FARBERWARE Classic Stainless Steel Fry Pan - 10 Inch ~ With & Without Lid

Farberware Classic 10' Covered FrypanI bought this Farberware 10 inch frypan for my son's first college apartment because of the price and Farberware name. After using it at his apartment, I bought another one for myself along with a 12" fry pan!

The pan is heavy based (aluminum core with 18/10 stainless steel) and dispurses heat quickly and evenly. This allows for all types of pan cooking, including frying chicken or pork chops to saute veggies or stir fry to slow cooking a chilli without hot spots in the pan.Clean up is easy and is advertised as dishwasher safe, but my son doesn't have a dishwasher in his apartment, but will take Farberware's word for it, along with the handle being oven safe to 350 degrees.

The tight fitting lid allows for quick steaming or cooking the top of sunny side up eggs without breaking the yoke or flipping the egg, you get a once over easy egg without having to actually flip the egg.

A great fry pan for almost any application.

I have always wanted to own a classic aluminum piece of cookware and a skillet was a perfect choice.I had two gift certificates from doing online surveys so my total cost out of pocket after shipping was added was .58.So, I thought even if I didn't like the pan a great deal once I got it I only paid .58 cents and it would be no big loss. Was I pleasantly surprised at the curvy lines and clean appearance and tight fitting lid.It cooks wonderfully and the rolled, high sides make cooking even easier and cleanup is easy too.I can see myself reaching for this skillet time and time again.(The only flaw is it could use a handle on the opposite side to make draining liquids easier.):-)

After destroying several nonstick wedding gifts with my metal utensils I am loving this pan.I love the straight sides after having all with angled ones.It cooks evenly and has been very easy to clean. For me, this is much more useful and easier to handle than a nonstick pan.

Nice pan, but the product description of 4.4" height is deceiving. We thought the pan would be that deep, but apparently the height measurement includes the lid.

I have had a set of Farberware Classic pans since the late 1970's.Just recently, getting tired of non-stick steel pans with peeling black interiors, I decided to buy some good Farberware stainless sauce pans. When I saw that I could get a 10 inch pan with deeper interior I jumped on it.I can make dishes like Rice-A-Roni or spaghetti sauce without it slopping over the sides like the regular 10" pans. Now all of the Farberware Classic pans have a stainless cap over a thicker aluminum base for easier cleanup and a nicer look.I was not aware of this change until recently and am very happy that Farberware has made this improvement.I have purchased several sizes of the new pans and they have been a great addition to my collection.Thank you Farberware!!!

5 Tier Pan Organizer

5 Tier Pan OrganizerI bought this to put my Viking SS pans on.Not beefy enough to handle the weight.BUT ... I ended up putting it on it's back and it works great.Just takes up a little more cupboard space.Because the Viking cookware is so heavy, it is nice to not have to move a stack of heavy pans to get to the one I want to use.Bravo.

Not very stable, pans slide off easily, esp one on top which picture doesn't show one on top.Key is leaving a heavy pan on bottom, which then reduces the purpose of the product.

Garcima 18-Inch Stainless Steel Paella Pan, 46cm

Garcima 18-Inch Stainless Steel Paella Pan, 46cmThis is the second paella pan I have purchased. The first one was smaller and was carbon steel because I didn't want to make a big investment on a pan that I wasn't sure I was going to use. I have been making paella for the past 5 years every few months and I serve it at an annual Christmas dinner party that my friends and family always look forward to attending. My old pan was getting worn out and was no longer creating a beautiful Socarrat on the bottombut was burning it instead. I finally bit the bullet and purchased this gorgeous stainless steel pan that is 3" larger in diameter than my old one. I tried it out as soon as I got it. Absolutely perfect! I thought it would be really heavy once it was full of ingredients but that is not the case. Once again the Socarrat is perfectly toasted and the cleanup was painless. I used a little bit of barkeeper's and a spongeit came clean very quickly. I can't wait to use it this weekend so our party guests can once again experience a perfectly cooked paella!

Polymerose Mini Egg FRY PAN with Glass Lid - Liquidation Price!

Polymerose Mini Egg FRY PAN with Glass Lid - Liquidation Price!I love sunny side up eggs, and I was looking for a small fry pan, with a clear lid to monitor the progress of the frying egg and turn the fire off at the perfect moment. Personally, I love glass lids because I can see the egg while AVOIDING the shooting of burning butter drops all over my arms.

This little pan (and I mean little, because it is a little less than 5 inch diameter) solved my problem: good quality, looks cute and I can fry my egg to perfection without getting burnt with small explosions of butter in the process. So far so good...

I choose this product because it was the only one that had lid and I really love it, the eggs look perfect. I recomend everyone to buy it.

Calphalon Unison Nonstick 10-Piece Cookware Set

Calphalon Unison Nonstick 10-Piece Cookware SetHeres my honest review on the Calphalon Unison Cookware.

First a little back ground,I attended Johnson and Wales Culinary and I have been a professional chef for 22 years.

I was in the market for a new range top set {frying, saute, boilers, and grill pans}, all of which I prefer to have non stick. Now I am not going to lie and say we use non stick/anodized pans at the restaurant, because we dont, to be honest with you I run a 4 star kitchen and there isnt a "name" brand pan in the place...The pans are old commercial banders, that are dented and burnt on the out side.Dont let anyone mislead you in thinking commercial cookware is good for your home, the pans are very thin so they will heat quickly, they are plain no fancy coatings, handles, or glass lids, we replace them when they start to leak, clean them every night with steel wool and scrapers when needed, and throw them around like they are free...Most things that can stick will be cooked on the griddle which is built into the commercial stove and is just a piece of steel with burners under it, and them item dont have a shot of sticking because we use enough lard/butter that they couldnt stick if we wanted them to.So I hope you get the point, you dont want "commercial" cookware and I wouldnt use any expensive cookware in a commercial kitchen, just cast iron and cheap pans...

