Magnalite Classic 15-Inch Oval Covered Roaster

Magnalite Classic 15-Inch Oval Covered Roasterafter reading both the 15 and 18 inch roaster reviews i learned that these magnalites are made in china now and so the testimonies of magnalite quality over many years are no longer valid for these chinese models. what we need are reviews by people who have actually purchased these now available from china. apparently some reviewers of the 18 inch

model say there are problems now. the reviews for the 15 inch model seem to focus on older usa made models in the family for years...but that isn't helpful since they aren't even made here now. please, some of you who've actually used these new products...write some reviews for us...

My mother always used Guardian Service cookware, bought back in the early 1950's, which was the ultimate in cookware then, also being cast aluminum. I inherited her cookware (which they no longer make) but not until I had already purchased a Magnalite set, which is the closest match to the Guardian Service. It is true waterless cooking. Easy clean up. I never had to "season" mine first (that's usually only done with cast iron cookware) and I've had most of my Magnalite pieces for 30 years. A 15 lb turkey fits in the 15" roaster and I get raves every Thanksgiving . . . the roaster practically makes it's own dark, rich gravy and the turkey meat is so moist! To me, as a devoted family "chef", nothing on the market can beat Magnalite.

My Mom got her 15" Magnalite oval roaster in the 1970s, I think (although it may have been my Dad the professional cook who decided to buy it). It's still in the family today and is in wonderful shape; however, it is a Wagner Ware Magnalite roaster (made in the USA), not the Chinese-made Magnalite Classic you can buy new nowadays. If you like the Magnalite concept but are concerned about the quality control of the new pieces, try looking for used Magnalite pans, either on Amazon Marketplace or eBay.(The eBay listings will typically include a picture of the bottom of the pot, so you can confirm which version of Magnalite is being sold.On Amazon Marketplace, perhaps you could contact the seller with a question if their written description doesn't provide enough detail about the item you're considering.)That said, if you do decide to buy the Magnalite Classic 15" roaster new from Amazon, at least they have a very good return policy if there's any problems with the product you receive.Good luck!

Deni Electric Skillets

Deni 8260 12-by-12-Inch Electric Nonstick SkilletDon't buy the Deni 8255 skillet. It's junk! The temperature control kicks-on low and continues until it burns the food.It doesn't have a good non-stick surface and the cast aluminum is thin.Get the Presto 06850 16-inch Electric Skillet instead.I did and rated it 5-stars.The Deni is NOT worth buying.

Doesn't heat up.If you pre-heat to 375 for frying and add the food, it just sits there getting barely warm.

Light weight "tinny" construction.

What a disappointment!

I'm giving it a bit higher rating than 1 because the teflon was very good.It worked great for a about a month, then the temperature started going haywire.I should have returned it, but my life was too crazy then.I figured that I learned my lesson and will check out reviews from now on.

I have no idea what kind of quality control Deni has. I don't even know why it is allowed to do dishonest business without consequence!

I bought a Deni hot plate and that did not heat up. I would set it on the highest setting for 25-30 minutes and it could still not cook a simple egg!

Well, I bought this electric skillet (the 12x12 inch one) and lo and behold! It succeeds at being lukewarm. The shoddiest temperature control are found on Deni products. They DO NOT HEAT! If you want to keep cooked food warm, sure, buy this product. But to actually cook anything, look elsewhere! At least Deni is consistent in its low quality products! I can't even return it because it was a gift!

