Chantal Copper Fusion 8-Inch Fry Pan, Onyx

Chantal Copper Fusion 8-Inch Fry Pan, OnyxI received this pan for Christmas 2011. I have the larger pan, and loved it, and was so excited to receive another one. I love the way the copper fusion cooks, and the enamel cleans beautifully, with minimal effort. I've used it almost every day for 10 months, and thoroughly enjoye cooking with it.

That being said.

This little pan has got to be one of the worst examples of Chantal cookware I have ever had the misfortune to use. Not only did the enamel start scratching on the interior, only using plastic utensils, and non abrasive cleaners, but the metal edge has started to loosen!

This morning was the final straw. I took it out of the dishwasher, and a large section of the outer enamel is blown off. I have never given it any temperature shocks, and always leave it to cool on a hot pad before washing.

I immediately called Chantal, only to be told it was of course my fault that their expensive cookware is so shoddy. I have had my large pan for four years now, and have never had an ounce of trouble with itbut I will never buy another Chantal product.

We got the whole line of these pans as we had a difficult time finding a sturdy product to work with our induction cooktop.EVERYTHING sticks to them. I found myself scraping spaghetti out of one a few nights ago. They are solidly made, don't have those annoying rivets, and they're beautiful. But, for all that, they are a pain to cook in and clean.

Curtis Stone Steelworks Non-Stick Fry Pan, 12-Inch

Curtis Stone Steelworks Non-Stick Fry Pan, 12-InchAfter about 20 years, our old (when they still made high quality) copper bottom, Revere non-stick skillet was worm out. With some sadness we searched for a replacement. We did a lot of research and settled on this one.Boy am I glad we did!!It heats even more evenly than the old one!And so far we have cooked nearly every dish with no oil at all.Clean up is a snap!We have had this for about a month. If you are looking for a great non stick skillet, I think you will be very pleased.

We like to have people over for dinner and this pan fit the bill for cooking. Clean up was easy since it is non stick. I would recommend this pan.

Calphalon Unison Nonstick 13-Inch Flatbottom Wok with Lid

Calphalon Unison Nonstick 13-Inch Flatbottom Wok with LidI've owned several woks through the years with various coatings, not coated(cast iron) and this is the most durable trouble free wok I've owned. I've used it for high temp stir fry, searing, sauces and recipes that require finishing up in the oven. I followed the directions on the first seasoning and care instructions and have not had any finish degradation at all. I'm very happy with this pan as I head into the 2nd year of ownership.

I had a cheap wok several years ago everything stuck and it was miserable to cook with.So I was litlle skeptical that this wok would be any different --I was pleasantly surprised.I have used it a number of time with fabulous results. The non-stick surface is great!

I highly recommend being careful about the oil you use --I typically cook with EVO, but for high temp cooking, use something like peanut oil.Stirfrys turn out resturant quality!I am particularly pleased with the see-through lid perfect for steaming or watching quick-cookingitems.Amazon offers one of the best prices that I've seen for Caphalon, too. Great product.

This wok is absolutely fantastic.I completed a cooking class in Thailand and while sitting by the pool with Ipad I ordered this wok so it would be waiting for me when I arrived back home to USA.This WOK is genius. It has taken my cooking up a few notches.Heating is even.Non-stick is fantastic as always. Before buying this WOK I paused at the comments here about scratching non-stick.Turns out of course to be a non issue if you are used to non-stick (e.g. use Silicon spatulas and use a sponge to clean).Six months later surface of WOK is absolutely pristine.I will add one comment on this topic the glass lid if you are not careful CAN contact the surface of WOK and leave a scratch. However I have yet to find a use for the glass lid on a WOK.Whatever.This WOK has changed my cooking life. Not only are my Thai dishes made to perfection but I use the WOK for eggs, hamburgers, bacon all turn out great.

It is non-stick alright. However, the interior coating is easily scratched but using nylon spatula. I sent mine in for a replacement. The new one I received has exactly the same problem. It leads me to believe that the whole product line has the same quality. I would recommend for a $17 14" Carbon Steel Wok from Walmart. It is non-stick when seasoned correctly. I've been using one for three months now and it is very nice. I owned at least two sets of Calphalon cookware. Both are their high end product lines. The quality is going downhill and the price remains high.