Now ontomy review, I was in the market or a new set of pans, for my new home kitchen.I prefer non stick pans at home. When most people cook at home there doing other things all over the house {I often cook from the couch}, so the attention you need to pay a set of stainless pans with a chicken breast in them is a lot higher than with non stick pans.Plus at home cooking for my family I use as little butter and oil as possible, non stick is the only way to achieve this...

I have always liked Calphalon products, and there warranty for those of you that dont know is incredible, lifetime with no proof of purchase required, you can buy a pan at a yard sale and it is under warranty, not to mention there customer service is the best in the business...

I initially got scared by the numerous bad reviews on amazon. But since I have used Calphalon pans before and always had good results, I figured I would figure it out for my self, I only bought a 10" fry pan {they call it an omelet pan}, a 4qt saute pan, and a 1 qt sauce pan...As soon as they came a started cooking, first night was pork chops in the fry pan, eggplant, squash, and zuk in the saute pan, and a white cream sauce in the sauce pan...It worked great, I wouldnt change a thing, the sauce pans have a smaller opening so you dont get as much condensation and the evaporation is minimal, plus the non stick worked so well It looked like the sauce wasnt touching the pan.The fry pan seared the pork chops well, they didnt stick at all and they heated fast and evenly, the saute pan, did what it was supposed to I used my olive wood turner to shuffle around the pan and was not being careful, just normal stirring and turning...After I was done cooking, I let the pans cool, and took them to the sink, I hand washed them and inspected them, no a scratch and they were super easy to clean.... All in all a nice set of pans, I like the weight, although if you get a 6 qt pan full of food, its going to be heavy.

I have since purchased 8 more pans, and love them, I have had the first 3 pans for over a year, and they look new, I hand wash and dont bang them around but there like new..

Some tips for the people who want to cook professionally in there home with these pans { or any for that matter}...

When possible, get your foods to room temp {60 degrees or so, surface temp, not internal} I take a steak out of the cooler and put it on the counter for an hour before cooking}, I cant explain what it does but the results are noticable.

Use the correct temperature, the unison pans, will cook better at lower temps because they conduct so well, so if you used to cokk a pork chop on med high in stainless, med will due with these pans.

Never put cold food in a cold pan and let it cook {exceptions for stocks, water, and sauces}, get your pan up to temp and then add the food, once you add it to the pan dont touch it untill that contact area is cooked...Exampleput a hamburger patty on the pan, leave it for 3-5 minutes depending how thick it is, and them flip it, dont swuash it down or move it around the pan, just leave it alone...

In closing I love the pans, there expensive, but there nice, look and perform well, easy to maintain, best warranty around, and have some nice pans available....

PS: nothing is going to replace, having a le crueset skillet, 5qt dutch oven style pan, and oven roaster..but in conjunction these pans are nice...

Purchased 4 items of Calphalon Unison cookware, Used them just a few times and now I'm addicted. I now own the complete offering of Calphalon Unison cookware, including Utensils, Towels and Pot Holders. What a difference good cookware can do for your cooking. Also save on the amount of cookware you use. I seared a small roast on the stove top, than put it in the oven in the same pot. Also made homemade gravy (sauce) in the 8 quart stock pot, had it simmering for over 6 hours and there was no burnt sauce on the bottom of the pot. Clean up is a breeze, alittle Dawn dish detergent and a Dobie pad a couple a swirls around the inside and the outside of the Pan/Pot/Lid, rince it off, towel dry and back into the cabinet. They are also dishwasher safe. I am so glad I decided to go with the Calphalon Unison. If you are looking for a good set of cookware, don't look any further.

My first Amazon review ever. I had researched many sets of cookware before deciding upon the Unison set. A previous a loyal Calphalon customer. I even recycled my old Calphalon (in the box provided with this set)sending it back to the company. I was sorry I did. I should have kept my old pot and pans. After almost 15 years they looked much better than this set did after only a few months. Let me state, I read the directions, care instructions, use the recommended type of utensils and cleaning products to the letter. I could not believe my eyes when the non-stick finish came off! I figured maybe I got one defective pan. Sorry to say that was not the case.

I purchased Calphalon Unison because I thought Calphalon was the best cookware around. Was I wrong. I purchased the Unison because it was rated diswasher safe. I was very careful with my new cookware... I had paid ALOT of money for it and wanted to treat it well so it would last a long, long time. I had the cookware about two weeks when I noticed the exterior of the pots that I used the most was wearing off and the pots now have no finish left on them. The interior, the non-stick part is fine... but the exterior of the pots look like I picked them up, used, at a garage sale or something. I will never purchase Calphalon again. For the most part I wash them by hand because I use them more often than I run the diswasher, but I occasionally put them into the diswasher... maybe once or twice before the finish wore right off. I can't articulate how disappointed I am in this cookware.

I've had Cuisinart 66-14 Chef's Classic Nonstick Hard-Anodized 14-Piece Cookware Set before but after a few years of use the Nonstick coating had worn off and the pans were rusting.I decided to take the plunge and invest in cookware which I hoped would last a lifetime. After doing some research I came to the conclusion that stainless steel, triply was the way to go so I bought Calphalon Tri-Ply Stainless Steel 13-Piece Cookware Set last yearand it's nice but my husband and I hate how difficult they were to clean and foods such as eggs, pancakes and rice would stick. They cleaned up well enough but it takes a bit of elbow grease and products such as Bartender's Keeper to do so.

