Wolfgang Puck Indoor Electric Reversible Grill & Griddle

Wolfgang Puck Indoor Electric Reversible Grill & GriddleHeats ups quickly and evenly; I've cooked everything from pancakes, to paninis(griddle side)and steak, shrimp and burgers (grill side) with wonderful results. The griddle side gives me good browning and crisping, while grill side cooks evenly and leaves great grill marks. Also does a good job of keeping food warm.(I don't even set it to "warm", I just unplug it).The grease trapper is the same size as the grill/griddle, which is good and bad because if you're cooking for a large group, you don't have to worry about the trap overflowing. But the bad news is that the "trapper tray" isn't dishwasher safe. But the grill itself is, so that's good news. But once again, it is pretty large (I can fit 6 pieces of French Toast comfortably), so you'll need a next-to-empty or very large dishwasher to make it fit.All in all, great grill and I'm very happy with my purchase, and 2.5 years later, it still works great even with my husband and kids abusing it.Oh, one more thing, sort of off the subject:If you don't own or haven't used the product you're reviewing, it makes it difficult to review the product.Customer services rants are not helpful and should be aired out in another venue.

I've been trying the Presto's, only to find that my eggs run to the center. Pancakes were troublesome because these other grills couldn't get quite hot enough.

Finally found this Wolfgang Puck. Perfectly flat eggs don't roll at all, staying in a circle. Gets hot enough to make really good pancakes and is big enough to make four. Haven't tried the grill side yet.

Surface heating seems to be uniform. I browned all four pancakes to the same level of 'brownness'.

UPDATE (June 2010):

The numbers on the thermostat wash off within 6 months. You will not be able to determine temperature settings. Manufacturer is unresponsive.

I like it.The next best thing to a commercial-grade grill. The entire surface temperature appears to be even as I don't see a difference in how quickly items cook on one side versus the other or the edges versus the middle.Any griddle you buy will be a pain to clean (isn't cleaning ALWAYS a PAIN?) but this one cleans relatively easy. The griddle/grill lifts off the base and there is a drip-pan underneath that is also removable.

Only problem I have, which is not really a problem with the griddle, is that I can't be running too many items in the kitchen while I use it because it will trip the Kitchen Outlets' circuit breaker.

This is the greatest griddle we have ever owned. We love how it cooks food evenly. The only complaint is the product itself wasn't in mint condition. The black plastic around the handle areas had many little chips. Unless pointed out they are barely noticeable.Seems like a manufacturing flaw not damage from shipment. This was the second one reshipped and it had the same flaws on it.

I purchased this double griddle/grill when my past griddle bit the dust. While the previous had been just for pancakes or maybe eggs, this is something we use all the time.

First, it's super easy to clean (easier than my panini maker!), mainly because you can lift the center cooking unit out of the holding rack and clean it alone, instead of one gigantic thing to clean at once. When you lift it out you can wash it easily. The nonstick coating isn't the cheap kind...this feels more like a real cast iron coating that is heavy and not going to chip into your food (however, I still use plastic utensils so as to not scratch it).

The chrome rack that holds it all is lightweight and usually stays clean when you cook, so just a wipe with a towel is fine...it doesn't get meat juices or grease on it because of the design.

The heat distributes evenly across the top, leaving no hot spots. The controls are pretty precise, not jumping from 300 to 400 but giving you some incremental changes that are helpful.

We use it cook chicken breasts and steaks, cuban sandwiches (weigh down with a brick), breakfast foods, etc. We've also used it to quickly heat tortillas and make homemade corn tortilla chips by cutting them into triangles and placing on a very hot lightly greased flat side.Justa few seconds and a flip and they come out like corn chips without the oil.

One suggestion would be to make sure you realize how wide it is...about 24", and about 15" deep.So it's pretty big for your countertop.

Hope this is helpful to you!

Circulon Symmetry Hard Anodized Nonstick Skillet

Circulon Symmetry Hard Anodized Nonstick Skillet, 8.5-InchHaving owned both Calphalon and Circulon pots and pans for an equal number of several years, my wife and I noticed the two Circulon pans (10" & 12") have been holding up just fine and still have plenty of use left.

The Calphalon 4 & 6 quart pots which we don't even use very often have started to have a white discoloration to about 60% of the bottom surface.Nothing is peeling yet, but there is discoloration. The two 8" Calphalon omelette pans have already been peeling for the last year or so.

