Professional Heavy Duty Reversible Double Burner Cast Iron Grill Griddle

Professional Heavy Duty Reversible Double Burner Cast Iron Grill GriddleLooks like a double burner, cast iron, indoor grill cooking tool. And it is just that. Not pre-seasoned, but I prefer to do my own seasoning myself anyway. Works great, even heat, nice grill marks on food, easy, almost non-stick, cleaning. Fits in my cast iron cooking tools drawer with ease (36W x 22D)

Would I buy this again, YES. Would I recommend this to a friend, YES. Would I give it to my kids, NO, go buy your own!

Awesome! I have been desiring one of these and i found the right one. It fits over 2 burners and excellent on chicken, bacon and ham so far.

This grill pan is solid cast iron, long enough to cover completely the two burners on one side of my electric stove, and does what I want it to do--cook meats, fish and vegetables indoors with less fat. Does it really "grill" them? No, but it's not the fault of this particular pan. If you want real grilling, use a barbeque.Obviously you don't get that smokey flavor from this. But if you want to cook a steak or some onions and peppers for a fajita and you can't or don't want to fire up the barbeque, this will do a good job, searing the food where it touches it but not sauteing or frying it. It also uses a lot less energy than an oven, and takes less time.

I've found two downsides of grill pans. First, since it's not designed to be used with much, if any, fat, some foods will stick. I've had some problems cooking fish; when it comes time to flip or remove a salmon fillet, you may find yourself scraping vigorously with a spatula to avoid leaving that nice crust behind, stuck to the pan, even though you've brushed the fish with oil first. This may change eventually, if the pan gets thoroughly seasoned from use. (Of course, the alternative is a non-stick version, but no, thank you.)

Second, be sure you have a hood fan that works well, or a very well ventilated kitchen,or your house will likely fill with smoke. Putting a cover (or upside-down pot) over it may help.

But these issues are inherent with grill pans. This particular model is well designed and well made and reasonably priced. It's solid without weighing a ton, and I've had no problem with warping or cracking. It has a flat griddle on the other side, useful for pancakes or, for those who like them fried, burgers. Being cast iron, it should be washed without soap (so it maintains seasoning) and dried thoroughly before storage (or it will rust).

I have Lodge skillets and they are great. However, this griddle is poorly manufactured. I am wondering if the business that sold it to me purchased them as factory rejects. There are pinholes (for lack of a better word) in the cast iron, a dent in the griddle top, and the entire surface is quite rough, especially on the grill side.I would have returned it, however when I ordered it I didn't notice that it came from a non-Amazon supplier and thus I would have to pay for shipping costs to send it back.It weighs over 10 pounds so it costs almost as much to return it as I paid for it. I'll use it for a boat anchor or a prop under my car when I put up jack stands to work underneath the vehicle.Alternately, if you saw the movie "Tangled" you understand what I mean when I say that it would also work well as a Rapunzel pan.

My transaction was smooth and quick. The double sided cast iron griddle arrived on time and it was exactly as described.Very heavy and it fits perfectly across the 2 burners on my stove.I have fried tons of bacon on it already... to get that really deep slick seasoned surface.I would highly recommend this product and the price was great!

Anolon Advanced Hard Anodized Nonstick 14-Inch Mega Skillet

Anolon Advanced Hard Anodized Nonstick 14-Inch Mega SkilletI was so pleased to find this item.Comparable items from the private "Pampered Chef" Executive line are twice as expensive. It turns out that the Anolon Advanced appears to be an exact match to their pieces. The quality far exceeds the typical Wal-Mart, Target, Penney's offerings. The thickness of the anondized construction as well as the fabulous "Dupont Autograph 2" coating makes these pieces perfect for family life.Having that coating on the outside really insures the beauty of the pieces is maintained over time. The Hard anondized construction is great but if you had anything spatter on it (like olive oil), you would always see that after it was washed and dried. With Anonlon Advanced you get the best of both worlds! The skillet it super huge so no worries about capicity.

This piece is huge!! I can do so many different things in this pan. I love the tough non stick inside and out!! Clean up is incredible. And it goes in the oven up to 400 degrees. I did a huge fritata over the weekend for the family, we covered it in cheese and put it in the oven. It slid out of the pan onto my serving platter, cooked evenly thru out no burning on the bottom (have you ever seen that when you start something on top of the stove) wow!!! I can not say enough about this piece, it was a great choice for us!!

