Got tired of all the scratches on my non-stick fry pans. Ordered the 8, 10 and 12 and have been very pleased so far. Evenly cooking, excellent non-stick properties and solidly made. Don't know how they wear yet but so far it looks like they'll last a long time.

This pan is most definitely the best I've used lately. The handle gets pretty hot, though. Otherwise I love it.

Scanpan Professional 10-Piece Cookware Set

Scanpan Professional 10-Piece Cookware SetWe've had this cookware for 6 months now, and so far we've been very happy with our purchase. The nonstick works great everything comes off with no effort at all, but you can still get a good sear on items if you need to, which wasn't possible in our other nonstick.I've even burnt things in these pans and it came out like it was nothing!I love that Scanpans are environmentally friendly, and I'm hoping that I'll never have to try out the return policy! So far I've not noticed any nicks on the edges, which typically is the first sign of aging. My only complaint is that the lids can get VERY hot, and with the smaller pans this can make them a little difficult to remove. However, even the lids clean up with little effort!

This cookware is great. We purchased our first set in 1991.Here is the kicker, the company stands behind the product.Just this month, Jan 2010, two of the skillets that are 19 years old started sticking. We sent them back to the company and they set us new ones.It doesn't get any any better than that. The company stands behind the Lifetime warranty. If you want to purchase your last set of cookware, get Scanpan.

We've always loved scanpans. All their products have very durable non stick surface unlike normal teflon coated pots and pans. We purchased the professional set 8 months ago as we like the steel finish to the handles and lids. whilst we have no complains about the actual cooking surface, the biggest downside is that the metal handles on the pots and lids do heat up considerably. the set came with cloth holders etc, but it's inconvenient to have to put them on each time. One of the holder actually caught fire on our stove from an adjacent burner. My mother also burned her hand once when she picked up a pan handle which was close to an adjacent burner which had been on. The lids will be too hot to touch if you've been cooking with it on, but the end of the pan handles are cool enough to touch regardless of how long you've been cooking for. Bottom line is if you have metal handles/lids, it will conduct heat.

I learned from TV news that the traditional non-stick Teflon coating cookware can break down under heat or scratch off and cause cancer. Therefore, I have not been using them at all. I had changed to all stainless steel cookware last year. However, the food stick and can got darken easily (also cancer causing) and I have to use a lot of oil for cooking. I bought a few of this Scanpan fry pan about 3 months ago and I am happy with them. Last month, I bought the Healthy Legend Ceramic Coating fry pan and soup pot and tried it for 2 weeks. The Healthy Legend cookware seems to be even better made and the ceramic coating is even better. The Healthy Legend had a German made ceramic coating call Weilburger Greblon. Compare to the Scanpan's ceramic titanium coating, they are about the same for cooking, cleaning, durability. The Healthy Legend's coating is gray color. It is no problem to me but it is not traditional black color. The color didn't change during my use. I think you can do no wrong using either brand. However, I am not sure if titanium have small health issue. However, if I don't try to scratch the coating off, it should be pretty good. The coating for both are much more resistance to scratch off than Teflon. I found on the Internet the following information (Effects of overexposure to titanium powder: Dust inhalation may cause tightness and pain in chest, coughing, and difficulty in breathing. Contact with skin or eyes may cause irritation. Routes of entry: Inhalation, skin contact, eye contact.

Carcinogenicity: The International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) has listed titanium dioxide within Group 3 (The agent is not classifiable as to its carcinogenicity to humans.)

Read more:

For now, I have total 3 Scanpans and 3 Healthy Legend ceramic coating cookwares. The Healthy Legend seems to be slightly better and cheaper. I will give you updates after a few more months.

Let me count the ways I love this product!!!

Full disclosure; I'm a burner. About one out of three times I cook oatmeal I wander off, only to return to smoking blackened cereal. Normally that leads to soaking and scrubbing, but with the Scan Pan, I simply tipped the charcoal disk into my compost. The pan was clean. A miracle.

I researched non-toxic, non-stick pans on all the healthy-food sites I could find, and they all came back with Scan Pan as the best. I love the look, the feel (not too heavy, great handles) the vented lids, the quick and efficient heating (I'm sure I'm using less gas-not kidding), and the fact I can use metal utensils. But it's the cleanup that sends me. You have to see this to believe it.

I've told our daughter that I know what she's getting for a wedding present, and she's not even engaged.

WMF Collier Cookware Set, 8-Piece

WMF Collier Cookware Set, 8-PieceI bought this set while I was attending Law school in London. I had grown accustomed to great pots and could not buy a cheap pot set so I found these in the local TJ Maxx. I even shipped them home with me after finishing school!!

WMF is known for great quality items and this pot set is the epitome of this. It is high quality stainless steel with a sandwich bottom which ensures that it does not burn right through like the ordinary cheap pots. If I am not mistaken there is a strip of copper and this is a great heat conductor which will ensure an even distribution of heat and reduce energy consumption!

The look while you cook lids are awesome, I don't have to constantly remove the pot covers to see what is going on in my pot. The various sizes are good as well, but may not be adequate for a big family so you may want to consider getting the add on pieces.

This set is both functional and beautiful to look at and if they are on your stove when you have visitors you are sure to get compliments...I have!

All being said these pots require good care, you cannot use brillo pads or scotch brite on these pots because they are high polished and any abrasive cleaners will ruin the polished look. If you happen to burn the surface of your pot just simply add water and some dish liquid and leave it on the warm burner to soak off.

Consider purchasing a WMF WMF Profi Plus Washing Brush with Stainless Steel Handlepot brush to remove any excess stubborn food particles.

Great Pot set...it's worth every penny!! This would make a great wedding present or housewarming gift.

This was my first good pot set! I loved it and I did not ruin it at all. I just left it in the house when we moved into a new one. I found an excuse to try a new one!

