T-fal D9133364 Signature Hard Anodized Nonstick 10-Inch Skillet with Glass Lid Cookware, Gray

T-fal D9133364 Signature Hard Anodized Nonstick 10-Inch Skillet with Glass Lid Cookware, GrayI received this as a Christmas gift, purchased off of my wishlist. I'd never seen the pan in Real Life, but picked it out for the price, the brand, and the size. I can now say........I love this pan! I confess that I make a lot of skillet meals (you know, those boxed "helper" kind) and this pan is perfect. The sides are nice and tall, which solves the problem of boil over or, in my case, slop over from stirring. It's a nice weight for me; heavy enough to feel good and solid, but not so heavy that I can't lift it off the burner when filled. It's super easy to clean, too. All in all, this is an exceptional product, especially for the price.

Compared with many other 10" skillets, this holds more stuff since it's deeper (6") than most.Since the lid has a nice high arch you can easily cook a big chicken in it along with a mess of veggies.

The non-stick surface is very non-stick!Trivial to clean.(I was careful to follow the instructions exactly and seasoned the skillet before I used it the first time)

The pan is heavy but the second handle makes it easy to manipulate.

The one thing I can't comment on is durability. It appears to be solid and well made but it'll take years of use before I can tell if the non-stick surface holds up.If it doesn't, I'll update the review.

Looks good, too!

I bought this T-Fal Signature Hard Anodized 10 inch covered skillet for a Christmas gift. It was the best skillet we have ever had. It cooks so evenly and heats so evenly on the glass top stove. Also has a vent in the cover which allows steam to escape. I highly recommend it.

I bought this very deep frying pan to replace my worn out 10" one. That pan was part of a set and it gave me many good years. This time I wanted something deeper so I could make sauces and stews without having to use dutch ovens.I just cooked an Italian meat sauce with it and it came out perfect. The glass lid has a tiny vent to allow steam out and that really helps.Last night I cooked flanken with vegetables and again the result was just great.I assume it would also make great fried chicken but I have too much tummy to cook that. This pan is a great value and I am fairly sure you will love it.

This is one pan I want to like. The non-stick surface is truly non-stick. The size is very convenient for many uses (deep, flat bottom, easily cleaned, etc.).

Durability, however, is in doubt. I have taken great care not use it on my gas cooktop at any heat setting higher than medium. Despite this caution, the portion of the handle nearest the pan itself is already disintegrating from the heat. I've only used the pan three times, and this is very disturbing.

I am hoping that offsetting the pan from the flame (so that the handle is farther away from the heat) will slow the meltdown. Too bad!

BergHOFF Earthchef Premium Copper Clad 10-Piece Cookware Set

BergHOFF Earthchef Premium Copper Clad 10-Piece Cookware SetThis cookware was stated to be great for glass top stoves and " would never warp " ...unfortunately mine came slightly warped right out of the box. I called customer service and they were polite, and when asked if they were supposed to be perfectly flat he said yes and to return them if they werent. I opted for a refund and not a replacement. The sides of the stock pot are very thin as well as the other pans walls. They did boil water fairly quickly. Also, one reason I chose this set is because BergHoff is a Belgium company and I was under the impression that these were made in Belgium. When asked, the customer service representative could only say that they had plants all over the world and had no way of knowing where they were made. I'm trying not to buy stuff made in China and he said that it was possible they could have been made there. There was no indication where they were made either on the pans themselves or the box. The bottom of the pan did say BergHoff Belgium, but not made in Belgium. They were not packaged very well and I could hear pans rattling, although none were damaged. Being this is the first review of this set I feel bad giving such a negative impression, but its my honest assessment of this product and I feel that one of the strengths of amazon is the reviews, I find them to be very helpful.

()Once upon a time, I was a very serious cook. There was nothing I wouldn't tackle in my home kitchen.Over the years, my cooking has become more utilitarian, with only occasional flights of creative fantasy. And with limited disposable income, I have to admit that I never have the best culinary tools on hand.I recently upgraded my pots and pans to the BergHOFF Earthchef Premium Copper Clad 10-Piece Cookware Set, and I have to tell you, it's been a real eye-opener!

Here is what I mean by that: just by having better cooking implements, I get a noticeably improved end product. This is especially evident with, for instance, the sauté pans. These pans conduct heat better and more evenly than my old, cheap pans.Fish fillets and potstickers come out with a pleasing crispness that had been lacking or difficult to achieve in the past, and more evenly browned. This sort of difference is more difficult to quantify with a pasta pot, but who's to say the water isn't coming to a boil faster?I should really do an experiment to test this.)

These are not non-stick pans, so you'll have to use a little fat or Pam while cooking certain foods, but I have not had notable difficulty with foods sticking when they shouldn't.

My final comment is the most superficial, but it's worth noting how nice these pots and pans look in my kitchen! It's lovely to have a full matching set, and they're attractive enough that I feel I can serve in them. The ten pieces that make up this set are well-chosen.They may not fill every single culinary need that I have, but they're good for the vast majority of them.I have to admit that I've never cooked with the very finest/most expensive pots and pans on the market, so I can't compare, but the Earthchef set is such a radical improvement over what I had been using that I could not be more delighted!