Swiss Diamond Nonstick 11" Cast Aluminum Square Sauté Pan with Lid

Swiss Diamond Nonstick 11' Cast Aluminum Square Sauté Pan with LidWe have had 2 of these pans. With the first, the coating started to bubble and lift after about 2-3 years. We never used metal utensils to clean or work with this pan and always used it on low to medium heat on an electric stove.Swiss Diamond was good and replaced it.The coating on the second one started bubbling and chipping off after the same 2 to 3 year period. So at this point we're ready to try another manufacturer. It's difficult to find pans like this with lids that vent. The Swiss Diamond one does have that but the ventilation is fairly limited. To the point of you wonder whether the vent is open or closed.

The Swiss Diamond cookware is the best I have ever owned. I know they are pricey but they really are non stick. I purchased a Scan Pan Fry pan the same time I purchased a Swiss Diamond. I have used both for a year and the Swiss Diamond looks like new; the ScanPan, not so much. You may be put off by hand washing them after use..but it is a dream to clean up even if something has burned in the pan. You can use metal utensils..I use the occasional fork or tongs in the pan and it does not show. I have been adding to my collection every birthday, anniversary, and Christmas. The pans are heavy and the covers have a little shuttle wheel to let steam out or keep in. Try one in a size that you use a lot; I know you will fall in love with it!

Love the new Swiss Diamond square saute pan.Was looking for a square large frying pan for my husband for Christmas and this fit the requirement perfectly.Very expensive but think it will be worth it in the long run.Nothing sticks to it and it is very easy to clean. So far it appears to cook evenly.Hope to purchase more in the future. However, has not improved MY cooking skills as my food still isn't great!!!

Rachael Ray Porcelain Enamel II Nonstick Cookware Set, 10-Piece

Rachael Ray Porcelain Enamel II Nonstick 10-Piece Cookware Set, Orange Gradient ()They cook evenly. Pretty sturdily made with with rivets and they are lightweight without being flimsy. Easy to clean. Bottom of pans did not distort when heated. The padded handles for the lids and the pots are a sort of rubber or silicone which make for easy gripping and are cool to the touch (especially for the lids unlike metal handles). The colors are fun. The color is a an orange gradient that mutes the brightness of the orange color.

Why not a five star rating? I would like to see the layer of non-stick material to be thicker for more durability, but note that the pots and pans do come with a lifetime guarantee.

Good value for the money.

Also, note that these pots are not recommended for glass top stoves (per manual) as the ceramic bottom of the cookware could melt to the glass top.

()An attractive cookware set that covers the basics. The well-made pans offer a good cooking foundation, but are a little too lightweight.

I've been cooking elaborately for years and have used a wide variety of kitchen gear.Like most seasoned cooks, I have my favorite pans and pan-types, and habits in how I use them.I was pleased to see several of my "usual" sizes included in this set, including the 3qt saute pan, the 6qt dutch-oven style stockpot, and the 10" skillet. The 2qt saucepan is adequate, though I usually prefer a 2.5qt.The sides of the saute pan are high enough to stir a thick pasta sauce, the stockpot has a wide enough base to allow meat to brown.

The one omission is a heavy-bottomed 12" skillet, something I use regularly for frying and searing.

Less useful is the 1qt saucepan-there's not much I'd make in a 1qt that wouldn't be fine in the 2qt, and the 8.5" skillet is too small to be useful-it's fine if you want to fry an egg, or saute garlic (or a single shallot) separately, but I prefer to do that in the larger pan with the rest of the ingredients, the better to meld the flavors (and to have fewer dishes to wash). Most things that you would sear, toast, or saute will benefit from being in contact with the pan's cooking surface, making a small surface area less useful. But four (out of 6) useful pans is a much better ratio than most sets.

Caveats:Unlike my Calphalon pans, the handles on these are only rated oven-safe to 350F (rather than a more useful 450-500F ceiling). After 3 months use on a glass-top electric range, the 10" skillet (the piece I've been using most) has dark mars on the bottom (bad if you hang/display your pans).

