Universal Housewares Pre-Seasoned Cast Iron 3 Piece Skillet SetThese are great for a single person but would be a waste for a family. I have to get use to these again. My son cooked bacon in one and it was sticking really bad. I know there are tricks to using cast iron, so I'll start doing some research to get back in the old groove. I love cast iron and these smaller pans are good for just me. If you are planning to purchase these, please note they are all really small. The little one would fry one egg, the middle one would do pancakes or tortillas and the largest one is good for bacon or a couple of pork chops. That should give you an idea of how big they are. Hope this helps.

I got these yesterday, and they were what I expected-really small, kinda small and medium. I'm not sure why others have complained about the sizes when they're stated clearly, but you need smaller pans for various reasons and these fit the bill. After rinsing, I used the middle one to saute some ham and cheeses for sandwiches as a testI mean, what doesn't ham stick to? But the pan worked perfectly, nothing stuck, and cleanup was easy with water and a brush.

So these are smaller utensils for special purposes, and from what i've seen are well done. I expect I'll use them for quite a few years, and if cooking doesn't become a thing of the past, my grandkids will still be using them long after. Iron tools are great in general and these are a good addition to my kitchen.

[Two weeks later] Having used these several times, now, I'm still satisfied with the purchase. The seasoning on one turned out to be a little thin and let some of the metal show through on the high spots, but it's not a big deal and hasn't affected the performance of the pan. I've been very pleased with how easy they are to clean, and they're so much better than lighter pans for sauteing and searing-I use an electric range, and the extra mass of these pans stores enough energy that the temperatures are much better controlled, and cooking is a lot more fun as a result. I'd make the purchase again without reservation.

These are very basic skillets. No fancy handles, just simple pre-seasoned skillets.I bought one other cheap skillet (Stansport Cast Iron 8 Inch Fry Pan) that I returned because it was actually crappy. I didn't know that was possible; skillets are so simple.

The sizes on these are good too. I use the small one for small ingredient prep before adding it to soup, the medium one for frying toast, and the large one for small dishes. I also own a 12" which is the size I use the most so I bought it years ago.

We got this set thinking wed use them all the time.We do but its mostly the smallest one we use all the time.It stays on our stovetop due to daily use.The quality is great and they season themselves well.Dont be fooled into buying the more expensive ones.

Heuck 33004 Pre-Seasoned Cast Iron 17 Inch Reversible GriddleI looked at them all.The $40 grills, the $80 grills...and I thought, it's cast iron for goodness sake just try the cheap one!I am not disappointed.I can't believe we didn't have one of these sooner.It's pre-seasoned nicely -little to no sticking during the first use.It retains a nice, even heat very well.There is a small section on the griddle side that is somewhat irregular but I wasn't aiming for the perfection of Teflon anyway.I gave it 4 instead of 5 stars because it seems a bit narrow and there doesn't seem to be a lot of space for grease to go.-We generally don't cook with high-fat meats so it won't be a problem for us.

Besides meats, it makes a great panini-like sandwich.-Or a grilled burrito. Cleanup is easy.If you are interested in a stove-top grill but don't want to spend a lot of money -this is the one for you.



Like the previous review, my grill had a smelled really bad the first time I used it. I washed the grill the same way I washed all my other cast iron (5 different pots/pans) so I thought it would be okay. Before using it a second time I rewashed and thoroughly scrubbed the grill and there was no smell. Seems like the wax applied to the grill for shipping is the culprit.

Another complaint (and the reason it lost another star) I have is that my grill came slightly warped and doesn't fit flush with my stove. Since I have a gas stove this isn't too big of a deal but I would have been extremely annoyed and returned it if I had an electric stove.

This griddle is awful!It says that it come preseasoned, but I am wondering what PETROLEUM product they seasoned it with.I washed it in mild detergent after receiving it (as per instructions) then used it for french toast.It cooked fine, but the odor once heated was awful!It smelled like gasoline and paint mixed.The food tasted the same as the smell. To give the product the benefit of the doubt, I washed it again, this time using vinegar and strong detergent (hoping to get the layer of whatever it was off). Knowing that it would need to be seasoned again, I coated it in canola oil and put it in the oven to season.After about 10 minutes the house was filled with that awful smell and everyone's eyes were burning.Needless to say I WILL NOT be cooking anything on this griddle.Terrible choice by the manufacturer either in the coating or product materials themselves.

product works wonderfully only gripe would be burners on MY stove are a little far apart for this griddle so it heats at the ends of the griddle, i would have liked it more toward the center but it still works fantastic, heats evenly, even to the middle, gets real hot though and quickly.

for the price i have no complaints, it does it's job adequately. that's for both the grill or the griddle.