It is a great set. I was mostly worried about the small handles. But to my surprise they did hold up well. While cooking on low heat I did not even needed to use pot holders and on high heat having boiled pasta or potatoes I would use pot holders anyway. It's like a seatbelt in the car you never know what might happen.

I was extremely unhappy with the cheap pot set that I owned before and I still recall making the experiment how much faster the water would heat up. It was easy to clean and it is also dishwasher safe.A great pot set if you do like to cook and do not want to spend a fortune on your set.

In the U.S. you can get All Clad or something made in China.I found that WMF sold in Europe is made in Germany, but when sold in the U.S. it's made in China. That at lease gave me a barometer of the quality. The loop handles make it easy to store in my lazy-susan and also are more apt to remind me of the option of putting them in the oven--making one less pot/pan/dish to scrub.I was surprised at how much better this cookware conducts heat that my Cuisinart.Instead of trying to boil something on my electric stove at 8 or 9 I only have to go to 5.It's a lovely set and I love using them.

It arrived damaged, It happens. Spoke with a customer service representative, she was extremely helpful within minutes my problem was solved, return label sent and I took it up to UPS. I received a good deal on this cookware as well when purchasing them.So both times by e-mail and phone my problems were solved expediently, and courteously. the reason I gave it 4

stars was because of website navigation, finally after trying to explain the damage using the online form, and it continued to kick it out without explaining what I was doing wrong, I could not find a phone number to talk to a live person, finally having to google it thats where the frustration began. Long story short, part of it has to do with operator error namely myself, as its an 8pc set and I was under the impression that Just 2 pieces of the 8 piece set could be changed out. In essence its treated as 1 pc as a whole. My mistake I'm an older gentleman sometimes I make mistakes too. Again Thankyou, and have a great Day.Job well done.

Swiss Diamond Cast-Aluminum Nonstick 9.5 inch Breakfast Pan

Swiss Diamond Cast-Aluminum Nonstick 9.5 inch Breakfast PanI recently bought a Swiss Diamond Saute Pan on the basis of a limited lifetime warranty and this claim in the product description:

"Swiss Diamond cookware features a revolutionary new non-stick incorporating diamond crystals ... to form a virtually indestructible non-stick cooking surface that will not crack, blister or peel. So durable its metal utensil safe."

After my experience using this pan I take issue with the terms "virtually indestructible" and "metal utensil safe" and feel that I have been deceived.

I've followed Swiss Diamond use and care instructions *to the letter* but not long after I started using the pan the surface became pockmarked. I would submit that the product is certainly neither "virtually indestructible" nor "metal utensil safe."

Interestingly their lifetime warranty does not cover "scratch marks," which is puzzling because they've just claimed it's"virtually indestructible" and "metal utensil safe." How is a"virtually indestructible" and "metal utensil safe" surface going to get scratch marks on it? Maybe they know something we don't?

After ONE use, the finish on this pan started peeling off in soft little black balls. It showed scrap marks all over the surface that looked exactly like a TEFLON pan.I used a pair of very flimsy aluminum tongs to turn some pasta in a sauce in this pan.

We had purchased an entire 7-piece set, and just resturned the whole thing. There's research on the internet about the deceptive marketing and false claims this brand makes.DO NOT BUY THIS, IT'S A RIP OFF!!!You're better off with a cheap teflon-coated pan if you really, really want a non-stick surface.

Swiss Diamond touts that you can treat this pan as any normal pan, using metal utensils and you won't have to worry about it flaking like low quality non stick pans.

We used it delicately and used only non-stick utensils and it flaked within weeks of the first use.It took them 6 weeks to replace it under warranty. After receiving a 2nd pan we used it even more carefully to protect our investment in a "quality pan" and it flaked almost immediately.

This times after waiting months for a reply the company would not back there warranty and the pan went in the trash.

Don't waste your money or health this pan is nothing more than a cheap non-stick pan.

Lodge Pro-Logic P12SGR3 Pre-Seasoned Cast Iron Square Grill Pan, 12-inch

Lodge Pro-Logic P12SGR3 Pre-Seasoned Cast Iron Square Grill Pan, 12-inchPurchased this pan to sear roasts before transferring to the oven.I am very happy with the size, the design, and the heft.

The pan measures 12 inches square and includes grill ridges that extend almost to the edge of the cooking surface. The cooking surface has a 3/4-inch tall lip surround. The main handle and assist handle are well sized for the pan and seem sturdy. This pan is heavy.

The pre-seasoning on this pan is pretty decent, but is not as smooth as the type of seasoning you would get after years and years of use. However, it's a good start -I figure it'll smooth out over time.

When I use this pan, I toss in some salt between the ridges before I put the meat on the pan.The salt helps to absorb and prevent juices, etc. from sticking between the ridges (makes for easier cleanup). And since the salt is between the ridges, the meat never gets salty. Also, I let this pan heat up for a good five minutes before searing.

Cooking with Cast Iron is great, but only if you use it under the correct circumstances.

One of the reasons Cast Iron still has a use in the kitchen is that it has an extremely high heat capacity -higher than any other metal used in the kitchen -once you get the pan hot, it stays hot (even if you drop in a cold steak). If you need a pan that can quickly respond to changes in temperature, I'd recommend getting a Stainless Steel pan.

Another point to remember is that Cast Iron is not truly "non stick" -no matter how much you season it, or how "pre-seasoned" the pan is (or how much the manufacturer claims it is).It is, however, "stick resistant" provided the pan is seasoned and you use enough fat (butter, oil, lard, etc.) while cooking. If you require a non stick surface, then you're probably better off with an Anodized Aluminum pan.

The only down side to using Cast Iron is cleaning it.Cast Iron should never be washed with detergent and should NEVER be washed in the dishwasher. The reason for this is simple -detergents cause the seasoning to disintegrate. The seasoning on a Cast Iron pan is nothing more than polymerized fat (fat that is solidified in the presence of heat) -it sounds gross, but its perfectly normal.

