Farberware Aluminum Nonstick 8-Inch, 10-Inch and 11-Inch Dishwasher Safe Skillet Triple Pack

Farberware Aluminum Nonstick 8-Inch, 10-Inch and 11-Inch Dishwasher Safe Skillet Triple PackVery cheaply made.I had to get rid of them because the non-stick coating started to peel.Save your money and get something else.

These are inexpensive, they work very well for the price but they are thin and shallow. They are not deep at all, hard to make things like hamburger helper without it boiling over... Otherwise good

I bought the 8 and 10" frying pan. They are by far the best cookware I have ever used. Completely nonstick, heats evenally, and really easy to clean. No more soaking pans over night. I would recommend silverstone cookware to anyone. Another great thing about silverstone products is that they are not over expensive. Great buy for the money

I bought the champagne colored pots and pans, and they perfectly compliment the earthy copper tones of my kitchen. They also work pretty well-as long as they are seasoned the non-stick part works well.***I was a nube and didn't know what "seasoned" meant when I read these reviews.Yeah-you just heat each pan on medium heat over a burner for 30 seconds, and then rub the inside of them with vegetable oil to maintain the non-stick coating. They cook the food pretty evenly--so no complaints there. However, these freaking things will not stack.I don't like to put my pots and pans inside of each other because they will scratch and ruin the non-stick interior. So I invert the lids and stack them accordingly.Maybe it's a triviality but ... the handles are too heavy, and they just tip over.I can never reach in for a pan without all of the other ones falling all over.A small price to pay for decent pots and pans I guess:/

Look nice.Seem like cheaper non stick as almost everything sticks to surface without Pam or other spray. My wife uses them a lot and is really unhappy with them.I've cooked with them twice, once was OK, second time everything stuck to pan.Surface easily scratched, even though we use primarily plastic and wooden utensils while cooking.Anyways, I don't understand the great reviews IMHO.

Coastal Cocktails Cast Iron Skillet Cookie Set

Coastal Cocktails Cast Iron Skillet Cookie SetI won this at a White Elephant Christmas party gift exchange. I was so excited because I LOVE BJ's restaurant Pizookies! The recipe was easy to follow. (mix+1/4c butter+1egg+1tsp vanilla+chocochips, bake 375 for 10min). But the mix doesn't taste very good. I took a few bites and dumped it. I am happy to have the skillet. I plan on making my own home made batch soon!

While mixing the batter, I noticed it smelled and tasted a little funny.I added extra vanilla and even some sugar and it didn't help. The cookie came out like cake and tasted like salty cardboard.I think I'll keep the pan and try using my own dough.

I bought a couple of these for Christmas. The pan is cute and functional, the mix is awful.More a cake than a cookie, and very saccharine. If you can fins a pan alone cheaper just get that, or buy this and use your own mix.

I love this! I received it as a Christmas gift from a co-worker, and I thought it was such a clever idea. When I first opened the batter mix, I wasn't sure because I didn't see any chocolate chips in it. After I poured it out, though, the chocolate chips that were hiding appeared. Just add egg and butter (I used margarine). Love it because the cookie comes out tasting and having the consistency of a cake-like dessert oh, and I added slice almonds because I like nuts.. Would totally buy more!

My daughter gave these to my husband and me for Christmas. Before I even tried baking them, I went online and did some research were these "one use only" items? The answer is no.

On the Pillsbury site I discovered that one of their suggestions for recipes was to take an entire roll of chocolate chip dough and bake it in the oven in a cast iron skillet (full size). By adapting the cooking time, you can actually spoon out the cookie dough and press it into the bottom of this pan and make EASY cookies. (I'm into delicious and I'm into easy!) Since we have two of the pans, we will be making 2 at a time and keeping the rest of the dough refrigerated.

The one suggestion I would like to make is that you place these on a cookie sheet just in case they spill over the top when you make them to keep the bottom of your oven safe from spills.

Not the best choice of mixes, but the pan itself is super. Just price around, you can find better prices locally.

Another choice (without the mix) is to buy the pan alone ... Lodge Logic 3.5-Inch Miniature Skillet or Lodge Logic L5MS3 5 Inch Miniature Skillet.

