Farberware Nonstick 11-Inch Deep Skillet

Farberware Nonstick 11-Inch Deep SkilletIt's not as deep as it looked from the picture. Just the cover is very deep.

I love this pan.It is a substantial pan, not light in weight but not cumbersome either. While it really is not what I would call a deep frying pan, it does have a dome like top which will allow for largerpieces of meat to be cooked. I have found that square pans are much more functional than round, finding square pans is difficult. You can cook 5 to 6 burgers at one time verses 3 in a round pan and 5 pork chops verses 3 in a round pan.It is easy to clean. I have12 inch and10 inchRevere wear copper bottomfrying pans both with covers and they are now in the box marked GARAGE SALE!Because of it's shape it is also easier to store. Everything I have cooked in this pan hasdone very nicely and of course there is the price you can't go wrong for $8.80.

Not impressed with the size. Very shallow. I would return this this if I would have purchased this at a bick and morter store. Very cheap quality for farberware. You can do better just as well as buying one from wal-mart.

Orgreenic Frying Pan - 12" Frying Pan

Orgreenic Frying Pan - 12' Frying PanThe non-stick quality of this pan is very good so far. It really only needs to be wiped out with a damp cloth. BUT it is not flat on the bottom. Therefore, it does not heat well on a ceramic cooktop and the contents of the pan slide to the center. I would love it if it were only flat.

This review is from: Telebrands Orgreenic, 10-Piece Set (Kitchen)

I cancelled a previous Amazon Review of the OrGreenic pans so that I could write about an interesting discovery. THERE ARE DIFFERENT KINDS OF ORGREENIC PANS BEING SHIPPED OUT BY TELEBRANDS EVEN IN THE SAME SHIPMENT.

I AM NOT GOING TO RATE THE COOKING SURFACES BECAUSE IT WOULD NOT BE LOGICAL TO DO SO SINCE YOU MAY NOT HAVE THE SAME ORGREENIC PANS THAT I DO. I HEARTILY SUGGEST THAT PERSONS INTERESTED IN NEW, SAFER NON-STICK COOKWARE PURCHASE FROM NAME BRANDS THAT HAVE A TRACK RECORD IN THE COOKWARE INDUSTRY. Also, at the end of this review I am including excerpts of the OrGreenic warranty, which is NOT the same thing TeleBrands SAYS in their advertisements. On their website and in their commercials, they say, "If Orgreenic ever dulls or damages, even if it is your fault, we'll replace it" and "Your cookware will last a lifetime or we'll replace it". (I was totally unable to find a copy of the warranty online.)

_______________________________________________________________________________________

My first order for OrGreenic pans was via the internet in response to a television ad (not an infomercial I have never watched an infomercial on the OrGreenic pans). The special offer was 2-10" "frying" (saute) pans (with the usual single handle) and a larger 12" dual-handled saute pan. The $$$ deal ended up being good for 3 pans even if they had been Mirro (the brand I usually purchased and discarded when worn out).

When those 3 pans arrived, due to a very junky cardboard shipping carton and inadequate inner packing, all 3 were damaged. I reported the 2 worse damaged ones since they had gouges in the cooking surfaces made by the rivets on the backs of the pans that were stacked inside of them. I expected a hassle, but the person on the phone promised immediately to replace them and did not request that I return the damaged pans.

ALL THREE OF THOSE PANS WERE IDENTICAL. The inner surfaces were identical in shade of green. The rims were "naked" of coating, and the outsides of the pans all had a gray coating that proved to be extremely delicate and scratched the first time they were used on a gas range with metal grates over the burners. Personally, I did not care that the outsides had scratched because I was only concerned with the inner coating's performance.

The replacement pans took many weeks to arrive. I received 2 postcard notices in the mail that stated, "Due to the huge demand . . . ", etc., reassuring me that the pans would be shipped as soon as possible.

When the replacement pans finally arrived, the first thing I noticed was that the handles on the dual handled 12" saute pan were at a different angle. I immediately suspected that they had gotten bent in shipping that is, until I compared the new 12" dual handled pan to the previous one. That is when I realized that I had 2 completely DIFFERENT PANS. The handles appeared to be cast on the new pan and stamped on the original pan. The inner coating on the new pan was noticeably darker, the rim was coated unlike the previous pan's uncoated rim, and the coating on the back of the pan was also different. The external coating on the new pan was much harder, and there was a pattern in it that looked much like the concentric line on an old phonograph record, rather than the plain, soft grey coating on the outside of the original 12" dual handled saute pan. The stamped in logo indicia on the bottom of the pan was also different on the new 12" dual handled saute pan from the one in the previous pan. Also, the new dual-handled 12" saute pan is slightly larger and weighs more on the scale, and noticeably so when picked up with one hand.

