BergHOFF Copper Clad 12-Inch Stainless Steel Fry Pan

BergHOFF Copper Clad 12-Inch Stainless Steel Fry PanI have the BergHOFF Earthchef series and love them. This pan is absolutely terrible.Very light weight and EVERYTHING sticks to it no matter how or what you are cooking.Complete waste of money.Do not buy.

So first of all this is the first review for this item so accordingly when I bought it there was non :) Too bad for me ..may be I would no buy it if there would be a review. So here you go..

To begin with the packaging was horrible. The box came with the handle sticking out of it.

As long as I had a big issue and fight with American Kitchen because some of their 18/10 stainless steel is NOT a real stainless steel every time I buy 18/10 SS I check it.This one is NOT %100 18/10 SS (I mean those parts that suppose to be 18/10). However it is close and not that bad (I would say about %75 is 18/10) otherwise I would ship it strait back.

So I decided to give it a shot.

It heated very slowly and than cooled down same slow (which is normal and good).

I wasted about 12 eggs trying to fry them on low heat, on high heat, with different types of oil but no matter what I did I could not get even one normally fried egg. They just kept sticking to the pan.

I bought it here from Amazon for $32.31 and I will not return it but will look for some better option (better does not mean more expensive).

If you would ask me I would not suggest buying it.

Update:Just tried to fry some meat and it worked out almost perfectly. And that increased my opinion about this pan.

YoshiBlade Knife, Ceramic

YoshiBlade Knife, CeramicI'll admit I was expecting miracles based on TV ads, the packaging, and reviews I saw online. All I can say is, you get what you pay for, and this is only a $19 knife.

My first clue that this wasn't the end-all came from the package insert. The list of what NOT to do with this knife is twice as long as what you can do. You can't cut with it against just any surface, so my glass cutting board was out. You can't twist or rock the blade for fancy chopping, and you can't press on the side of it (like when you smash/peel garlic) My Yoshi did not quite slice a tomato like butter, the way the TV ads show. The short blade also makes it impractical for larger potatoes, onions, etc.

That all said, once I got over the limitations I find I reach for it often to cut up smaller things like green onions, chili peppers, carrots, etc. It works just fine and is definitely not a bad little knife for the price. You just have to be careful with it, because the ceramic blade is fragile if mishandled.

I received the Yoshi Blade knife in June of this year, used it normally for vegetables and fruits, and then yesterday, September 23rd, 2010 it breaks inside the handle. I call customer service to explain that I have only had it for 2 1/2 months, and all I get for a response is "the knife is out of warranty." Is there anything else I can help you with today?

Are you for real? Defective product! Even more defective customer services (if you can call it that!)

My wife made the unfortunate mistake of buying another Yoshi Blade and the blade chipped in less than 2 weeks!!!!!

If there was a rating one could give allowing for MINUS STARS, I WOULD RATE THIS PIECE OF TRASH THAT WAY!

DON'T BUY THIS! YOU'RE WASTING YOUR MONEY!

For anyone reading this post who thinks it is somehow contrived, I can assure you it is NOT! Read the part about POOR customer service from Yoshi Blade, and you will know why I wrote the article to begin with. It's never just about a product that breaks. It IS about how the company handles it!

Maybe I was lucky but we love our Yoshi Blade. Honestly for $19 how could you go wrong. If you look at all of pro ceramic blades you see that they are significantly more than the Yoshi Blade. Think of this knife set as an intro to ceramic blades. I have never seen the infomercial nor the ad on TV. So when I got it it was mostly a curious tool to use in the kitchen. All I can say is that this blade is amazingly sharp. It slices tomatoes, citrus, bread, cucumbers and other veggies amazing.

I am a vegetarian so I have no experience with this cutting meat. It does slice through tofu very easy. The minus 1 star is sometimes it is very difficult to get the knife to start a cut. I believe it is mostly due to the design of the tip. If you have any skill in the kitchen with cutting foods you will easily figure out how to properly use this blade. Also, the peeler is more of a novelty and I have only used it with moderate success on carrots.

Always use a wooden or plastic cutting surface. Almost 100% of dulling of blades come from cutting on inappropriate surfaces such as granite, steel, mica; this is true for ALL blades not just ceramic. Check the web for videos showing this. Hand wash this blade, dishwashers will destroy it.

