Lodge Color Enamel Cast Iron 8 inch Square Panini Press, Caribbean Blue

Lodge Color ECPP43 Enameled Cast Iron Square Panini Press, Island Spice Red, 8.5-inchThe weight and size is phenomenal.I put the panini press on a burner while I warmed up the other skillet, turned off both burners, added a sandwich, and after much sizzling and 6 minutes it was a perfect panini.

The color however doesn't match the photo. I was hoping for a bright emerald green, but it is a dark hunter green. It's not a deal breaker.

But the real problem from Lodge "America's Original Cookware" is that this is made in China.I've been avoiding cookware from China because of concerns about lead in the enamel glazes. These suspicions may be unfounded but if lead can turn up in toothpaste & baby food, cookware can't be far behind. So enameled cast iron from Martha Stewart and Batali were out, and so I opted for the pricier Le Crueset & Staub. Lodge seemed like an excellent American product. I'll keep this piece but it will be the last one.

This was purchased as a gift for my wife off of her wishlist.

This product does exactly as stated. It's a good weight that's easy to handle but adequate to press.

The press is easy to clean especially for those used to cleaning cast iron.

I would recommend paring this with the Lodge Grill Pan

If you're looking for a grill press to do the job this one is an economical winner.

We had been wanting a larger press, but didn't want to spend a fortune on one.

I've tried the cast aluminum ones and they just don't have enough weight to handle all jobs.

This press from Lodge is priced right and looks good.

I can use it in a large skillet or on the stovetop grill.

From sandwiches to bacon to steaks, it gets the job done and didn't cost an arm and a leg.

What you want with a panini press is weight, an oven friendly handle and width enough to cover your food especially if you use it for more than grilled sandwiches. The Lodge is the heaviest I've found for an item that is a 5th the cost of competing Staubor LC products. (I paid $20 for mine in brown). The prices varies by color so click on all the options before you buy.The pork chops I make with this and the lodge grill pan are AMAZING. I would not buy any other grill press .. ever. Hint.. pre-heat your press either in the pan on on open flame (on low) for an even better grill exp.

I bought this Panini Press more as a want than a need and I am extremely happy I did. I had purchased the Lodge Emerald green grill pan with it as well. They work fantastic as a set. This Panini Press (5lbs) is about 2.5lbs heavier than the one Le-Creuset offers and works better. I use it to make grilled cheese, paninis (obviously), a bacon press (which keeps the splatter down i might add), and about 100 other uses. I have a glass cooktop and I do put this directly on a burner and let it heat up while I cook in the grill pan. After I take it off the burner tho and make contact with food I just leave it in the grill pan after that if it needs to be reheated for whatever reason. I am extremely happy with this product. I use refined peanut oil on this to give it a non-stick coating. Refined peanut oil has a very high smoke point so because this can get pretty hot I prefer it over EVOO in this particular case. (also I apply the oil AFTER its been warmed up to prevent making a mess on my stove top). This product comes with the plastic handle which for all intents and purposes works fine. All the other Lodge Enameled products (as of January 2012) come with the stainless steel handle.

Lodge Color vs Lodge L-series: I talked directly to their customer service to get the low down on this subject. Both sets are enameled the same way by the same vendor with the same amount of enameled layers. They obtain the same quality control. Other than the obvious shape and color differences the only thing that separates the 2 sets are the stainless steel handles and embellishments on the L-series. I was also told by customer service that they are phasing out the L-series and are going to continue to move forward with the Color series.

Just an FYI the Emerald Green is a little darker than the Le Creuset Fennel Color if you are looking to match the two sets. You might notice more of a difference in color between the Lodge's dutch oven and Le Creuset's French oven (same thing) but overall they are quite close in color. But between the skillets you wont notice hardly any difference unless you examined them right next to each other. They actually match quite well. I own Le Creuset pieces in Fennel and Lodge Color pieces in Emerarld Green. I have not seen either out perform the other.

Lincoln Wear-Ever® Standard Duty Half-Size Sheet Pan 18 Gauge

Lincoln Wear-EverĀ® Standard Duty Half-Size Sheet Pan 18 GaugeThe pan you want, as recommended in the Cooks Illustrated November 2007 issue, was the Lincoln Wearever HEAVY DUTY 13 Guage 1/2 sheet pan, model 5314.The pan sold on Amazon is the Standard Duty 18 guage, and is considerably lighter, and much more prone to warpage.Lincoln Foodservice was bought out by Vollrath, and is now the Vollrath Wearever Model 5314, .