()Okay so a little background on me... I learned to cook in a steakhouse kitchen and I am accustomed to putting my cookware through absolute hell in order to get food turned out quickly.I've been extremely disappointed in a number of prominent brands because of their ability to stand up to high-heat, multi-condition cooking.I spend at least 20 hours a week in the kitchen at my house so I can be somewhat picky about my cookware.

I received this pan set as part of the Amazon Vine program and after seeing some of the initial reviews, I was ready to be disappointed.I can tell you after almost a month of using this set in every condition I could think of, this is a 5-star product.I have broiled with it, sautéed, cooked down tomato stock, deep fried, pan fried, and straight up baked with it.I've been nothing but thoroughly impressed. This is not "non-stick" cookware but I have yet to burn anything to it.Clean up has been amazing and as long as you follow the maintenance instructions included in the package you won't have any problems.Again though this is not a "non-stick" set; in all honesty, this set couldn't perform half as well as it does if it were.We have not yet had to soak any of the pans to get food off and we clean them with a nylon bristle brush (I have had more issues cleaning residue out of Teflon coated pans).

I really love the stock pan that it comes with and I had no problems with warping or staining after using to cook down several bushels of tomatoes over the course of two days (the pot was on heat for over 8 hours each time).I love being able to through the pans cover and all into the broiler to finish what I'm cooking or to hold it warm (again no problems with warping even in using the pans to broil in).I love being able to use my metal utensils instead of having to use flimsy nylon spatulas, etc.I've yet to scratch or mar any of my pans yet.

In my opinion this is an intermediate set of cookware for people used to cooking on stainless steel. If you rely heavily on non-stick cookware, it's going to take some getting used to.My only issue with using the pans (and this was more of a learning curve on my part) is that the pans hold heat really well.It takes some forethought when removing the pan from heat as it has a tendency to still cook for a few minutes after turning the burner off.If you want something that can hold up to heat and that will allow you to maintain a large degree of versatility in how you cook, go with this set.I have been shamelessly touting it to all my friends since I got it.

()If you read Amazon's description, you'd think that this is a sort of organic or green non-stick cookware. But I think it's inadvertantly misleading because as I understand it, the description for this cookware covers a number of different products in BergHoff's "EarthChef" line, some of which have non-stick coatings. In fact, you can see the non-stick coating in the photos, but these appear to me to be regular stainless cookware and not non-stick cookware.

I sent an e-mail to BergHoff over a week ago to ask where these pans are made and I also asked what the thickness of the stainless was.To date I have not received a reply. Not good.

So what's the quality of the pans like?Frankly, I think it's just so-so.Most of my pans are All-Clad, Calphalon or Meyer.Generally, I think these pans are much lower quality.Obviously, you'd expect them to be inferior to All-Clad and the like, but even if you can get it out of your head that I even mentioned All-Clad, I think these are just ok pans and pots. Not great, not bad.

The material used seems thin. Also, I experienced more discoloration than what I was used to after only my first use. There was also a clear sticker over the copper disc on the bottom and I didn't see this.So it melted all over my burner and then baked on, making for a messy clean up.

This cookware is "copper clad" and while it took longer to heat than I might have expected, it did retain heat well. Not sure what make this cookware so Earthy, as they seem like regular old stainless pots and pans to me.

The cookware arrived packaged well and I did not notice any warping, as did another reviewer.

As of this writing, this set is a somewhere under $200 with free shipping. So that strikes me as being a reasonable deal for someone looking for a cookware set.So I suppose that I would generally recommend it, but you get what you pay for. It's a decent set, but not a great one, in my view.I'm disappointed that BergHoff doesn't promptly respond to their e-mails too.Hopefully, my experience was the exception and not the rule.

I've been using these pans for about 3 months. The stainless steel is naturally non-stick.Although not to the same degree as Teflon, food washes off with minor elbow grease and a little warm soap.Which is okay with me since I'm trying to remove carcinogens from the kitchen.I've had to adjust my cooking due to the fact that the copper core heats up quickly and retains heat well. These pans are so good, I've realized just how crappy the stove is.Handles stay cool, and the classic design is a definite plus.I was also looking specifically for a set with a saucier (deep skillet), which is difficult to come by.Try a roux in this and you'll never go back to a saucepan. My killer mac and cheese sauce cooks up in 20 minutes now, versus the former hour! And the two-handle design and stove-friendly construction means this set is highly flexible. Can't recommend these any higher, looking forward to having these for years to come.

All Clad 5110-40-GEN Stainless Steel 10-Inch 40th Anniversary Skillet

All Clad 5110-40-GEN Stainless Steel 10-Inch 40th Anniversary SkilletThis is the best skillet I have ever used. Read all the reviews and knew to use a low temperature. I think the real trick to using the skillet is the little pat of real butter. I have never spent this much on a skillet before, I was hesitant but now I want more. I think a lid should come with it for this much money but it is extra. Seldom need a lid for this small of a skillet but I would need one for the larger skillet. Worth every penny. My first test was fried eggs.If a skillet is going to stick , eggs will stick but the eggs slid around in the skillet without the slightest hint of sticking.I was tempted to throw on some cheese, maybe next time. Wish I knew when the sales were going to be so I could get them for a good price again.

