Chantal Copper Fusion 8-Inch Fry Pan, Onyx

Chantal Copper Fusion 8-Inch Fry Pan, OnyxI received this pan for Christmas 2011. I have the larger pan, and loved it, and was so excited to receive another one. I love the way the copper fusion cooks, and the enamel cleans beautifully, with minimal effort. I've used it almost every day for 10 months, and thoroughly enjoye cooking with it.

That being said.

This little pan has got to be one of the worst examples of Chantal cookware I have ever had the misfortune to use. Not only did the enamel start scratching on the interior, only using plastic utensils, and non abrasive cleaners, but the metal edge has started to loosen!

This morning was the final straw. I took it out of the dishwasher, and a large section of the outer enamel is blown off. I have never given it any temperature shocks, and always leave it to cool on a hot pad before washing.

I immediately called Chantal, only to be told it was of course my fault that their expensive cookware is so shoddy. I have had my large pan for four years now, and have never had an ounce of trouble with itbut I will never buy another Chantal product.

We got the whole line of these pans as we had a difficult time finding a sturdy product to work with our induction cooktop.EVERYTHING sticks to them. I found myself scraping spaghetti out of one a few nights ago. They are solidly made, don't have those annoying rivets, and they're beautiful. But, for all that, they are a pain to cook in and clean.

Green Cuisine 7 Inch Skillet with Non Stick Ceramic Coating

Green Cuisine 7 Inch Skillet with Non Stick Ceramic CoatingI received one of these as a gift, and I am blown away.I can't comment on how durable it is, since I've just been using it about a week, but the non-stick ability is just amazing.I've cooked eggs, stir-fry, and spaghetti sauce in it, and everything just slides right out.And clean-up is so easy since nothing sticks, a quick swipe with a dishrag and some soap/hot water, and it's all clean. No soaking necessary, and I don't find myself putting it in the sink to procrastinate cleaning it...I don't even fill up the sink.

I was looking for a "green" alternative to my teflon pans, which inevitably end up scratched and, therefore, dangerous.I have a great cast-iron pan, but it's a pain to clean and some things stick to it like crazy so it's not practical for scrambling a couple of eggs or a quick grilled cheese sandwich.I love this pan!

I plan to "baby" this pan as much as possible to avoid chips and scratches, but the surface does seem pretty durable.

Bodum Chambord Enameled Cast Iron Grill Pan, Orange

Bodum Chambord Enameled Cast Iron Grill Pan, OrangeBefore I bought this pan I did my research and looked at the reviews. Most people liked the pan, but some thought it was to heavy, some the handle to long and some thought it was hard to clean... I bought it anyway! And I'm so glad that I did because it's the greatest grilling pan I have ever used or ever seen!

I love this little pan! It's perfect for 2 people (9 1/2 inches square), everything turns out fantastic and looks wonderful! I'm a small lady under 100 pounds and the pan isn't to much to handle, cleans up great and as far as the long handle, its great too!I've done fresh veggie's, chicken breasts and fish, which all came out great.I think the problem with others that they just didn't wait long enough before they tried to turn something before it was ready to turn on the other side. I wipe or spray olive oil on it before I use it and use olive oil, salt and pepper before I grill an item, needs nothing else. And in a very few minutes, you have the best of an outdoor grill! After you finish and while the pan is still hot, I put hot water in it, add some dish soap and then after the meal is over, the pan is ready to clean...simple and easy!Doesn't get any better! Wonderful food! Fantastic grilling pan! And it looks cute too!

i love bodum products. especially ones that have to do with coffee. this was my first non-coffee bodum product, however.

i used my grill pan for the first time today. but after reading the reviews for this color as well as the others, i honestly did not know what to expect. here are the things that i did to make the most out of the experience.

first, i cleaned it out of the box with soapy water. then, i heated it up really hot with a little bit of olive oil. i also seasoned my steak with olive oil along with salt and pepper. it did indeed splatter like people said. it also stuck a little bit so i kept flipping the steak. when it was done the way i wanted it to (medium rare), i was done. keep in mind that i have an electric smooth stovetop and i kept it on high. the residue wasn't bad. it wasn't completely non-stick but there was little bits stuck to the pan. and finally, i waited until the pan cooled but still warm to soak it with soapy warm water. i scrubbed it a little bit with a cleaning brush and it looks just fine to me.

the steak was delicious, perfectly cooked and seasoned. i will definitely use this pan again.

