Norpro 2063 Nonstick Splatter Guard

Norpro 2063 Nonstick Splatter GuardI was ready to design this type of splatter screen when I found it at Amazon. It is the only place to get one. This is better the screens designed to fit on top of a skillet. With that type, food still splatters when it is lifted up to check on the food or turn it.The Norpor keeps the rest of the cooktop clean.I used it around my counter top grill to keep the splatters off the counter and wall.

I ordered these for gifts, because I have a different brand I purchased many years ago and everyone that sees it wants one. When I opened it I almost cut myself on the edges. The one I have was nothing like these. They are sharp and can not be put in dishwasher. Very disappointed, cheaply made and not safe.

I was hesitant to buy this item and am glad I took the gamble.I expected something flimsy and that would easily rust.I have used this

item again and again and have thrown it in the dishwasher and it has not rusted nor lost its coating. It is a great little tool to keep your stove clean.Especially if you do a lot of frying.

This product is shoddy and the edges of the metal screens are so thin and sharp they can cut you especially in a kitchen enviornment with wet hands, etc. I gave it one star because we don't have a zero star option. I returned for a refund.

This is my first ever video review of a product on Amazon. I was inspired to do a video review because this product is so appallingly awful. I'm stunned by the positive reviews they're either reviewing some other product, or their shills, or, well, I don't really know what would cause someone to give this product a positive review. Hopefully this video demonstrating how flimsy and downright tiny this so-called splatter guard is will save others the trouble and cost of buying one.

Funny Shooting Cowgirl Country Western Gift Raise Aim Fire Refrigerator Magnet

Funny Shooting Cowgirl Country Western Gift Raise Aim Fire Refrigerator MagnetThis magnet is cheaply made, low quality materials, etc. It is literally an image that is printed off a cheap home printer, glued to some cardboard, and has plastic over it with brown twine hot glued around the edges. I wouldn't spend more than 1 or 2 dollars on this.

This magnet is light weight compared to most refrigerator magnets but overall, I am pleased. Shipping was fast and it made for a cute stocking stuffer

Cooks Standard Multi-Ply Clad Stainless-Steel 10-Inch Fry Pan

Cooks Standard Multi-Ply Clad Stainless-Steel 10-Inch Fry PanFirst off, I think it's worth noting that I have never used any high end pans before.I made a switch from good ole Farberware that cost me $69 for like a 12-piece set. On the flip side, I do cook A LOT though and have my whole life.

That being said, I am still pretty happy with these pans.I bought both the 8' and the 10" mainly because of the design and the price.I wanted a good quality pan that would last and I have to say these blow my crap Farberware out of the water.I notice they cook a lot faster and they heat evenly. Things don't stick to them even with minimal butter or oil including eggs. This is definitely a solid pan with great construction.I find the hand to be very comfortable and it doesn't get hot even a little.

However, I have only had these a month now though and I already notice discoloration in the bottom of the inside. The outside looks good still though and again, I am not sure if this is normal or not.I wash them in the dishwasher but they are stated as dishwasher safe.I'm a little nervous on how they will hold up.I will update this in a few months.

****************************************************************************************************************

UPDATE: I've had these pans for almost two year now and I still love them. I give every pan a 5-star review but I will have to admit that I have managed to warp both of my 10" skillets. They still cook pretty evenly and I will admit that I am terribly hard on my pans and have probably overheated them on many occasions. The 8" skillets and the sauce pans have zero issues. I still recommend this set.

This pan is actually described as 10.5" by Cooks Standard's website. The box was also labeled 10.5".I measured it at 10-13/16" outer diameter. With the way the top edges curve out, I'd say 10.5" is a legit claim. The flat part (i.e. cooking surface) is about 8".The sides curve out from the base like a quarter-circle; I don't feel cheated out of space with this design. If you're like me and feel like 10" is a bit too small, but 12" is a bit too big, then this is the pan to get. There's not a lot of options for stainless tri-ply pans inside of 10"-12", and at this price, rarer still.

Yes, it's made in China (says "made in China" on the bottom).

Heats fast, cooks great, no issues.Working as hoped/expected!

Despite its apparent solid construction and advertised quality the stainless steel apparently is of inferior quality(Made in China)...After one use frying with oil the interior and exterior developed black spotting or pitting; and also, became stained a brownish color which I could not remove after repeated attempts at normal cleaning, even finally using "Barkeeper's Friend". Returning item and ordering a Lodge Cast Iron Skillet as a replacement...Still the best for long term durability, easy cleanup, and USA made!!