I use salt to clean my Cast Iron. After I'm finished cooking, I let the pan cool a bit (to the touch), scrape/wipe out the residue, then rinse it under warm water. Then I pour in a thick helping of table salt and use the backside of a (rinsed) scour sponge to grind the remaining residue out (the salt works like sand paper and doesn't destroy the seasoning).I rinse the pan and repeat with the salt until the salt crystals stay relatively white.Once the cleaned pan is rinsed and dried, I warm it for a few minutes on the stovetop and apply a little oil with a paper towel. The pan is now ready for storage.

Having used and enjoyed the 10 inch fry pan shaped Lodge Pre-seasoned grill pan, I hoped to duplicate the experience in a larger capacity Lodge grill pan.

Much to my disappointment, I found the 12 inch pan to be lacking. The grids are more shallow and closer together.

They don't have the sharpness of the 10 inch pan, thus leaving indistinct grill patterns on the meat.

It cooks well enough but really can't compare with the results achieved in the old 10 inch pan.Sorry for the purchase.

the salmon I grilled on this pan was superb crisp outside and moist inside. I especially like the dimensions of this pan, it would fit 5 or 6 portions of chicken or fish easily.

However, I wouldn't recommend this for use in kitchens that do not have a high speed fan, as it does throw a lot of smoke. I have a 900 cfm rangemaster fan which handles the task quite well.

My husband loves everything cooked on grill, it's nice to do in summer time, but i really don't know how to do in winter until i found this pan.

This pan is wonderfully pre-seasoned, after i got it i just washed it in hot water, after it dry completely, i spray some vegetable oil, and then it's ready to use.

everything cooked in it got beautiful seared-mark, just as it cooked on BBQ grill. Taste so good, even u can feel summer in winter. the meat sit on the ribbed bottom and the extra fat can be taken out easily.

This pan is so easy to clean, just use hot water, then wipe it dry, spray some oil before store it.

Let's face it, grill pans are great in theory, but reality sometimes falls short. This is my fourth grill pan.It is the second hardest to clean, but it's a workhorse.I've tried turkey bacon, tuna and chicken breasts on it -all with moderate success.I've just purchased a grill press, which I think will make me love the pan more.

I like it because it's cast iron, although I agree with others that it heats unevenly. It does give you good sear marks. The pre-seasoning works OK, not as well as in my pre-seasoned skillets.I know it will get better with time.

I have yet to find a grill pan that didn't give me problems.I loved my cast aluminum, until the nonstick coating wore off.The ridges in my All-Clad pan are too round to get good marks and because it's nonstick, I can't use high heat. This one, dare I say, is the best of the bunch. The only two materials I haven't tried are enameled cast iron and anodized aluminium.

If you're looking for an average product that will last forever, this is it.I'm not sure perfection exists in a grill pan.

Old Mountain 10160 Pre-Seasoned 11-3/4-Inch Cast Iron Loaf Pan

Old Mountain 10160 Pre-Seasoned 11-3/4-Inch Cast Iron Loaf PanI own a LOT of cast iron..in fact, I probably own most of what Lodge has put out and typiually only purchase Lodge but I needed some additional bread pans and since cannot find Lodge brand any longer I purchased 2 from Sante Cabin and 2 from Old Mountain. Old Mountain arrived quickly, well wrapped/packaged and completely treated. Washed and used to encounter bread that dropped effortlessly from the pan without need for barely any prompting. After a few more uses the finish was even better...perfect.

The Sante Cabin cast iron arrived a few days later, washed to prepare for use and pan immediately began to rust. Description indicates "true seasoned" and "ready to use right out of the box" but also denotes "non-seasoned". It is NOT seasoned and rusted immediately after washing. On the other hand, the two Old Mountain loaf/bread pans were perfect. WAshed easily, zero rust, true non-seasoning and a beautifully shaped loaf.

Excellent purchase!

It is a good pan for baking bread but its description fooled me.I thought I was getting a nice long baking pan at 11 3/4 inches but that is the measurement which includes the handles. This is actually a 9 x 5.5 inch pan. Drat!

Buy Old Mountain 10160 Pre-Seasoned 11-3/4-Inch Cast Iron Loaf Pan Now

I have been looking for an alternative to non-stick for some time, and I finally decided on cast iron for a healthy replacement. After reading other reviews, I decided to try the Old Mountain one. I followed the instructions for new out of box care, and after using it for the first time, I noticed some of the finish came off onto my loaf. I had also noticed an odd smell coming from the pan. I was concerned about what the factory "pre-seasoning" was made of (it's made in China), so I scrubbed it off and followed the instructions for re-seasoning. I used grapeseed oil, and it worked perfectly!

Despite the issues with first time use, this pan does get 5 stars as the smell disappeared after the re-seasoning, and everything I have made (from wheat bread to banana bread) has popped right out with perfect, golden crusts. My recommendation is to re-season it before first use, it's definitely worth the money and improves after every use.

We have owned two of these cast iron bread loaf pans since May 2010. We bake our homemade bread at least once per week, five loaves at a time in our smallish electric home oven. When we bake we use one glass, one ceramic, one untreated stone, and two old mountain cast iron bread pans. There is absolutely no question that our stone pan (Pampered Chef) and our cast iron pans are the best. The only problem with the stone pan is that it's too large. We recently broke first the glass pan and now the ceramic pan and decided to get two more cast iron pans to replace them. They just can't be beat. Perfect loaf size, perfect crumb, great rising because the dough climbs up the slightly roughened surface, and the bread always slips ever so easily from the pan leaving behind a perfect crust that remains moist but firm. Our bread is 100% whole grain without any oils and the bread is consistently delicious and beautiful every time. I would say that the only thing to watch out for is burns. Be careful removing the pans from the oven and for a spell afterwards because they will burn your skin as they retain heat. Ouch! But, generally if that happens at all it only happens once, right? Enjoy! By the way... One reviewer said to wait to find a Lodge cast iron pan (impossible but good luck!), but I say why wait when you could be getting so much pleasure out of baking and eating right now!