Otherwise, very good quality, color is great and enjoying it. Handle gets hot closer to the grill and the handle is very long.

There was one glowing review on Amazon when I ordered this pan. When I unboxed it I was very pleased with its look and feel. Maybe this was silly of me, but the box said it was preseasoned, so just washed it lightly with soapy water and tried to cook with it. The hamburgers immediately stuck like glue to it! Afterwards, I scrubbed it completely clean...not easy. Then I seasoned it in my oven. It looked good so I tried cooking with it again...same result. It's very difficult to scrub off the food that sticks to it. It hurt to do it but I threw it in the trash. Now I've started cooking with a new set of Tramontina stainless steel cookware. What a difference. Nothing sticks, as long as I cook at the recommended lower temperatures. Avoid the Bosum Chambord Grill Pan!

T-fal E918SC64 Ultimate Hard Anodized Nonstick Expert Interior Thermo-Spot Heat Indicator Anti-Warp

T-fal E918SC64 Ultimate Hard Anodized Nonstick Expert Interior Thermo-Spot Heat Indicator Anti-Warp Base Dishwasher Safe 12-Piece Cookware Set, GrayI was looking at the specific details of my cookset on here (I purchased mine at Kohl's for $30 MORE than amazon, silly me) but I noticed only one review and that it had but a single star.

This must be remedied.

First off, know that I cook A LOT. I love to cook, my family has a history in the food industry, and I currently work at a very highly rated restaurant. I know food, and I know cookware. I go for top quality or I throw cookware out of the kitchen.

I've always had the issue of never finding true quality in non-stick cookware. Many wanted to go aluminum to heat more quickly, but this left pans warping and sliding about on the kitchen top. Though my biggest problem was finding durable non-stick surfaces.

Secondly, this is the MOST durable non-stick surface I have ever seen (I have tested over a dozen different companies including many competitors including but not limited to Calphalon). I test these by taking my trusty titanium spork with me everywhere I go. If it can't scratch it (95% of the time it scratches straight to the underlying metal), then nothing I do in the kitchen will.

Also, this set heats amazingly well. I never get overburning, though I will warn you that the center (red dot) does heat slightly faster (but not hotter) than the surrounding areas, so be aware to avoid it when pan-searing meats and such.

Lastly, I know that it is marketed as dishwasher safe (I'm more than certain it is), but I highly recommend not doing so. This goes for ALL non-stick cookware. It is a coated material and I don't understand why you would anyway...the MOST effort I've ever had to do was to run water over it with dawn and a brush for less than 30 seconds, then dry with a single paper towel...It's done. Why would you risk shortening the life of your cookware.

In conclusion, This is a great product that I would recommend to anyone. It's durable, well-weighted, and (in my house) has put out some of the most beautifully cooked culinary dishes ever eaten by a privileged wife =)

I love these pans!!They are very sturdy and have a lifetime warranty.I love that if someone uses metal utensils in them they will not scratch :)They are super easy to clean too!I bought a Wok to match!

When, I first received these pans I was truly excited to finally find a set that I could use with metal utensils.I even emailed T-FAL directly just to make sure of this fact before I ordered them.We hand wash all our pans even though these are dishwasher safe.I have had no issues with the frying pans they are still in excellent shape and live up to the T-FAL name, but the other pans in the set are a different story. The non-stick coating on the inside has deteriorated, and it appears as though the pans are rusting. We have stopped using them.