Circulon Contempo Hard Anodized Nonstick 12-Inch Stir Fry Pan

Circulon Contempo Hard Anodized Nonstick 12-Inch Stir Fry PanI ordered this wok/pan to replace a similar size pan that literally fell apart ofter 25 years of every day use. This pan will last longer I am sure. I have two other Circulon pans I love so I felt secure in ordering this. I was not disappointed. This pan is much sturdier. On my old pan the handle attachment broke. This attachment is solid, so that won't happen. You can't see it in the pic, but there is a strong loop for hanging concealed in the end of the handle. Like all Circulon pans it cooks great and the non stick is part of the pan and will not wear out, scratch of flake off. I particularly like Circulon because they are sooo easy to clean. There is nothing to polish and the outside is the same color as the inside, so nothing to discolor like my old pan which looked pretty when new but was a mess when I threw it out.

So why only 4 stars? I really would have liked a helper handle. My old pan had that. Perhaps they felt as it was only 12 inches it didn't need one, but even though it is well balanced, I do more than stirfry in it. I make lots of stews and sauces and when full it can be heavy. I also wish they offered a lid; even as an additional purchase. Still, it is one terrific all purpose pan.

I am NOT a cook, OK? However, I recently started stirfrying chicken tenders with onions and peppers as a way to healthier eating. The non-stick pan I was using was a little worse for wear so I decided to look into purchasing a wok.

After looking at quite a few online, I chose the Circulon 12-in pan. It turned out to be an excellent choice. It is the perfect size for a family of 3-4. I had narrowed the choices down to this one and a cast iron pan that was highly recommended. I chose the Circulon because of the weight difference. This pan is lightweight, but of good quality and it cooks and cleans beautifully.

I use it almost everyday and highly recommend it.

5 stars means something must be pretty darn special, and this circulon 12 inch stir fry pan qualifies as just that, special. Start with the heavy construction, great shape, high sides to keep food from spilling out, a comfortable soft grip handle, and a hidden ring that you can hang your pan.

I've had and used mine for almost a year. I do not put any non stick in the dishwasher, no matter what it says. I use nylon, silicon, or wooden utensils to extend the life cycle of any non stick pan. Put a little care into this pan and it will reward you. After 10 months my pan still looks new, still completely covered with the non stick, and that is with at least 3 or 4 uses a week.

The non stick really works. I stir fry all the time and when I add oil it's for flavor, when I don't add oil I still have lovely non sticking vegetables, egg, and rice. The pan heats evenly, even on my electric oven. The flatish bottom fits on the burner without tilting and the high sides ensure that I'm not tossing food overboard when I get enthusiastic and channel my inner Guy Fieri and start shaking my pan all over the place.

For the longest time I went the cheap route, buying non stick pans at big box stores and complaining because they were cheap, well yes, they were. When I finally broke down and got a decent pan the difference in quality was amazing. I have huge woks for when I stir fry for the entire family, but for one or two people this pan is my go to, whether I'm simply sauteing eggplant and tomatoes with garlic, leftover rice and egg and bits and Pcs of leftover meals to make a stir fry lunch for one, or anything else I want to make in this pan. there isn't a lid but I just use one of those all size fits all if I need to briefly steam or cover.

I thought the circles in the pan might make it hard to clean or something, but it doesn't interfere with the cooking or cleaning at all. A great pan I highly recommend. I'm saving my pennies to buy more Circulon, although to be honest, for the quality and performance in this pan the price is very fair.

i just got this for christmas.i have other circulon skillets and the hi-low texture is the best, nothing ever sticks.have had the other skillets since last spring and no scratches at all and my son is a skillet destroyer but not these, he will have a hard time scraping these pans to destruction.they wash up very easy and i wish i had discovered circulon about 20 years ago if not longer....it would have saved me a lot of money replacing pans.like i said, i got some of these last spring and i have never had a skillet last this long without getting scratches and having to replace it.my pans just don't last long but i expect these could last for years.

this stir fry pan is really big and heavy but not as heavy as the cast iron ones that are toooo heavy.i like the fact they are oven safe and i just can't say enough good about circulon.

This is a very lasting piece of kitchenware.

Since I bought 2 in 1994, I have used them regularly for sauteeing, for omelettes,

frittatas, Chinese stir-fry and other dishes.

These are about as durable as non-stick pans get, IMO.

I even learned to "flip" omelettes, daringly high in the air in these pans.

For the above uses, I highly recommend them.

Norpro 9.5 inch Nonstick Breakfast/Crepe Pan

Norpro 9.5 inch Nonstick Breakfast/Crepe PanFrom the day this pan is shipped, i have never left using it for making breakfast. It is the best for the pancakes.I just clean it with the wipe or a tissue.Because of the non-stick feature, i do not even put oil on the pan.I would definetly recommend this product. For a price of $9.00, i think it is the best buy for me.

I love crepes and plan on making several types of crepes using different flours. I made a batch a few days ago and they are already gone. The pan is easy to use and easy to clean up also much more reasonable than similar pans!

