Calphalon Tri-ply Stainless Steel 8-Inch Omelette Pan

Calphalon Tri-ply Stainless Steel 8-Inch Omelette PanPROS:

+ Beautiful design

+ Excellent heat conduction

+ Stay cool handles

+ Stains and discoloration easily cleaned with Bar-Keeper's Friend cleanser

+ Dishwasher safe

+ Have not had problems with food sticking

+ Excellent price

CONS:

None that I can think of!

I've been using my Calphalon Tri-Ply stainless for several years now and absolutely love it! It seems to perform as well as my sister's All Clad stainless but cost significantly less. Heat conduction is excellent (try simply running hot tap water into a pan or pot with your hand on the bottomin no time at all it's too hot to hold without a potholder that's good conduction). I rarely have a problem with food sticking to the pan. I did get a fantastic tip that to prevent food from sticking, heat the pan first and then add your oil (or margarine/butter)it does seem to work! I definitely recommend the Calphalon Tri-Ply Stainless, particularly if you're attracted to All Clad but can't stand the thought of shelling out that kind of money for cookware.

My dad got sick of the non-stick coating wearing off and getting scratched so he asked for a good non-stick pan and is very happy with his Christmas gift.

This is a great pan, as a stainless. It does not do omelets well, but then I would not expect that from a stainless pan.It is obviously well built out of premium stainless. It's very sturdy in every way, including the handle.I like that it is all stainless, including the handle, because it allows me to put it in the oven.I'm careful putting it in the oven, of course, and I keep the temp below 400, although I think it can go a little higher.I'm also careful to not overheat it on the stove.I know it can be washed in the dishwasher, but I always wash it by hand, to avoid discoloration or patina damage from chemicals.I bought it for life, which is why I think it is worth the care.I also bought the 10 inch version, which is just as good.I have other Calphalon cookware pieces, and they are all of excellent quality, including the non-stick surfaces on some of them.

I have used a set of Calphalon non-stick pans formaybe 8 years. For a while they were good, but then started to loose their non-stick finish.I believe I followed the instructions for use and care properly. I can't help but wonder if the family and I have been eating bits and pieces over the years yuck!Anyway they finally got to where they aren't non-stick any more and are very difficult to clean.

I started replacing them by purchasing the Tri-ply Stainless 8 inch pan.Wow!!!Seems almost more non-stick than the non-stick pans, very even heating, easy to clean.I think if there was one negative, it would be keeping it as shiny and new looking as when it was purchased, but so far that has not been a problem either.I absolutely plan to begin replacing my whole collection with this series.

By the way, I also looked as some other options such as All Clad these are cheaper and my guess would be that these are at least as good, and the Kirkland from Costco much cheaper, possibly not quite as quality made, but mostly there is a limited selection of items.

All in all, a great pan ( the whole line is good ), and I definitely recommend them to others where I may not have recommended the older non-stick.

Emeril Stainless Steel Dishwasher Safe Stockpot with Glass Lid Cookware, Silver

Emeril by All-Clad E8849964 Chef's Stainless Steel Saucepan Dishwasher Safe 3-Quart Sauce Pan with Lid Cookware, Silverperfect size for spaghetti, or a nice pot of soup or stew and it goes in the dishwasher if you want to clean up easily

As another reviewer has pointed out here, this All Clad Emeril is very much lighter in construction than regular All Clad or even All Clad Emerilware of yore. Some years ago I ordered an Emeril All Clad cook set, all items have heft and each has a good heavy base.I suppose costs have skyrocketed in stainless manufacture, but the lightness of this pot came as a surprise to me even after reading the other reviewer's comment about it.Nonetheless, this is a big stockpot, a lot of metal, and it does just what I want it to do.In this pot, finally, when 19" spaghetti is introduced to the boil it stands on end without my assistance. That's enough for me. Thanks, Emeril and thanks, All Clad.

I was looking for a stainless steel pan that heats evenly.I have found it.I like the fact that it is not real deep, too.It makes a great omelet.I also love that it is completely immersible.

I purchased this stainless steel skillet for the same reason as most people I was tired of the non-stick coatings wearing out.I kept buying and buying new non-stick skillets until I came across this stainless steel model. And I just love it.

It cooks fairly evenly (nothing is perfect) and is super easy to keep brand new clean.

The only problem I have is with the control. It is VERY difficult to pull it out.I mean I pull with all my might to get the darn thing out so I can wash the skillet.I'm a 6' 200lb male in very good shape so that isn't the problem.

