All-Clad LTD 11-Inch Square Nonstick Griddle

All-Clad LTD 11-Inch Square Nonstick GriddleI am not a big fan of the All Clad LTD line but I do love this pan.I much prefer the All Clad polished stainless steel line (I have almost every piece and love it) but at time I was making this purchase I didn't know they made a stainless griddle and I also wanted the nonstick surface, I am pretty sure the stainless griddle is not nonstick. This griddle is a perfect size for pancakes.I debated on the grande size, I decided that since I don't make pancakes everyday it didn't make sense to spend the extra money and deal with storing the larger size. Also, I prefer smaller pancakes and this size is a better price and much easier to store. It is a great size for 4 small/medium-sized pancakes.I imagine it would also be more challenging to keep up with more than 4 at a time, particularly of you are making eggs at the same time.

This pan is not dishwasher safe due to the nonstick surface, but don't worry it is a breeze to clean. This pan is very, very well made and is backed by a lifetime warranty.Sometimes this pan is sold {at a special price} if you see it grab it.It is a steal at that price.Once you try All Clad you will be hooked too! Highly recommended! A+!

Part of the cachet for me in purchasing an All-Clad product was that their factory is less than 50 miles from my home.I always try to support American MANUFACTURERS, and was quite shocked to find this particular piece labeled "Made in China for All-Clad."

Damn. You can't trust anybody. But as for the product---

It is a solid performer. The non-stick surface is very effective, and remember to follow the directions and cook on a lower heat than you normally would. The thick aluminum transmits heat well, and also holds the heat, so when your item is done, get it off the pan.

I have had this pan for two years.I have probably used it more than 100 times, usually to make pancakes or french toast. It does a very good job, better than the Calphalon griddle that I had before. I downgrade it because it scratches too easily -and I have made an effort from day one to take very good care of it, using only nylon spatulas, promptly washing it gently by hand, and storing it so it won't be scratched by other pans.Still, after all that care, it has become scratched. So my verdict is that the griddle does a good job but it requires a lot of TLC.

I love this pan!I have the All-Clad stainless line, and bought this pan when my youngest daughter started to like grilled cheese sandwiches. You just can't cook more than one sandwich at a time in a regular fry pan. This pan has plenty of space to cook 4 sandwiches at a time, or 4 pieces of french toast, or 4 eggs...the list goes on and on.

My dad came to visit, and was coerced into making pancakes. He had always used a square electric griddle at home, but he gave my griddle pan a try.He liked it so much I gave him one for Christmas!Once again, plenty of space to cook 4 pancakes at a time.

The non-stick coating is durable, the food slips right off, and it is easy to wash. That is important, because this pan can't go into the dishwasher. It is also rather heavy, but since I just set it on the burner and cook, that isn't an issue either.

Bottom line is that both my father and I are very happy to make room in our kitchens for this pan.

Not a great griddle. The finish requires alot of maintance to keep it non-stick. Have to clean it with baking soda after each few uses.I've had it about a year & it is so warped that it's un-usable.I called All Clad because it it supposed to have a warranty but they require you send it to them & they have to check it out & approved it & possibly in a few months they would do something but they said more than likely it was user error from using it on too high of heat.So in short, I'm out of luck.So don't waste your money on a cheaply made product.Spend a little more & get a good product.

Swiss Diamond Cast-Aluminum Nonstick 9.5 inch Breakfast Pan

Swiss Diamond Cast-Aluminum Nonstick 9.5 inch Breakfast PanI recently bought a Swiss Diamond Saute Pan on the basis of a limited lifetime warranty and this claim in the product description:

"Swiss Diamond cookware features a revolutionary new non-stick incorporating diamond crystals ... to form a virtually indestructible non-stick cooking surface that will not crack, blister or peel. So durable its metal utensil safe."

After my experience using this pan I take issue with the terms "virtually indestructible" and "metal utensil safe" and feel that I have been deceived.

I've followed Swiss Diamond use and care instructions *to the letter* but not long after I started using the pan the surface became pockmarked. I would submit that the product is certainly neither "virtually indestructible" nor "metal utensil safe."

Interestingly their lifetime warranty does not cover "scratch marks," which is puzzling because they've just claimed it's"virtually indestructible" and "metal utensil safe." How is a"virtually indestructible" and "metal utensil safe" surface going to get scratch marks on it? Maybe they know something we don't?

After ONE use, the finish on this pan started peeling off in soft little black balls. It showed scrap marks all over the surface that looked exactly like a TEFLON pan.I used a pair of very flimsy aluminum tongs to turn some pasta in a sauce in this pan.

We had purchased an entire 7-piece set, and just resturned the whole thing. There's research on the internet about the deceptive marketing and false claims this brand makes.DO NOT BUY THIS, IT'S A RIP OFF!!!You're better off with a cheap teflon-coated pan if you really, really want a non-stick surface.

Swiss Diamond touts that you can treat this pan as any normal pan, using metal utensils and you won't have to worry about it flaking like low quality non stick pans.

