12" COMMERCIAL ALUMINUM FRY FRYING PAN - NSF GRADE

12' COMMERCIAL ALUMINUM FRY FRYING PAN - NSF GRADEWe had originally ordered a smaller version of this item and were very pleased. But, it was not large enough for creating dishes for company. This size is just fine and heats up well on the larger, standard burner on a home range.I am not sure I would want to try a larger one unless I had special burners.

Clean up has been easier than I thought, too.

It does what it is supposed to do just like most other such pans. No reason not to like it.

RE: Straight to the point! Look up Heavy Metal Poisoning, including Aluminum

This goes for all Aluminum cookware all across the board on NOT just Amazon but all over the internet.I just decided to look this up on my favorite etailer just to see if it were being sold on Amazon after reading the dangerous side effects of Heavy Metal poisoning from pure Aluminum cookware.

People on ships died from Heavy Metal poisoning in the past from lead, mercury, etcNeed I say anymore. These short term to long term side effects is no joke!

Clipper Aluminum Seamless Pizza Screen

Clipper 215-00270 16-Inch Aluminum Seamless Pizza ScreenDURABLE, LONG LASTING: The screen is made from heavy-gauge aluminum, this pan isn't too thin or flimsey.the ring around the outside is also quite thick and flat-rolled onto the screen. Nice, heavy restaurant-style stuff.I look forward to many years of use out of this.

STURDY: I have built pizzas on this thing, loaded up with toppings and sauce, and it is stiff enough to easily maneuver in and out of the oven.I have used it in both a standard oven, and also in my "wave" oven.Fits perfectly in the wave oven, bought it specifically for this application, but it will work well anywhere you are baking.Perfect size if you don't need a huge pizza, but the small size makes it very flexible in use.I think it might even fit pretty easily in a toaster oven too.Happy Baking!

WOULD I BUY IT AGAIN: Absolutely.. and they are so cheap, I bought two of them.. if I was to do it again, I'd probably get three.

Pizza screen are the best way to get a nice crisp crust. I have not had it long so I can't comment on durability.

We purchased a cooking screen like this about 5 years ago ... nice for Pizza (cooking or reheats), tatter tots, etc.We have looked and looked without much lluck for a replacement since our original unit after using it hundreds of times has taken it's toll, so was delighted to find this product on Amazon Great price under $6, so bought 3.Just received them excellent quality and so-o happy to find them. The crust on your pizza is really nice using this type screen tatter tots crispy vs more traditional pizza pans ... e-z to clean -just put it in the dishwasherhighly recommend without any reservation.

I could never get the hang of my pizza peel, probably because it was so cheap and rough my dough stuck to it and I could never shake it off in one piece onto my pizza stone even with lots of corn meal on it. So I started using a pizza pan, the kind with holes in it, but it left my crust all soggy. So I tried this screen. I stretched the dough and put it directly on the screen (sprayed with some Pam). Then I put the screen with the pizza on my stone and it came out great. The crust had a great crispy bottom but was still fold able like a New York style should be. Now my pizza pan is just used to transfer the cooked pizza onto for slicing. The screen is well built and lightweight. I got the 16" and it's perfect for a large family sized pizza, but I might order a few smaller ones to make individual pizzas.

I have had a couple of pizza screens for over 20 years. This is built better than the previous ones with a heavier rim, so should be more durable. We use them for cookie cooling racks and noodle strainers as well (flat against the kettle)

One of my old ones finally became bent and torn so found this one for half the price of my 20-year old one.

Catches most of the cheese that might bubble off and otherwise land on the oven bottom.Allows for even baking of pizzas, frozen or fresh, although we use a solid pizza pan for a couple minutes first with fresh-dough pizzas to make sure that the crust has started to skin a little, then transfer to the screen to finish baking.

Works well for making garlic or cheese toast too.Better to get a 16" since it fits in most ovens and can bake anything smaller, rather than a too-small sized one.

To clean, let it soak on top of the pizza pan in warm soapy water then use a brush if there is stuff in the holes. Only takes a minute.

Mexican Origins 10 inch Preseasoned Cast Iron Skillet

Mexican Origins 10 inch Preseasoned Cast Iron SkilletBought this 10" skillet over 10 years ago. Once I got it well seasoned it never failed me. Fish, beef, sausage, chicken and even peppers/onions come out great in this skillet. Clean up with just hot water and pot scrub brush and ready to go again. I would compare to Lodge. I have a 15" Lodge and it is built just as well. Highly recommended.

My cast iron skillet arrived when expected and in the condition expected.I already had an 8" and a 12" cast iron skillet and wannted to have the 10" size also because I loved the others!

GREAT PAN. IT WAS A RESCUE. I FOUND IT IN A BOX DIRTY AND RUSTY. CLEANED IT UP AND HAVE USED IT FOR YEARS.

Positive: The pan is great for the price. Not their fault: I forgot how heavy iron skillets can be.

I have read that iron cookware is a great way to add iron to your diet without taking a supplement. Honest! Plus I like the fact that I'm not dealing with non-stick coatings that aren't necessarily good for you. I read the reviews before purchasing the pan so I wasn't surprised when the cooking surface was a little bit bumpy unlike my grandmother's ancient skillet that is smooth on the bottom from a million years of use. My husband would prefer a pan that he can toss in the dishwasher but he supports my efforts to start living a healthier lifestyle. It's a good skillet and came nicely seasoned. It's a keeper.