The largest caveat is that these pans are entry-level thin. They do heat up quickly, but the thinness makes them bad for cooking dishes where the pan temperature needs to stay low-but-even, or where you're going to be adding cold items to the hot pan (eg, searing-these are far too thin to retain heat when you plop down a New York Strip).

For the beginner cook who doesn't have their own preferences or existing collection, this is a nice set to get them started, and it look nice too-a good choice for a gift. This 10-piece set is a bit expensive (versus other entry-level sets) and has a couple of "filler" pieces, but is a well-rounded package.Recommended with caveats.

UPDATE NOV 2012: These pans continue to hold up surprisingly well after a year of solid usage, and I've grown increasingly fond of them, so increasing my rating from 4 stars to 5 stars. The outer surfaces have gotten discolored/stained from such regular usage but the interiors remain flawless, and I find I reach for these pans more often than some of my heavier old-school pans.

I have had this set for almost a year.We use them every day. They look beautiful hanging in my kitchen and they just make cooking a little more fun. They have held up perfectly.I have a glass top stove so I was a little concerned when I read in the manual that they arent ideal for that type of stove, but I have never had an issue.

They are light in weight, but not in durability. They clean up easily and beautifully.I have used an SOS pad on the outside and it doesnt scratch. I have also found them in the dishwasher when my children have to clean the kitchen and they have remained scratch free. They actually look almost as good as the day I bought them!I am now ordering sets for my friends for Christmas!

I used some points from my credit card company to purchase this cookware set but wasn't completely sold on the orange color. A year later I am so glad that I didn't let the color keep me from getting this set. The one downside is that they are not dishwasher safe. On the other hand the nonstick works so well that it is effortless to wash these by hand. I have made sure to use utensils that won't scrach the coating, but these work great for everyday use. In the very distant future if I have to replace this set, I will definately buy again.

I received this set in green for Christmas this past year from my husband. I have some other RR products and I really liked them so he thought he was picking a good gift for me, however he didn't know they would leak! The pans leak where they are riveted together at the handle. Every time I make something in them it leaks out. It also happens when I wash them. (I know you can put them in the dishwasher, but I never put pots and pans in the dishwasher!)I was really disappointed in the quality of the item. I would have returned them, but before I used them I through the box and all the invoices away. I guess I learned to keep all receipts!

Michelle B. by Fagor Cast Iron Lite Chicken Fryer with Lid, 4.5 quart

Fagor Michelle B. 4-1/2-Quart Cast Iron Lite Chicken Fryer with Glass Lid, BlueI purchased this elsewhere at a discount. I've only had the fryer for a few days and I'm already disappointed with the pan. I purchased this to replace a big deep Teflon coated pan I'd been using pretty much every day for the last 10yrs. I picked this one since I wanted to try an alternate to Teflon. After the first use I noticed that the "multi-coated enameled exterior" on the bottom of the pan had worn off in spots. By the 5th use about 10% of the pan's bottom is showing metal. I have a smooth cook-top and haven't abused the pan. The company's claim that the finish is designed to "ensure strength and durability" is a crock. The pan is also very heavy despite the 50% lighter claim. The handles and grips are very thin and compound the weight problem when you pick it up. I also don't like that the pan isn't dishwasher safe but that is probably the only reason it hasn't started rusting yet. I recommend you look elsewhere for a Teflon alternate pan and stay away from the Fagor brand.

We've switched over to cast iron and enameled cast iron after learning about some of the potential health problems associated with ingesting the popular non-stick materials as they wear, so this is the latest in several similar purchases. So far, very pleased it is lighter than a traditional pan of this size, and is well-constructed.The handle materials are not the same quality as more expensive pans, but for the price we're very pleased since they function well. The lid has a small vent hole, a nice touch. As for non-stickthis pan is no different from all others of this type we've used... when stuff sticks, we put some dishwasher machine detergent (not dish handwashing soap) in, along with some hot water, and after it soaks for 15 minutes or so, it cleans right up.Burnt on things need to soak longer. It does stain over time, but they all do.Why not 5-stars?Its not perfect and we've not used it long enough to really rate longevity.