We used it delicately and used only non-stick utensils and it flaked within weeks of the first use.It took them 6 weeks to replace it under warranty. After receiving a 2nd pan we used it even more carefully to protect our investment in a "quality pan" and it flaked almost immediately.

This times after waiting months for a reply the company would not back there warranty and the pan went in the trash.

Don't waste your money or health this pan is nothing more than a cheap non-stick pan.

Cuisinart 66-14 Chef's Classic Nonstick Hard-Anodized 14-Piece Cookware Set

Cuisinart 66-14 Chef's Classic Nonstick Hard-Anodized 14-Piece Cookware SetI am an avid home chef & treasure high-quality cookware. These are great! They are thinner (but harder) than many brands, which I truly love. Lower heat settings can be used for comparable results in other cookware, which saves energy, money, & severity of burns if the user is accident prone.

Some things to know:

1. These pans are designed to be hung on a rack. Hanging does save your cookware from a lot of those small injuries caused to them by stacking.

2. The Quantanium non-stick finish is like Teflon on steroids! I use about 1/4 the oil/butter I normally used in the older versions of Teflon. As mentioned above, a lower heat setting is also necessary. These are very easy to clean (except the stainless steel "buttons" where the handles are attached everything sticks well there).

3. Although they say "Metal Utensil Safe", DON'T! Save the metal utensils for your cast iron & stoneware.

4. Non-stick cooking spray tends to eat finish on pans. Preserve them by washing well with soap & water as soon as they are cool. TIP: NEVER, EVER put a sizzling hot pan in water or dump cool water into it! This causes warping that basically ruins the pan. Move the pan to an unused burner & let it cool naturally before washing.

5. With the small steamer insert, never fill the pan over one inch above the bottom of the insert. With the stockpot insert, 2 inches. This can be pushed to nearly 3, but the mess from overfilling is big.

6. Enjoy & care for these pans! You won't ever have to buy replacements for them as long as you don't abuse them.

I purchased this 14pc set of cuisinart pots and pans, after many comparisons and shopping around. I was initially more interested in purchasing Circulon Elite, but I wasn't too happy with the sizes offered in the set. Anyway, I am extremely happy that I purchased this set instead and here's why...

The price is great! This is a high quality product! There are 14pc included and they are all in useable sizes, the only additional thing you many need is a 12"skillet, but I have been fine without one so far. The 4 quart saute pan is wonderful!!! And I absolutely love the steamer basket, that was a huge selling point for me because I steam veggies everyday! I am very impressed with everything about these pots and pans! The non-stick finish has been very durable so far, and extremely easy to clean. They cook evenly with no hot spots, etc. One important thing to note that makes this set different than most other hard anodized cookware, is that these are made with an aluminum core. So they have a hard anodized exterior and a non-stick interior, but the aluminum core makes them quite a bit lighter in weight to most other products. I consider this to be a positive thing, I don't need to break my wrist washing a pan. But if you use your pans as weapons, consider something else. =) The exterior finish is awesome, its a smooth hard anodized finish and very easy to maintain. Another review complained about the exterior, that "it looked cheap and no matter how she cleaned them they looked bad"... well, she's crazy!!! These look awesome!!! The clear lids are very helpful, although they do tend to get hot so using a rag when lifting is advisable. But handles on the pans seem to stay cool, no problem.

Anyway, if you are considering this cookware and are comparing it to more expensive brands, then save your money! You will not be disappointed with this purchase!

I got these on sale last week from Amazon at .Totally worth it.They are nice and heavy, heat evenly and the non-stick is amazing. You can put them in the dishwasher but it makes the outside of the pan turn a chalky dappled grey color. You really should hand wash them unless you don't give a crap how the outside looks.

The metal and glass lids can get hot while cooking but that's why they make over mitts but the great thing is, since these pans do not have the rubber coated saftey handles you can transfer from stove top to oven for a broil without having to worry about ruining your handles [like the old Revere Ware].

Update: 2009 and the pans have not yet fallen apart. The larger cookpot is showing some wear on the nonstick finish after heavy use.I also admit to using metal utensils on the product. The lids are in great shape and have not cracked or chiped and all the metal handles are still bright and shiny and not loose depite me washing them in the dishwasher.

I never write reviews, but this one is worth it!Cleanup is a snap, even baked on cheese.Normally I dread cleaning pans and just toss them in the dishwasher.I did abide by the instructions and washed them by hand.Egg, grease, baked on cheese, you name it.A little hot water and soap under the faucet does the trick.

I'm tossing my other pans.

15 years out of school and in desperate need of new pans, I researched for months on cookware brands, materials, pan-types and price. I purchased the Cuisinart 14-piece set based on my research & the enthusiastic commentary of so many other long-time users.

In every day use, this Cuisinart cookware has met my expectations. All of the pans including the skillets can be used with the lids included in the set. You won't get as many lids as pans, but having a perfectly-fitting lid on hand for both the 8" & 10" skillet is rare, and really nice.

The cookware pieces are attractive, well-made and perform exactly as described by the manufacturer. A smooth finish inside and out means that hand-washing is easy; food just does not stick in the pans. The rivets are easy to clean, too -these are big pluses since my schedule does not allow for much additional time for chores.