One word of caution, don't think the real butter "spread" is the same as real butter, it is not and it will cause your food to stick. I don't know what they put in it but stay away from anything that is not real butter for cooking if you don't want a sticky mess in your pans.

Lodge Logic L8DSK3 Pre-Seasoned Deep Skillet, 10.25-inch

Lodge Logic L8DSK3 Pre-Seasoned Deep Skillet, 10.25-inchI'll keep this short and sweet; this is Lodge Logic's 3-qt. chicken fryer, without the lid. (Amazon says the chicken fryer is 4" deep, but Lodge's web site confirms both are 3" deep).

So... if you already have a 10" lid, don't need another one and want this style pot, this is a good value.

It has all the great traits you expect of Lodge Logic excellent, even heat transmission, natural non-stick seasoning, and complete invulnerability to anything your burners can dish out.The size is very handy for things like chili for one or two, where the additional depth is welcome but a Dutch oven would be overkill, and the 10" skillet/chicken fryer/Dutch oven lid fits this pot.I'm very pleased with this deep skillet and already had a lid.

So... if you have a Lodge lid and/or have a 5-qt Dutch oven in the same order, go for this pan!If you want to get a lid with it, get the Lodge Logic chicken fryer; it's much cheaper than buying the deep skillet and lid separately.

This is a great pan.I have several frying pans, and am saving up for a certain style Dutch oven and double-burner griddle.Cast iron, like anything, has its pros and cons.It is heavy, making it hard to lift and carry; but it also doesn't move if you bump the handle or are using both hands to hold another vessel that you're pouring from into the pan.It comes preseasoned, eliminating that step that should be repeated several times on a non-preseasoned pan prior to use.Things DON'T stick to this pan, as is always the misconception, precisely because of the preseasoning. It imparts a small amount of iron into the food, which is good, as most people are deficient in iron.Cleanup is a bit tedious (no soap or detergent, hot water with a stiff brush, no dishwasher, dry immediately); a small amount of extra time for the care and upkeep, but time well spent in the scheme of things. If it were to rust for whatever reason (you found grandma's pan in the leaky basement; she put it in storage twenty years ago when she moved and forgot about it), it is easily scoured, seasoned, and ready to go.Rarely, except under extreme circumstances, would you ever have to replace a cast-iron pan.

I started making the switch to cast iron about six months ago.My husband cooks, I don't; he didn't want cast iron, I did.The deal that we had before the cast iron continued--he cooks, I clean. He has no complaints (other than the weight, from time to time), and that he sometimes forgets to put the insulated handle on before grabbing the handle of the pan.But that's "operator error", nothing to do with the pan itself.I switched to cast iron because of the toxicity of nonstick coatings, such as Teflon.Cast iron is better for your health, it will last generations with proper care, it does not offgas toxic fumes, and it does not flake like nonstick coatings which, it is recommended, have to be discarded.

My 11-year-old has taken a great interest in cooking and watches cooking shows a lot, namely on the Food Network. He is very aware of tools used and techniques employed, and noted that many of the chefs and cooks use cast iron, and the ease and sometimes importance of being able to leave the food in the pan but transferring the pan from the stove to the oven.Only with cast iron can you do this safely.

Self-basting lids (when lids are used) help to evenly distribute "condensation", keeping the food uniformly moist.I researched pans vs. Dutch ovens, skillets vs. frying pans, handle vs. tab, and am very happy with all my purchases. If you are thinking about purchasing cast iron, of course consider your needs, but also look carefully at product descriptions as to size of pan (diameter and depth), and try different search terms as this will sometimes yield different results. The terms 'skillet', 'frying pan', 'deep fryer', and 'chicken fryer' will give you a bigger variety of similar pans from which to choose.I would also recommend paying a little more for an American-made product (I prefer Lodge; it has a long history to look at); they are heavier (better quality, more evenly distribute the heat); and American products from a reputable company will more than likely follow governmental guidelines for safety. What you're cooking in the pan will go in your body; be cognizant about what can leach from the pan into the food.

EXACTLY what I wanted and needed. You can't beat Lodge cast iron for the most even and best cooking. The 4" side is between a skillet and my Dutch oven and has already become my most used cooking tool.

I have used cast iron for years and love it. I decided to get this deep skillet because I have made a mess quite a few times while frying in my regular skillet and thought this would be a good idea for me. I do like having the extra depth, but wasn't quite prepared for the extra weight that this couple of inches of depth adds. It is a good thing that they added a "helper handle" opposite the regular handle, or I wouldn't be able to lift it while it is filled. I have also baked bread in this pan and it turned out beautifully. My Dutch oven lid fits this pan, but if I had known that the 3 qt. chicken fryer was the same size as this pan and included the lid, I would have purchase that item since there was only a few dollars difference in the price.