Presto Indoor Grill

Presto Indoor Grilli just received my presto grill and i'm already cooking on it. this is my second attempt at a indoor grill and this is by far the best over the first one. this is a great grill! i've already grilled chicken, steak, and pork chops. it came out fantastic! the first grill had cold spots and did not seem to get extremely hot. this grill gets HOT! the heat is evenly distributed across the entire surface thanks to the embedded element and the cooking area is very large. i grilled 4 large sirloin steaks at one time. the rubber pads under the legs also keeps the grill from sliding around. i like the fact that you have the temps displayed on the thermostat all the way up to 400 degrees. dip tray is nice and the cleanup is quick and simple. the nonstick surface is superb on everything thing i have prepared so far. and amazons price is far less over some of the other indoor grills i've looked at. i am going to post some pics soon of this fantastic grill in action. overall i'm very impressed with this presto indoor grill's performance and price. THANKS AMAZON!

I bought this to try something different from the typical George Foreman type grill.I was so sick and tired of trying to clean the Foreman grill I already own with the non-removable plates!Hate it!Although there are several brands of tabletop grills that do have removable plates, most of them are overpriced.I absolutely will not spend $100 on an indoor tabletop grill.

I came across this one on Amazon and, after much searching and reading, decided I'd go ahead and give it a try. This is a single sided grill with no lid that comes down on top of it so you have to cook one side of your food at a time.Different from what I've been used to.

So far, so good.I haven't had time to use it a whole lot yet but what I've cooked on it so far has been good.Chicken and steaks.I love using these tabletop grills versus the oven or broiler or outdoor BBQ grill so I'm sure I'll use it for everything.Burgers, fish, chops, chicken, steak, vegetables, etc.

It is super simple to use.Plug in the cord to the grill (like an electric skillet) and plug the cord into an outlet and there you go.It heats up quickly to 400 degrees (or less) and is ready to go in no time.It is lightweight and super, super easy to clean!Thank goodness because that was my main reason for buying a new tabletop grill in the first place. It is totally dishwasher safe but I just rinse mine off in the sink.It has a non stick coating which is fine so far.I did wonder if heating up only to 400 degrees was going to be hot enough to cook steaks but it is just fine.I made them last night and they were great.Because you have to cook each side of the meat, it does take longer than the Foreman type grills but I don't mind that at all.Gives me time to be making the side dishes. The sides are made of plastic. Not sure if they'll hold up well over time or not.

For the price (around $35) I am pleased with this purchase so far.As long as it holds up for a reasonable period of time that is!We'll see as time goes by.If I have any problems with it, I'll come back and amend this rating.

Scanpan Classic 3-Piece Starter Set

Scanpan Classic 3-Piece Starter SetScanpan cookware is great to use if you don't trust traditional nonstick because you can't use metal utensils or some foods, give Scanpan a try. Since the nonstick properties are part of the cookware alloy, not acoating, you can use anything (metal, wood, etc) and it won't scratch ordamage the surface. You don't have to baby it.It doesn'tscratch.

Cleanup is a breeze (with the exception of the grill pan, whichis nice to use, but difficult to clean because of the circularridges).

Scanpan works well in the oven and on the stovetopcasserole-style stewpots such as the one in this set are a typicalexample.

Scanpan is usually fairly expensive, so it's a good idea to buyit in sets, and since the sets change often, be patient if you want aparticular item but you want to save money.

Also, Scanpan tends todiscolor slightly with use it's not ever going to gleam.Thediscoloration is subtle because of the dark gray color.Scanpan is for go,not show.

To their credit, these pans cook more evenly than anything else I've used besides the original Scanpan. A big strike against them: They are NOT the original Scanpan! I loved my old indestructible Scanpans. I LOVED that they didn't have a Teflon-type lining, but instead a ceramic film that was sprayed on at umpty-thousand degrees. They cured up better than black iron, and cooked hash browns the same color edge to edge! I could use metal spatulas! My new Scanpans are starting to peel....Man, that aggravates me! BRING BACK MY ORIGINAL SCANPANS!!!!!

This is a great set at a great price. The frying pan takes a while toheat up but it cooks so evenly great pancakes! The low dutch oven isnice because the sides are not so high that you have to stick your arm waydown in the pot but not so low that there's a problem fitting a reasonableamount in.I use it a lot with the steamer insert.