Given the cost of the Calphalon and lackluster reliability we've seen, we decided to switch them out for Circulon. My wife was so happy with the ease of clean-up and light weight of this 8-1/2 inch Circulon skillet, that she had me order another Circulon Symmetry Hard Anodized Nonstick Open Skillet, 8-1/2-Inch when we recently placed an order for the Circulon Symmetry Hard Anodized Nonstick Covered Casserole, 5-1/2-Quart and the Circulon Symmetry Hard Anodized Nonstick Covered Saute, 3-Quart

I like the fact the sides of the Circulon are not as sloped as the Calphalon meaning you truly get a larger flat bottom cooking surface even if both are specified as 8 or 8.5 inch skillets. The silicone wrapped handles mean we don't have to keep a pot holder handy or keep multiple pot holders around while cooking.

Great pan to cook for one.I love that you can use metal utensils in this pan.Very non-stick and cleans up so easily.

Very nice skillet. Scrambled eggs turn out perfectly. Heats evenly, cleans easily, looks nice. Would like the large skillet also. Life is too short to use cheap cookware. i was told that it's best to let nonstick pans cool before washing. Also, do not use non stick spray in these pans, it has a chemical that will leave a "film" that you can not get off.I ruined a pan using the spray and had to buy a new one.

For years, my family and I have labored under the impression that the only good--nay, possible--way to fry an egg are with a perfectly seasoned iron skillet or a traditional frying pan with plenty of butter and/or cooking spray. How wrong we were!

Firstly, the "perfectly seasoned" iron skillet has been to us as elusive as the Northwest Passage was to Captain Cook! We just can't get the pan right. With our high-end stainless pan, all the cooking spray in the world doesn't seem to prevent an egg from sticking and leaving a bonded film behind to clean up.

I have shied away from non-stick cookware for years out of fear that the coatings can peel off and cause all sorts of health issues. With a two year old, we're especially sensitive to this sort of thing.

But after some research, I purchased this 8.5" Circulon skillet. After an initial use, all I can say is YES! The triumph one feels when laying out 2 perfectly cooked, unbroken, over-medium eggs onto a plate is sublime. And this was accomplished with NO cooking spray, butter or oil.Zero.Cleanup? A wipe with a dry paper towel was all it took.

We'll see how it holds up, but so far, I am a huge fan of this little pan. It works great on our induction stove also.

I already had a large circulon pan that I loved, so ordered this smaller size, too. It's just as advertised-needs little to no oil/butter, cooks evenly, and extremely easy to clean.Amazon had the best price I could find.I would definitely recommend this product.

Bakers & Chefs 10" Nonstick Restaurant Fry Pan

Bakers & Chefs 10' Nonstick Restaurant Fry Pan
  • 10" Restaurant Fry Pan
  • Heavy-gauge Aluminum
  • Satin Brushed Natural Aluminum
  • Heavy-Gauge Cast Stainless Steel Shank
  • Removable Silicon Rubber Sleeve

I've just had the skillet a few weeks, but so far it does everything you want a non-stick skillet to do: heats evenly, the non-stick works very well, and cleanup is a breeze...paper towel wipe followed by a hot water rinse, and the outside, which is raw aluminum has stayed surprisingly clean with minimal effort so far. The pan itself isn't expensive, but they always kill you with the shipping. Cheepies, where I got my skillet, is particularly good at nailing you with shipping charges. So I wound up paying a little more than I'd have liked, but I have no complaints with the skillet.

We bought one of these and two 8-inch ones at Sam's about three months ago. These are great!!We cook breakfast once or twice every weekend with them, and this is the best non-stick cookware we've owned.Highly recommended.

Emeril Stainless Steel Fry Pans

Emeril Stainless Steel with Copper Dishwasher Safe 8-Inch Fry Pan, SilverI bought this 8 inch Emeril Stainless fry pan because it was a few dollars cheaper than the 8 inch Emeril Pro-Clad fry pan.Big difference.First off, the aluminum and copper disk on the bottom of this pan looks cheap and does not distribute heat evenly. But the biggest flaw is that the handle is heavier than the rest of the pan making it very difficult to balance on a gas stove top.I couldn't keep it from falling over no matter how I tried.Who is the design wizard that came up with this pan?I sent it back and bought the Pro-Clad version for a few dollars more. The Pro-Clad has three layers of stainless and aluminum all the way up the sides, so heat distributes evenly and the weight and balance are perfect.Much happier now.Not sure if all the Emeril Stainless Fry Pans are handle heavy, but this 8 inch one is a clunker.Don't waste your time or money on this poorly designed pan.