Does anyone else have this issue?I love the pan, but I can't believe it is supposed to be this hard to remove the control. With that said I still whole heartedly recommend this skillet.

Rachael Ray Porcelain Enamel II Nonstick Cookware Set, 10-Piece

Rachael Ray Porcelain Enamel II Nonstick 10-Piece Cookware Set, Orange Gradient ()They cook evenly. Pretty sturdily made with with rivets and they are lightweight without being flimsy. Easy to clean. Bottom of pans did not distort when heated. The padded handles for the lids and the pots are a sort of rubber or silicone which make for easy gripping and are cool to the touch (especially for the lids unlike metal handles). The colors are fun. The color is a an orange gradient that mutes the brightness of the orange color.

Why not a five star rating? I would like to see the layer of non-stick material to be thicker for more durability, but note that the pots and pans do come with a lifetime guarantee.

Good value for the money.

Also, note that these pots are not recommended for glass top stoves (per manual) as the ceramic bottom of the cookware could melt to the glass top.

()An attractive cookware set that covers the basics. The well-made pans offer a good cooking foundation, but are a little too lightweight.

I've been cooking elaborately for years and have used a wide variety of kitchen gear.Like most seasoned cooks, I have my favorite pans and pan-types, and habits in how I use them.I was pleased to see several of my "usual" sizes included in this set, including the 3qt saute pan, the 6qt dutch-oven style stockpot, and the 10" skillet. The 2qt saucepan is adequate, though I usually prefer a 2.5qt.The sides of the saute pan are high enough to stir a thick pasta sauce, the stockpot has a wide enough base to allow meat to brown.

The one omission is a heavy-bottomed 12" skillet, something I use regularly for frying and searing.

Less useful is the 1qt saucepan-there's not much I'd make in a 1qt that wouldn't be fine in the 2qt, and the 8.5" skillet is too small to be useful-it's fine if you want to fry an egg, or saute garlic (or a single shallot) separately, but I prefer to do that in the larger pan with the rest of the ingredients, the better to meld the flavors (and to have fewer dishes to wash). Most things that you would sear, toast, or saute will benefit from being in contact with the pan's cooking surface, making a small surface area less useful. But four (out of 6) useful pans is a much better ratio than most sets.

Caveats:Unlike my Calphalon pans, the handles on these are only rated oven-safe to 350F (rather than a more useful 450-500F ceiling). After 3 months use on a glass-top electric range, the 10" skillet (the piece I've been using most) has dark mars on the bottom (bad if you hang/display your pans).

The largest caveat is that these pans are entry-level thin. They do heat up quickly, but the thinness makes them bad for cooking dishes where the pan temperature needs to stay low-but-even, or where you're going to be adding cold items to the hot pan (eg, searing-these are far too thin to retain heat when you plop down a New York Strip).

For the beginner cook who doesn't have their own preferences or existing collection, this is a nice set to get them started, and it look nice too-a good choice for a gift. This 10-piece set is a bit expensive (versus other entry-level sets) and has a couple of "filler" pieces, but is a well-rounded package.Recommended with caveats.

UPDATE NOV 2012: These pans continue to hold up surprisingly well after a year of solid usage, and I've grown increasingly fond of them, so increasing my rating from 4 stars to 5 stars. The outer surfaces have gotten discolored/stained from such regular usage but the interiors remain flawless, and I find I reach for these pans more often than some of my heavier old-school pans.

I have had this set for almost a year.We use them every day. They look beautiful hanging in my kitchen and they just make cooking a little more fun. They have held up perfectly.I have a glass top stove so I was a little concerned when I read in the manual that they arent ideal for that type of stove, but I have never had an issue.

They are light in weight, but not in durability. They clean up easily and beautifully.I have used an SOS pad on the outside and it doesnt scratch. I have also found them in the dishwasher when my children have to clean the kitchen and they have remained scratch free. They actually look almost as good as the day I bought them!I am now ordering sets for my friends for Christmas!

I used some points from my credit card company to purchase this cookware set but wasn't completely sold on the orange color. A year later I am so glad that I didn't let the color keep me from getting this set. The one downside is that they are not dishwasher safe. On the other hand the nonstick works so well that it is effortless to wash these by hand. I have made sure to use utensils that won't scrach the coating, but these work great for everyday use. In the very distant future if I have to replace this set, I will definately buy again.