Zojirushi EP-PBC10 Gourmet d'Expert Electric Skillet

Zojirushi EP-PBC10 Gourmet d'Expert Electric SkilletThe main selling point of this skillet for me was the fact that it doesn't use a coil that's built into the base of the cooking surface. Instead, it uses a removable non stick bowl that rests on a circular surface exactly the same size as the base of the bowl. This results in more even heating of the surface and less wear and tear on the non stick surface.

If you've used traditional electric skillets, you've probably noticed that the non stick coating tends to peel/bubble around the area where the heating element/coil is. I'm happy to report no bubbling or flaking during the time I have been using this since May of 2011. There are some light surface scuffs presumably from stirring items and washing the bowl (which is super easy to clean) but nothing compromising the coating itself. You should have no problems with this along as you stick to using silicone or wood cooking tools.

Again, because of the way that this skillet operates, it's very easy and predictable to cook with. It does tend to "hold" the heat for a longer period of time than some other skillet designs. As one other reviewer mentioned, the "keep warm" setting is actually better for simmering than the actual simmer setting on the slider.

Overall, I'm really happy with this skillet, but I'm taking off one star because of the fact that the power cable has a strong chemical/rubber smell that refuses to go away.

Heats up quickly. I use it for pancakes, soups, simmering cube steaks. It cooks them in less time than a regular pot or pan. Cleanup is quick and easy. The only thing to watch for is that the simmer setting is a little hot. I use the warm setting for simmering.

I'm a single student and use this for everything; eggs, meat, soup, potstickers, you name it. Even boiling water! There is actually a sort of spout, so when you pour water out, it doesn't leak everywhere down the sides. It's a very well-built product. Using it is a joy. The clear lid is very useful. The nonstick surface is wonderfully durable and effective. Cleaning it is extremely easy. The only thing I don't like is that the cooking surface is slightly convex, so when I cook fried eggs, for example, they flow to the side and become a long, awkward shape. I also have to use a sprayer to spray olive oil on it so it doesn't doesn't just flow to the side. But other than that, it's a great product. I'm sure the convex cooking surface was designed for grilling stuff in mind, so it might actually be a pro, but I still wish it was just completely flat.

I bought this item for an elderly parent who forgets to turn things off. The ad says the skillet features an auto shut off, but I saw nothing about that in the manual when the skillet arrived. I just called Zojirushi's Customer Service and was told there is no auto shut off feature. They checked the Amazon.com ad had no explanation about why an auto shut-off feature was mentioned.

This is the most versatile cooking appliance I have ever owned. The ceramic nonstick surfaceallows the use of high heat both for pan frying a steak or high temperature roasting.. It is a great slow cooker and convenient for roasting. When my k-cup coffee maker broke, I used it as a tea kettle to boil water and pour out the pour spout into my coffee cup. In the morning you can cook your bacon, eggs, pancakes and even bake biscuits. I am familiar with Zoji quality from my Rice Cooker, Bread Maker and travel mug. These appliances are designed and made in Japan and it shows.

This jewel truly makes one-pot meals a reality. I made chili the other nightbrowned the meat, cooked the vegetables, drained the grease, added the tomatoes and bean, brought it to a boil and reduced to simmer and cook for two hours. Cleanup was a breeze thanks to the nonstick surface. A great product, especially for someone in a dorm room or a small apartment, Highly recommended.

Smart Planet MCM-1 Mini Cupcake Maker

Smart Planet MCM-1 Mini Cupcake MakerReceived this as a Valentine's Day gift and fired it up for the first time tonight.LOVED IT.

I made the "Just Plain Good" cupcake recipe from the book Small Batch Baking by Debby Nakos.I was tempted to try a cake mix, but I figured it would make dozens of mini-temptations to haunt me.This recipe was for 4 regular sized cupcakes it made 13 mini-cupcakes (in two batches) in the device.I used paper cups and skipped the oil/cooking spray step. They turned out perfectly! The first batch were ready after one cooking cycle (under 10 min), but the 2nd batch needed two cycles presumably because I didn't wait for the device to completely re-heat before starting the 2nd batch.

