Cuisinart GW22-30H Greenware Aluminum Eco-Friendly Nonstick 12-Inch Skillet with Helper Handle

Cuisinart GW22-30H Greenware Aluminum Eco-Friendly Nonstick 12-Inch Skillet with Helper HandleI used the 12" Cuisinart Greenware skillet (GW22-30H) for approximately 6 months with reasonable satisfaction. The coating was not as "nonstick" as other pans that I have used, as it was not easy to get eggs to slide around on the surface even upon the very first use. Liberal use of cooking spray, butter, or oil is required with this pan. However, this is not what warranted the single-star rating.

After 6 months of cooking with it over a gas range, the pan was still pristine,* and I moved to a new apartment with an electric-coil-type stove. I added water to the pan (~1"), turned on the heat, and added 5 sausage links. After cooking (at a low boil) and cleaning the pan, a circle was clearly visible where the nonstick coating had been completely destroyed/removed -the circle corresponding to the location of the electric coil underneath. In addition, discoloring in the locations where the 5 sausage links had cooked were also visible. This baffled me, because the water and meat should have absorbed the heat of the pan rapidly enough to prevent damage to the surface.

Prior to this incident, drying the pan was a cinch; the water simply beaded up and slid off of the nonstick surface with ease. Now, the water "wets" the surface inside the damaged circular region, and beads up outside of it where the nonstick coating remains intact.

The skillet is now completely useless. Worst of all, I probably ingested a great deal of the plastic coating. I am currently awaiting a response to see if I can get in-store credit for this $80 skillet. I would not want a free replacement.

* The pan had only ever been hand-washed with a soft sponge (never scrubbed), it was never heated without food on it to absorb the heat, and to my knowledge no metal has ever contacted the nonstick surface, even in the sink or drying rack.

I recently purchased this pan as a replacement for a heavier version of the same pan I owned and loved (which a guest used a scouring pad on and ruined). I have used it a month, and the pan's bottom has warped badly. I do not use it on high heat -a notch above medium is as hot as it gets. Still it is so warped now that it rocks on the stovetop, and therefore does not cook food evenly.

so we've been experimenting with stir fry at home and have uses this skillet with ease. a little easoning with sauted onions and lots of portobello mushrooms with chicken breasts come out great. the skillet heats pretty evenly and the helper handle comes in handy. it also feels good to buy cuisinart greenware products as we do make a lot of effort at home to be as green as possible.

The no-stick surface seems to be wearing nicely. I only use wooden or silicon utensil with it. However, the pan warped after the first use on higher heat. On a gas range this is no big deal, but on a ceramic or other electric range, it makes the pan perform poorly since heat transfer is no good.

I've had this for maybe a couple of months, and so far, i totally love it. I use it almost every day. My mom has had one for awhile, she loves hers and told me to get one. Nothing sticks so far. I am being very careful with it and washing it carefully and not scrubbing or anything. I am treating it gentle and keeping it clean. I have to remember to turn the burner down. I think that's important. My electric stove is crap (very disappointing for a Kenmore), and I have to always turn it on high at first or it will never heat up. then I turn it down. I have cooked eggs, hamburgers, salmon patties, mass quantities of veggie stir fry and fried rice, sauteed chicken tenders, tilapia, delicious fried onions, french toast, grilled cheese, and matzo brei. I didn't get a lid for it. I use a cookie pan for a lid. works fine. I like it ALOT. so far so good.

OXO Good Grips Chop and Pour Cutting Board

OXO Good Grips Chop and Pour Cutting Board ()OXO Good Grips nifty Chop and Pour board is a handy little board to have around the kitchen.I didn't think that the curved sides and corner "spout" would make much of a difference (I actually thought that the raised sides might get in the way) but they really are great features!Only two sides of the board have a curved lip to keep food from sliding off the other two sides have non-slip edges to keep the board from sliding around on your counter while you are working. The curved edges are a big help when you are trying to push chopped veggies (or whatever) off the board into a pan (or whatever) everything goes where it should. The 13.5" x 10.5" size is good for most kitchen jobs, and it fits easily in the dishwasher (it says "top rack only" on the instructions, but I've been putting it on the bottom of my Miele dishwasher with no problems or damage).I'll definitely get more of these!

()If I had seen this cutting board in person, I would not have chosen this specific board. It is just too small for the types of jobs I expect from a cutting board. That doesn't mean the board is bad, just that I need a larger board.

I had seen a segment of America's Test Kitchen on television and an OXO Good Grips board similar to this one had been the winner of their cutting board comparison test between wood, glass, and non-porous boards. The OXO won because of the material on the edges which made it non-slip on the counter top, ease of cleanup and resistance to odor retention. Those are all things important to me also. For this specific board, the dimensions provided by the manufacturer show it to be 13.5" wide x 10.5" deep.In actuality you have to take away one full inch from each of those measurements to allow for the "walls" on two sides which keep food from falling off the board and for the narrow non-slip edges on two sides.

The board was very stable on my counter top (engineered quartz) and did not slip around at all.Because there is something on each of the edges I was forced to do all my cutting and chopping in one specific area of the board, therefore all the knife marks are in that one area and I think will become a problem as I use the product for an extended length of time.As a matter of fact, I wonder if I will feel comfortable using this board for very long because those knife grooves will just get deeper and more numerous. If you are only going to cut up a very few items, perhaps this board will be adequate for you.I found it to be simply too small.I wanted to cut two onions, two green peppers, several cloves of garlic, and several smoked sausage links.I could only do half that amount at one time; two onions, the garlic, and one pepper, then the second pepper and the sausage. All my other cutting boards would have accommodated the full amounts easily. And there are other OXO cutting boards which would have easily held all that prepped food, they just would not have the "contain" and "pour" features.