Duncan 2-Piece Long Handle Pan Holder, BlackThese are cute but not functional. You cannot leave it on the pot while you are cooking, because the green material begins to smoke. On their other products they say only the black part is heat resistant, yet these are designed with both green and black on the inside part that touches the pot handle. I was looking for something to use with cast iron cookware and this is not it.



These are terrible.

I bought these for cast iron....I smelled burning rubber after only a few seconds. I thought maybe I could at least use them for my stainless steel handles....but they also melt and smell.

You may be able to use these with plastic handles....I wouldn't know, my wife made me throw them out.

Whatever you do, DO NOT leave them on the handles while you cook.

I needed to replace my old Lodge Skillet Handle after using it for many years, and decided to get this product instead. Unfortunately when the skillet handle gets hot the holder gives off a horrible, toxic smelling odor and I can actually see fumes rising from it. This is with a pan on low to medium heat, not even high. I will not allow my family to breathe this, and as I gave one of the two handles away, I can't return it. I'm throwing it away and buying another Lodge handle.

I bought these handle covers for my cast iron pans because the old cloth ones were wearing out.These get hot if left on the pan and will smoke if they get over a hot spot on the stove.

I like to use my pans in the oven and these pot holders do not allow me to pick up a cast iron skillet without additional protection.

The one bright spot is that I can put them in the top rack of the dishwasher.

This product, while it does protect my hands from the hot pot handle, I have to be careful not to put it all the way on or it starts to get so hot itself that it gives off a melting rubber smell.

Corkcicle Classic Wine Chiller, CorkThis is a clever product, no doubt, BUT it has two drawbacks.First, you have to remove the icicle to pour wine.This is awkward and messy.Second, the icicle only goes halfway down the bottle.Given the shape of the bottle, that means that when the bottle is less than half full the icicle no longer touches the wine and is thus ineffective.



The Corkcicle is placed in the freezer, and when the gel in the tube is chilled, you replace the bottle's cork with this but unfortunately, the product doesn't really keep your chilled wine chilled for an extended period, or cool off your warm wines and keep it that way for a while.

For chilled wines, I found that after about 1/2 hour, the wine wasn't kept as crisp and chilled as the old reliable bucket with ice would keep it, unless you are drinking your wine quickly. And who does that? For the warm wines, it creates some cooling, but the warmth of the wine warms the Corkcicle, so the wine does not remain at an adequate temperature. And the problem exasperates itself when dealing with large bottles of wine, the kind you might put out for when you have guests.

Another thing I've discovered while using it is that when you go to pour your wine and remove the Corkcicle, wine drips from it, so you have to keep something handy to wipe. At least with the old bucket, I wipe the moisture from the bottle, and it's just water. With this thing, I'm wiping up red wine.

If you are a wine enthusiast, don't replace the ice bucket with this thing. If you are thinking about this as a gift, you might want to think again. It is nothing but a novelty item. All in all this pan has done exactly what it was supposed to. I just made some eggs in it this morning and they peeled off beautifully without a single spot sticking. Make sure to oil it up right when you get it as the instructions suggest. I can't comment for the durability as I've only had it about a week now, but so far so good (I'll update this if it goes to pieces in the near future). I will say, color wise, the blue is really dark and basically looks black so the color aspect isn't as fun as I had hoped for.But if you're in the market for a Teflon-free non stick skillet give this a shot.

KRUPS FDE312-75 Universal Grill and Panini Maker with Nonstick Cooking Plates, SilverWell, this product makes great panini!You can use it to make just about any sandwich very special.If you use really fresh ingredients, the results are as good as at any market in Italy (that is where I got hooked on these).It not only makes Panini, but can be used to grill chicken, hamburgers, sausage, etc, and then throw in the buns before assembling for a gourmet treat.

I got mine as a Christmas gift and used it at least weekly for about 6 months till I moved, and had to pack it for a while.When I got it out of storage (January the next year) it worked for only 4 times, then just stopped.It wouldn't heat; lights wouldn't come on, nothing worked!

I called the local Krups repair site, and they told me if it was over 1 year old, throw it away and buy another.I was royally upset!Appliances that cost over $100 should not fail in 6 months of use!In the old days, a repair shop could fix anything, and they would never tell you to throw it away.

