Strauss Green Cuisine 8 Inch Stainless Steel Skillet with Non Stick Ceramic Coating

Strauss Green Cuisine 8 Inch Stainless Steel Skillet with Non Stick Ceramic CoatingI wanted to find a skillet that was not cheap and peeling with the non-stick surface fast AND stainless steel [since I don't use aluminum]

Thisis the "IT" skillet for eggs. The ceramic finish releases easily.

Don't turn the temperature up to high to cook eggs anda tip I read long ago ---use a drop or two of Tabasco to make the eggs hold together betterplus, any other seasonings---then, wash easily and use again the next A.M.

Great invention by the Germans once again!

I bought it because the description said it was made in Germany (and for the price it should have been!), but it is made in China. It is heavier than most department store skillets (that should be a good thing). The third time I used this skillet a brownish area started to appear on the non-stick surface -it wouldn't come off with normal scrubbing, and it grew each time I used the skillet.I finally quit using it.Can't say I'd recommend this item even at a much reduced price.

RSVP Universal Pot/Pan Lid Fits 7-12" Replacement Stainless Steel w/Glass Insert

RSVP Universal Pot/Pan Lid Fits 7-12' Replacement Stainless Steel w/Glass InsertThe reason I got this is because I have two saute pans that did not come with lids.Sometimes, I want to turn off the stove but cover the saute pan so that heat is trapped in.The manufacturer of this lid makes several claims suggesting the lid would work well for my purposes. They characterize it as a "universal lid."They say that the lid specifically fits "saute pans" that have a diameter of 7" to 12".They also claim the "inner ridges provide a customized fit."These claims are misleading. After trying out the lid, I now realize that most saute pans, including mine, have a handle that extends upward -higher than the plane of the rim.So when you attempt to rest a wide lid like this on the rim of the pan, the handle is in the way.It will never lie flat.So for my 8" saute pan, this lid is pretty much worthless. My 10" saute pan is big enough so that the lid ALMOST rests flat on the rim.So if you have a saute pan that is more than 10", it might work for you.

By the way, the lid is very flat. The "ridges" really don't seem to change anything in that regard. It's also thin and light. The manufacturer claims the lid is 18/10 stainless steel. That may be, but it is a thin 18/10 stainless steel.I have mostly KitchenAid and All-Clad cookware made of 18/8 or 18/10 stainless steel.I don't consider the stainless steel in this lid to be like my cookware. The quality here is more comparable to the inexpensive pots and pans that you find in department stores.Aside from that, the lid seems to be structurally sound.

October 2011 UPDATE: I've been using this lid occasionally for a couple of years now.I have to say it's held up well.I've gotten kind of used to it as an emergency lid for pots or pans with at least a 10" diameter.I now think it was worth the $20 I spent.Still not happy with the manufactuerer's representations, but I see they've toned down their claims to be a little more accurate.Anyway, I'm upgrading this from 3 stars to 4.

I got this lid because my favorite frying pan did not come with a lid. I found several lids but they either only fit 1 size or were all stainless. I wanted a glass lid and this one was a nice compromise; the steam vent is a plus too. The construction seems pretty sturdy but I'll have to see how it holds up over the years.

The maximum usable diameter of the lid is 12 3/8" and there are steps located at 11 1/2", 10 3/4", and 10" (see my product photo). If your pot or pan happens to be one of those diameters, you should get a nice fit; otherwise, expect some wiggle room. As another reviewer mentioned, lids like these can conflict with the handle on your pan, so before you buy it, make a few measurements to ensure everything will work out.

I've had no problems when using this lid for its advertised pan sizes. Its good points are: the glass insert (you can check cooking progress of foods); the handle stays cool; there's a steam vent; it does work with a variety of pan sizes; the stainless steel that doesn't discolor, and it can go in the dishwasher.

Wish I read the top review 'till the end.

BEFORE BUYING: If using it for pans with smaller diamater (8" or 10"), make sure the pan/pot handles are level with the rim of the pan or this lid will not sit flat on it. (HOW TO CHECK: Turn pan upside down on a flat surface, such as a table--if the weight of the pan leans entirely on the rim and not on the handles, then buying this cover is ok)

I bought the champagne colored pots and pans, and they perfectly compliment the earthy copper tones of my kitchen. They also work pretty well-as long as they are seasoned the non-stick part works well.***I was a nube and didn't know what "seasoned" meant when I read these reviews.Yeah-you just heat each pan on medium heat over a burner for 30 seconds, and then rub the inside of them with vegetable oil to maintain the non-stick coating. They cook the food pretty evenly--so no complaints there. However, these freaking things will not stack.I don't like to put my pots and pans inside of each other because they will scratch and ruin the non-stick interior. So I invert the lids and stack them accordingly.Maybe it's a triviality but ... the handles are too heavy, and they just tip over.I can never reach in for a pan without all of the other ones falling all over.A small price to pay for decent pots and pans I guess:/

Look nice.Seem like cheaper non stick as almost everything sticks to surface without Pam or other spray. My wife uses them a lot and is really unhappy with them.I've cooked with them twice, once was OK, second time everything stuck to pan.Surface easily scratched, even though we use primarily plastic and wooden utensils while cooking.Anyways, I don't understand the great reviews IMHO.