FWIW, I have only used this Emeril 10 inch stainless steel with copper and aluminum and stainless bottom once! That was tonight. This is NOT the Emeril Pro Clad which I have not been able to find in a single fry pan.Since this pan was on sale today at Macy's for $29.99 and even less with coupon, I decided to give it a try.

Even though I am a 'senior citizen', I have never used a stainless fry pan.I read all the reviews for the different brands and read how many people complained of food sticking, difficult clean up, staining, etc.So, I decided to research exactly how to cook with stainless before ever getting any.

So, bought this today and decided to cook pork chops tonight. The instructions that came with the pan are a little different than what I read about how to cook with stainless on line.I followed the on line directions.I first washed the pan and dried it.Allowed my chops to sit out for about 15 minutes to get closer to room temperature and dried them with paper towel before seasoning them.I then turned my electric glass top stove on to medium and allowed the pan to get hot and then added a small amount of evoo to coat. When that began to shimmer, I added my chops and left them alone for about 6 minutes. After 6minutes I gently tried to raise one chop and it came right up as did the other one.I turned them over and left them alone again for another6-7 minutes.I also added chopped onions just after I turned them over.Well, they came out beautifully!Great caramalized onions, nice juicy chops, terrific gravy from the drippings.

Nothing stuck nor burned.I immediately wiped the pan out and filled with hot water and placed back on the same burner to sit while we ate. After dinner I washed it up and noticed just a few spots on the pan where the meat had sat.I used a tiny amount of barkeepers friend on a sponge and wiped it with hot water and it came perfectly clean. No scrubbing. It is nice and shiny just like it was before I used it.

Now if I can do this, I am sure better cooks and even those like me can use this pan with ease.

Also, the handle remained cool to the touch and the pan sat very level on my stove.

The instructions that came with the pan that I DID NOT USE, said to add oil to a cool pan and then heat over medium heat until oil became hot, then add food. When I researched how to cook with stainless steel, I read that you should add oil only to a hot pan, so that is what I did. It worked well for me, so will continue to use that method.

I will now look for the 12 inch pan with lid.If I become disappointed with this pan, I will definitely post an updated review. But, right now I am thrilled with it.

So far I like this pan. It's my first stainless fry pan and am getting the hang of it.I found that pre-heating is key.I preheat for about 5 minutes on med heat (have an older electric stove) before I try to fry or scramble eggs and they don't stick.Only thing I don't like is I feel the handle is just a hair too heavy. When the pan is empty (preheating) it leans just a tiny bit toward the handle and I would think that would reduce effectiveness/evenness of heating.Other than that one thing, I really like the pan.Handle stays cool and it's easy to clean.

there are several things I like about this pan, it's stainless steel, has a copper core and does the job I bought it for. The one problem is that the pan is very light weight, and the handle is nice and heavy, which means that it's very easy to tip while you're cooking. Still, at it's price, I can't really complain.

George Foreman Next Grilleration 4-Burger Grills with Removable Plates

George Foreman GRP4 Next Grilleration 4-Burger Grill with Removable Plates, WhiteWe bought this model after dropping and breaking our inexpensive George Foreman "Champ" grill.

Pros:

The removable grilling plates come off and go on easily, and cleaning them in the sink or dishwasher is a breeze. The base unit doesn't even get dirty!

Non-stick grilling plates are sufficiently large to cook hamburgers for three or four people.

Fat drips into the provided tray with no leaking out the back or sides.

Floating hinges allow varying thicknesses of food to be held tight on the top and bottom.

Total time to cook, once unit is fully heated, is faster than broiling the burgers in our electric oven and the grill uses far less power.

Light enough to hold with one hand, for easy storing.

Unit lacks a thermometer and temperature control, neither of which is needed for most things.Price is lower as a result.

Easy, fast, and inexpensive method to cook many foods (chicken breasts, burgers, hot-dogs, grilled cheese sandwiches, etc.).

Cons:

The first time we used a Grilleration to cook hamburgers, we put them on when the temperature light said the grill was hot (around the 7 minute mark), as per the instructions.Instead of grilling the burgers, it slow-cooked them.We suspected this was happening, since there was no "sizzle" sound while cooking. The worst of it was, the burgers had almost no taste, as though they had been baked.Next time, we let the grill heat up for a full 15 minutes before putting the meat on.The plates got much hotter, and, as a result, the burgers sizzled. They also tasted much better.