Cuisinart 66-17 Chef's Classic Nonstick Hard-Anodized 17-Piece Cookware Set

Cuisinart 66-17 Chef's Classic Nonstick Hard-Anodized 17-Piece Cookware SetThis is a beautiful set of cookware and, I think, a great value...I paid $189.99 for 17 pieces, 15 of which are pots, pans & lids and 2 inserts..for pasta and for steaming.I like that there are 2 of the same size lid.You always get 1 lid that fits 2 items in the set and I would always use them at the same time and only be able to cover 1. No worries with this set--there is 1 lid for each. Also, I did a lot of price shopping before I picked this one and it's the only brand that calls it 17-piece and gives you all cookware.Every other set I saw that was over, say, 10 pieces-the extra was knives or plastic utensils vs pots and pans.If it was 17 pieces, 7 to 9 of them were bowls, utensils, knives, etc. Rip offs for the prices they charged. And finally..the outside is nice and smooth, not ringed or otherwise textured...makes for nice cleanup and hopefully they'll stay nice looking longer than their predecessors. The ONLY thing I'm not thrilled with is that the lid handles do get warm...even hot.The pot and pan handles don't, but the lids definitely do.But for the price and quality? I have potholders.... Otherwise I would give it 5 stars. What the heck..5 it is!

The reason I decided to purchase these was simply because of the great customer service I had recieved from Cuisinart.I had purchased a frying pan and one of the 115V tines broke.I called Customer service and they sent me out a brand new pan no questions asked.

These pans are great however they are NOT dishwasher safe. The outside finish will dull (Don't ask) but I recovered it with some olive oil. They wash quite quickly and nicely.Definately non stick.Great even heat.

I bought a set of Cuisinart teflon non-stick pans due to the fact that there was supposed to be a lifetime warranty. Well when the teflon coating started peeling, I contacted customer service 1-800-726-0190 and was assured that if I sent them back they would warranty the pans. I stressed that they were several years old and the girl said that was ok. I spent $30 to FedEx the pans (sent back all pans in the set) and was also required to enclose a check for $10 to cover return shipping.

After about a month, I had not heard anything, so I called and they had no record of receiving. I related the fedex confirmation and they said to give it another week to update my file. I called back in a week and the girl said that there was a note in the file saying "costomer abuse". I asked what that meant and she said she didn't know. I asked to speak to a supervisor and was referred to "Daniel". Daniel said that he would look into it and it was up to "corporate" and he had no input. He said he would call me back in 24 hours. Daniel did not call back in 24 hours, so in 48 hours I called and asked for him. He still said that it was up to corporate I said that was not good enough; I have $40 more dollars invested in the pans. I told him that I have never seen a pan that eventually did have some peeling and wearing off of the teflon and a "lifetime warranty" should be honored. I also asked for a supervisor higher up.

A day later I got a call from "Dena". Dena (clanging pans sound) said the the customer abuse was using too high of heat which caused the teflon to fail she also said that it was evident that metal utensils were used. Neither of which are true, the pans were just old and wearing out, but we bought them initially because of the lifetime warranty. Dena stated that if they just replaced pans for everybody that they would go broke replacing pans and they were NOT going to warranty my pans. Due to my constant whining, she did agree to ship back the pans (received but damaged with dings on the edges), refund my $30 shipping and the $10 check (have not received yet). My response was since she was going to ship my pans back at a cost of $20 (probably their cost to ship) and write a check for $40, wouldn't it be wiser to invest that $60 and send us a new set of pans that have a (Cousinart cost) of $60. She said "Look, we generally don't refund the original shipping, so NO". I also told Dena that I would post a positive Amazon review as well as a negative Amazon review whichever was needed. She said that was my right. So here I am with the negative I will never buy Cuisinart again and ther warranty is not worth the paper it is printed on...

I purchased an entire set of these pans and was thrilled initially. After a short time, the non-stick coating started flaking off. Last week I was picking pieces out of my food, I could literally grab an edge and peel it off the pans. Set looks nice, but invest in something else.

I did a lot of research before buying a new set of cookware. I read tons of reviews and this one seemed to be the best. Not only were there good reviews but there seemed to be great features and shapes/sizes of pots & pans too. I even bought some additional separate pieces at a much higher price. Too bad for me.