In addition in order to use the "Limited Lifetime Warranty" I must send them back at my own expense to one of the company's authorized repair shops.Even then it is questionable as to whether or not they will be repaired, replaced, or even sent back to me free of charge.I am debating what to do.Perhaps, I will send them back after the holidays, but I will definitely call the repair shop prior to sending them.

DEEPLY DISAPPOINTED!!!!

Since i do most of the cooking I really like the T-Fal. Wife not so much because i won't let her put them in the dishwasher. Suppose to be dishwasher safe but I have seen other brands say that and it didn't turn out so good. We did wash one in the dishwasher and it spotted up bad, so no more. Small price to pay for keeping this cookware in good shape. Don't know what her gripe is as it cleans up very easy.

I have had this cookware for about a year and absolutely love it. It is the best cookware set I have ever used. We normally wash them by hand but I love that they can go in the dishwasher, unlike my MUCH more expensive Calphalon set. I would definitely recommend this cookware!

It's a solid lid, but it's slightly bigger than the T-fal pan.. So I was a bit disappointed. I'm still going to use it, but it would've been nice if it were a perfect fit..

Delivery was on schedule. The product is priced OK, just wish it fit the 12.5 in T-fal pan that I bought it for.I will use it anyway, although I really fault T-fal for not having a snug fitting lid for their non-stick fry pan.

I've been looking for a lid just like this one to fit my 12.5" Swiss Diamond pan for quite some time but was put off by the price of the brand that matched its name. I also found that the matching lid had poor ratings due to a tendancy to shatter seemingly without cause. When I found this one so reasonably priced, I decided to give it a go and it functions beautifully. It's not a snug fit like it was made just for this particular pan but it more than does the job. The only drawback is that the handle will come loose now and then but this should not dissuade anyone from considering it. A light twist and it's ready to go to work again. I would highly recommend this lid!

I cook absolutely EVERYTHING with this skillet! I was raised on cast iron and was lacking any of my own when I first got married. I haven't found any other pan that cooks the way I want short of cast iron. This was a reasonable price and included a lid which is very helpful. So long as you know proper care of cast iron, this item will not disappoint.

Berndes Tradition 9.5 Inch Deep Frypan with Glass Lid

Berndes Tradition 9.5 Inch Deep Frypan with Glass LidI don't know what I'd do without this pan.I use more often than most of my other pans combined. It is a true nonstick, and a great size when cooking for one or two.It heats evenly and retains the heat.I'm totally spoiled by the wooden handle so that I don't know how to react now with a handle that gets hot.You will never regret buying this pan.

I have gone through several sets of pans for the past 10 years or soone of the sets was scanpan which lasted about 3 years and the last set I had bought only lasted three months(I shouldnt disclose the name of the brand), and can't remember other sets. So, this time, I decided to buy something that would last a bit longer, and I started searching for one and came up with this brand. The product descriptions told me this Berndes pan was what I wanted, but I was still skeptical so I only bought one pan although I needed to get more pans.Anyway, I'm loving it so much the bottom of the pan is quite thick, but it's still pretty lightweight. It's been about a month, and I'm very happy with it so I just recently ordered more of Berndes. FYI, after searching for more information on the internet, I found out that they had moved their manufacturing facility to China once, which made it difficult for them to do quality control, but they moved it back to Germany for a better quality with higher price tags. If i'm to compare this to Scanpan Professional, Scanpan is thinner although I can't say Scanpan is lighter.I love this Berndes much more than Scanpan so far.

Buy Berndes Tradition 9.5 Inch Deep Frypan with Glass Lid Now

I picked up one of these used. It's becoming my go to skillet for small meals. I have to agree with the other reviewer about the handle. It fits my hand well and I don't have to worry about being burned by it. What's really nice is what is attached to it. For it's considerable thickness this pan is light and well balanced.

It's cooking performance is excellent. Heats up quick and will do most jobs on low to medium heat.

The used one I have came with some scratches on the nonstick and I don't know how that came to be so I won't comment on it's durability. They do look like the work or ill handled metal utensiles though.Still food releases easily.

I'm most impressed with it's browning ability. It rivals my mag pro and cast iron. I'm so impressed I am considering buying another new.

