Joie Microwave Omelet in a Pot

Joie Microwave Omelet in a PotI bought two of these in a kitchen speciality store after the staff there raved about it.I was very delighted to find it really, really works!

The kitchen store staff had some tips about how to perfect the process:1.) FIRST, put about 1 tsp. of butter in the pot with a small amount of vegies. (Wet vegies, such as tomatoes don't work as well. Green onions and peppers are great choices.)2.) Microwave your butter and vegies for about 30-40 seconds.3.) Break your two eggs in the pot, stir in salt and pepper, and add chesse...microwave for 40-50 seconds.4.) Scrape down sides and microwave again for 40-50 seconds.5.) Wait for 2 minutes to finish cooking then eat.

The omelets are nice and fluffy and ready in less than 5 minutes. The convenient size of the pot is beneficial to travelers. My son is putting it in his luggage while he Couch Surfs across the U.S.

I found these online for $7.95 and will be buying six or seven to give as future gifts.

I am not big fan of microwavable omelet in a first place; it taste a little bit rubbery.

Don't get me wrong this omelet maker is working, but it is another gadget-toy, which will take space in your kitchen and cost you about $20.00 w/shipping.

If you really, really want to make an omelet in your microwave follow the instruction:

Take ceramic or glass (microwave safe) cup or bowl cover it with a little bit of butter, add two eggs and what ever else you like, bit eggs with a fork a little bit, cover with paper towel or paper plate and microwave for 1-2 minutes and you got yourself an omelet, and you saved $20.00.

I own 4 of these and use them almost every day. We mix the ingredients the night before and place in the fridge, then I pop one in the microwave for 2 min while I take a shower. When I get out I have a nice fluffy omelet waiting. No it isn't gourmet, but it works, tastes great, is easy to clean and only uses one dish for cooking and serving. The white part is glazed ceramic and the yellow/orange is rubber. The rubber never comes in contact with your food. Since a touch of pam is used the cleaning couldn't be easier. I can barely keep eggs in the house!

I randomly bought this omelet pot in a store over the weekend. My expectations weren't terribly high, but I live in an extremely small space and have an efficiency kitchen, so one-dish/one-pot/minimal cleanup items are worth my time and attention.

This omelet pot far exceeded my expectations. It makes a light, fluffy, delicious omelet in a matter of minutes. My microwave is low-wattage, so it takes about four minutes to have a thoroughly cooked omelet, but I cannot complain at all for that.

All you have to do is pour the eggs (or egg substitute in my case) into the pot, add a bit of milk, whisk it with a fork, and drop in your ingredients and you have done all the work you have to do. Pop it in the microwave, wait for the ding, and eat straight from the pot.

It cleaned up well and I am pleased enough to consider buying a second one, since I would be very unhappy if I broke this one.

Want Joie Microwave Omelet in a Pot Discount?

This product has totally spoiled me. I hardly use the stovetop anymore to do omelettes. My kids love the compact "english muffin" shape of the 1-egg omelette that this makes. Just 1 egg nicely whisked with a fork and a drop of olive oil. That's it. Sometimes, I add a basil leaf or some cilantro leaves.

However, I want to say that I have bought this item from Marshalls for $8 + tax. Broke the first one, and couldn't find another for 2 years ! It's a hit or miss finding things at Marshalls, so even at $16, I wouldn't hesitate to buy it on Amazon, just because the product is worth it.

Woll Diamond Plus 11-Inch Square Fry Pan

Woll Diamond Plus 11-Inch Square Fry PanI purchase this product based on reviews.I wanted a even heating pan that did not warp.I received on a Friday and used it on Sunday morning breakfast.I noticed that the handle was a little loose, but not excessive. One other thing that stood out was that the handle was not riveted but attached with a screw.I found that odd for a pan in this price range.

After using it once I picked it up for cleaning, after sufficient cooling time. The handle cracked, a large chunck came off.It was not mishandled in any way.