I tend to use medium to medium-high heats for most dishes, and haven't needed high heat to get quick & even results. I don't have a kitchen large enough to hang the cookware pieces, so I stack/nest them in my cupboard, using Wonderliner padded shelf inserts between them to mitigate against any scratching. However, the Cuisinart Cookware's nonstick surface has been quite durable and the set shows no signs of interior nor exterior wear.

The steamer insert is great for vegetables and Asian dumplings (I never use the pasta insert.) I couldn't find the steamer insert sold separately, and you can't use a metal fan basket steamer on the nonstick surface, so buy the 14or 17piece sets to receive it. I use wood and silicone-based utensils with the set.

I own other cookware (Cuisinart Multiclad, Staub & Le Creuset) to cover a full range of cooking needs. Nonstick is essential for certain applications; all in all, it truly has been a terrific set for me.

Broilking Ultra Large Griddle - Black

Broilking Ultra Large Griddle - BlackI bought this based on a positive review in a cooking magazine that tested different electric griddles trying to make the perfect blueberry pancakes.

It has some serious flaws.

The area closest to the temperature control does not heat adequately, despite the magazine review saying it heated evenly across the entire surface.I've used it half a dozen times and I know for sure this is a weak spot.

Even worse, it is really hard to clean, no matter how you follow instructions, it stains very easily, gets very sticky and is way too labor intensive.Wait till you try blueberry pancakes. . .

I recently purchased this griddle for my brother.I've had one for several years and really like it.It's great for a large breakfast crowd as you can cook a entire package of bacon at once, then do pancakes and eggs. It's drip tray is quite large, but must be changed during the cooking process if doing a large amount of bacon. It's also easy to clean.

We have put up with this griddle for at least a year. It's fine except that the heat is uneven. The end of the griddle closest to the plug-in is much cooler than the rest, so those pancakes are still gooey while the rest are ready, so you end up "babysitting" your pancakes (taking some off, adding batter, then taking the slow ones off, etc.)when you should be eating. We just sent it off with our son to college, so we get to buy a new one!

Emeril E9640564 Cast-Iron 10-Inch Skillet Cookware, Black

Emeril E9640564 Cast-Iron 10-Inch Skillet Cookware, Black(2008 HOLIDAY TEAM)The Emerilware Cast Iron 10 Inch Skillet is a very good cast iron skillet for the home cook on a budget.A well-seasoned cast-iron skillet is an essential for anybody that wants to cook beyond the basic level. There are several reservations, which are more based on knowing your needs than any limits with the product. The first thing to keep in mind is that, though most cast iron skillets, including this one, come pre-seasoned, they still need to be seasoned further before you can get the benefits of a nice non-stick surface for cooking. This factory seasoning is definitely a great start, but the main benefits will be that it will prevent rusting and keep your food from getting the metallic taste that is common with completely un-seasoned cast-iron.Some people knock these products for their claims of being pre-seasoned.I give them the benefit of the doubt on that.I have simply never used a pre-seasoned skillet that didn't need to be really seasoned a few times before it was useful for cooking purposes.

The second consideration is regarding size.It is pretty common to make the mistake of looking at skillets and their prices and choosing one that is simply too large.Cast-iron is heavy, so bigger is not always better. This 10 inch skillet is the perfect size for general use.Even if you choose another brand, unless you are cooking regularly for 5-6 people I would advise you against getting anything larger than 10 inches. The 12 inch skillet is only a few dollars more but that extra weight and bulk will ensure that you will get to use it much less. The larger skillets often crowd out most stove-tops and are harder to maneuver.

Seasoning is a good deal of work and there is more than one approach. In my experience, you will definitely want to get your oven hotter and do your seasoning longer than what the instructions indicate.I personally think you need to heat your oven to at least 425 degrees, though some people recommend seasoning your pan at up to 550 degrees. No matter what the temperature, you will want to keep your pan hot for the better part of an hour and allow it to remain in the oven for several hours afterwards as it slowly cools. The 30 minutes noted on the instructions are just not going to cut it.

If you find that food is sticking, even after seasoning, you are going to want to season it again.Seasoning is just meant to speed up the longer term seasoning that happens from cooking in your pan and oiling it consistently over time.Eventually you will reach a nice non-stick surface that will require only infrequent re-seasoning and very little oil for cooking.

One common benefit of cast-iron is that it will generally produce a more even heat than other types of pans.My only real negative observation about this pan is that I noticed that it ran center-hot, meaning that there was a hot-spot towards the middle of the pan that didn't exist around the edges.I think with further seasoning this should be minimized, but some more expensive pans seem to have less noticeable hot-spots even before they have been seasoned.

I had a friend who had a cast iron skillet that I used to marvel at.With no additional oil, that skillet produced great food with wonderful flavor and in less time than other skillets. When I asked how long it took to obtain that wonderful patina on the inside of the surface, their answer was daunting: years of cooking and continuous seasoning.