One thing I'd point out that the manual is unclear about is how to tell when the cooking cycle is over. The "ready" light turms off at the end of the cycle. It doesn't say that and I wasn't sure, so I opened it prematurely but no biggie, everything was fine.

I wish there was a supporting website where users could exchange recipes, but I'm so far delighted with this it's like a George Foreman grill for cake addicts!

I purchased this product for a project in my Marketing 3100 course. I was a little concerned with it at first, but after using it I am very pleased. The product makes seven moist mini cupcakes at a time. Because it only makes a few at a time, it does take a long time to bake a whole box of cupcake mix. If you are using this product with children DO NOT let them open the lid when the baking time is done, as a large amount of very hot steam comes out and it will cause burns. Overall a very cute product.

I agree with the posters that say this is NOT for children. It's adorable and little so people may think it is but this machine gets very hot. I made vanilla cupcakes then halfway through I added cocoa powder and peanut butter to the batter and then I made a brownie recipe and everything turned out GREAT. These cupcakes are so little they can be eaten in 2 bites. Or onelolI am very pleased with this purchase, thank you.

Update International SFC-12 SuperSteel Induction ready Stainless Steel Fry Pans with Helper Handle,

Update International SFC-12 SuperSteel Induction ready Stainless Steel Fry Pans with Helper Handle, Excalibur Coated, 12-3/4-InchMy wife and I both enjoy cooking. We bought the standard department store stainless set when we got married, then we bought calphalon, and piece by piece, we're working up to AllClad(we've been married over 25 years). However, non-stick pans tend to take a beating over time and eventually, most of them start to stick. This pan didn't break the bank, it cooks evenly on both regular electric stoves and smoothtops and has a helper handle. It works well enough that after I bought this one, I bought a slightly smaller version by Update International for smaller jobs, like small sautes and Sunday morning breakfasts.I got them fairly cheap at my local restaurant store. It takes a few minutes for the base to heat, but it then holds the heat like you would expect from a decent pan.

I've been pleased enough with Update's cookware that I'm buying a small set of pots and pans to take with us to the vacation house we rent each year in New England.I'll be able to get the pieces I need for @ $100 (pan, couple mid sized pots and a stockpot) bunches cheaper than most sets at the department store and better quality besides.I also like the fact that Update's pots come with a solid metal lid (no glass) and it isn't priced separately.

Lodge Logic L8SGP3 Pre-Seasoned Square Grill Pan, 10.5-inch

Lodge Logic L8SGP3 Pre-Seasoned Square Grill Pan, 10.5-inchI just cooked a thick ribeye steak using this grill. It's the first thing that I have cooked on it.Similar to a cast iron frying pan that I have, this generates a lot of "smoke".I had to take the battery out of my smoke detector, and open windows.I think I cooked it at a slightly higher temperature than I needed to.If smoke is a problem, think twice about buying this.

The result is the best steak I have ever cooked indoors. It beats any electric grill I have ever used, and it beats the George Foreman grill hands down.I would say that the results are almost restaurant quality.I look forward to cooking hamburgers within the next day or so.

I think this would work better with slightly less thick cuts of meat.Even at high heat it took longer than it would have taken on a grill.During the cooking I put a metal lid over the pan to control splattering.

I think it will be a breeze to clean.Oiling it after cleaning, with the ridges, will be a little more work than for smoother surfaces.

Because the ridges are so high, the grill does a great job of cooking away from the fat, and probably (my guess) does even a better job than the George Foreman grill in that regard.

Pans like this pay for themselves. This pan is about the cost of a dinner for two, and it will result in less eating out.

Update:I cleaned the pan after making the steak. It was more difficult to clean than other cast iron pans due to the ridges, however, I think I need to find a different tool to clean it with.Someone recommended a grill pad or brush. Also, I usually put the pan over enough heat to evaporate any water from cleaning, and then apply a thin amount of oil. This was also harder.I think it will get better with practice. In any case, the results were worth it.