After 6 months of trying to work with the stainless steel set we broke down andlooked for a non-stick which we could use to cook those foods we found were sticking frequently to the stainless steel and decide to try two of Calphalon's NonStick brands. We purchased one pan from Calphalon's Unison and Calphalon's Bronze collection and we loved them both!

We found clean up to be a breeze with these pans. Eggs can cook with NO oil if I wanted and they slide right off.We found ourselves using the two pans over and over and avoiding the stainless steel set. Finally my husband just took all the stainless steel cookware and put them in our pantry.

I decided at that point that the two pans, great as they were, weren't enough to handle all of my cooking needs to we invested in the Calphalon Unison set and couldn't be happier.

I have been using the two nonstick pans from Calphalon for about 5 6 months and If these pans hold up as well as those two I purchased for trial then I know I'm going to continue loving this set.

A few notes.I have only been using wood or rubber cooking utensils and we hand wash the pans.I know Calphalon says these are dishwasher safe but they clean up so easily we haven't found a need to stick them in the dishwasher.

Another note: The lids for this set has a good weight, they make a tight fit on the pans and steam doesn't leak out.

CucinaPro Stainless Steel Electric Skillet

CucinaPro 1454 Stainless Steel Round Classic Electric Skillet 16 InchI'm very satisfied with my purchase.I wanted a stylish electric skillet.I did not want one with a non-stick coating, as those tend to flake off over time.I wanted something that had enough eye-appeal to use on a buffet table or to carry to potlucks.Typically, I use this skillet for lightly fried Italian dishes like scallopini, breaded zucchini, and chicken piccata.Having a temperature dial is useful when making these dishes as you can easily keep the oil at proper temperature to crisp the food without getting it soggy. This skillet does tasks that my deep fryer and crock pot do not do well.Basically, a deep fryer is too large for scallopini, and a crock pot is too deep for certain buffet presentations.Recently, I took it to a pot luck and used it to serve Buffalo wings. The instructions indicated that the pan needs to be "seasoned" before first use to avoid sticking. I did have some complications in seasoning the pan. When I called customer service, they said the easiest way to season the pan is to cook bacon in it.Any excuse to eat bacon is usually a good one.I did manage to properly season my pan and I do not have problems with sticking. The glass lid is nice.It has a tiny hole in it to allow steam to escape.

I have been looking for a large, high quality skillet, electric frying pan for a while.I decided to replace my current non-stick pan because it just didn't work right. It didn't get hot enough and scratched easily. The last time i used it i got so frustrated i unplugged it and walked out the door and threw it in the trash, still hot.so i began to research. You know, all of the pans at target, sears, williams sonoma are just junk.i guess people are just settling for lower quality items. Not me.I wanted a stainless steel pan.Non-stick is just not cutting it.anyway i read some of the negative reviews on this pan and was hesitant. So i called the company and was greeted by a very friendly woman that put my concerns to rest.i got the pan and messed up the seasoning process.I again called the company and was told to use a brillo pad but not while the pan was in water. If the pan is under water the steel fragments get inside the plug elements and short out.Anyway, i used the pad, came out great and then seasoned it by cooking a pound of bacon in it.I was set to go.I cooked summer sliced squash dipped in a egg wash and then seasoned bread crumbs and fried them in olive oil at about 325 degrees. (kind of an italian thing) The results were outstanding. The squash browned perfectly. It heated evenly and retained its temperature throughout the process.Cleaning was a breeze.I just slowly added about a cup of water, let it come to a boil and deglazed the pan.It was that simple.Who needs non-stick.That stuff is not a healthy product.I really had to look hard for this pan and would not settle for second best.I knew what i wanted and found it with this item.If you want a VERY LARGE, QUALITY pan then this is for you.Someone mentioned the sharp edge on the top ridge but i don't see that at all.The only problem, if it is one, is that there is no mark as a temperature guide setting.I called and asked and was informed that the light indicator is the mark.i don't see a problem with where the plug is located, in fact i think it is a logical place because if you are going tomove the pan you should unplug it.Its a great pan.I am a woodworker and my wife thought it hilarious that instead of asking for some type of tool for my birthday i wanted an electric frying pan.Oh yeah, it does a great job frying italian peppers.Life is good.

I found Publix employees cooking with this skillet. They don't want anything else.I admired it for a long time, and have loved the food they've prepared in it, and now I have it for myself.I do not like cooking, but I have cooked something every day with it. And cleanup is so easy, really, just wipe it clean.I am so delighted with it and hope not to have to deal with my glass top stove again. The food is so tasty in this skillet and it is so pretty.

I've waited years to get one, and now I have the perfect one.

Cuisipro Splatter Guard

Cuisipro 13-Inch Splatter Guardthey've really thought out this product.not only is it solidly constructed, but the mesh is extremely tight and the legs prevent it from sitting directly on the counter, so you don't get oil all over your countertop.because it is all stainless, it can go right in the dishwasher.the whole thing makes sense!

Love this for all that it does. The feet keep it off the counter, and it's lightweight, yet stays in place.