As long time users of cast iron, we finally decided a second 10 inch skillet would be helpful. We purchased this skillet for 2 reasons: it lacked the "extra hand hold" opposite the skillet handle and other reviewers said it was superior to Lodge. This skillet is NOTHING like the cast iron we currently have. It cooks okay, but the surface of the skillet bottom is very rough, so the "quick wipe out" that we are accustomed to doing with our others is not possible with this one. Even with a lot of oil or lard, paper towels will snag on the surface and leave behind little fuzzy bits that I would prefer not to have with my next meal. The skillet does, however, heat uniformly and so cooking on it is acceptable.

Cuisinart Contour Hard Anodized Open Skillet

Cuisinart 6422-30H Contour Hard Anodized 12-Inch Open Skillet with Helper HandleThe product is excellent and I highly recommend, however the description implies that the 10" and 8" come with a glass lid which I did not receive. The Skillet is still worth the price alone, therefore I will be keeping it. Four stars for misrepresentation.

I was surprised at how well and sturdy this pan is made and how easy it is to cook on.Things don't stick and the sides are steeper than a regular pan so it allows you to put more food in than that average 8" pan.Great for a single meal, frittata, pancakes. One perk is you can stick in under the broiler.A lot of pans aren't broiler safe like this one (says on the package). The only drawback is it does not have a lid and I can't find an 8" lid anywhere.I'm going to check out the salvation army for an oddball lid size.

Corning Visions Visionware Amber 10.75" Skillet Frying Pan w/ Lid

Corning Visions Visionware Amber 10.75' Skillet Frying Pan w/ Lid
  • Corning Visions Visionware Amber 10.75" Skillet Frying Pan w/ Lid

I prefer a non-toxic pan for cooking which is why I purchased this glass cookware.

For cooking vegetables and items that don't stick really badly, the Visionware has been great. I use this particular pan mainly to sautee or steam vegetables and to fry bacon.

It cleans up nicely when you soak it and scrub it out with a plastic scrubber. I then place it in the dishwasher for a thorough cleaning.

I have used Visionware for about 22 years, including this frying pan. I don't know why Visions made a 10" and a 10 3/4" skillet but I have both sizes and I have several of each due to my tendancy to batch cook.

The frying pan has never failed or exploded on me.

However, there have been some complaints about exploding Visionware (Google is your friend).

Some incidents can be attributed to thermal shock such as running cool water in a hot pot, or placing the hot item on a cool surface, or putting the cookware on a heat source with no water in it.

Also, if you have chipped, cracked, or scratched cookware, it is recommended that you discard it.

I would recommend carefully checking your cookware and discarding it if it is damaged.

You will want to avoid scratching it with metal utensils.

BergHOFF Earthchef Montane 14.25" Frying Pan

BergHOFF Earthchef Montane 14.25' Frying PanIf you are looking for non stick this pan may be for you. The ceramic coating is great, nothing sticks and clean up is easy. However there are a few things I wish were better. The bottom of the pan has a black almost sprayed on finsh. I use this pan on a gas stove and moving the pan along the cast iron grates causes the black finish to become chipped. Also the pan seems to be raised in the center. If you place liquids in the pan the liquid slows off to the sides.

As a lot of people are these days, I switched to this pan from my lovely All-Clad nonstick due to health reasons. No point in feeding my kids organic foods if they are being poisoned by Teflon chemicals.So...I was so hoping to love this pan like my All-Clad.I do a lot of high heat cooking.I needed a lid cause I like to brown and/or steam in my daily pan.I found a great lid for it Scanpan Classic Ceramic Titanium 14-Inch Stainless Cover that fit it perfectly.But...it has hot spots. It is higher in the middle so all the sauce runs to the edge and the middle of course burns. It doesn't retain the heat as well as All-Clad.It's not as good of nonstick so when the sauce thickens it sticks to the pan so my meat tends to turn out bland. I have to soak it to clean it.But it does not stick like regular stainless steel pans so I still use it everyday.I'm starting get used to the annoyance...but I still miss my All-Clad every time I use it.I got it super big cause I was hoping to do more of batch cooking. But since it doesn't retain heat as well, I end up cooking about the same amount of food on it as my previous 12 inch pan and spread it out more (and I have one of those super high heat gas stoves). So, either it's burning my food or my veggies are often swimming in the liquid.Yet, it's better than eating cancer causing chemical and it's better than stainless steel.

I'd thought of this large a pan for some time.I'm glad I finally acquired this pan. It's technology is wonderful. particularly distribution of heat.Cleaning is easy. This pan allows cooking lots of bacon at once.Or, several entities at once.I don't need a lid for it.It's the first item for me from this manufacturer and I'll consider them first in the future.