Buy Norpro 9.5 inch Nonstick Breakfast/Crepe Pan Now

I bought this pan as a "back-up" to my old trusty t-fal crepe pan that I use to make 2 egg omelettes. Sometimes we host brunches and one pan is not enough to keep up with hungry guests. Well, I received the pan, seasoned it with a little oil as suggested, and made my first omelette with it. Let's just say the t-fal has now moved to the back-up position and I may just pick up another Norpro for good measure. The anti-stick is great, the pan is light and heats evenly, ergonomics are good and it is the perfect size for 2-egg omelettes. Cleans up great in the sink and all I can't speak to yet is durability. However, it looks solid and well made, like most other Norpro stuff I own.

Now if you're curious about those omelettes, they're simple. Dice up whatever filler you want: ham, sausage, tomatoes, mushrooms, onions, greens, whatever, and cheese of course. Saute to your liking in saute pan. Heat the Norpro pan on medium low. Quickly while the pan is heating, fork whisk 2 eggs, some water (for fluffiness), and seasoning to taste (you can also wait to season afterwards). A little olive oil in pan but I use the corner of a paper towel to spread it about and then leave no puddles. Plop the eggs in and cook until almost dry, with a soft or slightly runny skin on the inside. You can carefully work the egg a bit with the edge of your spatula to make sure the runny egg gets to the cooking surface, just make sure it all ends up one cooked piece, with no holes. Add your fillers to one half of the omelette, and then fold the other half over with one of these Kitchenaid Classic Silicone Mixer Spatula, Black. The long, wide, and slippery spatula is perfect to prevent the omelette from breaking when you flip. I like to have a slightly golden brown on my omelettes. Enjoy!

UPDATE: After using this pan about half dozen times, the coating on the BOTTOM of the pan is starting to come off. The non stick seems to be OK and it still cooks fine. I'm starting to get a little suspicious on the durability, so I deducted one star and will update more as time goes on. I stil think it's a bargain at what they are asking but if you want a pan that you'll still be using years later (like my t-fal), this might not be it.

OVEN CLEANER is dangerous. Unbeknownst to me, when I cleaned the oven with oven cleaner, it seeped into the pan drawer below, luckily the crepe pan was the only casualty, it ripped the nonstick right off.The pan was great, slick and the right size when I used it the only and only time. I am buying another to replace the destroyed one, would recommend to all for making crepes.

Cuisinart FP2-24BK Frittata 10-Inch Nonstick Set

Cuisinart FP2-24BK Frittata 10-Inch Nonstick SetThis pan was purchased only after a lot of on-line research, reading reviews, and in-store checking of pans. I intended replacing my old flip-over omelette pan with the same model but only found poor quality pans. The Cuisinart Frittata pan set, However, is really excellent quality, and the handles are well designed. The top and bottom pan fit together easily and securely.I wondered if the Cuisinart pan might be a bit heavy, in contrast to my old omelette pan. However, after the first use I decided the weight was just right. I make omelettes containing lots of ingredients and found that everything cooked really well, and uniformly, on medium heat much more so than with the old pan. Clean up was simple. I am completely satisfied and intend cooking more than omelettes and frittatas in the pans and expect them to last for years. It doesn't hurt that I purchased both pans for approximately $40.00, not $70.00.

One curious point, the Cuisinart packaging indicated that there should be two glass covers included which were not.(Prior to purchase I did not see glass covers mentioned on any site).Customer service informed me that covers are not needed, and pans were designed to work without them. I wish they would change their packaging and not mislead customers!

I ve been using this for 6 months.

the purpose for me was to make perfect japanese pancakeOkonomiyaki

so far i m happy with it however there are some tricks for perfect flip.

Pros

well made / strong and none stick

love the handle: doesnt get hot and perfect size for me

easy to clean

the depth of the pan is very usufull for other purposes too.

not too heavy

Cons

before u flip, u have to warm the other side of pan, otherwise it takes forever for the other side pan to sizzle

be sure to turn off ur stove when u flip, the oil from the bottom pan can leak and cause flame when u flip

Camp Chef CSC-8 6-Ounce Bottle of Cast-Iron Conditioner

Camp Chef CSC-8 6-Ounce Bottle of Cast-Iron ConditionerThis was a little disappointing, but what could I really expect? Seasoning takes years (or at least a lot of time and smoke in your oven). I was trying to avoid that with this coating. It works OK, as a light coating after you wash your pan. But, truly, I used to rub olive oil on my hot pan, just bring it to a smoke, turn off the heat and let it sit until I used it the next time, and I think that method worked better. I'll use up the cream, but I wouldn't order it again.

We have been using Cast iron for many years and have some great old pieces from various trips.

Everyone has a different tip or trick to seasoning cast iron, for many years bacon grease was the "hot product" what a mess!

Many of my cast iron finds need some TLC, a little rust or extra build it can hide the true inner beauty of the cast iron, I have some Griswold, Lodge, and Camp Chef Skillets and Dutch ovens that are super old but look better than new.

THIS stuff is great, I use a couple of different tricks for rust, like hay alfalfa and coke, but to put that nice BLACK finish, the cast iron conditioner does the trick, it lasts twice as long as regular oil and doesn't leave any lasting after taste.