I received this set in green for Christmas this past year from my husband. I have some other RR products and I really liked them so he thought he was picking a good gift for me, however he didn't know they would leak! The pans leak where they are riveted together at the handle. Every time I make something in them it leaks out. It also happens when I wash them. (I know you can put them in the dishwasher, but I never put pots and pans in the dishwasher!)I was really disappointed in the quality of the item. I would have returned them, but before I used them I through the box and all the invoices away. I guess I learned to keep all receipts!

Revere Copper Bottom Teakettle

Revere 2-1/3-Quart Whistling Tea KettleIn the market for a good tea kettle? Then look no further.

When the time came for me to get a tea kettle, this was the one I looked for.I grew up with this one in the house, and it's just as great for my needs.Ok, being single, 3.5 quarts may be a bit bigger then I normally use, but I just add as much water as I need and set it on the stove. The water heats quickly.Steam sets off a whistle in the spout, and it can be heard with ease in any part of the house.

I looked at other Revere kettles, but found their handles and spout openers to be rather flimsy. Not so, here. This kettle will last for quite awhile.

As always, Revere has made a wonderful product. It's so easy, even this bachelor has no problem heating water.

I grew up with this kettle in the '60s and '70s. When it came time to furnish my first apartment after college in the early '80s, this is the kettle I bought for myself. Ten years later in preparation for a cross-country move, I gave it away as part of an effort to lighten my load, figuring such a classic warhorse design would be easy to replace once I'd settled in to my new location.

BIG MISTAKE.

After the designer kettle I received as a housewarming gift finally broke a couple of years ago, I was looking forward to going back to my old friend from Revereware. The kettle I bought boiled water just fine, but when it came time to pour that boiling water, it dribbled all over the counter, and all over whatever was on the counter.

Turns out there was a faulty seam where the spout attached to the kettle. I figured I had been unlucky and gotten a lemon, put up with this for awhile, then decided that I shouldn't have to and bought myself another one. Same problem all over again.

Revereware, I give up. You've lost me. I am very disappointed, not least because your old kettle was a star performer, well-designed and durable. But I give up. The angry feeling I got every time I tried to pour myself a nice cup of tea and dribbled boiling water all over the place just isn't worth it, loyalty and nostalgia notwithstanding.

(If anyone is interested, after much searching I decided that the Farberwear Tiburon 2.5 quart kettle was the best replacement. It's not perfect, but it's the best I could find and after several months of use I bought a second, on the learned-it-the-hard-way theory that you can no longer rely on a good product still being available when you need a replacement.)

Buy Revere Copper Bottom Teakettle Now

The Revere Teakettle was once an icon. Once!

I grew up with it. I bought it as an adult several times.

I just bought one again in late 2009 to replace one I dropped

by accident and broke the trigger.

The new one was definitely of cheaper manufacturing. The metal

seemed thinner. Reading the box I notice that they now produce

it in China. Nothing wrong w/ China, but the manufacturing of

this tea kettle sucked. Within a week this new Revere Teakettle

started leaking along the bottom rim joint.

Contacting customer service a Revere's website resulted in zero response.

Too bad. It's a great design, but doesn't work

When I became hooked on tea, I knew I had to get a kettle. I didn't want to spend a lot of money, but I wanted something more than heating up some water in a small saucepot on the stove. After browsing the reviews for a while, I decided upon this kettle, and have been pretty happy so far.

Copper is basically the best conducting material available. The copper bottom makes heating up a few cups of water a breeze, which is nice when I'm in a bit of a rush in the morning. The downside is that because it's priced at about 20 bucks, something had to be forfeited.

When you pick it up, it's easy to see what it is. The stainless steel is a very thin, fragile, metal. Although the one handed mechanism is kind of handy for pouring, the handle can get a little hot if you're not used to it.

All in all, it's a safe buy, but not a best (or must) buy. There are better kettles out there, but I got what I expected and it works great for what I use it for.

Want Revere Copper Bottom Teakettle Discount?

I previously had the larger Revere kettle and loved it; quick to heat the water, a good loud whistle, clean pouring, etc. When it finally wore out, I went to get a new one but this 2 quart one was the only available size. Big mistake. This kettle spits out large amounts of boiling water while whistling (there's no way you can fill it to the 2 quart level; half would go all over your stovetop or, much worse, over yourself), and dribbles hot water down the base while you pour. The whistle works, at least. But it's really not a safe kettle and, as I said, I was a big fan of the Revere kettles.