We originally bought a 10 and 14 inch skillet for the inlaws. when we got them it was obvious the 14 was to big for the in-laws stove so we kept it and ordered a 12 for them. I love the skillet and it holds up well to heat even though it is a no ptfe non-stick skillet. it cooks evenly but we can only use it on one burner of our stove because of how large it is. If you have a commercial stove and a big family, it is great. Otherwise get the 12 or 10 inch version

Heuck Pre-Seasoned Cast Iron Cookware 9-1/4-Inch Square Grill Pan

Heuck Pre-Seasoned Cast Iron Cookware 9-1/4-Inch Square Grill PanThe first thing I'd like to say it that this is pretty small. The widest inside measurement is 8-5/8" not 9-1/4". It's also very light weight and would be good for camping. That being said we have grilled a few very large chicken breast, a Salmon Filet and a few Turkey Burgers so far. They all came out good. For the two of us it's perfect. Cleans up easily with hot water. I have cooked with Cast Iron most of my life. I oil and re-heat after each use. Sort of a continual seasoning. However if you have a larger family I would get a bigger pan.

I love grilled meat, but live in an apartment. This pan is a good way to get my grill on at the stovetop. I also use it to grilled sandwichs, but a word of caution use it with hearty breads, not soft Sara Lee-type breads. Works well on my electric stove, haven't tried it on a gas stove.

I thoroughly dislike this pan and have given it to Good Will.It is impossible to clean because food sticks to it in between the ridges [even if you use something like Pam or just straight olive oil].Flat cast iron surfaces are much easier to maintain.I am disappointed not to be able to get the benefits of cast iron in a grill pan.I am going back to stainless steel.

Used this for the first time last night on a rib-eye steak.

The interior surface is roughnot the raised lines, which are desireable but the cast-iron itself.

The pan did not heat evenly and I had to add two minutes to the broil time.

Rachael Ray Porcelain Enamel II Nonstick 12-1/2-Inch Skillet

Rachael Ray Porcelain Enamel II Nonstick 12-1/2-Inch Skillet, Blue GradientI love this pan! I've been cooking for a living for more than 25 years and this is one of the best teflon pans I've ever used. Nice heavy aluminum, not one that feels like it was made out of a pop can. Handle feels very strong and is comfortable to grip. Made my husband fried eggs without using any grease and the eggs came out perfect. You taste the eggs not the grease. It came clean with just a quick wipe. The enamel on the outside is beautiful, shading from light to deep blue. I am looking forward to getting more of this cookware.

Much better than expected. This is wonderful for all the frying we do!Love it and will definitely buy it again if it holds up over time.

I hardly ever do reviews on Amazon, but I'm doing this to save you the disappointment I have experienced.

I got this skillet in December 2011 (not through Amazon).I used the skillet with extreme caution so as not to damage the inside.I have used these types of skillets as long as they have been made and until now got years of service out of them.I NEVER put it or for that matter any metal skillet or pan in the dishwasher or used a metal utensil in it.After no more than 6 uses, the inside coating started peeling out in chunks up to 1 inch.

I contacted the company and was told I had to ship it to them (me paying for the shipping). They would then review the product and determine then if they would replace or if it had not been taken care of properly.I was also told it could take up to 12 weeks before I may receive a replacement. So I'm without a big skillet for that long--I only have 1 12-1/2 inch skillet.Would they actually replace?Who knows...I have spent all the money that I ever will on Rachel Ray products. No Rachel Ray for me and I would highly recommend you purchase something besides Rachel Ray, unless you like to gamble or wish to make an investment in the product (initial purchase, shipping fees to return and maybe get a replacement and be without a skillet while they decide if they will replace it).

Wanted this set...but when I saw the saute pan I couldnt resisit.I thought that the pan would have come with a top, but I guess I have to wait for the full set.Otherwise I love the color, this one is a two toned blue, some are just plain ole blue so it gives it a bit more of a design instead of boring blue. The pan is a bit heavy, but my hands arent that great due to sickness but I manage.Pan is great, non-stick, none of the color fading or washing off.Would buy other sets, if she came out with a lightweight set I would love it also.

First I would say this pan is a pan. It is coated with teflon and works wonders. It is a bit oversized compared to the standard 12 in pan and makes me that much happier.

I like the high sides and makes it that much easier to cook with. The teflon seems very durable and should last a long time.

The rivets are not coated and things can accumulate around them. Just clean around the rivets and you should be fine.

The paint job on this looks awesome...a two tone color that really looks nice...unless you got the one I did. I got one with a nick in it and someone had the nerve to color over it with a blue marker.

I have used this numerous times so far. It works great and as described. I can see the bottom wearing off first, then maybe the teflon over normal or high use.

With the price and happiness it has brought me so far, I would recommend it to all!

UPDATE 1/30/13: I would say that though this pan is still a nice pan, it doesn't seem to hold well with use. The Teflon already has scratches in it where other brands I use do not. It seems that the Teflon isn't as thick as others that I have. I would say long term, it may not hold up as long as I would have expected.

T-fal C811SA64 Elegance Stainless Steel Dishwasher Safe 10-Piece Cookware Set, Silver

T-fal C811SA64 Elegance Stainless Steel Dishwasher Safe 10-Piece Cookware Set, SilverI hesitated before I purchased this set because some of the reviews were not favorable. Some of the reviews were a total 5, so I wondered how there could be such a huge gap between the purchaser's reviews.A little homework answered the question.

This is a beautiful set, and if handled ACCORDING TO THE DIRECTIONS, should stay in beautiful shape. One of the reviewers stated that her cookware turned blue after being put into the dishwasher. The directions distinctly state that this is a normal condition for stainless steel and can be remedied by wiping lemon juice or vinegar over the pot/pan.It works; just as stated.