If not for the handle I would have raved about the cooking characteristics.I don't know if I want to try another one or not and just consider this an odd occurence. The packaging was not very good and could have contributed to this failure.

T-fal FR4049001 Family Pro 2.6-Pound / 3-Liter Deep Fryer with Stainless Steel Waffle, SilverReally pleased with this, had a different type before but this one heats up so fast and needs less oil

I replaced the previous model T-Fal fryer after its untimely demise. Liked the fryer basket handle design much better on the previous model than this one. The previous model lasted about three or four years, but really was only used a dozen or so times in that time frame. Not really impressed as I paid retail price on that one. Got this one 60% off of retail pricing, that is the only reason I replaced it with another T-Fal. Not much to mess up on these. The style is about all you can critique so long as the unit works, and the stainless on this unit makes it quite attractive. I will update when it dies, hopefully it is long enough that I can forget to come back here to update.

All-Clad Stainless 8-Inch Nonstick Fry Pan

All-Clad Stainless 8-Inch Nonstick Fry PanNot only is All Clad stainless cookware superb, the nonstick is superb as well! I am not a fan of nonstick in general however I make an exception with fry pans. Eggs and cheese are just so much healthier when they are cooked with less oil. That being said I have the 7, 8 & two of the 10 inch All Clad nonstick fry pans and I couldn't be happier with them. I have 2 of the 10 inch so I can make two 3 egg omelets at the same time. I find the 10 inch is perfect for 3 eggs, my husband and I prefer our omelets loose or slightly runny versus dry and this is a great size for that, it is also great for several scrambled eggs or breakfast sausage. The 8 inch is perfect for a 2 egg omelet or scrambled eggs and the 7 inch is perfect for 1 or 2 eggs or sausage.

All Clad fry pans (and the entire All Clad cookware collection) are first class, top quality, well made, designed to last and come with a lifetime warranty. Make sure you only use silicone (my choice), nylon or wooden utensils and hand wash only. The hand washing is a breeze since this nonstick collection is made so well... All Clad makes more sense for your wallet and the environment and wouldn't you rather use "crème de la crème" professional quality cookware than junk? I know I would!

It's no secret that I love All-Clad.The 8-inch is perfect when cooking for one or two.The pan has great release.I always hand wash and about once a month, I polish the stainless steel with Bar Keeper's friend to keep it looking like new.

I also have the nonstick 10 inch and I am trying to send it back to All-Clad for warranty evaluation.I did not know that you shouldn't use nonstick spay with nonstick cookware and that the heat should be relatively low.I never use more than medium heat with any of my All-Clad and yet my pan lost its nonstick properties.

When a plan losses its nonstick properties, All-Clad suggests cleaning with a paste of baking soda and water. If the baking soda doesn't turn brown, switch to Bar Keeper's Friend and water.Always scrub with something made for nonstick cookeware.None of this helped my pan, so I will send it in to All-Clad.

Got this pan to replace the same kind and size. OK,OK... before you say something nasty about the product, I have to say that the first one we had was from an All-Clad grouping we got as a wedding gift almost 10 years ago. It's been used HEAVILY. The pan itself is in excellent condition, but the non-stick coating is getting a little worn. Still definitely usable, though! I do believe the non-stick surface the company uses now is an improved version. Anyway.... my husband and I truly love the cookware. We have added many more pieces to it over the years and have never been disappointed. It heats evenly, doesn't burn, cleans easily, nice weight,.... What more can I say? Good cookware really does make a HUGE difference to the final product. At this point I can't imagine using a different brand. Honest!

I have it for 6 months now, used it everyday and am very happy with it. Heating is even and no surpirses, clean up is a breeze, cheese, milk, soy source, BBQ sauce, dumpling, nothing sticks. Ringse it under warm water and wipe it clean with a napkin, it's that simple. You will want to get a lid that matches the pan, togher they do magic to frozen fish fillet, steak, noodle, or fry rice. Top line product indeed.