13-inch Krampouz Tibos Electric Crepe Maker

13-inch Krampouz Tibos Electric Crepe MakerAfter 6 months of Sunday Crepe breakfasts for the family I now regularly get excellent Crepes (almost) with this Crepe maker without resorting to the professional Krampouz. As usual you have to practice, practice, practice.

Here are a few recommendations:

Ditch the plastic crepe helper. It's similar to the foaming helpers in Espresso machines, it gets total novices over the initial contact hump but quickly stops you from making any decent progress with the product (Crepe). The tool creates a messy experience and creates uneven crepes.

Second ditch the scraper. It's very hard to get good crepes if you prefer the very liquid kind of dough (which I like). Instead get a round Birchwood scraper. They tend to be larger as well ( 8 inches or so). The round surface allows you to evenly spread the dough ( AMAZON sells them )

Third ditch the spatula. It's simply to short. If you make a real crepe, a really thin crepe the provided spatula will just pierce through the crepe when you lift it to turn or take off the crepe maker. I got a 23 inch Birchwood spatula and am very happy with it.

Fourth: There is no magic to crepe if you follow my advice, use this great crepe maker and practice, practice, practice. I use a simple crepe recipe. You need to play with the temperature and times a bit. My crepes are done within 50s on the first side and 30s for the other side. Experiment and watch videos on the internet.

I bought this in July 2009 for a Bastille Day party it was a huge hit!I practiced a few days before the party and couldn't have been happier.Thought it was a little pricey, but has proven to be worth every cent.Fist crepe or two will be a mess, but just keep trying.MAJOR improvement from just using a frying pan.The flat surface allows you tomake larger and thinner crepes. We do not use the pre-measured well or scoop. We do use the wooden tools that are included and that is all you need, I just pour an amount in the middle and can eyeball the correct amount. Then I quickly spread with the wooden t-shaped tool to spread the batter evenly.Watch YouTube videos of crepe making to get the process down.We do not grease our surface before cooking b/c I use a recipe from the internet that contains melted butter and nothing ever sticks. This item cooks EVENLY and I use setting 3 for my crepes other setting cook to fast for me.I do not use the included recipe book, but they do look good.I typically make my mix in the blender and it keeps for 48 hours, allowing me to whip out a crepe for breakfast and dinner 2 days in a row.I also like to cook one side, then flip, then crack an egg on top of the cooked side, let it cook for 1 or 2 minutes, then flip again and add cheese with enough time to melt and then fold and serve.Got this idea from YouTube video of a pro crepe maker.Ignore videos of crepe makers that are not on the street cooking crepes in front of customers the other videos are a huge waste of time!Long and short of it GREAT investment for your kitchen!!I even take mine on vacation to the beach!Enjoy!

I have used this product twice and I am very impressed with the uniform cooking of this Crepe maker. The large 13" nonstick surface makes perfect crepes everytime... no more throwing out the first crepe! The plactic spreading device makes it easy to evenly spread the batter for beginners. The crepe maker is much more substantial than the picture shows, in my opinion.I found the suggested thermostat settings a little too hot causing the crepes to brown too quickly but, after lowering the temperature, I was knocking out multiple banana/Nutella crepes in a matter of minutes. The results are much more like the crepes I got in Paris than ones I've made in a crepe pan.

Ever since a first visit to France, we've been trying to find the perfect home crepe maker and for us this is it. The directions are very specific and should be followed to the T, with one exception: the included measuring cup for batter is not quite big enough and a touch (maybe about 2-3 Tbsp.) more batter needs to be used for each crepe. Also, when you start the spreading action, it tells you that it needs to be completed in 4 seconds and this is true! You must be really quick. Our favorites are strawberries and nutella and for savory, fried egg (which can be done right on the crepe maker prior to making your crepe), spinach, mushrooms and shredded cheese.

We run a mobile crêpe cart that uses commercial 15" propane grilles. Not suitable for indoor use, obviously, so we bought two of these for catering and doing indoor events. We have made hundreds of crêpes on our indoor grilles.

These machines make crêpes that are a little smaller, and getting the temp right takes a couple of tries, but they make good crêpes.

We use a 4oz ladle as the ladle that comes with it about 3oz, does not really put down enough batter for our taste.

We have a can of commercial canola oil spray that we use to keep the crêpes from sticking, as after a while, as with most non-stick, it does wear off a bit.Try and get a spray that is just oil (hardd to do in the supermarket).

