Wolfgang Puck WPCGL050 Tri-Grill Panini Maker with Storage Drawer

Wolfgang Puck WPCGL050 Tri-Grill Panini Maker with Storage DrawerIf you have not tried one of these muti-purpose portable cookers (if you have you know the speed and ease of cooking any meal is unbelieveable) look no further than this fine unit. Right out of the box you see the quality and thought that went into this product. This is a replacement for my first (different brand panini grill). Differences are unbeliveable; unlike my previous grill this unit grills to perfection, the grease from cooking goes thru the open bottom grill plates, into a removeable tray. All grids are removeable, which is a huge difference (my old unit did not have removeable grids had to clean by hand). It cooks meat, chicken, panini etc perfectly and nearly grease free.P.S.Don't throw out the direction booklet! It has over 20 Wolfgang Puck recipes in it, to use with this grill! Can't say enough.

I was searching for a replacement for my old unit from a different manufacturer that I had loved but is no longer made, and had several requirements:

1.Removable plates

2.An interior drip pan

3.A "floating" top that would allow for even cooking when food is thicker on one end.

4.An adjustable temperature (more than just high/low).

5.A decent sized cooking area.

It is somewhat surprising to me how difficult finding all these on the same unit can be, and this tri-grill does deliver and performs well on each of these items, so for that I'd give it five stars. The reason for me only rating it three is below:

After reading the other reviews here, I was a little nervous about ordering because of the possibility of poor quality. You can imagine my thoughts when I opened the box and out falls a screw!Fortunately, the screw was to hold the lid onto the handle and I was able to reassemble. The other side was very loose too, so I do believe that it can be assumed that these grills are not well built.I cannot help but wonder what is loose on the inside that I don't know about, even though it seems to be working fine. While not totally cheap, the materials do seem slightly on the flimsy side compared to some higher end models, but I think they are acceptable for a $99 price. The exception is the grill plates which I think are very nice and even sturdier than my much loved previous grill.

The grill is attractive, but it is a bit clunky/bulky in size because of the extra griddle plate storage. Its a great idea, but now that I own it, I personally would prefer to have a sleeker unit and have to store the extra plate elsewhere.I also wish the cord was just a little bit longer. The gauges are difficult to read when standing at the counter, I have to bend over and get closer to eye level with it to set.I also wish the gauges had more markings, but that is not a big deal.

Overall, I am happy with the tri-grill.With exception of quality concerns, my complaints with the grill are relatively minor. For me, it isn't going to become my favorite appliance because these complaints are annoyances, but its acceptable and does a very good job at its intended function it does grill well (leaves nice grill marks on the food too).

Buy Wolfgang Puck WPCGL050 Tri-Grill Panini Maker with Storage Drawer Now

We searched until we found what looked like the prefect multi-function panini grill. It's a great concept and obviously someone thought of all the possibilities for cooking that it could do.And the storage for the extra plates is brilliant. However, when we took it out of the box, some screws and bolts fell out. Then we noticed that the anchors holding the heating element were loose and dangling. We couldn't put them in because the back, where the bolts went, was inaccessible.A little black rubber part fell out also, and we figured out that it was one of the rubber feet on the bottom, but the other one was missing.

We thought the metal which it was made of was rather thin and flimsy, and it was apparently carelessly assembled. Also, a lot of the parts rattled, making it sound not very sturdy. We are returning it without trying it and getting a refund. But after reading the 5-star review about how well it cooks, we are considering trying another one, just to see if this one was a lemon.

My food is always sizzling and I love using these 3 different cooking positions for varieties of food we are cooking.Great design.Great product!

Want Wolfgang Puck WPCGL050 Tri-Grill Panini Maker with Storage Drawer Discount?

I just threw item this in the trash after a near tragedy. It is made so cheaply that while I was cooking the top plate slid out when the lid was raised. The hot plate fell to the tile floor just missing my feet because I jumped backwards; still holding on to the lid.Mentally picture this with the bare red hot heat coils exposed; the hinge lid unstable and ground beef patties on the bottom plate.Unplugged the unit and cleaned up the mess. The next day my husband looked at the unit and determined that the ONE clip on the front was not securing the top plate properly. There was no way to bend or weld a piece on the clip to make it safe to use.I had even bought the extra waffle plates which was also a waste of money. The Customer Service at the manufacturer was insolent and a letter to the the Wolfgang Puck cookware website was never answered. Please for your safety do NOT buy this appliance!

Takoyaki Pan #H5180

Takoyaki Pan #H5180(2008 HOLIDAY TEAM)Beggars can't be choosers, and that seems to be true for takoyaki in the US.The delightful Osaka treat is rare enough even at Japanese restaurants, and the necessary implements for making it at home are even more so.

The absolute best set up is a round takoyaki pan, either on a gas or electric portable grill.Much of the fun of takoyaki comes from everyone sitting around the table and cooking together, putting in your favorite ingredients and popping the little balls out then eating them hot and fresh. That is how it is done in Japan, and home-cooking takoyaki isn't meant to be the province of a lone cook standing over a stove while everyone waits patiently for the food.It is a communal experience.