Well, I went to Amazon and read the many similar stories of short life, and sudden failure and realized I was out of luck.After the one year warranty expires, the repair places (who normally would just get a new warranty replacement from Krups and have it sent to you) won't touch it.

Having nothing to lose, I removed the single Phillips screw in the center of the underside of the unit and opened up the unit.The griddle surface separates from the stainless base once this screw is removed.In here I saw a device which looks like a resistor held in place by two small clamps inside a clear plastic tube.I plugged the unit in and tested the voltage across the terminals of this device, and it read 125V.I knew immediately that this was the problem, as it was preventing the entire unit from getting voltage.I disassembled the clamps and slid the tube off, then cut the part off of the two wires.

Looking on the web, I found out the part is a simple and very common "heat fuse", intended to break the circuit if the thermostat (located in the top half) failed and the unit started to melt down or overheat.

This device does not reset once the unit cools, but sacrifices itself.When it exceeds 240 degrees centigrade, it disconnects power to the unit permanently and must be replaced.This is the reason so many people have had failures.

Either the unit runs hotter than the designers anticipated (most likely), the current is too high (doubtful as the unit draws 1500 Watts, 750W per side and the device is rated for 15 Amps at 120 Volts.1500W only draws 12.5 Amps, so that is well below the 15 Amp capacity of the component), or it was a faulty component.Considering that these components are used in a huge number of heating appliances, it is most likely that the designed temperature for this component is too high.Here is an excerpt from the manufacturers web site:

"The temperatures experienced during normal operation, including expected temperature overshoots, will determine the life expectancy of the TCO. Nuisance trips can result if the thermal cutoff rating is too close to the temperatures experienced during normal operation (this is probably what happens!). Continuous temperatures above 200°C will cause the sealing compound to weaken and ultimately fail. In addition, as shown in figure 4, each thermal cutoff calibration has a maximum temperature overshoot rating (TM). Overshoot temperatures above this rating may cause dielectric breakdown of the thermal cutoff and allow reconduction to occur. See Therm-O-Disc's MICROTEMP® Thermal Cutoff Technical Bulletin for more information.

The safest way to repair the unit is to replace the failed temperature fuse.It is made by Therm-O-Disc and is a Microtemp model G4A00240C.You can find these on the web for about $6.00 (or free if you request a sample from Therm-O-Disc on their web site).You will need a crimp tool and some bare crimps to crimp the wires to the new temperature fuse.I just used some bare (non insulated!) crimp spade lugs and cut off the spade part (Radio Shack or any auto parts store).Do not use insulated spade lugs as the insulation will melt under these temperature extremes.When you dissemble it in the first place, take a picture of the insides before you start unscrewing and cutting.Then you will know exactly how to reassemble the parts.As the positioning of the temp sensor is critical, make sure when you reassemble, you do it exactly the same way it was (direction of the clamps holding the wire and temp fuse, etc).

As my patience was thin after speaking to the Krups repair facility, I took the unsafe route and simply bypassed this component (cut it out and crimped the two wires together).All works perfectly now.As I never plan on leaving the unit unattended, I am not too worried about the temperature fuse not being there (worst case, the thermostat gives out and the heating unit melts the griddle, which will drip into the stainless steel housing, short out the power, and blow a breaker.)I do not recommend the later solution, as the UL listing will be compromised.

If you take the safe route, you should buy a few of these temperature fuse units, as the design problem is not corrected by replacing the part, and it may only last a few months before you have to do it again.When you crimp the component in, make sure you do a good job (tight crimp), if you can pull the wires out of the crimp with your hands, you didn't crimp hard enough.If this happens, the poor connection will generate its own heat and cause the temperature fuse to trip.

Remember, all of these components are subject to very high temperatures, so do not attempt to "lengthen the wire" or use electrical tape, or solder to make the connection.Unless you have materials rated for 240 degrees C, do not use them in the repair.You can use solder but only in addition to a good crimp.

Well, I am back to making great Panini and didn't have to buy anything!I am a happy camper!Cheers.

Had the Krups model for about 3 years before it decided not to turn on one day -so to replace it, thought I'd try something different.Went with the DeLonghi CGH800 this time, about $20 cheaper.I loved my Krups, and initially thought I'd like the DeLonghi a bit better.Here's my experience:

*Krups always "sparked" at the outlet when I unplugged it. Not so with the DeLonghi.