Hamilton Beach Nonstick Contempo Saucepans

Hamilton Beach 94106 Contempo 2 Quart Covered Sauce Pan, Stainless SteelBeware that the "Stainless Steel" color listed for the 2-qt. Hamilton Beach saucepan is NOT non-stick.It is not actually a "color;" it is a different material from the "Black" color (which is truly nonstick).I had to return the former and order the latter.Have the black one in hand now: it is pretty nice, medium-light weight, has nice steel grooved bottom to even heat conduction (haven't tested this property yet).My qualm is that the handle is rather too long: not necessary to have that looped part at the end, and it takes up extra cupboard space. Also, the lid fits poorly -not a tight fit.But passable for ~$20.

I was looking for a stainless steel covered saucepan with a non-stick cooking surface and this one caught my eye after a lot of shopping. When it arrived, I was highly disappointed that nowhere on the packaging did I see references to a non-stick cooking surface although the title of the product on Amazon is described as "Hamilton Beach Nonstick Contempo Saucepans".The quality of this product appears decent and it would be unfair to rate it on just the bad description on this site, so on that basis I gave it a 3; but I'm still returning it as it doesn't fit my needs.Another reviewer apparently had the same experience.

Winware Stainless Steel Fry Pans

Winware Stainless Steel 14 Inch Fry PanI'm picky about my pans, but unfortunately bought this product without fully researching it, which I have now done after the fact. Before getting into that, Amazon originally listed this item in the shipping section as 20 pounds.I knew that had to be a mistake. They subsequently corrected this, and now that I have the pan, it actually weighs around one pound. My husband thought it was of a good weight for cooking; I think it's a little lighter than it should be.It's also listed as an 8 inch pan, but be aware that your existing 8 inch lids won't fit it correctly; I know because I had three different lids and thought that one of them would surely fit, but none of them do.

If you want to research this Winco (not "Winware" as Amazon has it listed) product or any others in this line, here is the web information:www.wincodwl.comI provide this because "Winware" is the wrong name (the label on the pan says Winco), and this pan doesn't come up easily on a Google search; you have to look for it.The company's toll free number is: 1-888-946-2682.The Winco product number, which you will need (not provided by Amazon) is SSFP-8.I would strongly encourage you to fully research any Winco products before you buy them.

The two major things I was looking for was the gauge of the stainless steel and whether this pan would go in the dishwasher. This information is not provided either on the Amazon page or on the product label, so I was hopeful for good news, but it wasn't.Most high quality pans are a level of 18 gauge stainless steel, preferably 18/10.This pan is 20 gauge. The lower the gauge number, the thicker the steel, meaning that this pan is thinner than most quality cookware. The customer service representative did say that this pan uses induction heat, if that is important to you.I did give it the acid test, making scrambled eggs with cream cheese, and it worked okay and cleaned up well. Also, this pan will tolerate the dishwasher.

From an appearance standpoint, this is a cheap looking pan. It's made in China, and it shows. The handle is riveted on, and I'm wondering whether it with stand up to normal use.I will revisit this review after I have used it for several months, but my initial outlook is pessimistic.Amazon currently has this pan on sale for $14.88.If I had this to do over, I wouldn't buy the pan at all, but having it, I think it's worth about $10 given the gauge of the steel and that conventional 8 inch lids will not fit it.

September 10, 2011 update:This pan has held up better than expected, although it does not get too much use.The handle is sturdy (no flex) and the pan's finish has held up through dishwasher cleaning.I still would not recommend spending the current price for this pan, however.

Good Quality pan.

I bought this pan in summer 2010, in spite of an earlier review.Maybe the product changed since previous review, but I find the current item to be of good construction. It's solidly made, and appears to use the high-quality stainless specified (18/10 grade top notch material).Perfectly acceptable for home use, low price.

EDIT:I forgot to say, 18/10 stainless means the base steel contains 18% chrome and 10% nickel (nominal). This is an expensive grade, and under normal use you shouldn't need to worry about corrosion for a couple thousand years or so.Also, the pan won't melt until you get it up to ~2800*F +/-.Good stuff.FYI

Buy Winware Stainless Steel Fry Pans Now

This is my second purchase of this skillet/frying pan (son wants one). I purchased this same one last year and love it. It is much easier to fry larger batches without spilling all over the stovetop and I found a lid here on Amazon that fit perfectly Danesco Gastronome Pro Stainless Steel 14-Inch Diameter Lid. I can't imagine how I lived without a skillet this large but now that I have used one, I will ensure I always do! It doesn't require a lot of heat. As a matter of fact, if you use too high heat it will cause food to stick.I have a gas stove and cook at the lowest setting but then I have no trouble. If you are used to stainless this pan won't cause you any trouble. If you're not used to it, now you know use lower heat!It is a wonderful addition to my kitchen.

7Pc Stainless Steel Cookware Pot Pan Set With Lids

7Pc Stainless Steel Cookware Pot Pan Set With LidsThe cookware set looks the same as the picture on this Amazon listing. I haven't used it yet. Looks good and new.

Update: one of the pots (with one handle) warped and rusted after a few uses only. Disappointed. Had to throw it out.

Update #2 (Dec 2012): All of them have rusted and I had to throw all the pots away.

It is a small set, but the pans are beautiful! I had a set of stainless steel pans with metal handles, and whenever the pan gets hot the handles burn my hands so I have to wear gloves just to make soup. These pans however, have plastic handles which are much easier to handle without getting burned. It's a really great price for this kind of quality.

Calphalon Contemporary Stainless-Steel 2-Quart Chef's Pan with Glass Lid

Calphalon Contemporary Stainless-Steel 2-Quart Chef's Pan with Glass LidFirst of all, in case you're concerned, let me say that the quality of Calphalon's stainless cookware has greatly improved as they have recently made the switch from not-so-good impact-bonded stainless bottom (Simply Stainless) to a tri-ply construction that's on par with All-Clad.