Mauviel Mcook Collection Round Frying Pan, Stainless Steel

Mauviel M'Cook 5213.24 9.5 Inch Round Frying Pan, Cast Stainless Steel HandleNone of the stores around me carry it so I didn't get a chance to hold it--I bought it based on reviews and the Mauviel name. I really don't like the way this thing feels in my hand. The handle is too thin, and that makes it difficult to maneuver. And this is considering that I have small hands.

I've only cooked about 3 times on it, and it's already starting to develop some marks (no I'm not overheating the pan). Washing with a nylon (green) scrub pad leaves all kinds of swirly scratch marks. I have cast iron grates on my gas range, and just lightly moving this pan around leaves scratch marks on the bottom.

Yes it cooks evenly, and if you know what you're doing you won't have any sticking problems, but I don't think it performs any better than a standard forty-dollar tri-ply. I am less than impressed with its durability, considering its price.

I would consider other brands like All Clad, CIA, or even Calphalon.

Cuisinart MultiClad Pro Stainless Saute with Helper and Cover

Cuisinart MCP33-30HN MultiClad Pro Stainless 5-1/2-Quart Saute with Helper and CoverI'm a fan of multiclad cookware, the kind that takes heat conductive aluminum and surrounds it with easy to maintain stainless steel. Professional cooks swear by it, but I'm just a home cook, and didn't even know about until a few years ago while watching America's Test Kitchen. This popular PBS series tests kitchenware, and reports their recommendations via their TV show, as well as 2 different magazines they publish. All-Clad cookware has always ranked up there as the best, but at a high price!

Fortunately for us middle class working stiffs, other cookware manufactures have picked up on the multiclad concept and have been producing their own versions. Enter Cuisinart's MultiClad Pro line.

This particular item takes all the benefits of multiclad and gives us a reasonably priced alternative. Compared to the All Clad Stainless Steel 3-Quart Saute Pan with Lid, which is 1/2 quart smaller and at a price tag of almost $100, you are getting a real bargain here.

This saute pan is beautiful, with stunning luster, and solidly constructed. It goes from oven to table with no problems, and looks stunning. The lid fits nicely, and the curved lip allows for pouring that resists clinging to the side of the pot. It's very very easy to maintain. Personally, I hand wash all my high end cookware, so I cannot comment on whether it's dishwasher safe. If you do hand wash (and you should....just sayin'), use Bar Keepers Friend® Cleanser & Polish: 12 OZ and a non abrasive sponge to keep that amazing shine.

I give the product 5 stars, for it's durability, construction, looks, and ease of cleaning. I love this Cuisinart Line and highly recommend it.

I spent more hours than I want to admit researching and choosing pots and pans. I ordered several different sets including Cuisinart's Chef's Classic 7-piece set and the MultiClad Pro 7-piece set. I ended up returning both and purchased individual pots. If you purchase Multiclad pots individually, you don't end up paying too much more than a full set would cost, but you can choose the exact pans you want. I purchased a 10" saute pan, 1.5qt sauce pan, and 4qt sauce pan and I use every pan almost every day. If I bought the 7or 12-piece set, I'd save some money per pan, but many of the pans (8qt stockpot, for example) would sit idle.

I really liked the idea of getting a saute pan because it holds way more food and is more versatile. I can cook for 2-5 people with the same pan, whereas the 10" frying pan that comes with the 7-piece set can barely make enough for 3 people.

It cooks very evenly and like others have said, can be made non-stick with the right preparation. Simply warm up the pan first, then add oil, and once that is nice and hot, add your foods. I made the best crepes I've ever made in this pan with no sticking at all!

The look and feel of the pan is also excellent. It's heavy and high-quality, but not too heavy. Also, the brushed stailess exterior with the mirror-finish rim is so sexy, if a pan can be called sexy. I like these so much that I always want to clean them up and they make me happy every time I see them!