Pros:

+ VERY sharp when cutting mealy foods

+ Lightweight feels plastic but this is how a ceramic blade feels.

+ cleans easily (does not retain any smell from foods (even garlic))

+ price are you kidding me? A ceramic blade for under twenty bucks?

+ slicing and dicing is fantastic its like a razor

Cons:

Cheap cover ( you should use it to protect the blade in the drawer)

not too enthused with the peeler.

Tip needs redesigning

Not sure how you could sharpen it (although if you take care of the blade it should stay sharp a very long time)

Summary:

If you do not own a ceramic blade you should look at this as a fine intro to the class of kitchen utensils. I love mine so much I am buying a full set of pro models for our family for the holidays.

Thank you for reading my review.

I purchased the Yoshi Blade today at a local store and after opening package I went to cut into a lemon and it was like I was using the wrong side of the blade.I then had a few days old green bell pepper and again there was ZERO cutting.I actually thought I had the knife blade inverted but that was not the case.

I then took some $5 paring knives I got from Sams's and had sharpened with the Chef Choice XV and they sliced right through this older lemon and pepper.I tried other knives including a Henkels bread knife, WP Santoku, Chef's Knife and even an old "miracle blade"and they all were able to slice through the lemon and pepper easily.

I have not even tried the peeler as I have a Titan Peeler set that I am well pleased with.

Needless to say, my Yoshi is packed up ready to be returned to the store.I do not plan on exhanging it for another one.

This is one of the biggest rip-off's of the year.I have returned it because it arrived chipped and then using it once, it chipped while cutting a tomato!Yes, a nice soft tomato!!!!I asked for a refund not a replacement.Should know better than to order something that is touted on TV.

Mario Batali By DanskTM "Mario Light" 7" Skillet - Turquoise

Mario Batali By DanskTM 'Mario Light' 7' Skillet - TurquoiseI received this skillet from a friend several months ago and loved it so much I'm buying one for my godmother for Christmas. The skillet is cute as a button and fantastic for small saute jobs. Cooks like cast iron but is non-stick and has that cool blue exterior. Cast iron just got "cool" and "modern". Who'd a thought?

Cuisinart FP2-24BK Frittata 10-Inch Nonstick Set

Cuisinart FP2-24BK Frittata 10-Inch Nonstick SetThis pan was purchased only after a lot of on-line research, reading reviews, and in-store checking of pans. I intended replacing my old flip-over omelette pan with the same model but only found poor quality pans. The Cuisinart Frittata pan set, However, is really excellent quality, and the handles are well designed. The top and bottom pan fit together easily and securely.I wondered if the Cuisinart pan might be a bit heavy, in contrast to my old omelette pan. However, after the first use I decided the weight was just right. I make omelettes containing lots of ingredients and found that everything cooked really well, and uniformly, on medium heat much more so than with the old pan. Clean up was simple. I am completely satisfied and intend cooking more than omelettes and frittatas in the pans and expect them to last for years. It doesn't hurt that I purchased both pans for approximately $40.00, not $70.00.

One curious point, the Cuisinart packaging indicated that there should be two glass covers included which were not.(Prior to purchase I did not see glass covers mentioned on any site).Customer service informed me that covers are not needed, and pans were designed to work without them. I wish they would change their packaging and not mislead customers!

I ve been using this for 6 months.

the purpose for me was to make perfect japanese pancakeOkonomiyaki

so far i m happy with it however there are some tricks for perfect flip.

Pros

well made / strong and none stick

love the handle: doesnt get hot and perfect size for me

easy to clean

the depth of the pan is very usufull for other purposes too.

not too heavy

Cons

before u flip, u have to warm the other side of pan, otherwise it takes forever for the other side pan to sizzle

be sure to turn off ur stove when u flip, the oil from the bottom pan can leak and cause flame when u flip

Emeril by All-Clad E9209964 Hard Anodized Nonstick 12-Inch Fry Pan with Lid Cookware, Black

Emeril by All-Clad E9209964 Hard Anodized Nonstick 12-Inch Fry Pan with Lid Cookware, BlackThe Non-Stick pan is above average, but not as good as the Emeril Stainless steel pan. I figured it would be the same pan with an Anodized/non-stick coating on it, but I was mistaken. It does not heat as evenly around the pan as the stainless steel Emeril pan, nor is it as heavy duty. The non-stick portion is pretty good, but it will scratch VERY easily (just like any non-stick I think). However, it is a decent pan and far better than any generic/disposable pan you would get at Walmarts or Sears. I would say it is about the same quality as a mid-range Calphalon pan. Which is surprising, because this pan is actually made by All-Clad. For he price you can't go wrong. I certainly wouldn't pay over $40 for the pan though. If you are looking to pay more than that, I would recommend a Higher end Calaphalon or All-Clad pan.