As a result, this pan offers very good heat retention and distribution (i.e. no hot spots), and clean-up is a breeze. Since I got this pan, I have been using it for every thing from small batches of soup, cheese sauce for mac'n'cheese, spinach filling for spanakopita... And with that rounded bottom, I cannot wait to make risotto!

Also, the glass lid fits very nicely and makes it easy to watch what's going on inside your pan.

This is not just a great value for the price -it's a great pan, which just happens to have an unbeatable price.

This item is a great starter to the Calphalon Contemporary Stainless Steel cookware line. It's a solid product that looks great and functions as it's pricier siblings. Cooking with this has been a pleasure and don't be surprised if you end up buying the rest of the cookware in the series. I should not that the pot gets hot very fast and the handle can be hot but is rather cool towards the end.

If you have a hanging pot-rack, then this would make you very happy.

One last thing, if you were wodering why the item is so cheap, well, it's meant to hook you into buying more... It has the same build quality as the rest of the cookware in the line.

I've had this pot for about a month now, and use it often. The handle on the pot stays cool, it's a great size, the shape is perfect for stirring, the see-through lid is wonderful, and the price is excellent. My only complaint is that it's been hell to clean.I don't have a dishwasher, so I scrub (and scrub and scrub) by hand, but there always seems to be a thin film of whatever food I was cooking stuck to the bottom (even with overnight soaking), and the inside becomes weirdly discolored even after I clean it, from doing non-messy things like boiling pasta.Bar Keeper's Friend helps a bit, but this pot literally takes me 15 minutes to even get it passably clean (forget new-looking/shiny).

This pan caught my eye because it's so attractive and it had a great price. The glass lid is a plus, too. It's wondeful, I used it to cook rice the first time I used it and the water boiled so quickly, a fraction of the time it takes with the other pans we have.Cleaning the pan was very simple, didn't have the use an SOS.The only complaint I have is that the bottom was already discolored after one use with a blue-green pattern.

I was looking to replace my old non-stick skillet that I used primarily for cooking eggs. The old one had lost its non-stick coating. When I saw this one recommended on America's Test Kitchen over all the other contenders, most of which cost quite a bit more, I bought it. I don't regret buying it. The non-stick works very well and, while not thick as many I have used, it heats evenly without hot spots. I will soon buy another one.

Light weight, easy to clean, non-stick surface is durable and works, nice shape and depth for omelets and eggs or grilled sandwiches. Cooks evenly, good heat distribution. One of the better pans of this type I have bought, this is my 2nd one.

Circulon Contempo Stainless Steel Nonstick 10-Piece Cookware Set

Circulon Contempo Stainless Steel Nonstick 10-Piece Cookware Set ()We've enjoyed using a wonderful copper core stainless cookware set for several years. Then a year and a half ago, I opted to test the Circulon Contempo 10-piece hard anodized nonstick cookware set even though my expectations were low. However, I was surprised by how well the anodized cookware set performed. When offered the dishwasher safe Circulon Contempo 10-Piece stainless steel nonstick cookware set, I eagerly accepted, not realizing how different these two Contempo sets would be.

The Circulon Contempo stainless steel nonstick cookware set, oven safe to 400°, is suitable for solid plate, ceramic, gas, radiant ring, halogen, glass and induction cooking surfaces. This 10-piece cookware set, made in China, comes with 8.5"/21.5 CM and 10"/25.4 CM sauté pans, 1/0.9 and 2/1.9 Qt/L covered saucepans, a 3 Qt/2.8 L covered sautoir (straight sided sauté pan), and an 8 Qt/7.6L covered stockpot.Even though there isnt a lid for the 10" sauté pan, either the stockpot or covered sautoir lid can be used. The polished stainless steel exterior encapsulates an aluminum base for superior heat distribution, and uses basic professional construction with comfortable silicone covered stainless steel handles. The interior of each pot/pan includes a metal utensil safe hard anodized food release system with high low wave technology. Clear shatter resistant tempered glass lids boast decorative silicon and stainless steel handles and stainless steel rims.

Caring for this set is pretty simple.Avoid sliding the pans on the cook top, use a similarly sized burner, and use a low to medium heat setting.Store pans separated with paper towels to prevent scratching.Don't use nonstick sprays and keep use of oil to a minimum.Don't cut with sharp knives or poke with pointed items in the pans.Don't use oven cleaners; make a paste from baking soda and water to remove stains.

The Circulon Contempo stainless steel nonstick cookware set heats up quickly and evenly distributes heat, while the handles stay cool to the touch on the cook top.The TOTAL food release system consists of circular ridges on the bottom of the pans, and works remarkably well.Additionally, the polished stainless steel cookware set provides a guaranteed lifetime of performance and satisfaction.

The silicone covered long double riveted stainless steel handles provides a good grip and includes a fold out ring for hanging. The handle rings pop out freely, but are taught to prevent movement while cooking. The lid's decorative handles flare out at the sides and arc on the top. This looks nice, but their 2" height is higher than the lids from our copper core set. This really isn't a problem until placing a pot with this domed lid with 3/4" taller profile handles into the oven. This makes a big difference in oven rack placement and how much I can fit into our 27" wall ovens.

While the glass lids allow full view of the pot's contents, they fit loosely an easily shift on the pans allowing some steam to escape. The lid problem is largely caused by the pan's construction where the rim flares out so the pan's inner and outer components can be crimped together. The sauté pans are sharply curve upwards making flipping food extremely difficult.Plus, the handles suck up water through an opening on the bottom side where attached to the pan while in the dishwasher.Later when the pan in resting on a flat surface, the water will leak out causing puddlng and leaving a removable water stain on the stainless steel surface. (See photo)Even though this set is dishwasher safe, you're practically better off washing them by hand.