Get this, it's highly recommended! It's too bad it costs as much as the 5 1/2 quart saute pan :(

I have used non-stick pans forever AND have replaced said pans over and over as they end up scratching.I decided to change to stainless steel for health and safety reason as well as a more permanent cookware.I did my research and Cuisinart came out on top, which is why I chose this brand. Also, as I wanted to be able to actually lift the pan, I decided on this 3 1/2 size.I am happy and satisfied and would highly recommend as a high quality cookware.Be prepared to use a little care.. but worth it

T-fal A8572494 Specialty Nonstick 3-Quart Handy Pot Sauce Pan with Glass Lid Dishwasher Safe Cookwa

T-fal A8572494 Specialty Nonstick 3-Quart Handy Pot Sauce Pan with Glass Lid Dishwasher Safe Cookware, GrayThe picture of this T-fal pan is deceiving. It almost looks like it has a metal cover and because of that I almost didn't order it. The description says glass cover so because of that I did order it, taking a chance on that alone. When I got the pan, I was truly impressed. It's a great pan!Non-stick inside and out, heavy glass cover and a really nice cushion grip solid tight handle. It's not a cheap thin pot by any means. I'm glad I purchased it. It's much more impressive in person and it comes well packed too. I would definitely buy another when I need one.

I love T-Fal cookware.I've seen other reviews that say it isn't what it used to be, but I've bought a couple of different pans recently and they seem just as heavy and durable as the set I got 10 yrs. ago [complete with chicken fryer pan(QVC)] and I'm still using most of it.I would have given this pot 5 stars BUT, for some weird reason, (I fear just for looks), T-Fal made this pan with a right-angle, bend/curve between base and sides.Starchy food tends to compact into such angled corners, the old ones have a slightly more gradual curve which is a much better design.Sadly, if this pot is as durable as the last, I'll be struggling with these corners for a lot of years.

Great pot that cleans easy, but the pictures and description are out of date or lacking at this writing.

The new model is nicely enhanced but not if you don't want the undisclosed changes.

I will review the notable differences first.

---------------

SMALL POUR SPOUTS ----on both side of the pan and deep lid with dual sized lid strainers.

Turn the lid to expose holes (Two sizes) in the edge for venting or pouring chrome or Stainless Steel (? the glass lid, deep metal edge, is not aluminum and not magnetically attracted).

Another product on Amazon has larger spouts and strainers.

New WearEver A8342465 Cook & Strain Stainless Steel 3-Quart Sauce Pan by T-fal

This is as close as I see on Amazon for illustration of the spouts.

The lid has a vent hole as shown or a digital electronic temperature probe can be inserted.

The lid handle is now a hoop

WearEver A8012474 Comfort Grip Nonstick Oven Safe Dishwasher Safe 3-Quart Source Pan with Glass Lid Cookware, Black

This is as close as I see on Amazon for illustration of the handle.

---------------

I am glad to have this pot and at under 20 dollars it is a steal to me.

Next Some changes from old reviews.

Another review shows a different non-ridged bottom, more likely to slide.

It now comes with a flat bottom with concentric quarter inch grooves and the contact areas to the stove have the same slight texture and finish as the sides.

It has a bend/curve between base and sides to prevent cooking or cleaning problems a sharper edge could cause.

The pot and lid handles are large and nicely protected from heating up.

Non-stick interior and exterior with a heavy glass cover.

There is NO temperature gage at the bottom of the pot.

---------------

Another reviewer points out he "bought a dishwasher-safe nonstick pan, to find that the labeling on this one actually recommends hand washing instead. If cleaned in the dishwasher, it advises you to re-season it every 10 washes."

Seems everyone has to say dishwasher-safe to make a sale now days. Just don't do it.

If something is not stainless steel or glass like take "dishwasher-safe" to mean "it doesn't hurt the dishwasher" and just clean by hand.

It really cleans up easy.

---------------

These are general remarks from printed instructions under shipping cardboard.

Be sure to read all the instructions.

"Suitable for all heat sources except induction" gas, coil/solid electric, halogen.

Safe to 350 degree F / 175 degree C.

Do not use under the broiler.

Use only low to medium heat settings and do not boil dry or use abrasives.

Cooking at ultra high settings can cause fumes dangerous for certain animals.

Made in China.

Enjoy!

Not for Glass top stove, I don't know if it didn't mention it or if I just missed it in the description. The bottom of the pan isn't smooth, but the rest of the pot is fine.

Pot And Pan Organizer

Pot And Pan Organizer3 stars for 2 reasons:

1) Your larger pot/pan covers must be stored in the slots with your smallest pots/pans and vice versa. If all your pots/pans/covers are large, then this organizer doesn't fully work as the covers will have to be stored elsewhere. As shown in the picture, when you grab a large pan, you must first remove the small pan cover so that you can cleanly extract the item w/o bumping the pan cover. If only there was a way to store the cover with the pot/pan that it goes with. Also, the covers are not securely held in place, so you must open the organizer drawer carefully or covers may slip off.

