Norpro Non Stick 4-Egg Poacher

Norpro Non Stick 4-Egg PoacherI purchased two of these pans a couple months ago and used them with great excitement at first.The poacher fits easily in several of my pans and cooks the eggs evenly.As time has gone by, I noticed that the center of both pans began to rust as the center (where the handle connects) is not coated well.Second, the non-stick coating is very sensitive.While I should have followed this rule from the beginning (my fault), you should avoid using metal items to remove the cooked eggs.I used a metal spoon to scoop out an egg, and it chipped away at the coating.I still use the non-scratched pan regularly; I just have to be careful to clean the rusted area.

This fits perfectly in my pan, and I finally can make eggs without having to grapple with a spatula or use disgusting amounts of cooking oil.Good product, speedy delivery.

Works with a number of pots and pans I already own, and it is dishwasher safe.Exactly what I was looking for at a reasonable price.

I had been wanting an egg poacher for a long time and was a little suspect of something with such a low price, but decided to give it a try. I am so glad I did. The handle in the center makes it easy to take it out of the pan when the eggs are done. The eggs slide right out (I use a little cooking spray) and are perfect every time. I'm glad I didn't buy a more expensive product because this one works perfectly at a perfect price. This time I didn't get what I paid for, I got more.

The fact that you need to take the whole piece out of the water once the eggs are ready and it makes it a little more work since it is very unlikely you will make 4 eggs at a time. Other then that I use it a lot and it works great

Kuhn Rikon Duromatic Family Style Pressure Cooker Braiser 5 Quart

Kuhn Rikon Duromatic Family Style Pressure Cooker Braiser 5 Quartwhile this kuhn rikon is certainly pricey compared to other cookers, the quality and elegance is unsurpassed by anything out on the market.i really like the shape of this particular model because it allows me to easily braise and cook whole pork loins or roasts since the opening is flatter and shallower then KR's other models.Kuhn also sells a pyrex glass lid that fits on this cooker so it can be pressed into service as a giant saucepan or skillet, or for bringing food directly to the table in the pot. this cooker is almost always used in our kitchen for meal preparation can't imagine life without it!

Awesome quality and it is not made in China. Great product, expensive but rest assured the last one you will need to buy. Get the lid with this and make a dual purpose item. Again the finish and the quality of this item is awesome. Great solid shiny stainless.

This is one of the best investments I have ever made in a cooking pot. I was reluctant to buy it initially because it is expensive, but I have been using it steadily for ten years now and it's just great. I use it to make Osso Bucco, I braise lamb shanks and make venison stews. I prepare beets with it. It handles pot roasts and briscits very nicely. It significantly shortens cooking time and I find that many dishes that benefit from long cooking with an overnight rest can be be prepared for same day meals.There is a trick.... Since it takes very little time, relatively speaking, to braise something you have time to to let the dish rest for an hour or so to come together. You can then reheat it and you have something that would have required several hours of cooking all done in less than half the time and it gets the benefit of the resting time. If it didn't cost so much, I would have two. It's big enough to make braised shanks or coq au van for a family or a number of quests. The finish is nice enough and the surface area large enough to make a good presentation at the table. I can't find any downside to this cooker.

I purchased the Duromatic Family Style Braiser after reading the many rave reviews of its quality and performance.Having owned a competing brand for many years, I was ready to be impressed by this unit.Unquestionably, it is a beautiful cooking appliance and the engineering and finish are superb.What detracts from my enjoyment, though, is a design detail that no one speaks of: the split handles.First, because of the wide and shallow shape of the bowl, they are unavoidably close to the burner heat source.They become too hot to touch.That's not an insurmountable issue.....after all, that's what potholders are for.But the problem is that these handles are also the means for opening and closing the cooker so they need to be manipulated, not just held.The upper and lower handle elements have to be rotated in different directions, requiring awkward manipulation of searing hot parts.It's a design defect that I revisit each time I use the cooker and I find it a troubling oversight in an otherwise nice piece of engineering.While I appreciate the wide, useable, configuration of this cooker bowl, I would not recommend this configuration short of a thoughtful re-design of its handles or its opening mechanism.

Want Kuhn Rikon Duromatic Family Style Pressure Cooker Braiser 5 Quart Discount?