Their post-cooking ritual was as follows: first they would slowly rinse out the pan, making sure it was totally clean. Then, they would reheat the skillet to dry it out completely. Finally, they would recoat the inside of the skillet with a thin layer of vegetable oil.Upon further research, it seems like some people substitute mineral oil for vegetable oil.I think it depends on how often you use your skillet, since vegetable oil will go bad if it sits in your pan for more than a few days.Using your cast iron skillet is the most important thing you can do to break it in and start to build a permanent seasoning on the surface. If possible, you will want to spend the first month using this skillet as much as possible. If you use it daily, and clean off the excess oil before each use, vegetable oil should be fine as it won't have time to go rancid.

I still recommend this skillet as long as you are willing to do the research needed to properly prepare it for use and care for it.For the price there are few cast-iron skillets that are as good and give you as much of a head-start with the pre-seasoning.Be mindful of the hot-spots and make sure you keep track of how *non-stick* the surface feels after seasoning. If food sticks at all, you have not seasoned the pan enough. With repeated seasoning and proper care, you will get a great return on your time invested. Please see the comments section for references to more information.

Enjoy.

Mass produced mediocrity -made for the licensing benefit of Emiril and little else. It's crudely fired and hard to season. This skillet and the rest of Emiril's cast iron cookware is made like this. It has tons of pits and grooves and iron dust that was stuck on during the firing process (cheap) . It also seem to rust easily or to be more prone to rusting than better quality cast iron cookware. If you want real cast iron cookware buy the Lodge brand. Emiril's cookware may be more competitively priced, but you get what you pay for. Emiril's pans are also made in China. The Lodge brand is made in USA

I should have known better when I was at Bed Bath and Beyond purchasing this item.I told the clerk, "Can I have one in a box, instead of the display item, cause this one seems to have imperfections all over it." He responded with, "Oh all of Emiril's cookware is like that." I was seduced by the name like an idiot and bought the pan anyway. Next week I'm getting Lodge skillets and donating the two Emiril's I bought to charity.

"Did not last" is a strange thing the say about a chunk of iron, but after a few months of ordinary use the cooking surface developed a convex shape with oil/grease running away from the center of the pan and pooling at the edges.I have owned some cheap aluminum non sticks that were like this from the beginning, but this is the first time I have had a pan start out good and develop this defect over time.

I've found that this skillet is gaining a smooth and even surface, even with my novice experience with cast iron seasoning techniques. It definitely sears my strip steaks beautifully and cooks the insides evenly and predictably. Once I found the smoke start point of the oil and the skillet and my electric stove's burner, and so keeping the heat just below that, I find I'm getting excellent results with meat, hash browns or eggs. I see a bit of rust in very small spots on the bottom, so be aware that this skillet must be truly dried if rinsing it out between cooking sessions. But, once realized, that's doable....Good stuff!

I have been seasoning the skillet for almost 2 weeks to make sure it will do it's job.I just fried some chicken till light brown & then put the chiken in the oven, skillet & all.The chicken came out very moist & the skin was crispy.

Everytime I use the oven, I put the skillet into the oven after I turn it off & when it is cool, I put more vegetable oil on.

I give the skillet so far a "5" & am looking forward to using it everyday.

Anolon Advanced Bronze Hard Anodized Nonstick 11-Piece Cookware Set

Anolon Advanced Bronze Hard Anodized Nonstick 11-Piece Cookware Set ()For the past month or so I've been using this cookware set almost exclusively in the kitchen and I've been super impressed. Here are some of my initial impressions:

SOLID set of pots and pans. The first thing I noticed with this set is how well-made and sturdy everything feels. The lids all fit perfectly and the handles are stable and stay cool.

This is the most nonstick set I've ever used. Food doesn't really stick at all, even if I get distracted and leave something on the heat for too long.

Great style. I've always loved the old-school look of bronze pots and pans, and I'm glad to own a set of my own.

Solid selection of pots and pans. The only bummer is that I wish there was a larger high-sided saute pan. There is one included that's awesome, I'd just love to have a bigger one also.

I haven't owned this set for a long enough time to write about durability, but in the future I will update this review if I run into any issues.

Highly recommended if you're looking for a great set of long-term cookware.

()...they mean non-stick!

Hello beauties! I'm pretty much in love with this gorgeous set of cookware. When I had looked at the pictures I had expected to received pots and pans that were brown but upon receiving them (and admiring them!) I discovered they were closer to a champagne/blonde/brown color. I think they are very classy and beautiful!

But my favorite feature has been the non-stick cooking abilities. We have owned the same LAME pots & pans since we married 8 years ago. We have desperately needed to upgrade so when we discovered this set we were in love at first sight. After use and experience we (my husband & I) can both say we are STILL feeling love at first sight. They feel so sturdy and hardy, the lids fit perfectly and we love the handles. The shapes of the pans are not only sleek & good looking, but we're loving the high sides on the sauce pans, the fluted edges, and of course the beautiful finish.

The finish of these pots & pans just releases. These pans DEFINE non-stick. I feel like we paid our dues all those years with awful "just-married" pots and pans that were cheap. This set has really put our old ones to shame. They make cooking just more enjoyable, don't underestimate the power of GOOD cookware. Even making a grilled cheese sandwich for my daughter in these pans is a joy.