We received our skillet a couple of weeks ago, and we are thrilled with it! We've used it several times already, and like the way it fits perfectly on the large burners on the stove. The skillet heats evenly, and quickly, and the high sides avoid alot of food mishaps, like oil sloshing over the sides, and food falling out when you stir it. The rubber coated handles are a lifesaver as well, since you don't have to scramble for potholders when you have to move it from one location to another. The small handle on the opposite side of the pan makes lifting a breeze. The nonstick coating allows for quick and easy cleanup as well.

Just make sure you have a spot large enough to stow this skillet in. It is BIG!

UPDATE... 5 Months, We have used this skillet for just about everything and I highly recommend this Anolon Advanced Nonstick Hard-Anodized Aluminum Cookware to everyone looking for great, heavy duty, long lasting cookware for the following reasons...

I wanting a big skillet, I use it 2-3 times a week for just about everything you can think of cooking and even on my grill. Now I did things to this skillet for a reason before I was going to buy a new set, things you would never do too nonstick cookware. I have Deep-fried, Seared, and once burned this skillet to the point "I thought" I had destroyed it. Once I even dropped it when it was very hot "in cold water" putting it down on the edge of the sink to cool. I have owned dozens of nonstick cookware over 30 years of cooking. I always went with less costly pots and pans sets but found that the nonstick coating did not holdup at all on the skillets. I tried just about every brand of nonstick skillets made over 30 years. I also use, good old cast-iron which takes high heat very well but as anyone knows, is very heavy. Why am I saying all of this... Simple!

Anolon Hard-Anodized Aluminum Cookware is "Heavy Duty" but lightweight; The Advanced Nonstick Coating on my French Skillet has ~very slightly~ turned brown in the middle most likely from when I burned it. If this had been another brand, I would have thrown the skillet away because, once you burn the nonstick coating, it peels and scraps right off! My Anolon Advanced Skillet is heavy duty, has taken high heat, like cast-iron but weighs a quarter of what my 14-in cast-iron pan does.

However, what I have done is find that this cookware can standup to abuse like no other cookware I have ever used. This is what sold me on the advanced nonstick coating. I know with the right care, and uses, the Pots, Pans, and Skillets will last for years! This is why I purchased a whole set of Anolon Advanced Nonstick Hard-Anodized Aluminum 12-Piece Cookware Set. "Are they worth the higher cost?" After what I did to this skillet the past 4 months "I'm Sold" they are the best cookware for the price! ~will be updating this again~

Take care not to burn the pan as it is not recommended for greater than med-high heat.I used mine on high to stirfry and the nonstick coating changed color slightly.Nonstick coating is durable and works well, but not perfect. Also, be careful not to burn yourself on the metal portion of the handles on either side of the silicone.

UPDATE: 3/2009 I have had this pan for about a year and a half and it is going bad.The non-stick coating is no longer working well and I am going to have to order a new pan.The non-stick coating on this pan was always a good deal "rougher" feeling than the Revere-ware pan I purchased at the same time and now it is starting to let food stick. That's why I am on Amazon today, ordering a new (NOT Anolon) pan...

Wow, I more or less just wasted my $43 on this skillet.I'd return it, but it will do as a 12 inch skillet for me.But I am very disappointed.

I had a T-Fal skillet that measured about 11 inches at the base, with a gradual slope up the sides that would allow me to pile a fairly good amount of fish, or pork chops in the pan quite easily.I have no idea where it came from, I may have gotten it by default when I got married. It has served me well over the years.

But it has some scratches and the non-stick coating is getting rough (still doesn't stick, looks like it is slightly bubbling.)I read that this means it is time for a new pan.

So I came here looking for a slightly bigger pan to replace it, as I always seem to have one filet or chop that won't quite fit or I have to cram the food in tightly.

So I settled on the Anolon 14 inch skillet that I am reviewing here.I also ordered a Revere Convenience 12-Inch Skillet thinking it could replace my smaller 10 inch pan that was also showing some scratches.

I received the Anolon 14 inch skillet and hauled out my tape measure and it has roughly a 10 1/2 inch base. The same as the cheaper, and smaller sized Rever Convenience 12-Inch Skillet. The top is 14 inches in diameter, but the base is the same as my 12 inch skillet.

How is that helpful? This is just a more expensive, takes up more space on the stovetop skillet with the same cooking surface area of my 12 inch Revere skillet!

I am not happy at all with this. The sides are very gradually sloped, so I can see that this might be useful if you are using it as a WOK or for vegetables, but for meats that you want solidly on the cooking surface, this is just a bulky, space stealing pan.

You're better off with something else.