Rachael Ray Hard Anodized Nonstick 12" Open Skillet, Orange

Rachael Ray Hard Anodized Nonstick 12' Open Skillet, OrangeI absoultely love this pan. Food does not stick(I use EVOO spray) and it's a quick clean in the sink.My only advice is DO NOT put this in the dishwasher. The bottom will start to turn sliver. Also if you scratch with a fork or sharp object, it will start to turn a rusty color overtime when using a dishwasher. Use a spatula and wash in the sink. Yes, this is my second one due to not listening to the instructions. NO Dishwasher. After owning one month, still looks brand new. One more helpful advice is when washing make sure food isn't trapped underneath the inside edge of the two handle screws. Hope this helps...

Update 5-22-09:Just wanted to let you know the pan is still in perfect condition. I eventually went ahead and bought the whole set around Christmas time for a really great price. All pieces still look brand new. By the way, we do use one or two pans atleast 5-6 days a week.

This is a well made, reasonably priced, but, misrepresented skillet.

If a skillet is advertised as a 12 inch skillet, it should have a 12 inch surface to cook on.This skillet actually measures 8 1/2 inches on the bottom. It is 12 inches at the top.I don't cook on the top, so, it was returned. If you are looking for a skillet that has an 8 1/2 inch bottom surface, this 12" skillet is for you.

Although I'm not a big fan of the name behind the brand, I have to admit, kudos to the manufacturer. Not only is this skillet a great concept-it saves time, as well as, the hassle of hand-washing an extra pot-but the quality is pretty outstanding compared to similar pans at a higher price point. Keep in mind it takes some getting used to (you have to make sure what you are cooking on each side requires similar heat). I would also recommend using silicone utensils over nylon. It definitely supports the non-stick surface and will save your cookware. Great product so far.

Precise Heat 16-Inch Rectangular Surgical Stainless Steel Electric Skillet

Precise Heat 16-Inch Rectangular Surgical Stainless Steel Electric SkilletJust bought this using my son's amazon prime account, paid $99.95Did my homework on this one as I did not want to buy another dissapointing product...

My friend uses her stainless steel electric skillet daily. It sits on her island which overlooks the rest of the house making it ideal for daily cooking and entertaining.Did not think I NEEDED another gadget in my kitchen, as part of me was stuck on the traditional pots and pans (spent too much $$ to consider subtituting or replacing them) but after watching her cook up a storm, flawlessly, while keeping up a conversation and watching what's going on with everyone else in the room for years, I gave in.Where has this been my whole life?Really! Waitied till my kids left for college to try this?Clueless and stubborn!Actually, the smoking gun was, I needed something bigger then a crock pot and easy enough to carry to my son's college football tailgating parties whereas I could cook something, put it in the fridge, then my trunk for a 2-3 hour drive, then plug it into an outlet to heat and keep warm.Voila!!!

First, picked this one because it is stainless steel AND heavy duty, as both my friend and I are resolute on not using anything covered with chemicals or nonstick stuff because regardless of how well you take care of them, they wear down.I prefer to spend an extra few minutes washing something then to have teflon like particles in our food. Was not easy finding one that is stainless steel, as mass marketing big box stores favor all the non-stick stuff, which is likely cheeper to manufacture and is an easy sell to mass consumers who prefer "easy".Since I was in no hurry I checked them out at a few stores while shopping there Costco, Walmart, Target Sears, Macy's, Bed Bath and Beyond.Thought I could scoop one up quickly while getting a feel for what's out there, but most were light, flimsy and full of buzzwords like "nonstick and dishwasher safe", not what I was looking for. Really? Oh hail the "internet"!!! How did we ever survive without it?Who doesn't love being an educated consumer, not wasting time driving from store to store, and getting stuff fast without any shipping charges?

Second, it's easy to clean, just add a few cups of hot water when done, gently scrape the bottom with any non-metal spatula, then wash with a sponge.I never use harsh chemicals, powders, metal scrubbers, or the dishwasher to wash pots and pans as it wears down the coating, regardless what the manufacturer says.I think what makes it so easy to clean is mainly that it cooks so evenly and is made out of strong metals. I prefer natural staining as opposed to shining, spotless silent health risk gadgets...

Third, it's big, maybe too big for some folks, but I prefer the bigger size, even as an empty nester, as I can cook once and save for later.Easy to stir fry vegetables, then steam slightly, not overcook.Just spayed the bottom with extra light olive oil, using real OO poured into an aerosol container.Made chicken breast, first browned then steamed.WOW best quality cooking ever!!!Endless possibilities, leaves the stove top free too...Can't wait for my boys to come home for Thanksgiving!!!

Fourth, it's beautiful, because of the polished stainless steel it is not an eye sore when left on the counter.Great for entertaining as it looks like something you would see at a high end buffet restaurant or catering facility.

Finally, in summary, this one is safe, cooks amazingly great, heats fast and keeps food warm. It's a keeper!!!Promise to let you know if there are any durability issues down the road but so far, though nothing is perfect, this one is close.

Skillet is stainless steel and looks good enought to be used as a serving dish.Is not non-stick finish inside which we did not want since these surfaces don't last too long and have to have special care. All that is required is a little scrubbing on the cooking surface to keep it shiny. We're well satisfied.

The stainless steel electric skillet works great just have to adjust to getting used to the way it heats for cooking as compared to the others that have that toxic coating in them.....cleans up nice...I noticed some people wanting to wash it in a dishwasher but with anything electric like this ...I would wash by hand...it's not gonna kill ya....food tastes great from it...I am pleased with it's function...looks...price....quality....and speedy delivery.