I bought this as an alternative to my Kuhn Rikon pressure cooker/stock pot for times when I need to braise meats and then cook quickly.As advertised, it does exactly that with very little oil and then finishes the meal very quickly with very little water needed.It's quickly become my go to pot. I think the size is excellent for a quick family meal and for smaller meals as well, because pressure cookers can't be filled to the brim anyway.The only reasons I did not give a 5 star rating is that the 'stay cool' handles get very hot and would be easier to maneuver had one handle been longer.Also the box arrived very beat up from the seller.Fortunately the item was not damaged.I do prefer the newer turn top valve that I have on my 8qt stock pot as it is easier to see from a distance and a breeze to quick release.That however, is a personal preference and not a fault with the item and I still highly recommend this pressure cooker.

Camp Chef Home Seasoned Cast Iron Bread Pan

Camp Chef Home Seasoned Cast Iron Bread PanI have several pieces of cast iron cookware, mostly Lodge brand. But since Lodge doesn't make their loaf pans anymore, I went with this brand. I love cooking with cast iron because it distributes heat evenly and will last you a lifetime with proper care & seasoning. I thought I was making good banana bread in my regular teflon pans until I started using this new cast iron loaf pan. WOW, now my banana bread isn't just good, it's wonderful! Cooked evenly, moist inside with a nice brown outer crust. Just like banana bread should be. For the price it's a steal, because you will have this pan forever. Whereas teflon pans scratch and wear out over time. The only downfall some people have with cast iron is the heavy weight, but I don't have a problem with it. Not only am I cooking, im getting an arm workout at the same time!

I own a LOT of cast iron..in fact, I probably own most of what Lodge has put out including everything from the cast iron hibachi grill to wok, pans, kettles and much (much) more. I LOVE the durability, ease and convenience of cooking and baking with cast iron.

Recently I needed some additional bread pans and since cannot find Lodge brand any longer I purchased 2 from Sante Cabin and 2 from Old Mountain. Old Mountain arrived quickly, well wrapped/packaged and completely treated. Washed and used to encounter bread that dropped effortlessly from the pan without need for barely any prompting. After a few more uses the finish was even better...perfect.

The Sante Cabin cast iron arrived a few days later, washed to prepare for use and pan immediately began to rust. Description indicates "true seasoned" and "ready to use right out of the box" but also denotes "non-seasoned". This pan is NON_SEASONED despite a superficial appearance to the contrary. While seasoning is not a big deal for those experienced with it (and some may prefer their own seasoning to factory treated seasoniing), it is worth mentioning for those that are searching for a TRUE pre-seasoned loaf/bread pan. If so, go with the Old Mountain bread pan instead. There is a shape difference Old Mountain has a rather odd angled shape whereas Sante Cabin provides a more traditional "bread loaf" shape.

I make my own bread for my family and have used many bread pans but this one is the best.I only have one of the cast iron bread pans so when I make more than one loaf I still have to usemy old pans. I have both aluminum -which is terrible and a stainless steel.The loaf in the cast iron has a much higher more even rise.I don't know the physics behind this but I am going to be getting another of these pans.It also has a really nice solid feel and is very easy to clean.Just slather it up with oil (I use extra virgin coconut oil since it has so much saturated fat and doesn't easily go rancid itseasons the pan really well) before I put the bread in and it comes out clean with no mess.If you are looking to invest in a great bread pan that will last a long time, this is the one for you.I am seriously considering a cast iron muffin pan now since this one has been so great.

I asked for some of these pans for Mother's Day and received them. I love them. They really do bake evenly. The bread I have made has turned out wonderfully. On the box they have the Camp Chef label. I also noticed the Sante Cookware company is located in Utah, where I also reside. The phone number is on the literature that is included. I had a few questions and called them. They said that they and Camp Chef are owned by the same parent company. I asked them about the issue that has been raised in a few reviews about their being made in China and the possibility of containing lead. They said that there is strict monitoring of the factory in China and that they constantly test. They affirmed that there is no lead in their products. They ARE pans to enyoy!

Want Camp Chef Home Seasoned Cast Iron Bread Pan Discount?