GE WB31K10217 Griddle Assembly for Range

GE WB31K10217 Griddle Assembly for RangeWe purchased this griddle as a replacement for our worn out, original, 7 year old GE stove top. The original griddle was peeling up and flaking off, sometimes into our food. We purchased this one from Amazon for about 75% of the price that GE wanted.

When we received this replacement, we noticed a difference in color and only a slight difference in texture. Some of that had to do with the previous griddle's usage. The replacement's color is more gray than black, which is no big deal for us, because it's not so gray that it looks out of place against the other black stove top pieces.

Overall, this is a high quality griddle and has been a great replacement. We've had it for several months now and use it about 3 times a week. We have no complaints. Everything cooks great on it and we haven't noticed any flaws at all.

Bought a new GE stove and loved this availability as it reduces the additional equipment needed, fits perfect in the center and easy to clean up, if you get astove that can handle this add on, do it!

Lodge 2HHMC2 Hot Handle Holders/Mitts, multi-color Peppers, Set of 2

Lodge 2HHMC2 Hot Handle Holders/Mitts, multi-color Peppers, Set of 2We invested in cast-iron cookware recently and bought two packages of these. They are fantastic. They get warm from the heat, but never hot.I tried keeping them on the handles all the way while I cooked, but found that they can burn if they're too close to the flame (I guess that is pretty obvious!)However, if you pull them offthe handle halfway so that they are away from the flame, you won't lose them and they'll be there when you need to move the pot.Definitely required for Lodge cookware.

This is a heavy, good quality fitted hot pad for your cast iron skillet. I have used these hot pads to remove 400F skillets from a hot oven. The skillet had been used to bake cornbread. The hot pad protected my hand from the hot skillet handle while I transfered it from oven to counter. I would buy these again.

I use cast iron cookware a lot, and used to drape one of those square "hot pads" over the skillet handles just so I wouldn't absent mindedly grab one. These and the other Lodge handle holders are now a staple.I also learned what another reviewer learned, and you keep them halfway up the handle while the heat is on... because they can scorch. You still need oven mitts for baking, but these are top notch for cast iron skillet use.

These are basically the same as the other Lodge 2 Piece Hot Handle Holder set, except the come decorated with hot peppers. My favorite.

They have a silicon lining inside, which greatly reduces heat. The outside fabric is durable, and the stitching is good.

They're great to have around, and these are much more fun than the boring black color.

I bought about a dozen of these holders.I use them solely for my cast iron skillets. They work very well with an electric range, however beware of using it with a gas range. They tend to catch fire easily on medium to high heat. They have lasted me a few years. They have cloth hooks on the ends I use to hang them on the cupboard handles.Over time the hooks tend to wear out and rip but it doesn't effect the intended use.I will continue to purchase these over the years.

West Bend 79586 6-Quart Capacity Electric Wok

West Bend 79586 6-Quart Capacity Electric WokOnly recently did I start cooking Asian food, after a co-worker had brought in some food that she had made. She told me how to make the food, and after trying it myself, I realized how EASY it is. Anyway... about the Wok... I bought it about a month ago at a local kitchen supply store, and have been really happy with it. It heats up instantly, doesnt stick, etc.

The reason I left out 1 star is because of a bad design. It's very hard to hold on to the handles when taking the food out of the Wok. They should have implemented one big handle, like on a pan. Secondly, their temperature control is sort of hidden under the wok, makes it a BIT hard to change the temperature... but it's not a big problem.

Conclusion: If you want a great electric wok, for the price, this is defenitely a great one. I have no others that I've used before, but compared to any of my other pans/pots, anything... this is hands down the best for the buck :)

I finally had to replace my West Bend Electic Wok after 25 hard years of use.The wok still worked but the electric cord gave out.I could replace the cord for about $20 but I got to looking at what was a beautiful red wok and it was now faded and the interior was beginning to stick.I figured they may have made a few improvements in that time, so opted to by a new one.It was well worth it.Heats up much faster, cools down quicker, larger cooking surface.Since I have a pantry, it stored in the same space as before.I like the metal lid.It is lighter than my first one so I can lift it with one hand and spoon contents out with the other. The only problem I have is seeing the temperature gauge because of the electrical outlet location in my kitchen. The gauge ends up on the left, under the handle.