I love love love these sheet pans; They bake and roast everything and anything beautifully and are easy to clean.Dark colored pans burn your foodand nonstick never browns anything. The weight and color of these are perfect.I have one for roasting vegetables(I usually put a piece of parchment to line the pan altho not necessary; but do toss the cut up veges with oil) at 500 degrees; the veges come out golden and done inside.I bake any cookie recipe on this (also on parchment-altho not necessary) and the cookies come out golden and perfect.I've roasted pieces of chicken; I've made chicken wings.Just incredible pans. does not warp and still using them August 2012.at 500 +degrees it might give a bit but goes right back to original form.and I know these are not the ones recommended in Cooks.I have those also.these work just as well.

I purchased these pans last fall because of a recomendation from Cooks Illustrated magazine. I was not dissapointed! These area heavier weight and they do not warp. Wash by hand, as dishwasher detergent disscolors the pans. Order more than two, you can use them in so many ways! I could not find these in stores.

Count me as another person who bought this on the basis of a CI review. It's the best pan of its type I've ever owned. I regret buying only one. The CIA Masters 12x17 wire rack fits perfectly in it so that you can use it for roasting chicken pieces or chops with no trouble. (Make sure to use nonstick spray on the rack, and put some foil down on the sheet for easy clean-up).

It can be used as a cookie sheet, roasting pan, or jelly roll pan. Mine looks new and I've been using it for months. It's heavy and obviously excellent quality. You won't regret buying it.

I am writing to mention that the pan size is 12 x 17, not 13 x 18 as indicated in the product description. The size was important in my decision to buy, therefore this information may be important to others.

I purchased two, and am also disappointed to have to sent both back without even trying them yet one arrived dented on the bottom, and the other arrived deeply scratched (sides). Will have to reorder, as Amazon does not send replacements for this product, only refunds.

Otherwise, they appear to be very nice pans.

Hopefully you will have better luck!

14" COMMERCIAL ALUMINUM FRY FRYING PAN - NSF GRADE

14' COMMERCIAL ALUMINUM FRY FRYING PAN - NSF GRADEI really enjoy cooking with this pan because everything can be spread out to cook faster. It has an awesome non stick surface. I used the pan to fry a piece of bologna at one time and wound up chasing it around.

Lodge Pro-Logic P12S3 Pre-Seasoned Skillet, 12-inch

Lodge Pro-Logic P12S3 Pre-Seasoned Skillet, 12-inchI have to admit, one of the factors that lead me to buy the Lodge Pro-Logic 12" skillet was that it looked sexy.I read a lot of reviews, which were all generally favorable, but now, after having used it for a few weeks, I feel I might have been better off with the more classic design in the 12 inch.

A few things I'm going to keep in mind if I decide to replace this skillet include the size the 12' measurement refers to the outside diameter. When you take into account the sloped sides, the flat cooking surface is more like 8.5 8.75 inches.A friend has a "Wagner 1891 original" in a 10.5 inch and the cooking surface is the same, give or take a quarter inch. The sloped sides may also make it easier to tip food out of the skillet or maneuver a spatula, but if you're interested in this feature for tossing and flipping food then you need to be a strong person with strong wrists, or get ready to have both hands on the handle (or handles) this skillet is pretty heavy.

I was also expecting the handle to be more ergonomic, but It's broad and flat (about 1.5" wide) which turned out to be a little awkward for me.To hold it comfortably (and I have fairly large hands) I have to place the palm of my hand more fully on the underside of the handle for a more "underhanded" grip.Perhaps it's just me, but that's not usually how I hold a skillet.

The pre-seasoning works well there was a little bit of sticking the first time around, but I was expecting that. All reviews I've read about the best non-stick performance of cast iron say it simply comes from years of use.

If you want sloped side cast iron for tossing and flipping food, I would recommend the Lodge Logic 10" chef's skillet. It's smaller, lighter weight, has a nice curved version of the standard handle, and if you're a stickler for detail, you might enjoy the presence of the pour spouts, which are not on the pro-logic 12".

Experienced Cooks may like or need some of the features of the Pro-Logic, and some might like a collection of different shaped skillets made out of different materials for all sorts of cooking, but I'm just an average guy who liked the idea of buying one skillet which would last the rest of my life.I would recommend a time tested design over the update.

I always heard that if you are serious about beef steak, you cook it on hot cast iron. Well, after getting this pan, I found out this to be true. It's also great for chicken, pork, and lamb but I still prefer a non-stick surface for fish and eggs.

I also love the more contemporary styling. The only problem is the up-turned loop handle breaks off easily. I bought another one for a friend and it snapped off in shipping. I dropped my own (because I didn't use the loop handle) and again it snapped off.

Also...and this is not a criticism, just an observation...if you like traditional skillet cornbread, get the smaller (10 inch is good for this), more classically shaped style. The rounded sides of the pro logic skillet give the bread an odd flying saucer like quality.

This is a great shape for omlettes and frittatas, and is non-stick if you know how to use it. I just figured this out. You need one flat-bottom pan for searing at high heat and another (this one) for delicate, medium-heat foods like eggs and fish. I used to sear in all my cast iron but it would burn off the seasoning oils and my eggs would stick. Get rid off your cancer-causing non-stick pans and try this one. You will not regret it.