2) The installation instructions are not very good. The only picture I had to go on was the one provided by Amazon. The product wasn't even shown in the product brochure or installation instructions that came with the item. The instructions are not specific as to how the item is to be placed in the cabinet. Centering the item works, but this isn't the best place as larger/heavier pans (which go into the back) may be harder to get in. I found it best to offset the organizer a couple inches.

On a positive note, I'm no longer stacking pots/pans and there is less bending over since all the pot/pan handles are oriented upwards.

I purchased this organizer with the hope that it would solve all the issues we were having with the growing number of pots in the cabinet. In that regard it is almost perfect. What i found is that this is well suited for normal sized skillets and the smaller pots.

If you have a larger pan (think of those 3 inch deep skillets that are oversized) or a common dutch oven sizedpot, it may not work for you.The depth of the pot will take up most of the available space so as to make it virtually unable to hold any of your other pans unless you nest them inside of each other. In which case, you need to figure out how to protect the non-stick interiors. For the larger skillet, i found that the handle could barely fit in the cabinet once set in the organizer and the little handle on the front of the pan, extends out and will get hung up on the slide if you aren't careful.

With the exception of those two types of pots/pans, this is a great organizer. It holds all of the other standard pots and the lids just like the picture shows.

If you are considering purchasing this item, my recommendation is to look at your current cabinet and determine what kinds of pots/pans you have. For those with larger pots, you might be better off considering drawers that slide out and just installing two of those to reclaim that space lost by the half shelf.

Zojirushi EP-RAC50 Gourmet d'Expert 1350-Watt Electric Skillet

Zojirushi EP-RAC50 Gourmet d'Expert 1350-Watt Electric SkilletI had the older version of this skillet. It was half the price but only came with one pan. I loved it. The nonstick coating was virtually indestructible. I used metal utensils in it all the time and never got so much as a scratch. Well, I became so confident in the strength of the coating that I used a steak knife to cut a steak in half while it was in the pan to see if it was done. It wasn't knife proof. I guess I could have just ordered a replacement pan from Zojirushi, but I decided to buy this EP-RAC50 instead. It's better than the old one was. It's a little bigger, a little nicer looking. But I really like having the two pans. I can brown meat for spaghetti in the grill pan, and then boil noodles in the other. I don't even use the stove top anymore. You don't have to worry about pans being centered on the burner or sitting flat. Plus you have much more precise control over the temperature. It heats very evenly and the thermostat seems to be very accurate. I also like the fact that the nonstick coating is NOT Teflon, which is carcinogenic. And it's much more durable than Teflon. I don't need to use oil or butter because nothing sticks. Not even eggs. It wipes clean with a dry paper towel! Another nice thing is that you can remove the pan from the base so there's less chance of burning your food when it's done cooking unlike with some cheaper skillets where the pan and heating element are one unit. If this skillet breaks, I'll buy another one. It's worth every penny.

Gets hot quick.

Keeps the heat it is set for.

Looks good.

Very easy to clean.

Steaming food works great.

Cooks to perfection (so far).

Glass top makes it "fun" to use and see the cooking process.

A 2lb. meatloaf made in this pan was the best I've eaten and I didn't have to use the oven.

Next up is: Roast chicken and baking.

Wish:

1. That the pans were perfectly flat. The pans slope slightly to the outer edges and more oil is needed to compensate for the depth of the oil at the center. So trying to cook with less oil is difficult because the oil gathers toward the edges.

2. Hope they can make a Wok like pan insert that can be purchased as an option.

3. That the cover be tight fitting with the vent in the cover.

Other than that the product is the best electric skillet I've used.

I would recommend it to anyone.

How does it hold up after 6 months of use Feb. 2010 thru July 2010:

1. I only use wood and plastic utensils but the Pans scratch very easy and $77 plus to replace just one pan.

2. The manufacturer won't stand behind the pans unless you send it back to them for evaluation.

3. Even though the pans scratch, they clean-up without scrubbing. Very easy....

3. Contacting the factory rude.

4. Pans are not flat is still my biggest issue.

Still, the Zojirushi is the best and most versatile electric fry pan I've used.

I use it at least 4 to 5 times a week and I would but it again.

No more 'hot spots' is one of my favorites! The pans heat evenly.

I love having two pans.I have used it for everything from soup to stir fry.

It has earned the title of 'Super Pan' in our house!

I wish I had this in my apartment living days! I got this as a present for a hotpot party from my husband. We were expecting 12 people over and I'd been using my cusinart fondue pot (which has worked when it's 4 to 6 of us). I have another electric skillet but it's old, cheap and not reliable. Hubby got this and (1) sticker shock, holy crap! (2) wow it's big! it's really big. I had thought about returning it b/c of the cost. I'm glad I didn't.

