Cuisinart WWS5-622PT Weight Watchers 5-Piece Stainless Pasta and Steamer Set

Cuisinart WWS5-622PT Weight Watchers 5-Piece Stainless Pasta and Steamer SetThe first time I used this pot, it developed a few small black spots inside the 6-quart pot: on the bottom and sides of the pot. That was the day it arrived. I had washed it in hot water with mild soap, as per the enclosed instructions, and boiled a pot of spaghetti over medium-high heat, also per instructions. The second time I used it, black spots formed on the insert. Again, after cooking as directed. I cleaned the pot shortly after using, not allowing water to sit in it for a long time, and dried it by hand immediately after washing. I am not sure if the silver is flaking off or if the spots are merely a discoloration. Either way, it does not instill confidence in the manufacturer or, indeed, in the name Weight Watchers. This pot was bought new, was not misused or even put in a dish washer, as I do not own one. I washed it with dish soap and hot water. Neither of which have ever caused this to happen with any of my other cookwear. In future, I will steer clear of this brand and manufacturer.

This pasta pot is a great value, it's a terrific size for one or two people, It'sconvenient and durable.

The Gourmet Bar Pot Rack

Wall-Mounted Pot Rack, 36-InchesOur kitchen didn't have tall enough ceilings for a proper overhanging pot rack but we did have wall space for a wall pot rack.I was slightly afraid that this wall pot track wouldn't be able to handle the weight of many pots and pans but after installing it we've had no issues whatsoever.Installation was very easy. The price was unbeatable considering alternative wall pot racks could go up to the hundreds.I would definitely recommend this.

For the money, you can't beat this pot rack! It comes with plenty of hooks, something other pot racks sell separately. I was able to put it up in about 5 minutes. I made sure to use some good wall anchors just in case, but it's holding a full set of Calphalon pots and a 10" iron skillet without coming down. Simple, straight-forward, and very little space required!

I have a teeny tiny apartment with limited storage in my kitchen. This rack was a lifesaver for I could hang it on the wall rather than suspended from the ceiling like other racks, which would have been impossible in my small kitchen.I didn't have a place for my pots and pans with my small cabinets so this item was the perfect solution. Now everything is nice and organized I'm a happy girl!

the rack is excellent. looks perfect in the space.

two screws were included in the packaging, but they were too short to go through drywall and properly grip into the studs.

i use this rack for three heavy cast iron pans and a steel-core enameled pan, so i couldn't risk it being mounted improperly. i purchased two new screws which were about twice as long and a slightly heavier gauge, at 30 cents each. the local hardware store put black patina on them for me. drilled two holes, screwed thru drywall into the studs (mine are true 2x4s this is an old house) and the rack is now invincible.

black patina on the rack and hooks is consistent, with a subtle matte look.

design wise, it's old school and clean at the same time. a great surprise for the money.

i recommend it absolutely. only caveat is to make sure you mount properly to accommodate heavier items.

Nordic Ware Barnyard Pancake Pan

Nordic Ware Barnyard Pancake PanLittle ones will love the charming farm-themed pancakes you make using this pan. Pan creates 7 small pancakeswith stamped figures of cow, pig, sheep, goat, chicken, duck and barn. The pan is well-made, heavy, and durable. Part of our weekend traditional family breakfast!

It's not much harder than making pancakes with a normal pan.It actually keeps them from running together.Kids love looking for their favorite animals.

It's very easy to use. Trick to flip the pancake: get one of those cute tiny mini spatula that is about the size of each pancake or even smaller so that it won't touch the adjacent one while flipping. Use it to lift the pancake slightly, then with help of a butter knife or spreader or little fork, flip it over...easy without problem. But the pattern shows well only one side of the pancakes, unless you use a batter that doesn't bubble too easily, then you sometimes could have a slight pattern on the other side after flipped.

Cuisinart Chef's Classic Saute Pans

Cuisinart 733-30H Chef's Classic Stainless 5-1/2-Quart Saute Pan with Helper Handle and CoverThis Cuisinart Chef's Classic saute pan has quickly become my favorite pan. It's huge a full 12" across which makes it very versatile. The pan conducts heat extremely well and is oven safe to 500 degrees. The handle is very sturdy, reasonably comfortable, and stays cool (outside of the oven, of course). The lid fits tightly. Both the interior and the exterior are very shiny and attractive. All this and it's easy to clean. Yet this pan sells for just a fraction of the sexier brands like All-Clad or Calphalon.