Iittala Sarpaneva Cast Iron Casserole

iittala Sarpaneva 3-Quart Cast Iron Casserole with Wooden HandleWhen you read the description of this pot on any website, including Amazon's, it sounds as if the iittala company decided that cooks today needed another chance to own this beautiful, practical pot, so they decided to manufacture it again. The descriptions, which wax rhapsodic about the pots proudly bearing the Timo Sarpeneva Design stamp, (and the $230 price tag), lead one to believe it is manufactured in Finland. Some of the seller's descriptions, including Amazon's, actually state that this pot is made in Finland. Not so!A tiny paper sticker reveals the country of origin to be China. The finishing made me suspicious before I saw the sticker-it's rather rough around the edges, not smooth like the original Finnish ones made in the 1960's.I actually ordered this pot twice-the first time, it arrived with a big chip off the edge, which was strange, because as the chipped-off piece wasn't in the box, it must have been put into the box that way.So much for quality control, but I really wanted one of these pots, and I convinced myself that mistakes could happen to anyone.I didn't examine the box at that time, or I would have seen the Made in China sticker discreetly located on the bottom. When the second pot arrived, I was again a little disappointed in the finishing of the edges, because for $230 this should be a high quality, carefully made piece of cookware, but the design is too adorable for words, so I was ready to keep it anyway. Then I noticed the China sticker.Seriously? If I buy a Le Creuset pot and pay $230, at least I know it's made in France! If it's going to be a knockoff, it better also have a knockoff price tag.You can get a Le Creuset-style pot made in China at Target for $50.If this pot cost $50, I'd figure I was getting what I paid for.I had been reading various cooking blogs in which rabid Le Creuset lovers discussed the iittala and other expensive cast-iron cooking pots, and the funny thing is, all of them seemed to believe that these pots are made in Finland.Go to the iittala site and give their advertising for these pots a really close read.Nowhere is this claim actually made, although it is very much implied.I started to wonder if perhaps it was simply the packaging that was made in China, so I called the U.S. distributor for iittala. They were quite up front, telling me that ALL of the iittala cast-iron products are made in China.Apparently the home company, which the advertising implies is producing this pot, only makes a few of the iittala products, such as the $3000 artisan glass vases.Needless to say, I returned the pot.Given the quality of the finishing, it isn't worth $230.I felt it deserved two stars simply becauseTimo Sarpaneva's design is immortal-practical and lyrical at once, and I regret that the iittala company doesn'trespect his work enough to see that it is produced as it should be.I also don't appreciate being intentionally deceived.

I was suprised to see this on amazon, its a design classic and something I've always wanted. The pot is heavy cast iron with a white enamel interior and is made very well. The handle on mine had a bit of the finish off where it slides through the pot, but I figured this would happen with use regardless.Love it!

Simply Calphalon Enamel 10 Inch Covered Omelette Pan, Black

Simply Calphalon Enamel 10 Inch Covered Omelette Pan, BlackThis is a great pan that is incredibly easy to use. I gave this pan as a gift to my wife and she loves it. Don't let the name fool you, while you can easily make a great omelet using this pan, it's just as good for any sort of pan frying or sauteing.

Pros:

Great heat distribution I haven't noticed any hot spots on this pan in the months we've had it.

Heats and cools rapidly This gives you great control over the cooking temperature. Turn the heat up and the pan heats up, turn it down and it cools. Allows you to brown nicely without burning.

It's a great size The 10" size is big enough for most meals while not being too big for single servings. Our 12" skillet is too cumbersome and for some tasks too big. Meanwhile, 8" skillets are too small for most tasks so they just take up space. We use this and our 10" Lodge skillet (which the lid for this fits nicely, I might add) more than any others.

A good shape This is important too. The edges are very rounded, this allows you to easily work along the sides of the pan. Plus, it's not too shallow so you can fit a good bit in it.

A very comfortable handle It has a rubberized handle that isolates heat well and provides a comfortable grip.

Glass lid It's good to be able to see your food if you need to use the lid.

Cons:

Not dishwasher safe It's nice to throw things in the dishwasher and forget about them, but you can't do that with this pan. This is offset by the surfaces being very easy to clean, so a quick rinse and a little soap does the trick.

No metal utensils This is the downfall of most non-stick cookware. I don't mind, I've had T-Fal in the past that was supposed to be able to take metal utensils but ended up flaking. Yuck. Still, if you are weary of plastic this pan won't work for you.

Oven safe only to 400 degrees You can fry something in this pan and finish it in the oven, but only at lower temperatures. This is because of the glass lid and the rubberized handles.

Overall it's a great pan. This, or something like it, should be in every kitchen.

My mom specifically told me she needed a glass covered 10" non-stick pan that also had slanted edges to prepare her omelets like she wants.I'm her favorite kid now!Ok, so I'm her only kid but you get the picture, she's delighted as this design, in 10" with the glass cover was difficult to find.

Paula Deen 12 Inch Porcelain Open Skillet, Red

Paula Deen 12 Inch Porcelain Open Skillet, RedMy niece is a young bride and she fries alot of chicken for her husband. She was asking for a large skillet for Christmas.I bought this one for her and she loves it.The color is bright and the non-stick interior with deep sides is just what she was looking for.I am thinking on buying one for myself I liked it so much.

