This is, of course a perfect fit to the pan.The domed lid makes for a good moist cooking environment, and you can see what is going on inside.The black knob is easy to grab and does not get hot.I vacillated between this and the steel cover, which looks easier to store.I am glad to have this but would consider the steel cover if storage is a problem.

I got this for a 20 year old Scanpan that had its original lid broken.The design has changed a little over the years but it still fits the large fry pan and the stock pot.The quality is good and it is easy to clean.I expect it to last another 20 years at least.

Earth Pan Hard Anodized Nonstick Skillet, 12-Inch

I purchased this for my husband so we could get rid of the old flaking teflon and wanted to go with something "Greener".My husband loves to make over easy eggs and for the first month this pan worked great, but now our eggs are sticking VERY badly.Even with butter or oil, we have sticking problems.

I wish it was the pan for us, but everything sticks now.So, I search on for a pan that isn't toxic and doesn't stick...because this one might be non toxic, but it does stick to food!

I never used any metal tools on it.I always hand washed, never used the dishwasher on it.I have treated this as a baby and can't believe my treatment of pan could have been the cause of the non stick no longer working.

Okay, so I'm a guy, and can't say that I have an in depth knowledge of kitchen tools. In fact, I still have yet to buy a complete cooking set (just getting by with the odd pots and pans that friends and family have shed over the years). But I've had this pan for about 4 years now, and I'm pleased with it.

95% of time I use this pan to cook my son and I scrambled eggs in the morning. I always melt a little butter in the pan before cooking the eggs too. The scrambled eggs come out great, and the pan is easy to clean up afterwards (I use a wet paper towel and swipe all the egg residue in the sink, and the pan is clean...although I put it back on the warm burner to mitigate any bacteria growth from not using soap).

I have used it a few times to cook eggs without butter...and it didn't seem so non-stick to me then. The eggs were definitely sticking to the bottom of the pan while I cooked, resulting in crispier than usual scrambled eggs (which my son noticed...we don't like crispy scrambled eggs). Perhaps because I didn't use butter I should have turned the heat down a few notches, which might have prevented the sticking (complete guess, again, cooking good food has been a learning process for me). However, the way I see it, a non-stick pan should be non-stick even without butter. So that is why I'm only giving it 4 stars.

I love my set of Earth Sand Pans.They require less heat to cook foods.My rice comes out fluffy and does not stick on the bottom.Any cooked residue comes off easily without much scouring.They require very little oil for cooking vegetables, meats, etc in the fry pan.My meat does brown.They are light weight and easy to handle.I only wish that the manufacturer would come out with some larger size pans in the future.Iam very happy with this purchase.

I thought I was really smart. I went in the kitchen and measured a skillet to see how large 12" would be. WELL, I was reallyupset when I got it.{You have to measure from corner to corner.} It was smaller than I had thought. For a good iron skillet ,it's a good buy.But, I can only get 2 chops in it at one time.

Please do not buy this skillet. I purchased the skillet for a gift for my mother-in-law. when she received it the skillet was cracked beside the handle and you could see right through the skillet. Not only that but the quality of the item was very poor not an even thickness to the cast iron at all. Rough felling. I would stay away from this skillet save your money.

I thought I was buying a 12" square pan.I searched on other websites to find more info about size but even Bayou Classic does not give the size.Other sites were also off.I gave faith to Amazon and ordered the pan.

Here are the real measurements:

Outside lip 10.4" square

Inside at the top 9.9" square

Inside at the bottom 8.6" square

Corner to corner, it does measure 12" at the top edge

Corner to end of handle, 16.8" long.

Basically the pan is the same size as the Lodge 10 1/4" square pan.

It felt lighter in weight compared to the Lodge square pan, which can be good, you get the same results of cast iron, but lighter for better handling. You do need to season it.

I have other Bayou Classic pieces and the quality is not quite the Lodge quality but the price you can't beat to get the same cooking results. I plan to buy other Bayou Classics again.

My hint about seasoning: use shortening all over the cast iron, in and outside, heat the cast iron on a gas barbecue at medium-high heat for about an hour, it will rival the quality of pre-season cast iron.I have tried the oven method and I don't think it is worth it to smoke-up the kitchen and it just does not get the cast iron seasoned well enough.

Now I think I'm thankful it didn't. The corner handle seemed like it would be more convenient, but I was specifically looking for a square 12" skillet, and NOT diagonally! That is misleading advertising, unless you're selling tv sets, which everyone knows are measured diagonally.

ExcelSteel 12 Inch super lightweight cast iron frypan

I am very happy with this pan. It's practically non-stick if treated properly. It cooks evenly, heats quickly and is large enough for stir fry. I highly recommend this especially for the price. It's also very light for a cast iron pan. The handle is also great as it's the only cast iron I have that where the handle doesn't get too hot to handle.