I liked the polished metal look of these pans when I first unpacked the Circulon Contempo stainless steel cookware set.Features largely mirrors those of the hard anodized set, plus improved upon it by being dishwasher safe. After learning of the stainless steel cookware set's flaws, I dislike cooking with them. The attractive and more economically priced Circulon Contempo 10-piece hard anodized cookware set may not be shiny, but it's by far the better cookware set between the two.If you're looking for a hassle free quality stainless steel nonstick cookware set, this set isn't it.

PROS

TOTAL food release system

Safe for use with metal utensils

Usable on solid plate, ceramic, gas, radiant ring, halogen, glass and induction cook tops

Fold out ring in handle for hanging

Circulon Cooks! iPad app

Lifetime customer satisfaction guaranteed

CONS:

Lids fit loosely allowing steam to escape

Decorative handle a bit too tall

Handles suck up water in the dishwasher which leaks out later

()As a professional chef I often get asked and often ask myself to demo a variety of cookware for my cooking programs and culinary classes. It was a joy to see this set hit the Amazon-vine program and I looked forward to opening my box of pans the moment they hit the front porch.

First let me say they were packaged quite well and the lids fit perfectly onto the handles to allow each pan to be placed on my pot rack.In the package were a 1-quart covered saucepan, 2-quart covered saucepan, 8-quart covered stockpot, 8.5-inch french skillet and a 10-inch french skillet

This set is a great set for the average kitchen and I have enjoyed using them for a variety of tasks from omelets, stir fry's, cooking pasta all utilizing metal utensils. The coating is very durable and will take up 400 degrees in the oven without flaking off or melting the handles. The lids go well with the pans and many reviews commented that the handles are too big. I'm used to storing pans and lids aside from each other but they both work well together if you want to hang them up.

I really like the exterior finish and it's very easy to clean and maintain and has stood up to the dishwasher and scrubbing by hand.As for the interior you can burn marinara sauce, scorch milk and overcook mac and cheese till it turns black and each will simply drop out of the pan and wipe clean with little effort.

I will say that high heat cooking is out if you are not adding in a liquid or some sort of fat.You will need to get a traditional pan without a non stick coating to get a good sear, unless the pans specifically state they are non stick and made to sear, such as those from Calaphalon.

As for the price you really can't do any better for a complete set such as this. You get a great set of high quality cookware that will give you loads of versatility in the kitchen. Will this cookware set do everything if you are looking for a do it all professional set, no.Will this cookware set give the average to budding professional chef the option to get creative and have fun in the kitchen, yes.

Enjoy the set of cookware, you will not be disappointed.

()These are great. Very tough. Induction compatible. Metal utensil safe (thought I wouldn't do that), and dishwasher safe. The base is very thick and I've never better cookware for heat distribution. I was worried that the handles on the lids weren't very big and that my hand would touch the metal parts. It turns out the metal bit that connects the handle to the lid doesn't get hot at all so it's no concern at all.

I have the circulon hard anodized symmetry set as well (Circulon Symmetry Hard Anodized Nonstick Cookware Set, 11-Piece) and that is great as well. I was very curious what the difference was and why this set is cheaper:

1. These have thinner side walls. It makes no difference at all. I have pots that cost more than this set with thin walls.

2. The walls go straight up and down. The other ones were fluted to help pour without spalshing. Both sets perform admirably and honestly the is no difference performance wise.

3. The long handles on these are better, I think, because they don't collect water in the dishwasher.

Both had very nice thick bases and are really amazing. If you want to save money and don't mind the looks of this set then get this. No performance is sacrificed. The other set looks nicer however (bigger handles) and I can see why it costs a little more. Both are really really good and I'd say a good value for the quality you get.

EDIT (Sept 2012)

I don't like these as much anymore since the pots with the long handles retain water in them from the dishwasher. The water gets in where the handle attaches to the pot/pan. And when you turn the pot right side up, water slowly dribbles out for a long time. It doesn't dry in there well and the handle starts conducting heat when being used.

()Good cookware is hard to find at least at a reasonable price! The 10-piece Circulon Contempo Stainless Steel Nonstick Cookware Set seems to take care of both these requirements at once it is exceptionally good cookware and it is reasonably priced.

The set includes just about every piece you'll need for the average kitchen. There's a big 8-quart stock pot, an 8.5" French skillet, a 10" French skillet, oneand two-quart sauce pans and a three-quart covered saute pan. The lids are unique and have both a plus and a minus to mention. The plus is that the handles are very tall. They keep your hands away from the heat and splatter and they look very cool. The minus is that the handles are very tall. I know, the same feature is both a plus and a minus. The minus part is that if you need to stack the lids in such a way as to conserve space, you'll be disappointed. These handle do take up more space than conventional lids. If you have sufficient space, you will love the design, however.

This cookware set is heavy duty, made to last many years with proper care. The Circulon Contempo also uses the TOTAL Food Release System with Autograph, which is a 3-layer nonstick system from DuPont. This system enables you to use metal utensils with the nonstick surface without scratching the surface.

Universal Housewares Pre-Seasoned Cast Iron 8 .5Inch Skillet

Universal Housewares Pre-Seasoned Cast Iron 8 .5Inch SkilletLove this skillet, cook everything in it.Eggs, chicken, fish, hamburger, everything. The secret is NEVER, NEVER wash it.Clean it with paper towels and a little table salt. Flavors do not leak over after each other.Soap and water ruin the non stick ability.I use olive oil or coconut oil to cook with in mine. If anything sticks a little just let it sit then wipe it clean when cold with paper towels. Great little skillet for one person.