*DeLonghi has adjustable heat, so, although I only used the Krups for Panini, I'm kind of excited about the options I now have with the DeLonghi.I'm inspired to try a burger or chicken! It also has a channel where the grease can run off -and a little cup to catch the grease.If you'd ever use the Krups for anything other than a sandwich -the grease would have no where to go.

*DeLonghi has wider channels on the grill plate -which make it a lot easier to clean up. BUT, this is also the reason the panini DOES NOT get as crispy as it does on the Krups.

*The Krups latch, meant to hold the top & bottom together so you can store it on its side, was flimsy and broke after a week.It latched when I didn't want it to -and wouldn't when I did.(A minor thing, but it got to be annoying.) There seems to be no threat of that happening with the big latch on the DeLonghi.

*The DeLonghi is kind of "chunky" -it takes up more space when stored on its side than the Krups.The Krups also has a slightly bigger grill surface.

There's my 2 cents.Happy sandwich-making!

Undoubtedly, the Earl of Sandwich never dreamed of these mighty little morsels that have crossed the ocean from Italy and are now found here in bistros and take-outs.Another good place to find them we've discovered is at home if you have this Krups grill.

Panini, as most know are delectable cheese and meat sandwichs (think prosciutto and mozarella) that are toasted on a grill, flattened to a slim configuration.

This Krups grill has nonstick plates on both top and bottom, so it's easy-clean.Very much like all of the other Krups products I've used it is well made no wobble (we have a waffle iron that appears to dance).

And, it's multi-purpose great for burgers, chicken breasts.

Kudos to Krups for this one!

Mine gave up the ghost after about 10 months of very light use (maybe used 15 times). It was purchased earlier so no warranty. I opened up to see if there is any fuse inside or heating elements weant bad. Turns out there is a thermal fuse to prevent overheating (I guess it is a double safety measure in case thermosotat fails). I called the Krups customer service to be told that to buy a new one. I asked if they would provide the fuse, they said no. I asked the cutout temperature, they said no. Being dumbstruck, I expressed my thinking when it comes to next appliance purchase, I am going to be remembering this. He says, "well then" and hangs up the phone.

It is a Radio Shack item and $1.50 each (443?F (228?C) Thermal Protector Fuse Model: 270-1321, Catalog #: 270-1321).

I gave one star because the life span and awful customer service afterwards.

I've been using this for two weeks and the panini I'm making are delicious. It's so easy to use that I never hesitate to make panini; all you do is plug it in and wait a few minutes for it to heat up. Clean-up is also easy because of the non-stick surface. My one complaint, and the reason I give it 4 stars instead of 5, is that the handle, which wraps around three sides, is not entirely covered in protective plastic and gets as hot as the grill surface. I keep accidentally hitting the sides with my hands and getting tiny burns. Now, after reading the other reviews, I hope that my panini maker lasts a long time and does not break or mysteriously die. If that should happen, I shall post an update. For now, I give it two thumbs up with a word of caution to guard those thumbs from getting burnt.

This twin pack may be a good deal on its own, but know that you're getting light weight skillets.

The scam is that neither Anolon nor Amazon mentions the difference in design.

I have several Anolon Advanced pans and skillets and like them all very much. There is nothing 'wrong' with this set, but the pans are NOT as heavy as some of the other pans. I was initially disappointed by that since I really like the hefty feel of my other Anolon Advanced pans. That's why I'm giving it a "Almost Great" rating.I will say that the pans do seem to work just as well as the others I have. And the quality seems just as good. I DO wish, however, that it had been noted in the product write up that these pans are not the same thickness/weight as the others. So, if you are picky about things like that as I am, then this is your warning.If you don't care about weight or thickness, then I'd say you will love these pans. Again, the quality is there, the nonstick works great, and they are wonderful to work with.For those new to Anolon Advanced, be warned that you absolutely can NOT use high temps on any of the pans. Preheat your pans to a medium setting first and you'll have the best results. These pans DO hold temperature really well and will get very hot, even on a medium setting.Enjoy!

I've used Anolon Advanced for years and needed to replace 3 of my pans.I ordered them offline after reading the description which was described exactly as my original pans but alas, they're not.The 10" is almost 1/2 the weight of the original pan and I don't like the feel of the new non-stick pans.. it's very rough.I will return these and look to another line of cookware for the same weight pans that Anolon used to offer.What a shame, I loved my Anolon cookware!