This product looked hot when I got it, but then after a couple months it started to fail.First the thermostat didn't seem very accurate, then the indicator light failed, then it seemed to short in the dial. After that it heated only one part of the element, boiled one part of the pan while not heating the rest of the pan.Now the dial seems not to work at all.I bought this through an Amazon affilliate and now don't know where to go for warranty. One retailer stated it had a five year warranty, but I can't find manufacturer info stating the same.I am now quite cold about this cool looking but now not working electric fry pan.I am now looking to replace it

Want Precise Heat 16-Inch Rectangular Surgical Stainless Steel Electric Skillet Discount?

I purchased two Precise Heat Electric Skillets and they are so similar that I will review both. I purchased thePrecise Heat 12in Round Stainless Steel Electric Skillet KTES3and the Precise Heat 16" Rectangular Skillets. If you buy both Be sure to label each cord becuase they look the same but are rated differently and you would not want to confuse them.

I purchased them from an alternative online seller on Sears.com to compare them and return the one I liked less but found out after receiving them that there was a %15 restocking fee as well as $28 return shipping charges so I decided just to keep them both. My point is, know who you are buying from. Amazon is great, the alternative sellers on here...read the fine print. And NEVER order from alternative sellers on Sears.com., becuase you can not simply drop off items you want to return.

First the Pro's:

Out of the box these are very elegant and have a beautiful polished stainless finish.

They are not too heavy to manage even when full of food.

They are Stainless Steel which is much healthier than Teflon coated.

The hollow handles stay cool.

The lid handles get hot, but I used a washcloth to grab them while cooking to stir and that was enough protection.

While I did not let food burn in them, Washing was an absolute breeze. Much better than my Calphalon SS pans. Although it does help that I have a tall faucet in my sink.

No burn in smell the first time I used it.

The construction of these is very curious. There is a vented cover over the bottom and becuase of this the instructions say to not immerse in water. But that was no problem. I washed the inside of the pan at an angle in my sink. Had any food gotten on the outside I would have just wiped it off but not under running water. I noticed a little water did get on the bottom, so being curious I unscrewed the screws on the bottom plate to see how much water got in there. The screws are in the middle of each of four rubber feet. These came out easily. I did get a little water in there and wiped it up. I took pictures of the inside (of the 12" Round model which is similar you can see those by clicking on the link above) You'll see that the inner bottom of the skillet is just like the bottom of a flat electric griddle (like I use for pancakes). So, I am not sure of the purpose of the cover over the bottom, except to perhaps retain heat since the heating coil sits embedded in the aluminum core base which is attached to the bottom of the stainless skillet. Or, maybe it is to protect the counter from the heat? When you put the bottom back on, screw the two screws furthest away from the plug first. The holes do not align perfectly and I found that was the best way to make them match up again.

Now the Con's:

1UNEVEN HEATING: The bottom Stainless Steel portion of the pan is relatively thin. There is definitely a "hot spot" ring exactly over where the heating coil sits in the aluminum disk. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS PAN FOR COOKING ANYTHING THAT SHOULD NOT BE STIRRED SUCH AS SUNNY SIDE UP EGGS. On the other hand it was great for ground beef and frozen green beans, since they need to be stirred. But watch out it heated up VERY FAST. Not like a regular thick bottomed stainless pan. Do not put food in it and turn around to do anything else. You should plan to use this on a much lower setting the first time you use it than the temp label would suggest, until you are familiar with it.

2TEMPERATURE CONTROL: There does not seem to be a Low Warming setting. After I cooked my ground beef, I wanted it to simmer with taco seasoning on low heat. I had to keep switching the temperature dial back and forth becuase it goes from off to higher heat than I would like basically boiling.

3 STAINING: The first time I used each one they stained. Now I don;t really care becuase they will always be full of food but I have never seen that happen before. It makes me wonder...what is this Stainless Steel made out of? And how can they call it "Stainless"?

4No GLASS LID to see throughbut the domed lid is very elegant.

Because of the first two problems I give this pan a 3 star rating. I think these are serious flaws especially at the price this is selling for. It this had sold for less than $45.00 I would have given it a 4 star rating.

On the other hand I am still glad to have it, it's pretty for serving guests, and as long as I keep my eyes on it it works. But I really think I should be able to take my eyes off of it and let food simmer or stay warm while serving. IMHO this is what we get since we stopped making quality items in the good old USA and now buy mystery quality items from China.

I do not expect these to last more than 3 years, even with limited use. I think there are problems with both of their thermostats/temp controls. I have read others say that they go out as early as in 3 months time. If you can buy a similar design made in the USA or Europe I recommend you purchase that and not this one.

Ceramic Marble Coated Cast Aluminium Non Stick Fry Pan 30cm(12 inches)

Ceramic Marble Coated Cast Aluminium Non Stick Fry Pan 30cm(12 inches)I loved this pan. When I went back to Amazon to buy another one, I saw a review by someone stating there was a warning about Phthalates AND Lead. That did not make much sense to me knowing it was made in Korea where people have gotten highly educated about and sensitive to toxins. But, I wasn't going to risk my family's health. Too bad, I thought, as it really is one of the best pans I have ever used. Then, I found and bought a set of Instant Lead Tests (by Lead Check) sold by Amazon and tested the pan I had at home. The result: NO LEAD. As to Phthalates (DEHP), I don't know how to test for it, but I don't see how DEHP, a primary plasticizer for PVC, would be on the cooking surface meant for high temperature operation. Maybe the handle tested positive for it? Given the type of hard material used for the handle, I don't think it is a high risk area, if any. So, guess what, I am buying another ceramic marble coated pan!

I have used this pan for a couple of months now and decided to order 2 more, smaller one for myself and 1 for my sister. Will probably purchase more for my family!

They feel solid, and are exactly as described.

I still find that I need to use a little oil or pam spray, but that is fine. These are good quality pans at a great price

My husband never forgave me for throwing away his favorite non-stick pan.In searching for a safer alternative to teflon, we came across this pan, which seemed like a safer option.Sadly, upon receipt, we noticed the following disclaimer on the product packaging:"State of California Prop. 65 WARNING This product contains DEHP, a Phthalate Chemical, Lead and other Chemicals known to the State of California to cause cancer, birth defects and other reproductive harm."Use at your own risk. I'll be returning mine.