As to date we have now cooked several meals on this new cookware and every time we've been shocked at how easily food releases, how evenly they heat, and how sturdy and well-designed they are.

It is a beautiful set that we are not only proud to "show off" to guests, but happy to use when making our favorite stove-top recipes. Anolon is a first class brand, and this GORGEOUS set of cookware is absolutely perfect in our humble opinion.

UPDATE: After several weeks of frequent use, these pots and pans are still our favorite additions to our kitchen. We love using them to cook. I also wanted to add that we have been so happy with the way these pots clean up after use. The non-stick finish works so well that we NEVER have to scrub and scrape them. Once we're done cooking, any leftover residue in the pans (burnt on or not) simply slide out into the sink or trash. Since we have to hand-wash these pots & pans, we are really loving how well they clean up after use. I'm also happy to report no chipping or scratching, despite having knocked them against other cookware a few times now.

()I'm a long time Calphalon Hard Anodized Commercial aficionado. I picked up a pretty complete set of the original here on Amazon as they phased it out 8-10 years ago at ridiculously cheap prices. I've used it ever since and am still very happy with it. I had the opportunity to test this Analon set though and it was too good a chance to pass up.For the time being I've retired the Calphalon to the basement (the original stuff seems to last forever and I can always go back) to give the Analon a fair shake. I had one small non-stick Analon (3/4 qt?) pot I picked up a long time ago and it still looks brand new so I'm well disposed to the brand. I do treat my cookware with the proper respect it deserves. No metal tools, no dishwasher, no steel woolI only soak if need be and use mostly nylon, silicone, or wood tools. If you want your expensive stuff to last that really is the best way. Once you make that conversion and change your habits it's pretty easy.

The set is impressive coming out of the box. It has a good heft and feel. While the bronze might not be the best fit with my decor, it's nicely subdued and doesn't seem like it would be one of those colors that will look dated in a couple of years. It's easy to do online research on the non-stick coating it hasDuponts Signature2. If you're uptight about non-stick or aluminum cookware you probably shouldn't be looking at this or any similar set. I don't think there's anything I've seen that indicates there's any problem with a set that used and maintained properly. I suppose it's possible like with any tool to damage or melt it into slag if you're not careful-but you're much more likely to get into a car accident than have cookware related health issues imho.

The non-stick surface is one of the best I've seen.Read the directions. Just to be clear, read the directions. Different cookware and different surfaces are as different to cook with as electric vs. gas stoves. The best way to cook with these if you're looking to get a "sear" is to bring the pan up to heat, then add your oil/spray, then add your food. You can get a sear and you can deglaze if you read the instructions.

I can't speak to the durability of this set yet. I've only used it a few times so far, but it still looks like I just unwrapped it.I have some iron fry pans from my grandmothers that I'd like to pass down, I expect I'll be able to pass on most of the Calphalon too (the non non-stick at least). It will be interesting to see how long this non-stick surface lasts. The claims would seem to indicate a very long time, but I don't know if non-stick has reached the point of becoming an heirloom.

()I thought I had some decent pans before, but my old pans are being quickly replaced by my new bronze beauties.I have been very pleased with the pans' performance so far.My scrambled eggs came out perfectly cooked with no need for any oil and cleaned up super easy. The saucepans have tall sides that have come in handy in that everything stays in the pan and, again, clean up is a breeze. With everything I have cooked so far, the handles stayed cool and were very comfortable to handle, for example I didn't need a potholder when I drained out the pasta I cooked up because the handles provided great stability and were cool to the touch when I carried it to the sink. The pans heat up well and heat up evenly, I even left some sautéed spinach in the pan while I was distracted for a minute by the phone no burning, no sticking, just yummy spinach (which I sautéed with just a smidgen of olive oil, no need for lots of oil and junk).I can think of a million uses for these pretty new pans.So far, they have performed great. And did I mention that clean up is super easy. It's time to love cooking again!

UPDATE: January 2012.I still love these pans. And I really appreciate the tall sides because nothing has spilled over while cooking like I've had with other pans.I still find clean up super easy.I recently got distracted while making a pasta sauce and it burned; I was afraid that clean up would be tough, but cleaning was a snap. These pans are still highly recommended.

()The color is a beautiful shade of bronze, which seeing it in person almost reminds me of rose gold, the pictures on Amazon don't do this color justice. It would go so well in many kitchens as it is neutral enough but has such visual interest. I can see it being beautifully paired with an industrial styled kitchen with lots of copper or silver accents. These are also all heavier pieces than I have ever cooked with before, which makes me feel like the quality is a lot higher. It takes some re-adjusting for energy used in techniques like my wrist flip with the saute pans but it is worth it.

The nonstick works better and cleans easier than any nonstick cookware I have ever used. They heat very fast and retain it well. As well, This product, although nonstick, will allow for searing, especially in the grill pan. I used the grill pan to sear a tuna steak and it left beautiful char marks. It did cook it faster than it would on my other cookware so I know now to readjust my timings.