Remember you still have to take care of your cast iron and heat it to dry it but this is the easy way to keep it nice and black for a lifetime of great uses.

Someone posted cheaper at walmart, funny at the time of this review walmart was $4 more and ship to store... FYI

Purchased this conditioner with a new Lodge cast iron skillet.I have used it twice on the skillet and have come to the conclusion that lard works better. That's just my opinion from years of using lard with good results on my cast iron skillets.

After several months of using this product on my old cast iron, I am forced to change my mind about it.My old cast is in better condition than it ever was using lard.It is cleaner, surface is virtually non-stick, and cleanup is easy. The only complaint I have is that you have to nuke it to get it out of the tube if a constant 80+ degree temperature is not maintained where you store it.I have not had any better luck using this product with the new Lodge Logic skillet.I think if I use the skillet enough to get the pre-seasoning off of it, Camp Chef will eventually re-season it.

This conditioner is better than Crisco or any other shortening or oil because it won't go rancid like other oils can.If you don't use your Dutch oven or other cast iron all winter and it just sits somewhere, chances are good that it will be rancid come spring and you'll have to strip and re-season it.That won't happen with this conditioner.

This product works great for conditioning cast iron cookware. I'm not sure that it's better than shortening (Crisco for example), but it's more convenient.

West Bend 84915 5-Quart Oblong-Shaped Slow Cooker with Tote

West Bend 84915 5-Quart Oblong-Shaped Slow Cooker with ToteI've been slow-cooking since the first CrockPots (in the 1950's? -time flies). I've used a couple of dozen or more during that time. Settings were all Low-High-Off, later adding Warm. No bells and whistles. Most of these cookers were very unreliable on temperature control. Except for programming capability, little else has changed in 50 years.

The West Bend Versatility series is a quantum leap forward: non-stick metal pot that can be used to brown meat (any experienced slow-cooker knows what a convenience that is!); converts to a griddle if you don't have one handy; and has an infinite heating control from barely warm to just-short-of-boiling.

Because I'm a gadget geek, I made some tests. (First, please be aware that most slow-cookers typically peak at around the same point --somewhere between 180-210 degrees F, regardless of the heat setting. The main difference between Low, Medium, and High is how quickly the peak temperature is reached. Some of the more sophisticated cookers (the Versatility is one) have lower or higher peaks related to the setting. For the serious cook, these types are preferable).

My tests started with the pot 2/3 full of room-temperature water. I used a calibrated thermometer probe in the center of the pot. I put the cover on, but it wasn't seated where the probe wire exited.

TEMPERATURE SETTING #3 (LOW)HOURSMEASURED TEMPERATURE

3:00194 (Flatlined)

TEMPERATURE SETTING #5 (HIGH)

1:00155

2:00198

2:45209 (Flatlined)

I didn't do a time series on the #1 and #2 settings, but they topped out at 149 and 160 degrees respectively.

Remember that the Versatility setting is infinitely variable, so in-between heating speeds can be used. Also, bear in mind that these temperatures were measuring water only -cooking food may be different.

These ranges were relatively the same on both the 5-quart and 6-quart cookers.

Speaking of quarts, be aware that the "5-quart" has an actual maximum capacity of 4.3 quarts at overflowing. West Bend Customer Service still maintains that it's 5 quarts. The "6-quart" model is an actual 6-quart capacity. Practical capacity for cooking is, of course, less.

As other reviews have noted, there's no "off" setting, so you havee to unplug. However, the cooker end of the cored is unpluggable, so no big deal.

Other reviews have complained about the non-stick coating deteriorating. I refer them to the instructions in the manual, under the heading "Using Your Slow Cooker--First Use" wherein it describes how to avoid damage to the coating. I won't repeat it here -it's in the book. Also, note that while the coating is dishwasher-safe, it will last longer with hand-washing --a breeze due to the non-stick finish. Because so few users actually read directions, West Bend does not cover the non-stick under warranty.

All this said, the Versatiltiy is an incredible value for its price. It's a good example of how excellent design, engineering, and production can result in a quality product at very low cost. It's far and above any cooker I've used before.

4 stars only because it lacks an "off" switch, and the "5-quart" capacity is inaccurate and misleading.

Outstanding product and value!

This is my third West Bend Slow Cooker in 20 years.I got rid of my oldest one and now have two I use regularly. I ordered this one because it had a carrier tote; I take my slow cooker with me to covered-dish dinners and church socials. This is a nice extra feature, but I would have bought a West Bend anyway; I like the adjustable heat-not justhigh, medium and low. I use my slow cookers to thaw and reheat frozen foods, cook turkey breasts, and make soups. You can put ingredients in the cooker in the morning and come home to a hot dinner. This is a good product, easy to clean and can be used on the stove top or even in the freezer. I highly recommend it.