We used this as our non-spicy hot pot. Poured some seasoning, broth and water, bam ready in a matter of minutes. It boiled the broth. I was surprised. So this is great for a decent size group of people. It didn't burn my food it kept the broth at a stable temperature. The meats/foods were cold (refrigerated/frozen) but we didn't notice any drastic temperature changes. Even heating for all uses (steaming, boiling, pan frying)

It's also a pretty looking machine, very easy to use, very easy to clean! Non-stick for real and just a wet soapy sponge, and everything comes off. The nonstick coating is still working even after all the abuse of metal utensils, chopsticks, spatulas, whatever.

SAFE! If you happen to knock/trip on the power cord it'll pop off magnetized so you don't have to worry about the whole pot going with it. The handles on the pot stays cool even if the pot is boiling.

UPDATE:

I've steamed a whole fish (4lbs)!! I used the steamer rack with some ginger and scallions, let the water heat up, put the fish in, 10 minutes later, the softest, silkiest tender fish ever. It looks big at first but it's perfect even for 2 people

Steamed tofu with ginger/scallions same as above, also delish.

Soups easy peasy, used the large pot, browned the meat, threw in the veggies, then stock done!

Green Chile browned my meat and caramelized onions, threw in all the other ingredients and seasoning let this sucker simmer for a day...meat is so tender and flavorful, the chile was a hit.

Use the shorter pan to brown potstickers

Temperature settings are great! I haven't used my crockpot since we've gotten this it actually COOKS the food not just keeps it warm.

ENDLESS POSSIBILITIES

Most of my cooking with the Zojirushi EP-RAC50 is grilling. I grill vegetables using the shallow pan and have been impressed with its performance. The heat is evenly distributed across the pan preventing hot spots and burnt food. Cleanup has been simple, I have not had anything stick to the pan that required scrubbing. I have used the deep pan on a few occasions and have found it to work well. I have not steamed with the rack so I can not provide information on its performance. The exterior stays cool to the touch preventing burns and reducing heatin the kitchen.

The only weakness that I have detected is the power cord. It is not a standard cord that is easily replaced.

Norpro Nonstick Mini Waffle Pan

Norpro Nonstick Mini Waffle PanThis is NOT your regular waffle grill, but it piqued my interest. Prime the grill with a non-stick spray and pre-heat, pour your batter and flip when the top no longer looks wet and give it a good flattening with a turner to imprint the "waffle" on the other side.

It's a nicely constructed heavy weight grill for it's little size and it heated evenly even with the thick banana and chocolate chip batter I tried with it for the first run. Partly due to the thick batter, the waffles turned out to be like a waffle/pancake mix. It was a challenge to flip, but doable and I'm sure with practice it will become easier.

This little grill may not appeal to all as both sides will not come out as crisp and even as a regular waffle maker, but I like it and it's compact size.

The waffle creates with this pan are very thin, not at all like the ones from a twist over type of waffle pan

Le Creuset 3-Ply Stainless-Steel 11-Inch Fry PanThis is a beautiful pan.I own and enjoy many pieces of the cast iron from Le Creuset. However, I prefer stainless steel.I was very happy when they came out with a stainless steel line by Le Creuset. This pan is a nice size for a family of four.I only gave it 4 stars because it would have been nice to have a lid.Otherwise it is a great pan.

It is a nice size but besides not having a lid, it stained, cooked bacon and it stained, cooked chicken and it is worse. Unfortunately I also bought the set, and after just steaming green beans the pot and steamer are stained. Tried to clean them with scrubby sponge then brillo. Was told to try Bartenders buddy for stainless steel but I don't want chemicals in the pan. It may not effect cooking but for new expensive pans they look awful

Scanpan Classic 10-Inch Crepe Pan

Scanpan Classic 10-Inch Crepe PanAfter searching and testing various pans for safety, heat distribution, quality craftsmanship and non stick performance (Including enameled cast iron, and even 100% Ceramic Pans), I ended up with this one.It is made in Denmark. It is Green-Tek (Environmentally friendly, free of PFOA) and the non-stick coating is a mixture of ceramic and titanium (not flaky Teflon). The core is Aluminum which is a great metal for fast and even distribution of heat.

The company says the surface is scratch resistant, but I tend to use plastic utensils when turning my crepes so I wouldn't know how scratch proof it really is.

Overall a very solid feel and great craftsmanship.I have no complaints about this pan and recommend it to anyone who wants to make near perfect crepes, eggs, and other similar "sticky" products easily and quickly.Clean up is a breeze.