In short, you would be hard pressed to find a better non-stick pan for $40 or less. However, you can get better quality if your willing to fork out the bucks. If you don't absolutely have to have non-stick surface, then get the Emeril Stainless steel pan (also around $35/$40). FAR better quality for the same price!!

First one showed up with broken glass lid. Second one arrived a week later.

I have used this about a month, I use it about 3 or 4 times a week.Coating is already showing signs of wear.My old cheapy 12 inch was a full 12 inches at the top edge, the inside was 10 and a quarter inches. This unit immediately curves in to 11 and a half inches where the lid sits, and is only about 8 and a half inches where the food sits. That's a chinzy design for a $40 skillet.I would not buy this again.

I was very excited to order this pan as it came highly recommended from these reviews, and the Emerilware line was highly recommended by a friend who is a professional chef.

So naturally I'm kinda underwhelmed and disappointed that out of the box the nonstick coating was worn down and even scratched along the rim of the pan (looks like damage from the metal lid being on the pot.

Returned that pan for a replacement in hopes that it was just a defect with that individual pan, but indeed I just opened my 2nd pan and although it's not as bad as the first pan, the coating is again worn down in places along the top portions. So if it arrives brand new this way I have no confidence that the coating will last for any reasonable amount of time.Sending this one back and looking at a different brand.

Cuisinart GreenGourmet Eco-Friendly 12-Inch Skillet with Helper HandleAs of this writing, there are 64 reviews for these pans.Unfortunately, Amazon is selling 9 different pans that all share the same reviews.Since so many people have been complaining about what sound like defective pans, I wondered: are some of these 9 different pans defective more often than the other ones? Are some earning the high marks while others often disappoint?

As of this writing, the review totals are:

Since the reviewers usually do not specify which pan they purchased, I tried clicking, "" for each reviewer.Looking through their reviews, you find which pan they actually reviewed! Many just reviewed the GreenGourmet line, but many others reviewed specific pans. You will see greater specificity among the 5-star and 4-star-rating people than you will among the 2-star and 1-star-rating people, which is unfortunate, but I'm willing to draw a lot of conclusion from only a little data. You may choose to do the same or not.

THESE PANS ARE WONDERFUL!I'm a senior and prone to forgetting my food is cooking and burning it.So far, I've done this three times in the same pan and it cleans up like a dream every time -like new.Heavy gauge yet easy enough to lift and to clean.I actually bought these pans to add to the whole Farberware set I also purchased (won't be using the Teflon coated pans that came with it for health reasons and needed two skillets).ALL of the Farberware is so well made and a joy to cook with.Highly recommend them!

Rachael Ray Hard Anodized Nonstick 5-Quart Oval Saute Pan with Glass Lid, Orange

Rachael Ray Hard Anodized Nonstick 5-Quart Oval Saute Pan with Glass Lid, OrangeI have Lupus, and suffer from the growing loss of mobility in all of my limbs. I love to cook, but have struggled to continue using my expensive cookware because it is now too heavy for me to safely manage.

I have agonized over this development and had feared that I would be forced to replace my cookware with really thin (light and cheap) aluminum pots and pans. If so, I knew I would be giving up a lot of cooking flexibility and the quality I had learned to rely on and love.

At least, I thought that until Rachael Ray put out her imaginative cooking line! Not only does this five-quart oval saute cook like a dream, it weighs about half of what my other cookware does, has that great helper handle to lift it and serve the contents, and cleans easier than ANY pan that I own at any price.

As a result, I can continue to do what I love -cooking -despite my illness! When you're disabled, you have to give up a lot of things that had been meaningful in your life, not to mention independence. I applaud ANY product that is disabled-compatible.