I got this because of a friend's recommendation about a year and a half ago.I was expecting more of a Rival Crockpot type of device and when I first opened it I thought this just is not going to work well.

I am really surprised. It cooks well on the range top, the griddle part also works well as a griddle, and when you put the two together it also works just fine.

I made a pot roast a couple of weeks ago.I first browned onions, garlic and carrotson the stove top. Then I browned the meat an all sides as well.Took that out and tossed a little wine in to mix it all up and then put the meat, the onions, garlic and carrots and bay leaves, rosemary and thyme in the pot.Added beef stock half way up the roast, set it on the griddle base, turned it to low and let it go for about 6 hours. It came out just right.Everything done in the one pot and just the way I like it.

Way better than the old type of crock pot in my opinion.Lots of uses in one device and easy to clean up as well.Could not do better and it was not expensive.

The only reason I can't give this product a 5-star rating is the color. (The picture on Amazon appeared white, the product box used for shipping definitely showed white, but the product is a matte-finish grey. I'm dubious about how it will hold up over time.)

I ordered this product to replace the same thing, received over 30 years ago for a wedding gift. And the only reason I needed a replacement was because the lower portion (element/grill) was lost in a move! All of the original item still worked when last used. I can't say that for any other electrical item that old in my house.

This product has been so reliable and convenient over the years for me that I love to give it for wedding gifts! It's the best way I've found to both brown a roast stove-top, forget it while cooking low on the grill with veggies or beans, and still take the dish to another location. The additional tote I now have with the new cooker will just make transport that much easier. And I frequently refrigerate the leftovers in the pan with lid. Reheating on stove-top is so easy.

Great product!

Paula Deen Signature Porcelain Nonstick 6-Piece Cookware Soup and Stew Set, Red Speckle

Paula Deen Signature Porcelain Nonstick 6-Piece Cookware Soup and Stew Set, Red SpeckleThis pot is so beautiful that if you leave it out on the stove, it looks like something a Better Homes & Gardens photographer would put out in a shoot on to-die-for kitchens. (In my kitchen, the pot is the only magazine-worthy item, but hey, it's a start.)

I was afraid that beauty would mean it was lacking in cooking ability, but it's nice and solid and thick enough to easily and quickly boil a potful of water for spaghetti, to make a big batch of sweet potato corn chowder, and most importantly, it can handle chili.

I've never before owned a pot the right density and shape to make decent chili.I like to use fresh tomatoes and keep the sauce from getting thick and gloppy like canned chili, so for years I've accomplished this by simmering the dish in the microwave for an hour or two on extremely low settings. While my stove (which is fancy enough to be in a magazine article but never clean enough) has a snazzy "crock pot" depth burner, without this pot, the sauce still thickened too much unless I hovered far more than I want.(If I have to check something more than every 30 minutes, preferably 60, I'm unhappy.)

I won't leave my microwaving ways behind me that's a no-hover situation and produces great chili butusing this pot makes it even better. I can leave it safely simmering without worry and easily taste test and tweak the spices now and then, producing the best Tamara's Infamous Chili con Carnage possible. What's even better is that I can put the pot out and let people serve themselves because it's so dang attractive. (Okay, I did that anyway, but it wasn't terribly attractive.) In this pot, you don't even see all the splotches and drips I've left on the outside of the pot since the finish is perfect camouflage for chili.

AND this is a big AND the handles have never required potholders this includes picking the pot up to dump boiling water and noodles through a colander. That's a big fat first for me. It's extra cool, too, since I rarely can find my potholders and normally rely on my husband's freakish ability to latch onto hot stuff and not let go.(Yeah, baby!)

The wooden spoon that comes with the pot is quality, and the three little "ingredients" bowls round out the set making it a perfect gift, too. At least if you can give it up after you see it. . . I couldn't.

All in all, five unburned thumbs up!

Love this set. I bought it to add to my other Paula Deen items and it is perfect. Wonderful for cooking just about any item that needs more space. The spoon that comes with it is NICE really nice heavy and well shaped. The little bowls that come with it are ok not sure what I would use them for but there's nothing wrong with them I just have other bowls I like better. I wash it by hand and use only wooden, plastic or silicone utensils and it's still looking great. I have found that if I place the lid on it I can get water to boil at much lower temps on my electric stove than I could with my old pans. The handles also stay cool to the touch which is really nice and convenient. All in all I love this set and use it all the time.

Circulon Contempo Hard Anodized Nonstick 9-Inch Frittata and Omelette Skillet Duo Set ()I don't know why, but I was fascinated by the idea of the Circulon Frittata Pan and simply had to have it.It's not like a frittata pan is a kitchen essential.I've lived my whole life without experiencing the joys of a specialized pan for eggs. But as an American consumer, I love unnecessary gadgets as much as the next person.I don't mean to downgrade this Circulon pan because, in at least one major way, it exceeded my expectations. As the two halves of the pan are detachable, they can be used independently as 9" skillets. So even if you aren't whipping up the perfect omelet, you can still get daily use from this set.In truth, I'll probably use the two parts separately more often than I use them as they were intended.