I've had a ExcelSteel fry pan for over 2 years.These are a great alternative to traditional cast iron cookware.They weight about 50% less.I find them to be the best answer for safe, high temp frying.Many of the poor reviews here seem to be lack of experience with cast iron.Yes, you need to season the pan. Yes, you need to clean it after use or it will rust in the sink. Yes, it is not true non-stick at low temperatures.But, like a good, seasoned, cast iron pan, this fried better than anything I have found.AND its one of the most safe fry pans on the market.The latest gov't reports on Teflon and related non-stick cookware are disturbing.With very little proper maintenance this pan will last a lifetime.

We bought a 12 super lightweight cast iron fry pan a few weeks ago. I was trying to get away from coated non-stick pans. I weighed the pan and it was about the same weight as my 12" Cuisinart non-stick pan. That is the good part. On the down side, the center of the pan is higher than the edges. If you put some oil in the pan, the oil forms a 1 1/2" wide ring around the center but it is not too deep. Even that is not so bad, the real bad part is that the center gets hot, and the edges are not nearly as hot (this area is about 1 1/2", the same width as the low spot). We cooked some bacon strips that were cut in half, so they were about 4 1/2" long. They were arranged so that some were in the middle of the pan, and some around the edge. The bacon in the middle cooked fairly rapidly, the ones on the edge did not cook well. We had to constantly move the edge bacon to the middle. The size of the hot spot was about the same as the burner diameter, so it appears that the heat does not travel well beyond the center. We have had no problem with the "black coating" coming off, but have only used the pan a few times. Each time only the center heated. Would not recommend this pan!

Helping handle is good.You need it.These seem to rust faster than the older type if you spill any water on them.They are lighter than the older type but not by much.Still pretty heavy.Don't get one for Grandma unless she's a body builder.I can't tell that they cook any more evenly than other pans I have.I still get spot burning with these.A disappointment but it's still healthier than other metals.

I received the Bee Wax coated model. I boiled a few batches of water to totally immerse it and remove the wax (and wiped it with paper towel) before seasoning.

I can fry raw potato slices much quicker than with any other pans.

this would be fine for single servings I suppose, but for cooking for 2 or more people it's too small and food set near the edges doesn't cook very well, and sometimes not at all. It was so very difficult to clean as well. The little tray that catches the fat tends to fill rather quickly and then your stuck trying to figure out how to empty and replace it while hot grease continues to drip from your cooking food.... not possible... so you just hope it doesn't make a huge mess.

Bottom line.... not good for more than cooking one thing at a time, doesn't cook even around the outer edges and a pain to clean.

Cast Iron Steak Weight & Bacon Press

It is a functional item and arrived as described and quickly.I think it works fine but had a few flaws in the casting that I wish that they had caught.A little better quality control is needed.Not worth returning, I will just grind the spots in question to protect my cookwares finish.

Nice heavy bacon/sausage press. It's cast iron so don't get it wet but it's exactly what it looks like. Very solidly made. The wood handle is screwed in at both ends and the wood isn't finished on the ends, so again, if you get it wet, that might be a problem, but if you keep it clean with a brush or scraper, this utensil is likely to last a long, long time. Can't go wrong.

When I got this, not only was the metal and handle sticky with some unknown substance, but the press was actually warped in the middle so it wouldn't lay flat. The texture on the bottom is very small squares packed closely together. Not what I was looking for. I returned it post-haste.

Do yourself a favor and spend another 5 bucks on a QUALITY press. I bought the Outset Q111. Significantly better.

This is great for flattening bacon and steaks. I highly recommend this for a friend and would buy again. It has small bumps on the flat, heavy, device. Well made. Needs to be seasoned and dried well after washing as it is metal and can rust if not treated. It does have a sticker that states "Made in China".

I washed this item before putting it to use. While washing it, it was literally turning to rust in my hands. My boyfriend kept saying..Naaah, that's not rust. But, what the hell else could it be? Rusty water just beading up on the press almost as fast as it was wet.

Then the handle got super sticky and it's as if it's coated in some weird adhesive or something.

I'm going to return this thing as soon as possible. Do yourself a favor, get one from a name brand company. I actually thought I was ordering the Kingsford one but, I ended up with this and well, it sucks.

Very nice pan.I've been using it for a bout a week.Got the Farberware lid Farberware 10-Inch Glass Lid for it which fits nicely.Nonstick is great -I've cooked eggs and cheese and fried hamburgers without using any oil.

My only complaint is that they came with a "blah blah blah Nonstick" label stuck to the middle of the inside surface with some kind of adhesive.Now this is a stupid, stupid thing to do for so many reasons.Not the least of which is that it puts a chemical adhesive on your food surface.

But that notwithstanding, the adhesive is a permanent-stick adhesive!I tried to peel it off and the paper label separated and left the adhesive with a think layer of paper.I called the company and they said to use olive oil (didn't work) or creamy peanut butter to remove the adhesive.Well, the peanut butter worked pretty well, and I finally got it off.But what a headache!I get a nice new product and I have to spend 10 or 15 minutes struggling with it to get a stupid label off without damaging a sensitive surface.Makes you wonder just how "nonstick" that surface is... how ironic!

They have no business putting an adhesive label on your food surface at all.

This skillet warms up evenly, cooks beautifully , and the cleaning is a dream.