I will be trying burgers and pork chops soon, so stay tuned!

Update:I cooked pork chops tonight on this grill, and they are the best pork chops I have ever had in my life.I let the pan heat up, and usually also have the electric burner on high heat when adding the meat.I then turn it down a bit.The cast iron doesn't cool off, and it sears the juices in.I have found that a metal cover over the grill works well to keep in splatters and heat.Another thing that is helpful is a temperature fork, which told me tonight that the chops were at 180 degrees, otherwise I would have overcooked them.

This is by far the best money that I have spent on cooking equipment, and it will definitely save a lot of $$$ because I will treat myself to excellent home-cooked meals more often.

It's cast iron, so you can run this pan as hot as you dare to sear the flavor in. Makes excellent burgers and brats, with nice grill marks but no burned spots, even when well-done. Try that with a George Foreman and your burger will be black outside and dryer than the Mojave Desert inside.

The square pan provides plenty of room to fry up a few burgers and the hot juices in the bottom are made-to-order for sauteeing a few mushrooms, onions, or peppers to go on top. The handle is fatter than older Lodge designs and quite ergonomic as long as you're wearing an oven mitt. Cleans nicely by boiling a little water in the pan and giving it a quick scrub with a stiff round natural-bristle vegetable brush and the hottest water that'll come out of the tap.

I would recommend this pan over the 11.5" one Lodge also offers because the thicker bottom, smaller sides, and deeper walls of the 10.5" pan provide fairly even heat over the entire grill surface. It appears that the 11.5" pan is based on the griddle of the same size, and my 11.5" griddle is hot near the center and cooler near the edges when used on a burner OK for hash browns, but bad for burgers, grilled cheese, and such.

Excellent product; if you can't grill outside, this pan is the next best thing!

This was my first time using cast iron cookware, and it was almost the last. After my first attempt, I was very disappointed. The second the food contacted the pre-heated pan it stuck to the it, and I mean really stuck to it. I had to tear the chicken breast from the pan, literally! The clean up was a nightmare. Everything was burnt on. It probably took me close to 20 minutes to clean the pan. I thought about trashing the grill. I thought cast iron cookware was a joke.

Well, a couple of days later I decided to give it another shot. I looked up cast iron cookware on the web and clicked on a random link (unfortunately, I do not remember the link, but it was an old article). The website article explained (if memory serves correctly) that there is a difference between pre-seasoned and seasoned cast iron; it takes many uses to develop a good seasoning of the cast iron utensil; pre-seasoned just means that the first step was already started. It also stated that one should never use any soap or scrub with anything harsh; a plant-fiber brush is recommended because the goal is to get the particles off the pan, not clean off all the used oil left behind. I'm thinking I should have read the directions that came with the pan before I used it instead of assuming it was good to go.

I decided to give it a few more tries. I purchased a cast iron scrub brush to use for cleaning, and spent more time cleaning it before my second use because there was still a lot of burnt on food still stuck to the pan. After a few more uses, I started noticing that food wasn't getting stuck as often, grill marks are looking better and what was burnt on the pan was very easy to clean off with the brush and hot water. About a dozen uses later the pan has developed a smoother, more glossy surface on the cooking surface. Now the food (even fish) just glides off the pan. A quick rinse with hot water and most of the burnt on stuff just flakes off. A quick pass with the brush and the pan is clean and perfectly smooth, in fact, this is the easiest pan to clean in my kitchen. After use (while the pan is till warm but not hot), I just rinse with hot water and a quick pass with the brush, dry it, lightly coat it with oil, and store it for next use.

And the brighter side to this.....it is starting to impart some flavors on the food that makes it taste fantastic! The grill marks are clean and consistent, and it cooks everything evenly.

To the folks who had bad luck with using this for the first time, give it a few more tries before you write this off. It did not work for me at first because I did not read the directions and assumed that using cast iron was no different than using any other type of cookware.

This is a great size for 4 burgers or two large steaks.Great for grilling any meat.I had a Calphalon grill pan and the cleanup was horrible, this one is a breeze & it will last forever. I highly recommend it and all Lodge cookware.