However, true takoyaki cookers are not readily available, and this pan is better than nothing. It doesn't take much, just a pan with round indents in it heavy enough to rest on the range while the balls are flipped over using long toothpicks. It isn't really designed to work with electric ranges, as they are pretty rare in Japan, but it does the trick. I don't recommend using the included steel pick, as it will scratch your pan and conduct heat while doing the flipping.

this is a pretty good item. comes in nice box, kinda heavy though, but one of the old fashion iron pans that make food taste great!

Buy Takoyaki Pan #H5180 Now

I always wanted to try takoyaki, make it myself you know. With this Takoyaki Pan I could. As the first reviewer said, it is heavy, but it's not bad. The Pan itself is big enouf to fit on a small burner on the stove. When I first opened it I was surprise how big the semi-spheres where, just good enouf to make the perfect size octopuss ball. Plus it comes with a pick, and a brush to oil the pan, cause it's not stick proof.

So anyway, it's a good product and all.

The shipping was fast and on time .

The takoyaki pan in fact worked better for me over my electric range than the other range it was designed for. Outer depressions cooked more slowly than inner but on the whole electric dispensed the heat more evenly. As long as I liberally applied Pam with every batch I had no trouble in turning the takoyaki over. Though the included pick didn't scratch my pan I felt it was easier to flip the delicate dumplings the slighter wooden ones you can get in stores.

Add 1 part Sriracha hot chili sauce (with the rooster on the front) and 3 parts mayo for a terrific spicy sauce.

No complaints here! Very satisfied I can have this delicious and under appreciated treat whenever I please!

Waring Portable Burner

Waring SB30 1300-Watt Portable Single Burner

I have owned single burners in the past for several reasons. They are nice to have when entertaining, especially around the holidays. Also, when I make shabu shabu, fondue, or a hot-pot dish, a tabletop burner is much nicer that using candles or alcohol-type burners.

I occasionally help out a friend at trade shows, demonstrating cooking techniques, and we always use single gas burners.I bought this one for when I need a slow, low heat for a long time.Gas burners need to have the butane canisters changed fairly often where this one plugs in and stays hot for as long as you need it.At home however, gas burners will be a great back-up during power outages where this one would be worthless.

I decided to show how this burner works by making this short video.I hope that it is helpful to you! Thanks.

EDIT:I am including this information about the boiling water demonstration by request: I used a heavy-duty anodized aluminium pan; the water was room temerature (72 degrees Fahrenheit); and the experiment was conducted at approximately 700 feet above sea level.

I have been using an Eclipse single for about 3 years now. Before that I used another Eclipse model but it finally quit working. Recently my latest Eclipse started acting funny and so I thought it was time to fund a replacement and while I was at it, I thought I would try to find a higher quality unit. The Waring SB30 was well rated and not too expensive, so I grabbed one.

My initial take on the SB30 was that it was very well built and sturdy. This is a great improvement over the Eclipse burners I have used in the past. My only complaint is that cord is fairly short, maybe 3ft long. The knob has a very nice and smooth action to it. The base is rather large but it is very stable with an 8qt stock pot on it, so I guess I can't complain too much about that. The burner weighs a lot. I believe most of that weight is from the metal burner itself. More on this later on.

I use this burner as my main burner as I live in a rental and the range is not so good. The burner heats up a little slow but transfers that heat to the pan very quickly. I believe this is because the burner has a lot of metal in it and that allows it to store a lot of heat. This is a very good thing for boiling water and sauteing but not such a good thing for cooking touchier foods like milk and sauces.

ONE YEAR UPDATE: The SB30 has performed great over the past year. I have not had a single problem with the burner, it looks and works like new. All in all I am very happy with it.

Buy Waring Portable Burner Now

I can't begin to say how THRILLED I am with this unit.It is, simply, the BEST, PROFESSIONAL, COMMERCIAL QUALITY unit you can find. I've had other, non-professional units--which never heat hot enough--which causes sticking-and soon stop working. The extra $$ for this unit are worth every penny.I had given up on others-and this was my last resort. These burners heat and stay HOT for even cooking and frying. I use this double burner ALL THE TIME for all types of stove cooking-in place of of my regular stove-which had died. I didn't want to purchase another stove now because we'll soon be moving. ( It does take a minute or so to heat up--not a fault--it's in the construction--because once it does reach

the temperature level you want--IT STAYS hot at that temperature.)This is the ONLY unit which gets hot enough to BOIL WATER and COOK PASTA --in a BIG POT, too--because large burner IS large....and QUICKLY.All the other units NEVER reach boiling temperature. This is because it's 1500. I, also, recommend this flat surface over the raised burner grids--which are hard to clean. These flat surfaces clean instantly. REAL metal-not plastic and substitute stuff--for easy cleaning and quality appearance. When we move and have a stove, again, I know we'll continue to use this

as an extra burner . This is the ONLY unit I would recommend over all those cheapie ones--whether they cost little or a lot.I don't write reviews very often-but just had to share and praise this one.

I've found the Waring Pro DB60 to be a solid double burner.I like the simple design with cast iron plates makes for easy clean up. The temperature control seems faster than other burners i've usedwhen turning down from 5 to 2 (high to simmer) The Waring cost more than other double electric burners on the market, but from the not convincing reviews of the others, and from using the Waring every day for several weeks i think it is definitely worth it.