The new 10" saute pan was different from the previous ones, and DEFINITELY ALSO DIFFERENT FROM THE NEW 12" dual handled saute pan. It appears to be an absolutely different 3rd version of the OrGreenic pans. It has a bare rim like the original 2-10" saute pans and the original 12" dual-handled saute pan had. Its cooking surface looks similar to the original 10" pan, but the outside has yet a third version of coating and again another, slightly different logo/indicia stamped into its bottom. Its handle is different yet from any of the other pans.

Started with the smaller pan a couple of months back, cooking for two, it has its uses but wanted a large pan so bought the 12". Originally this was recommended by a friend and we're very pleased. Followed "seasoning" directions, simple. I have no idea how long the surface will last but otherwise I am very impressed with this. Omelets and the like are super easy. No problems with anything I've cooked. It is also great for hash browns, which in cast iron would either stick, burn, or be swimming in oil. I hope it lasts, but as a pretty serious cook I wouldn't want to be without it. I'm sure I'll be buying more for the holidays. Seems like the 12" skillet is pretty pricey compared to the 10" but that little bit of extra size makes quite a difference.

I LOVE this skillet. It is fantastic to cook with; especially over easy eggs. With other pans I frequently broke the yolk when flipping but this pan is so smooth the spatula just glides under egg and flips it without tearing the delicate membrane of the yolk. I have not used non stick pans for many years because I did not want to be exposed to the chemicals released from teflon et al but these ceramic pans are GREAT.... I bought two and highly recommend them. I wish the ceramic was white instead of green but I can live with the color since they are SO easy to use.

I am getting ready to purchase two 12" pans. I purchased the 10" pans from the TV ad, and this pan is fantastic. It got a lot of bad reviews elsewhere, but that is because the buyers either didn't treat the pan first, or they used heat that was too high. This pan cooks on an electric stove as fast as a gas stove. It browns beautifully and quickly ON MEDIUM HEAT. You cannot use high heat well on this pan unless you are really watching it. I do not know why the manufacturer doesn't mention that fact when they sent the pan. I can't wait to get the larger pan. This was a wonderful investment, much better than my very high-end non-stick cookware that I paid a fortune for. I wish I could get a lid, but I don't need another whole set of cookware.

Calphalon Tri-Ply Collector's Edition 12-Inch Everyday Pan with Lid

Calphalon Tri-Ply Collector's Edition 12-Inch Everyday Pan with LidI wanted a stainless steel pan to replace the various brands of coated non-stick skillets I own that seem to scratch and lose their non-stick properties over time despite meticulous care. The Calphalon 12-inch everday pan meets that need and more.

Admittedly, before purchase I was skeptical about the non-stick claims made about this pan.If one follows the manufacturer recommendations to preheat the pan before adding food to it, I find that most foods do not stick. Some foods (mainly meats) stick a little, but they clean off readily with soapy water and a soft-scrub sponge.A new-like shine can be maintained with Barkeeper's Friend.

If you simply want a skillet, there are many other pans that would work quite well, but what sets this pan apart from those skillets is the high-dome glass lid and short side handles that make it a great brazier. You can prepare tender, thick pork chops that will cut with a fork by putting them in this pan with about 1/2" of water in the bottom, covering with the lid, and baking them in the oven at 325 degrees for a couple of hours. And the pan will come clean easily. The glass domed lid retains moisture in the pan very well, which keeps foods moist and tender during the cooking process.

For those who like to fry foods, this pan is a great choice.Unlike coated non-stick pans and skillets, you can cook with as much heat as you want without worrying about damaging the pan.The pan and lid are rated to handle up to 450 degrees.

The size of this pan can be a plus or a minus depending upon the amount of food you want to cook. The 10-inch version of this pan, which sells for about $20 less, would probably be sufficient for one or two people cooking small meals.Even though there are only two in our household I find myself using this 12-inch pan, however, instead of a 10-inch skillet because I can cook without worrying about food spilling over and/or make enough for leftovers. It is also a handy size for cooking small roasts with the lid on or off.

The pan has nicely tapered edges that make for dripless pouring of liquids from the pan.I use oven mitts to hold the glass lid slightly ajar against the pan to strain liquids. The weight of the lid makes this a little awkward, but it is made easier with the two side handles.A lightweight aluminum splatter cover might work better for this, but I tend to minimize the number of items that I care to wash after cooking by using the lid instead.