My biggest issue is that the handles are very hard to hold. They are too slender and have a concave shape so that one cannot grip them easily and comfortably. This is especially problematic with the skillets or larger saucepans (bought separately). Secondly, they get VERY hot, very fast and things burn in seconds. They seem rather lightweight. I would prefer a heavier bottom. I think this add to the heating/burning issue. They seems to scratch easily even though I have been very careful with them. The non-stick feature is good and they are easy to clean. Lastly, the covered Saute Pan is too small. For me it is a waste. The saucepans are very shallow to the point of being almost unuseable for me.

Think twice before buying this cookware.

Revere 4-Cup Stainless Steel Bottom Easy Fill Tea Kettle

Revere 4-Cup Stainless Steel Bottom Easy Fill Tea KettleThis kettle is great for me.I use it to make tea for myself every day.I do not understand the review that says it gets too hot.I have never needed a pot holder to grab the handle. It easily handles tea for two, any more than that and you may want a bigger one.It heats fast on my "not so fast" electric stove and is easy to fill from the water dispenser on my refrigerator.I love this item and would highly recommend it!

This is a nice sized tea kettle for brewing small amounts. It pours nicely, isn't too heavy and heats quickly. However, I bought one and in a few months, the spring to open the spout broke.I contacted Revere and they immediately sent a replacement.Excellent customer service and the replacement has been perfect.

One year later, the replacement broke and now I am on my third replacement which broke about a month after receiving that.Apparently there is some issue with the metal used for the spring. It cannot take the heat of boiling water for tea. How can you have a tea kettle that can't take the heat! I was really careful when heating water in this third kettle thinking if I heated it on a lower heat, it would be fine. The spring broke anyway. While customer service has been really good, I would not recommend this product and will be shopping for another brand.Revere does not have the quality it used to.

This is now the second one of these that I've bought.I use mine at least every morning for my tea and I just recently bought one for my mother, who also loves it.I don't really know what the qualities of a good tea kettle are, but it whistles, it's easy to fill, and the handle is usable without the assistance of a towel of hot pad. This is the smaller one that my Mommie has.I'm personally a fan of the bigger size myself, but I drink a lot of tea.

Summary: great buy!

The whistle is hard to hear.Your AC fan is louder.Steam coming out around the fill cover heats the handle. It needs a longer pour spout. When you pour, steam from the pour spout hits your hand.

Lodge 5-Piece Cast Iron Cookware Set, Black

Lodge 5-Piece Cast Iron Cookware Set, BlackTo give a little background I had never cooked with cast iron prior to this set.I grew up with teflon, tried out the "titanium waterless cookware" (which was super expensive) and everything burned.I went back to teflon, but my last set was getting all scratched up and needed replacing so I was looking into other options.I had heard through my best friend who is a nutritionist that cast iron is the healthiest and best, but was intimidated by the maintenance.Long story short, after researching everything I decided for the price it was worth trying (half the cost of a Rachael Ray or Paula Deen teflon set).I'm so glad I did! This really is super easy to maintain, I just wipe with a towel after every use and grease slightly with crisco to restore the sheen and they look brand new!I didn't even have to wash or retreat, as they were non stick right out of the box.I liked that they cook evenly and the only other real "adjustment" I had to make to my cooking style is remembering to wear an oven mit when handling.I'm super pleased with this set and highly recommend it!

This set is currently listed for $107. I just put all these items in my cart individually and it totals $68.32. I love my lodge cast iron, but for the life of me I can't figure out why the set costs more than the pieces purchased individually. If you're interested in this set (and it's a great combo) do the math first to find out which way is cheapest.

Also, season your pans a few times before using them. I rub on a thin coat of coconut oil, put them in a 350 degree oven for an hour, then let cool. A few times of this and they are amazing to use.

This pan was purchased to update my cookware for induction use. It is a solid, well constructed pan with high sides. The height helps reduce splatter, within reason. Heat is distributed evenly and the handle stays cool (the cool handle could be attributed to the induction system, as no heat radiates outside of the cooking surface on the pan).

The price was great and it would be interesting to see just how much difference there could be between this and a similiar style, though much costlier pan.Since durability cannot be attested for without passage of time, and this is a stout pan, I would recommend this pan on all other counts. Enjoy.