So this board comes down to how much food you like to prep at one time and how you want to convey that food to the cooking pan.The good things for me were the non-slip feature and that I could push the chopped food up all the way to the edges of the board but keep it contained on the board. The disadvantages were the small cutting surface and the concentration of knife marks all located in one place on the board.I like that I can put this board in my dishwasher, top rack only, and will certainly do that.Maybe just make sure I take the board out before the diswasher goes into the heated drying cycle.I don't want to take a chance with that rubber-like non-slip edge being damaged by heat.

()There's a debate over whether plastic or wooden cutting boards are safer, bacteria-wise.If you've decided on the plastic side, this looks like a good board.

Easy to manipulate has a nice feel and there's two "grippy" sides. The shape works it IS easy to dump chopped up stuff into the pot.

I hacked it a few times with a big knife. That left tiny TINY marks in the board.Looks normal enough for this kind of board.Almost invisible and shouldn't be hard to clean. *** update 3/15/2013 *** Be CAREFUL when you slice!I sliced toast with a serrated blade and it gouged the heck out of the surface. The board is still useable and still cleans well enough but it would be a mess if enough of those gouges built up.Slice only with a plain blade.

The product info says "Juice grooves on one side retain liquids ...".I've got no idea what they're talking about!I put some water on the board and there's nothing that's going to keep it from pouring off a corner. Two of the sides have raised edges but any liquid that makes it that far will keep going until it makes it to an open corner.

The non-slip bottom is VERY non-slip.

Two of the edges have grabby plastic. It's molded very well into the polypropylene board but you can feel the gap.Keep it clean for that's a prime spot for bacterial growth.

Speaking of clean, polypropylene is not anti-bacterial but it does not promote their growth either. It doesn't absorb water and is easy to dry off.It can take high heat (over 300f) so feel free to dump boiling water on it.5% bleach would be a good idea after cutting meat!

()This cutting board weighs a bit over a pound.I was really intrigued because while I normally just use flat clear flexible cutting mats instead of cutting boards, I always am looking for a good board to use when I can tons of tomatoes every year. The fact that this let you pour and had a lip was really intriguing to me.While it will be better for my problematic task than the clear mats, it's still not a perfect design as juice will still run all off the sides and front.Of course I can understand this it makes it a lot easier to cut if there and pick up.

Works great for vegetables like onions, peppers, celery the usual, and normal amounts of tomatoes. It's a bit heavy when you pick it upit shouldn't be an issue for most people but very elderly people or people with strength issues might prefer something lighter like the flat mats.I notice this because I'm recovering from a torn rotator cuff and movements with a pound like this would have been hard for me when that was an issue.

It does mark up easily (like most boards do!) so expect to see slice marks soon after you get it.It's dishwasher safe and fits in the dishwasher easily.

I'm always bad to use my cutting board on the stove. I know you shouldn't do that, but I do catch myself doing it anyway. This board is tall enough to give you generous cutting room, but I'm going to have to watch the end for a hot eyeI won't be able to just trim this like I can flexible mats.

Where it's better than flexible mats is it's easier to wash in the dishwasher, it's got a great grip and is easy to pick up, and I do like the lips on the side and top. It's much more hygenic than a wood board, and since it has GREEN on the grips, it will be easy to remember it's for veggies only.(Since I don't like to use my veggie boards for meats.)

()When I saw this chop and pour board, I thought it would be an ideal addition to my kitchen utensils.

The first time it was used was to chop mushrooms for a pasta meal.

Some of the features that I appreciate and found useful:

-the corner spout helps guide foot into pots and pans

-lightweight for moving food to pan or board

-the non-slip edges keep the Board from slipping

-soft, tapered grip makes lifting easy

-able to clean in the dishwasher since it is top-rack dishwasher safe.

The Board is a good size but not too big, at 13.5 long by 10.5 down.

I'm very happy with this product. I did try the bottom-rack of the dishwasher and it was fine.

Universal Housewares Pre-Seasoned Cast Iron 3 Piece Skillet Set

Universal Housewares Pre-Seasoned Cast Iron 3 Piece Skillet SetThese are great for a single person but would be a waste for a family. I have to get use to these again. My son cooked bacon in one and it was sticking really bad. I know there are tricks to using cast iron, so I'll start doing some research to get back in the old groove. I love cast iron and these smaller pans are good for just me. If you are planning to purchase these, please note they are all really small. The little one would fry one egg, the middle one would do pancakes or tortillas and the largest one is good for bacon or a couple of pork chops. That should give you an idea of how big they are. Hope this helps.

I got these yesterday, and they were what I expected-really small, kinda small and medium. I'm not sure why others have complained about the sizes when they're stated clearly, but you need smaller pans for various reasons and these fit the bill. After rinsing, I used the middle one to saute some ham and cheeses for sandwiches as a testI mean, what doesn't ham stick to? But the pan worked perfectly, nothing stuck, and cleanup was easy with water and a brush.

So these are smaller utensils for special purposes, and from what i've seen are well done. I expect I'll use them for quite a few years, and if cooking doesn't become a thing of the past, my grandkids will still be using them long after. Iron tools are great in general and these are a good addition to my kitchen.

[Two weeks later] Having used these several times, now, I'm still satisfied with the purchase. The seasoning on one turned out to be a little thin and let some of the metal show through on the high spots, but it's not a big deal and hasn't affected the performance of the pan. I've been very pleased with how easy they are to clean, and they're so much better than lighter pans for sauteing and searing-I use an electric range, and the extra mass of these pans stores enough energy that the temperatures are much better controlled, and cooking is a lot more fun as a result. I'd make the purchase again without reservation.

These are very basic skillets. No fancy handles, just simple pre-seasoned skillets.I bought one other cheap skillet (Stansport Cast Iron 8 Inch Fry Pan) that I returned because it was actually crappy. I didn't know that was possible; skillets are so simple.