One handy feature of this pan which is also a negative is the short side handles. They are wonderful for baking things in the oven, and a pan this size would be heavy and awkward to lift with a single long handle (I own a 12-inch non-stick skillet with a handle, and it is very heavy and takes great strength to hold a lid against it to drain off liquids). The downside, though, is the short handles get quite hot with cooking heat above a simmer making usage of potholders or oven mitts a necessity for safe handling. If Calphalon would create handles that could remain cool during cooking, this pan would be perfect.

If you enjoy cooking, want a versatile pan that can be used equally well on the range or in the oven, want relatively non-stick cooking without the hassles of coated non-stick cookware, and want it to last forever, you will be very happy with the Calphalon 12-inch everday pan.I know I am.

I purchased a custom collection of Calphalon tri ply pieces in the past six months, starting with smaller pans and working my way up. I am so IN LOVE with them. This everyday pan is a workhorse and you simply cannot beat the ease of cleaning.Once you get used to it, cleaning the stainless (versus nonstick) is just as easy and better because it is dishwasher safe.Stainless versus nonstick is now my preference virtually all of the time. For skillet chicken, this is the absolute best you can do for a perfectly browned end result.I have one piece of All-Clad and I can tell you honestly that I PREFER the Calphalon tri ply to it though ALL Clad is definitely exceptional. You will not regret this purchase.

Breville XX800GRXL Factory-Reconditioned Die-Cast Indoor Barbeque and Grill, Stainless

Breville XX800GRXL Factory-Reconditioned Die-Cast Indoor Barbeque and Grill, StainlessThis is the 2nd generation model, I have the 1st at home and use it CONSTANTLY!I use it to grill meat (any kind), as a panini press (from fancy Cubanos to 5-minute grilled cheese for my four-year-old), as a quesadilla maker, and recently discovered its true hidden talent...bacon.Cooks it faster, crisper and leaner than any fry pan.The only negative is cleanup; the cooking surfaces aren't removable so you have to wash and rinse them without getting too much water near the electrical components on the bottom of the grill.

NOT just a fancy Foreman.I had one of those and it doesn't compare.First and foremost the biggest difference is the floating hinge.Try grilling something thick on a Foreman and it'll cook the sides unevenly since it can't close around the whole steak. Also this gets much hotter (1500 watts). And finally the nonstick surface on this is very good in its durability (no nicks or marks after 3 years of heavy use) and its nonstick-edness.If you grill a sandwich with cheese and the cheese melts out the side, it will actually stay with the sandwich rather than stick to the grill!

Looks like this one is reconditioned and I bought mine new so I can't speak to the condition. But if mine broke today I'd drop the $180 for a new one in a heartbeat.

I've tried several similar grills and in my opinion, this grill is very good but not perfect.

Pros:

1. Large surface area. You can cook a lot of food on this grill. This is also a con as I explain below.

2. This grill gets hot enough to sear meats. Some other grills (including George's) do not get hot enough to do this.

3. Non removable grill plates. This is both a pro and a con. Because they can't be removed, the plates also can't accidentally fall off. Other Breville grills have this problem.

4. Sturdy, quality build.

Cons:

1. It's a big grill. When I raise the top, it hits the bottom of my cabinets. Also, it takes up a lot of surface on the counter making it cumbersome to store and to cook with. This grill takes up a lot of space.

2. Non removable grill plates. This makes the plates more difficult to clean than removable ones. This also makes them impossible to replace.

3. Timer does not turn the grill off.

Bottom Line:

I believe that the major deciding factor on whether to buy this or not is the size of the grill. If you have the space, this grill will suit you fine. It cooks everything from from sandwiches to steaks beautifully. But if you have a small kitchen with limited counter space and storage area, you might want to consider something else.

Buy Breville XX800GRXL Factory-Reconditioned Die-Cast Indoor Barbeque and Grill, Stainless Now

Being greatly disappointed by the Cuisinart GR-4 Griddler, I searched for a quality replacement and found the Breville 800GRXL Die-Cast Indoor Barbeque and Grill. The Griddler and Breville 800GRXL can prepare the same foods, but are design differently.

The 1500 watt Breville 800GRXL heats up quickly and evenly. The griddle plate on the bottom and a grill/Panini plate on top are not removable. The grill/Panini plate swivels to accommodate thicker food, and when laid out flat angles to drain juices into the pull out dishwasher safe drip tray. The bottom plate has an adjustable tilt for draining as well. The temperature can be adjusted from 350 to 450 degrees, plus a convenient timer is included.