T-fal Simply Delicioso C1071164 Nonstick Dishwasher Safe Hard Enamel 11-Inch Comal Round Griddle Co

T-fal Simply Delicioso C1071164 Nonstick Dishwasher Safe Hard Enamel 11-Inch Comal Round Griddle Cookware, RedI was skeptical about ordering a non-stick surface griddle for health concerns, however, when I read the description of the surface that was provided with the packaging, I was very pleased. This product is next-generation non-stick, and is not a safety hazard in the the way the old-time non-stick was.The griddle itself is a work of art, especially the part that makes contact with the stove, so I hang it on a hook with the bottom facing out, and it looks like modern, Mexican art hanging in my kitchen.Plus, the griddle works great with my ceramic cooktop stove.

T-fal A113SC84 Family Cooking Nonstick Interior and Experior Oven Safe Dishwasher Safe 12-Piece Coo

T-fal A113SC84 Family Cooking Nonstick Interior and Experior Oven Safe Dishwasher Safe 12-Piece Cookware Set, BlackThis is an awesome and functional set for a family, and my last set (identical to this one except for the lids) has lasted more than 8 years.

I recently picked up a few new T-fal pieces and really like the new glass lids that are included with this one. Maybe I'm a nosy cook, but being able to see inside is a huge advantage.

The pans are are practical sizes, and the set gives you almost everything you need for a kitchen. The one pan this set is missing is a Saute or Chicken pan, but those are hard to find I had to buy mine separately. However, until I found one (T-fal, of course), I used the deeper pot.

The key to using T-fal is to make sure you never heat it on anything other than a medium flame. A higher temperature will cause the T-fal to burn and you will slowly erode its ability to be nonstick. Also, if you use a dishwasher, you will need to season it again after using it a few times. The dishwashing soap will also cause your exterior to lose its gloss, although it won't impact the nonstick nature.

Also, while it is possible to use metal implements on it, it can get scratched over time, so I recommend wood or plastic.

I got these as a gift for myself and I am really enjoying them. I've only had them for a month, but I use them every day for everything from making crepes and pancakes to stew and steaming broccoli. They do fine in the dishwasher. And heat up nicely on the stove (haven't tried them in the oven).I am quite enjoying this set.

Fitx-All Replacement Pan Handle

Fitx-All Replacement Pan HandleWhen a handle broke on a fry pan that saw daily use for more than 25 years, I looked for a replacement. How disappointing to find that this Fitz-All handle is the only one on the market!I didn't realize how nice the original handle was until I replaced it with this lightweight, flimsy handle. But that's not the problem the problem is that it broke after only a couple of months.I bought a second one, which lasted seven months, and now I've ordered a third one. These handles apparently just can't stand up to the heat they start showing cracks and then break. When I get the new one, I plan to put it on a deeper pan to keep it farther from the heat source. Also, I don't use the deep pan very often, so maybe the handle will last longer.

If anyone finds a better alternative, please post a message!Meanwhile, I'll have to keep buying these cheap handles...

The Fitx-All are too poorly made to last any time.Aluminum screw included in package was too small and even if it did fit is too soft metal to tighten properly. The Fitx-All lid knobs broke in half when tighten down on the lid. If you do purchase these handles expect it to be quite temporary and disappointing.I do not trust these handles and will not put them on large fry pan or pots where they could break with hot food in them.

Bethany Housewares 365 Plett Pan

Bethany Housewares 365 Plett PanI have made only one attempt to use this plett pan, but it was very disappointing. No matter how well-greased the pan was, it was nearly impossible to turn the pancakes when they had cooked on one side. The pancakes stuck to the pan and burned as a result of my being unable to turn them in a timely fashion.I do not know if it is the texture of the pan, but as there were no instructions with it and it was, obviously, cheaply made in China, I would not recommend this version to anyone.

Johnson-Rose French Style Steel Fry Pan, 15 Inch x 2-1/4 InchThis arrived yesterday and I would send it back today if I hadn't thrown away the box.I used it last night to fry some scallops for company.I found that if the heat was enough to brown the scallops in the oil, then the fluid that seeped from the scallops burned and if I turned the heat down to avoid that, then the scallops wouldn't brown!!This morning I have burned on residual that won't come off despite lots of scrubing.Again, I'm learning that "you get what you paid for" i.e, $30 for a huge skillet results in junk!!

Sizzling Iron Steak Platter w/ Wooden Base

Sizzling Iron Steak Platter w/ Wooden BaseVery disappointing !! The wooden tray looks like a 1st year Wood Shop student made the tray. There are so many tool marks in the wood and the varnish is of very poor quality! The cast iron handle which one would use to pick up the hot steel tray is of very poor workmanship! This is a casting and the company did not bother to remove the flash from casting. If I were to keep this I would have to take a file and do major filing to repair to the cast iron handle to make it work on the tray. The handle would not fit on the tray to lift the tray properly. As for the cast iron steel tray, the tray appeared to me as though it was PAINTED BLACK. I for one am not real keen on eating on black paint !!Bottom line, The product is over priced and I would NEVER recommend this product!