The sizes on these are good too. I use the small one for small ingredient prep before adding it to soup, the medium one for frying toast, and the large one for small dishes. I also own a 12" which is the size I use the most so I bought it years ago.

Cuisinart TPC33-28H MultiClad Pro Stainless 5-1/2-Quart Saute Pan with Helper Handle & Lid

Cuisinart TPC33-28H MultiClad Pro Stainless 5-1/2-Quart Saute Pan with Helper Handle & LidThis is a great pan. It seems to be built to a higher standard than All Clad, and has a higher polish (both inside and out). My later pans are copper clad tri ply (Cuisinart makes the best by far), but this pan looks and performs so well that I can't bring myself to replace it. It is a work of art. Period. If you prefer the stainless exterior for asthetic reasons, this is the best 5.5 Qt Saute pan that you can buy.

It heats evenly, works with all utensils, cleans up in minutes, and shouts "quality" from every angle. It also takes high heat in stride, and doesn't suffer from hot spots. As the instructions say, you can usually use less heat for the same cooking effect, but if you need to turn it up for a particular dish, the pot will perform. It also works great in the oven (at any heat). Anyone who had a bad time cooking with this pan probably had a bad day in the first place.

I have quite a few Cuisinart MultiClad pieces including this one. They have all performed extremely well during many different cooking tasks. The tri-clad design enables food to cook much more quickly and evenly, the stainless steel cleans easily, the pots and pans are well-constructed (which means they are heavy) and they're attractive.Another fantastic feature is the ability to go from cooktop to oven because of the all-metal design.MultiClad pieces are not something that I have recently purchased; rather, I have been using them for a number of years and still love them as much now as I did when I first bought them. You will not regret purchasing MultiClad anything!

I got this pan a few years ago to complement my set of All-Clad pans, and I can't tell the difference between the brands, even though the price on this was much lower. It's a good size for big jobs, like searing big pieces of meat or frying a lot of breaded chicken breast or pork cutlets all at once. I can fit 2 bags of spinach in it at one time to sautee them. Also, because I have a flat-top stove and can't easily use a wok, I use this for stir-fry and it's fine.

The lid fits great, and I love the grip handle on the opposite side of the long handle. It's quite heavy, though it might not be good for those with physical limitations or weak arm/shoulder muscles. And if you're not careful, the bottom can get pretty hot and the food gets stuck, making it tough to clean unless you soak it a while. But I have the same issue with All-Clad, since it's not non-stick. Overall, a terrific value -just as good as All-Clad without the high price. I wish I'd bought a whole set before spending the money on All-Clad.

I purchased this pan and waited anxiously for it to arrive.I now regret it.I burn things in the pan everytime I use it.I find it to be a difficult pan to use and difficult to clean up.The instructions say never to use it on high heat, so I don't.But even on medium and low heat, the pan performs poorly.I have since bought an 8 quart saute pan from Calphalon and have never had a problem with it.This Cuisinart pan was more expensive and is a very disappointing product.

Berndes 9-1/2-Inch Crepe Pan

Berndes 9-1/2-Inch Crepe PanI make crepes regularly for guests and purchased this crepe pan several months ago.Previously, I was using an inexpensive (non-crepe) pan with fair results.I wanted a pan that would heat more evenly and quickly than my existing pan.

The Berndes pan produces a perfect, lacy crepe that is consistent in size and texture. The shape of the pan makes it easy to handle the crepe at all stages.I have not had any issues with the non-stick surface.Though I use the pan regularly, I do admit there is very little contact with anything that may damage the surface.A silicone spatula loosens the crepe much better than a wood or plastic utensil.

All in all, I am very satisfied with the Berndes crepe pan.If I ever buy another crepe pan, it will probably be this one.

I have had this pan for four years, and it is completely pitted and the nonstick coating is peeling off.It has never seen a metal utensil -we only have plastic and wood utensils, so I guess the nonstick coating was either put on badly or not enough was applied at the factory.I'm kind of grossed out to think how much Teflon we ingested before I noticed the pitting.I would not buy this pan again.

I own 3 of these pans. Before I found the Berndes pan, I tried every crepe pan I could find including a $200 copper pan and Calphalon. The Berndes crepe pan out crepes them all! I haven't noticed any wear or tear on any of the pans an they are used quite often. I make crepes at least once a week and have started using the pans for omelets as well. No complaints what-so-ever, only fantastic rave reviews for a quality product that produces lovely crepes. I would highly recommend the Berndes crepe pans.

This is the best pan I own.My others are all Calphalon, which I am learning to hate. The heat distribution is fabulous. It would take me twice as long to cook something in my other pans.I use the pan for everything. My only complaint is that the handle has become a bit wobbly.I've had the pan for 4 years.

Want Berndes 9-1/2-Inch Crepe Pan Discount?

I have had this pan about 2 weeks.Absolutely fabulous.Much better than the Calphalon that I just put into the trash. The entire pan except handle is made from a single piece of spun aluminum for excellent heat distribution. The bottom surface unlike many other pans is ABSOLUTELY flat. The bottom has a raw shiny aluminum surface that looks beautiful hanging from your pot rack. The bottom also has engraved fine concentric circles for even more efficient heat conduction. The sides of the pan are about 1" tall and are sloped straight up providing more bottom surface area to cook on.The entire interior is coated with what appears to be one of the better grades of non-stick surface.I test non-stick surfaces by scraping them with my finger nails in the store. This one didn't budge. The handle is plastic, but large and easy to grasp. The exterior sides (not bottom) of the pan appear to have a dark black anodized color which is great for hiding any stains which eventually accumulate.I have made pancakes, fried eggs, and omelettes in this pan and it does a superb job.Extremely even heat distribution edge to edge, more efficient heat transfer as I have had to turn down the heat below where I used to keep it to cook on the stainless steel with aluminum disk calphalon.Non stick surface works so well, I don't even have to wash this pan. After cooking, let it cool a bit and just wipe it off with a papertowel. This also helps to promote "seasoning" of the non-stick surface and keep its non-stick properties at peak performance.I like the looks of this pan hanging from the potrack BETTER than copper, with its brilliant shiny bottom contrasting against jet black sides and dark non-stick interior with black handle.Made in Germany just like outstanding Miele vacuum cleaners!Ooh and the pan is relatively light weight because it is made of aluminum and plastic!Great overall!