I read the reviews of this skillet set and disregarded the naysayers.The pans that arrived at my house were lightweight (clearly not the Anolon quality of the past) and the nonstick coating was horrible.I purchased the set mainly for eggs and to fry various items without oil.The first day I tried scrambled eggs.They stuck to the pan worse than the skillets I had just thrown away.The second day I fried shrimp for a curry.No matter which way I turned the pan on the burner, one side got hotter than the other.These pans are going back and I'm on my way to Costco for a better/lower priced set.I don't return Amazon items very often, please believe me when I tell you that these pans are not worth the money.

I was delighted at the price of this item, as I had purchased the same brand years ago and had worked through the teflon on some of my saute pans.What arrived was not at all the same quality or heft of what I had before, even though the brand is exactly the same.This pan is still well made, but I don't get the same sense of confidence that it will heat evenly as I do with the older models of the same pan.

Circulon Cookware Espree 10-Piece Hard Anodized SetWe've had this set for about 8 months nowand we have no regrets.I just cooked an omelet this morning with no butter or oil and it slid right out of the pan.The non-stick surface is not only slick, but it's strong as well.I've had teflon pans in the past that scratch very easily.I know I shouldn't but sometimes I'll use a metal fork or spoon to flip bacon or stir sauce, etc, and I still see no scratches on any surfaces.

A feature that interested me when I bought it but wasn't quite convinced it would work are all of the grooves/rings on the bottom interior of all of the cookware.They are supposed to reduce utensil contact with the non-stick surface, and at the same time create more even heating of the food.I've found both of these claims to be true.Also, the instructions said I would not need to use a temperature above 5 (out of 10) on the stove top because the special design amplifies the heat.I didn't believe this at first but found it to be true too.I cooked Taylor pork roll on 3 (electric stove) and it was done in a few minutes, nice and brown, VERY evenly cooked, a bit crispy and very hot.With my last pan set I would have been using a 6 setting, so I suppose I am now using less electricity too.The only time I use a temperature above 5 is when I am using one of the pots and a recipe tells me to get a rolling boil going.

The only down side is that because it has a grooved surface, food sometimes will stay between the grooves, but this easily slides out when I wash the pan with soap and hot water, which you need to do anyway to clean the pan.

Also, I wish the set came with a 12" skillet.It does not, and as far as I know, there is no 12" skillet in the Espree collection, so I bought the 12" Infinite skillet.The only difference is that it has a steel handle, otherwise it seems to be just the same as the rest of the Espree collection.

Oh, and one more thing, the bottoms of the cookware are very thick, hard and durable.When my wife and I were deciding between the Circulon and Calphalon sets, we chose the Circulon because she thought the bottoms looked sturdier.It was 50/50 up until that point, and that's what sealed the deal for the Circulon.

Le Creuset Signature Enameled Cast-Iron 5-1/2-Quart Round French Oven, CherryI bought this because I had used a Le Creuset dutch oven long ago, in grad school. Several of our professors in the department were very good cooks and they all swore by a particular French pot that was the best thing for stews, braised meats, soups --anything, in short, you wanted to cook in a dutch oven.

We've had ours for quite some time. I leave it on the stove because it's heavy and because I probably use it once a week to cook a dinner to serve for the weekend and then pack up for busy weeknights.

It is true that the enamel is practically non-stick. If you do not let the pot get over heated, which it does NOT like, and which will damage the enamel, it will stay "non-stick" for a long time. If you do not scratch the enamel with harsh scrubbing pads or with metal implements, it will stay in good order.

The pot is HEAVY. Now, this is a consideration if you have arthritis. It sounds trivial until you develop joint problems (my thumbs and one wrist are not what they were....) and so lifting it in and out of the oven is an issue for some people. The lid handle, a flat knob, requires you to use a pot holder, and the same for the stirrup handles. I suggest glove-type hot mitts instead of a pad for a sure grip if you are removing it from a hot oven or hot stove.

Clean-up is easy. Let the pot cool, soak in some soapy water, wipe out and if needed, use a mild nylon scrubbing pad. There will be some staining (or patina) from some foods, and if this bothers you, you can use a special cleanser but I don't worry. Some people do clean the stubborn stains with a paste of Barkeepers Friend, which is said not to be abrasive. If you burn the pot, you can remove the burnt-on crust by an easy technique (applies to any pan.) Boil up some baking soda in water in the pan. Let it sit. The burnt stuff will peel off and you can then wash out the pot.

I will include here my recipe for French-Style pot roast, which we liked a lot and was my husband's absolutely favorite dish.