I also used the stockpot to make some clams in a chorizo broth and it cooked it so well and very quickly again. And the small skillet is my go to piece since I like to just use that for all my mini-cooking projects like gyoza, eggs, or bacon.

I have noticed such a difference after cooking with this cookware. I believe that it comes from the fact that the heating is much more evenly distributed leading to uniform cooking when in the past with my other cookware, a lot of my cooking would be uneven.

I was very impressed with the actual nonstick surfaces but when I did unpack all the pieces, I noticed that one of the lids rims was dented. I'm not sure if it came that way or was dented when I was working with it but I obviously wasn't throwing these pieces around so I'm not sure if they are just easily dented or just came that way. This isn't a major problem as I'd prefer the quality be more in the cooking surfaces than in the lid anyway.

Epicurean Kitchen Utensils Saute Tool

Epicurean Kitchen Utensils Saute Tool, NaturalI purchased the Epicurean Saute Tool a couple of years ago and really liked it.It stood up to extensive use and repeated dishwashing. But when I ordered a replacement, I found that the tool has been redesigned. The new saute tool has a smaller head with a more angular shape.(The picture still shows the old version.)The new one is pointed at the edges instead of curved as shown in the picture. The quality seems to be the same, but I am disappointed that the shape was changed.I preferred the rounded edges of the original design.

This is a good saute tool, but better suited to a pan than a wok. Someone has posted new pictures showing the best view; the true shape is the brownish one to the right, in the photo of two tools together. The slate color is a lovely, matte black, not dark grey, to be exact about color. Except for the shape, this does work well and stands up to heat, so far. It's great for turning and pushing food around a frying pan. This one does work in a wok, of course, it's just not the optimal shape.

For wok fans, try the same brand, flat, long spoon: "Epicurean Kitchen Utensils Large Spoon", sold on Amazon for about same price as this. The curved edges of the flat spoon make scraping the sides of a wok easier than this more angular tool. Or, buy both this and the spoon! They make a terrific set for cooking many things. Use the two tools together in a wok, in a salad-tossing/mixing fashion, to thoroughly mix all ingredients. It's useful to have two tools of the same length! I'm happy to have both in my kitchen.

Sassafras Kids Pretzel Kit

Sassafras Kids Pretzel KitMy 6 year old son received this as a birthday gift.I was not sure if he would like it or not and I was a little skeptical.I was so surprised that my husband agreed to take on this project of making pretzels with him. The kit comes with a really cute chef hat for the child to wear.My son and husband looked so cute rolling the dough together that I just had to get out my camera! They both had fun and the pretzels tasted really good!I will buy this again for my chldren and as a gift to another child.

I LOVE the Sassafras kits.I have bought about 18 of them in the last few years for gifts. There are many of them for boys and girls if you just search Sassafras they will pull up.I always buy a book that coordinates with the kit that is a reader book since most of the gifts have gone to 5 and 6 year olds.I have never had any shipping issues and they have always come bubble wrapped and in great shape. These are really fun and cute.I have 7 in a closet right now because with 3 kids there is always a birthday party to go to!

All-Clad 5000-9 Stainless 9-Piece Cookware Set

All-Clad 5000-9 Stainless 9-Piece Cookware SetFor a good even heat, excellent quality of workmanship, and a dependable name, I can't think of anything better than All-Clad.For years, I used cheap cookware store non-stick skillets and hand-me-down pots and pans my mother used when she first got married. What a difference it makes.

Most cookware is way too thin, which leaves you with hotspots. For years, I would make up for this by using a cast iron "defuser" to even out the heat and keep the direct flame off the bottom of the pan.I don't have to do this any more. With the triple-layering, you get even heating, regardless of whether it's the middle of the pan or the outer edge.

Personally, I like the stainless.MC2 wasn't around when I bought mine, and I might have chosen that because of the low-maintanace exterior, but I'm not regretting it either.I don't have to be worrying about scratching through the coating with it and it cleans up easy enough with a little water and even less elbow grease.

Cooking will always be a chore, even if you enjoy the act in itself, if you never invest in good cookware and good knives. This is the first step on at least one of those. You might also wish to add a double-boiler, the steamer insert and a 1 qt. saucier; and maybe a larger stock pot (12 qt. if you can afford it), but this really lets you hit the ground running.

i've been using this set for over three years now, and have been very happy with it.

durability:no issues with handles coming loose, etc.almost all of the pans have remained even completely ding/dent free.my only complaint is that the bottom of one pan has domed slightly, so the pan does not lay completely flat on the burner, and heat distribution is affected.so while overall durability has been good, i'm knocking them down a point for this flaw.

cooking:these pans perform well.with the exception of the one mentioned above, all conduct heat evenly.no problem getting good crystalization of fats from meats, or browning vegetables in the oven.i think you definitely need a wider array of pans in your kitchen a nonstick and a cast iron are two i can think of right off the bat as well as some different types of metals for different applications.but this isn't something that you can hold against this product.just understand that this set won't cover ALL your pan needs.