Skillet arrived today & I rinsed it with hot water and used it to fix tonight's dinner sausages. they browned without sticking and the pan rinsed out easily. after drying I gave it a light coat of olive oil & it's ready to use again. the pre treating from the manufacturer works fine.

We have been slowly converting to cast Iron pans with all the bad press on non stick. Who knew, my mother was right after all LOL. Anyhow, this is a really nice pan that came pre seasoned, but I still took the time to preseason it but you don't have to.

Smart Planet CDM-1 Corn Dog Maker

Smart Planet CDM-1 Corn Dog MakerThis may sound like an odd review, but we have been looking for something like this device for a long time.Hot dogs are a great kid-friendly dinner, and surprisingly low in calories and fat if you get chicken dogs.Corn dogs are tons of fun, but frying them is not only not good for you, it makes dinner heavy and greasy. We tried many times to make oven-corn-dogs, but the batter always fell off.It looked very unappetizing. This corn dog device is perfect. We mixed the batter according to the recipe, put the corn dogs (along with the batter), and a few minutes later, perfect corn dogs on a stick. The outside is crisp (with a nice texture), and the inside fluffy. As close as you can get to frying without actually frying.

It could be improved.First, while hot dogs do come in various sizes, these molds are too short for almost any hot dog.We ended up cutting off the ends of all of them, and then making a corn dog composed of 3 end pieces. It did such a nice job with cooking the bread that you couldn't tell which one wasn't a single dog.Second, it would be nice if the plates were removeable for easier cleaning.I'm still giving this 5 stars because I had an awesome dinner with it.

Overall, glad I bought it, and I would buy it again.Single use appliances are generally not my favorite, but corn dogs need this type of device, and everybody needs home-made corn dogs.

***Update 5 months later***

Wow.... still loving this corn dog maker.Same comments as above--it's not perfect, but everybody in the family looks forward to corn dog night. We use it about once every 2 weeks. We're still buying standard hot dogs, cutting off the ends, and then making a corn dog of cut-off pieces.Another reviewer suggested buying really long hot dogs and cutting them in half.I like that idea, but not sure if they make long chicken hot-dogs.Go ahead and buy this great device, get some spicy honey mustard, and enjoy!

We just got this and within minutes had to test it out.It worked perfectly and is so quick and easy to use!I personally didn't care for the first batter recipe (haven't tried the second one yet).It was good so long as there was hot dog in with every bite, but at the end where I had just dough left, it's not tasty on it's own, but that's no big deal, it's easy enough to change the recipe or use a different recipe all together.I made the first batch without even using the sticks. This will thrill my daughter who loves corn dogs, but isn't a fan of the stick getting in her way of eating it.I'm so excited to try other things with it too.I have so many ideas of what can be made with this fun gadget.I had some crescent dough in the fridge and wrapped a piece around a cheese stick and cooked that upit turned out perfectly cooked, a bit bland it needed some seasoning or a different type of dough, but you can see the possibilities. You can take any dough or batter and add something to it.Pancake/Sausage dogs, stuffed pizza sticks, put sliced apples in a sweet batter and make a kind of apple fritter on a stick.I have a beer bread recipe, and I think that would be great coating for cheese stuffed jalapenos. You could even just use cake, muffin or pancake batter and make some interesting shaped breakfast or dessert items.I have not tried this yet, but I have an idea for S'mores on a stick, use a sweet batter (like pancake, or maybe someone has an idea how to make batter that tastes like graham crackers) place several mini marshmallows on the stick, place it on the batter in the corn dog maker, sprinkle with chocolate chips, and top off with batter close and let cook. Yum.

I plan to use this for the coming school year to make homemade grab and go breakfast items (like sausage on a stick).I make a bunch up, freeze em, and my husband and daughter can just pop them in the microwave and head off to school. I can make them cheaper and healthier than the store bought ones.

update on the S'more dogs.First attempt at these FAIL.They tasted great, but made a mess. The marshmallow and chocolate melted before the dough could even cook.I'm going to change a few things and try it again.First do not use regular marshmallows cut in half, they are still too big.I was excited to make these, and this is what I had on hand.Next time I will use the mini marshmallows and freeze them on the stick before cooking This should give the batter enough time to set before the marshmallow melts. While I had chocolate chips, I also had a Hersey bar. This works perfect.Break the bar into individual pieces, and two get laid down end to end.One bar has enough pieces to fill all 6 molds. Also be careful that you do not overfill the bottom with batter.Put enough in lay down the chocolate(which would also be ideal to freeze before cooking) lay a marshmallow skewer on top of that and cover with enough batter that does not leave any chocolate or marshmallow exposed.I was a little sloppy in my process, and made a big mess. The machine cleaned up fairly easily, but I think freezing the marshmallow and chocolate before cooking is the key to having the batter set before everything starts melting. For the batter I used the included batter recipe in the book but made some changes.I used 3/4 cup white flour in pace of (instead of) of the 1/4 cup corn meal and 1/2 cup wheat flour.I upped the sugar and used two TBS Brown sugar instead of plain and 1 TBS honey. When they are done cooking use a spatula to remove from machine. Do not attempt to pick them up by the stick until they have cooled for a few minutes, otherwise they just fall apart.