I'm always being distracted by numerous things when I cook and as a result have walked away after or before cooking with flame still burning under the pan, ruining every pan I've ever used. This last time,.. after preparing breakfast, I emptied my bacon & eggs from this Ceramic Marble coated pan, heard the phone ring in my computer room where I took my breakfast to eat, and answer the phone. After finishing my breakfast and phone call,(a good 25 minutes), there was a burning smell. I ran back through the smoke filled house to remove the pan from the stove. I thought,..Oh No!,..another new pan ruined!

After abusing the pan on medium high (3/4) for at least 25 minutes,..I was shocked to see it clean up so easily with just a damp paper towel, and even though there was an 8" area in the center of the pan that was slightly darker than the rest,..it STILL retains it's excellent non-stick properties.

You could spend a whole lot more and still not get something comparable to this very affordable high quality pan.

We got this pan in a set of 4 just like it of different sizes. We LOVE all of them. We use "popular egg product" in ours all the time, and have had no problems like a previous reviewer...and I don't use any oil or spray. It literally wipes right out for us.

I also love that these are fully coated with non stick like another reviewer said if you spill on the edges or outside it comes right off as well. We've used many times and they still look like new. Even the bottom doesn't stain like my other teflon/stainless steel pans.

RSVP Endurance® Egg Rings (set of 4)

RSVP Endurance® Egg RingsI've been looking for a long time for these gadgets; ever since I saw a short order chef in a Waffle House use them.I finally found these and ordered them. They are perfect for making Egg McMuffins at home.

I recommend you use spray Pam all around the ring so it will release the egg when it's ready to be flipped. Also don't forget to let the egg sit on the frying pan for a minute or so after you've flipped it as the yolk won't be as solidly cooked as it might seem.Don't ask me how I know that.

I use a hemostat to grip the tab when I'm ready to flip the egg so I don't burn myself.I don't think you'd want to use a bare finger on it.

Finally, I couldn't come up with any reason to keep all four rings. In fact, I do my best work with just one.So I gave two of them to my Dad the last time he came to visit and kept the other two. Both of us are happy with the gadgets.

I like to make my own egg McMuffins, with egg beaters, no fat cheese whole grain english muffins. These rings are stainless steel and heavy.

They do an excellent job of keeping the egg inside the ring, afterthe pan is heated. They work extremely well with regular eggs also. I highly recommend the RSVP Egg Ring.

Good for three and a half inch eggs to make your own egg mcmuffins with sausage or ham.I use Morningstar soy sausage which is very good.I also use Costco's brand, Kirkland, Egg Starts for the eggs to eliminate the chlosterol of eggs from our diet.To keep the egg from running from underneath the ring, just put the ring in your frying pan and heat the frying pan on medium heat for about four minutes. then slowly our the egg mixture into the ring to a height of about two inches.

Put on a toasted and buttered Thomas English Muffin along with the sausage. or ham, and a slice of cheese.Be sure to use Pam in your frying pan and on the egg rings before frying. We also feel safe using this product as it is made from stainless steel in our wonderful United States of America

These rings are very heavy and very well made. They are perfectly round so there is no place for the eggs to stick. Just a light spray of oil keeps them stick free. They are easy to clean and strong enough not to get bent when stored in a crowded gadget drawer. The short tabs will get quite hot. I recommend picking them up with tongs. It is important to follow directions and let them get hot in the bottom of the pan before adding eggs. They are a perfect fit for english muffins and bagels.

These egg rings are great. Perfect 3-inch size. I used cooking spray and the eggs slipped easily out of the rings. When the eggs were nearly cooked, I removed the rings and gently turned the eggs over to cook the other side. The eggs kept their shape. The rings are sturdy and washed up well in the dishwasher. I ordered another set for a gift.

Circulon Contempo Stainless Steel Nonstick 10-Piece Cookware Set

Circulon Contempo Stainless Steel Nonstick 10-Piece Cookware Set ()We've enjoyed using a wonderful copper core stainless cookware set for several years. Then a year and a half ago, I opted to test the Circulon Contempo 10-piece hard anodized nonstick cookware set even though my expectations were low. However, I was surprised by how well the anodized cookware set performed. When offered the dishwasher safe Circulon Contempo 10-Piece stainless steel nonstick cookware set, I eagerly accepted, not realizing how different these two Contempo sets would be.

The Circulon Contempo stainless steel nonstick cookware set, oven safe to 400°, is suitable for solid plate, ceramic, gas, radiant ring, halogen, glass and induction cooking surfaces. This 10-piece cookware set, made in China, comes with 8.5"/21.5 CM and 10"/25.4 CM sauté pans, 1/0.9 and 2/1.9 Qt/L covered saucepans, a 3 Qt/2.8 L covered sautoir (straight sided sauté pan), and an 8 Qt/7.6L covered stockpot.Even though there isnt a lid for the 10" sauté pan, either the stockpot or covered sautoir lid can be used. The polished stainless steel exterior encapsulates an aluminum base for superior heat distribution, and uses basic professional construction with comfortable silicone covered stainless steel handles. The interior of each pot/pan includes a metal utensil safe hard anodized food release system with high low wave technology. Clear shatter resistant tempered glass lids boast decorative silicon and stainless steel handles and stainless steel rims.

Caring for this set is pretty simple.Avoid sliding the pans on the cook top, use a similarly sized burner, and use a low to medium heat setting.Store pans separated with paper towels to prevent scratching.Don't use nonstick sprays and keep use of oil to a minimum.Don't cut with sharp knives or poke with pointed items in the pans.Don't use oven cleaners; make a paste from baking soda and water to remove stains.