Cuisinox Electra Induction 11 Inch Non-stick Crepe pan

Cuisinox Electra Induction 11 Inch Non-stick Crepe panI like this pan in that it is very easy to make crapes because no sides.Just trying to move the batter around by rotating the pan does not work well. You have to usethe wood T-Shaped Crape Spreader too.It works on an induction element so that is why I purchased it.What I don't like about it is that it is very slippery on the element and hard to hold and turn the crape at the same time. It's going to take practice I can see. It's a nice size.I also use it for heating up tortillas or making melted cheese sandwiches. It works well as a grill.

The most annoying thing about this pan is that the diameter of the surface that contacts the stove is only about 9" so that the outer 1" ring of the cooking surface does not get as hot as the center of the pan. Is that what a "Crepe Pan" is supposed to do? If so I got the wrong pan. I bought it as my one teflon coated pan to use on my induction cook top so I could make eggs and a pancakes thinking it would act like a griddle.

The teflon scratched almost the first day and I don't remember any reason why it should have, although it hasn't scratched any more over the next ten or so times I've used it.

Farberware Millennium Colors 12-Piece Non-Stick Cookware Set

Farberware Millennium Nonstick Aluminum 12-Piece Cookware Set, BronzeI purchased this set after ordering another set that I was not happy with and had to send back. These are great!I love the color! It is a darker red, kind of like maroon.I did not know when I ordered these that they are the same color as my kitchen chairs.Bonus! They look great hanging on my pot rack!

They say that they are metal safe, but I don't think that I would use metal in these. You can kind of see where the plastic untensils have been used, small indentations, which I think that you would be able to see on any nonstick cookware, but nothing down to the metal.

They are hand wash only and that is fine with me, I want to keep them looking new.The silicone handles are nice and the weight of the pans are easy to pick up with one hand and place in the sink. So far I am very pleased with these pans.

I purchased the Farberwear Millennium cook set because of previous experience with individual Millennium fry pans I had purchsed in the past that were heavy alluminum non stick pans. These new cook set pans are nowhere near as heavy as the old ones, and that was a disappointment. But the are very good to cook with.Non stick is excellent.Cleanup is excellent. If treated well they should be good pans for several years.Be very careful about overheating if you use a glass top "pulse" heating stove.Yes, I would recommend them.I purchased from Amazon because of the good price and free shipping. But I wish they were heavier!

They are hand wash only.

The interior is teflon coated. It is very slick and smooth inside which makes it super easy for your food to come off as well as to clean afterwards. You do not use cooking spray with these pans.

The outside appears more durable than other exteriors in this product category.

The bronze color is a mid to dark brown metallic (visualize mixing milk and dark chocolate together and that is the darkness of the brown color).

I've been wanting a new set of pots and was determined to make sure that anyone that uses these does not use metal utensils on the teflon/nonstick surface! When I finally got them I read the instructions and sternly told my husband never to use a metal spoon or fork and that we don't even need to use Pam cooking spray because it'll ruin the nonstick surface. He had a hard time swallowing that until I showed him the instructions in black and white.A couple of days later I decided to fry a couple eggs for breakfast sans the cooking spray.Well, the eggs stuck so badly to the nonstick surface that I had to throw them right in the garbage when I couldn't even lift them up with my plastic spatula without breaking the yolks. The pots look nice, but nonstick? NOT!

Le Creuset Enameled Cast Iron 10 1/4 Inch Square Skillet Grills

Le Creuset Square Skillet Grill PanThe only reason why this doesn't get the last star, in my book, is because of its somewhat limited usefulness. However, if you live in an apartment or otherwise anywhere where grilling is impossible, this is the next best thing....like all other Le Creuset products this heats evenly and wonderfully and takes abuse.I got mine as part of a 6-piece set (along with a Dutch Oven, Baking Pan, and Casserole) and sorta at first saw this as a "filler" piece. However, to it's credit, this pan can do even easilly-burned items like tofu dogs and fake bacon WONDERFULLY, which shocked me--I was convinced that nothing could give a "grilled" effect to those items. I even got adventerous the first time I used it and grilled some apple rings.I panicked when some sugar seemed to be burnt on for good despite a good soaking, but after the pot had been dried and put away for 48 hours it flaked right off.Forget what you know about nonstick surfaces, btw, and banish those bad memories of cruddy, flaking Teflon from the 70's.Just treat this well (I only use wooden utensils on it) and it will treat you well.Follow the instructions and enjoy!Just be sure to use a potholder and realize that once this thing gets hot it STAYS hot for a LONG time.

Wow, I love this pan!I also live in an apartment, so this is a great substitute for outdoor grilling when you want a quick dinner. It's not as good as the outdoor charcoal grill, but this has some advantages. It'ssuper easy.I use this pan several times a week.I pre-heat the pan, brush a little canola oil to the ribs, and while it warms up to the right temperature, I prepare the food.I cut some veggies (can use zucchini, squash, small eggplant, onions, bell pepper, etc), on the bias, so there's more surface area, toss with olive oil, salt & pepper, and grill. You may have to do several rounds of it if you have lots of veggies. After cooking until just tender, toss with a little balsamic vinegar and olive oil.DELICIOUS!!Also, we've been grilling some great local wild salmon on this pan.It is unbelievable. It is very quick, so don't overcook.Season with salt and pepper, and anything you like. Just practice a couple times, experiment with the temperature and your technique, and you'll see how easy and tasty it is.If you can get some homegrown or organic produce, it's so much more tasty.Simple grilling complements good ingredients.