The chief reason for the great price is due to the construction. This is known as a "disk bottom" pan because it has a highly conductive aluminum disk embedded in its base. The really expensive brands feature "cladding", where a layer of conductive metal (usually aluminum) is embedded throughout the entire pan. Although the cookware industry loves to say that disk-bottom pans are inferior, test after test proves this claim is untrue. After all, we don't cook on the sides of a pan; we only cook on the bottom. See Cook's Illustrated magazine, May/June 2003, for a great discussion of this.

There are a few reasons why this pan might not be right for you. This pan's size makes it fairly heavy, so if you have arthritis or weak hands, you might want to opt for a smaller pan. Similarly, this pan might not fit on those tiny stovetops or ranges that you sometimes see in "galley" kitchens in apartments. But if you want a large, durable, high-quality saute pan at a fraction of the cost of the big-name brands, this is the pan for you.

I'm tired of those non-stick pans that eventually lose their coating and thought that I'll try stainless steel pan for almost everything but frying an egg.Boy did I pick the right pan to start with! This pan, besides being beautifully made, is the perfect size for almost everything I cook. It's very heavy, but the helper handle helps. It conducts heat very well, so I no longer use the high setting on my gas stove or the food would burn.Despite being made in China, the quality is excellent.I'm sure it will last decades. My only complaint is that sometimes I wish the stainless steel cover is made of glass so I can see through. But, I'll still give it 5 stars because I'm very very happy with the design and quality.

All my Chef's Classic cookware looks and cooks wonderfully well and is normally a breeze to clean up.This Monster pan is no exception.Weighing in at close to 10 lbs., it is the senior edition of the highly rated Cuisinart 3 1/2-Qt. Saute Pan.If you have a small range, the size of this (a full 12" accross) may crowd out some other burners, so beware.

I discovered thet the dome cover for the shallow Cuisinart 12" 'everything' pan also fits this pan and thus makes it a good candidate for a dutch oven.

Now for the bad news:Amazon did not see fit to ship this within a padded box.As a result, the pan arrived with a dent in the 'dripless' rim.I will likely not return it, but will give Amazon some 'direct' feedback.

(9/15 Update):Amazon made a very positive and 'generous' response to my complaint.Thank you Amazon! Also, both the 3 1/2 Qt. and 5 1/2 Qt. saute pans are on 'super' sale.Do yourselves a favor and buy both.

(9/23 Update):Because of the lower 'super' price (currently $27.99), I ordered two more as gifts. One shipped with the Cuisinart retail box packed in a nicely padded Amazon box and the other was shipped only in a Cuisinart retail box that had split open.Fortunately there were no dings or dents since this is a very sturdy, hefty item.I wonder if Amazon owns the warehouses its goods ship from?If it does, Amazon needs to try for consistency in its packing.

02/09/06:Here's an oddity:After several 'hefty' price hikes, Amazon is now hawking this 'monster' pan for $5 less than the 3 1/2 quart pan.Go figure!

I purchased this product as well as several other Cuisinart cookware products to replace nonstick T-Fal cookware. The stainless steel mirror finish is beautiful and the pan just feels solid. I sauteed some fish and true to the description very little heat was necessary to heat the pan. I found this out after applying a little too much heat and crusting on some burnt cheese. Cleanup was a breeze with just soap, water, and a dishcloth. The handles are securely fastened and I expect them to last for years. This pan is sized so that you may use it for frying with almost a 10 in diameter or as an additional pot since the sides are nearly 3 inches deep. This was a good decision and a nice product at a good price.

I was reluctant to consider this pan based on it's low price.I'm glad I took the chance!I already own a couple All Clad stainless pans, which I love, but when I priced their 5qt saute pans I balked. In my research I came across this pan, read the stats and figured I must be missing something. The All Clad stainless 5 qt. saute is like $200!!This pan with similar features was $40.I ordered it from Amazon thinking I could easily return it if it didn't pan out.Well I haven't returned it.It's quality cookware. It's heavy, cooks evenly, has 2 riveted handles and comes with a tight fitting stainless lid suitable for use on other pans.I am shocked at the value this pan offers.

Paula Deen Signature Porcelain 12-Piece Cookware Set, Butter

Paula Deen Signature Porcelain 12-Piece Cookware Set, ButterI Loved the color of the pans. I love that they all had lids. The only reason I did not give these pans a 5 star is because I do not know what happened to my medium sized pot, but it bent, my lid does not fit on it now, I didn't drop the pan, It was fine when I first cooked with it, my second use of the item I noticed it was bent, maybe it was during my cleaning, but it is very sad because now the lid does not fit on correctly. It would also be awesome if there was a lid for the smaller cooking pan. Other than that, I love this set! But I did notice it was alot cheaper at Wal-Mart after I purchased them online, and that was also disappointing, and I mean almost $30 cheaper. But the set, I like it alot.