Even pre-heating for 15 minutes, this model doesn't get as hot as the less expensive George Foreman Champ model.Further, the plates don't stay as hot during the cooking cycle as the cheaper unit, especially if the grilling plates are covered with food (e.g., 4 hamburgers). This is easily discernable as the "sizzle sound" dies out as the cooking progresses on this model, yet continues to the end on the Champ model. There are two reasons the Champ gets hotter:

1.The Next Grilleration heating coils heat the sealed base unit, and transfers heat to the removable grilling plates, which touch the base unit. The Champ system is more efficient, as its heating coils are bonded directly to the non-removable plates.

2.The 760 watt Champ cooking area is 42 square inches, or 18 watts per sq. inch. The 1000 watt Next Grilleration cooking area is 72 square inches, or 14 watts per sq. inch.(That's 1000 claimed watts.According to a Kill-a-Watt meter, our Grilleration actually draws 955 watts.)

The Grilleration would need to be in the 1400 watt range to cook as hot as the Champ.

Summary:

Foods needing high heat to grill taste better with the hotter operating Champ model.

Champ's cooking area is 42 sq. in. versus 72 sq. in. for the Grilleration.

The Champ is a pain to clean since you can't submerge the base unit, whereas cleaning the Grilleration plates is simple.

Recommendation:

If taste is most important to you, get the Champ model, or, if it's too small, buy two Champs (for less money than one Grilleration).

If ease of cleaning is most important, buy a Grilleration or other [larger] unit with removable grilling plates.

When our small original George Forman gave out I bit the bullet, and decided to spend the money on one with more bells and whistles.GREAT DECISION!My husband uses this almost every day to make a burger, chicken breast, etc.I used it tonight, to make fabulous Tilapia filets which took no time and almost no effort (sprinkle w/ Emril's seasoning and grill for five minutes).THE BEST PART.... REMOVABLE GRILL PLATES!I've put these in the dishwasher and washed by hand.No problem and worlds better than the old model with the fixed plates.I'll use this appliance even more now that clean up is no longer a chore!

Buy George Foreman Next Grilleration 4-Burger Grills with Removable Plates Now

We got one of the original George Foreman grills several years ago as a gift, and it took us a while to actually try it, but once we did, we ended up using it fairly often for hot dogs, hamburgers, and pork chops. It was convenient though clean up was a bit of a hassle.

These new ones solve that problem.

I note the new one seems to take slightly longer to warm up possibly because of the removable plates don't transfer heat from the elements quite as efficiently as ones that are permanently attached, but it's only a couple extra minutes, and once warmed up, it's fine.

Normally I put everything I can in the dishwasher, but I haven't bothered with the plates on this grill yet as they really are very easy to clean with soap and a brush under hot running water.

Another improvement on the newer ones is the hinge allows for thicker meat.We make thick burgers and used to have to flip them front to back to get even cooking this is no longer required.

Overall, it's much nicer to work with than the first one we had.

Update: after six months, it's still working well, and the non stick surface on the cooking plates is still easy to clean without bothering with the dish washer.

I'm a college girl just getting into cooking, and I've made salmon, burgers, and even bacon on this grill. Having someone say "This salmon was seared perfectly!" the first time you've ever made it is a great feeling! You really can't mess up with this thing.

Pros: The removable plates make clean up pretty easy. My burgers come out perfect every time.

Cons: I wouldn't call this non stick. Everything you make leaves something on the grill, and you really need to get scrubbing to get it off the hot plates when you're done (I find scrubbing the grime off the plates when it's hot is a lot easier than waiting for it to cool). It's also hard to clean the crevice where hinges are (but it's an open hinge, so solid thing that aren't sticky usually fall through).

To the reviewer below: The reason why everything comes out scorched is because you HAVE to wipe down the HOT plates with something to clean off the grease from your last batch--if you don't clean it off, it just transfers BURNT to your next one.

I really don't mind the cleaning so much, and the convenience of having a grill in my small apartment to cook on outweigh the cons for me. I certainly couldn't get a charcoal BBQ up and running.. now imagine cleaning that!

Want George Foreman Next Grilleration 4-Burger Grills with Removable Plates Discount?

I owned a first generation George Foreman grill and loved it.When it broke I purchased this one.Unlike my first, this one does not get very hot even after a long wait. The upper unit does not get past warm. The bottom unit will not sear or even cook at a reasonably high heat. The top unit is useless so you have to turn your food to have it cooked on both sides.A fry pan on a stove top does a better job.