The stainless steel Breville 800GRXL is a bulky kitchen appliance compared to the Griddler.Measuring 14.5 x 19.25 inches, the 800GRXL takes up a lot of counter space. When opening the grill to lay flat, the bottom of our upper cabinets are in the way of doing so.I either try to use the grill on the bar area or pull it partway off the counter top and balance it while opening. The majority of our lower cabinets have a 10 inch wide opening, making storage an issue as well.We either lug the Breville 800GRXL to the pantry or leave it resting on the countertop. The Griddler by comparison weighs less and is compact, eliminating the problems related to laying flat.

As much as the Breville 800GRXL's size is a problem, it is an asset as well.I can easily make 6 Paninis at once, make pancakes while grilling ham or bacon, or grill burgers while toasting the buns and grilling onions. At first I was concerned with having fixed plates, swapping plates on the Griddler seemed like an advantage. However the larger cooking surface area and versatility of the fixed plates are far more advantageous when cooking.Removable plates also seemed to be a clear advantage for clean up, however the Breville 800GRXL typically requires a quick wipe down to clean pushing the debris into the drip tray.Additionally the temperature of the plates is far more consistent than the Griddler.

Considering the price of the Griddler, the Breville 800GRXL costs three times as much.Is it fair to compare the two appliances?I think it is, as they both attempt to provide the capabilities. The Griddler is more economical choice when purchasing, however in my case the Griddler didn't perform well and only lasted a little over year.Considering I've been using the Breville 800GRXL regularly since Dec 2006, the cost of use is comparable at this point, and undoubtedly will become the better economic choice.Unlike the Griddler, the Breville 800GRXL has been performed well and lasted much longer.I would highly recommend paying the extra and purchasing the Breville 800GRXL over the Griddler.

PROS:

Long lasting

Even temperature

Easy to clean

Versatile kitchen appliance

Stainless-steel body

CONS:

Heavy and bulky

The size doesn't work well with our kitchen cabinets

First, the advertisement says it has a 'nonstick aluminum cooking surface'.The instruction manual says it's a coating called quantanium.I purchased it for the (assumed less toxic) aluminum but it appears to be some kind of coating. It does clean unusually easily however.

The timer sounds a bell but doesn't shut off power. All that metal gets fairly hot. Can't move it as easily after use as my Hamilton Beach grill. The drip tray is of excellent quality but is 14 " long and so could be easier to handle and clean.

It does work properly. It doeshave extra features like the variable temp and the center pivoted top plate.

Want Breville XX800GRXL Factory-Reconditioned Die-Cast Indoor Barbeque and Grill, Stainless Discount?

I bought this to replace a big old Foreman grill that was losing its antistick coating. This is not as big as that really big Foreman grill (which could cook eight burgers). This can cook six burgers. But the difference is in the juiciness!

The Breville gets much hotter, sears better, cooks quicker and produces much tastier burgers.Steaks, too.

Cleanup is as easy as the Foreman but there are more drips over the back edge to clean off the table.

Lost one star for capacity and drips.

Bialetti Aeternum Saute Pan

Bialetti Aeternum Saute Pan, 12-InchI have used these nano-ceramic, eco-friendly non-stick, supposedly non-toxic types of pans that are now becoming more popular. They are in fact wonderful for the first few months, until the nano-ceramic coating starts to wear off and IT DOES.The first one I had cooked eggs beautifully with no oil, they'd slide off and the pan was a dream to clean. After a while the shiny surface becomes matte and everything starts to stick.Which is inconvenient, yes.But worse is that the nan-ceramic particles must be going somewhere (into the food?) and the material underneath increasingly comes into contact with the food.I had the first one replaced by the store (Bed & Bath) and a second one did the same thing. No more nano-ceramico for me.

I bought these pans mainly because I had health concerns regarding the Teflon on my non-stick pans (Chalpalon). After reading several articles about more health concerns, I decided not to take the risks and look for alternatives. I saw an Ad in La Cucian Italiana (I'm a subscriber and I cook A LOT) and went to Amazon, read (few) raving reviews and bought three pans. I was persuaded by the fact that ceramic is non-toxic and this who-ha-ha so cool nanoceramic technology and I said to myself this is the real future of pans. Ceramic is a great cooking material for 1000s of years. Those Bialetti scientists had found a way to attach ceramic to Aluminum [that we all know how great (but toxic) it is for cooking)

I'm writing this review a month and a half into using these pans.

The good

-Great looks

-Heat evenly and fast!

-real non-stick

-lightweight

The bad

The nano-ceramic coating on the Aluminum is really "nano". it is so thin that i don't think I'm familiar with a measurement unit to describe it. It is thinner than a paper. it is thinner than a hair. it is as thick as...I really can't find any familiar object that is this thin. If something will come to mind, I will add it later in the review.