Lodge Tempered Glass Lids

Lodge GC12 Tempered Glass Lid, 12-inchIt looks like a very nice lid. Attractive. well-made, and came very well packed.

Unfortunately, even though the listing says "Fits standard Lodge 12 inch dia pans," it does not. We made the "mistake" of buying the Lodge P12S3 cast iron skillet, and the lid rides on TOP of the skillet rim, not down in the skillet. We bought a 10" model, and the same thing occurs for the 10" model. I don't know what Lodge considers "standard Lodge 12 inch dia pans," but it is surely not the 12" skillet that we ordered and received. This is probably more of a criticism of Amazon and their listing than the product, but we unfortunately don't have a skillet that it DOES fit, so we have no way to tell. We have been very happy with Lodge skillets over the years.

Update:

We bought "Lodge Pro-Logic Pre-Seasoned 10-Inch Skillet" Model P10S3. We bought cover GC10 because it says that it "Fits standard Lodge 10.25 inch dia pans." It doesn't fit.

We bought "Lodge Pro-Logic Pre-Seasoned 12-Inch Skillet" Model P12S3. We bought cover GC12 because it says that it "Fits standard Lodge 12 inch dia pans." It doesn't fit.

P10S3Skillet, 10" dia.P10L3Cover, 10" dia.

P12S3Skillet, 12 dia.P12L3Cover, 12" dia.

I did not see images of the covers or information about whether they are oven safe or not.

Amazon apparently does not carry the lids for the skillets that we bought.

But onmodels are not listed, either, so one must do some more research just to find what covers fit which skillets.

I selected the L?SK3 series, but no covers were listed.

Further poking got me to glass covers here

Lodge Glass Cover, 10 1/4" dia. Fits L8SK3, L8CF3, L8DSK3, L8DO3, L8DOL3, LCC3 and L8DD3

Lodge Glass Cover, 12" dia. Fits L10SK3, L10DSK3, L10DO3, L10CF3 and L10DOL3

...and at last I know which covers go with which skillets.

I also prefer a lid with a loop handle because it is easier to hang. With the knob on top, storing the cover will not be as easy.

Everything I hoped for except it seems to be so light weight (a plus to some people) I wonder if it will hold up to frequent, extended use.

It is great to be able to use my cast iron skillet with a see through lid.

I bought this lid along with a cast iron lid for my skillets.I use this lid when cooking something I need to keep a close eye on so I don't have to keep picking up the lid as I would with the cast iron lid.The lid is built with metal ring around the edge to prevent chipping and provide for a good fit.It fits the skillet perfectly.Nice and light which is a benefit over the cast iron lid.It is rated to use in the oven (to a certain temp), however when using the pan in the oven, I use the cast iron lid.The only downside I can note is that the glass lid is made in China vs the cast iron lid (and skillets) being made in the USA.This may or may not be an issue for you but other posters had mentioned it so I'm throwing it in.

Swiss Diamond Cast-Aluminum Nonstick 10-Piece Cookware Set

Swiss Diamond Cast-Aluminum Nonstick 10-Piece Cookware SetI really wish that people would not leave comments on cookware that they have had for less than a year.Of course when it's new, it's great. However, please note that the reviewers who have had theirs for more than a year are telling you it DOES scratch easily. This is a very expensive set for nonstick.I took very good care of mine because it was so expensive, I always handwashed my cookware and did not abuse it.But it still scratched after 3 months.Fortunately the company that I bought it from stood behind it and took it back, because Swiss Diamond's warranty is awful!Look at some of these reviews and you'll see that people who had to deal with the company are saying that Swiss Diamond keeps claiming "abuse".How convenient and shady of the company. The nonstick was great and it cooked nicely, but when mine scratched, I contacted the company and was given, in an email, "this warranty does not cover stains, discoloration, scratch marks, or dents".HUH???What DOES it cover then? And once a pan is scratched it's ruined. So since it scratched so easily and the company does not stand behind their warranty, I decided to return the entire set rather than get stuck with a $500 set that will be just like any other nonstick set within a few years.Don't listen to reviewers who have only had theirs a short while look at the reviewers who have had theirs for awhile or have had to deal with the company. They are all saying the same thing it DOES scratch, get pits, and stains and the company does not stand behind it.