Want Lodge Logic L8DSK3 Pre-Seasoned Deep Skillet, 10.25-inch Discount?

I bought this pan about a year ago, and I use it every single day. It's a great for pan roasted potatoes, and sauteed vegetables and greens. Stir-fried vegetables are easy to make with this pan. So are fried rice dishes. I also use it to make large omelettes. The lid that comes with the 5 quart dutch oven fits this pan.

It's easy to clean. I've used cast iron pans for over twenty five years. I do scrub it with a little soap once in a while to remove the rancid fat odor. However, I wipe it dry, oil it, and heat it on the stove on low heat for 5 minutes or so after that. With a little maintenance, these pans will last forever and are a must in every kitchen. It's so easy to eliminate nonstick pans if you use cast iron ones.

Paderno World Cuisine 7-7/8-Inch Stainless Steel Ceramic Coated Frying Pan

Paderno World Cuisine 7-7/8-Inch Stainless Steel Ceramic Coated Frying PanI was searching all over for the right non-stick pan for my mother. She wanted one that was PFOA-free so that no toxic fumes would be released at any time when cooking nor toxic mojo getting into her food. The other challenge was getting one that was small enough for my mom to lift and use with one hand. She's slightly built and has arthritis and she didn't want Teflon or any similar PFOA-containing pan after all that we have read and learned about the damage those pans can do. There was even a report on the local news in the past month about a family whose two 30+ year old McCaw parrots died when they cleaned their oven because the oven had the PFOA coating inside. There's a reason why they used to use canaries in coal mines canaries die BEFORE you do. That being said, my mother has reported that the pan is the perfect size. She's able to fry an egg, make a tiny omelet, or cook any small portion in there and it is indeed very non-stick and very easy to clean. Suffice to say, it's a hit.

Received as scheduled and I am very satisfied with the pan.Have tried fried eggs, omelettes, etc., and the pan performs as advertised.I like the ceramic coating it beats the usual Teflon or similar material. The fried eggs I am referring to above slid off and on as if there was some cooking oil added to the pan which was not.Very satisfied with it.

Calphalon Everyday Nonstick Rectangular Grill/Griddle Combo

Calphalon Everyday Nonstick Rectangular Grill/Griddle ComboI use this grill/griddle in my business. It is great.I have had several of these and my employees did not read the care instructions...this time I read them and it is performing SO WELL.

Only wish there was an easy way to cook eggs without them running into the drop edge along the perimeter of Pan. But other than that, this is my new favorite end-all pan. Its great in terms of quality, and I'm very picky..It is perfect if you own gas, as it will cover both burners, and thus allow you dual temperature zones. Its great for having one heat zone for one item and another for other items to cook at varying temperature ranges.

ProsGreat, well made, sturdy, easy to clean

ConsI would not throw in Dishwasher, the backing is the type of backing from this company that has that grayish film that comes off if you throw it in the dishwasher time after time..

T-fal A821SA94 Initiatives Nonstick Inside and Out Dishwasher Safe 10-Piece Cookware Set, Black

T-fal A821SA94 Initiatives Nonstick Inside and Out Dishwasher Safe 10-Piece Cookware Set, BlackT-Fal's nonstick cookware is the best for the price. You can pay a lot more for nonstick pans:they'll be heavy and the nonstick feature is the same.If you're thinking that buying more expensive nonstick pans will make the nonstick finish last longer, you'd be wrong. That's what I thought.I have several expensive nonstick pans and the nonstick will peel off of those just as quickly as any other nonstick pan. What really makes the difference with nonstick is HOW YOU TREAT IT.Read the Do's And Don'ts when you get your pans.Never heat above medium. It'll take longer to bring water to a boil or to stir-fry, but it WILL get hot enough.Never wash your nonstick in the dishwasher and wait until it cools to hand wash.Always use plastic or wood utensils:never use anything that will scratch the surface.Don't use spray release cooking agents as you don't need them and they can cause a film to develop on the surface.Never let your pots boil dry use a timer to remind you.

Thinking of stainless steel?Forget it.It's a headache to cook and clean with as everything sticks to it's surface unless you want to add a lot of fat to your cooking.Leave that for the professional cooks and save yourself the headaches.

I can still remember my Grandmother showing me a T-Fal pan that she bought and saying it was the best pan she ever owned.I just bought this set for my son who is moving into his own home and that's the confidence that I have in it.This is the quality and price point you're looking for.

P.S.When I first opened the set, I thought there was something wrong with it:there are little holes in the lids with no cover or vent. That's how it's supposed to be!Those tiny holes let a little steam out so that your pots won't boil over as easily. But, if you turn it up high enough and ignore it, it can still boil over.If it does, at least the outsides of these pans are constructed to withstand food stains. You'll love this set.If you treat it right, it'll last many years.

P.P.S.For a large family, I would buy some additional pieces:a large frying pan with high sides and a lid for large meals, frying chicken and stir-frying and a 3.5 qt saucepan for making large amts of rice, popcorn, chili, etc.I also bought a splatter cover for the large frying pan in the set because it is a regular fry pan with low sides and you'll get some splatter on your stove if you don't use a cover.