I bought the Scanpan Classic crepe pan after reading numerous reviews on this and other crepe pans on Amazon.I wanted something high-end and well made that would last a long time.I have a cast iron Le Creuset skillet at home, and thought about getting a Le Creuset crepe pan to match.I also considered something more traditional like the Staub crepe pan.Ultimately I was swayed by reviews of this Scanpan crepe pan with their ceramic-titanium nonstick surface. It is a high-quality pan, with a thick and solid feeling base, secure and comfortable handle, and beautiful (nearly perfect!) fit and finish.

I ordered this online through Amazon.ca and paid the same price as on Amazon.com but in Canadian dollars.I also received free shipping in Canada.I placed the order on Dec 6 and it was received exactly two weeks later on Dec 20.I made a batch of crepes this afternoon, and they turned out perfectly. This pan is TRULY nonstick. For the first crepe, I used a bit of olive oil but for the next four, I did not and nothing stuck to the pan.It was also very easy to clean.I highly recommend this crepe pan and I am totally satisfied with it.On top of it all, it's so much fun to use!

The price on Amazon is a bargain.Compare to $79 at Ming Wo and $99 at Sears.I would give this away to family and friends for house-warmings, etc.It is really an impressive, quality item that is a pleasure to use.

I had read reviews on Scanpans so I finally bought one and tried it.These pans are just amazing. You can cook anything in them and then just wipe them out with a paper towel and they are clean. If something really sticks (for instance if you forget something and it really burns) you can use Barkeepers Friend on it and it will be fine.I'm in Culinary School and we did crepes on lab and loved them so I bought this pan for home use. This past Easter Sunday I used it to make crepes with strawberries and blackberries.I did easily a dozen crepes, not one stuck at all and when finished I wiped it out with a paper towel and it looked new again.Another great thing about Scanpans is that they come with a lifetime warranty. If anything ever goes bad with the pan you simply send it back to the factory and they mail you another one! This crepe pan has the "Classic" handle which is a plastic material but it can withstand temps to 500 degrees so it can even go in the oven but my other Scanpans are the "Professional" line which have stainless steel handles.Same great titanium/ceramic hybrid interior but just nicer looking handles.I have not tried the CTX line as of yet.

My wife loves this pan, and I love the crepes that come out of it.Very easy to use and solid, surface seems to be holding up quite well, (though I admit we hand wash). The pan is very easy to use, not overly heavy but heavy enough to hold up to our (ugh) dare I say it electric stove. ((we have found most pans warp with the extremes of electric stove tops)) The pan is just perfect for crepes'

I primarily use this crepe pan to make Swedish pancakes. It does an excellent job, to say the least. It's not cheap, but it's well worth the cost. It's heavy and the heat distribution is very uniform, so you won't encounter any hot spots on this device. The ability to use metal utensils is a plus as well.

Winware Stainless Steel Fry Pans

Winware Stainless Steel 14 Inch Fry PanI'm picky about my pans, but unfortunately bought this product without fully researching it, which I have now done after the fact. Before getting into that, Amazon originally listed this item in the shipping section as 20 pounds.I knew that had to be a mistake. They subsequently corrected this, and now that I have the pan, it actually weighs around one pound. My husband thought it was of a good weight for cooking; I think it's a little lighter than it should be.It's also listed as an 8 inch pan, but be aware that your existing 8 inch lids won't fit it correctly; I know because I had three different lids and thought that one of them would surely fit, but none of them do.

If you want to research this Winco (not "Winware" as Amazon has it listed) product or any others in this line, here is the web information:www.wincodwl.comI provide this because "Winware" is the wrong name (the label on the pan says Winco), and this pan doesn't come up easily on a Google search; you have to look for it.The company's toll free number is: 1-888-946-2682.The Winco product number, which you will need (not provided by Amazon) is SSFP-8.I would strongly encourage you to fully research any Winco products before you buy them.

The two major things I was looking for was the gauge of the stainless steel and whether this pan would go in the dishwasher. This information is not provided either on the Amazon page or on the product label, so I was hopeful for good news, but it wasn't.Most high quality pans are a level of 18 gauge stainless steel, preferably 18/10.This pan is 20 gauge. The lower the gauge number, the thicker the steel, meaning that this pan is thinner than most quality cookware. The customer service representative did say that this pan uses induction heat, if that is important to you.I did give it the acid test, making scrambled eggs with cream cheese, and it worked okay and cleaned up well. Also, this pan will tolerate the dishwasher.