Each one uses about as much power as a hair dryer, so make sure you have a circuit that can handle that amount.

Pros -

can use indoors

make a reasonable size crepe

does not have a ridge so you can easily flip the crêpe in the proper fashion.

Cons

A little touchy to get the temperature right at first, but after that they seem to stay about the right temp.

The numbers on the heat control have completely worn off after a number of washings. Since they are not really temps, just numbers, eyeballing the control works as well.

I agree with the other reviewers, get a round dowel type spreader and a longer spatula, and practice.

bon appetit

Bodum Chambord Enameled Cast Iron Grill Pan, White

Bodum Chambord Enameled Cast Iron Grill Pan, WhiteWe are very happy with both the looks and the performance of this pan. It leaves gorgeous grill marks on veggies, meat, etc.

It needs to be washed and oiled and it is heavy so it requires more maintenance than your average pan. It is worth the investment.

Just got this cast-iron grill pan and have already made amazing steaks and grilled veggies. Leaves beautiful grill marks on everything. This pan is extremely heavy and is of great quality. Takes a bit of effort for clean up and maintenance, but worth it for the food it cooks up.

The pan looks nice, the box it high quality and makes you feel liek you bought a good product. Then I opened it and pulled it out and the handle was all wobbly right out of the box. Not sure what happened there, but it might explain why a good brand name product was so cheap. Not sure if returning it is worth it considering how much shipping costs since the pan it so heavy, but I hate the wobbly handle. It probably wont be long until it breaks off completely.

Lodge Enamel 11-inch Skillet

Lodge Color EC11S33 Enameled Cast Iron Skillet, Caribbean Blue, 11-inchI've had this pan for several months now and had previously been used to frying with regular cast iron or stainless steel. I have a flat top stove and am not supposed to use my cast iron on it so I thought I would try this one instead. I've found that the interior is better than stainless steel for cooking certain things (like over-easy eggs) with a simple clean-up and minimal sticking. It's also good for reheating left-over meals, or making pancakes.

However, when I tried cooking things like sausage, or stir-fry meat, or with any sauces that contained sugar, I ended up with charred bits that would not come off. I tried boiling the pan with vinegar, or scouring gently with baking soda and nothing works. I did of course follow the directions and have never cooked on any setting above medium (usually, I use medium low). Then I made the mistake of frying falafel in the pan. I now have a permanent layer of caramelized oil on the bottom of my pan. Add the two chips on the handle that came off within the first week of use (and I am extremely gentle with this pan), and I would have to say I am fairly disappointed.

I also own the Lodge Enamel 6 quart dutch oven, and that item is fabulous. Not a chip or stain on it, even though I use it extensively. Also, I have fried up some of the same things in the dutch oven as the fry pan with no sticking/stains in the dutch oven, but with permanently charred bits in the fry pan. Lodge should have made this one with the glossy interior.

Perhaps I'll replace this one with the 3 quart covered casserole since it has the glossy interior.

Browns nicely, very nonstick, easy cleanup.I was surprised that the inside was a matte enamel finish that is not smooth like the the inside of the dutch oven .It works just great though. The other good news is that the lid from the 6 quart dutch oven fits it perfectly.Lodge Enamel on Cast Iron 6 Quart Dutch Oven, Caribbean Blue

Now one down side is that this thing is heavy as hell.Without the helper handle it would be very awkward to lift unless you are built like Arnold Schwarzenegger (at least how he used to be built). This isn't for your grandmother (unless she is a weightlifter).

An update. We have had absolutely no sticking problems. We cooked a salmon dish last night with a sauce that had some sugar in it.No problems (and absolutely delicious BTW) .A chicken dish with ricotta, the other day, worked great.I use a little higher heat, up to medium high, then slow it down to medium when browning.Let the food release before flipping.

No soaking, no scrubbing, just the plastic thing (on the other side of the kitchen sponges, can't think of the name), hot water, dish soap and almost no elbow grease.

I'd say it is a bargain. We have mostly Calphalon in our kitchen but are using this extensively. It looks good too.

Buy Lodge Enamel 11-inch Skillet Now

Pretty good pan.A lot easier to maintain and keep clean than a traditional cast iron pan.The "white enamel" style fry pans are more non-stick than this with liquid items like eggs. The "satin enamel" finish in this one, which is a rough cast iron type finish with a dark gray enamel coating, tends to stick less on solid items like steak and bacon.