We spent a lot of money ($150) on the 12-inch sautee pan which is advertised as "virtally indestructable". We have been very careful with the pan. We don't use metal utensils, put it in the dishwasher, or use abrasive cleaners or scrubbers. The non-stick coating is pitting, flaking and coming off after only eight months.

The company told me that we could send it back (at our expense) and someone at the company would examine the pan and decide if they would repair the pan, give us a replacement or return the pan as is.

We are planning to return the pan, but we aren't too hopeful.

Having recently read quite a few reviews of other companies' non-stick cookware, it seems that this is a common problem. Caveat emptor!

I bought a Swiss Diamond Cookware Set about five years ago and some of the pans that I use daily are really starting to show "wear and tear."I contacted their Customer Service Department who seemed VERY interested in helping me decide whether some of the set needed replacement.I was asked to send pictures online and full documentation on when I bought them etc. etc.I responded immediately with what they asked for!

THEN, NO RESPONSE!I even sent an email to the person who originally contacted me...NO REPLY!

This cookware is VERY EXPENSIVE!I do NOT recommend it because NO ONE FROM THE COMPANY answered my questions regarding whether it was SAFE TO USE IN REGARD TO WEAR!

I've been bragging to everyone about how lovely this 8.5 qt. stock pot is because clean up is a cinch and the non-stick quality is superior. Recently, after cleaning the pan I noticed a scratch that revealed the silver-colored metal underneath the non-stick surface as well as several other aggravated areas on the rim. I couldn't imagine how that happened. After examining its glass lid, I noticed the metal band that goes around the circumference of it (and comes in contact with the pot's rim) joins together and creates an unconnected, albeit close, seam. When I touched it, it felt sharp. Ah-hah! This must be what caused the damage. It seemed logical to me. The representative from Swiss Diamond looked at it and claimed it was caused by a metal utensil being banged against the rim. User error. Needless to say I'm disappointed. I don't recall banging a metal utensil against the rim. It seems obvious to me that, as absurd as it may sound in theory, practically speaking, the pan damaged itself. I sure hope the damage doesn't spread. The other thing I've noticed is some of the non-stick surface on the bottom is pilling. I'm bummed out. I feel angry, but I can't fight "city hall". I just hope this isn't the beginning of further degradation of the pan I love so much.

I've been cooking for 50 years and have tried them all. This is the best line of cookware ever. It has all the right features: can be used in the oven, proper balance, excellent conductivity, totally flat bottoms, great non-stick (both inside and outside), the handles stay cool, just the right weight. However, don't believe the claim that you can use metal utensils. They can be scratched if you don't use wooden, silicone, or plastic utensils. Treat them with care and they'll be your favorite cookware.

Earth Pan 12 Skillet

Earth Pan Nonstick Cookware 12-Inch Skillet, Terra CottaEarth pans are the best pans I have ever used and even better is that they are a natural product that does not out gas into your food. I have been using Earth Pans for several months now and will never go back to other non-stick pans. I recommend using wooden or silicone utensils as with all nonstick pans. Most of the time I wash my pans in the dishwasher with no problem.

If you care about what you take into your body and you want non-stick thesepans are the way to go and the cost is affordable as well.

The skillet non stick coating works well.Clean up is simple. The skillet is however very thin on the bottom and without any sort of heat insulator/spreader.The very thin skillet transfers heat from the burner in localized areas of the skillet instead of heating the entire bottom. Tough to cook food without burning it.Reminds me of a cheap thin non stick skillet from a dollar store.Would not purchase again.

This worked very well at first but quickly lost its non stick properties, even though I followed the use and care instructions completely.Do not waste your money on this product. My tried and true cast iron skillet works much better for everyday use, and I use a conventional nonstick crepe pan for particularly delicate items.

At first I really liked this pan, especially the fact that it is healthier than teflon.

It worked well for about 2 months and then everything started to stick!. I use it almost every day, but did not abuse it. I took care of it as I would any Non-stick pan, it just did not hold up. Mine is not flaking as others have mentioned. I would not buy one again and would not recommend this product either.