3 1/2 lb of beef shoulder or boneless chuck roast

2 Tbsp olive or grapeseed oil

Salt, pepper, and a bay leaf

2 medium yellow onions, cut in chunks

1 leek, well cleaned, just the white part cut into slices.

3 cloves of garlic, peeled

1/3 bottle of merlot wine

1/2 lb mushrooms (white or crimini brown) cleaned and sliced

2 Tbs tomato paste

1 Tbs Minor's Beef Base or substitute 1 cube or packet beef bouillon powder

Method:

Dry the beef and saute in hot oil in the dutch oven. Brown on all sides, remove to a plate to hold. Saute onions and leeks until they just begin to clear, add in crushed garlic and 1/2 of the mushrooms. Let the mushrooms wilt and add in the wine. Cook down until the wine is reduce by at least half. Add in the beef base, tomato paste, seasonings, bay leaf, add back the beef, the wine and reduce somewhat. Then add enough water to cover up to half the height of the meat. Cook on the stove top until the meat is very tender (about 2.5 hours, your time may vary.) Some people do this step in a 350 degree oven and you can certainly do that, too.

Remove beef to a plate, keep it warm, pour off the gravy, skim off the fat (I use a gravy separator) and puree the gravy if you want it smooth. Saute the rest of the mushrooms and add them to the gravy and reheat this sauce. (you can do the mushrooms ahead of time.) Slice the meat across the grain, serve with the sauce.



Bits of the inside finish chipped off after I had used it approximately 4 times to make onion soup.I sent it to Le Creuset to be replaced under the terms of their warranty which said that the warranty would be voided if the pot had been burned. I was completely confident that the pot had not been burned.There were no scorch marks, burn marks or any other indications that the pot had been burned. The missing chips were scattered at random on the bottom of the pot.(In other words, they did not show a distinctive circular pattern which may have resulted from the circular heating element.)

Much to my astonishment, they refused to replace it because they claimed that the pot had been burned.It hadn't been burned.They refused to return the pot to me so I had no way of disputing their claim.

However, they did offer to send me another pot for a fairly large amount of money.

Needless to say, I love it.

It browns, sears, develops fond, deglazes, fries, bakes, sautes; it does everything.In it, I have made soup, stew, red sauces, enchilada sauces, macaroni and cheese, as well as any dish that requires sauteing onions first. I have seared and cooked all kinds of meat, fried donuts, onion rings and french fries. I love using it. It does Everything it is supposed to do Perfectly. It cleans up terribly easily; you'd think it would be super hard considering the things I've made it in, but you'd be wrong. It is heavy and durable and will last forever.I love it and would never give it up.

It is, without a doubt, the single best thing I have ever bought to use in my kitchen, for cooking or otherwise.

I've been switching out different pots and pans for Le Creuset items for about 2 years now and this dutch oven receives some of the heaviest usage. It was one of the first items that I purchased and has been used for baking bread, braising meats, soups, stews, steaming vegetables, caramelizing onions, mulling wine...you get the idea. Its in use almost daily and has been for going on two years and it still works like the day I bought it.

Thats part of whats great about the enameled cast iron. Its relatively non stick without the upkeep of seasoned cast iron or the durability issues of teflon cookware. Add to that that enameled surfaces are more heat resistant than the fancy teflon coatings and won't leach anything into your food and you have a great product.

I have noticed a bit of discoloration on the inside of the pot when I do heavily spiced dishes that cook for a long time (think chili, indian food, etc). It isn't easy to get this discoloration to go away but over the course of several use and wash cycles it does seem to lighten. I know there are websites devoted to cleaning your Le Creuset cookware, but I don't mind the staining, its not dirty its just well loved.

The same goes for the outside of the oven. I have noticed some darkening of the enamel (I have a cherry colored oven). It seems to happen when the enamel is exposed to high heat (i.e. the bottom of the pan gets a bit darker and if you bake a loaf of bread in the pan on broil instead of bake...oops...the lid turns a shade or two darker). Again this isnt I big deal for me it doesn't effect the pan's usage and I kind of like having a kitchen that looks like it gets used regularly.

So official rundown/conclusions:

The pan is incredibly versatile

The pan cooks like a dream

The pan's coating is fantastically durable and should last forever...lets hope..

The pan looks great on day one and, as long as you don't mind a kitchen that looks like it gets a bit of use now and again, could be a staple on your kitchen stove for years to come

Would I buy it again? A resounding yes