Another reviewer stated that her pan warped. This happens when the heat is too high.Instructions fully state that one should not use this cookware on HIGH.It does not take much heat to allow the food to cook. There is an aluminum disk inserted in the bottom to conduct the heat.Aluminum DOES warp and melt under extremely high conditions.

One reviewer stated that the steel could be bent with her fingers. Perhaps she had a defective piece, as there is NO WAY I could do such a thing.I hand quilt everyday and am a professional seamstress.I have a lot of strength in my fingers; but still, it is an impossibility to bend this steel.Granted, the cookware is not a professional HEAVY weight, but it is a cookware that is bit weighty, but easy to handle, and light enough to produce quick heat.

Last night I fried salmon patties, and the pan cleaned up nicely.I used a little BonAmi, which is similar to Bartender's Secret, which is recommended by the manufacturer.I have cooked chili, boiled pasta, steamed veggies...all to success and my cookware looks new.

Although I cook everyday, I did not want to continue with my non-stick cookware.I thought it would be a good idea to purchase a reasonably priced stainless set to get used to cooking with stainless; eventually moving up to a more pricey set if necessary. At this point, I do not think I will need to move up to a more pricey set, but will purchase additional pieces of the T-fal Elegance, including the chicken fryer and the 3 qt.pot/lid.I did already purchase the 12.5 saute pan and it is very useful.

I love this set and think the price does not speak for it's excellence. It is a LOT of value for the money.

I like this set.It is very good quality for the price.I bought it because it is induction usable--it does not say that in the ad, but I had seen this in a store and bought a single pan to test.

The lids are very nice fitting, with a hole in them.I wish the lids fit the pans too, but they do not.

This is not super thick steel for many reasons.Reasons include heavy weight, a pan that will not cool down (especially critical for induction), handles stay cool if thinner, and cost.I do not find any of the items flimsy at all.It is somewhat thin feeling but very amply sturdy. It does not bend on me at all--even trying.I did not try a hammer on it, but do not find a reason to.

I think this is a good deal for what you get.

I wanted to get away from aluminum and coated cookware and decided to give this a try. My concern was that it would burn and stick and be difficult to clean as was inexpensive stainless cookware I have tried in the past. I saw it at my local WalMart and was impressed with it's quality and weight. Also their price was $36 higher! I have been surprised at how little sticking happens and have had no burning to the bottom or hard to clean experiences. The heat transfer is so efficient I can cook at lower temperatures. I can see how this set will last me the rest of my life.

Want T-fal C811SA64 Elegance Stainless Steel Dishwasher Safe 10-Piece Cookware Set, Silver Discount?

Lets get a few things out of the way.

1. I'm not a "professional cook" But I cook somewhat complex meals daily.

2. I had no experience with stainless so I actually took the time to do some research, silly, I know.

3. I'm the the cheapest person on the planet, however I don't scrimp or save when it comes to important things, like cookware. I'm cheep not destitute.

I've been researching stainless steel cookware because, like most of you, I want to get away from the non-stick flakes in my food.I research almost everything I buy almost too much. But this cookware set was a little bit different. I saw these here on Amazon but to be honest the price was a deterrent in terms of it being to low for my brain to associate it with good quality. I read the write-up and kept a mental image in my mind, but quickly dismissed it.

After months of research I was leaning towards, of course, a $600+ set made by All-Clad, they are the best in the industry, after all. I had almost bitten the ordering bullet a few different times but that little voice in the back of my head kept screaming "hey, idiot you're gonna drop $600 dollars on a type of cookware you've never used? Why don't you just buy a cheep pan to see if you even like cooking with stainless" Once again that annoying little voice saved me some cash.

My girlfriend and I were at 'Goodwill' last week on my monthly hunt for pre-50's stuff, I have a problem, I can admit it, and we saw these two really beat-up, and I mean beat-up, stainless steel frying pans from this very set. The 10.5 inch and the smaller one for $2.99 and 1.99, respectively. It looked like someone had tried cooking in them and whatever it was it didn't work out to well for them. They were so bad I quickly dismissed them as I thought they were non-salvageable. But, again, that little voice popped up to remind me that during my research on stainless steel cookware I had seen someone posted a before and after picture of really bad stainless steel pans and how well 'Bar Keepers Friend' cleaned them up. So I figured for $5 bucks, what the hay.

As soon as I got them home I went at them with steel wool and 'Bar Keepers Friend'. Sure enough after about 20 minutes they were shinning like new.

After making sure they were really, really clean I decided to try these bad boys out.

The first thing I made was sautéed mushrooms and onions in the small pan and steaks in the bigger pan. From my research I remembered to season the pans with olive oil and preheat them for a few minutes on no higher the medium heat. After doing all this I put all of the food in. I was really worried about the steak sticking because, well flesh sticks but after remembering the other major advice I picked up about cooking with stainless steel "I LEFT THE FOOD ALONE!" When it came time to flip the steak absolutely no sticking at all, on either one. There was a little caramelization in both pans but it came right of.My first cooking experience with stainless steel was a success...and the food tasted AMAZING!

The next morning I tried the stainless steel litmus test eggs. Following the above steps my egg white omelet turned out great. Over the next few days I threw all the most stick inducing foods I could think of not one issue, with the food!

I did have a few issues with staining on the pans but my new best friend 'Bar Keepers Friend" bailed me out each and every time. After a week I decided to skip on the two-car-payment-sized All-Clad and just buy a complete set of these.