I really liked that fact that this comes pre-seasoned. It's a nice size for 2-4 people and allows for a much larger cooking surface than my George Forman grill. Which I love, but is way too small for more than one person.

I've used this quite often. However, I thought I'd be more impressed. Food seems to stick and burn, although it's gotten a bit better after more use.

Like outdoor grilling, you have to make sure the pan is hot enough, put the meat in the pan and not move it around or keep flipping. Just wait until the one side is done, then flip. I'm going to try to (re)season it myself and see if that helps.

Adds a nice flavor to the food and leaves grill marks. Whatever you do, don't touch the handle after heating without a hot pad. The entire pan gets extremely hot.

Despite the sticking, it cleans up rather nicely. When there's food stuck to the bottom, I put it back on the stove with a little water, bring it to a boil, throw in a bit of baking soda and let it boil for about 5 minutes. After it cools a bit, scrub it with a sponge and it comes right off and looks new again.

You do have to make sure to dry your cast iron well if it gets wet or it will rust. If this happens, don't throw it out! Scrub the rust off with a brillo pad or a ball of crumpled aluminum foil, rinse, dry well and reseason it.

If you're trying to decide between the grill or flat pan, I'd choose the flat pan first. I also have the pre-seasoned flat pan and like it more. It's easier to work with and doesn't smoke quite as much. Also a little easier to clean because it doesn't have the grilling surface.

Cast iron is very heavy, but sturdy, conducts great heat & will last a lifetime. Keep a hot pad close by so you won't forget to use it.

Magefesa Vitalia Aluminum Chicken Fryer with Lid Grey

Magefesa Vitalia Aluminum 2-Quarts Chicken Fryer with Lid GreyI had gotten this to replace another pan that needed to be replaced. When it first came I was very excited. After 5 months, the handle is coming loose(a simple enough fix, but I have to do it once a week).I use this pan frequently and I think that I am already ready to buy another. So if you don't use the pan nearly everyday as I do, I am sure it will hold up nicely for you.It cooks very well and cleans very easily.

Though specified with a 10" diameter, this pan measures no more than 9 1/2" diameter and is smaller than needed. Amazon's simple and convenient ( they pay return postage ) return policy makes our purchase of the larger pan a certainty.

Circulon Infinite Hard Anodized Nonstick 6-Quart Covered Chef Pan

Circulon Infinite Hard Anodized Nonstick 6-Quart Covered Chef PanThis pan is a big improvement over the original Circulon pot I have with the deep circular grooves. This pan has shallow bumps on the pan bottom that are extremely easy to clean. This particular chefs pan is a great size for meals for 4.I love the high straight sides. The pan is heavy for me so I cannot easily lift it or toss ingredients using one hand. The heaviness is the biggest negative for me over the wok I had that this replaces. The reason for the weight is a layer of stainless steel on the bottom of the pan, which is very flat. The lid is also stainless steel and tight fitting.I cook over a budget electric range and the pan is reasonably even heating.I have not noticed the handle getting hot at all, but I have not used very high heat on this pan because it so far does not seem to need it.The non-stick performance has been great, and the pan cleans up very easily.I always hand wash and have not tried in the dishwasher. The pan with the handle seems a little big to fit efficiently in a dishwasher.I like this pan so much that I am going to buy more of the Circulon Infinite cookware.

UPDATE: I have had this pan over a year now and it continues to perform well.I only use wood or nylon utensils with the pan, never metal. The "non-stick" has held up very well, but I always wipe a small amount of oil onto the pan with a paper towel.Just enough to coat the bottom there should be no visible oil.Just a sheen.I have moved to a gas burner, and the pan still cooks very evenly. The bottom is still dead flat. This pan gets used at least 3 times a week for everything from braising, frying, sauteing, and stir frying.I still highly recommend this pan.

Yes, this chef's pan works so perfectly on an induction cooktop. For those wanting to know, yes, the base will comfortably fit within your induction cooktop's 12-inch maximum diameter requirement, if you have one.