From an appearance standpoint, this is a cheap looking pan. It's made in China, and it shows. The handle is riveted on, and I'm wondering whether it with stand up to normal use.I will revisit this review after I have used it for several months, but my initial outlook is pessimistic.Amazon currently has this pan on sale for $14.88.If I had this to do over, I wouldn't buy the pan at all, but having it, I think it's worth about $10 given the gauge of the steel and that conventional 8 inch lids will not fit it.

September 10, 2011 update:This pan has held up better than expected, although it does not get too much use.The handle is sturdy (no flex) and the pan's finish has held up through dishwasher cleaning.I still would not recommend spending the current price for this pan, however.

Good Quality pan.

I bought this pan in summer 2010, in spite of an earlier review.Maybe the product changed since previous review, but I find the current item to be of good construction. It's solidly made, and appears to use the high-quality stainless specified (18/10 grade top notch material).Perfectly acceptable for home use, low price.

EDIT:I forgot to say, 18/10 stainless means the base steel contains 18% chrome and 10% nickel (nominal). This is an expensive grade, and under normal use you shouldn't need to worry about corrosion for a couple thousand years or so.Also, the pan won't melt until you get it up to ~2800*F +/-.Good stuff.FYI

This is my second purchase of this skillet/frying pan (son wants one). I purchased this same one last year and love it. It is much easier to fry larger batches without spilling all over the stovetop and I found a lid here on Amazon that fit perfectly Danesco Gastronome Pro Stainless Steel 14-Inch Diameter Lid. I can't imagine how I lived without a skillet this large but now that I have used one, I will ensure I always do! It doesn't require a lot of heat. As a matter of fact, if you use too high heat it will cause food to stick.I have a gas stove and cook at the lowest setting but then I have no trouble. If you are used to stainless this pan won't cause you any trouble. If you're not used to it, now you know use lower heat!It is a wonderful addition to my kitchen.

Oster 3874 Flip Nonstick Belgian Waffle Maker, Chrome/Black

Oster 3874 Flip Nonstick Belgian Waffle Maker, Chrome/BlackI agree with reviewer Reuben that this is a very good product at a very good price.I was never able to make waffles consistently until I stayed at a motel that had a flip-style wafflemaker at the breakfast buffet.I have been on the lookout for a consumer-grade model and this one suits just fine.

The Oster Flip is sturdy, the non-stick griddles are non-stick and thick, it cooks thoroughly, the operation is straigthforward, and the waffles are thick, light and crisp on the outside.I made a batch of waffle mix using the standard recipe on Hungry Jack Complete Pancake mix, which adds oil and an egg to the "complete" mix, poured it into the Oster, flipped and watched for the Ready light to come back on and Voila! perfect Belgian waffle. It came out whole with no gymnastics (or fork) and it was ready for the next one. Much less stress than making pancakes!

Note: if you are on the market and want to spend more money, two features to look for are an audible alarm when it's time to open (so you can safely wander around the kitchen) and clip-in removable griddles that can go into the dishwasher.Neither interfere with making perfect waffles on the Oster, but would improve the experience further.

At $30 this is as good as any other waffle maker you can find for triple the price or more. It has three temperature levels (low, medium, high). You plug in the device and it automatically turns on (with a red power light to let you know), it takes 2 or so minutes to heat up from a cold start. You then let it heat up until the green light turns on (there is a green light on each side of the device) and then add your waffle mix. Immediately after adding the mix you close the device and flip it over. The green light then goes off and comes back on when your perfect waffle is ready. If need be you can leave it in a few extra seconds to darken up. It takes about 2 minutes to cook.

I have found that the best heat setting is about 1/3 to 1/2 of the way up between the medium and high dots. They truly are perfect waffles every time. It is amazing. Just as good as the hotel breakfast bar where I first used a waffle maker. If you like waffles you need this device. I chose this device over the Presto 03510 Flip-side because this one had adjustable heat and didn't require a separate battery to operate the timer. Plus it is made by Oster (I'm sure you have their blenders in your kitchen like I do) and the flip function seemed more durable. You can't go wrong with this waffle maker. You will be very happy with it. One tip is to use tinfoil underneath for an easy clean up and be sure to oil the inside waffle plates before the first use. Other than that the rest is all self explanatory. Stay tuned for durability updates.

We tried a pair of other similarly priced waffle makers out before settling on this particular model. The first brand we tried had poor construction quality -the lid clip snapped while we unpacked it!The other device we tried made shallow waffles and didn't seem to cook all the way through. We had to let them sit for double the recommended time just to get something edible.

The Oster flip allows us to make Belgian waffles just like the ones we've enjoyed at restaurants. These aren't like the tiny Kellogg waffles you buy at Walmart, these are deep large waffles that you can make a meal of. The flip allows the batter to settle evenly, flowing into the deep grooves to make perfect waffles every time. The construction is solid and the cook time is accurate. As a bonus, you can turn the flip sideways so the waffle maker requires less storage space!