In reading the reviews for this great pan, I hadn't noticed anyone raving about its weight. For folks like me, that's a really huge deal.

Thanks, Rach!

The overall quality and performance of this pan is actually pretty good, as long as you don't try to use the parts of the cooking area that are hanging over the edge of the burner.

The design of this pan is flawed from the start -the oval shape makes for extremely uneven heat distribution, which makes for some rather large cold spots at the outer reaches of the pan. With a round pan, all of the edges are an equal distance away from the edge of the burner. With this pan, the narrow part hangs 1/2" over the burner on each side, while the long section of the oval hangs a full 3.5" over on each side. Very poor design.

I also find this pan to be excessively l-o-n-g... whatever area the marketers claim is saved on the stove top from the narrow design is quickly eaten up by the added length. In reality, this pan offers no advantages over a 9" round pan -unless you consider having a 'warming section' in your saute pan to be an advantage.

I bought this pan only because my wife wanted it for Christmas (a year ago). It is the last oval pan I will ever purchase.

Edit: After using this pan for almost two years, I have upped my rating to 3 stars, mainly because I am impressed with the build quality. The non-stick coating is still completely intact -something I was pleasantly surprised with considering the way my Cuisinart Anodized non-stick pan surfaces degraded in a similar time-frame. I would rate the build quality of the Rachel Ray pan very close to that of the Emerilware pan that I own (which is made by All-Clad). I still think the oval shape is a poor design, but I am very pleased with performance if I don't try to use the outer edges.

First, I really like this pan, I use it frequently. Because I use it frequently, I noticed some wear in the middle of the pan. The middle of the pan is discolored and has lost some of it's non-stick ability. I noticed this pan doesn't cook as well on the edges because most of the heat is concentrated to the middle, which would explain the wear and discoloration in the middle. It would also be nice if I could see my food in the pan through the lid, but it is always really fogged up. I'm not sure if that is normal or not so I'm not complaining about that too much. On the other hand, this pan is lightweight and sturdy. The handles stay cool and the grip is great, as well as the helper handle. It cleans up really well. I just hope I won't have to replace it sooner than later due to the wear in the middle. Overall, I am happy with this pan and do believe it to be of good quality, but it could be better designed to distribute more heat to the edges and not wear so much in the middle.

Scanpan Classic 10-1/4-Inch Fry Pan

Scanpan Classic 10-1/4-Inch Fry PanScanpan does everything its advertized to do. Heats and retains heat extremely well. I use the pan for pot stickers and they release just as promised. There is enough hold to get under the food and then pick it up. Irecommend these pans for beginning cooks, but even more for those who do alot of cooking.

I feel smart every time I pull this pan out. There simply isn't a more durable nonstick fry pan than this. I can use metal utensils! Put it in a 500 degree oven! Wash it in the dishwasher! (Which I don't, since it's so easy to clean). It also has a flat, reinforced bottom that completely eliminates wobbliness. Although it's expensive, ScanPan is a lifetime investment, and it makes the flimsy Teflon pans that you have to replace every ten years seem wasteful.

Update: June 2009.

I still love this pan. Folks, you have to use a little oil or butter for it to work properly. And don't set the heat too high, either. This pan heats up fast and holds heat a long time, so use a lower heat setting than you'd use for a cheaper pan.

We were really excited when we bought our Scanpan. We had been buying a new nonstick skillet once a year since forever because no matter how expensive they were they still needed to be replaced about once a year.We were tired of filling up the landfill.Unfortunately, after about 4 months, our Scanpan skillet got sticky. Our morning eggs stuck worse than on our $20.00 cast iron skillet. We had followed all the directions, but still . . .

We sent it back to the company (fortunately, we had saved the box and the receipt) and for a $10.95 shipping fee we got another. It lasted for about 8 months before it got sticky.Yes, we can send the 2nd one back too again, and again, and again. This isn't what we had hoped for when we spent nearly $100.00 on this skillet! The land fill gets fuller and fuller and we're spending as much as year as we did before when we bought the cheap $20.00 pan from Costo.

Yes, it's nice and flat and heats evenly, but that's about all I can say for it.