After only a few months of cooking with this pan I took a good look at the surface inside the pan and noticed the black lining was bubbling and peeling off. I took a paper towel and wiped and even had residue particles of the black stuff onmy paper towel, telling me it must be getting into the food I was cooking and eating.Very disappointing because I bought these thinking they would be safe to cook with, as I am concerned about the toxins used on pans.Today I received a cast iron pan and am convinced after searching everywhere and trying these pans also, that cast iron is truly the only safe material to cook on.I thought iron would be hard to clean, but it wasn't. Just wipe a coating of veg. oil all along the inside of pan before cooking and the pan comes clean with hot boiling after.Just don't ever put an iron pan in dishwasher. I never put THIS pan in the dishwasher, I babied it and it is still peeling off into the food. I contacted Paula Dean cookware company about getting something done about this, but no response. I should have saved my receipt!!How stupid of me!! If you are set on buying one of these, save your receipt! I thought there was some sort of a warranty, but you cant do anything without your receipt. Will put these out to the trash. I cant afford to waste money like this.

Two of my sons carefully planned to purchase this skillet for me for Christmas '09 as they know I love to cook and a large new skillet was needed. The kitchen rules of our house include ONLY plastic OR wooden tools used in lined pans/pots when cooking. For clean-up, a washcloth and rarely a soft brush were used during washing of this skillet.

So, we were all terribly disappointed about 5 months ago when this skillet's started peeling, leaving us concerned about food contamination. Another "has been" skillet has now been eliminated from our cooking arsenal and I sorely miss it!However, I WILL NOT buy another one from this collection.

We'll keep shopping around for a better one...

I received the Paula Dean pots and pans set for Christmas but it didn't have a large 12" skillet with it. I purchased this separate so I could have a large skillet for frying foods.I like the non-stick finish, the deepness of the skillet the color. I do not put my Paula Dean pots in the dishwasher even though it says dishwasher safe.I heard from a few others that the nice gloss exterior finish wears after several washings in the dishwasher. Would recommend this!

I bought one of these at Walmart a while ago and loved it so much I went back a while later to buy another and could not find them anywhere anymore. So glad I could find it on Amazon. This skillet looks and cooks great. I like the high sides and the larger size of the skillet. It is great when my family comes for dinner and I need a bigger skillet.

Lodge Enamel 11-inch Skillet

Lodge Color EC11S33 Enameled Cast Iron Skillet, Caribbean Blue, 11-inchI've had this pan for several months now and had previously been used to frying with regular cast iron or stainless steel. I have a flat top stove and am not supposed to use my cast iron on it so I thought I would try this one instead. I've found that the interior is better than stainless steel for cooking certain things (like over-easy eggs) with a simple clean-up and minimal sticking. It's also good for reheating left-over meals, or making pancakes.

However, when I tried cooking things like sausage, or stir-fry meat, or with any sauces that contained sugar, I ended up with charred bits that would not come off. I tried boiling the pan with vinegar, or scouring gently with baking soda and nothing works. I did of course follow the directions and have never cooked on any setting above medium (usually, I use medium low). Then I made the mistake of frying falafel in the pan. I now have a permanent layer of caramelized oil on the bottom of my pan. Add the two chips on the handle that came off within the first week of use (and I am extremely gentle with this pan), and I would have to say I am fairly disappointed.

I also own the Lodge Enamel 6 quart dutch oven, and that item is fabulous. Not a chip or stain on it, even though I use it extensively. Also, I have fried up some of the same things in the dutch oven as the fry pan with no sticking/stains in the dutch oven, but with permanently charred bits in the fry pan. Lodge should have made this one with the glossy interior.

Perhaps I'll replace this one with the 3 quart covered casserole since it has the glossy interior.

Browns nicely, very nonstick, easy cleanup.I was surprised that the inside was a matte enamel finish that is not smooth like the the inside of the dutch oven .It works just great though. The other good news is that the lid from the 6 quart dutch oven fits it perfectly.Lodge Enamel on Cast Iron 6 Quart Dutch Oven, Caribbean Blue

Now one down side is that this thing is heavy as hell.Without the helper handle it would be very awkward to lift unless you are built like Arnold Schwarzenegger (at least how he used to be built). This isn't for your grandmother (unless she is a weightlifter).

An update. We have had absolutely no sticking problems. We cooked a salmon dish last night with a sauce that had some sugar in it.No problems (and absolutely delicious BTW) .A chicken dish with ricotta, the other day, worked great.I use a little higher heat, up to medium high, then slow it down to medium when browning.Let the food release before flipping.