Now to address some of the negatives I've read here on Amazon.

Someone said they "could bend it with the pressure of just one finger." Um. no you can't and believe me I'm a big dude who spends way to much time in the gym, girlfriends words, not mine!

Someone said "they stain easily." yes, that's why you CLEAN THEM!

Someone said the "the lids don't fit the skillets." True, hence why they're called "skillets"

Someone said "the included metal spatulas scratches the cookware really bad."Not from my experience. The included spatula & spoon are not of the best quality but they're certainly up for the tasks at hand, even without scratching but even so I use wood utensils, always have, always will.

Someone said "the handle gets so HOT that I've burn my hand several times." These handles stay cold to the touch, save for once incident where I let the handle hang over the edge of the stove while I had the oven door open, for probably 2 minutes as I was distracted by bright shiny colors on the T.V., then, and only then did a handle get hot.

Last, but not least, my favorite complaint, which seems to be a theme shared by all the negative reviews -"food sticks." Food will only stick to these pans if you do any one of or combination of the following; not preheating, not using oil, using too high of a temperature or just not paying attention.

The important thing to remember is you really have to change the way you cook. It takes me on average 30% longer to prepare meals with this new cookware but the trade off is the food tastes so much better and you don't have to worry about consuming the Teflon, they say is safe for you, today!

About the actual pans.

Heres the odd thing. The pans I got at 'Goodwill,' the same ones in the pictures on here, are a little different then the complete set I bought, somewhere else. I think the ones from the set are an updated version of the ones they're selling here. The pans are a few ounces heavier, the handles are more rounded and the bottom has a different design. They kinda look like the bottoms of the T-fal C798SC64 Ultimate Stainless Steel Copper-Bottom Multi-Layer Base 12-Piece Cookware Set but without the copper. I actually like the old design better, Anyways I thought you guys should be aware. I can post a picture if anyone wants me to.

The reason I gave 4 stars and not 5 is because there are some flaws.

The handles, on everything could be finished a little better. They seem a bit "rougher" then they should. This is especially true for the handles on the pots and there respective lids. Now, I don't feel like they'll cut me, but every time I pick one up(pots and lids)the thought does enter my mind... Just be aware.

Also the lids do not fit snugly on the pans. It's not really an issue, cooking wise, just a little annoyance.

Finally the rivets, and this is just a personal gripe. These come with a 25 year warranty. I promise you the rivets will fail before that. Rivets only last so long under constant load changes and from my experience when they begin to fail it's best just to get rid of the pan, or if you know how, drill them out and either put new ones in or do as, in my opinion, every manufacture should do, replace them with nuts and bolts, or screws. It may be a pain to have to tighten a screw on a handle, but at least with screws you can tighten them.

Other then the rivets there is no doubt in my mind that these will last 25 years or more, if you take care of them. They're nowhere near as fancy or as well built as the the high end cookware but really do they have to be? In my opinion They are built well enough to more then justify the price and they're an above par entry level set that you probably won't ever feel a need to replace.

Final thoughts

These are oven safe up to 500 degrees according to the direction, I didn't see that anywhere else so I thought I'd share it.

Now, If you want to make the switch to stainless remember three important rules.

1. Preheat WITH oil... Always use oil--olive oil, Canola oil, don't use vegetable oil, people!--even with hamburger or sausage, I've never cooked sausage in these pans, but I can assume.

2. Never go above medium heat except when boiling water or reducing liquids.

3. LEAVE THE FOOD ALONE. You'll know when it's time to flip because the piece of food will almost glide with just a small nudge.

Nostalgia Electrics FG100-BLK Folding Electric Griddle

Nostalgia Electrics FG100-BLK Folding Electric GriddleThe griddle was shipped very quickly, and arrived in good, boxed condition. However, I wish that I had listened to the reviews that said it was cheap. This griddle folds, and that is its only great feature. The plates cannot be taken off to be thoroughly cleaned. The nonstick coating has already started to peel, and I've only had it for a month. Additionally, the plates do not even brown your food--there seem to be some real "hot spots". Would not recommend anyone buy this one--go with the more expensive models!

This skillet is big enough for family meals, and the thermostat works, not like the other brands. Simmer is Simmer.

Oster CKSTSKFM05 16-Inch Electric Skillet, Black and Stainless Steel

i've been looking at electric skillets for a while now and finally decided to get this one. it was excellently packaged when it arrived so it came safe and sound. after removing it from the packaging and seasoning it as recommended, i was anxious to try it out. it's size makes storage a bit of a challenge, which i didn't take into consideration when i bought it, but that's my problem and has nothing to do with how it works. LOL the black and chrome goes perfectly in my kitchen and blends in well with other utinsels.

Cooking: i don't know if this is common with this particular skillet, but mine has a very definite hot spot on the opposit end of the plugin. this means that half of my chicken as rather burnt and half was perfect. i thought it might be an abhoration or something but fried potatoes did the same thing. 2 stars

Control Dial: there are no marks between degree temps. the temp goes up in 50 degree incriments, but there is no way to tell where anything in between them is. for instance, there is 320 and 370 degree marks, but nothing for 325 or 350 degrees. it's all by guess and by golly. however, the numbers seem to be protected somewhat and don't appear to want to rub off with use. 3 stars

Lid: the lid doesn't fit as snugly as i would like, but it's better than some things i have. however, it does have a steam vent on it and that can be problematic when cooking rice dishes. being clear is a huge benefit as there's no need to lift it to see how things are going. 4 stars

so overall, my rating for this skillet would be 3 stars. i hope this helps someone who's contemplating this skillet. just remember that it is quite large so if you have a small family it may be more than you need. but for larger families it would be perfectly sized.