Product is great for steaks.I ordered one then another after using the first.Pros: Keeps steak hot and juices on plate, great for reheating on grill also.Cons: Pretty pricey and I hope the wooden base holds up as long as the cast iron plate. If it does, it was well worth the extra money.

This is a very shoddy piece of merchandise.Beside the fact that the wooden platter has a finish that wouldn't hold up for 2 washings, the very thin cast iron tray does not fit into the hole securely.I can see the whole thing slipping off and hitting the floor on the way back to the serving table. It is so difficult to determine quality from a small picture on the web and this item was the perfect example. It looked reasonably substantial in the photo, but when it arrived It looked like it should be offered for sale at the dollar store.

Bialetti 8-Piece Aeternum Ceramic Non-Stick Cookware Set, RedI'm italian living in the USA and I bought the Bialetti Brand because is very well knowed in Italy as a good brand. But these items started to chip out pieces and being scretced since the first 2 days. All of them, evne if some of the pans I probably used only 2 or 3 times they alraedy look old and you can see the metal. Unfortunately when I received them I threw away ALL my old pans and now I'm stuck with this horrible chipped ones that I just bought 4 months ago!!! i oly used soft sponges and organic mineral based soaps. They are also starting to get "brownish"in the middle hwere the heat is stronger. I'm EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED!!! Just don't buy it.

I bought the 3 skillets from BB&B. Not Cheap. The inside of the skillets is starting to turn black where it is like there were scratches. I never use anything but plastic or wood when I am cooking with these skillets. The red exterior is pealing on the bottom. I now wish I never bought them. Yes the ceraminc coating chips a little where they touch each other when you stack them in the cabinet but it doesn't effect how they cook food. When receiving it the box was damaged and the rims of the pans were scratched. Out of desperation of needing cookware I did not bother to return it as the costs of shipping from Australia outweight the costs of the actual item. So I am stuck with good performing cookware that dont look presentable at all. Dissapointed with the appearance however love the way these cook.

Lodge Logic L8IC3 Cast Iron Lid, 10.25-inch

Lodge Logic L8IC3 Cast Iron Lid, 10.25-inchIf you own the Lodge Logic 10-1/4-inch skillet, this cover allows for more versatility. It allows for even heating and dutch oven type use. If you prepare something, and just want to keep it warm, or use it outdoors and need protection. It also will seal in nutrients and flavorsbecause of the tight fit, and also the self-basting spikes. I used another lid in a pinch, but it didnt give me the same cooking results as the Lodge lid. The 3-quart chicken fryer, and 5-quart Dutch oven have the same size lids, and you can interchange those lids, but I found I was using them at the same times often, and needed a seperate lid for my skillet. For the price, it just doesnt make sense not to go ahead and have one.

I love the lid that goes with my Lodge Logic 10-1/4-Inch Pre-Seasoned Skillet. It is obvious that many other people love their Lodge cookware too.Ever since Joseph Lodge started making cast iron cookware in the 1800's --the company goes back to 1896 -people have been loving it and passing it down from one generation to the next.

If we decide to get a 3-quart chicken fryer or 5-quart Dutch oven, this lid will work fine for them too.The self-basting spikes keep the lid fitting snugly.

It came preseasoned and ready to use.We hand wash it and the skillet. We don't submerge it in water for long periods. Instead of draining it, we dry it with a dish towel immediately. The we spray it lightly with Pam(PAM-Original No Stick Cooking Spray, 3/8oz Cans) or rub it with an oil saturated paper towel. When we store it we place a folded paper towel between the lid and the utensil to allow air to circulate.

We try to remember not to shock it and the skillet by placing cold water in the hot pan.

I hope you find this review helpful.

As far as I know, (I have the 8" and 12" equivalents of this lid as well), the 12" lid is the only one that has little flanges (?) that cover the spout portion of the corresponding skillet. So less steam will escape. This lid does not have those flanges, so steam will escape from the spouts. Also, the resulting hole will let dust/flies in.

When I got the lid, the "self-basting spikes" (see picture) were not on the description list, so I had really no idea what they were for.I thought it might have been a manufacturing artifact.Or considering that the pioneers didn't have much space, it had dual functions, like maybe you can use it double up as a grill, or use it to tenderize/hold meat, or play Chinese Checkers. The premise of the self-basting spikes is that as condensation forms on the underside of the lid, the liquid will drip down those spikes evenly on the food.I think it works pretty well the only real problem I have with this lid is that it is soooo heavy. And not clear.Oh well.

The lid was surprisingly easy to season, though.I thought I might have to cook on it to get it properly seasoned, but after 1 session in the oven, it came out better-seasoned looking than my matching griddle.

I looked at it like this:

The 5 Qt. Dutch Oven cover fits the 10 1/4" skillet.

The 10 1/4" cover is $16.99

The 5 Qt. Dutch Oven is $26.99

If I subtract what I'd spend for the 10 1/4"cover, the D.O. Only costs $10.00 more. That's a big hunk of iron for a mere $10.00.