P.P.P.S. IMHO, the vegetable steamer that is included with this set is worthless. There's nothing wrong with it, but I haven't cooked veggies this way since 1980 and I wouldn't put the steel feet in my nonstick cookware.I would just use a microwavable bowl and the microwave to steam vegetables.

I got these as part of our wedding registry here on Amazon and with about 2 months of use I am very happy with this set.More so than any other set of pots/pans that I own.

Here are some pro's:

1 The non-stick is truly non-stick and so easy to use.The fact that the outside is non-stick also makes cleaning up easy.

2 The handle really does stay cool, even near the edge on gas burners

3 The size of all 9 pieces are very convenient

4 Easy to wash due to non-stick and dishwasher safe

5 Thermospots assists in cooking evenly

6 Oven safe

Great price and value.

We have purchased several t-fal products over the years, including the more expensive professional grade products. In August we purchased a set of frying pans, which worked fine for about 3 months and then the coating started to bubble up and peel off. When I called consumer services, the representative informed me that I would have to pay to ship the defective frying pans back to them at my own expense.T-fal's website even suggests that I spend extra to insure the package. The representative informed me that t-fal would not pay for shipping because they would not know if the product was defective until they received it.Of course, no offer was made to reimburse me once they received the defective product and to make matters worse, I was told that had I returned the product within 30 days they would have provided a shipping label.I guess if it is within 30 days they don't care if it is defective or not.As these particular frying pans only cost us $25 dollars, spending close to $15 to return them did not make any sense. When I asked to speak to a manager, I was told that no one was available.Needless to say, I threw the pans out and will not be purchasing any t-fal products in the future.I have lost all confidence in the product and respect for the company.

Fagor Countertop Induction Cooking Set, 2-Piece

Fagor Countertop Induction Cooking Set, 2-PieceI attended a cooking class taught by the head chef at the Capital Hotel in Little Rock, AR and he used this device several time during the eveing. I bought one for myself and love it.I can just sit it on the count top and cook away without worrying about flames or heated coils.Just DO NOT USE IT ON A METAL SURFACE! think about it & you will know why!I am a house mother in a fraternity house and have a tiny apartment with no stove this is perfect.I would recommend it for anywhere, ex: camper. As long as you have electricity, you can have a stove right on the picnic table if you like.No flames to catch it on fire.Light weight, portable and works as well or better than gas.If you have caphelon sorry cannot use it on this device. But, any pan that a magnet will stick to will cook well.Try not to scratch it up as it is a glass surface device. Also you can use a razor blade scraper to clean up any big spills but they don't cook on the surface like other stoves and clean up is easier anyway. You can spread a cloth beneath it and throw it in the wash no counter to wipe.Yeah!I will even let my granddaughter cook on this device with supervision, of course.

I like the design of this cooktop, the simplicity of the controls, size, operation, power cord, noise level, all very good. And the frypan was well built and attractive for a non-stick item.

I would like to give it a 5 star rating, but can't because the unit I received was defective, and the replacement unit was also defective (but in a different way).I would like to think I just got a couple of bad units, as with proper operation, it would be a great unit.

I was excited to receive the unit, I had been reading about induction cook tops for quite some time.I already had two pans, a small carbon steel wok, and a stainless steel (with magnetic heat disk bottom) omlete pan.Plus this unit came with a really great non-stick frypan with a bottom magnetic heat disk bonded to the bottom. So I knew I had the right cookware to use. I also had an electric meter to test the wattage draw at various settings so I could evaluate the performance with each setting.

Intial set-up was simple, plug it in, place a pan with a couple of cups of water on the unit, and hit the on button. It defaulted to the #5 setting, (specified as 800w) and with-in a couple minutes water was boiling. All pans performed in a similar manner, but I did note that the wattage varied by the pan, from 600w to 700w.I continued testing the lower settings, the wattage dropped some, heating seemed consistant, the lower two settings seemed to jump from .5w to 200 to 500 and back again, as expected from what the manual said. All was fine and good, I was pretty happy with the unit.

Then I tried the higher settings, with each of the pans.Other than a slight variation in wattage, results were the same.#6 jumped the wattage up about 100, #7 another 50w to 850w, but #8, 9, & 10 would surge from 600w to 1100w, water would boil ferociously, then not, then back again. If I tried adding more water (like one quart) it took forever to get it to boil, even on the highest setting.I was so dissapointed.

I reluctantly asked Amazon for a replacement, they were great, sent me out a new one in two days, I got a pre-printed return label, a great experience.

Then to test the new unit.I was so hopeful, but where the first unit seemed to work properly on settings #6 and lower, the replacement unit seemed to surge on all the power settings, and would never rise above 900w, even on the highest settings.

It was so dissappointing.Since the unit is rated at 1600w, I think I just got two bad units. The first one worked so well in the lower settings, where one would do most of their cooking, but I need the ability to boil as well.So much promise, I really liked the unit, but the performance was not there for me.