The Amazon product description for this description reads:"...a 16 inch skillet," and "The unit provides a smooth cooking area (measuring a generous 16 by 20-inches) that heats quickly and evenly."

In reality, the actual dimensions of the cooking area are only 11 5/8" inches by 15 inches.

I'm not one to nit-pick minor deviations in product descriptions, but the product description on this electric skillet is not even close to being accurate.

I thought that I had ordered an over-sized skillet, and I was surprised and disappointed at how small it was when I took it out of the box.For the life of me, I can't figure out how the author of this product description came up with a "cooking area measuring a generous 16 by 20-inches."

I have notified Amazon and intend to return the unused skillet for a full refund and continue my search for a larger skillet.

I've purchased many items from Amazon, and have always received products that have matched (or come close to matching) the described described dimensions that I have ordered until this electric skillet.

Amazon either should fix the incorrect product description or deliver an electric skillet with the described dimensions.Until Amazon does so, hopefully this post will save others from making the same mistake that I did.

The Oster CKSTSKFM05 16-Inch Electric Skillet, Black and Stainless Steel is very well made. You can refer to other reviews regarding the cooking performance such as the temperature control actually works! For anyone interested in an electric skillet you might want a better description:

The actual cooking bowl is a nominal 12" x 15".Regardless of the inaccuracy of the description on the web site, this is a nice size skillet.MOST IMPORTANT...and this is specifically what I was looking for, the wall height -on the insideis 3" deep!!!THAT is a big plus in my book, because few skillets have that kind of depth.

Overall dimensions are 12" x 20" where the handles and the electric plug controller make up the difference between the 15" bowl and 20" overall length.

Overall height is 5 1/4" without lid, 8" with lid, and just under 6" with the lid upside down for storage. The glass lid fits nicely and has a hole for steam venting.

This skillet is well made yet not too heavy. It has the isolated "stay cool" handles (probably bakelight) so that you can pick it up even when it's hot.The electric cord is just over two feet.It is high quality, very flexible 16 gauge wire with the high temperature insulation (HPN).If the length seems short, I would personally say that the last thing I want on an appliance like this is a long dangling cord.Use it properly and plug it in right next to an outlet. If you need more length then purchase a good quality heavy duty flexible extension cord.

The temperature control knob provides variable temperature control from "simmer" through 420°F.Markings are in both °F and °C and are graduated; "simmer", 220, 270, 320, 370 and 420°F (English) and 105, 130, 160, 190, and 215°C (Metric). The temperature control is rated 15 amps.

The skillet has a 1 year limited warranty.

I'm not certain if there is a perfect electric fry pan. As it stands, this one isn't perfect but it offers more than the other ones I've owned.

Based on the size, it is a little bigger than my last one. I could probably do a large pot pie or a stroganoff for 5-6 people in this or a batch of cocktail meatballs for a party.

Other reviewers have reported hot spots. I haven't had a problem with hot spots. Everything seems to heat and/or cook evenly and consistently.

I like the non-stick interior which seems fairly sturdy. No scratching problems to report, but I do use Teflon utensils. I like the glass hood. I get to observe the cooking process and tend to not remove the lid as frequently as I did with a metal lid.

The temp control is calibrated in 50 degree increments. There is no in-between indicators, but this is not a problem for me.

You can supposedly put this in a dishwasher. Since this is too big for my dishwasher, I hand wash and it is a snap. Food releases efficiently and the interior is still as pristine as it was when new.

The big selling point for me is temperature control, high walls that prevent splattering, easy clean-up, and contained cooking. This does a good job and keeps clean-up to a minimum.

Biagetti Easy Ceramic Nonstick Saute Pan

Bialetti Aeternum Easy Saute Pan, 10-Inch, SilverI needed a good breakfast pan. I've decided to steer clear of teflon and aluminum pans due to health concerns, didn't get results I wanted with my lovely stainless steel ones when it came to breakfast (I'm not so pro that I can make my omelettes on them without them sticking just yet), and though I love my cast iron pans well, flipping pancakes in one is out of the question. I had that breakfast dilemma and this pan gave me a sense of relief. They are a breeze to cook on and the white interiors are a perk because I can monitor my food while its cooking so I can get it just right (my hash browns were never a more perfect golden color). Another plus is that they are very easy to clean and don't require any special seasoning or maintenance.

My recommendation about these are 1. Do not use HIGH heat. You ''can'' if you want to if you are frying some sausage links and stuff like that but for anything else like omelettes or potatoes, you'll get better results on these with the heat on MEDIUM or MED-HIGH. 2. Don't use metal spatulas or utensils. They WILL damage the surface of the ceramic. 3. Don't use a scouring pad to clean these, you can wipe most cooked on food with a soft sponge and if it's really baked on (take it easy on the heat next time) let it soak for a few minutes and it should wipe right off.