I own already the collection ofAnolon pots and pans and I adore every one of them.

I, without hesitation, recommend it highly.THE BEST.

As a guy who's wife took everything, I was reduced to boiling eggs in the kettle, or worse yet microwave. This set, even with the large postage to Australia, allowed me to get a good range of pots and pans at a great price.

This set is far better than the stuff she took.

It would have been good if the griddle was a bit bigger though.

I hope these are as good as our old set. When we were first married we bought what we could afford, back then it was a small set of T-fal.The other day I thought that it was time for a new set of pots & pans.Our other ones were OK but it was getting time.I was thinking that we could actually afford one of those pricey sets that I hear people talking about, but then I realized that we had bought our old set right after we got married and we have been married 29 years this September.That settled it for me,why get a set that would cost a lot of money that I am not sure how good it would work when I could get the same ones that have worked great and are still working well enough that I am going to pass them on to my daughter.My daughter got a set of very expensive pots & pans as a wedding gift five years ago and has already had to throw one pot away after she made candy in it.The stuff stuck so bad that she finally just gave up on it.I have burnt fudge in my T-fal and just wiped it out with a paper towel!My daughter also told me that her set had an odorthat she could not get rid of,she is thrilled to be getting my old T-fal and I am thrilled to have my snazzy new RED ones!!

Overall, I love the set.I would have given it four stars because it cooks well and the color goes great with my kitchen.However, it's only been about four months since I purchased it and the handles are already loose.Also, what's up with that one egg frying pan, seriously, that was such a waste.I would have preferred another cover for the larger frying pan or even a steamer would have been great. For the price it's not a bad deal.My first set was much more durable. I'm really hoping this set lasts as long but I'm doubtful.

We thought our daughter who likes to cook would like this.She did in spades and uses it regularly now. Incidentally, a non all-clad was sent in error.Thank goodness because they are afraid of all-stick chemicals.

While we have not used this for a long time, it is a pleasure to use.This being the non-stick version of an All-Clad product.It does what a good pan is supposed to do by being perfectly flat on the bottom which makes it perfect for a smooth top electric range.It is heavy enough that it stays put but not so heavy as cast iron.Cast iron is phased out in our kitchen as we are too old and shaky to manhandle the weight of iron.The non stick coating is nicely done and perfectly smooth and truly non stick.It heats evenly across the whole cooking surface like a good pan should.The nice domed top included makes it useful for such things as braising a pot roast etc.One interesting thing is the guarantee says it is void if you use any cooking spray on it, otherwise it has a lifetime guarantee.I never liked cooking sprays in any case.We can happily rate this a full 5 stars.

Lodge Logic L5IC3 Cast Iron Lid, 8-inch

The 8" Lodge skillet isgreat little pan as you probably know.After purchasing it I decided I wanted to add the lid and did so, but there are a couple things you might consider in such a purchase:

1)What was an economical cast iron pan ballooned into almost $30 for the combo.While cast iron devotees probably won't find this a problem, others might want to consider that a lot of excellent stainless lined aluminum 8" pans come with lids and are available forless.In the overall scheme of things thirty bucks isn't a lot of money, but it does cast the economical skillet in a different light when you complete your purchase with the lid.

2)Unlike other Lodge lids, the 8" model doesn't have the "ears" necessary to cover the dual pouring lips on the skillet. This means you can lose heat and moisture when you may not want to.This is particularly odd since they cast this lid with the "drip spikes" specifically designed for moisture retention.

3)While this is somewhat subjective, the quality doesn't appear to be the same as the 10" and 12" lids I have for other Lodge products.The casting doesn't appear as smooth and the lid doesn't fit as precisely as the larger lids. I belatedly tried another 8" lid (from an All-Clad saute pan) and found it to be a better fit than this Lodge lid.

I don't have a gripe against Lodge and, as you can tell by the many glowing reviews, people here on amazon love the product line.I just thought providing some information I discovered after my purchase might help you make a moreinformed decision.

Ordered this to use with my eight-inch Lodge cast iron pan. Same quality as Lodge pans, heavy and solid. Pretty straightforwardit does the job for which it was intended and it nests upside down in the pan nicely enough to store easily.

I do wonder why lids cost more than pans, but given none of the Lodge pans and lids are very expensive, especially compared to other cookware with much shorter lifespans, I don't have a problem with it.

Also, kudos to Amazon for continuing to mail even heavy items without shipping charges. That policy, and responsive customer service during this period of price gouging and an enraging lack of customer service across all industries, ensures I remain a loyal customer of Amazon.com. So two thumbs-up, Amazon!

The cheapies don't have the little nipple things that enable better dripping off the lid. Another quality Lodge cast product. After trying several cast brands from cheap to expensive, it's made in the USA Lodge cast iron only for me.

This lid is very helpful. If I'm making pancakes, I use my Lodge 8 inch frying pan to make bacon or sausage. Then, if the meat is done before I'm done cooking the pancakes, I just stick this 8 inch lid on top of the frying pan to keep the meat warm while I finish up the pancakes.