I've been using the pan almost daily for two months and have no complaints. It needs less oil than even my well seasoned cast iron pans, and nothing sticks. I've made burgers without oil in the pan, and the cleanup was a breeze. Unlike my old Calphalon nonstick, which I hated because most everything stuck, it allows food to carmelize and distributes heat evenly. The stainless bottom plate that sits on the burner does darken and you will need to use a cleanser to keep it shiny. Even if it wears out in a couple of years, I will probably replace it with another Scanpan.

First off, i'm in my mid-twenties(frequent burner) and i learned about these scanpans at a cooking class. The instructor was like "has everyone heard about scanpans? Chefs are going crazy for them because they REALLY don't scratch"

then he let us use the pans with forks and other metal objects without fear. He probably does that 3 times a day, 7 days a week. That sold me. My experience has been exactly the same. I whip eggs, then scramble them with the same fork without worrying about scratching the top coat. Very happy....

Farberware Affiniti Nonstick 12-Piece Cookware Set, Bronze

Farberware Affiniti Nonstick 12-Piece Cookware Set, BronzeWe bought this set a few months ago and we really really enjoy them. The handles have a really good grip on them and also seem like they will never come apart. You know how some cookware just seems like the handles will come off one day? These aren't like that. They feel indestructible. The color is definitely the one of the best parts. They are more reddish than just pain brown. in Fact, when it says bronze, it's pretty close! They have a real nice pearl to them.I highly recommend them!

Two things you need to know about this item. First off and most importantly, these pans are NOT dishwasher safe! the outside has a nice porcelain finish, but it must be washed by hand. Secondly the skillets are 9" and 10.5",NOT 10" and 11" these are not my measurements, it is clearly marked on the outside of the box they are contained in.

Farberware Cookware Glass Replacement Lid

Farberware Cookware Glass Replacement Lid, 12-InchGreetings, (For future customers)

This lid is actually 9 3/8" from inside to inside.Fits well inside a 10" skillet. Is usable, but not satisfactory.

Farberware should be notified.

I purchased the Farberware 12-Inch Glass Lid thinking it would fit my Farberware 12-Inch Deep Skillet.Silly me.It didn't fit.Not even close. It seems that while the curved side of the skillet arcs down to the base directly from the edge, the lid has a lip that is more or less perpendicular to its edge an incompatible state of affairs. After spending a little time audibly pondering the mental capacity and pedigree of whoever at Farberware was responsible for this SNAFU, I "fine-tuned" the lip of the lid with a pair of blunt nose pliers and thumb/forefinger pressure to achieve an acceptable fit.My wife is satisfied so all is well.

Realizing that a lot of Amazon shoppers probably would not take this course of action, I am submitting this review to advise fellow deep skillet lid seekers to look elsewhere for a lid that fits "out of the box" and to remind everyone that sometimes the 12 inches you're looking for is not the 12 inches you get.So be careful out there.

Bialetti 10-Inch Aeternum Easy Saute Pan, Purple

Bialetti 10-Inch Aeternum Easy Saute Pan, PurpleI'm beginning to wonder if non-teflon non-stick pans just have a lifespan of two months. I previously ordered an eco-friendly nonstick pan from Ozetti, and it was awesome for two months and then everything started to stick. I thought this might be because my husband likes to dredge everything in flour before he cooks it, so I bought him a wok and bought myself this purple Bialetti pan and forbade him to use it. For the first two months it was perfection--I cooked eggs, tofu, fish, scallops, pancakes, and everything came out perfectly cooked, didn't stick, and cleanup was a breeze. And then, just at the two-month mark, it started staining and sticking. I have to pour a LOT of oil in now to flip pancakes without having them come apart because they're stuck to the pan.

This skillet is a lot lighter than the one by a different name that I already owned; It really does look like a skillet instead of a saute pan. It has worked out ok so far

Amco Round Egg Rings, Set of 2

Amco Round Egg Rings, Set of 2I am unaware of the coating peeling off or rusting as some of the previous reviewers mentioned.I can only say that since these are not all stainless steel, wash them with a sponge and soapy water and dry them right after.I wouldn't bother using any type of abrasive sponge since you would damage the finish.

If you are having any trouble cooking the egg properly, here are a few tips. Use a non stick pan.You have to coat the ring with butter (as directed in the instructions). Also, put the buttered ring on a pan first and let it heat up, then crack the egg into the ring. After the egg cooks for about 3 minutes, lift the ring up to let the egg fall out. Then flip the egg over to cook the other side.If the egg sticks to the ring while trying to flip, shake the ring a tiny bit and it will fall right out.