My grill went out with my garbage pickup 3 months after I bought it.

DeBuyer Mineral B Element Country Cheff Iron Pan, 9.4-Inch RoundThese pans are amazing!they are the bestcooking items we have discovered lately.Solid, smooth surface cooks evenly... it's almost like a smooth cast iron pan.We are throwing out all of our Scanpans. There is a big draw back though. They are extremely heavy. With some of the larger ones, they are very difficult to handle when trying to hold with one hand to dump/pour and use the spatula with the other.... but they cook very well, just remember to season the pan first.

Very good quality although it is heavy. Wished I had bought a larger-sized pan. I leave the pan on the stove and use it at least thrice per week

An incredible pan. The more you use it the less food is likely to stick. Unlike non stick finishes that tend to flake and must use wood or non-mar utensils, you can use any utensils and still get non-stick performance. The pan retains heat better and can go in the oven if you so desire. The price is more but not when you consider its a pan to last for generations.

Large 2-screw replacement handle for vintage Revere Ware pans

Large 2-screw replacement handle for vintage Revere Ware pansOrdered a replaement handle for an old Revere Ware sauce pan.The product arrived in days, and was perfect...brought new life to an old pan.I was so excited to find this at Amazon and it's worth every penny.I would highly recommend for anyone who owns Revere Ware and has old, cracked handles. The pan in question is like new, and will probably last another 40 years, thanks to this high quality replacement handle.I would definitely use this vendor again, no questions asked!

The good:Acceptable price, and delivered on time.

The not so good:Screw holes did not line up perfectly with the pass-thru holes on the inner metal handle frame.I had to keep one of the screws very loose and then force the other screw thru it's opening by tapping it thru with a punch and hammer. Not a major deal but it shouldn't have needed extra work. Also along the edges where the two handle pieces come together there is a slightly rough edge.Again, not a big deal but another example of a lack of attention to detail/craftsmanship.

Would I buy from this vendor again?Yes, but only if I couldn't find it elsewhere and with similar pricing.

I have 8 Revere pans/pots, purchased in 1953. Although I have many other pans, these are my favorites. While all our family, 7 sons & 1 daughter are married, living in their own homes, with our 29 grandchildren, I enjoy cooking for my husband and myself, guests and family visiting. I ordered 3 replacement handles, small, medium and large, really for the appearance. I used to replace the handles, purchasing new ones at a shop in Sandwich on Cape Cod Massachusetts. That store is gone and I was happy to find handles through Amazon. I ordered the 3 different sizes, expecting that they would fit 3 different pans and I could then judge what sizes to order for the remaining 5 pans. The large and medium handles are the same length, slightly different shape. The small handle Is one half inch shorter.I spent 2 hours this afternoon trying to put one handle on a pan, without success.

The two piece screws were very difficult to put through the 3 holes for the handlesand would not hold together.

I am sure these handles have been sold to other people, who did not have this difficulty. Are my pots and pans, now 60 years old, just more than vintage?Look forward to hearing what someone thinks about my problem.

So when America's Test Kitchen recommended the T-Fal Professional Total Nonstick 12-1/2-Inch Saute Pan, I ran out and got one. It worked great. So when I saw this Paella Pan with the same non-stick surface and red heat button, I picked it up. So far it works the same as the one recommended by America's Test Kitchen. I love the size for those big family meals. The question with all non-stick pans is: how long will it last? But so far, so good.

Art and Cuisine Austral Series Aluminum Ceramic Coated Deep Frypan with Lid, Grey, 11-Inch

Art and Cuisine Austral Series Aluminum Ceramic Coated Deep Frypan with Lid, Grey, 11-InchA friend of mine bought an Art & Cuisine pan but it was a different model. He really liked it so I figured I was safe in trying to find a nice pan of the same brand for my father for Christmas. Out of the box the handle was loose. We tightened it a little and it was fine. Then my brother prepared some bacon in the pan. I watched him like a hawk: he didn't have the heat up too high and only used the silicone utensils I got specifically for this pan. Before cleaning the pan, my brother let it cool completely. He then used a wet paper towel with a bit of soap to clean it out. The ceramic chipped. We treated it very gently and it still chipped. Also, the handle got loose again. I was really hoping that this would be a great pan for my dad, but sadly it wasn't. We returned it.