Pros:

Detachable pans (as previously mentioned)

Sturdy Construction

Quality Non-Stick Surface

Oven safe to 400 degrees

Cons:

User error still applies.Okay, this might not be the pan's fault. In truth, though, I'd have hoped to make the flipping motion more seamless. You can still make quite a mess if you're not at the top of your cooking game.As I've practiced with various dishes, I've definitely seen an improvement in my performance.Just realize that you can still make a mess (and not a lovely showcase of an egg dish) if you aren't a skilled flipper technician.

Still, though, if you've got to have a frittata pan--this seems to fulfill all the major requirements. So as a practical device that does exactly what it should, it's a solid recommendation.KGHarris, 1/13.

()I've always liked egg dishes, so I was pleased to be able to order this interesting stove top concept. I find it to be a bit difficult to use, easy to clean, but with some quality issues.

Design:

A frittata is classically made by beginning the cooking on the stove, then transferring the pan to the oven to cook completely. This set uses a bottom and top pan (essentially two pans) which interlock at one end. The idea is to start the cooking, attach the second pan via a special locking handle on the side opposite the holding handle, and flip, causing the frittata to cook without the oven. The pans have a sturdy handle that does a good job of keeping cool, and a non-stick coating that is rated for metal utensils (one does not have to use plastic). It did not seem to have any trouble with nonstick and metal utensils. This is not really surprising, since the top pan has to touch the bottom pan; so having a "platic required" coating would not have worked.

Recipe:

It took a lot of tries to get a decent frittata out (they tended to be underdone due to not enough care with step 7 below). There is only a tiny print recipe included, so I'll repeat what worked for me here.

1. Assemble the vegetables and anything else you want to sauté. I also like to use a little cheese.

2. Beat 5 eggs or so together.

3. Heat both pans on medium heat, using two burners on the stove.

4. Place butter or other oil/grease in the deeper pan. This will be used for cooking the vegetables.

5. Place a small amount of butter or oil in the second pan.

6. Cook the vegetables until they are tender. You can season them at this point, or later.

7. Once the vegetables are cooked, pour in about 3/4 of the eggs.

8. As the eggs get more cooked, uses a spatula to raise the edges of the eggs to allow uncooked eggs to go underneath. This step is critical, or the dish won't get cooked through. It usually takes about 4 minutes for this step.

9. Once the eggs are pretty well cooked (just a little runny on top), add the cheese. Then pour the remainder of the eggs over the cheese and blend it together (so the cheese doesn't burn when flipped).

10. Remove the shallower pan from its burner, fit it into the interlocking end of the bottom pan, and carefully but rapidly flip it over. Shake the pan a bit after flipping to ensure everything settles. It will get a bit of egg out of the sides of the pan, but not much. I found it less messy to simply hold both handles together, rather than trying to flip with a hand on either side of the combined pans.

11. Continue cooking for about 5 minutes. At this point everything should be ready to go!

Construction:

While the pans seem sturdy, one of the two sets I received had a loose handle on the side that interlocks the two pans together. It is supposed to be permanently fixed, so I can't just screw it in. Hopefully it will work, but having one out of two with a problem like this causes me to reduce the score to 4 stars.

Cleaning:

Very simple. The nonstick really works.

Summary:

A bit messy, but it works once you get the hang of it. Hopefully my second set was a rare problem in construction. Recommended.

()This is marketed as a Frittata Set, so I'll address that first.A regular frittata starts in a skillet and finishes in the oven. It's sort of a thick, puffy baked omelet. This set allows you to make a frittata completely on the stovetop: you cook the eggs and filling in the larger skillet, then lock the other (preheated) skillet on top and flip the whole thing, to allow the frittata to finish cooking stovetop.I don't really see the point in this. For one thing, how often do people make frittatas? As a Mom, I regularly cook weekend breakfast for a passel of teenaged boys, and I make a frittata maybe once a year.Secondly, I'm not sure that flipping it stovetop is any easier than baking it in the oven.So this pitch is gimmicky to me.(Somewhat of note:Some reviewers state that they used the flipping interlocking pans to make omelets.I guess it's splitting hairs, but from my perspective, omelets by definition are folded over their ingredients, frittatas are open faced -and so if you're flipping your mixture of eggs and filling it's more a frittata.Potato-Potahto.)

But as skillets, this set is very nice. It's 2 nonstick Circulon skillets (one slightly larger).I had Circulon when it first came out, about 20 years ago, and it has evolved this surface is much better.(The grooves are much smaller.)These pans are a handy size for smaller kitchen needs (you could do an omelet in one).I use them for things like sauteeing tomatoes for bruschetta, cooking up shrimp for pasta and shrimpthey're great for those 'smaller burner' jobs that you need to do while using the big burners for the main course. They're also good for grilled cheese, fried eggs, etc. They have an even heat conductivity and they're easy to clean.I like the helper handles and I love that they are safe for metal utensils. They're very handy pans.