Cuisinart GGT22-20 GreenGourmet Tri-Ply Stainless 8-Inch Open SkilletI bought this because I have an induction range and needed new non-stick cookware.I really love this skillet! The non-stick finish is the hardest I've ever seen and the pan is heavy and heats evenly. Packaging is recycled. The handle is made from recycled steel. It's safe to put in the oven. It is petroleum free, PTFEand PFOA-free.

Highly recommended.

I love this skillet...wish I had a 10" one as well, and even a 12".No matter what the product, scrambled eggs stick a little. So it is with this one. However, it isn't really stuck, it just isn't incorporated into the eggs that come out of the pan.A quick wipe with a paper towel and the "stuck" eggs are gone.

I also like the fact that if you preheat it (don't get it too hot) it doesn't emit toxic fumes like standard non-stick materials.

The price is right, the product is awesome.

I'm glad the other reviewers have had such a good experience with this pan, but that's not been my experience, I wish it was but it wasn't. I purchased this (not from Amazon) for the reason most people do, trying to go green and stay away from chemicals. On that basis I guess its fine, but to call this pan non-stick is a real stretch. I would describe it as Non-Stick for a short time in the beginning or almost Non-Stick on some type of foods or Non-Stick for cooking eggs if you add lots of butter or oil to the pan. The pan does clean up easily thou and that's good cause half your cooked egg will still be there when you wash it. I own many Cuisinart products and have always been impressed with their quality and value. But this item does not even come close to meeting my expectations.

I looked for quite awhile trying to find a small nonstick pan that didn't have Teflon or other carcinogens. This pan works extremely well better than expected. Eco Life 12-Inch Fry Pan

Eco Life 12-Inch Fry PanI have been using the same non-stick Teflon-coated pan for about 4 years now and its coating has held up with no problems; the only thing that has been a problem is the base of the pan has warped slightly to the point that the center of the pan is noticeably higher than the sides. For most things this isn't a problem and you hardly notice it, except when you fry an egg... then it is full of failure. After being annoyed with fried eggs that were not circular and didn't fit on a sandwich correctly I decided that it was time to look for a new frying pan.

For the price and features I decided on this pan. The things that I liked about it was that it is a thick pan it is not made of foil (I was able to purchase this in a local store). This pan doesn't make any claims about being heavy duty, commercial or of professional grade, and I don't think that it is, but it comes extraordinarily close to it. I also like the stainless steel handle on it none of that plastic or rubber coating to melt off, just the handle secured by two rivets.

The final thing that I was looking for in a frying pan was the type of coating. There are a few new coatings on the market right now in an effort to move away from Teflon. People have problems with Teflon breaking down after a period of time for various reasons and the the pan is useless for the most part when it does start to flake off and become non-existent. This frying pan boasts that it is made in an environmentally safe manor and that there are no chemicals used in or on it that are traditionally used during the manufacturing of a Teflon-coated frying pan. Frankly, all I am looking for in a non-stick frying pan in how well it preforms and and I am not really interested in the details of what makes it safe for the environment. I am, nonetheless, interested in the non-stick coating that is used here a ceramic coating. From what I hear from people ceramic is that best coating for pans; you can use metal utensils on it without damaging it, you can heat it up on the stove top and let it sit there without the coating boiling off and you can put it in the broiler with out much worry also.