(1) Where is it written, who decreed that skillets should be round?(2) Why has it taken me so long to discover the advantages of a square fry pan?

The answers are: nowhere that I know of, and because my mother always used a round skillet. She would have loved this enameled cast iron beauty that leaves appetizing sear marks on meat a char effect without the mess. The ribbed base captures grease allowingfor healthier low fat cooking, and the surface isa satiny black enamel that cleans in a breeze.

It's compatible with all heating surfaces, and has an easy hold comfortable handle. We lightly applied vegetable oil to the ribs before our first use, and for several times thereafter.Since then there has been no need for the addition of oils.By heating the grill for a few minutes on medium heat (test with a drop of water and heat until water droplets sizzle) we've found the cooking surface primed for superior cooking.

This nifty item has such a plethora of uses it can be used in the oven (keep your oven glove at the ready) or even on a backyard barbecue.

Don't let the high price tag and the cast iron thing scare you away from this great product. It's not your mother's cast iron of stuck-on messes and rust in your food. It's very easy to season, and from there it works great. We've been able to cook everything from salmon, to buffalo, to pineapples with no sticking.

Unlike it's predecessor, the George Foreman grill, it cooks many kind of foods beautifully without drying it out or sticking. The key...temperature control. Since it works with your stove, you can control the amout of heat you need.

Also, having a wee kitchen, it's nice not to have another appliance taking up valuable counter space.

One of the best features is the lifetime warranty. And they mean it too. My friend had a Le Creuset teapot that rusted out and they sent her a replacement for free.

Sure it's pricey, but you get what you pay for with this pan.

Professional gourmet steakhouse steakI swear.

But this pan will get oil splatters on it that will turn black under high heat circumstances. Are you going to spend 3 hours scrubbing every nook and cranny with baking soda and a scotch brite? No! I won't either. So I live with the black oil stains, and take them as badges of honor for all of the previous delicious meals past.

However, I'm slightly OCD and the black spots do bug me. I recommend this pan highly, just get the black color. You won't see any stains, and you'll just love this thing.

For panini fans: Get the panini press which fits with this perfectly.

The perfect San Francisco panini: Get a French roll, slice down the middle and slather the insides with olive oil. Lay on a few slices of prosciutto, a few roasted red peppers packed in water or oil (from your deli or condiments section of the grocery store), and a few generous slices of mozzarella. Sprinkle sandwich with a little salt. Grill in pan on medium heat until the first side is golden. Flip sandwich. Adjust heat so that when the second side turns golden, the mozzarella is just starting to melt. Bite into heaven.

Joyce Chen 23-0001, 14 inch Lightweight Cast Iron Wok

Joyce Chen 23-0001, 14 inch Lightweight Cast Iron WokI just got this wok. It was absolutely perfect, no cracks etc. There are several of these new light weight cast iron woks on the market now here and on e-bay. I wanted a flat bottomed wok because they work best on a western stove. With a flat bottomed wok you don't need a wok ring and you have more surface area near the flame so you can get enough heat to do a proper stir fry. I also like the long wooden handle instead of a plastic one. It is also preseasoned so that you don't have to go through the hassle of seasoning it, although it really is pretty easy to do on these new cast iron woks.

This new cast iron is as much stronger than the thin traditional cast iron sometimes used in chinese made woks and much lighter than the heavy thick cast iron woks that are widely available. Just don't try to wash it when its hot as reportedly they can crack. I have worked with both thick and thin traditional cast iron and this is clearly the best. With the thinner cast iron you can make more rapid temperature changes than you can with heavy cast iron.

There are several other kinds of materials used in woks.I also like the new thin light weight cast iron better than carbon steel because usually those are not preseasoned and I often struggled with keeping them seasoned.Whatever you do don't get a nonstick coated wok as the coating is damaged and comes off at high temperatures required for stir frying. Also avoid stainless steel woks as meat tends to stick so you need to use a lot more oil. You can't develop a seasoned coating on stainless steel. In my opinion, stainless steel woks are good for steaming but not for stir frying.

This is a great WOK.I replaced an old non stick one.I can heat this Cast Iron one so much higher.Things cooked quickly and were not "steamed." Worked well on my stove top also -had to return several previously that were described as having a flat bottom, but when I received them the bottoms were not completely flat.Love that it is cast iron and I can use metal utensils. It really is lightweight.I have problems with my hands but was able to pick up the fully loaded Wok easily.

This wok is fantastic! I have used cheaper ones in the past, and have always been disappointed with the results. But I finally convinced my wife that spending 50$ on this would be worth it (we bought it at a store in the mall). I am so happy we bought it!

You can really see the quality of this thing. From the firm handle to the weight of the wok, the uniformity of it all is amazing. And it gets amazingly hot. My dinners now are absolutely amazing. I never knew my old wok just didn't get hot enough! I've used it three nights in a row now and want to keep using it!

I would definitely recommend this to anyone, as long as they know how to take care of their cookware because I would hate to see someone ruin this expensive wok by throwing it hot into a sink or not maintaining it correctly!

The lady in the store also mentioned that she wished she bought the cast iron one as opposed to her carbon steel one after I made it to the register.

First and second orders were both delivered with one of the woks damaged with a huge crack which almost broke the wok in halves.I thought it was due to poor handling and shipping so complained to Customer Service, returned damaged woks, and got replacement.Undamaged wok does look good, until you start using it.I used it to cook only once and handled it with care. Before I had a chance to use it again the next day, a 3-4 inch crash showed up !!!