No soaking, no scrubbing, just the plastic thing (on the other side of the kitchen sponges, can't think of the name), hot water, dish soap and almost no elbow grease.

I'd say it is a bargain. We have mostly Calphalon in our kitchen but are using this extensively. It looks good too.

Pretty good pan.A lot easier to maintain and keep clean than a traditional cast iron pan.The "white enamel" style fry pans are more non-stick than this with liquid items like eggs. The "satin enamel" finish in this one, which is a rough cast iron type finish with a dark gray enamel coating, tends to stick less on solid items like steak and bacon.

So you may use a little more fat in this pan than in one of the ones using a smooth bottom white enamel style, which all of the other Lodge pans use.

This type of finish is also going to be a lot harder to scratch or scrape with tools, and wont show a scratch as much.

If you're going to cook cornbread and scrambled eggs 95% of the time...I might consider one of the white smooth enamel bottom. If you're going to sear a lot of meats and dont mind using a bit of fat with your cornbread or eggs, this will work great and you cant beat the price.

When I received this pan the inside enamel was very rough. I knew this would be the case based on other reviews so it was not a shocker. On first use, there was barely any sticking. However when trying to dry the pan after washing, I notice the rough texture was causing paper towel and terry towel "bits" to get left behind on the pan. So I decided to "season" the pan. Best decision ever.

My process (as described by another reviewer)

1. Pre-heat the pan (to a low temp in oven or on stovetop), just barely hot to the touch

2. Thin coat of canola oil rubbed onto the pan

3.Put pan back on stovetop and turn the heat to medium (maybe slightly over)

4. Once pan starts to smoke, turn down the heat slightly and let it continue to smoke for 15 minutes

5. Let the pan cool, rub it down with a dry paper bowl

6. Repeat process until smooth finish

The pan is now flawless

This is a decent pan but it's not a substitute for real (i.e. seasoned) cast iron. I have a halogen smooth top cooking surface which I generally love, however it's not compatible with traditional cast iron skillets. True cast iron has two important properties, it's non-stick and it's indestructible, this pan lacks both of those features. Instead of having a seasoned cast iron cooking surface it has a rough enamel coat which isn't any less sticky than stainless steel and it's much less durable. The coating is as delicate as teflon, the instructions say to use silicone instead of steel tools with it, and not to put the pan in a dishwasher. So far cleanup with a sponge and water has been fine, however I've been very careful not to burn anything onto the pan. We all know that burning something is inevitable, with stainless steel and true cast iron you can use steel wool to clean up the worst mess, I wouldn't dare try that with this pan. I've also found that heat distribution isn't quite as even as it is with good stainless (i.e the sandwich bottom type).

As far as I can tell nobody makes a proper smooth-top compatible cast iron pan, i.e. a flat enameled bottom and a seasoned cast iron interior. I don't know why this is so hard, but if someone were to sell a pan like that I'd buy it in a second.

Precise Heat 12-Inch Surgical Stainless Steel Deep Electric Skillet/Slow Cooker

Precise Heat 12-Inch Surgical Stainless Steel Deep Electric Skillet/Slow CookerI searched for hours on the net, looking for one thay was NOTa non stick coatingAND had the metal lid, this had both of what I was looking for! works well, and easy clean up! a very good buy for the money

This is a beautiful pot with a polished stainless steel interior and exterior. This was very important to me as I needed a crockpot that did not use typical glazed ceramic for the same reason I avoid non-stick teflon cookware. After noting it's quality, I was surprised by how large the pot is. You could cook 2 whole chickens in this thing. Using it for the first time yesterday, I wanted to burn it in by using the hottest setting. It got very hot very quickly. This could be a plus, but also something to keep an eye on. I was braising a chicken and it was boiling the water within 10 minutes even though the chicken was frozen. The temperature dial has a range from 225 to 425 degrees. I am curious how this will work as a slow cooker and will post an edit later.

Now for the cons : the lid is not heavy enough. As soon as the water began to boil, it started to make the lid bob up and down and splatter everywhere. I did not have it overfilled with water. I put a heavy object on the lid and opened the steam vent in the center of the lid, but it still kept splattering liquid. This happens at it's hottest setting. I don't imagine this will be much of a problem at a lower setting, but don't know yet.