Earth Pan II Hard Anodized Nonstick Skillet

Earth Pan II Hard Anodized Nonstick Skillet, 8-InchI've been using this pan for cooking eggs every morning for several weeks now. It's working well, but to keep it that way, I plan to

cook only eggs in it and use the minimumamount of heat needed.Sometimes it does stick a little but comes loose with a little push.I do use "better butter" (part butter and part canola)and try to spread a thin coat also a bit up the sides sometimes by using a pastry brush. There seems to be no pan that maintains a perfect non-stick ability. This pan is heavy which does make it function better.I bought it because of the resaonable price, because the non-stick surface is supposed to be more eco-friendly, and because of the Farberware name.

bought it as I did not want to buy teflon.it was difficult to clean from the start -it didn't feel like non stick. I used it to make omelet, and heat some indian tortillas---the gray surface turned brown --with 2-3 uses and now 1 mth later the pan is completely black. It was a total waste of money. I never put it in the dishawsher. I don;t want cookware to last forever but this didn't last even a wk .. would never recommend to buy it .

I wanted an Earthpan because I heard great reviews of them in Consumer Reports.I am a pretty serious home chef and was willing to pay an inordinate amount of money for a non-stick pan that cooked well and cleaned easily. So I was pleasantly suprised to see this was reasonably priced. This pan cooks well but the pan is not easy to clean at all.I have had to use steel wool to get this pan clean. That's sucks.I mean I had to get out all kinds of elbow grease to clean this pan and I was upset by that.

My Earth Pan Hard Anodized Nonstick 10 inch skillet was a big disappointment.Because I have had many non-stick fry pans over the years and I realize that their life span is short even though we follow all the directions, I thought that this product seemed more durable and more able to fit my needs.I followed all the many directions for use (including ones we weren't warned about because we have a Corning stove top)but it was purchased August 18 online from Amazon, and here it is May 18, 2011 and a cast iron skillet compares favorably to it (and would have been much cheaper).

Bayou Classic 7435 16-Inch Cast Iron Skillet

Bayou Classic 7435 16-Inch Cast Iron SkilletBayou Classicpretty good! I want to start off by saying that I am pretty much a Lodge follower, and most of my cast iron products are from the Lodge company. However, this is a good buy.I wanted a very large pan to make pizzas in, and Lodge has a 17" similar skillet (but without the handle).I was not concerned much whether there was a handle or not, since these pans are so big (covering 2 burners on the stove) that no one in their right mind would be carrying it by the handle alone (no handle would have been better for my home use, but not a deal breaker). Even with outdoor use, the handles aren't really long enough on these large pans to make a huge difference in safety or ease.

I also preferred Lodge due to my comfort-level with their consistently fine products. However, the Lodge 17" inch was nearly double the price of what I purchased this one for, and I had a good experience with the Bayou Classic company previously, having purchased one of their high BTU outdoor burners (for turkey frying and pressure canning). Additionally, reading the Lodge 17" reviews, it seemed that 17" was actually larger than a lot of standard ovens, not allowing an oven door to shut all the way.i tried measuring my oven, but just couldn't get a precise enough measurement due to an inset section on the door itself, so that I wasn't completely sure my oven would be one that worked with a 17 inch pan.Lo and behold, I find this lovely 16" and at half price. It was hard to say no and I took a chance.

Well, when i touch this pan, i can tell Lodge is much smoother to the feelThe Bayou Classic is roughernot as finely castbut for me, it's not paying double the price rougher either.Additionally, and more importantly, it absolutely fits in my oven. i'm pretty sure now that the 17" never would have fit, since the 16" is right up against the oven door (the handle you turn sideways, and there's no problem). The one pizza i've made so far turned out fabulously (if you've never tried cast iron for pizza, you're missing out on a great crustyou can even crisp the crust up more on the stovetop), and I'm very pleased with this purchase.I also have the Lodge 14" inch (flat) pizza pan, but that extra 2 inches helps with bigger portions, and higher siding is the only choice for deep dish pizza, obviously. All in all a good find, and I'm very happy i bought this.