I tested this pan out in a practical exercise by preforming tasks that I could either not do at all with my current pan because of its age or dared not try due to the materials used in construction. The first thing I did was put the electric burner on my stove to the maximum setting and let the pan sit on it for about five minutes while I prepared a pot roast to be seared. There was no smoking and no strange smells during this period. After I seasoned the roast I the roast in the pan and commenced with my searing I received perfect results with a teaspoon of oil. There was some seasoning left on the pan after I removed the roast and I decided to play with it while the heat was still on to see how much it was sticking to the pans surface. To my surprise it didn't stick much at all, all of it just slid around the pan without any issues. I poured a cup of water in the pan and let it boil while I put the pot roast in the slow cooker. I poured the water out and I noticed that there was some stains left behind on the coating of the pan. I took a nylon brush to it and my fingernail and it wouldn't come off. I let the pan cool off completely and it still didn't come off. I decided to also perform a test involving an egg. Heated the pan on the burner to about 65% power and let it stay there for about five minutes again, no odors and no smoke, and the coating was still intact. I cracked an egg right in the center of it and it just stayed there in a nice uniform circle without running to one edge of the pan. I let it cook for an appropriate time until it was ready to flip for an over-easy style egg. I used a metal spatula to flip it and didn't have too many issues. The egg wanted to stick to the spatula more than it wanted to stick to the pan. It did take a little coaxing to get the egg off the pan but not much, and once I did there was no part of the egg left on the surface. I cooked the egg to what I consider near perfection for an over-easy style egg without one drop of oil, butter, or cooking spray. I rinsed the pan off and that was it. The small black spots are still there from searing the roast but don't appear to compromise the non-stick coating.

Based on this frying pans performance I can recommend it without reservation. It performs better than any Teflon-coated frying pan I have ever used and because of its construction and materials used for construction I believe that it will be more versatile than a traditional Teflon-coated non-stick frying pan.

Bought this pan to replace one that wasn't so eco-friendly.Was sceptical, but I've had it for more than a year and it still looks brand new.I haven't had anything stick or any trouble cleaning it.I'm considering buying some more in various sizes.

So I bought this pan in hope to use less oil, and less sticky... Weird the first time i used it was very nice, but afterward this pan is hell. It sticks to everything i cook unless i put A LOT of oil... I really dont know why. Actually it sticks even i use a lot of oil.Pretty dissatisfying, but luckily i have other pans to use. Maybe i'm not taking care it correctly..... :(

Bought this approximately 6 months ago. Totally non-stick, contrary to other reviewer. Eggs clean off wonderfully. I've never seen a pan perform like this actually. It's as if the egg temporarily gets stuck (as on a stainless steel or cast iron), then after you have walked away for a bit (say after you eat your egg) and the pan has cooled a bit or something, the egg has flaked and lifted off of the pan. The first time I cooked an egg on it, I was rather upset (as the other reviewer who gave the product a 1 star), but then I went to clean it getting ready to scrub and scrape and the egg came off with minimal effort from a dish rag and warm water...

I typically don't write reviews, but to give this pan a 1 star rating is a great injustice and I thought I'd offset the score so that more people may buy this pan and I'll see more pans like these pans in the store.

Love this pan, I've cooked some awfully nasty stuff on it that cleans off easily. For me, it easily outperforms Teflon with the added benefit of it not being as dangerous as teflon. The coating also hasn't scratched or flaked like teflon pans typically do. Hands down a better non-stick choice than teflon.

I purchased this pan in the hopes of finding something that was safer, stronger, and at least as non-stick as teflon. This is not that product.

The coating on the pan does handle high temperatures, I have seared steaks in the pan without too much of a problem...until it comes time for the cleanup. My old teflon pan can be wiped out, this pan requires almost as much scrubbing as some ancient bare-aluminum camp cookware I used to own!

The ultimate test of non-stick cookware is eggs and this product fails miserably.I generally have to use MORE oil than I do in a stainless steel pan (which has no non-stick coating!).I routinely used approximately a teaspoon of oil in my old non-stick pan to help eggs release, the stainless steel pan requires a tablespoon, this pan requires 3-4 tablespoons of oil or the eggs will stick on like epoxy.

I'm going back to cast iron and stainless steel.