I went to Macy's looking for a cast iron skillet. They just had the small skillets and they weren't pre-seasoned. The clerk recommend that I go to Williams-Sonoma, which was in the mall. Williams-Sonoma had this skillet and it was priced at $24.

This is the first time I've seen pre-seasoned cast iron. You can use it right away! I made mac'n'cheese and broiled without having to change pots. My family said that was the best mac'n'cheese I've ever made. This convince me to purchase more Lodge Pre-seasoned pots, pans, muffin cups, etc. Amazon has them priced right and the free s&h makes it more attractive. Happy Cooking!

I had not used a cast iron skillet in many years, and due to not knowing how to care for it properly back then, it became rusty and I gave up on cast iron.

BUT, I was re-introduced to cast iron again a few months ago when I bought this skillet. I'm so glad, too: it's absolutely one of the best skillets I've ever had! The pre-seasoning makes it so easy to use and care for, and everything I've cooked in it turns out great. With minimal care, it stays in top condition. I just love it!

Most important it's easy to cook and clean with the detachable design. I believe it makes food taste better, the double sided pan helps to cook food faster and keep the juiciness of meat. Totally worth the purchase.

I think it's a must-have for every household. It can replace most of the your existing pans. I wonder if they come in other colors though.

HI,

The frying pan is working well for my family. My mum is enjoying her cooking with this new piece of addition in the kitchen. I am going get at least two more of these pans for my relatives as gifts.

The product does exactly what it is expected to do. The oil stays inside the pan. I can't be sure whether the food that comes out from it tastes better because my mum does not add too much salt and oil into the food. But I reckon it saves some gas and creates a cleaner kitchen which incidentally can be translated into fewer clean-ups.

The service staff from xFish seems friendly and promptly answers my questions with some degree of diligence.

These people are serious with what they are doing.

I'm replacing my pans, and found the Swiss Diamond in Madison, WI.It's not a true non-stick, but definitely has many of the properties of non-stick.I use a light spray of oil on it.The pan is true flat, is very conductive, and everything I was looking for.I highly recommend their product line this is the second of their pans that I have bought, and have had the same experience with both.

this is a great, strong pan, probably last a long time, but It is not nonstick like asvertized, unless you use oil or butter etc. everything sticks to it. although It cleans up readily. I personally believe there is no such thing as a true nonstick pan, as I have tried them all.

Tramontina Pro 3004 Nonstick Aluminum Restaurant Fry Pan, 14"

Tramontina Pro 3004 Nonstick Aluminum Restaurant Fry Pan, 14'the quality is everything i expected. I was very happy to find a 'made in USA' product i could cook in.

Two cons for me, but neither is the products fault: it's really big I think the 14" diameter is the base, the top flairs out to several inches more. Think of where you'll store it before you buy it.The second is common to all teflon aluminum pans -you're not supposed to cook with higher than 'medium' heat -that REALLY draws out the cooking time. Again, not the product's fault-i should have known.

Could't be happier with this product. The size of the pan and the non-stick capability was the reason I purchased it, thanks

CIA Masters Collection 7-Ply Copper Clad Stainless Steel 8 Inch Non-Stick Saute Pan

CIA Masters Collection 7-Ply Copper Clad Stainless Steel 8 Inch Non-Stick Saute PanHeavy duty, well made, well balanced non-stick saute pan.Goes from stove top to oven and then into the dishwasher. The perfect saute pan. Will probably buy more products from CIA Masters Collection based on this pan.

I ordered the CIA Masters 8" nonstick saute pan and the 3qt. saucier for use on an induction cooktopThe saucier is fantastic and I expect to get a lot of use from it.However, the base on the 8" fry pan is not flat, creating a wobble, which is made more apparent by the large, heavy handle that practically overwhelms the pan in terms of balance. While the pan will heat up (I tried boiling some water), I require a flat base for any cookware, especially when used on a glass surface.Where I could probably exchange it and get one with a flat base, I will return it for a refund and try some other brand, perhaps the Scanpan CTX for a bit more money, or even the Regalware American Tri-ply for about half the price of this CIA Masters pan. Both of these alternatives have PFOA-free nonstick surfaces. On the other hand, I am sufficiently impressed with the CIA Masters 3qt saucier pan that I intend to eventually get their 10" regular saute/fry pan.

Cheers, and happy cooking!

Pros: best pots and pans for the price we've found

Cons: none

After buying the full set of Rachael Ray cookware and using it for years, I've given out 3 other sets as birthday and Christmas gifts to friends and family.

I've only used it a few times but, so far, I really like this skillet. It's smaller than I thought it would be.The 10" is from the top rim and not the base of the skillet.I hope the surface lasts without scratching easily.Time will tell.I'm going to go ahead and order the 12", though.