After more than five months of cooking with thisCirculon Infinite Circulon 6-Quart Covered Chef Pan with Helper Handle wonderful piece of cookware, I must agree wholeheartedly with others here.It is terrific!

First, I was thrilled to be able to use it on the induction cooktop I had purchased earlier.Still amazed at how very fast this combination of tools will produce tasty, quality results.

As others have attested, cut way down on any oils or fats you use.Am still cutting down.I like extra virgin olive oil for flavor in my cooking.I probably only need 1/2 teaspoon or less now.You cannot believe how you don't need any oils at all for browning in this pan.

Yes, it's an "everything pan".Perfect size for family stovetop casseroles, super for hearty soups and stews, and more.I haven't used it in the oven yet, but would feel confident about its performance there.

This pan heats more evenly than any I have owned. It is a fine, handsome, solid piece of construction. It does have weight, but it feels good and has a thoughtfully sculptured elongated handle, plus a helper handle to make lifting the pan nearly effortless for most members of the family.

Those handles do stay cool on top of the stove. The lid is a nice weight, as well.It provides a tight fit and is made of quality stainless steel, like the handles.Haven't had to use a potholder on the lid yet, either.

Best money I have spent on any piece of cookware.Cleanup involves a swish or two with hot, soapy water and rinse.Though you can put this in the dishwasher, why waste all that hot water and energy?

Highly recommend.

I have a 10 piece set of Infinite Circulon, but this extra pan is the most useful of all. You can brown meat right in the pan, add liquids and veggies (it is 6 quart size), and put it all right into the oven. It heats evenly with a Stainless Steel bottom, and never sticks on top of the stove or in the oven (safe up to 500 degrees). Clean up takes just minutes, or these pans can even go into the dishwasher.

I'm trying to replace my 12 inch covered saute pan. Every one I get warps and doesn't sit flat on my glass-top stove. My current pan has developed a crack in the Teflon and is starting to stick, so it's got to go. The reviews of this pan lead me to give it a try, and I'm glad I did.

The stats are just plain off on this listing. "6 x 16 x 5 inches; 11 pounds; 9 lb shipping weight" ?! Apparently its some sort of chimney tube that gets lighter when you ship it!

The reality is: the pan is about 11 inches (28cm) in diameter, plus a little bit for the flare at the top. The box label calls it a 6qt/5.5L/28cm pan. It's just over 4 inches deep. The long handle adds 9 inches of length, and the helper handle another 2-1/2 or so. The steel/aluminum disk on the bottom is dead flat, 1/4 inch thick and 9 inches in diameter. There is no way a stove is going to warp it. It is heavy at over 4-1/2 lbs for the pan plus about 1-1/2 lbs for the lid. The box says it was made in Thailand.

Circulon includes a "Lifetime Customer Satisfaction Guarantee" and suggests you visit their website or call their customer relations number 800-326-3933 if you have any problems. The use and care instructions warn against leaving an empty pan over too high heat, which can burn the nonstick coating and release toxic fumes (a known issue common to all non-stick cookware; never cook over 500F with non-stick surfaces!) It doesn't otherwise say not to use oils in the pan, just not to overheat them. Keep in mind that most cooking oils will smoke above 375-400F, so you have an easy way to tell when its getting too hot.

I'll have to use it before I can speak to the longevity. There are plenty of good reviews for that here anyway. I expect to be pleased enough to look for the 10-piece set and replace all of my old, mismatched cookware in the near future.

May 2011 update 8 months and I still love the pan. I did get the 10-piece set as a Christmas gift. Have not managed to damage the non-stick on any of them. They can be washed in the dish washer without harm. Always come out clean as new. Great pan, and a great set.

I got this pan when I got my Circulon Infinite Induction Cooker. The conductivity of the aluminum with the induction capability of the stainless disk make a great cook pan! I deep fry, stir fry, saute before braising, braise, boil for pasta, etc., etc., etc! Clean up is a snap!It quickly became my favorite cook pan because I don't have the "hot spot" problem with it that I have with some other pans using and induction burner. I use primarily All-Clad, but I now intend to buy other Circulon Infinite cookware. And guess what, I used to hate Circulon cookware!