This is my second purchase....the pans are great....best price I have been able to find...not sure if this exact pan is being discontinued for an upgraded version...locally, bed bath and beyond is more for a red color version.Anyway, vendor filled order both times,no tax, and combined order on amazon to qualify for free shipping...

My wife has several Bialetti Aeternum sauce pans and based upon her experience with them, I ordered this sauce pan--the price was right! However, when it arrived she compaired it to her Bialatti Aeternum sauce pans and the quality is not the same. This pan is much lighter, the lip is not reinforced (thickened) and the non-stick surface does not extend over the top of the lip.The color of the ceramic coating on her pans is a yellow white and seems really thick--the coating on this pan is a blue white and doesn't seem as thick (possibly because the coating doesn't extend over the top of the lip).Additionally, her Aeternum sauce pans have the word "Aeternum" embossed on the bottom of each pan.The bottom of this pan has the word Bialetti painted on.Her Bialetti Aeternum pans came with a 5 year warranty, I have been unable to locate any warranty information on this Bialetti EASY sauce pan.

This review only compares this sauce pan with Aeternum sauce pans that we currently have.We did not use it and have returned it to Amazon. Therefore, I cannot comment on how well it works. You will have to make that determination based upon other reviews.

As advertised, this pan needs minimal oil to prevent sticking. It heats rapidly and evenly, handles well, and cleans easily. It is NOT the color I ordered.I chose silver and received PURPLE.Stands out form the other pots, but NOT what I wanted.

This is a good pan, cooks evenly and it heats up fast.My only gripe, is that the way they advertise this product it seems that you don't need oil or butter ,but in reality you do.Read the fine print on the inside of the Packaging.Other than that ,i like this pan,it's a good alternative to Teflon.

T-fal Elegance Stainless Steel 8-Inch Saute Pan

T-fal Elegance Stainless Steel 8-Inch Saute PanI was tired of buying coated pans that always began to chip and flake after a couple of years of use.I now have 12 in, 10 in., and8 in. skillets as well as sauce pans and large pot.Since I have had the sauce pans for over 20 years, I am confident that these skillets will last as long. The pans are heavy enough to be sturdy, but not too heavy to lift and to wash. The only problem I have had is cooking scrambled eggs.I don't know why, but they just don't seem to do well in the stainless steel pans.Food cooks much more evenly, I don't have to worry about flakes in my food and can use higher heat for searing.Clean up is relatively easy.I use Cameo Aluminum and Stainless Steel cleaner and a sponge.

I was excited to get this smaller skillet and knew that the brand was a good one. But soon after, it started to get scorch marks on it that I could not get clean. It looks terrible but it is a good skillet anyway. For one or two people, it's the perfect size.

Perfect size for scrambling two eggs.Have done 4 but anymore and probably would want a full size pan.I gave up on non stick years ago and prefer stainless to cast iron. I have no doubt this will last.Great for anyone you know that is single.

The cooking surface of this pan is closer to 5" than 8".The first time I used the pan was to fry eggs.Since the pan was new I sprayed it with cooking spray and then fried the eggs in butter.Despite my precaution the butter stained the sides of the pan (Butter!) and was impossible to clean off following the manufacturer's cleaning instructions.I wanted a tough, easy-to-clean pan for small jobs. What I got was a small-job pan ok (one slice of bread pretty much fills it), with detailed instructions from the manufacturer about how to baby it.Phooey.I should have bought the cast iron skillet I set out to buy in the first place.

Farberware Millennium Stainless Steel Tulip Series 10-Piece Cookware Set

Farberware Millennium Stainless Steel Tulip Series 10-Piece Cookware SetThis set is not only functional and durable, but gorgeous as well. I debated over the T-Fal version but it has hollow handles. These have solid handles. The stem handles on five of the pieces DO NOT get hot. The grips on the lids and the 8-qt pot do get a little warm. I was amazed that this set actually is advertised to work on induction cooktops. All pieces do work wonderfully on induction cookers, while the Cuisinart set I ordered did not, and was sent back. I love how evenly the set cooks and how well made it is. I have no doubt this set will get passed along to my children when I go to the big kitchen in the sky. Their children will probably be receiving it too, in due time.

After much research on stainless cookware, I finally settled on the Farberware. The pricing on the Millennium set

was well under what I was willing to spend, so I also looked at the higher priced sets. It turns out that those higher priced pots & pans didn't have any apparent advantages over the Farberware at all. In fact, the Farberware looked to be of better quality than some sets costing 30-80 dollars more.

These pots & pans are of good weight, they are stout, but not overly heavy and the highly polished outside surfaces are beautiful. The insides of the pots & pans are of a satin finish, with the degree of finish slightly varying from pan to pan. I was concerned that the pans with the coarser finishes may be prone to having food stick on the bottom, but it was worry for nothing, the pots and pans were problem free. The heavy glass lids are nice, but the lid handles get very hot, very quickly. The handles of the pots & pans themselves also get hot, so I'd recommend using an oven mitt when holding on to either handle. It was the issue of the hot handles that caused me to drop them to a 4 star rating, I'd give all other aspects of the product 5 stars. Besides the one minor problem, Farberware has produced a very fine set of cookware.