Apart from this issue, this is a great looking, very functional stainless steel skillet/slow cooker that seems to be constructed well with quality materials (except for the too-thin lid, also stainless steel though it looks as if it could be glass in the picture).

Le Creuset 3-Ply Stainless-Steel 12 1/2 Inch Nonstick Fry Pan

Le Creuset 3-Ply Stainless-Steel 12 1/2 Inch Nonstick Fry PanI have been buying my fry pans at a restaurant supply but got tired of the declining quality. This is a very good product. As always, let cool before putting under the water or you will warp the pan bottom I am sure. This is a very sturdy product with a superior non stick finish.I will let you know in five years or so if it held up to my expectations.By the way, it holds a whole meal for a family.I really like that versus two or three skillets of cooking, trying to keep the first and second warm while you finish the last. This will be a good purchase for you.

I had always loved my cast iron cookware from this company:however they can not make non-stick cookware;I suggest you look elsewhere.6 months after I purchased my pan it began to delaminate. The coating started seperating from the cooking surface.Who wants pieces of non-stick coating in their scrambled eggs?

I called their warranty line. They don't staff it with enough people because you have to wait forever to get through and they throw you to voice mail if it's busy. When you get through to them, they will politely explain to you that they don't pay for you to ship the pan back, despite what it says on their web site. That's right!now I'm out an additional 20 bucks!

THANK YOU LE CRUESET for showing me the best side of corporate indifference.I could get better warranty service if I'd bought from WilliamsSonoma who stand by their products:however I wanted to buy local. Now I understand why my local kitchen store stopped stocking their stuff.Next time,I will buy a cheap pan at Target and if it last a year then I'm still ahead of the game.

Meanwhile,I will ask my gypsy friends to curse the Le Cruset executives who are apparently making tons of money by ripping off their customers.

T-fal E9389764 Professional Nonstick Oven Safe Dishwasher Safe 10-Inch Fry Pan / Saute Pan Cookware with Glass Lid, BlackThis is my second T-Fal purchase; it is very hard to sift through all the different models of pans even within the T-Fal offerings, this Professional series is the one.The bottom has good weight and the high sides make it easier to load the pan with a families' worth of ingredients. The glass cover is very sturdy and much nicer than a metal lid.Overall this is the pan, I would like to find this same configuration in an 8 in size. Ordered through Amazon, came from a different vendor but without issues or delay.

This is a great pan. I cook with it every day. From eggs to sauce to stir-fry, etc and it stays non-stick and wicked easy to clean. In many cases a rinse and a paper towel is all it takes. The 12" is too big though. I shoulda bought the 10" pan instead. Size matters. ;)

Rival S11P-015 11-Inch Square Skillet with Glass Lid, Black

Rival S11P-015 11-Inch Square Skillet with Glass Lid, BlackTwo things I don't like about this electric skillet: it feels a little wobbly on its legs and when it's cooking, it practically shuts off in order to moderate the temperature. But it does cook pretty well when you figure out your temperatures, and it does a wonderful job of browning and still keeping the food moist. Clean up is a breeze. It's a good electric skillet if you aren't looking to feed a little army.

The problem is that the heating element is a circular strip, so heating occurs strongly there and not so much in the middle or out at the edges although the aluminum of the vessel does conduct the heat to some degree. If you are cooking something that has a lot of liquid or something that needs to be tossed, scrambled or stir-fried, it will work OK because either the liquid will transfer the heat or you'll keep moving the material around until it hits the hottest area. But for anything that requires say searing or simmering you'll have to keep adjusting where the food is in the skillet. Another thing you should know is that it achieves the selected lower temperature by cycling the heating element on and off, so instead of a steady heat you get heat then nothing, heat then nothing. Again, for some purposes this is fine, and obviously not for others.

I used this quite a lot to process cull pears from my little orchard, into pear jam and for that it was fine as long as I kept stirring. I do like the glass lid which fits fairly tightly and has a steam vent hole. I like being able to view what's cooking, and like the condensation to roll back into the pan, which it does with this domed lid. The lid, however, reveals another flaw: the glass and metal rim come together in a way that creates a sharply angled space where steam-borne food debris is deposited. This is difficult to remove and easy to overlook, creating an opportunity for bacteria. Overall, if I'm going to give any money at all and cupboard space for a cooking appliance, I want the thing to be better designed.