Now that Morningstar has ceased making their veggie corndogs, I was desperate to find something to substitute. My daughters school serves corn dogs a lot and I try to match her menu with similar veggie items. This is perfect.I use veggie dogs instead of hotdogs and then follow the recipe for the batter. She loves them and actually I think they are better than the morningstar ones. plus, I like controlling the ingrediants to reduce sodium and other bad things.I don't feel bad about serving her these between the healthy veggie dog and the baked not fried batter. It took me a few turns to get the batter and dog placement exactly right. And as another review said, you have to cut any dog because they don't fit in the wells, but I did what he did and just used the ends of the veggie dogs to make my last corn dog.

This waffle/corn dog iron is smaller than expected.I am not sure what kind of corn dogs that they are talking about, but it surely is not the ones I grew up on.In order to use this device properly, the hot dogs have to be cut in half.Otherwise they will not fit in molds correctly. It would work better as waffle/corn vienna sausage maker.

Another negative issue that I encountered was that steam and condensation collected behind the upper plate. This area contains the monitoring lights and some wiring, which also eventually filled with condensation.

And lastly, the temperature of the iron plates seem to fluctuate and maintaining a proper cooking temp proves difficult for this unit.

This machine makes it so easy to make corn dogs.Mine were veggie dogs and YUM!I didn't use the recipe included to make the batter made my own (Trader Joe's cornbread mix works well too although it is a bit on the sweeter side).

The reviews on Amazon were so helpful. One guy said 7 minutes of cook time seemed to be the charm boy was he correct 7 minutes is perfect. He also said do not be afraid to make a mess and really slop and cover your dogs again right mine turned out shaped well and browned all around and it was not TOO messy to clean up either.( I like to add some extra batter to in between the hotdogs just before I close the machine that way nothing gushes out the back of the machine just into the wells and my dogs are always well shaped and cooked.)

Also you will have to cut 1/3 off of each dog.Works out well because you use 2 of the pieces left over to make another corndog.4 hotdogs made 6 corndogs. That is the main con of this item it is not full sized...

Another tip I let my machine heat up a full 10 minutes prior to cooking. There ARE heating elements in the top of the machine you just have to use enough batter to plump to reach the top.Plus letting them cool slightly for about one minute (with the machine open and unplugged) before removing them helps keep them whole too.

I also learned a trick to get the corndogs out in one piece.I didn't use sticks, by the way just hot dogs and batter.Anyway after 7 minutes open it up, let them cool slightly, then start at the front using your fingers and carefully wiggle each corndog a bit to help free it then just rock and roll the front one off of the cook surface right onto your plate. For the others roll them forward into each empty well until you can roll them out on your plate. They all turned out perfectly that way.Just make sure you spray your wells with Pam or other cooking spray so they do not stick and come out easy.

I would definitely recommend this item although there could be some improvements (mainly the size) another would be real recipes and better instructions and even easier clean-up.

The only recipe included is 1 for the cornbatter. The description says you can also make "cheese on a stick, pizza on a stick, snickers on a stick and more" that may be but you are on your own. There were no recipes included other than for the corbatter on a teeny tiny safety phamplet.

It is not terribly hard to clean up either but it could be a lot better. If the cooking plates were removable that would be nice especially since there is a small gap between the plates and the machine itself. If you get any of the batter into this space you will have to use a toothpick like I did to get the batter out.Not too, too terrible but could be easier if made a little better.

Even brought it over to my parents house and my dad said "Why in the world did you buy that?" and "Who cares that much about corn-dogs?" that is until I made him some. : )

Enjoy!

To recap BIG Prosa few cons...

Con not full sized corn dogs BUT Pro easier to store small machine

Con instructions and 'recipes' a joke there are virtually none

Con small gap between plates and machine and plates not removable

Anolon Advanced 5.5-Quart Covered Saucier

Anolon Advanced 5.5-Quart Covered SaucierI bought this pan to replace another Anolon Advanced pan we'd had for 5years.After that many years of almost daily use, the old pan was letting food stick. Our old pan wasn't curved at the bottom more flat with straight sides but I remember it cost well over $100 even back then as it's also a large 5-quart.The helper handle is very useful.$50 is dirt cheap for a pan of this quality. When this one dies I'm sure we'll get another one just like it.

We were given this as a wedding gift 3 years ago.It was an off-registry gift, but has become our favorite hands-down.I find myself using it every other day.It has become my go-to pot for most main stove-top dishes.3 years in, it has only 1 or 2 superficial scratches and the non-stick finish is still going strong. At this price, I plan to purchase a few for my sisters.

This is a large sided saucier and works very well when you have something that needs to be stirred or mixed frequently when you cook.Doesn't quite replace the stir fry pan but is a close second if you need just one pan.I use this when I do up several pounds of ground beef or sausage. The high sides protect me from my wife as I spill less from the pan into the stove. Very good price and the pans last for years.

Overall, this pan appears to be very well made and may a great pan for many people. However, it has one problem that is a show-stopper for me. I have found that the bottoms of this pan and many of these types of aluminum non-stick pans are not flat. They may look flat and will sit on a ceramic-glass cooktop without wobbling. However, if a straight edge is placed on the bottom, often a sizable gap will be noticeable in the middle of the pan. After buying a number of these types of pans, I am guessing that this problem is due to the particular manufacturing process. The ceramic-glass cooktop manufacturers usually recommend that the bottom of a pan should be perfectly flat when used on these type of cooktops. When pan whose bottom is not flat is used on these cooktops, very distinct hot and cooler spots causing irregular cooking. This could eventually damage the pan or possibly, the cooktop.

I found that pans made of CAST aluminum tend to be very flat on the bottom and cook evenly.