Lodge Pro-Logic P14W3 Cast Iron Wok, Black, 14-inch

Lodge Pro-Logic P14W3 Cast Iron Wok, Black, 14-inchLike all tools in the kitchen, this one has the exact qualities that make it a phenomenal wok that's representative of CAST IRON cookware.

A. It's heavy cast iron, which means it retains heat exceptionally well.Because of the high thermal mass, you'll have to be patient as the wok takes a few minutes to heat up while on the stove. After it heats up, you'll be rewarded with long-lasting high temperature heat (if desired... it's really for you to control... steady medium or low is very attainable, too) perfect for doing restaurant-style stir-frying at home. That is, you can toss food in the pan without worrying that the pan will cool off and boil/steam your food with the escaping moisture.Searing on the home stove is well within this wok's capabilities. All of this just requires patience.

B. It's a wok, which means that the heat is concentrated at the bottom and tapers off going up the sides. You control how you cook your food by where you situate it relative to the bottom/center.The non-slippery surface of the wok makes this possible, since you can slide food up the sides to reduce the amount of heat it gets exposed to, and the food will stay, rather than fall back down to the bottom, like a teflon-based non-stick surface.

C. It's pre-seasoned, so it's fairly non-stick.I have yet to experience having anything completely stick to it while cooking, whether it's coated meat, stir-fry, vegetables, or egg scrambles.

Because it's heavy cast-iron, you get all these benefits that you don't find with the typical woks you see in the marketplace.Compared to traditional woks, this is not one that you'll be handling while you're cooking.Once it heats up, it gets hot... real hot... including the handles. You'll be scooping food out of it rather than pouring food from the wok to a plate, and you'll be leaving it on the stove over dinner until the thing cools down enough to handle.BE CAREFUL!(wouldn't want anyone to experience any nasty surprises)

Also, since it's cast iron, this piece of cookware requires a bit more TLC than your ordinary anodized aluminum/teflon-coated cookware. You won't be washing this with soap, rather Lodge recommends hot water and a stiff brush, and you'll need to keep it dry and seasoned (rubbed with oil) when you're storing it.It's a bit of extra work, but to me, it's completely worth it as even quality teflon-coated pans will wear out far sooner than well cared for cast iron cookware.

At the end of the day, I still use my anodized aluminum/teflon-coated cookware when what I'm cooking calls for it.I reach for my cast iron pieces to do the job they're best suited for... anytime I need steady heat, high temperature cooking, and/or searing capability. It's just a matter of using the right tool for the right job.

Honestly, I'm so glad Lodge makes affordable cast iron cookware.I've been wanting to pick-up some cast-iron pieces for a while.Until I found Lodge via Amazon.com, I have always turned away disappointed when I see how much Le Creuset costs at retail stores. Thanks, Lodge & Amazon.com!

Unless you have a professional quality cooktop (Garland, Wolf, etc.), the typical American stove does not produce enough BTUs to properly heat the traditional rolled steel wok. No matter how long you heat it, it will cool too quickly and the food will boil instead of sear.

However, a pre-heated (I give it at least 10 or 15 minutes) cast iron wok holds on to enough heat to enable you to properly stir-fry.And cleaning is not that bad. After removing the food throw in a cup or two of very hot water and scrub with a stiff, non-nylon (it melts) kitchen brush (a grill brush is ideal). Pour out the dirty water (ok, this is a trick because of the weight), put it back on the heat to boil off any excess moisture, and wipe it with an oiled paper towel and let cool.

By the way, if you like to deep fry, a cast iron wok runs circles around most any fry rig and requires less oil.In fact, deep frying is a great way to season or re-season the wok.

If you want a wok with less maintenance, anodized aluminum (Calphalon, Circulon, Analon, et al) is really your only other choice. It does not sear quite as well because it does not have the same heat retention, but it does a good job because it is so thermally conductive liquid evaporates before it can pool. It works especially well with vegetables and white meats.A little hot water, dishwashing liquid, and a scrubby sponge is all you need.