I have only had this pan since Christmas (approx. 2 weeks) and have used it just about every day since. I treat it with kid gloves using only silicone utensils and hand wash it with mild detergent. Tonight, after cooking a hamburger, the finish started peeling off in 2 different places. Very dissapointed!

This was the first electric skillet I have ever bought. After spending a summer with my sister and her husband, and watching them use their electric skillet almost everyday to cook so many wonderful things, I decided I needed one.Since I travel all the time and live in an RV, I decided I only needed one of the square skillets instead of the bigger rectangular skillets.

After researching online, and reading a lot of different product reviews, I decided the skillet needed to have the following features:

glass top

steam vent

rubber pads on the feet

fully adjustable heat control (not just low, medium, and high)

be cheap (I did not want to spend a fortune)

Once I identified what I wanted, I was able to narrow down my selection to the Rival 11 inch square skillet.Since receiving my skillet, I have used it just about everyday. From cooking pancakes, eggs, and omelets in the morning to grilled cheese sandwiches for lunch, and many differnt one pot meals for dinner it works great.Cleanup is also an absolute breeze, and it fits nicely into one of my cabinets for storage without any big hassel.

One thing to note, if you are looking for something to pour several inches of oil into and then deep fry donuts or other such items, this is not the skillet to purchase. You are going to have to spend a lot more money to obtain a skillet or product that will heat and keep the oil hot enough for that type of cooking. This skillet though does do a great job in cooking home made fried chicken, frying fish, or other such items.

Anyways, I am certainly happy with my Rival skillet, and would not hesitate to buy one as a gift to give to someone else.

Well, after three months of using my skillet just about everyday, I thought I would come back and update my comment.I am tremedously satisfied with the skillet.I have had absolutely no problems with it in any manner what so ever.A couple of things I do to protect the coating on it: I make sure to wait until it cools down before washing.I also only use plastic spatuals and spoons when cooking in it.Last, when cleaning it I use a cheap plastic cleaning brush, simply put a little dishwasher soap and some warm water in it and scrub. Then rinse and wipe dry with a paper towel.I cook pancakes or bacon/eggs in it just about every morning.I set the temp on 275% for that.If I am cooking a one skillet meal such as chicken and rice, I will brown the meat and vegies at 300%, then add the rice and water turning it up to 350% till it comes to a boil, then turn it back down to 275% to simmer.I have not yet had to turn the temperature on the skillet above 350%.Remember the skillet is aluminum, and if you overheat it needlessly, then that is likely when you will start having problems with the coating flaking off as some people have mentioned. From macaroni and cheese to all those other one box meals such as fettucini, tuna helper, rice aroni, etc... this skillet works great.I simply throw in either hamburger, sausage, chicken cubed, or canned tuna.I also love to add black olives, canned mushroons, bell peppers (all colors), chopped onions, garlic, canned or fresh tomatoes, and hot peppers.Just start adding things, then when they are browned add the contents of your rice or pasta helper box, bring to a boil, turn down and simmer for time stated, then serve it all up, and enjoy...

This pan is true to its advertising.Cook's magazine scored it well and they were certainly correct. It heats evenly (on my gas stove) and cleans easily.I'm enjoying using it.

Heavy well-made typical Cusinart. But I'm using their 8 inch GreenGourmet fry pan a lot more for quick frying.

On this pan, I would have liked a glass cover. I've found that my old glass cover for a similarly sized ancient double-handle fry pan works fairly well, so I use that instead.

Also, although it sounds deep enough, I would have preferred to forgo the shallow sloped sides which decrease overall capacity. I find myself going back to my old pan with straighter sides (same width), although the non-stick is very worn and probably not as safe as a diamond surface. The straighter side pan has considerable volume, such that I can cook soup, casseroles, etc. This one's volume is constrained by the slopey sides.

BL: Would have returned it if I had not detroyed the box...although it's my fault, not Cuisinart's. The photo shows shallow sides and solid cover. This pan was meant to be a compromise since I couldn't find anything like my old pan again...bad calculation on my part.

I bought a Scanpan but learned later through my research that it use some coating that are similar to Teflon, just in a different name. Since this pan was listed PTFE and PFOA free I decided to give it a try and am very happy with the performance and ease of cleaning. I made grilled cheese without any oil and butter. Cleaning was just simply wipe it with a piece of wet paper towel. It looks good on my cook top as well. Time will tell if the green coating will last as long as I hope.