Calphalon Contemporary Nonstick 8-Inch Omelet Pan with Glass Lid

Calphalon Contemporary Nonstick 8-Inch Omelet Pan with Glass LidHaving so many other pans lose the non-stick surface after just a short time, it made "cents" for us to finally get one that would last. This is the perfect size for two for an omelet, or some chicken or fish. This is one of very few small pans that comes with a lid that and the excellent quality overall makes this pan well worth the price. And Amazon? The first pan we received was scratched! But it was obvious the scratch occurred when Calphalon packed the cover upside down before putting it in its own packaging, not from anything Amazon did. For this price, I expect a "perfect" item. Returns with Amazon are painless! A few clicks of the mouse and I printed out the return label; re-packed the pan and sent it back. BUT! Amazon had sent us a new pan which arrived at least a day BEFORE Amazon received our return! Amazon was one of the very first online merchants we started shopping with nearly from their first year. We are very satisfied customers who plan to stay Amazon customers. Thanks!

I have had this for some time now long enough to have made over a dozen omelets (which is all I've used it for) and it's been just great. Nice weight and feel, and thenon-stick is flawless.

UPDATE after two years:

This is my favorite kitchen pan. In addition to omelets, I use it to pan fry steaks. And it is so esthetically pleasing I leave it on the stove when I'm not using it just to show it off. Best pan ever!

After buying cheaper skillets over a number of years only to have the coating scratch and start to peel, I was delighted with the Calphalon skillets.I have had 2 of the skillets for almost 2 years now and haven't a scratch on either one of them.Great product. My only complaint is the handle on the lid tends to get too hot to handle with out a mitt or hot pad but feel that is a minor point overall.

This pan is a nice size for cooking eggs.Unfortunately the handle is really short -I would not want to use it if we cooked on a gas stove. The lid fits/works great.Overall a decent non-stick pan, but the handle should be longer.

Vintage Corning Visions Visionware Amber 10 Inch Skillet Frying Pan w/ Lid

Vintage Corning Visions Visionware Amber 10 Inch Skillet Frying Pan w/ Lid
  • Vintage Corning Visions Visionware Amber 10 Inch Skillet Frying Pan w/ Lid

I prefer a non-toxic pan for cooking which is why I purchased this glass cookware.

For cooking vegetables and items that don't stick really badly, the Visionware has been great. I use this particular pan mainly to sautee or steam vegetables and to fry bacon.

It cleans up nicely when you soak it and scrub it out with a plastic scrubber. I then place it in the dishwasher for a thorough cleaning.

I have used Visionware for about 22 years, including this frying pan. I don't know why Visions made a 10" and a 10 3/4" skillet but I have both sizes and I have several of each due to my tendancy to batch cook.

The frying pan has never failed or exploded on me.I use them once or twice a week.

However, there have been some complaints about exploding Visionware (Google is your friend).

Some incidents can be attributed to thermal shock such as running cool water in a hot pot, or placing the hot item on a cool surface, or putting the cookware on a heat source with no water in it.

Also, if you have chipped, cracked, or scratched cookware, it is recommended that you discard it.Be sure to check the tiny notches on the bottom of the pot.If there are any cracks emanating from the notches, I would advise you to discard the piece.

I would recommend carefully checking your cookware and discarding it if it is damaged.

You will want to avoid scratching it with metal utensils.

KitchenAid Gourmet Nonstick 10" Skillet, Gray

KitchenAid Gourmet Nonstick 10' Skillet, GrayThis 10 inch is my very first nonstick pan and a very good investment. It has good heat distribution for cooking eggs, omelettes, pasta and cheese sauces. Clean up is very easy, nothing sticks. The nonstick surface does not interfere with the taste of the food. The handle does not get hot, no pot holder.

I would recommend this nonstick to all cooks.

I have the 12" and 8 1/2" KitchenAid Gourmet hard-anodized skillets and just love them!!They are light enough for me to hold up with one hand while I scrape or scoop the cooked food out with the other hand.Although light-weight, they cook very evenly and are a breeze to clean up.I want this 10" skillet to complete my set, but I'm waiting until Amazon stocks it and will buy it from them. These are replacing my heavier-weight Farberware skillets that I needed my husband's help with at serving time, yet these new skillets cook just as well or better than the heavier ones. And they're much easier to clean.I love these!!

Anolon Advanced Bronze 11-Inch, 5-Quart Covered Sauteuse with Glass Lid

Anolon Advanced Bronze 11-Inch, 5-Quart Covered Sauteuse with Glass LidWe love this pot! It turns out we use it far more often than we expected, because it holds a lot, has straight sides so a good flat area on the bottom, and yet isn't too big or too heavy to be a good everyday choice. Not to mention it is quite good looking. The lid is heavy and fits well, the handles are sturdy, and the base is nice and thick.