So you may use a little more fat in this pan than in one of the ones using a smooth bottom white enamel style, which all of the other Lodge pans use.

This type of finish is also going to be a lot harder to scratch or scrape with tools, and wont show a scratch as much.

If you're going to cook cornbread and scrambled eggs 95% of the time...I might consider one of the white smooth enamel bottom. If you're going to sear a lot of meats and dont mind using a bit of fat with your cornbread or eggs, this will work great and you cant beat the price.

When I received this pan the inside enamel was very rough. I knew this would be the case based on other reviews so it was not a shocker. On first use, there was barely any sticking. However when trying to dry the pan after washing, I notice the rough texture was causing paper towel and terry towel "bits" to get left behind on the pan. So I decided to "season" the pan. Best decision ever.

My process (as described by another reviewer)

1. Pre-heat the pan (to a low temp in oven or on stovetop), just barely hot to the touch

2. Thin coat of canola oil rubbed onto the pan

3.Put pan back on stovetop and turn the heat to medium (maybe slightly over)

4. Once pan starts to smoke, turn down the heat slightly and let it continue to smoke for 15 minutes

5. Let the pan cool, rub it down with a dry paper bowl

6. Repeat process until smooth finish

The pan is now flawless

This is a decent pan but it's not a substitute for real (i.e. seasoned) cast iron. I have a halogen smooth top cooking surface which I generally love, however it's not compatible with traditional cast iron skillets. True cast iron has two important properties, it's non-stick and it's indestructible, this pan lacks both of those features. Instead of having a seasoned cast iron cooking surface it has a rough enamel coat which isn't any less sticky than stainless steel and it's much less durable. The coating is as delicate as teflon, the instructions say to use silicone instead of steel tools with it, and not to put the pan in a dishwasher. So far cleanup with a sponge and water has been fine, however I've been very careful not to burn anything onto the pan. We all know that burning something is inevitable, with stainless steel and true cast iron you can use steel wool to clean up the worst mess, I wouldn't dare try that with this pan. I've also found that heat distribution isn't quite as even as it is with good stainless (i.e the sandwich bottom type).

As far as I can tell nobody makes a proper smooth-top compatible cast iron pan, i.e. a flat enameled bottom and a seasoned cast iron interior. I don't know why this is so hard, but if someone were to sell a pan like that I'd buy it in a second.

Paula Deen Cookware Sets

Paula Deen Stainless Steel 12 Piece Cookware SetI bought a 13 piece set in charcoal at Sam's club back in January of 2009 for $75 (last one left so it was discounted) can't go wrong with that.So far the set has held up nicely even after going through the dishwasher a few times through no fault of my own. I read that some people put their RED pots through the dishwasher and that they lost their shine. That did not not occurred with my set at all! The instructions say to hand cleaned only which is what you should do to all non-stick pots and pans. Putting non-stick pots and pans in the dishwasher will cause the teflon to break down over time. Here is a list of some other pots/pans that are NOT for the dishwasher because it will cause discoloraton: Hard-Anodized Aluminum, Porcelain Enamel-exterior, Copper bottom, Plain Aluminum.

These pots are suitable for solid plate, glass/ceramic, radiant ring, halogen and gas stoves. The thing I did learn was not to put a hot pan/pot on a cold glass burner. I have been doing it for years and I never had a problem but after reading that they can become fused to the burner I will stop doing that. The non-stick surface they use in these pots/pans is called Polytetrafluoroethylene which is another fancy name for "teflon". My only concern is that they say on their instructions that decorative pan bottoms may not conduct heat evenly on glass/ceramic stovetop's. I find this strange since the bottoms are decorative and they indicated that they can be used on Ceramic stoves.

I just want to let everyone know I have tested out the pots/pans for quite a few months now. They heat evenly and fast with NO warping, clean up is a breeze and handles stay cool to touch. I absolutely love these pots/pans and they seem to be holding up nicely so far. I know these pots/pans are not very heavy but it makes handling them easier. I have owned heavier pots/pans and when filled with food it was like lifting weights. Not good for people with arthritis in their hands. The only negative I see is that they need to offer more of these pieces individually without having to buy a whole set.

Let me just add after everything I read about these pots/pans it seems to me that people are having the most problems with the red set.It seems that the finish will crack, lose its shine, and the color will run if you accidently put them in the dishwasher. That did not occur with my charcoal set at all.So be careful as to which set color you order.