Universal Housewares Pre-Seasoned Cast Iron Pizza Pan

Universal Housewares Pre-Seasoned Cast Iron Pizza PanThis is a fine cast iron griddle that is somewhat cheaper than the nearest competitor. It is pre-seasoned, meaning you do not have to go through all the steps of repeated oiling, baking, and cleaning the griddle to make it more non-stick.I did pre-season a couple times, however, as often the "factory" seasoning on these pans is not as good as it could be.

The griddle is approximately 10 x 15, with the 10 inches being the diameter of the round section, the 15 inches includes the handle. It is relatively lightweight, much lighter thanthan a cast iron skillet or square griddle pan.It makes the perfect sized pizza for one or two people in the oven.It also works on the stove top to grill bacon, pancakes, sausage, etc.

I cannot compare it to a lodge as I don't have a lodge griddle, but I do know it does the job and does it well at a lower price.

I just love this pre seasoned pan.It did not come with that nasty waxy coating on it that gives off a heinous odor when heated. It was ready to use....after a washing of course...

I have yet to make a pizza on it, but have used it for numerous other meals.

When I purchased the Pizza Pan I assumed it was at least 12 inches BECAUSE THERE WAS NO SIZE GIVEN!

That is bare minimum size for a Pizza Pan, the one I purchased was 10 inches!!!!

I think that makes for a pretty SMALL PIZZA, SO LESSON LEARNED!

Sellers should ALWAYS include ALL DETAILS about their product!!!

Buyers, don't by a product unless they do!

I am retuning the product!

Information on this item doesn't mention that it is only 10 inches in diameter. Other than that it's a great pizza pan that can also be used as a griddle. I love cast iron but wish it were 12 to 14 inches in diameter. 10 inches is an awfully small pizza!

Anolon Advanced Bronze Hard Anodized Nonstick 4.5-Quart Tapered Stockpot

Anolon Advanced Bronze Hard Anodized Nonstick 4.5-Quart Tapered StockpotI have many cookwares from the Anolon Advanced Bronze Collection. This 4.5 quart stockpot and the 3 quart sauce pot are my favorite. I've cooked rice and curry, and they are fabulously non-stick and easy to clean. Rubber handles stay cool, and are very comfortable to hold onto. The bottom of this pot is a bit smaller than the top, measuring 7 inches in diameter instead of the 9.5 inches at the top.

One area of improvement is the exterior finish. The bronze hue is of an elegant shade. Unfortunately, it is not scratch resistant and can be chipped off. So be careful cleaning and avoid coming into contact with any sharp object.

excellent finish, tight lid.light to handle and cleans easily.handles are excellent and stay cool.price was right at time of purchase and reviews were very good .also checked with consumer reports and they gave high ratings. very satisfied

When I purchased a new ceramic top stove, I had to part with some of my favorite frying pans (cast iron which I do use, but carefully and occasionally). I like these pans so well I ordered another set, and bought this 4 qt pot as well. These are well made and a delight to cook with.

A year later, I still love this pan...good size for soup, etc. However, either I didn't notice it at first or it somehow changed size, but the lid doesn't fit really tight (for dumplings) but it does fit ok for anything else.

As the title says, the size and non-stick surface are simply excellent! The instructions specifically say to wash by hand; this is the first time I've seen that instruction as more than just a generalized suggestion.I like that this Analon stockpot is a nice weight without being either too heavy or too flimsy. It arrived well packaged.I have since purchased a set of these pots and pans. The lid for this stockpot also fits several of the frying pans from the set.

My first set of pans was a glass set with non-stick bottom. They were dreadful.I replaced them with an Analon set (sorry, I don't remember which kind now) that held up very nicely until the non-stick coating started to peel off. This took more than ten years to happen, so I can't complain too much.I have also used cast-iron and stainless steel pans.Cast-iron is super heavy. That said, once seasoned I don't have trouble with food sticking, but aside from giant lodge pots, it is hard to find anything other than frying pans in cast iron.I find stainless cooks soups nicely but with anything else they stick so badly, even with extra oil, that I would really have to soak and scrub to get the cooked-on food off. This would happen with anything from onions to bacon.I mention these so you know some of my "pan history".

We will see how this pan holds up in the long run, and I'll update this review if I do have any troubles.

Gread size for soups and beans. Love the slightly flared shape. Interior and exterior finish are beautiful just like the set. Love the handle grips.