Now, you probably ask yourself, how do I know that?

Because after two weeks or so, i started to notice small gray dots on the rims of one of my pans. at first I thought that this is a small grain of something. When I took a closer look, I realized that it is a small hole in the nanoceramic coating that covers --->> Aluminum.

Since it was on the rims of my pan I used the pan more until today, when I found a small hole in the coating in the middle of my pan.

Now I can tell you that the coating is so thin that you can hardly feel the hole in it with your fingers (you have to try hard to identify the hole by touch).

The holes are 10th of a millimeter in diameter, but they are there. On the rims (the top circle) I have many of them by now but I have only one hole in one pan in the center of the pan.

Now a word about me and how I handle my kitchen tools:

I never wash pans and pots in the dishwasher. I wash them always the same night after they cool down. Same is true for my knifes.

In addition, nobody washes my dishes! moreover, I only use wooden spoons when I'm cooking.

I can't believe that I was the cause for these mini holes in the pans.

One more thing to emphasize it is not a scratch just tiny holes. After say 30 days of real use. The real concern here is the Aluminum under the coating which is surely toxic.

There goes ~$100 down the drain.

I will not recommend this product to anyone.

As many reviewers have said, this pan looses its non-stick qualities in a few months (3-4) even using low to moderate heat settings. This particular item is a waste of money...

This is the greatest most convenient saute pan I've ever used by far.It cooks completely evenly and has a very solid feel to it.The insulated handle never gets warm.Nothing ever sticks to the surface, making clean up an absolute breeze. It doesn't have any of the chemical coatings whose safety has been called into question either, simply a ceramic nanotechnology--which I would call almost magical. All the starchy foods that were sticking to my other pans--potatoes, tofu, etcetera--get a brown crust but never stick.I rarely write reviews but this is the most useful piece of cookware that I own and I'm so pleased that I bought it after seeing a mention of it in my local paper.

April 18th 2013I have virtually abandoned these pans--I now use only the wok out of the set I bought.Instead, I use the Wearever ceramic pan set. They seem much more durable and less prone to staining, retaining their white properties for a much longer period of time.

I purchased the 10.25" version of this pan and for the first few weeks loved it.The nonstick coating is very easy to clean and I loved the color of the pan. However, less than a month after purchasing I too began getting chips in the middle of my pan.I emailed Bialetti's customer support to comment on this to them.I did not ask for a new pan, but simply was offering feedback, as well as inquiring about the safety of the now-chipped pan.The Bialetti representative acted as if I had demanded several free pans, asked for pictures of the defective pan (as if I would just troll the internet for unsuspecting cookware companies) and firmly stated that I would get a one-time replacement and that's it.She also stated I would have to ship my pan back at my own cost (!), although thankfully that at least went away when I sent pictures.

I did receive my one-time-only replacement pan, and it is not the same color (I really liked my black pan) AND it also has a chip, right in the middle of the pan.The poor customer service and the horrible longevity of the pan make this a no-buy.

Ecolution Artistry Eco-Friendly Fry Pans

Ecolution Artistry Eco-Friendly 11 Inch Fry PanI have used this a few times a week for several months, and the non-stick surface is performing well. The large size is great for a full meal quantity.

The nonstick surface of the somewhat more expensive Cuisinart Greenware did not perform as well as the Ecolution Artistry.

I am giving it only 4 stars because the environmental attributes of the product are not very impressive.Hydrolon appears to be a patented acrylic material that is made from non-renewable fossil fuels.

Was looking for healthly choice in non-stick at a reasonable price; with good to better quality...i found it in this line of products. Beats competition with no questions. Was very pleased how well it is balanced and handling to flip foods and the non-stick is superb. The bottom/base is perfect and true to description--use on low, med and high heat with excellent results. I took a risk and it surpassed my expectations. I've already used this pan several times and IT IS AWESOME. It's big and got more of a cooking surface than other pans its size because of the way the sides curl/curve up. I bought this pan on Amazon in May '12.

I use the pan 4-5 times a week and it is a great non-stick pan. The non-stick coating is still like new, and the pan performs like the first day I bought it.

I wish I could say the same for the rest of the pan. The handle started to get loose after a couple weeks of use, and I had to add a washer to the bolt that holds it to the pan and for now that is holding well. The enamel like coating on the outside (sides and bottom) of the pan is flaking off and the aluminum is showing.

I have deducted one star for those issues, but the business end (coating) of the pan performs so well, I would still recommend it.