UPDATE: 12/19/10 I still have the set and in January it will be 2 years. The set has held up and still looks almost new. No peeling, cracking or discoloration. I use it almost every day unless I don't feel like cooking. So for the price I paid I did get my money's worth.

I bought this set to replace our 13 year old set and have no issues with them so far. Maybe it was my old set but water seems to boil alot quicker with these which is always a help. The main feature that drew us to this set is rubber handles.Alot of the newer stuff has metal handles or mostly metal with a little rubber. We wanted something that we do not need to use a pot holder to move the pots without burning ourselves.

Be sure to read the care instructions; can't not be placed in dishwasher, do not use cooking spray, do not use metal utensils etc...)Not an issue for us but some may be put off by this.

I bought the set about four months ago and after infrequent use on two of the saucepans, maybe once or twice a week, the red rubber coating started to bubble up and flake off, like old paint. I usually handwash, but now the handles have spots where you can see the black plastic underneath. Th pans are still usuable, but looks terrible and that is the reason I bought the cookware, because I loved the way it looked. Calling the Customer Relations number for the supposed lifetime warranty service only gets you to a recording with an address to ship the cookware back for their INSPECTION. If they deem you did nothing wrong, they may send you a replacement. The postage for the pans would be about half of what it would cost to buy a new ones. But, I don't plan on buying any more Paula Deen products.

These pots and pans are not only beautiful, the are extremely wonderful to use. Although they aren't dishwasher recommended, they're a breeze to clean. They were much more expensive in stores, so if you're going to buy them, I highly recommend Amazon.

I like Paula Deen, but I haven't been overly excited about these chefs coming out with their own cookware. My husband, however, cannot stand Paula. So when he saw I had bought her pans it was inevitable I got some snickers and snide remarks.

I was surprised when he came back a week later and said he LOVES the pans. They are heavy, but not too heavy, but most importantly they cook very evenly. He also likes how the pans edges curves out a bit; and quite frankly they're very pretty. Red isn't really a color either of us are overly fond of, but these pans look so sharp hanging from our pot/pan rack.

I did not take away any stars for it not being dishwasher safe. Being that it is nonstick I expected that it would not be dishwasher safe. Good product for a reasonable price.

Matfer Bourgeat Black Steel Frying Pan, 9-1/2" dia.

Matfer Bourgeat Black Steel Frying Pan, 9-1/2' dia.Hard to season these pans and even harder to keep it seasoned. I tried all recommended methods. You have to spend hours, and numerous times to really achieve a black surface. Then it is good, but for couple of months. Then black patina starts to peel away. I assume heat control is important, but different receipes require different heat intensity. I definetely prefer cast iron over these. One more negative, food and oil gets stuck at handle point-not very higene.

Now positivesgood heat retention, it feels sturdy in hand.

I always wanted to try a carbon steel pan and chose this one. Initially I was disappointed due to its small size...with this 9.5" size for example, there may not be enough flat bottom to sear an average ribeye. I ended up ignoring it for 5 years and only recently rediscovered it since I started making Nicoise salads with seared tuna lately.

I couldn't go hot enough in my nonstick pan for a good sear on the tuna and didn't feel like dealing with cast iron for a single piece of fish. I remembered this pan and tried it...perfect. This size pan size is good for a single1.25" tuna steak. I get the pan really really hot and get a great sear everytime. 2 minutes per side is usually perfect for nice rare/med red center.

This pan is heavy and solid. It's also easy to clean due to the welded handle, trust me, YOU WANT THE WELDED HANDLE. You don't want to be cleaning around 3 rivets. I never bothered trying to season this pan like the other reviewer. I simply use a scotch pad on it afterwards and wash it with soapy water. I've also washed it in the dishwasher with no problems either...I just being sure to make sure it completely dry before puting it away.

I plan to buy the next size up for cooking larger cuts of meat. All in all though, this is a very nice pan for a quick sear on a smaller piece of meat.

Strauss Green Cuisine 8 Inch Skillet with Non Stick Ceramic Coating

Strauss Green Cuisine 8 Inch Skillet with Non Stick Ceramic CoatingI've been using these pans, of various sizes, since March of 2011. I have a 10" skillet that I use every day to make eggs; it has no scratches or dents, and the coating is still as good as the day I received it. I purposely refrained from writing this review any sooner, because I have used several non-stickpans whose coating wore out rather rapidly. That has not been my experience with these pans at all.