cleaning:i've seen a lot of reviewers talk about how hard it is to clean these pans.it should be noted that pans are harder to clean, and stick more, if they're used less frequently.i think some of the issues people are having is because they're not using the pans frequently enough, or are not cooking foods at the proper temperatures.i've had no problems cleaning these pans.

pricing:aside from my issue with durability mentioned above, the is the only other area i feel detracts from this product.if the price is no object, or you can appreciate the cooking qualities of the pans and need something that looks good, i can see spending the money on this set.and i certianly wouldn't refuse it as a gift!however if you're on the fence about the price, and it's a financial stretch for you, i think you could put together a set of pans that will work just as well for much, much less.professional restaurant supply stores will sell pans that will work just as well as these for much less.they just won't be as pretty.so understand that you don't HAVE to spend this kind of money to get the same results.

so overall i'm happy with these pans.i'm disappointed one has warped slightly i should see if it's eligible for a replacement but aside from that they're great.

I bought this set back in January and must admit, it's gotten a lot of compliments from friends and neighbors. As with anything stainless steel, which is apparently all the rage these days, the look and feel (heavy!) of this cookware is impressive.

The most impressive thing I've noticed so far is the even temperature control throughout all of the pieces I purchased and have used so far.Even when boiling water, you can see at the bottom of the pot that the heat is being distributed evenly, which is a major downfall of most other cookware.

The first downside is that they are, in my experience, a PAIN to clean.Following the manufacturers recommendation to NOT put them in the dishwasher, I have washed them by hand after every use.I highly recommend washing them IMMEDIATELY after use to avoid having to spend a lot of time getting them clean.

The other downside is that I think these pots and pans will work much better on gas cooktops than on radiant cooktops.Fortunately, I'll have gas cooktops again in a few months, but really feel that buyers with radiant cooktops should test out a piece or two before commiting to the whole set.

Other than those two minor downsides, this is a "keep-for-life" set of pots and pans, and well worth the investment.Check out the rest of the All Clad stainless series for other great pieces (highly recommend the omelette pan to complete this set in particular).

This is my second set of All Clad. When I installed a Viking gas cooktop a year ago, I discovered why all the pros use All Clad....my thick-bottomed, thin-walled cookware couldn't take the heat and food burned on the sides rather than the bottom. My darling husband gave me a full set of MC2 and from that point on I was hooked.I have added several pieces via Amazon's great buys, both MC2 and stainless which I love.Mind you, my previous cookware was all non-stick so this was a challenge but once I figured out the proper way to cook I've had no problem with anything sticking and I hardly ever use any fat besides cooking sprays. It's so simple:preheat the cookware! It only takes a minute on medium heat then you can spray the pan and add your food and nothing sticks.Cleanup is a breeze and the stuff is so gorgeous I bought a stainless rack to display it.If you are serious about cooking, buy this set. It's a fantastic deal and it will last a lifetime.I'm betting some of you will even go on to buy a pro-type cooktop or stove after you start using All Clad. It's really true that the right cookware makes all the difference and this is the right stuff!

A chef who works the line in one of New York's best restaurants may tell you that your cookware won't really change the way you cook. That chef, however, may just be jealous you just bought one of the best investments you could ever make. Consider this. The computer you're reading this on probably cost more than 500 dollars. It willlast you, generously, 4 years. The set of All-Clad you just bought also cost more than 500 dollars. It will last you, conservatively, the rest of your life if you take care of it properly.

You can get the pro's and con's from a lot of other reviews and reading material, but I want to share one bit of advice that made the final choice for me. I did hours of online and print research before finally making a choice. I tried matching up individual pieces, compared sets v. non-sets, looked at what I really needed in closer detail, and, lastly, "agonized" between Calphalon and All-Clad.

Why did All-Clad stainless win? I love technology, especially stuff that makes our lives easier (like cleaning). So I was leaning pretty heavily toward Calphalon One for a while (it's even slightly cheaper). But then I came to a quick conclusion one night while eating at a Florentine's house: tried and true, stainless steel can make some incredibly good food. If you're in the market now, as you most likely are considering you're reading this (hopefully), then maybe, like me, you'll think to yourself, maybe I should wait a while for this "One" concept to see how well it lasts. All-Clad will last me my life. Proof positive. And I won't have to be sending any of it in the mail (hopefully).

It wasn't an easy choice, but after just about 5 meals I've cooked in them, my friends are already smiling (and my roommates are incredibly happy). The cleanup (which is what really racked my conscience for a while. I am a college kid at heart who hates to do dishes) is, in all honesty, not AS easy as non-stick, but after a little soaking in soapy water and with the magic of Bar Keeper's Friend, well, done done and doner.

While this may be a once-in-a-lifetime purchase for you, beware, the pans are infectious.

Silit Fresh 11-Inch Fry and Serve Pan, Lemon Green

Silit Fresh 11-Inch Fry and Serve Pan, Lemon GreenIn my never ending quest to improve myhealth, I discovered that the nickel in stainless steel was affecting me adversely.I began searching for "nickel-free" stainless steel, and in a round about way, my Google Searches led me to the Silit brand of "allergy-free cookware".Amazon.com had the best price that I could find, so I ordered the 9 inch and the 11 inch "Fry and Serve Pans".