I purchased 2 pans a year ago. I was not pleased to see that they were made in China but they are heavy and appear to be of good quality. (I have seen many other China cast iron pieces which do not seem to be pure... color off, weight is very light, and have poor heat distribution.)

(See last paragraph!)

Based on my experience with cast iron, I would recommend these pans because they appear to be of pure cast iron, cook very very well and are a breeze to clean up.

I make bread every couple of days and they make such lovely loaves. I have also made non yeast breads and they too are magnificent! I have even tried meat loaf in them and have been so very pleased with the results.

Everything cooks evenly, never sticks (if lightly oiled before use) and has a truly delicious taste.

They are far superior to my glass loaf pans. I am going to replace those with more cast iron.

All of this said, I have decided not to purchase more Sante Cabin pans. The product info says "new pans" which has me suspicious of their quality. I have decided to order pans directly through Lodge of TN. I can purchase them with a phone call to a number of their factory stores. (If the one you call does not ship them, ask who does and get the phone number). They will ship UPS and their cost is comparative.

If you too are concerned about quality (no lead in your pans!) order USA made!

Kalorik 1400-Watt Non-Stick Contact Grill and Panini Maker, Black

Kalorik 1400-Watt Non-Stick Contact Grill and Panini Maker, BlackI ordered this for my husband for Christmas, and let him open it a week or so early.He has used it almost every day since opening it.He just loves it.

When he said he wanted a panini press, I asked him which one (I didn't know much about them), and he said it just needed to meet 3 criteria...

1. Adjustable temperature control.This does, so you can choose what temperature you want to cook at.It also has a green light that comes on when it's up to temperature.

2. A floating lid.That way no matter the size of sandwich, burger, whatever, the lid would lie flat and cook the top nicely as well.

3. Grill plates that were NOT removeable.He had heard stories of heating issues with removeable grill plates, and wanted to avoid that.The plates on this one are NOT removeable, but clean up just fine.

This wasn't the most expensive or the cheapest, it met the criteria.It has a decent heft to it (doesn't feel cheap or flimsy)

Like I said, he loves it.He's gotten a LOT of use out of it already.We highly recommend this panini press.

The only improvement that he would like is an on/off switch... instead of plugging it in and it starting to heat up.BUT that's not a real big issue.

I have had this Grill for a few weeks and love it. It grills and melts cheese wonderfully for Panini's and also grill's meat and veggies very well. Easy to change temperature settings and easy clean up. I love how it drains from the side. It also can be laid flat so you can use both parts to cook and you then just have to flip your food. This way if you are Grilling for several people everyone's food can be done at the same time.

Like I said I have had it for a few weeks, used it several times and so far I am very impressed.

I don't usually write reviews, but since there are so few for this product...The Pros: 1) It easily fits three medium sized sandwiches.2) It cools down very quickly which makes cleaning and putting away the product quick and easy. 3) It comes with a handy cleaning tool. 4) It has temperature control and it can lay flat for more grilling surface. 5) It seems to heat very evenly and I have had no issues with the outside of my sandwich being more cooked than the inside.My sandwiches have been perfectly cooked every time.6) The lid seems heavy enough that after applying a little pressure at first, it can continue pressing the sandwich.Based on all of the Pros, I would have given this a 5 Start rating, but the few cons brought it down to a 4 star...The Cons 1) It doesn't get very hot.I have had to use this at MAX temp each time when making sandwiches.The sandwiches come out perfectly, so it's not been a big problem for me, but if you want to use it as an open grill (which I don't) I don't know if even the max temp would be enough to get your food cooked.2) This is minor, I know, but there's no place to wrap the cord that I've found, so it just hangs there when you put it up.3) I find that I have to give the hinged handle a little help sometimes depending on the size and placement of the sandwich in order for it to come down evenly.4) This doesn't bother me, but there's no on/off switch.

Overall, for what I need it to do it does it great.If you want perfectly cooked paninis this will do it. If you want to sear food or use it as an open grill I'd look at something else.

I read reviews before I purchased and many of the concerns other reviewers had weren't issues for me. It gets plenty hot. I don't mind that it doesn't have an on/off switch since I don't leave mine plugged in.The price was good.The surface wiped clean easily (initially anyway).