Update: since I've purchased this about two weeks ago, the price on the Lodge 17" went down.Still, I would buy this product againmainly because it fits in my oven!

Docking 1 star for a lack of finishing and there is no seasoning as advertised.

It's a nice clean cast but is missing that final touch. I suggest a nice medium grit sandpaper to smooth it down a bit, especially the edges of the pan, which can be pretty sharp. Afterwards, you will need to wash and season as the included instructions, with a heavy emphasis on the wash. The paraffin coating the skillet is coated with is a nasty color, not telling what may be in it.

Actual dimensions:

Across the skillet round (lip to lip): 16.5 inches

Inside skillet round: approx 14.5"

Handle to handle: 22.75"

Edit: After sanding and seasoning twice through the oven, as per the directions, I have another thing to point out. The bottom of this skillet is domed. The center is higher than the sides quite noticeably. I cooked a whole pound of minced bacon and it did allow the grease to run away from the the pile of bacon. While this may help keep some of the grease out of your food, it doesn't help with the seasoning process, as the "high & dry" foods will tend to stick at first. Not sure if this is a feature or defect, but I'm going to keep using it and see how it turns out.

I bought this cast iron skillet after I used my friend's for cooking Paella. Remember to season the skillet before using it, it pays to do it. Great size for paella and large cooking.. originally I wanted a bigger one, but once I got this 16-inch, the size is perfect

Fox Run Non-Stick Folding Omelet Pan

Fox Run Non-Stick Folding Omelet PanSince the Nordic Ware omelet pan got some negative ratings, I thought I would try this pan. Unfortunately, it has the same problems that plague the Nordic Ware pan:

The metal is very thin. As a result, it is difficult to get even heating so you can burn part of the omelet while other areas are not cooked. It is also essential that you use very low heat. I have problems with my gas stove getting the flame low enough to prevent burning.

The non-stick surface isn't. The instructions say to use a spray like Pam. I've tried that, olive oil, and butter. In each case, part of the omelet stuck to the pan when I tried to flip it to the other side.

I tried dividing the egg mixture in half so I could cook both sides and then flip one to the other. Same problems with temperature and sticking.

After much experimentation, I learned some tricks that improve the experience somewhat:

1. Put all the egg mixture in one side and close the other side over it. The trapped heat helps to cook both sides.

2. Use a plastic spatula to try to loosen the omelet before flipping it.

3. Don't spray the second side until you are ready to flip the omelet to it. Otherwise, the spray will burn.

4. Be careful if you attempt to center one side or the other of the pan over the burner. You can burn the handles by doing so.

I guess the best suggestion is to use a high quality, non-stick Calphalon and forget the whole divided pan approach.

After using this "non-stick" pan only 5 times, the so called non-stick finish came off as I was trying to remove "stuck on food" with a non-abrasive plastic scrubby!!! Ended up throwing the pan/$14.99 away. Also, as someone who has made hundreds of omelets, but has never used an "omelet pan" it would have been very helpful to have some instructions included with the pan. I would NOT recommend this product.

I'm very happy with this purchase. I just received it, and made a two-egg omelet with onions and cheese. There is plenty of room for a third egg. I used spray and there was no sticking. My range is a smooth-top electric and medium-low heat produced an evenly cooked, lightly browned (how I like it) omelet.

The steps are:

Whisk 2-3 eggs + 1 TBSP water + salt/pepper to taste, vigorously until frothy.

Spray pan with cooking spray.

Saute meat/vegetables in one side of open pan until done. Remove.

With pan open, put half of egg mixture in each side of pan.

Cook 1-2 minutes until mostly firm.

Add fillings on long-handled side.

Close pan by flipping short-handled side.

Cook 1-2 minutes.

Flip pan.

Cook other side 1-2 minutes.

Slide omelet onto plate assisted by rubber spatula.

Enjoy. Yummmmmm.