I returned both units, and purchased an 1800w Duxtop unit.I will review it after another week of use, so far so good, I don't like the design as well, the lower settings are a bit hotter than I wanted, but lots and lots of heat at the higher settings.

I ordered this burner to use in our basement. We have a small kitchen area there with a microwave, but no means of actually cooking anything.I wanted this to mainly make some eggs to go along with toast for breakfast.Wow the eggs are ready by the time the toast is done and I start them both together.I only use the setting of 3, not sure how hot it gets on 5!I really like this product does exactly what it says it would do.

Matfer Bourgeat Black Steel Frying Pan, 9-1/2" dia.

Matfer Bourgeat Black Steel Frying Pan, 9-1/2' dia.Hard to season these pans and even harder to keep it seasoned. I tried all recommended methods. You have to spend hours, and numerous times to really achieve a black surface. Then it is good, but for couple of months. Then black patina starts to peel away. I assume heat control is important, but different receipes require different heat intensity. I definetely prefer cast iron over these. One more negative, food and oil gets stuck at handle point-not very higene.

Now positivesgood heat retention, it feels sturdy in hand.

I always wanted to try a carbon steel pan and chose this one. Initially I was disappointed due to its small size...with this 9.5" size for example, there may not be enough flat bottom to sear an average ribeye. I ended up ignoring it for 5 years and only recently rediscovered it since I started making Nicoise salads with seared tuna lately.

I couldn't go hot enough in my nonstick pan for a good sear on the tuna and didn't feel like dealing with cast iron for a single piece of fish. I remembered this pan and tried it...perfect. This size pan size is good for a single1.25" tuna steak. I get the pan really really hot and get a great sear everytime. 2 minutes per side is usually perfect for nice rare/med red center.

This pan is heavy and solid. It's also easy to clean due to the welded handle, trust me, YOU WANT THE WELDED HANDLE. You don't want to be cleaning around 3 rivets. I never bothered trying to season this pan like the other reviewer. I simply use a scotch pad on it afterwards and wash it with soapy water. I've also washed it in the dishwasher with no problems either...I just being sure to make sure it completely dry before puting it away.

I plan to buy the next size up for cooking larger cuts of meat. All in all though, this is a very nice pan for a quick sear on a smaller piece of meat.

Cuisinart 55-10BK Advantage Nonstick 10-Piece Cookware Set, Black

Cuisinart 55-10BK Advantage Nonstick 10-Piece Cookware Set, Black-Paint peels off after first exposure to oil

-Ineffective and unprofessional customer "care"

-Unusable "warranty"

We bought this set in January with intentions for sporadic use. It was a very nice-looking set, which is essentialour kitchen is small so we have to hang most of the pans in view. We used the set without incident for a short while, taking care not to use metal spoons or anything that would scrape the nonstick finish. The appearance of the bottom changed to some degree with dishwasher use, but that may be expected. After owning for about 5 months, we dared to use the frypans for actual frying, with oil. We left the pans to cool. When we tried to clean the pans, we saw some oil had accumulated on the outside of the pans. Upon scrubbing, the outer paint actually began stripping off of the pans!

We checked online, since the entire set had been shipped with no paperwork. At the Cuisinart site, we found "customer care" information, so we called about the warranty. The website indicates that the warranty is good whether you register or not.

In short, Cuisanart's "customer care" seems pretty pointless. First, upon explaining that the damage was on 3 of the pieces, they could not understand why a customer would want to return the entire set (because if the product is that easy to damage why would you want to keep the remainder?)plus, if you find problems with their products, you have to do the following:

-Ship the products at your OWN expense for them to look at

-Send money to pay THEM to inspect your faulty product$7 PER piece

-then, if THEY decide their product did not meet your expectation, they will decide what happens next. They did not indicate whether they ship you more of the product you no longer want, or if they offer you a refund that may or may be less than the money you spent to get the product inspected.

With all of this, it seems that we'd pay 1/3 to 1/2 of the price we got the whole set for, with no guarantee of any solution to the problem. We are currently following up with written correspondence to Cuisinart to see if they can offer any higher level of customer service. Further details TBA.

I found this set to be the best buy for getting the basics. The non-stick pans are great for sautéing and eggs come out unbelievable. There is a good variety in this set. The handles have a sturdy construction and are always cool to the touch. Having glass lids is also helpful to watch food without loosing heat while cooking. I cook a lot and buy many different types of cookware depending on what I'm making, so this set is a good base to start with and build on.

I chose this gift for my companies 10 year service award, I needed a new set of pans so thought it would be perfect!Received the cookware and used it for almost 3 months.I noticed that one of the pans had the teflon bubbling up on the pan. After washing it now there are patches of the non-stick coating gone! So, I thought I would just contact them, I filled out the registration card so it would be under warranty.First it took me 2 e-mails to even get a response from them. They they told me to ship it back to them, me paying the shipping of course and to enclose $7 for them to return the pan to me after they "inspected" it.They didn't say if they would send a new pan if I was getting the old pan, nothing.I'm sorry but me being the customer why am I to pay for their poor product to be returned to them and then pay to maybe have their poor product shipped back to me.No, I don't think so.I will NEVER buy ANYTHING from them again!!