Do these work Yes, with practice. Will you be making Egg McMuffins exactly like McDonalds No.The bottom of your egg will be overdone since it takes a while to cook through to the top, the cover I mention below helps with this a little.

I love McDonalds Egg McMuffins, but don't like having to go out for them or pay for them.I figured these would do the trick, and they do, however a bit of trial and error was involved:

1. you need to start with a very flat cooking surface, if there are any gaps between the Egg Ring and the surface, the egg will leak out

2. spray the surface and coat the egg rings with a cooking spray (i.e. Pam)

3. get the surface hot before dropping the egg in, this will help with the egg leakage.Any leakage is easily picked up with a knife and dropped back in the top once it has solidified

4. once the surface is hot I usually turn the burner down to medium and drop the egg in

5. fold the handle of the egg ring down and put a cover over it, a small cooking pot lid works well (this took me a while to figure out)

6. lift the lid after a couple minutes and check the egg. When the top looks semi cooked, run a knife around the inside of the egg ring to separate the egg from it and set the ring aside.Flip the egg over to finish cooking what was the top, this doesn't take long.

I was surprised at how long they take to make between 5 & 10 minutes which includes getting all the ingredients together. The eggs will be a little smaller than a Thomas English Muffin, but it works pretty well.Another trick I use is to use the egg ring to make the cheese slice the same size as the egg.A whole single slice of cheese was a bit too much for me.

I baby all my kitchen utensils and these rings just don't wear well. I used them in a good non-stick skillet with a silicone spatula and only washed with a cloth. The finish was shot after only about a dozen uses. I coated the rings with olive oil before each use and now the eggs have to be pried out before flipping them. The finish on the bottom edge of the rings has peeled away causing a serious sticking situation. They were never used on high heat, but the finish deteriorated pretty rapidly. I am now ordering a set of the silicone rings, we'll see how they do.

These rings are great with the proper cooking technique.I'm a big fan of a sausage, egg and cheese biscuit. The first use had me facing the same problems others have listed. The bottom was overdone and the top ran all over the place when I pulled off the ring. The results have subsequently been perfect with some modifications. Here are the steps that I recommend:

1. Use a non-stick skillet over medium low heat.

2. Spray Pam on the ring and place it in the heated pan.

3. Put a dab of butter in the middle of the ring.

4. Once the butter in melted and begins to foam a bit, place the egg in the ring.

5. After about 30 seconds, pour a few tablespoons of water into the skillet (outside of the ring).

6. Cover immediately with a tight fitting lid or aluminum foil and cook for about four minutes.

7. Check the consistency of the egg. If you prefer over medium/hard, you may need to cover and cook for another minute or two.

8. Remove the ring and serve with a spatula.

The keys are medium low heat, water and lid.Steam is what allows the top of the egg to cook at the same rate as the bottom. This method also works with scrambled egg.

Since I haven't had the rings that long, I can't comment on the durability of the product.Although it states that they are dishwasher safe, I plan on hand washing them after each use.

For you Egg McMuffin or sausage and egg fans this is it. Only 4 1/2 stars though, because it's not perfect. It seems to cook the bottom way before the top get's any way near cooked making it difficult to turn the egg with out it running all over your pan in the process. If the heat is to high the bottom will get brown and crusty and the top will be raw and runny, a lower heat seems to be the answer. You do have to flip the egg over to cook it evenly, But it does basically keep it's shape, which is nice. Maybe I have to get my timing and temperature right to make it perfect. I'm still working on it. The coated rings are heavy enough that the egg won't ooze out of the bottom, assuming your pan in perfectly flat on the bottom. The stainless handle remained cool, I had no need for a pot holder to lift it off the egg. Best to use non stick spray or butter and heat the ring up before putting the egg in. All and all it's a neat easy to clean gadget, that works well. Hey!! for this price you won't go wrong.

UPDATE!!! Using a small egg when cooking one whole, or just filling the ring up half way if scrambled seemed to work well for me. Cooking on med-low heat worked for me also. Don't forget to use non stick spray and heat the ring up, before you put the egg in.