The one thing I would say is, silicone coated handles are a really nice feature and this pot doesn't have them. But, that being said, we still love the pot.

As it turns out, this pot is a "Promotional" item given to people hosting parties, or some such thing. It is not as heavy as the other items in the full set.Additionaly, it lacks the "rubber" lid handle. This handle is just metal and gets very hot.Otherwise, it is a fine pot.I would rather have had the item though.

I have purchased 8 of these in the regular non Bronze color. It is an excellent everyday piece and I was sorely disappointed when the two new Bronze ones I ordered arrived. These pans are not completely flat and slightly protrude up in the center. Both have the same exact defect so I'm hesitant to send them back for an exchange. I am returning them as I have an electric cooktop that doesn't allow for even cooking or frying. The original ones I purchased were so good that I bought them for my parents, and an aunt and we have all used them far in excess of all other pots combined. I am ordering the original non Bronze model as replacements.

I have lots of copper in my kitchen so I was happy to find this set, but then disappointed when it arrived. The chipped off area was small and I could have lived with it if I'd had more confidence that the chipping wouldn't continue and end up affecting all pieces in the set. I had expected better quality from a name like Farberware, a brand that has served me well in the past. I decided it was better to just return it rather than ask for an exchange.

All-Clad 5112 Stainless 12-Inch Fry Pan

All-Clad 5112 Stainless 12-Inch Fry PanI fry eggs in my All-Clad pans all the time. Some tips:

1.Mmake sure the pan is impeccably clean.I give it a quick once over with a soft sponge and Cameo Stainless Steel Cleanser before I fry eggs in it.

2.Heat the pan for 2 minutes before adding the oil.I find that butter is better than oil for eggs.If I'm on a diet, I use a little oil with just a touch of butter.

3.Let the oil heat before adding the eggs.

4.Let the eggs set before moving the pan around.Once the white is set, you can swirl the eggs around in the pan to make sure they release before you give them a flip.If perchance they stick a little, I use a small, heat resistant flexible spatula to gently coax the sticky places off the pan.

This pan is great, easy to cook with, very even heating, and very light for its size compared to cast iron, solid steel, or copper bottom pans.

It seems a little pricey, but once you cook with it a while, you realize why it is so good.

Metal handles help when doing oven pan roasting -they don't melt like plastic ones do, but still stay cool on the stove top -unlike some other brands metal handles.

You get a good fond with it, so you have lots of good stuff left for making gravies and pan sauces with.

No non-stick stuff to flake off.Metal handles are rivoted on, so they don't fall off like those cheap bolted on plastic ones (anything by Faberware) or the welded on metal ones.

The only caution is don't cook things like eggs and pancakes in it -they stick like crazy no matter how much oil you use..... buy a non-stick pan for that sort of stuff.

OK.Here is how you cook eggs in a stainless steel pan.

1)Preheat the pan to 130 degrees F (takes about 90 seconds on HIGH on an electric top).

2)Set cook temp to medium-low to maintain that temp.

3)Add a small amount of oil or butter.

4)PRE-WARM THE EGGS!This is the secret.Cold eggs taken directly from the refrigerator will always stick.Either let them sit on the counter for 10 minutes.Or run them under hot water for 1 minute.

5)Crack the eggs into the pan.Let them cook 1 minute.

6)Slightly reduce heat and let them firmly "set" before flipping.

7)Flip with the flexible thin stainless steel spatula.

For those still having problems, do this. After adding the oil, sprinkle a very light layer of salt on the bottom of the pan with the oil.Technically the salt is not recommended long term, as heat + salt can corrode stainless steel. In my experience doing this on occassion helps the pan retain its seasoning and non-stick properties.

You have to keep stainless steel pans VERY clean to do non-stick cooking on them like eggs.Occasionally you are going to get a thin layer of food build-up which needs stainless steel pad scrubbing to remove.

Cooking eggs is no problem in stainless steel, just takes more patience than Teflon. The eggs taste MUCH better on stainless steel than Teflon.

You need a good HEAVY pan with an aluminum core like this All-Clad to get good heat management.Light weight pans don't have the heat capacity and when those cold foods/eggs hit the pan, they will stick.

Good luck!

I have owned this pan for several years now, along with many other All-Clad pans. I love them.Pricy yes, but once you buy them you never have to replace them, which makes them comparatively cheap! (in price only, not in quality)

While this pan won't work just like a nonstick pan, it does cook evenly and foods (even eggs and pancakes) won't stick if you follow the basic rule.