I noticed that most of the 1 & 2 star reviewers all had the same issue, they complained that everything they tried to cook would stick. Well, cooking on stainless is much different than cooking on non-stick. I believe the unhappy buyers of stainless are expecting bare steel to act like Teflon and that's just not gonna happen. If you're going from Teflon to stainless steel, you'll need to adjust your heat setting to lower than what you are used to and use at least a little oil. DO NOT use PAM or other spray cans of anti stick coating, it'll just make an ugly mess of your pan.

The bottom line?? If you want a stainless set for under $100, this is it.

I've used a variety of cookware including some all copper for sugars & hot syrups.

These pans did exceptionally well for a stainless set in having even heat distribution.(Something you rarely see in stainless).

Love the easy cleanup and if we avoid all metal utensils we shouldn't experience any sticking problems in the future.

So far I can't see a negative to this set other than the lids have no vents. Just a preference issue. Great weight great rivet construction. These will be passed on I'm sure.

I bought these pans because I was tired of cheap nonstick pans chipping into my food.I am not by any means a health-nut but the thought of eating slippery little chemical flakes was not appetizing.I also bought this set because it was beautiful and only cost about one hundred dollars.

At first I was really disappointed.EVERYTHING stuck to the pans.Even things like grilled cheese.I can't stress enough the importance of seasoning these pans.Heat the pan up empty until water droplets dance in the bottom. Then pour in your choice of oil (enough to cover the bottom.)Let it heat until it starts smoking slightly. Then turn off the burner and let it cool to room temperature.Pour off and discard the oil.Wipe out the pan with a paper towel.

Cook a fried egg.Pretty awesome, huh?I was amazed to be able to cook omelets and scrambled eggs with out making a burnt on mess. You can make a fried egg slide around the pan.If you clean the pan with soap or water you will have to re season it.

I have had these pans for about a year now and they all look like new.To avoid discoloration, buy some bar cleaners friend.

I have only ever cooked on non-stick pans but I have heard so much about the risks I was ready to switch. My biggest concern was that things would stick, I heard eggs were particularly bad. I haven't owned the set long but I cooked a couple things that normally would stick for me, bulk sausage and eggsI had absolutely no problem with sticking. I turned the heat down and it was SO even. The pot of pasta was swirling and turning so nice that none of my pasta stuck together. I have never seen that before it was great! I am so happy with this purchase.

Mexican Origins Universal Pan

Yes it is functionally universal size about 8 1/2 to 12 in in coverage. Interior ridges seat it nicely at the various diameters. See through window. Non Stick cleanup! the handle keeps you Safely away from steam or spatter...very important to me because I have somewhat clumsy arthritic hands.

I bought this cover for a 14" skillet. The skillet came and I measured them up and it didn't fit. When I purchased this cover they said that it would fit a 14" pan. The cover fell right through the pan. However, it is great for any pan smaller than 14".

Matfer Bourgeat Black Steel Frying Pan, 8-5/8" dia.

Matfer Bourgeat Black Steel Frying Pan, 8-5/8' dia. After reading an article in Gourmet, instructing the basics of omelets and the use of an 8 inch black steel pan, I am ordering a second of these pans. This pan is really great in making omelets or so my husband says he's the egg man all I can say is that the omelets taste great!!!! and are omlet shaped unlike past omelets made in a completely different pan. The only sticky point is the label that it arrives with it is very sticky and when removing the label, a thin film of glue is left behind on the pan. You need to follow the directions to the T cooking potato skins and salt really does remove the glue. I was very skeptical, but it actually works and you'll have a great pan.

Matfer Bourgeat Black Steel Frying Pan, 8-5/8" dia.

Wow! This is a surprisingly heavy little carbon-steel pan, and it is a joy to use. Mine weighs 2.65 pounds (1202 grams). Its weight is reasonably similar to the weight of my vintage Wapak nine-inch 1903-1910 first-series cast-iron skillet (2.85 pounds or 1291 grams). Although I have only had it for one week, this Matfer Bourgeat pan is already capable of making superb omelettes, pancakes, and fried rice; all made using less than a half-teaspoon of cooking oil or butter. It is non-stick, when used this way.

Why did I buy this carbon-steel skillet, when I already had the phenomenal Wapak cast-iron skillet? I bought it primarily for two purposes. First, I bought it for making omelettes in the Japanese style (cooked at high temperatures, in less than one minute). The flared sides of the Matfer pan make this task easier. Second, I bought it for making perfectly-uniform six-inch pancakes (because that is the bottom width of this pan). Even though this pan weighs two pounds and 10 ounces, it is quite easy to turn the pancakes with a quick flip of the pan (without using a spatula). This is fun!

Here are some final thoughts. Expect the color of this pan to change. Although mine is only one week old, high-temperature usage has already changed the color of the pan, from bright silver to a very dark brownish-bluish-black. It is actually quite beautiful, in its own way. Within one year, it is likely that the color of this carbon-steel pan will match the blackness of my 100-year old Wapak cast-iron skillet.

Buy Matfer Bourgeat Black Steel Frying Pan, 8-5/8" dia. Now

This does just what I wanted it to do: makes a great omelet that doesn't give off cancer-causing non-stick-coating fumes.

You have to season it well, though, just like the instructions say, just as you would for a cast-iron pan.

Also, the pan is elegantly designed. The handle is long enough that it doesn't get too hot. I feel so very French when I'm cooking weeze zees pan.

season according to directions and you have a slick pan.I find it a little small for a 3 egg omelet, so am ordering a bigger one, otherwise it would be a 5 star.