Want Joyce Chen 23-0001, 14 inch Lightweight Cast Iron Wok Discount?

I own a glass top electric stove (GE Profile). It isn't easy to cook at a high temperature, but Joyce Chen's lightweight cast iron wok heated rapidly and cooked quickly with minimal splattering on my stove top. Another concern was that the wok might slip around the burner as I stirred and scratch the glass top. Although there was a small bit of slipage, the glass burner was not scratched. Perhaps this is because the bottom of the wok is fairly smooth rather than rough as some cast iron fry pans tend to be. Although warned to delay dipping in or filling with water while the pan was still hot for fear of cracking, I was pleased that the pan cooled quickly within 30-40 minutes and then could be washed. The entire process of cook and clean was simple with little mess and great results. I am very satisfied with my purchase. So take heart all you glass top stove owners; stir frying works wonderfully with this pan on a glass top electric stove!

Mauviel Cookware: M'Cook Stainless Round Frying Pan

Mauviel M'Cook 5213.20 8 Inch Round Frying Pan, Cast Stainless Steel HandleThis pan is nice, but not nearly what I expected it to be.I was thinking of buying a set of M'Cook, but thought I would test it first.I'm glad I did...it looks great, but performs only okay.

First, it is much lighter than I thought it would be.It doesn't heat nearly as evenly as most cookware I regularly use.Lastly, it takes a while to heat up & after use it discolors from getting too hot.I'm hard on pans, I'm a chef & typically cook w/ higher temperatures to get the best caramelization.Mafter & Le Creuset are still my favorites.

Excellent pan.Handle is small but this helps make the pan well balanced.Cleans up easily enough in the dishwasher.Couldn't be happier with my purchase (especially since on special!).

Lodge Logic Pre-Seasoned Iron Griddle

Lodge Logic Pre-Seasoned Iron GriddleI really wanted a pre-seasoned cast iron skillet to replace the series of 'disposable' teflon coated ones that I've been using, but when I recieved this one, I was a bit disappointed for 2 reasons. As someone else already stated, make sure you coat it well with oil on the first use.Even though I did, the eggs still stuck.Which leads to my second problem. The picture does not show the large gutter on the flat side. That makes it rather unusable for eggs, pancakes, etc.I tried it anyway, trying to keep the eggs away from the gutter, but they dripped in, and my fried eggs turned into a stuck-on long drippy mess in the gutter.I wouldn't even try pancakes on it.:-(It would cost more in shipping to return it than it costs (almost!) since it's so heavy, so I'll keep it and use it in the oven and on the grill, but I'm unhappy that that picture does not show that gutter.I'm going to order the larger griddle, but that one is going back if it has the same gutter!

Lodge is the leader in cast-iron cookware.Made in USA for more than 100 years, it's heavy, reliable, great stuff.Cast iron takes a little effort. You have a relationship with it, unlike teflon type pans. You learn to work with it and it will reward you with incredible performance.

I've had the non-preseasoned version of this griddle for about ten years. At first I was disappointed in the performance but over time it got better and better.Nothing sticks to it now.Cleanup is easy with just a quick wipe needed. The cast iron is so good at spreading the heat out that it has very even temperature.

Pre-seasoned is a bit of a misnomer. The "seasoning" process is never completeLodge Logic has simply jump started the process. It does get better and better. At first maybe only use it with an oil or with fatty foods. As time goes by the need for added oil goes down.I can make pancakes or french toast with no oil or butter.I generally give it a light spray of cooking spray though.

My only complaints are that with the grease gutter the total cooking area is somewhat small, plus pancakes will flow into the gutter if you aren't careful.I never use the grill side but from experience with my Lodge grill pan I'm sure it would do a great job.

I'm sure that this griddle will just keep getting better and better as the years go by.I can't say that for coated nonstick cookwarethat seems to have a life of about five years in my family.

Note that your burner spacing is important. This size has a cooking area (not including the grease gutter or handles) of 16-3/4" x 7-3/4".The overall size is about 21" x 9".It fits the stove in my camper and my Weber Gas Go-Anywhere Grill perfectly. It does not fit my stove at home or my Coleman propane stove because those burners are spaced 11" apart. For those stoves I am considering getting the larger Lodge griddle where the handles are inset. All the Lodge products are listed on the "lodgemfg" homepage.Since cast iron is heavy, shipping can be expensive so be sure you get free SuperSaver shipping.

Why? No loop handles on the pro griddle. Why does it matter, well the handles make it too long to fit inside your oven, or ontop of your stove.

If you are running a camp, maybe these handles are the better way to go, for the rest of us, get the Lodge Pro griddle instead.

I am new to cast iron cookware and this is also my first stovetop griddle. I love that it's pre-seasoned, but even then, I managed to burn my pancakes on the first try. I'd turned the electric burners on to High: rookie mistake. Now I set it to Medium-High. Problem solved. My husband swears hamburgers taste better on this grill than in our George Foreman grill.

The cons of this are characteristic of any cast iron cookware. First of all, it's HEAVY. Storing it was a problem until I found it fit perfectly in the drawer beneath my oven. And unlike a previous reviewer, I had no trouble with this not fitting in my oven or on my stove top (we have a slide-in range; it might not fit as well on a free-standing range where the temp control panel might get in the way). Maintenance is another issue, but care instructions are included, so read them carefully. You will need a metal scourer to keep it clean and lots of nonstick spray to keep it rust-free. I wrap my grill in aluminium foil after cleaning to keep it from getting everything else greasy.

Bottomline: cooks great, high maintenance, and lasts multiple lifetimes.

Great grill, but after you follow all the instructions, add this info: pre-heat the grill and then coat it well with good canola oil. Then lightly coat the food you're cooking, too.I had a big mess to clean when I didn't do this.Great for rainy days when cooking outside doesn't work.