PROS:

+ 2 pans

+ Handy size for small to medium jobs

+ Non stick

+ Easy clean

+ Helper handles

+ Safe for metal utensils

+ If you feel it's important, you can in fact interlock them and flip eggs over to cook a frittata stovetop

CONS:

Metal parts of the handles get hot

How often do you make a frittata anyway?

BOTTOM LINE:Frittata or not, these are nice pans to have at hand.

()Flipping is the hardest part of these pans but follow the included instructions and with practice they work great.Heat the smaller pan but cook in the larger pan. When it is time to flip make sure the smaller pan fits tightly in the groove of the larger pan. Then flip over the sink, not the stove!Beautiful!

The pans themselves are fantastic non-stick pans. They clean up with nothing more than a paper towel.Even if I'm not cooking anything that needs to be flipped I have two perfect frying pans. They are well made and although it is early to judge, they look like they will give years of service. The instructions say they are oven safe to 400 degrees but I'm a little nervous about risking them.Anyway, definitely worth the money.

()First, I don't consider myself a cook. I sometimes do cheese omelets, with some milk and mozzarella shredded cheese. These skillets helped me made the best and tastiest omelets so far, and I'm glad I can provide a non-cereal nutritious breakfast for the kids. The skillets seem to be of good quality, although the bottom of one of them got scratched after a few uses. The handles are very comfortable. The set is very flexible to various cooking needs.

Two notes of caution: Do not turn the 2 skillets over unless you are sure the content is solid or it might leak especially if you hold the two handles too tight. This all takes some training: although the 2 skillets fit one into the other, the enclosure is not hermetical. Second, as the enclosed documentation mentions, do not try to wash these in the dishwasher, as they might get discolored.

Precise Heat Surgical Stainless-Steel Oversized Skillet

Precise Heat Surgical Stainless-Steel Oversized SkilletI purchased this pan about a year ago and I have to say it has literally replaced all of my other kitchen pans.I now steam every vegetable at once adding them to adjust for their cooking time.I have given 8 of these for wedding gifts and the people seem to love it as much as I do.Wonderful Investment.

I bought this expecting a high quality product but the bottom is not flat and it does not work well on my glass top range. I would not buy this again. Only way I can use it is to go outside and cook on my gas grill's side burner. Bummer.

I could not believe what an excellent skillet this is. I use it all the time and am so glad I bought it. I highly recommend it to anyone wanting to fry eggs, make chili, or anything else a skillet is used for. This is the ultimate in quality, especially for the price. This oversized skillet would make an excellent wedding gift.

Well made workhorse, I had some reservations about ordering this skillet, but it has been great having a very large skillet that I can easily cook an entire meal in.Very good quality for the price, I got it for $49.99 on sale here on Amazon. It has a nice thick clad bottom that spreads the heat well, even though it's 14" across. The vent mechanism is poorly designed, but does work, that's the only critisism I have for this skillet/steamer.

Want Precise Heat Surgical Stainless-Steel Oversized Skillet Discount?

This steamer cooks food so evenly because it so large. I was so tired of cramming all my vegetables into my small steamer and expecting them to cook evenly. It even has a vent on the lid that you can open or close so that you don't have to keep letting the steam escape when you cook broccoli. This is the answer that I've been looking for after all the wasted money on other steamers. Highly recommended!!

T-fal A857S294 Specialty Nonstick 8-Inch and 10-Inch 2-Piece Fry Pan / Saute Pan Dishwasher Safe Cookware Set, BlackYou can't beat the price on these decent non-stick pans. All our non-stick pans lose their non-stick properties in a year or so, so why pay more for fancy pans that don't last any longer?

Non-stick pans don't like high heat, so these are not the best for searing or other high heat cooking. For that, we "stick" to good old cast iron!

We have been using T-Fal pans for many years. They are good quality and cook very evenly. We highly recomend these for your everyday cooking.

I gave it 3 stars for the nonstick surface.Nowhere in the product information did I find that they are not suitable for glass (ceramic) cook tops. The medallion on the bottom causes it to rock, but if you aren't doing any serious cooking on these small sizes you could probably live with it. I was told they were recommended by Cooks.I subscribe to Cooks and if I can find that issue I'll drop them a note. Because.....I keep a set of Chantal lids, and when I put one on (tried)it didn't fit because the skillet was out of round!Bad quality control.

I opted to purchase this set instead of the ($!@) more-expensive cobalt blue pans to replace those in a full set that I totally wore out through the years. I was afraid that the lower price was a clue that the quality would be inferior, but no-o-o-o! T-Fal, I love you. (And I don't care that you don't match the rest of my set.)

Heavy duty, fabulous non-stick, easy to clean... Love them!