I did the same thing by buying the 7 Qt. D.O. with Spiral Handle because the cover fits my 12" skillet.

Also, I found a brush that works very well to clean the pans and lids Power Tip Dish & Glass Brush

Joyce Chen 21-9971, Classic Series 4-Piece Carbon-Steel Nonstick Wok Set

Joyce Chen 21-9971, Classic Series 4-Piece Carbon-Steel Nonstick Wok SetThis is the "4 pc. 14 in. Xylan Nonstick Wok Set" From the description on the Amazon product page I was expecting the "4 pc. 14" Carbon Steel Wok Set"

The pan looks nice, but has the handle problem others described. There is a metal component that goes through the wooden handle and screws into the part bolted onto the wok. That bolt is too long so if you hold the wooden handle the pan will spin upside down. Not a good thing to happen when cooking hot food!

I'll likely be returning this since a natural carbon steel wok is more authentic and cooks hotter and I don't feel like cutting down the bolt to get the handle to actually function properly.

Using a wooden spoonscratched on the 2nd use. I was browning cashews, so maybe that did it.I paid just 12 at Amazon warehouse, but still not worth it.

Update:Sis used the Seasoning recommended prior to use (I had reminded her of this from the Ebook Sample I downloaded). She had no cleaning nor sticking problems, just the food was too spicy for hubby and teenager.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

I purchased this as part of a list my Sister gave me for Christmas.I went more by reviews than the price of the item.I also asked if she wanted one for the stove, or an electric plug in device.

Turns out this was THE PERFECT Wok.After purchasing some books (in particular Stir-Frying to the Sky's Edge previewed it first), a carbon steel wok is the best to cook with.I also wanted to introduce her to some e reading.

She enjoyed that there was more than just the Wok in her package.Since her Hubby was a little stingy (Scroogy?), she claimed this was her most favorite gift.

So far, this earns a 5 star review. She says I'm invited over sometime next week for Stir Fry after that if I need to edit the stars .... ;-)

PS for her hardcover tastes, and those beginning lessons I also included Wok Cooking Made Easy: Delicious Meals in Minutes (Learn to Cook Series)

Cuisinart 55-10BK Advantage Nonstick 10-Piece Cookware Set, Black

Cuisinart 55-10BK Advantage Nonstick 10-Piece Cookware Set, Black-Paint peels off after first exposure to oil

-Ineffective and unprofessional customer "care"

-Unusable "warranty"

We bought this set in January with intentions for sporadic use. It was a very nice-looking set, which is essentialour kitchen is small so we have to hang most of the pans in view. We used the set without incident for a short while, taking care not to use metal spoons or anything that would scrape the nonstick finish. The appearance of the bottom changed to some degree with dishwasher use, but that may be expected. After owning for about 5 months, we dared to use the frypans for actual frying, with oil. We left the pans to cool. When we tried to clean the pans, we saw some oil had accumulated on the outside of the pans. Upon scrubbing, the outer paint actually began stripping off of the pans!

We checked online, since the entire set had been shipped with no paperwork. At the Cuisinart site, we found "customer care" information, so we called about the warranty. The website indicates that the warranty is good whether you register or not.

In short, Cuisanart's "customer care" seems pretty pointless. First, upon explaining that the damage was on 3 of the pieces, they could not understand why a customer would want to return the entire set (because if the product is that easy to damage why would you want to keep the remainder?)plus, if you find problems with their products, you have to do the following:

-Ship the products at your OWN expense for them to look at

-Send money to pay THEM to inspect your faulty product$7 PER piece

-then, if THEY decide their product did not meet your expectation, they will decide what happens next. They did not indicate whether they ship you more of the product you no longer want, or if they offer you a refund that may or may be less than the money you spent to get the product inspected.

With all of this, it seems that we'd pay 1/3 to 1/2 of the price we got the whole set for, with no guarantee of any solution to the problem. We are currently following up with written correspondence to Cuisinart to see if they can offer any higher level of customer service. Further details TBA.

I found this set to be the best buy for getting the basics. The non-stick pans are great for sautéing and eggs come out unbelievable. There is a good variety in this set. The handles have a sturdy construction and are always cool to the touch. Having glass lids is also helpful to watch food without loosing heat while cooking. I cook a lot and buy many different types of cookware depending on what I'm making, so this set is a good base to start with and build on.

I chose this gift for my companies 10 year service award, I needed a new set of pans so thought it would be perfect!Received the cookware and used it for almost 3 months.I noticed that one of the pans had the teflon bubbling up on the pan. After washing it now there are patches of the non-stick coating gone! So, I thought I would just contact them, I filled out the registration card so it would be under warranty.First it took me 2 e-mails to even get a response from them. They they told me to ship it back to them, me paying the shipping of course and to enclose $7 for them to return the pan to me after they "inspected" it.They didn't say if they would send a new pan if I was getting the old pan, nothing.I'm sorry but me being the customer why am I to pay for their poor product to be returned to them and then pay to maybe have their poor product shipped back to me.No, I don't think so.I will NEVER buy ANYTHING from them again!!