The Circulon Contempo stainless steel nonstick cookware set heats up quickly and evenly distributes heat, while the handles stay cool to the touch on the cook top.The TOTAL food release system consists of circular ridges on the bottom of the pans, and works remarkably well.Additionally, the polished stainless steel cookware set provides a guaranteed lifetime of performance and satisfaction.

The silicone covered long double riveted stainless steel handles provides a good grip and includes a fold out ring for hanging. The handle rings pop out freely, but are taught to prevent movement while cooking. The lid's decorative handles flare out at the sides and arc on the top. This looks nice, but their 2" height is higher than the lids from our copper core set. This really isn't a problem until placing a pot with this domed lid with 3/4" taller profile handles into the oven. This makes a big difference in oven rack placement and how much I can fit into our 27" wall ovens.

While the glass lids allow full view of the pot's contents, they fit loosely an easily shift on the pans allowing some steam to escape. The lid problem is largely caused by the pan's construction where the rim flares out so the pan's inner and outer components can be crimped together. The sauté pans are sharply curve upwards making flipping food extremely difficult.Plus, the handles suck up water through an opening on the bottom side where attached to the pan while in the dishwasher.Later when the pan in resting on a flat surface, the water will leak out causing puddlng and leaving a removable water stain on the stainless steel surface. (See photo)Even though this set is dishwasher safe, you're practically better off washing them by hand.

I liked the polished metal look of these pans when I first unpacked the Circulon Contempo stainless steel cookware set.Features largely mirrors those of the hard anodized set, plus improved upon it by being dishwasher safe. After learning of the stainless steel cookware set's flaws, I dislike cooking with them. The attractive and more economically priced Circulon Contempo 10-piece hard anodized cookware set may not be shiny, but it's by far the better cookware set between the two.If you're looking for a hassle free quality stainless steel nonstick cookware set, this set isn't it.

PROS

Oven safe to 400°

TOTAL food release system

Safe for use with metal utensils

Usable on solid plate, ceramic, gas, radiant ring, halogen, glass and induction cook tops

Fold out ring in handle for hanging

Circulon Cooks! iPad app

Lifetime customer satisfaction guaranteed

CONS:

Lids fit loosely allowing steam to escape

Decorative handle a bit too tall

Handles suck up water in the dishwasher which leaks out later

()As a professional chef I often get asked and often ask myself to demo a variety of cookware for my cooking programs and culinary classes. It was a joy to see this set hit the Amazon-vine program and I looked forward to opening my box of pans the moment they hit the front porch.

First let me say they were packaged quite well and the lids fit perfectly onto the handles to allow each pan to be placed on my pot rack.In the package were a 1-quart covered saucepan, 2-quart covered saucepan, 8-quart covered stockpot, 8.5-inch french skillet and a 10-inch french skillet

This set is a great set for the average kitchen and I have enjoyed using them for a variety of tasks from omelets, stir fry's, cooking pasta all utilizing metal utensils. The coating is very durable and will take up 400 degrees in the oven without flaking off or melting the handles. The lids go well with the pans and many reviews commented that the handles are too big. I'm used to storing pans and lids aside from each other but they both work well together if you want to hang them up.

I really like the exterior finish and it's very easy to clean and maintain and has stood up to the dishwasher and scrubbing by hand.As for the interior you can burn marinara sauce, scorch milk and overcook mac and cheese till it turns black and each will simply drop out of the pan and wipe clean with little effort.

I will say that high heat cooking is out if you are not adding in a liquid or some sort of fat.You will need to get a traditional pan without a non stick coating to get a good sear, unless the pans specifically state they are non stick and made to sear, such as those from Calaphalon.

As for the price you really can't do any better for a complete set such as this. You get a great set of high quality cookware that will give you loads of versatility in the kitchen. Will this cookware set do everything if you are looking for a do it all professional set, no.Will this cookware set give the average to budding professional chef the option to get creative and have fun in the kitchen, yes.

Enjoy the set of cookware, you will not be disappointed.

()These are great. Very tough. Induction compatible. Metal utensil safe (thought I wouldn't do that), and dishwasher safe. The base is very thick and I've never better cookware for heat distribution. I was worried that the handles on the lids weren't very big and that my hand would touch the metal parts. It turns out the metal bit that connects the handle to the lid doesn't get hot at all so it's no concern at all.

I have the circulon hard anodized symmetry set as well (Circulon Symmetry Hard Anodized Nonstick Cookware Set, 11-Piece) and that is great as well. I was very curious what the difference was and why this set is cheaper:

1. These have thinner side walls. It makes no difference at all. I have pots that cost more than this set with thin walls.

2. The walls go straight up and down. The other ones were fluted to help pour without spalshing. Both sets perform admirably and honestly the is no difference performance wise.

3. The long handles on these are better, I think, because they don't collect water in the dishwasher.

Both had very nice thick bases and are really amazing. If you want to save money and don't mind the looks of this set then get this. No performance is sacrificed. The other set looks nicer however (bigger handles) and I can see why it costs a little more. Both are really really good and I'd say a good value for the quality you get.

EDIT (Sept 2012)

I don't like these as much anymore since the pots with the long handles retain water in them from the dishwasher. The water gets in where the handle attaches to the pot/pan. And when you turn the pot right side up, water slowly dribbles out for a long time. It doesn't dry in there well and the handle starts conducting heat when being used.

()Good cookware is hard to find at least at a reasonable price! The 10-piece Circulon Contempo Stainless Steel Nonstick Cookware Set seems to take care of both these requirements at once it is exceptionally good cookware and it is reasonably priced.

The set includes just about every piece you'll need for the average kitchen. There's a big 8-quart stock pot, an 8.5" French skillet, a 10" French skillet, oneand two-quart sauce pans and a three-quart covered saute pan. The lids are unique and have both a plus and a minus to mention. The plus is that the handles are very tall. They keep your hands away from the heat and splatter and they look very cool. The minus is that the handles are very tall. I know, the same feature is both a plus and a minus. The minus part is that if you need to stack the lids in such a way as to conserve space, you'll be disappointed. These handle do take up more space than conventional lids. If you have sufficient space, you will love the design, however.