So I've had a dozen or so WOKs but none that hold the heat so well and cook so evenly.I use it mainly on the gas burner with the high heats, where all the others just don't do well at all, and am thoroughly impressed by it.

The flat bottom does justice when on a traditional electric range and is just as effective in cooking.

I wouldn't buy any other WOK after getting this one, unless of course I need a second duplicate one.

I recently bought this wok after having taken a Thai Culinary Class in Thailand.I needed a wok to produce authentic Thai food.I was a little hesitant to buy this wok since there was no mention in the description or in the reviews about the bottom of the wok. Most woks that have a rounded bottom come with a ring so that it will sit on your cooktop.Thai kitchens assume that everyone has a round bottom wok and the cooktops are fitted to accomodate that. Not so here in the US (unless you buy the wok ring attachment for your Viking stovetop). The wok itself is round on the inside but flat on the bottom, so no issue there. It works nicely on the cooktop.I use this wok for everything. It stays out all the time, whether I'm sauteeing vegetables or creating a stir fry.Its very heavy, and therefore heats up nicely and retains the heat, perfect for whatever you're cooking. It cleans up easily with just hot water and a scrub brush. I would definitely recommend that you buy the wok spatula to go with it, there is a very nice one on Amazon thats stainless steel with a wooden handle. The spatula is curved so that it conforms exactly to the inside curve of the wok.You just can't beat cast iron for cooking!!!I've had many woks, electric ones as well. None can compare to this one!

Bought this wok to replace several generations of non-stick woks whose non-stick coatings have been consistently degrading over time. Knowing the health risks of the non-sticks, I looked around and found this seasoned cast iron wok. First impression is that this is a generational wok, that with its solid construction, this is a wok that you could pass down to your children and grandchildren as long as the instructions regarding cleaning and maintaining the seasoning are followed. The only negative is that this is a fairly heavy wok so I end up washing this wok every time as my wife insists that it is too heavy for her to handle. As per a previous review this wok will sit on your standard sink so it is easy to spray with water and scrub clean. However, it is still fairly heavy and if your cooking needs are limited, I would suggest you downgrade to a smaller diameter cast iron wok. Going one size down will also help you be able to use all of your burners on a standard 4 burner stove as with a wok this wide it will take out of action another one of your burners.

Nordic Ware Restaurant Cookware 10.5-Inch Nonstick Frying Pan

Nordic Ware Restaurant Cookware 10.5-Inch Nonstick Frying Pangreat pan, works exactly like a nonstick pan should.cleans easily and made in america!nordicware makes quality products, and this pan is no exception.

I had just finished purchasing a new basic Cuisinart stainless cookware set and so like it, but there are some things that just require a non-stick frypan...like grilled cheese sandwiches or french style omelets. I accidentally ran across the nordic ware restaurant cookware while looking at bakeware and decided I'd get the nonstick 10" fry pan and it was LOVE! My husband was a bit fearful of the stainless set anyway, and I grew up cooking with aluminum or enamel cast. It has a nifty handle cover that slips on and off, depending on if you want to use it in the oven or on the stove. Its not too heavy to handle, even for me with my fibromyalgia. It takes rough handling quite well, especially all that omelet making on high heat over a rough electric coil burner. This is the cooking I'm used to, and I think I may even get that large covered saute for chops and the like.

Clean up is a breeze, either by hand or in the dishwasher. Temperature regulation is also easy because its aluminum, so it heats and cools quickly. I really can't recommend it enough.

I can see why this pan is so highly rated by others. What the pan lacks in aesthetics, it makes up for in performance. My pan did arrive with a chip in the non-stick coating around the rim, but it is well out of the cooking area so I didn't bother returning it.I purchased a Nordic Ware Pro pan at the same time, and that pan easily earns five stars. The Pro is a little more expensive, but well worth the additional cost.

Had wanted one that is not expensive that I coul throw away after one year. This pan is very good, food just slides off. It is a bit bigger than I had wanted for makimg omlettes, but is now good for more uses. Will look to see if I can get a smaller one. Best is that it is made in the US, that was the most important thing for me.