Calphalon Contemporary Nonstick 12-Inch Everyday Pan

Calphalon Contemporary Nonstick 12-Inch Everyday PanMy wife is an excellent chef. We eat high-end restaurant quality dinner virtally every night. We bought a set of non-stick pans quite a number of years ago, and one pan was used so much that she essentially wore it out and the non-stick surface eventually failed. The pan that she liked so much, and used almost every day was a pan that is very similar to this pan. The pan has no long handles, but rather two short handles, one on each side, making it very easy to grip and control. When I started to look for a replacement, I immediately found the Calphalon Everyday Pan. The first one I bought was the hard anodized 12" pan. She loved it but she also wished that it was non-stick. I also bought the 10" non-stick at the same time as this first pan. She loved that one also and used it all the time, but needed the 12". So, we turned around and bought this non-stick 12" Everyday Pan. She literally uses one of these three pans (almost always the 12" Calphalon non-stick) every day. Since I do the dishes, I am aware how much of a daily pattern it is. These pans are fantastic. We both particularly like the two short handles used on these pans. You get tremendous control of the pan with the two small handles compared to the one long handle or even the combinations of one long and one short handle. if you have never used one of these pans, you owe it to yourself to buy one and give it a try. My guess is that would will find it one of the most useful and versatile pans in the kitchen. Wonderful product by a wonderful manufacturer!!

This pan is the pefect pan for so much of my cooking.

It is for that reason that I am so frustrated with the amount of heat the side handles and the top handle retain.

I have never burnt my fingers as much as I have with these pans.

The non stick surface is amazing, and the pans clean up in a second.

They would get a five star if they threw in a set of insulated handle covers.

Great pan and great size.Rarely does a day go by when I don't use this pan, if not at breakfast then surely by dinner.One-pot meals, frittatas, braised chicken... you name it.

The non-stick works well, the glass top is nice and heavy, and the pan is durable and cleans up like a dream. Oh, and I simply love that I can put it in the oven!

I had originally been looking for a pan that would replace an old deep skillet. This pan isn't quite as deep as my previous skillet, but it still works well in our house. One thing that drew me to this pan was the idea of the two handles one on either side.I've found them to be very practical and it works great on a busy, crowded stovetop.Just keep in mind that if you are trying the two-handled pan for the first time, pouring off liquids is a little more difficult; the long-handle on other skillets give you leverage as you tip the pan and it keeps your hand away from the heat. With this pan (and others like it), you have to hold on with a potholder as you pour or strain. The handle on the lid also gets quite hot, but just remember to lift it off with a potholder and you're fine.

I'm quite pleased with Calphalon and after this purchase, I bought a grill pan and an omelet pan as well I love them all so much I rarely use anything else!

I have had this pan for several years (in fact, I own three, in different sizes). It cooks very uniformly, and it has proven to be very long-lasting (I wash it always by hand). It is also very easy to wash and maintain. It works very well over glass cooktops. It is very much better than the common cheap aluminum pans: the non-stick material is much better applied, and has no tendency to peel, and the heat distribution is much more uniform.

I recommend it highly.

Emeril E914SC64 PRO-CLAD Tri-Ply Stainless Steel 12 or 13 Piece Cookware Set

Emeril by All-Clad E914SC64 PRO-CLAD Tri-Ply Stainless Steel Dishwasher Safe 12-Piece Cookware Set, SliverI'm just a guy who likes to cook. The Berndes teflon sauce pans that I've been using for years were starting to deteriorate, and I knew I wanted to replace them with a set of stainless steel clad cookware. As much as my ego wanted All Clad or Demeyere, I just couldn't justify the cost. After a lot of research and store trips, I decided on the Calphalon Tri-Ply set. Deciding to make one last attempt to kill any buyer's remorse, I made one more trip to Bed Bath and Beyond just to be sure. That's when I spotted the Emerilware Pro-Clad set (this is the fully-clad line, not the original line with the heavy disk welded to the bottom). I should say I'm not really a fan of Emeril -he's just another TV personality to me. I rarely watch his shows, and I've never eaten in his restaurants. If anything, I'm the kind of person who would avoid celebrity endorsed products.

Enough with the caveats. I wasn't crazy about the handles on the Calphalon set. Too skinny and short for my hands. When I grabbed the Emerilware sauce pan, it was instantly very comfortable in my hand. The handle is much beefier than pretty much any other SS cookware I picked up. Performance-wise, the handles stay cool on the stovetop (I have a glasstop). Even the loop handles on the stockpot were cool enough to pick up and drain a pot of spaghetti. Love the handles. The pieces have a slight heft to them without being unwieldy. I have a couple of old monster fry pans, and these are very easy to manage in comparison. Good weight and balance. Also, liquids pour nicely off the rolled lip.

I've had no problem adjusting to SS after using teflon for a lot of years. I use olive oil or canola oil, and have had no problem with food sticking or burning. I love the saute pan for searing steaks, chicken, and pork chops, then throwing it into the hot oven to finish. Back on the stovetop (using a pot holder, duh), a little bit of chicken broth or wine deglazes the pan and makes a quick an easy sauce. I find that I use all of the pieces in the set on a regular basis. The steamer is useful as we prefer to steam our veggies. If you follow the instructions and keep an eye on the heat, these things clean up with absolutely no problem. Any residual discoloration or stubborn bits come right off with Barkeepers Friend.