It's been 6 months and I LOVE LOVE LOVE these pans. I read reviews that they can't handle the dishwasher and I can't say if they do since I hand wash all my pans and plastic. I also read reviews that the color wipes off even when had washed but I wanted the color so much I took the risk and the color has lasted easily. In fact one time I need to use soft scrub on the outside of the pan from an over flow that cooked on and I was careful at first but quickly realized the color doesn't come as easily as some reviews I read. The non stick has lasted too but I do put a cloth between the pans so when stacked the metal doesn't harm the non-stick. They're a joy to cook in.

At first I was very impressed with this set. They were very pretty.I have had them about 2 months now.Even though I hand washed them like the directions said and I didn't put them in the dishwasher, the copper plated accents have peeled off!As far as function they work OK but they should hold up better than that.I will save up and buy a fancier set next time.If you want something that will hold up, Don't get this set.

I received a set of 2 skillets from my son for Christmas so I decided to buy the entire set to replace my very well used set of T-fal cookware. I normally won't consider the purchase of cookware that is not dishwasher safe, but this set is easily cleaned with soapy water.I like the ceramic coating on the outside of the pans and the yellow colors are very attractive. This cookware is lighter than some I have had in the past and I have found they tend to slide on the cooking surface. One skillet has a chip in the ceramic coating and I am concerned this can be a problem with the set in the future. The set includes a very nice chicken fryer and a small sauce pan that is perfect for a can of vegtables or a can of soup.I like the rubber coated handles and the clear glass lids. I do recommend this set, expecially at this price.

The Camp Chef SK-10 Cast Iron Skillet, 10 Inch Diameter

The Camp Chef SK-10 Cast Iron Skillet, 10 Inch DiameterI am somewhat of a collector of cast iron--and I use my pieces daily.I have Wagner, Griswald, Lodge, Camp Chef, Emeril and some no-name pieces.I use several methods to season and maintain my pans, with good success. This 10 inch Camp Chef is the only one that seems resistant to becoming very slick and black.Don't get me wrong--it is a good pan in that it is relatively nonstick, holds heat, conducts evenly as you expect from cast iron. But for some reason, it is harder to layer on the seasoning.Like many made in China pans, it had a rougher surface than Lodge, Wagner etc.Perhaps this is the reason, althoughmy other Chinese pans are not this difficult. It gets a 4 for performance but a 3 for the stubborn resistance to the classic black seasoned look that I have with all my other naked cast iron pans.

It's heavy and good quality.I use it to cook salmon and steak and they came out juicy and tasted just the way I want.Great value.

I've been getting worried about all the bad press non-stick pans are getting, so I decided to try a cast iron pan. I've used various stainless steel and cast aluminum pans.

This pan heats quickly and evenly the handle gets hot so I keep oven mits handy. I love that I can use metal utensils. Cleanup is easy and quick. No worries about warping.

Thunder Group 8 Inch Aluminum Nonstick Fry Pan

Thunder Group 8 Inch Aluminum Nonstick Fry PanI bought these pans a couple months ago and very pleased with them. The teflon coating is excellent and they are easy to clean. The only downside is that the handle is aluminum and you have to wrap a pot holder around it since the handle heats up. I will buy more when needed.

This pan, and its companions, are restaurant-grade sautee pans with a very sturdy aluminum handle and slick, non-stick cooking surface. The bottoms are flat, heavy aluminum for even heat distribution.I added some rubber insulating grips for the two pans I purchased (8" and 11") but they are not really necessary in a commercial kitchen where everyone uses some type of favored insulating device from potholders to gloves, to dish rags.

Arguably, these are probably the best frying pans for the money.Don't waste your money on "brand names" and "endorsed-by" cooking stuff. All you get for your double, triple (or more) price is a thinner wallet.Restaurants do NOT use such overpriced stuff because they don't work any better.I've seen similar pans with brand-names sell for more than $150 and they cook no better than this pan.Stick with the simple things in cooking. The 8" model (the one of this review) cooks a marvelous omelet! The larger, 11" pan, which I also purchased, is perfect for larger dishes.Have you watched a TV cooking show where the chef "tosses" the contents of the pan to mix and flip them?Because of the taper at the rim of these pans, YOU can do just that with little practice.Impress your friends and family with your new show-stopping skill of showman-cooking!Many pans for sale here, and virtually ALL of the expensive pans, do NOT have this taper. This makes it more difficult to flip your dishes.

I guarantee that you'll love these pans.If memory serves me, I paid only $6 for this pan.