Tibos Chromed Tibos Electric Crepe Maker

Tibos Chromed Tibos Electric Crepe MakerWe have used this of course to make crepes (takes some getting used to using the wooden toolsbut keep at it.Our first few crepes looked more like Swiss cheese, we've gotten way better at it now!)We also use it to make French toast, pancakes and gas house eggs.Next up we are going to try making tortillas. The recipe book that comes with it has lots of great ideas. We like it a lot because it is easy to use and doesn't take a lot of oil which makes things a lot healthier.

My family love crepes for sunday breakfast. After years of swirling pans I decided to go for a proper crepe maker. I originally purchased this item on amazon, but then cancelled after I found it for ~$50 cheaper at another online retailer.

PROS

* Cooks crepes very evenly

* Heats up quickly

* Adjustable temperature control is great

* cleanup is a breeze (Except for the bits that leak over the side and stick to the plastic base)

CONS:

* tools are not very good. OK to get you started but not good enough for proper use

Ladle is 2 oz, I find that it takes more like 3oz for a proper sized crepe (with my style batter), so I use another ladle

Spreader rotating plastic tool is so so. It doesn't hold enough batter to make an even crepe (for me)

Dough rake is not good, it is uneven (bowed) so it spreads the outside perimeter too thin. (I have ordered different ones on Amazon)

My first time doing it I kept the thermo at 5, per the recommendation in the book, but this is way too hot for me. It doesn't give enough time to spread the batter evenly (for a beginner spreader) and the crepe over cooks.

I now use 2 which is perfect. The cook time is much less with this machine that my previous pan method, so make sure you adjust accordingly. The batter should just start drying on the top when it's time to flip, that takes about 20-30 seconds, then only cook for about 10 seconds on the other size, produces the texture my kids love.

**** Update May 2011

After many weekends of use this crepe maker is still going strong. I ditched the provided tools and bought a round dowel like spreader on amazon. I now make (almost) perfect crepes every time. It's also a party piece, I get our guests to try and make the "perfect" crepe. It is a lot of fun , especially now I'm so good at it. It takes a light touch. Anyway crepes are still delicious and crepe sunday is still a highlight in our household. Very happy I purchased this!

This crepe pan will produce crepes closest to size and texture of traditional crepes. After using a non-stick fry pan for years, this is a real treat to use! As mentioned in other reviews, the temperature setting recommended in the recipe book is a bit too high I cooked on 1 it seemed to give me a little more time to spread the batter. I had a larger rake already, so I cannot comment on the included one.

As a note, there is no resting time mentioned for sweet and savory batters in the recipe book; I would recommend letting the batter rest for about an hour (or as long as overnight); it will help hydrate the starch and settle any bubbles. This is such a joy to have!!!! Just plan on eating LOTS of crepes if you buy this:)

We received the Griddle about three months ago.Our old one a Calphalon Contemporary Nonstick 11-in. Griddle started shedding its non-stick surface. This was the second one we had and did not want to deal cooking on a peeling surface any longer. We saw the Lindy Griddle which was the same size and shape. It works fine, disperses the heat evenly and does a good job of cooking at low heat.

We are not happy with the fact that the pancakes (mostly using blueberries) stick to the surface even after using Pam or Mazola sprays. The other issue is the handle comes loose.I screw it back in, but after a few weeks it is loose again. So I can only say it is OK.

The griddle sits flat on glass top. Built very well/sturdy. It heats as even as any griddle I have used in the past(a bit hotter towards center). Cooking on low to medium heat helps to keep food from sticking.

Gordon Ramsay by Royal Doulton Stainless Frying Pan

Gordon Ramsay by Royal Doulton Stainless-Steel 10-Inch Fry PanAs a professional chef, I was looking to update my cookware. I have had a set of Calphalon hard anodized that have been great, but nonetheless I wanted to upgrade. I was debating between All-Clad, Demeyere, and Royal Doulton. I have a new 12 inch All-Clad Stainless pan, so I bought one of the Royal Doulton 12" stainless to put it up against it.

First the overall impressions. The AC (All-Clad) was a fair amount lighter than the RD (Royal Doulton) pan. Both are tri-ply throughout with aluminum between the steel. From a design standpoint, I prefer the angled sides of the RD as opposed to the sloped sides seen in most other pans. The RD pans also were much shinier than the AC pan was. As far as size, the AC pan was a tad roomier. I assume this is due to RD's original measurements being in metric form. The handle of the RD pan was preferable to the AC's. From what I've heard, this is a fairly common complaint with All-Clad, albeit the only consistent one I've heard.

Now for performance. Both pans placed under a medium flame heated to searing heat within about 1 to 1 1/2 minutes. The RD was a tad hotter, but not enough at that point to make a difference. Where there was a difference was in carmelization and fond development. The RD gave a much nicer color to the chicken than the AC, and the fond output was a bit higher with better color. After deglazing, the AC did clean up slightly better than the RD did with soap and water. After cleaning again with Barkeepers Friend, both pans had their orriginal luster, save for some slight marking on the bottom of the RD pan from the flames.