I deducted one star for the following small gripes: I would have preferred SS lids instead of glass, even though I haven't run into any drawbacks with the glass. Next, the Pro-Clad line is somewhat limited compared to other brands. I picked up the largest (3 qt) saucepan to round out the set -I would have preferred a 4 qt with an extra loop handle, but it' not offered. I'm hoping the manufacturer adds other choices to the line over time. It would be nice to have a matching saucier or wok, for instance. Lastly, I've noticed that the frying pan is warped very slightly, maybe 1/16", so that it rocks a little bit on the glasstop. I didn't notice if it came out of the box this way, or warped slightly from the heat of the stove. It doesn't seem to affect the performance anyway. All of the other pieces are perfectly flat on the bottom. I inspected all of the pieces for burrs, and found them all to be perfectly smooth.

In summary, my wife and I are really pleased with our purchase of the Emerilware Pro-Clad set. It works great and looks great. We expect them to give us many years of great food.

I was reluctant to get a stainless set because of the reviews of those who found it easy to stain their pans -a fear reinforced by the pamphlet that came with the set warning of possible pitting from salt and discoloration from too high heat! And, sure enough, on about the third or fourth use, my wife cooked up some salty canned soup and one of the sauce pans looked like an oil slick with blue and pink hues that would not wash off.So, I hit the Internet and learned about Barkeeper's Friend (which I ordered) and vinegar. While I was waiting for the BarKeeper's Friend, I put some white vinegar in the sauce pan with some water.Almost instantly, the pan -which seemed cosmetically damaged beyond repair -was looking as good as new.I did heat the water, but I believe the stains were gone as soon as I added the vinegar to the pans. The pamphlet writer evidently didn't know the vinegar trick!!

Cook with less heat and wait until the water is hot before adding salt -the combination will ensure that the pans continue to look new after repeated use.Lower heat and the use of the covers (there's a reason for having them -and you won't even get a false scare.

Barkeeper's Friend -a less abrasive version of a cleansing powder -works well to remove minor stains from both the inside and the outside of the pans with no scrubbing required beyond that you can do with a sponge.

But, it's not about the pan's looks -even though it was great to find that the looks can readily be maintained. It's about the even heating. There are no hot spots. The reason you're paying extra for these pans is that their heat distribution is simply excellent, something you may never have experienced with cheaper sets.If you haven't experienced cooking with even heat, you don't miss it.But, once you do, you'll never want to go back.

I'm happy with the set and delighted that the complaints encountered about stainless steel picking up stains are misguided.Yes, with too high heat, with salt being added to cold water, or with some canned soups, the pans may appear damaged and will not respond to just anything. But, the vinegar trick is totally effective with discolored pans and the Bartender's Helper dispatches little black marks that may show up with ease.

Finally, if food gets burnt on to the pan, throw some water into the pan and bring it to a boil. The food can be easily scraped loose with a plastic spatula and Barkeeper's Friend will dispatch dispatch any relatively stubborn spots.

With reasonable care, the good looks of the pans can be retained indefinitely. And, should there be some staining that I haven't encountered, the pans will continue to do their jobs well anyway. It's stainless steel.Nothing will leach from the pans into your system.Teflon isn't necessary.Warm the pans before adding food, and the food doesn't stick with a little cooking spray or oil to help things along.

I'm not one to take much time with giving reviews (very busy!), however, without the reviews of others who have gone before I would have had a much tougher time making the very big decision on what cookware to buy for my new induction stove.I researched for two weeks! So for those who are researching, here's my two cents:If you don't already know, only certain cookware will work on an induction cooktop (magnetic stainless steel, cast iron, enameled steel if a magnet sticks, it'll work, but it should stick firmly for best results).I Purchased an entire set of Emeril Pro-Clad Tri-Ply stainless cookware and LOVE IT!(I did purchase one piece of Emeril's clad-bottom cookware to test first, and it didn't perform as well as the Pro-Clad Tri-Ply.I think that line might be more suited for gas or electric burners?).This cookware is the result of a collaboration between All-Clad & Emeril, and for the price it is an incredible value.Heats evenly, handles don't get hot, they clean up easily (thanks to all you folks who recommended Barkeepers friend it really works)and the glass lids allow viewing of the contents while cooking.I wasn't really a fan of the glass lids, but I'm liking them a lot now.I'm not a professional chef, but I can see that the cookware heats very evenly and like the cooking results I've achieved so far.In addition, it is substantial and heavy enough to work on induction without being too heavy to lift.Seems very well made (there is not much difference in weight or looks between this and the All-Clad cookware I looked at) and it looks as though I made the right decision! The experience of this home cook is that this product is superb!

I'd easily give 5 stars if it had a a 2 instead of 2.5 qt, and if a 4 qt were available in the line (even at additional cost).

This is the first set of pots and pans that I've bought myself. I did a ton of research, and ultimately decided on this set over the less expensive Emerilware set (with copper bottoms) and over the similarly-priced Calphalon line, that was made to compete directly with this line. After nearly a year, I still absolutely love them. They've held up beautifully, are sturdy, cook well and evenly, and still look more or less brand new inside and out.