I bought this cookware because of the less hazardous, POFA, PTFE-free nonstick coating and the Terra Cotta color. Unlike some, I've had no problems with anything sticking in four weeks of use. I wash this pan by hand. I use it on a gas stove with a metal type grill. I've noticed the enamel Terra Cotta coating starting to chip off. I would have thought this enamel would not flake off just by placing the pan on the gas stove grating. I'm planing on returning this pan if Amazon take it back.

Presto 06626 11 inch Electric Skillet w/glass lid

Presto 06626 11 inch Electric Skillet w/glass lidI love to cook, but I have a small, apartment-style kitchen, with a narrow stove and limited counter top space with which to work on. I do most of my cooking and prep work in a compressed L-shaped area where the stove is to my left and my kitchen sink just around the corner to my right. I tuck this electric skillet in the corner of the "L" and either use it as an extension of my stove, or instead of. The skillet's non-stick surface is so smooth, it's perfect for making dishes like crab cakes, where I pre-cook various ingredients for use in the final assembly stage, and can simply give the skillet a wipe with a paper towel between each cooking cycle. I only have to wash the pan once at the end of the meal (and the small pan size fits perfectly in my small sink). The skillet heats up quickly, and the temperature control lights up while coming up to temperature and turns off when the desired temperature is reached. I've also noticed that my skillet is reasonably level on my reasonably level counter top (e.g., cooking oil doesn't puddle up in any corner of the skillet), and the skillet's clear glass lid is very handy for monitoring food that is simmering.

Additional Information:

1. The skillet's cooking area is 11 x 11 inches; and its width, including handles, is 11 x 14.5 inches.

2. The power cable is 30 inches long, which works great if you have an electrical outlet nearby. I like it, because I prefer not to have a lot of redundant electrical cord laying about and taking up space.

3. Temperature control settings range from 200 to 400, with an additional Warm setting.

4. I've found nothing in the documentation that states the temperature of the Warm setting, but my (unscientific) tests with my instant read thermometer indicate that Warm on my skillet runs about 168 degrees Fahrenheit; and it doesn't bring water to a boil. There's an unofficial "Warm" setting, just below the labeled Warm setting, at the first point on the temperature control where the heat light comes on.This unofficial setting on my skillet runs about 108 degrees Fahrenheit.

5. The skillet's heating element is hotter in the center of the skillet (e.g., the center crab cake browns faster), but not so much that it caused any of my food to burn.

6. Both the lid and skillet (but not the power control) are dishwasher safe, though the documentation that comes with the skillet warns that dishwasher detergent will discolor the bottom of the skillet. I've found the skillet easy to clean in (a cleared out) sink, so I haven't bothered to try it the dishwasher.

7. This skillet isn't designed for deep frying, and the documentation states that very clearly.

This is a very nice mid sized skillet (perfect for two adults). It gets quite hot, enough to brown hamburger for hamburger steak with onions and gravy. One thing about this skillet though is it does get very hot so therefore it needs to be dialed way back in order to let foods just simmer.I don't find that to be a deal breaker but just be aware if left at higher temps it can cook the liquid down and potentially ruin your meal.Overall, I'm rating it 5 stars for it's size, design and yes, for it's heating capacity.

I just bought this skillet. It is made exactly like the Presto 16 inch version which is very highly rated by users.I wanted an 11 or 12 inch skillet and I found this one on sale at a price I could not pass up.It is a great size for most skillet recipes and easier to store away than the 16 inch model. It has 1000 watts.I had a Presto electric wok and it perfomed perfectly but did not like wok cooking so I gave it to my daughter. This skillet will be perfect for stir fry cashew chicken and Alton Brown's onion soup recipe.

Live in an apartment provided by the institution I work for. I eat at the cafeteria, but occasionally want to cook my own meals.Don't have a stove so decided to buy this small skillet.Perfect for my need! The non-stick surface requires little or no oil. Cleans easy.

This is the first electric skillet I ever owned. It cooks wonderfully.I grill, roast, simmer and boil with it.A friend was infuriated to discover that it did roasted vegetables better than her very expensive micro-wave/convection oven. There is, however, a couple of problems with this item.My version (with the plastic rather than glass lid), has legs that gradually unscrew and have to be periodically tightened--no big deal.A bigger problem is that the non-stick falls off and you eventually eat it.This is not good.I have bought two of these and been given one.All three have lost their non-stick.I am looking at other brands now--and am willing to pay a lot more.