And yes, I am a former chef. But I am not Anthony Bourdain I don't consume prodigious amounts of alcohol. And I am not nearly so skilled as Tony. But I continue to cook for my family and friends and use this type of pan almost exclusively. They last several years easily. And at $6, you can replace them when needed. My last 8" pan lasted 7 years.

RSVP Stainless Steel Universal Lid - 7 to 12 Inch

RSVP Stainless Steel Universal Lid - 7 to 12 InchLet me start out by saying, I don't keep 2 lids of the same size just because one is glass and came with the pot and the other is stainless.I hate messing with lids.I pick which one of one size I want to keep and that's it.Frankly I'm not a big fan of the glass ones... they are heavy and if I want to see what I'm cooking I can always lift the lid.So when I went to choose a universal lid, glass wasn't an option for me.I have this lid rack:

http://www.amazon.com/Loroman-411C-Cookware-Rack-22x6/dp/B0000V0AXQ/ref=pd_bbs_sr_10?ie=UTF8&s=home-garden&qid=1226964523&sr=8-10

And it stores about 7-10 lids for me.But in the year or more since I bought my universal lid, I have never taken a lid out of this rack to use.In fact, I'm thinking about offloading all my lids and putting cutting boards and other stuff in the lid storage.

My universal buddy is always within reach of the stove.I've put this bad boy in the dishwasher too and it's come out great.Usually I hand wash it though because I don't want to wait for it.

I'm always tempted to buy another one in fear that something would happen to universal buddy. But that would defeat the purpose of having a universal lid now wouldn't it.Get this lid... you won't regret it.

UPDATE 6/28/12 Still love my universal buddy and it still looks like new!

For a generic reasonable price, it does the job of covering all those different sizes of fry pans that come without a lid. It is used almost every day.

The only problem I've encounter is that it won't fit on some of my smaller pans that have an upward tilted handle. But this is problem just because the pan is poorly designed.

Reasonably good quality stainless lid.For those needing dimensions, they are:

Overall outside diameter: 12 3/8"

Diameter inside rolled edge: 12 1/8"

Diameter across dome: 7 3/4"

Height of dome: 1 1/2"

So, the largest pan this lid will work well on is, say, 12 1/16".Beyond that, the rolled edge will prevent a stable fit.

Simply Calphalon Nonstick 11-Inch Square Griddle

Simply Calphalon Nonstick 11-Inch Square GriddleA really fine pan for those weekly pancake breakfasts. Not as heavy as the more expensive Calphalon pans, but works just as well. I use it with a bamboo spatula so expect it will last for many, many years. Only disappointment is that it was made in China, not Ohio, like my other Calphalon pans, but that probably explains the good price.

This griddle is great for grilling toasted sandwiches, making pancakes, even frying eggs 'sunny side up' on your stove top.Being 11", it fits nicely over one of the large burners of my stove, so it heats evenly.I can easily cook three 'quarter-cup-of-mixture' pancakes, or two sandwiches, or four eggs at a time. The low edge makes flipping very easy.

The exterior is a dark gray non-chip hard anodized aluminum, and does not seem flimsy in any way.The interior a non-stick interior surface, which makes clean up a breeze. As with all the pieces of the "Simply" Calphalon line, it has a chrome handle with a silicone inlay for heat transference, so you pick it up without a potholder.

I am glad I purchased this as an additional piece to my new "Simply" Calphalon set. This griddle (as is the "Simply" Calphalon 10-piece set I added it to) is made in China.

I have found for pancakes (and omelettes) you need to buy a good quality pan and this Caphalon has been great. It gives even heat, which is really important for good pancakes. It is a bit big to store but still smaller than a typical 12 inch large frying pan that most families have. I am very careful to use a Silicon Caphalon large spatula to keep the surface nice. But so far, so good, the surface has held up so far.

Calphalon Contemporary Nonstick 11-Inch Square Griddle

Our Calphalon griddle was "dead-flat" and worked very well when it was new; I would have rated it at 5 stars.

Unfortunately, after about a year or so, the bottom bulged downward; so much so, that it rocks to and fro on the very center of the griddle on our glass-top electric range. [My wife had always cleaned it in hot water, since we knew putting a hot griddle in cold water could cause this to happen.] It's still usable but most of the griddle's bottom no longer touches the range's glass top.

Click on Customer Images to see the "bulge".

We replaced the Calphalon with a Circulon Elite Nonstick 12" Round Griddle; its bottom doesn't bulge. The Circulon is also aluminum, but has a heavy bonded-on stainless steel bottom plate. The total thickness of the bottom is about 3/8", versus 1/8" for the Calphalon.