Why I chose, and recommend this set:

1. Overall quality and sturdiness.

I was told that All-Clad (who makes this set) is a bit sturdier than Calphalon (in particular with regard to the riveting of the handles). Don't know if that's true, but these are absolutely sturdy pots and pans. Good weight, thick metal, and a good feel. They've held up beautifully.

2. Stainless.

I did not want non-stick, in particular with the health concerns, or cast-iron. I have to admit, I like the aesthetic too. If this is a consideration for you, note that these continue to look beautiful if you take care of them.

3. Tri-ply core throughout.

Note the less expensive set only has a copper BOTTOM. This means they won't heat as evenly, and are a bit more cheaply-made. The heat won't be as strong along the sides, which is a factor for your deep pots when heating sauces, and for the skillet. This is a good, high-quality set.

4. HANDLES Don't underestimate this. I was considering the Calphalon set, but when I picked them up, the curved handle they have did not feel as good as the straight handle on these Emerilwares. This may be personal preference, but I strongly recommend holding both to see which you prefer. They have very different feels, and for me, the Calphalons' curved handle felt quite a bit less stable, almost as though when pouring it could turn in my hand, and even as though my hand might cramp or struggle to keep it steady. These Emerils have a great, solid handle that's very comfortable ergonomically. I love the feel.

5. Glass tops.

Yes, I DO want to see when my sauces are bubbling, and when I need to turn the heat up or down.

6. Price.

I just could not afford to spend 600, 700, 800, 1,000+ on pots and pans. Yet I did not want a cheap set that would not last, felt flimsy, or didn't cook well or evenly. This price point seemed like the perfect match, after tons of research. They're good quality, but not outrageously expensive.

7. Aesthetic.

Again the stainless. Cleans up easily. I recommend Bartender's Friend after soap and water. Quick and easy, and they shine. I read/heard one or two people say they had problems with stains or discoloration. I experienced what I suspect they're referring to only once, after I'd cooked on a fairly high heat, and even then, with Bartender's Friend and a little elbow grease, they shined up like new. If you experience this, cook on a slightly lower heat. I've been told you shouldn't cook on high with stainless which conducts heat better than non-stick. Since turning the heat down, I haven't seen this happen again.

Only drawback(s):

1. There's no 4 Qt. pot. I may pick up the Emerilware copper-bottom pot for this.

2. There's a 2.5 Qt instead of 2 qt. Not a big deal. But, it's close in size to the 3 qt. In a perfect world, I'd have a 1, 2, 3, and 4 qt. Instead, this has a 1, 2.5, and 3. Again, this wasn't a deal-breaker.

3. Emerilware logo: Not a big fan of big logos, but it doesn't bother me. However, if you use Bartender's Friend directly on the logo, I found it bleaches it to a lighter color. This could be good or bad, depending on your perspective.

Overall, this is a fantastic set, and if you're looking in the price range for stainless, I can't imagine you'd be unhappy. I can't recommend these pots and pans highly enough. Again, 5 stars if it had a 2 qt and if a 4 qt were available in the line.

If you want All-Clad quality for a reduced price, this is the set to buy.If you buy this set, its also a fantastic opportunity to get Amazon Prime essentially for FREE.When I bought this a month ago, you got a free 12" pro-clad skillet and 10" cast iron grill pan if you bought $300 or more in emerilware.I did, and the shipping for all pieces came to $65 dollars.I looked at amazon prime, and I bought a year's subscription for $70 dollars, and got 2nd day shipping of the pans for free.:)

As for the pans themselves... This are stainless steel tri-ply pans.All-Clad makes them for emeril, and they bear the quality of all-clad pans. Its a terrific value, even without the freebies above. You're not going to find any major differences when it comes to the shortcomings of stainless steel when comparing to other brands, more expensive or not.All stainless steel pans will rainbow with extreme heat, and will watermark, and tarnish, and will be harder to get baked on bits Off compared to nonstick. The trick is knowing the cleaning tools to make like easier. In the previous reviews, the two essential products were covered.Barkeeper's friend: cookware version, and distilled white vinegar.I definately recomend the cookware version of barkeeper's friend over the standard, as it does not contain abrasives that will scratch your pans.Since I started cleaning my stainless steel with BKF,I have no issues with tarnishing.my pans stay looking new.Its all about having the right tools for the job.

I also will never dishwash a pot or pan, nonstick or not. They deserve handwashing treatment for prolonged life. Never let them soak more than a few minutes to get off grease.a good way to loose your pan to the elements is let it set submerged in water covered in grime.

I love the ability to cook on the stovetop, then switch to oven.Stainless steel is meant to trap all those bits of meat on the bottom for the purpose of deglazing to make sauces or gravies.lets see a traditional non-grooved nonstick pan do that.I still use nonstick, but for certain tasks.stainless steel just doesn't do eggs right. :)and if you say it does, you're most likely deep frying them from the grease you need to use to keep them from sticking, don't own a nonstick pan, or can't admit stainless steel isn't good for all jobs. :)I keep my old trusty 10" nonstick just for sunday mornin' Eggs. :)