Corning Vision Visions Amber 10 3/4" Skillet with Lid

Corning Vision Visions Amber 10 3/4' Skillet with LidI prefer a non-toxic pan for cooking which is why I purchased this glass cookware.

For cooking vegetables and items that don't stick really badly, the Visionware has been great. I use this particular pan mainly to sautee or steam vegetables and to fry bacon.

It cleans up nicely when you soak it and scrub it out with a plastic scrubber. I then place it in the dishwasher for a thorough cleaning.

I have used Visionware for about 22 years, including this frying pan.I don't know why Visions made a 10" and a 10 3/4" skillet but I have both sizes andI have several of each due to my tendancy to batch cook.

The frying pan has never failed or exploded on me.

However, there have been some complaints about exploding Visionware (Google is your friend).

Some incidents can be attributed to thermal shock such as running cool water in a hot pot, or placing the hot item on a cool surface, or putting the cookware on a heat source with no water in it.

Also, if you have chipped, cracked, or scratched cookware, it is recommended that you discard it.

I would recommend carefully checking your cookware and discarding it if it is damaged.

You will want to avoid scratching it with metal utensils.

WearEver C9443364 Pure Living Nonstick Ceramic Coating PTFE-PFOA-Cadmium Free Dishwasher Safe 3.5-Q

WearEver C9443364 Pure Living Nonstick Ceramic Coating PTFE-PFOA-Cadmium Free Dishwasher Safe 3.5-Quart Jumbo Cooker Cookware, Champagne GoldI haven't used it yet but your measurements are off you said it was 14 by 7 by 3 1/2 but it is only a 10 in by 3 1/2.I will keep it cause I really like the deeper pan but It is not a 14 inch around pan.

It cooks evenly and is so easy to stir-fry vegetables and everything else because the size is large and the sides of the pan are high so your food doesn't flip out of the pan. Nothing sticks and the food slides around easily.Clean-up is easy because nothing sticks.

I really do love it and want to change all of my cookware to this product.

I wish Wear Ever would also make a much larger fry pan, and I mean very large.I'd buy it immediately.(Would someone please tell Wear Ever for me?)

The ceramic finish is so easy to work with.I know it's durable but I am babying this pan just out of love for it!! :-)

I cannot even begin to tell you how much I love this pan, and the others in the set.

It is super light.

Heats up very quickly (do not go above medium).

So easy to clean it is ridiculous.

The cover fits the frying pan as well.

The quality is fantastic. It's not like the "Green" pans that only have a thin, painted-on coating of ceramic that wears off in two months. There is an actual, full layer of ceramic over the metal. Then another coating over that.

Get this, and the others!!!You won't be sorry.

I've used it once, and I'm very pleased.I'm trying to avoid using anything aluminum.I've read that aluminum can cause, or at least contribute to, Alzheimers. So, I tried to find a pan that is NOT aluminum. That is not easy. They all seem to have it, at least the non-stick ones.I found this ceramic coated one, and it is really non-stick.The food slides right off of it. It's very easy to clean. On a side note, I also bought Orgreenic pans, and I am not happy with them. The first few times I used them, they were great. Now, after several uses, the food sticks to them just like any other cheap pans.

Actually, it should be 4 1/2 starts to start. Some things I noticed with the pan.The first time you heat it the pan there was some off-gassing that does affect the flavor of the first couple of things you cook.I performed the seasoning as the as instructed and have only washed via soap and water.I have cooked eggs, pancakes, grilled cheese, and various other meals with NO OIL!well the grilled cheese had margarine on the bread ...You do not need oil, and the cooking is odd because things boil/cook because of heat instead of frying because of oil. While odd, still very tasty!Another thing, these pans need very little heat to cook. They distribute heat very evenly and rapidly, if you cook on too high of heat it will burn, possibly stick food to the pan.I cook with gas and the flame is med to med low about 1" from the pan.Cleanup couldn't be easier, no staining evident after cooking multiple tomato sauce dishes as well.I'll update after a few months.

Nostalgia Electrics RHD-800 Retro Series Hot Dog Roller

Nostalgia Electrics RHD-800 Retro Series Hot Dog RollerIf you like hot dogs then you need one of these.

This is literally a "set-it and forget-it" cooking device.

Bought it originally for the office but now I want one for home.

Pros:

-simple to use

-easy clean up

-makes perfectly cooked dogs

Cons:

if your dogs are bun length you won't fit 8 but rather 4 on at a time

Let me address a few comments I've read above concerning this unit.

Yes, sometimes the hot dogs don't want to roll at first. Why? Because the way they are vacuum sealed squeezes them into a squarish shape.Don't worry once they start to heat and plump they'll roll just fine.As I stated above and others mentioned if you are cooking longer dogs you'll only be able to fit 4 dogs instead of 8.The bun warmer is more of a bun drier as others have said so we don't use that. The right knob turns the rollers on and the left knob controls the heat.We run the left knob at 5 o'clock and in 20-25 minutes you'll have a nice evenly cooked hot dog with perfect color and perfect temperature inside. We've cooked more than 100 hot dogs on this unit since my purchase less than a month ago, unit is still going strong with zero issues.

In conclusion I can't think of one bad thing to say about this unit.

If you are even a little interested in this item don't hesitate, order one, you won't regret it.

I found this product to be very nice looking and well constructed. And, it worked as advertised. My mistake was using very fat hotdogs for the first run. Careful placement was necessary to get them to rotate without rubbing together. Regular hotdogs would have been a wiser choice. Between initial warmup and actual cook time, it does take a while, but it is meant to cook slowly while turning the dogs. The machine is completely silent when operating.

Cleanup is very easy with the roller assembly and drip pan removable. but one must wait for the machine to cool down first to prevent getting burned.