Looked at 6 or 8 waffle makers and bought this one just to try it.It was an affordable flip style, and had better temperature control and monitoring lights than some similar priced, like the Presto.I really preferred the simplicity of the Presto flip mechanism, but wanted more control over the cooking temperature for different batters.Besides, no one had a Presto for the same price locally to try.

Based just on performance this waffle iron would get 5 stars, but the quality is only 3-stars, so I'm giving it a 4 overall. It feels light and has some loose fittings, but it does the job very well.Time will tell if the reliability matches the performance. The 1000 watt element is nice for quick heating and getting the waffle cooked in 3 to 4 minutes.I have not timed it, so it could be faster.Speed was not an issue for the me and the wife.

Based on the construction this is not a unit that can be roughly handled.I think it could be easy to break if you are prone to force things or don't take your time. There is plenty of leverage in the handle to force the flip in the wrong direction and break the plastic fittings. The temperature control knob does feel loose or flimsy, but the control works well for regulating browning and how done the waffle is.The lights are very helpful for guiding the cooking time.Red light indicates unit is plugged in.Green light indicates unit has reached cooking temperature.Normal cooking cycle is to heat unit till green light comes on, open waffle iron, hit the grids with some oil spray if first waffle, lay on the batter, close and flip, green light will go out as iron starts to heat and cook. When the green light comes on again the waffle is done.If not, close and let cook longer, and turn up the heat for the next one. There is a whole wheat recipe in the owner's guide that is very good.I substitute apple sauce for the oil (still don't understand why that works!) but still can cook 2 or 3 waffles with one spritz of oil.Yummy guilt-free food, if you lay off the whipped cream, butter, and chocolate sauce (those were the days).Don't overdo the amount of batter; less is more.So I can't tell you how easy it is to clean up an overflow, and hope I never can.

Also looked at the $80 flip brands and found they were no better at twice the price, and less convenient to store due to their size.Turn the Oster sideways and it slips into the cabinet with no problem.

So it is good so far.If it is still working a year from now will be the real test.

UPDATE 12/8/2009:Still performing very well.Does not get a lot of use, but very consistent and prompt waffle making. The sideways storage option is an unexpected benefit.Really wish I had a second one for large breakfast crowds. The recipes that come with it are great.Would buy again, and might actually do so if I can get the second one for a good discount :).

The lid seemed a little loose when it arrived but we used it and it works just fine. Our first waffles turned out perfectly. We didn't have a non-stick spray to use so we just applied cooking oil with a cloth the best we could and it worked. The appliance does seem a little "cheap" but if we take care of it, it should last a while. I would prefer if the plates were removable to clean, but honestly, there was little to clean anyway.

Clipper High Heat Spoon Spatula, Red Handle

Clipper 215-00325 14-Inch High Heat Spoon Spatula, Red HandleAfter time after time of cooking eggs and having my cheap IKEA spatula melt on me, I decided to go on amazon and get a replacement. I just wanted something high heat, so I searched for that and found what looked the most affordable (though IKEA is like 99cents).

The product came and I've been using it to make eggs and anything else ever since. It's sturdy and durable, the handle is firm and the spatula feels substantial. I see no warping or degeneration when high heat is used, and it's totally non reactive. For the price, it's everything I wanted and more. I promptly threw away my other cheap IKEA spatulas and will be using this for the seen future.

Berghoff Earthchef Acadian 8-Inch Non-Stick Fry Pan

Berghoff Earthchef Acadian 8-Inch Non-Stick Fry PanMake sure that you DO NOT EVER use any non-stick cooking spray on these pans. One use will completely ruin the non-stick qualities. I think that these pans are pretty good but we sprayed the non-stick on one and now it's covered in burnt marks and stains that will not come off and the non-stick doesn't work anymore. But even the one that we did not spray the non-stick on has some sticky stains at the top edges that we can't really get off. Kinda wish I'd just gotten a cheap eco-pan from Bed Bath and Beyond since I'm not sure that these were worth the price. They do work fairly well as a non-stick but like I said one of ours is not washing clean now even though we never used cooking spray on it and it should still wipe clean...

I was getting so frustrated with non stick coatings in the fry pans constantly scratching and becoming unhealthy. I discovered this pan by accident while watching a morniing news show. I love how it washes up so easily. The non stick surface is just that not a coating. And one last thing I love how it cooks eggs whether scrambled or fried. I highly recommend this pan.

We had purchased one of these pans a couple of years ago and were quite impressed. But, Farberware had changed the style and they were not as nice as the previous pan design. They cook evenly and hold up well.