Cooks Standard Multi-Ply Clad Stainless-Steel 5-Quart 11-Inch Covered Deep Saute Pan

Cooks Standard Multi-Ply Clad Stainless-Steel 5-Quart 11-Inch Covered Deep Saute PanI was given this pan by mistake, along with a set of All-Clad pots and pans. Being the polite snob I am, I tried to be appreciative to the best of my ability. But after a month of using this side by side with the All-Clad, I keep wondering whether All-Clad is just pocketing the extra money, or whether it actually does cost twice as much to make things in the US as in China or perhaps that the Chinese are using slave labor, or worse, children, to produce such fine products at such low prices. I don't know. I do know this pan is in all ways equal to the All Clad Saute Pan. The only thing extra I get from the All-Clad is some status and that's important for someone with my lowly cooking skills. But so far the only people who've been impressed by my pots and pans are those who I've had to drag into the kitchen and force them to listen to the joys of stainless stain cooking. So if you're thinking of making the switch to stainless steel and don't want to start with a whole set, this is the perfect pan to start with: all the advantages of quality stainless steel at half the price!

Ok, first, this thing is HUGE!I used to have issues making those one pan meals in my 10" fry pan.TONS of room with this. AND if you heat the pan first, then add oil and your food, it won't stick!I also noticed that the sides do heat up as well, so you should turn the heat down a bit as your food tends to cook a bit quicker. It seems to really take advantage of my electric burner.I've been cooking at 4 instead of 5 (medium).I'm so happy with my purchase!

The box and the manufacturer's web site claim to be "America's Finest Cookware Brand". Unfortunately the pan sports a Chinese birth certificate on its bottom. This may account for my initial bad experience. I ordered this saute pan wanting to try a stainless clad instead of a non-stick. I grew up with copper clad Revereware and don't remember clean up being a big issue. This seemed like a very good candidate having good reviews and a very reasonable price. I received the pan in perfect condition, read the printed material provided, was mindful to pre-heat and not to over heat. After the first use, before attempting to clean, I noticed the pan wobbling on my smooth surface range. It warped after the first use. With the aid of Amazon's stellar customer service, I decided to try another one before resorting to a pricier alternative. The second one has been excellent! My theory is there may be consistency issues due to the Chinese heritage.

Just love this pan. I generally cook on non-stick, but I wanted a stainless pan for when I use cooking spray. This is a nice large one, very well-made and just gorgeous. I have used it a few times per week since getting it about a month ago, and it seems like it will last a long time, as it's still as good as new. I can't think of anything negative to say about this pan form my standpoint, particularly for the great price.

A few notes for others, however:

It is heavy, which should be expected with high quality stainless steel. This might make it hard to clean for those with little arm strength, but not a problem for me.

I hand wash my pots and pans, so do not know how it would handle in a dishwasher.

If you prefer a clear top, then look elsewhere. But for stainless, I think it makes sense to have a metal top as well.

Saute Pan is one of the best values in cookware that I've come across.I also just received a Le Crueset stainless steel saute pan for our new commercial kitchen and the pans are very comparable. The only draw back that I see so far is the lid is very loose fitting and would prefer it to be a little snugger.

KitchenAid Aluminum Nonstick 12-Piece Cookware Set

KitchenAid Aluminum Nonstick 12-Piece Cookware Set, RedI have a big family, with big-eating teen boys, and I use my pots and pans daily. I honestly had wanted to purchase the Cephalon set, but just couldn't afford it. I saw this set loved the red color and purchased it as a "second choice" boy am I glad I did! The biggest frypan is used at least twice a day without fail! They all still look nearly as good as the day I bought them about two years ago the nonstick coating is still perfect and works beautifully. We handwash them there's never room in the d/w for pans anyway and literally I never even put the fry pan away, just turn it upside down on the stovetop. They cook so evenly, never scorch, and even when I overcooked the rice one night it just browned inside and literally wiped out with a paper towel.