They are on the heavy side (they weight the same as cast iron). This is a bit of a challenge with the 11 inch Fry and Serve as I am trying to get the contents out and into a storage container.

I was nervous that they would fail to live up to the "non-stick" claim lucky for me, that fear was unwarranted. They are wonderfully "non-stick" (it is like cooking on glass).Clean up is a breeze.

And Wow are they Beautiful! The colors in my kitchen are yellow, blue and green.I may have to buy a pot hanger, and find a reason to buy a blue and a yellow Silit cookware piece so that I can display them coordinating with my kitchen colors!

Chef's Secret 3 Piece Aluminum Fry Pan Set

Chef's Secret 3 Piece Aluminum Fry Pan SetOverall these are terrific pans built to sturdy professional quality standards. However, I was disappointed because the handles are not at all as pictured. My wife wanted something she could put in the oven when needed, and these aluminum pans were supposed to fit that need.Instead, the handles have molded-on black rubber grips. The instructions that come with this set specifically warn against putting the pans in the oven.

Camp Chef 20IN Lumberjack Skillet Lid

Lumberjack Steel Skillet Lid in Black Seasoned FinishThis lid is not cast iron.It is made of a very light metal.I bought it along with the 20' inch cast iron skillet. When I found the skillet to be warped and sent it back, I had to pay shipping to send this back. So, not only was it a cheap item, I had to pay to get rid of it.Next time, I will be sure that my item is from a different company and a better quality.

I bought this lid to cover my Bayou Classics 20" cast iron skillet. It works, though not perfectly. It does cover the whole opening but just barely I'm sure Bayou would have had a tighter fit had they made one. It's really light slightly too light, but again I'm lucky that it exists. Stu

Mauviel Cookware: M'Stone2 Aluminum Frying Pan with Stainless Handle

Mauviel M'stone2 8229.28 Frying Pan, 11-InchMauviel M"Stone2 11 inch is a high quality heavy duty pan for a serious home user. The quality of the pan is definitely good enough for use in a commercial kitchen. A great buy and perfect for home use.

I bought two of the 8" pans in July 2011 and was initially very happy. After a couple of months I began to notice that the middle of one pan was swelling, so that oil or sauce did not cover the middle of the pan unless it was a quarter inch or more thick. One flat, one not.I assumed the in-laws or someone must have done something wrong.

On 12/30/2012 I decided to try again since they look and feel very nice. This time I tried a couple of the 9.2" pans.Upon arrival i immediately tested the pans for their "flatness".I poured the exact same amount of water in each and once again, one is flat, one is not. They both have very different dry/wet patterns...exactly like the 8" pans before.

This must be a flaw in quality and unless you like to roll the dice and try to get the flat one, I would go elsewhere with your decision. The amount of oil to cover the entire bottom of one pan is exactly twice the amount of the flat one.Not the way anyone I know wants to cook.I will move to return the new 9.2" and will let you know how it goes.

Texsport Cast Iron Griddle - 9-1/2-Inch x 20-Inch

Texsport Cast Iron Griddle - 9-1/2-Inch x 20-InchGreat Griddle.Fits my coleman camp stove perfectly. Item was shipped in sturdy box.It had no cracks or defects of any kind. The coating came of fairly easy.I lite my charcol grill off and heated it up over a hot bed of coals.Using oven mitts, I wiped of the coating with a paper towel.Repated the process afew times waiting about five minutes between wipes. Then, while coals were still hot, seasoned griddle with several coatings of bacon grease and left on grill till the coals were out and griddle was cool to the touch.Have take camping several times and have no complaints.

This is a great product. It is NOT seasoned.I put mine on our grill, wiped away the wax sealant (not much at all), poured oil on both sides and let it cook. After 15 min. it was already getting dark.I turned it a few times, added a bit more oil.All in all it did not take long or much effort and it turned out great. It is large and I've cooked pizzas on it (though it's obviously not meant for that. An iron pizza pan is more expensive though).

Love it.

I purchased this griddle to use on a gas range.I rinsed the griddle lightly with water, dried it with a paper towel, and then put it in the oven, first on 350F for about 10 minutes, then 400F for about 10 minutes.I removed the griddle from the oven (using thickly padded pot holders), wiped off the liquid waxy substance with paper towels, oiled the griddle on both sides with olive oil, using folded paper towels to wipe it down, and then put the griddle back in the oven on 400F, 450F, then 400F.It took about 1-1/2 hours for the whole seasoning process.I then used the griddle to make a batch of pancakes for freezing.Pancakes were perfect, no sticking.I used a light coating of nonstick pan spray also just before pouring the mix.Later on, I used the griddle (grill side up) to make a ham and cheese panini. It worked perfectly!Fits the gas range just right.Nice price, too :)I should mention that I placed a sheet of heavy duty aluminum foil on the oven rack and put the griddle directly on it to catch the liquid wax during the first 20 minutes in the oven.I removed the foil for the rest of the seasoning process.