We have had the grill for 10 months and use it nearly every day.We use it more to cook meat than for sandwiches.I like to cook sausage and bacon on it because it doesn't splatter and create a mess.The "floating" lid makes cooking burgers and chicken breasts easier since it doesn't smash them and contacts evenly. It has some major (in my opinion) drawbacks if the meat produces drippings.There is not near enough angle even with the little feet flipped to encourage good drainage.We ended up raising the back nearly 1/4 in. by adding two layers of cardboard under the back feet. We put one layer under the right side to help.The drain channels aren't really deep enough across the front so even with the back and side raised any crusty bits need to be scraped out or they will stop up the channel. I have never tried to use it open because of this.When you lift the lid, any juice or grease on it simply runs onto the cabinet. The Hamilton Beach we had before had a floating hinge but the lid would hang so the runoff fell on the grill. In the last week, food has started sticking because the non-stick coating is starting to flake off.

If you are looking for a grill for sandwiches and occassional meat this would work fine.If like us you use it daily and mainly for meat I would choose another brand.

KittAmor Roma Stainless Cookware Set

KittAmor Roma Stainless Cookware Set, 10-PieceI bought this product from Overstock for a good price, though I didn't know the brand until it shipped to me. It is lightweight, and the handles look a little cheap.From what I've heard, you never want to drop these.And definately don't put them in the oven. But overall I think it is a good value, with good sizes.I bought these as my starter cookware set.

We use this set all the time.I ordered it when I moved into my first place and it is very useful and a great value!

Rachael Ray Hard Anodized II Nonstick Dishwasher Safe 10-Piece Cookware Set, Orange

Rachael Ray Hard Anodized II Nonstick Dishwasher Safe 10-Piece Cookware Set, Orange ()This is my first experience with Rachael Ray cookware.When I removed the cookware from the set, I first noticed how light weight it was.I then noticed the attractive orange handles and the beautiful clear lids.It's not high end cookware, but it would be welcome in many or most homes.

I used the skillet to saute tofu and it browned nicely even at a medium heat level.I didn't use any oil in the pan and just let the tofu do its thing.I have also sauteed vegetables using just a touch of water without added oil and it also worked out beautifully.

I heated some almond milk for chai and forgot about it.That could have resulted in quite a mess with some other types of cookware, but it cleaned up quickly and still looked brand new.

What I liked:

* The design is very modern and attractive.

* The glass lids have a sturdy rim that is designed so food will not be easily trapped

* The orange handles are non-slip and easy to grip, and they keep very cool while cooking

* The small size pots are very handy, and the 6 quart stock pot is a nice small-size stockpot that I'm finding a much better size for my use.

* Cleanup was super easy

What I didn't like:

* The pots seem to be about half the thickness of most of my other pots and pans.While I don't think they would dent easily if dropped, they don't have a sturdy, well made feel to them.

* When compared to my Calphalon, they also do not have the same quality hard anodized finish on the outside.

* The nonstick coating doesn't feel as high quality as other brands. So far, so good though!

* The pans do not have a thick bottom, and seem to heat unevenly.My food scorched quickly, so cooking time and technique will vary from my other cookware.

I think this would make a great starter set for someone just starting out on their own.Despite the few flaws (IMO) that I noted above, I am enjoying using this cookware and cooking just became a little more fun!

()WHAT IS IN THE SET

1Qt Saucepan Plus a Tempered Glass Lid

2Qt Saucepan Plus a Tempered Glass Lid

3Qt Sauté pan Plus a Tempered Glass Lid (The lid for this pan also fits the 10 inch Skillet)

6Qt Stockpot Plus a Tempered Glass Lid

8.5-Inch Skillet

10-Inch Skillet

All these items are made from anodized aluminum, with non-stick inner surfaces (discussed later) and have rubber handles.

WHAT I LIKED

This is a very attractive set, with a lot of attractive features.The orange handles go well with the black anodized surfaces and the black non-stick coatings.The handles are riveted on and appear to be quite well attached, and there is a lifetime warrantee if the handles loosen.There are metallic insert holes in the handles so the pans can be hung up and these metallic areas and metallic rivets and non-coated areas of the handles make a nice contrast with the other parts of the pots and pans. The tempered glass lids appear to be thick enough to resist easy fracturing and should hold in some steam when in use. Being made of aluminum these pots and pans are lightweight and have good thermal properties (they heat up more rapidly and have a better heat distribution than stainless steel).The handles are comfortable.So far the non-stick coating is doing its job and shows no signs of wear, but with any non-stick coating there is always a question of the durability of the coating.It will take some time to fully evaluate this and I plan to update this review when the pots and pans have been in service longer.