This cookware set is heavy duty, made to last many years with proper care. The Circulon Contempo also uses the TOTAL Food Release System with Autograph, which is a 3-layer nonstick system from DuPont. This system enables you to use metal utensils with the nonstick surface without scratching the surface.

Magnalite Classic Cast-Aluminum 11-1/4-Inch Fry Pan

Magnalite Classic Cast-Aluminum 11-1/4-Inch Fry PanI inherited the Magnalite collection from my mother and grandmother, and after 50+ years of hard use, really hard use, I only recently managed to warp the bottom of the skillet on my new Viking (flamethrower) gas stove when I set the heat too high. But I'm still using the skillet! This super heavy duty set cooks the most evenly and cleans up the easiest of any cookware out there.I despise non-stick interiors, and these gratefully have none, and with use are seasoned so well they never stick.I will cheerfully buy new sets for my grandkids and hopefully they will still be using theirs in 50+ years as well.Rice is perfect, browing meats & rue gravy is easy, roasts and soups cook evenly without scortching, and cleanup is fast & easy with a little steel wool. The 11 inch skillet size is perfect for fried chicken and browning meats of all types.Best cookware ever made, at a real bargain of a price!!

It's heavy, it mars the counters in your cupboards, it can't be cleaned in your dishwasher unless you want it to discolor. Also discolors in the presence of acidic foods, like tomatoes. If you ever scorch something, it can be very difficult to clean adequately. The pieces with the black handles can only go in an oven up to 350 degrees, so no browning foods in your broiler using the skillet. Did I say how heavy it is? It's heavy.

I ordered this pot to replace one that is about 25 years old and the handle broke. Although the pots are "supposed" to be the same size, my original USA made Magnalite looks like the big heavier brother to this new made in China Magnalite. Haven't used it yet but the dishes will be more limited as the new one has right at 1" less depth and is not nearly as heavy as the old one. We'll see. Don't order this if you are expecting it to equal a vintage Magnalite pot.

Kitchen Classics 188-549LIB 12-Inch Heavy Gauge Aluminum Non-Stick Saute Pan

Kitchen Classics 188-549LIB 12-Inch Heavy Gauge Aluminum Non-Stick Saute PanI purchased this 12-inch Saute, the 8-inch Saute and the 3 Qt Saucepan from the Kitchen Classics cookware line. After doing extensive research online and in-stores, I decided to try my luck with these pans.I am amazed with the look, feel and performance of these products and at these prices!

The saute pans feel "heavy" for their size, but not in a bad way at all. They are very thick-walled aluminum and stainless steel construction, which helps evenly distribute and control the heat so my food doesn't burn.

I can tell that the Teflon nonstick coating is very durable and has been extremely effective every time I've used it.No need for any spray at all, so my cooking is healthier too.

I love the feel of the handles they have a bit of a rubberized grip, but with a soft touch. The rivets are very strong and high-quality, one of the features I really wanted in my new cookware.

What sets this cookware apart from competitors of similar quality is the PRICE.There is no way I could buy a national brand piece like this 12-inch saute pan at this price, AND get all the features and quality that are important to me.I plan to purchase the rest of the items in this line to complete my new cookware set!

Stoneline 11 Inch Stone Tough Non-stick Roasting/Grilling Plate

Stoneline 11 Inch Stone Tough Non-stick Roasting/Grilling PlateI am not a big fan of the no stick coating pans because most of them you still need to put oil on them and the coating just seems to fall off after a few days of kid glove treatment, so with that in mind, I saw this on add at Amazon.com and thuoght why not, one last try, to see if it works, if it doesn't, I'll return it to amazon and get my money back, so I bought it and I am glad I did, first the stone coating works real well you just have to remember to season it like cast iron griddle, and when the pan heats up it realy smells like hot stone, the meat tasts like wow!!! I had a long time ago in Seattle a steak cooked on a rock gridle and it was realy good and so was the chicken I cooked last night, and clean up was a brease, the only thing is be careful what pot holder you use to lift the lid I nearly dropped the glass lid because of my oven mit, I didn't feel that dropped the over all score ,but FYI.

I purchased this product several months ago and it is wonderful, I use this quite often for cooking steaks when the weather prevents me from grilling..

This grilling plate is good but could it be better. The spacing between ribs should be wider. The food is sticking and getting stuck between them which makes a hard to clean. Polymer handles that it has slide very easy so is very dangerous when it comes to handling it when hot. I personally don't use them for that reason.

So for the money would I buy it again? The answer is NO I would not. Would I pay $50.00, Maybe. (No More)

Edit it 04-24-11

It was good brand new but then junk.........

This pan I put it in the garbage. The food was sticking to it between the ribs. It was hard to clean and time consuming so I just got a

Lodge Logic L10SK3 12-Inch Pre-Seasoned Skillet for $18.00 and is much better then this junk pan for $100.00 plus.

Paderno World Cuisine 7-1/8-Inch Stainless Steel Ceramic Coated Frying Pan

Paderno World Cuisine 7-1/8-Inch Stainless Steel Ceramic Coated Frying PanI purchased this to use on an induction cooktop because it's description says stainless steel and many reviewers of induction cooktops state that stainless steel works on them. My induction cooktop did not recognize this pan and a magnet would not stick to the bottom. I googled stainless steel and found that only the 400 series (steel with only chromium added)is ferro-magnetic and would thus work on induction cooktops. If too much nickel is added to the stainless steel (300 series) then it will no longer attract a magnet and will not work on induction cooktops. Unfortunately none of the cookware manufacturers seem to state what type of stainless steel they use.If you need a pot or pan for an induction cooktop then shop locally testing the bottom of each with a magnet or mail-order only if it specifically states that it works with induction cooktops.