Overall I found the RD to be of just as good quality as the AC, and for a bit less in price. The RD pans are made in China whereas the AC pans are made in the USA. So depending on where you stand with that in mind will decide for you.

Loved the quality of the finish, the weight of the cookware and the easy cleanup. It's great for roasting seeds and nuts and cooking everything I throw at it. Sadly, I have an electric stove and this pan does not sit level on the level burner without tipping toward the handle. ugggg..It's so frustrating. I have to prop something under the pan while I'm heating.

Buy Gordon Ramsay by Royal Doulton Stainless Frying Pan Now

This is very good pan for daily use. The most I liked about this is that it heats up very fast, and great for searing the steak, chickens and fish. With stainless steel handle and body, you can put in the oven without worrying about damaging it.

As with any stainless steel, clean up is usually a breeze. However, sometimes it leaves white marker on the bottom. But with few rub of Bar Keepers Friend® Cleanser & Polish: 12 OZ cleaner, it is as good as new. Good clean up also make food difficult to stick. The best way to make it non stick is to heat up the pan well first, and spray a little oil with Misto M100S Gourmet Brushed Aluminum Olive Oil Sprayer or Pam, and then start cooking.

I use this daily, not only for searing the food, but also for stir fry, making pancake, scrabbled eggs, and everything else. It's un-destructible with its solid build.

The only thing I don't like about it is it's lip. When you pour things out, the juice tend to drip to the side. Wiping with paper towel will remedy it.

Overall, I like this a lot. It's a good value that last forever. I will never go back to Teflon non-stick pan again.

Paula Deen 5 Quart Cast Iron Covered Oval Casserole

Paula Deen 5 Quart Cast Iron Covered Oval CasseroleI am a recent convert to cast iron cookware.I thought the stuff my mother used was old fassioned.Boy, was I wrong!!!Cast iron is great!Even heat distribution, non-stick (follow the instructions), and it doesn't slide around on the burner because it is heavy.I had to learn a bit about curing and cleaning but now that I have it down this is better than any stainless steel or non-stick cookware.WARNING the handles get hot, the lids get hot and don't drop it on your toes. You will notice on the high end cookware that they always advertise how thick the pot bottoms are or how the multiple layers of metal distribute heat evenly well cast iron does this naturally.Great pot CAST IRON RULES (don't wait 50 years to find out)

This Paula Deen cast iron (dutch oven) is the best I have ever used. What makes this pot unique is the shape. For me, I can handle the weight of the iron pot in this shape with my hands much easier than with a large round pot when handwashing and drying. Also this size fits in the oven better, not taking up all the room where I can add another small baking dish and cook more than one item together. The style of this pot is so attractive, I leave it on the top of the stove while not in use.You can do everything all in this pot; brown, saute and bake for one receipe such as beef stew, roast beef, roast pork or lamb and of course chicken. This pot is so attractive, I even take it to the dinning table and serve right out of it.Paula Deen also makes this pot covered in a enamel coating in lots of beautiful colors.I like the natural look of the iron.Great pot for the money.

I've used this pot several times now for searing meat, braising, and making stews. It's so sturdy and I love the way it looks.I enjoy having pretty things to cook my food in, but they must also get the job done and be easy to clean. This one fits the bill in all these areas.I'm very happy with my purchase. After making my beef stew tonight, it looked like I had a "baked-on, caked-on mess".But after letting the pot and lid soak for literally a couple of minutes, the food came right off.Now that's my kind of cleaning.

The pot is very heavy, but all cast iron is heavy. We can all use the extra exercise!!

I really like the way things turn out when I cook them in this. I have made lambshanks, beef roasts, and cooked a whole chicken in it. I like that I can braise the meat in it, add other things, and put it in the oven so it is just cooking with one pot.

Food did taste a little odd the first couple of times I used it but that went away by the third or fourth use.

It will want to develop rust so I have found I need to season it after every couple of uses. I wipe crisco shortening over the entire inside of the lid and the inside of the pot. Then I put the lid on and put it in the oven at about 200 degrees for half an hour or so. After I use it, I wash it out and dry it thoroughly immediately. This is not something I would leave dirty for more than a few hours because it is iron and I think you would be asking for rust to develop. I don't think I would even leave it soaking for any amount of time. After we eat, I wash it and dry it right away. I have found that I need to cure it again after every two or three uses to stop rust from developing.

It is really heavy for me to lift when food is in it.

Food tends not to burn onto this pot when cooking so it is easy to cook with and easy to clean. I left the roasts in the oven for about 4 hours to get them really tender with some liquid and no spots burned on the food anywhere. I have never had food burn to the bottom. You can't get that with a pan made of anything else.

I definitely would recommend this for anyone who want a nice fryer in the kitchen. I make fries with it and use 1/3 of the oil as opposed to deep fryer.