CAVEATS

Based just on the above listed features I would give this set five-stars, but there are some caveats that have caused me to only be able to give it four-stars.

The instruction booklet is very brief (actually only a single folded page) and covers many different sets, with do way of identifying which description goes with which set.This is important with regards to the non-stick coating.The booklet describes PTFE (Teflon type material), but does not specifically state which sets are lined with this material.At least one reviewer was under the impression that the "non-stick" appellation used with this set was referring to the anodized coating, but I believe that this is in error.The exterior of the pots and pans are anodized black, on a smooth aluminum surface.The interior is also black, but a bit darker and rough, typical of PTFE coatings.Thus, I believe that the interior is PTFE.If this is incorrect I hope that the manufacturer will correct this impression via the comment section and I will correct this review appropriately.This is very important because if the pans are PTFE they cannot be used under a broiler, as the coating will degrade releasing very harmful vapors.This is a somewhat moot point because the rubber handles also prevent the use of these pans under a broiler.The PTFE coating will also release harmful vapors if the pans are heated without liquid in them or if the liquid is allowed to evaporate and the pans allowed to overheat.Whether or not the pots and pans are PTFE lined is also important because some people prefer not to cook with this material.

The handles are rubber coated, limiting their use in an oven to only 350F.If they were made of silicone then a slightly higher use temperature (400F) would be possible.

The 3Qt Sauté pan does not have a small handle in addition to the primary one.I went to the trouble to look at a number of other sets and find that 4 and 5Qt pans generally have such handles and so do stainless steel 3Qt pans, but 3Qt aluminum pans generally do not.The lack of an auxiliary handle is thus typical, but I still find the lack of such a handle to be somewhat limiting.Three quarts of water weighs six pounds, so a full pan would weigh more than this (because of the weight of the pan and even more if the lid were used).I tried this and found that a full pan was too unwieldy to use without the extra handle.Fortunately, in making sauces one would generally not fill up the pan, but the point is that it is unsafe to try to move the pan from the stove if it is filled with too much liquid.

There is no pouring spout on any of the pots.We have pots that have spouts and we find this to be a useful feature, which I would have liked these pots to have had.

These caveats may not concern you and if so please disregard them and consider the set as rating 5-stars.

()I would like to start this review by acknowledging the fact that I do have fairly expensive tastes when it comes to cookware and favor heavy cooper or stainless steel pots and pans, mostly those made in France.However, since my passion for cooking (and kitchenware) is well known to my friends and family I am often called upon to offer suggestions to others seeking their first set of "grown-up" cookware.When I got the chance to try out this Rachael Ray set I was excited and overall, I have been pleased with it.

The Rachael Ray 10 piece set is very attractive with it's stylish lines and colorful handles.It's hard anodized nonstick surface is far more advanced than those that I used when I was younger that had the tendency to scratch, chip, or peel off.Still, I would not recommend using metal utensils with any nonstick cookware.Except for the two skillets each piece came with a well fitting see-through lid and one of them will fit the larger skillet as well.The 8" omelet pan is a favorite size for me and I use it for everything from a simple grilled cheese sammie to a quick sauce.The assortment should fit most small family's needs except for maybe the absence of a roasting pan with a rack.

My only complaint is that they feel fairly light and thin to me.When I sauteed or did a stir fry in the Rachael Ray pans I had to be careful to not burn the ingredients.I had a similar issue when cooking stews in the larger pots.However, when I used less heat than I am used to they worked well, it just took a little longer to finish the dish.As far as value goes, I have to be honest and say that a smart shopper could do better.I am fortunate to live near an outlet mall that has a Calphalon store as well as some other well known brand kitchenware stores.I have found sets with a similar assortment of pots and pans that were heavier and better built for about the same price.However, I would still recommend this set to someone who needs an easily available starter set as they are worth the money and should last quite a while.