I received this pots and pans as a birthday present to go in to my newly remodeled kitchen.I love the red color!I have arthritis so I really liked the weight of the pots and pans and the handles were easy to hold. They are light without feeling flimsy. They cook like a dream with no sticking.

()I have this set of KitchenAid Aluminum Nonstick Cookware and a set of KitchenAid Gourmet Hard Anodized Nonstick Cookware and the latter is definitely worth the extra money. When I created this review the KitchenAid Aluminum Nonstick Cookware was selling for $150 and the set of KitchenAid Gourmet Hard Anodized Nonstick Cookware was selling for $178, so my criticisms are based on the savings of only $28.I would not pay more than $125 for the KitchenAid Aluminum Nonstick Cookware Set.

This set KitchenAid Aluminum Nonstick Cookware is MUCH thinner and lighter weight, the heat distribution and retention is less impressive than the Gourmet Anodized set. These pans are so light I would only recommend them over the Gourmet Anodized set if you have mobility issues and are purposely seeking to fill a need for lightweight cookware.

All the pot sizes are smaller and less useful and the handles are not as good as the Gourmet Anodized. You do not get an 8 quart pot for cooking pasta, the squat 6 quart pot that comes in this set is smaller than I like to cook spaghetti, but will make a good soup pot.You do not get a fry pan you can cook more than 3 eggs in, so you will probably need to purchase an additional fry pan of larger size.If you have a lot of big pots already, this set may be a good filler set to have smaller pans to choose from.

The red color of this set is a very dark brick color, darker than the photo even, so if someone is wanting a true red this is not a good choice esthetically.I think the KitchenAid Gourmet Hard Anodized Nonstick Cookware set is better designed and more attractive with its Windsor shaped sides; the narrower bases look nice and allow better fit on smaller stovetops without compromising on size. The KitchenAid Gourmet Hard Anodized Nonstick Cookware does not come in colors, but if I have to choose between matching decor and function, I would choose function.

All that said, this KitchenAid Aluminum Nonstick Cookware set is much better than the starter sets you see in Bed Bath & Beyond for $75-$100.So if someone you know has one of those cheaper-made cookware sets on their wish list, spend the extra money on this set and really delight them. If you are looking for pans to last a couple decades, spring for the KitchenAid Gourmet Hard Anodized Nonstick Cookware, I bought the additional two-burner griddle and it is GREAT too.

WMF CeraDur Profi Non-Stick Skillet

WMF CeraDur Profi Non-Stick Skillet, 11-InchSince there were no reviews here, I felt the need to write one.I have a lot of WMF products, so I trust the brand, but the pan is terrible. At first it worked great, but after 4 months of use it sticks like crazy worse than any other pan I have. There are a lot of "green" and safe non-stick technologies, but this is not a good one, I suggest looking for other pans/technologies instead.

I was surprised to read the negative reviews about this skillet made by WMF. The German equivalent of Consumer Reports (Stiftung Warentest) tested a number of skillets without PTFE (contained in Teflon) and this one by WMF was the test winner and received the rating "good" for all criteria (below a link to the test summary of 1/2011):So far we have been very happy with this skillet (the 11" stainless-steel version). We have followed the recommendations (some vegetable oil should be wiped onto the non-stick surface after the first wash and before the first use and then after each cleaning of the pan). Good anti-stick properties, easy to clean, solidly built. A major advantage of this PTFE free ceramic coating is that it can tolerate higher temperatures. We also got the glass lid for it.

Tramontina Gourmet Porcelain Enamel Black Cherry Fry Pan

Tramontina Gourmet Porcelain Enamel Black Cherry Fry PanThe exterior coating wore off within 3 days on another piece I bought from this set. Because of this issue, I returned this pot, unused and in its original packaging within a week of purchase.

I was charged $40 to return the unused set, plus the original defective pan.

My only recommendation for this pan and Chefs Tools is to avoid them both.

This was my second purchase of a Tramontina pan, it is great. You will enjoy cooking in this pan. Will purchase more of this brand