Almost nothing sticks to it. Every now and then, if I cook the heck out of bacon or a burger, a little bit of something will require a teeny bit of rubbing to loosen it, but that's about it; for the most part, wipe it with a paper towel and it will look like it just came out of the dishwasher. I usually wash it by hand; takes two seconds. I have put it into the dishwasher, and have noticed no ill effects, but I don't know if that would take a toll over time.

I have tried many non-stick Teflon pans. (I won't use Teflon except in an "emergency.") This is the first and only one that is worth the moniker "non-stick," that wears well, cleans easily, and seems to have no real vices. The only negative I have found is that the handles sometimes need tightening. (I intend to replace the screw that holds the handle in place with an allen head so I can tighten it down properly. If it works, I will edit this review to include the size screw and where to get it. Hopefully the manufacturer will do it before me.) The other side of that coin is that, because of the way the handle attaches, the inside of the pan is perfectly smooth, with no protruding rivets or screw heads. In my opinion, this pan deserves to become the standard by which other non-stick pans are judged.

MyCuisina is OK as far as delivery and their customer service, but their packaging is, or at least used to be, pretty amateur. Every pan I have received has nonetheless been in fine shape, but I would not be the least bit surprised if the problem the other reviewer experienced is a result of MyCuisina's poor packaging.

In short, if you're looking for a good non-stick pan that is not Teflon, in my opinion, this is the one you want.

I bought this because I own the wok version of this pan and love it.The wok has performed well for several months without losing its nonstick qualities, however this pan was only nonstick for about 2 weeks. After 2 weeks it is sticking like a cheap regular pan and I literally have to scrub food off of it.I am so disappointed.I don't understand the inconsistency in quality. This is definitely going back.

I received this skillet with two chips in the bottom of the skillet.Looked more like the skilled was not properly coated during production rather then damage. For the amount I paid I expected the ceramic coating to be more substantial. However, after looking at the skillet and feeling the coating it is extremly thin. This is not a $43 skillet but a $15 dollar one.I'm returning mine to Amazon for a refund.I will try the Cuisinart Green Gourmet skillet.

11.5" Chefel Double Sided Pressure Pan

11.5' Chefel Double Sided Pressure PanI make some types food that involves frying both sides evenly. This pan has made it very easy for me.

There are two problems with the design, two pans are not separable which makes washing difficult, and oily stuff comes of the hole at the back of the pan and it makes stove dirty. Except for this minor problems, this pan is very well built and the quality is good.

Nothing sticks. Easy to wash. Uses less electricity because the weight of the pan makes things cook quickly and get nice and crispy, never greasy. Remember to only cook with butter or lard. Vegetable oil causes cancer; when heated it turns to trans fat.

Very impressed with the cookware. It is all they say it is. Only complaint is they lead you to believe they are manufactured in Germany. When you get them , they say they were developed in Germany, but of course like everything else they are manufactured in the sweat-houses of china.

All-Clad Brushed Stainless D5 13-Inch French Skillet with Loop Handle and Domed Lid

All-Clad Brushed Stainless D5 13-Inch French Skillet with Loop Handle and Domed LidThis is quite simply the best pan I have ever used.Beautifully crafted stainless steel, I don't know if it is worth $200, but if any pan is, this is it! One thing worth noting is that this isa very heavy pan, it is a little difficult for my wife to handle with one hand when fully loaded, so if this is a concern, you may want to look for a slightly smaller version.

I wanted them to replace their non-stick unhealthy skillet so we got them this. They have an old gas burner stove-top and the flame is pretty narrowly spaced so I was concerned that the 3-layer pan wouldn't heat even;y. Sounds like this one does heat evenly for them.

I have only rated it 4 stars so far simply because i haven't used it yet.I was super excited to receive it yesterday and wanted to cook something right away, but the girlfriend and i ended up going to Chipotle.Anyways, i'll tell you my first impressions.First off, it is super heavy.I played college football, and i have a tough time holding it even when it is empty and doesn't have the lid on it.I will gladly adapt to the weight of it cause i think it'll perform well. However, the weight and construction i think will be a testament to the durable quality of it. It has a lifetime warranty that i doubt it will need.It comes with instructions on how to use it, clean it, etc.. and i plan on following them so i can have this thing forever. But like i said, it is really heavy so if you are a 90 pound grandma, i recommend against buying this item. Can't wait to use it!!