I'm not a chef and I can't give you a detailed breakdown of the nuanced differences between various pans. All's I know is, I've owned lots of cookware sets over the years from all different price ranges, and these pans are worth their price and then some. Our set has been in full-time service for 6 months now and they still look and work great. We always put them in the dishwasher, because we're spoiled Americans and because Rachael Ray said we could. The clear lids are nice and they're a fun color. I'm sure one of the cookware scholars on here could educate me as to why aluminum is no good or why I shouldn't put them in the dishwasher; but you know what? I can make my famous grilled cheese or scrambled eggs in these pans, chuck them in the washer, pull them out the next day and do it again, and they never complain or give me attitude. That's a win in my book. Minus one star because Rachael Ray is an alien automaton from beyond the moon sent to take over Earth with unholy amounts of perkiness... Just kidding, I'm sure she's a lovely woman. (Please Ms. Ray, don't send your alien overlords to my house to abduct me).

()I picked these pans years ago because of my desire to cook and store my foods in the most healthy way. With all the bad press surrounding the dangers of non-stick pans...I went in search of a healthy alternative to how I cooked in the pan. I have been nothing but elated at how wonderful all of these pans are. Not only do I have the peace of mind that they are safe for my kids food to be cooked in---but they have lasted long with no wear or tear. The sizes included are also perfect. You have several deep and wide pans which are perfect for cooking for a large family or when company comes over. I hand wash mine [as suggested], but it's not too much trouble as I know it's the safest way to keep my pans lasting the longest.

Incase you aren't familiar, Cast iron pans tend to make quite a mess as most of your stuff sticks to them. However, stainless steel, rarely---is truly stainless. I have been known to stain up a few stainless steel pans. Teflon is a toss up, you are hit or miss with accidentally scraping some of the metal into your food. Just not worth the risk to me. Hard Anodization has some relation to creating a nonstick coating, but it is used primarily to create a nonreactive cooking surface. Anodization is a process by which metal (usually aluminum in cookware) is treated to make it nonreactive and reduce corrosion. Nonreactivity is important, as many foods can have negative chemical reactions when they come into contact with certain metals in cookware. If the pan says non-stick, it likely has Teflon or a related coating to protect the cooking surface and anodized metal elsewhere in the body of the pot or pan. I chose Anodizatied pans because I feel they are made of the most safe material to date to cook with.

These are the pans you want, I promise, I trust my family with them.

Westinghouse SA40130 Searing Grill and Griddle, Stainless Steel

Westinghouse SA40130 Searing Grill and Griddle, Stainless SteelAre you frustrated with the lower quality of Foreman's grills (which used to be good but not anymore)?

Are you frustrated with the lack of features in Foreman's grills?

After looking for a long time, I came across this unit:

* Timer with auto shut-down

* Temperature control

* Easy to clean, removable, interchangeable, reversible, plates with *internal* heating system

* 180° degrees openning

* Adjustable height (but not much)

* 2 dripping trays

* 1 sauce tray

* Safe cold-handle

* Excellent quality

So, is there anything wrong with it? Well, the only thing that it may bug you is that it's not tilted (so grease will not drip in the same way as in tilted ones).

This item was purchased late February, 2012.On April 17, 2012 a defect in design made it impossible to remove the upper plate to clean and reverse to the smooth griddle side.One of the screws had loosened and it could not be reinstalled.Calls to Westinghouse for assistance with defect were never returned.

4-21-12

Two calls to Westinghouse (SAI) on 4/16/12 and 4/19/12 have still not been returned. Zero customer service by Westinghouse.Buyer Beware.

4-23-12

Amazon replaced the defective griddle.Kudos to Amazon for standing by the customer by honoring the warranty.

4-26-12

Another call to SAI Home Products today.I wanted them to be aware that someone still has not called me back.The person I spoke with could have cared less about my problem.He was very rude.

In addition, I thought it important that the Amazon vendor, Wholesale A.V. should be aware that getting warranty service for products they sell is nearly impossible.To my surprise I called their contact number listed on the website and twice I did not get any answer.

Pretty sad that the company that manufacturers the product and the Amazon Storefront that sells the product could not be contacted.

Thank You Amazon!!!

Five Stars for Amazon Customer Service!!!