The pan is attractive in color, a deep pan, heats easily. In many ways it is perfect and if I had a gas range I would have given it five stars. However, although the pan bottom is perfectly flat it does still spin easily on a glass cooktop even with a heavy lid on it. I'll keep it since I am the only cook in the house so will remember to be careful when using it.

Wolfgang Puck Stainless Steel 12" Covered Skillet

Wolfgang Puck Stainless Steel 12' Covered SkilletThis pan looks great but should not claim to be an "Omelet" pan. Tried numerous times to make Omelets but they all stuck to the pan right in the center. Yes, I used low heat & Butter, Pam, etc...but everyone stuck.

I was looking for a large oven-safe stainless steel skillet and ended up choosing this pan. Functionally the encapsulated aluminum-disk base seems to give good even heating. The polished finish on the pan is very good. I was surprised by the poor quality on the cast stainless steel handle. The polishing job done on the handle is very poor, which because of its shape has to be done by hand. The hang hole in the handle is uneven/jagged and looks cut by hand. Inside of the hole it's unpolished w/ black marks (which are from the casting) and there are other dings and blemishes in the handle.

The poor quality of the handle makes me question the quality of the skillet as a whole and I'm concerned about how long this skillet will last me. That being said the actual pan portion of the skillet seems to be well made and hopefully will hold up.

This is an excellent pan that would rate 5 stars except for the sharp edges around the handle of the glass top.

A hazard to tender fingers and knuckles.I have made a jury rig solution by taping these sharp edges it remains to be seen if this is a permanent solution.

Circulon Contempo Hard Anodized Nonstick 11-Inch Skillet, Silver

Circulon Contempo Hard Anodized Nonstick 11-Inch Skillet, SilverThis is my first Circulon product so I didn't know what to expect. This particular frying pan is heavy and well-balanced.The handle is very sturdy and the silicone covering makes it non-slip.It fits a standard 10 inch burner. However, it is only 1-3/4 inches deep. Since the sides are sloped and the food doesn't stick, it is easy to stir things out (guess I need to SLOW down when I'm cooking!).It does not come with a lid and I'm not sure if you can order one separately. All in all a good buy IMO.

I have been using this pan now for 3 weeks and it sure has lived up to the Circulon name. I have pan fried chicken and sauted vegetables and also made crepes once. All foods I cook in this pan come out well made. The pan heats up evenly and the non stick coating is superb. Love the pan.

I bought this pan from Amazon after owning a Circulon wok for 14+ years. We LOVE our wok, and Circulon in general gets very good reviews. So we naturally tried Circulon again.

However, I must say I'm disappointed in this pan.It came with a small scratch on the silver coating on the outside of the pan. When I pulled on the little silver tab of coating it stretched a bit and came off.The silver coating immediately surrounding the scratch seamed like it did not adhere to the pan as well as the normal areas, like I could pull some of it off.At first, I ignored it, but after some thought, I was worried that if it came this way when new, the coating might come off too easily while using it.So I waited and thought about it.

A few days later, I discovered that Bed, Bath, & Beyond has this same pan + more. So, I went to actually see them all.(BTW BBB carries these pans for $25 too, but you can use a 20% coupon and save $5.)My local BBB only had 1 of these pans in stock when I went, and it had even more scratches on the outside than the one shipped from Amazon.Additionally, it had 2 minor pits on the outer coating.Everything was minor, but it just doesn't bode well for a brand new product to have any scratches or pits. And this was on the outside.I would expect the outside to take more abuse since it sits directly on a burner.

Maybe I'm expecting too much for a $25 pan.But I expect something "new" to be in near mint condition. And I expect it to be able to take some minor abuse, like people picking it up in the store and possibly bumping it a bit.If it can't stand up to an occasional store trial, how can it stand up to the regular wear & tear of a kitchen?

I will be returning this pan to Amazon.

So sad.I was so excited and didn't even get to cook with it.:(

I will preface this review by informing you that I am not a great cook. So, I utilize frying pans for browning ground beef or sausage, grilled cheese sandwiches, and breakfast items like eggs and pancakes.I have used a beat-up non-stick frying pan for the last 15 years and never thought much about replacing it until the handle broke. So, I found this online for a reasonable price and gave it a try.

Boy am I glad that I did.The non-stick surface is fantastic and seems like it will be durable (although note that I've only had this product for a week). The pan is well constructed and the heat distribution was excellent. The first trial was grilled cheese, and they came out great. The second trial was fried eggs and bacan, and everyone enjoyed. For the results and the price, you really cannot beat this pan!

I've owned many 12" pans, from the cheap to the best in class and this one by Circulon is fantastic. It may be a bit expensive compared to the tefals and the farberwares but this one's in the same league as the anolons. Not too heavy and the heat permeates the entire pan for even cooking. Make sure that you wait till it's totally cooled before washing otherwise the non-stick coating will be damaged. Highly recommended.