If hotdog stand style doggies are your thing, you'll love this machine.

If you love hot dogs, you need this! This machine is a great value and it makes a great hot dog, plus it toasts the buns . . . making a perfect "ball park" tasting hot dog!If you are in a hurry, this isn't the way to cook a hot dog, but in about 20 minutes you will have a perfectly cooked hot dog.We love it for summer lunch at our pool . . .we set the temperature low and let the hot dogs roll for an hour while we swim and by the time the kids are ready for a break the hot dogs (and buns) are perfect!!I wish they made a bigger version because about six hot dogs is about all I can fit, other wise they don't roll and cook evenly. You definitely need to use the regular hot dogs for best results, the long dogs and fat dogs definitely don't work as well.I also appreciate that this machine is easy to clean and was a breeze to assemble

We went to use this for the 1st time New Years Eve. Everyone was excited because it reminded us of olden times. It started to turn then quit. The motor was turning but not the rollers. Very sloppy fit. I took it apart by prying the rubber legs off and taking 6 screws out of the bottom. Adjusted the motor mount so that the spindle went farther out into the roller spindle. Put it back together and it works great. Shouldn't have to do this with something new.

Presto 07037 Jumbo Cool Touch Electric Griddle, Black

Presto 07037 Jumbo Cool Touch Electric Griddle, BlackI am extremely pleased with my purchase of the Presto 07034 Jumbo Cool Touch Electric Griddle. For a long time, I have used basic stovetop frying pans to cook such things as scrambled eggs, fried eggs, pancakes, French toast, hash browns and a variety of other grilled foods.Unfortunately, the typical frying pan usually isn't large enough to cook larger amounts, so you end up spending more time cooking smaller portions. Not so with the Presto 07034 Jumbo Cool Touch Electric Griddle. With its 10-1/2 by 20-1/2-inch cooking surface, it has twice as much cooking area than a typical stove-top circular frying pan and lack of sides makes turning cooking items much easier. Its non-stick surface ensures that food doesn't get stuck while cooking and makes cleaning the grill a snap! Also, it cooks foods more evenly than my stovetop frying pans ever did!

Overall, I rate the Presto 07034 Jumbo Cool Touch Electric Griddle with a resounding 5 out of 5 stars and highly recommend it.If you have a relatively small kitchen, you may have some problems storing it. If this is true, see if you can rearrange things a bit because the time saved by using the Presto 07034 Jumbo Cool Touch Electric Griddle is well worth it!

I bought this griddle because I have a very small stove.I never seen to have enough burners.I only have room for one large fry pan and when you are making eggs and pancakes you have to wait for one to finish before you can cook the other.Breakfast can sometimes take until lunch to make. It's nice too that we can make four grilled cheese sandwiches at once that way the kids eat at the same time.I also like the fact that it has a fat collector that is easy to remove and clean.Since we bought this I have cooked something on it every day.I leave it right on my counter because I use it so much. I would recommend this to everyone.

You would think it would be easy to make a decision about such a mundane item, but when you're faced with dozens of choices and not much time to compare prices, you need to know what's the best deal for your money.

I purchased this griddle in May of 2006 and have been VERY satisfied with it. Like other reviewers pointed out, it has a huge cooking surface, the temperature control unit works accurately and it's economical and convenient to use. There is a handy drip pan to catch bacon grease, pancake batter and the like. Oh yes, and it's easy to clean -a big bonus in my book. This is probably the sixth griddle I've owned over the years, but so far, it's the best and is a real bargain for the price. A can't miss item.

This griddle replaced a smaller Presto that I had owned for years before it finally succumbed to age, and I can't say enough about how well this Jumbo cooks. The non-stick surface is excellent, and the spacious cooking area allows you to cook large family meals in one shift.I use it now for just about everything...hot dogs, hamburgers, eggs (even scrambled), bacon, sausage, grilled cheese, fajitas, tortillas, etc.Clean up is easy...just unplug the cord, empty the drain cup and then take the griddle to the sink and wash it off.It is submersible, so there's no fear of messing up the thing with water.Highly recommended!

I bought this griddle to replace a well-worn older one. This one is great. It's much bigger than most of the ones I've seen, but is not heavy or cumbersome. The handles do stay cool and the temp control is easy and out of the way.We hand wash it and the surface is as good as new after several months of at least weekly (sometimes almost daily) use.We make pancakes, bacon, eggs, sausage, chicken, steak, and grilled cheese sandwiches on it.I always use a nonstick spray with it, and it is ten seconds with soapy water to clean it.I did put the drip tray in the dishwasher on the bottom shelf and it melted, so DON'T DO THAT! :)

Chinook Trekker 8.5 Inch Hard Anodized Frying Pan

Chinook Trekker 8.5 Inch Hard Anodized Frying PanI actually bought this solely for the handles, not for camping, but for household use.Risky...but worth a try in the 4 for 3 bargain. It cooks excellent, doesn't give off that "non-stick" stink, works nicely on glass top stove, sits nice and flat, good quality with a medium weight, not super heavy but not anywhere close to thin or flimsy, and the absolute greatest part of all.............THE HANDLES FOLD UP!!!!!I want all my pots and pans with these handles, made for household use!!!!!

One complaint the handle have no latch to hold them together. It would be nice it there was a little metal hook or latch or something so when you are cooking, they can't fold back against the hot pan.It didn't happen but I had to be careful when I was working with the food in the pan to make sure each time I stopped that I left the handles in the perfect OUT position.

BUT AGAIN.....PLEASE MAKE MORE, IN EVERY SHAPE AND SIZE, EVERY KIND OF POT AND PAN NEEDED FOR A COMPLETE KITCHEN SET! WHAT A TERRIFIC INVENTION!WHAT A SPACE SAVER!more more morePLEASE!!!!!