First, heat the pan. After the pan has come up to temperature you can add the oil.Only add the food after the oil has heated.

Before I gave in and bought the expensive All-Clad pans, I was going through a set of pans every few years or so.I know for sure that I have bought the last set of cookware I will ever need. That is a wonderfull feeling!

If you are hesitant to spend the price for All-Clad stainless, think back over the last 10 or 15 years.Add up what you have paid for all the pans you had to keep replacing!

Rachael Ray Porcelain Enamel Nonstick 10-Piece Cookware Set, Red

Rachael Ray Porcelain Enamel Nonstick 10-Piece Cookware Set, RedI have wanted to purchase Rachael Ray cookware for many years and kept waiting mostly because of the cost. I finally decided it was an investment and I definitely think that it was well worth the wait. The pans are very easy to clean, the food always comes out evenly cooked. It might just be my imagination, but I swear that compared to my old pans the food cooks faster and comes out better. I've cooked chicken, turkey, and pork and everything comes out moist and perfectly cooked. They're heavy but not too heavy to pick up with one hand when transferring the pans to a counter or sink. I love the color and the handles on the lids are great because they have the rubber handle so they're never hot. I don't have a ton of time after a long day to cook and clean. These make cooking and clean up a breeze.

I am not a chef and not the greatest cook, but I purchased these pans becasue I was tired of replacing cheap pans all the time. I love these pans. I have had them for about a month and I use them daily. They still look like brand new. They wash up wonderfully. They fry evenly and they are durable. There is no food or cooking spray cooked onto the handles or outsides of the pans. The handles of the pans and lids stay cool to the touch and the lids and handles are not attached by screws so they won't come loose or fall off. For the price I would say these are a great buy and I would buy them again.

Buy Rachael Ray Porcelain Enamel Nonstick 10-Piece Cookware Set, Red Now

Although I admire Rachael Ray, her name on this set did not influence my decision to buy it.I did a great deal of research before purchasing it; I weighed the pros and cons and the pros won out.The pros are light weight pans, a non stick surface, silicone handles, glass lids, porcelain enamel exterior and a gorgeous red color and I love the pan sizes in this set. Many sets only include a 1 and 2 quart size, these are 1 1/2 and 3 quart in size. Also, many sets only include a 5 quart Dutch oven and this one is 6 quart.I especially love the chef's sauté pan and use it most often, it is very versatile. The cons are: not dishwasher safe but they do wash up very easily; they are only oven safe to 350 degrees and it is recommended to only use them over medium heat.Just using medium heat and limiting the oven temperature did initially concern me but the lighter weight pans heat up so quickly that it's not necessary to use a higher heat.I love this set and I would recommend it to all.

After using these for more than a month, I am pretty satisfied with the set.The non-stick is phenominal, I don't even have to use butter or spray for eggs!I try to wash them immediately after use, but on a busy morning I let the egg pan sit until lunch, and it still came right off!And the cooking is very even, my pancakes have never been prettier!I do hand wash them, and have not had any issues with either the non-stick or enamel coming off.I'm also very careful with stacking them in the cabinet, keeping the lid upside down on top of the pots and stacking them, as to not scratch the inside.I also love that you can stick the whole pan in the oven for roasting. And I only use plastic or bamboo, never metal as to not scratch the surface!

For the cons: We have an electric stove, and the enamel on the bottom of the pan makes it slide around some.I wish it were corrugated or something on the bottom to give it some traction. Also, Rachael Ray is etched into the rubber on the handles, and even after about a month, I can tell they are getting darker from not being able to clean inside the little nooks and crannies. And I don't like that the handles are attached by two screws on the inside of the pan, gunk gets stuck in there while cooking (although it comes off easily with cleaning, you just have to make sure you dig all around them!).And the handles on big pot are too short. When draining pasta, I actually have to stop for a second because of the steam hurting my hands.I also wish it had a 12" saute pan instead of 10", I find that some of my family dishes just barely fit, and require a lot of stirring to get everything cooked. And the edges of the pots are easily dented everytime I tap the spoon or spatula on the side.

Although I have listed more cons than pros, my complaints are minimal. This is non-stick cookwear that is actually non-stick.It cooks beautifully, and I feel better about my food not having to add so much, if any, butter or oil. Some people have complained about the enamel scratching off or fading, but this doesn't effect the functionality of the cookwear. It might to always be as beautiful as it is when you take it out of the box, but as long as it cooks my food without burning or constantly sticking, I'm very satisfied with this set.

I purchased these several months ago and i have no complaints. My wife and I use these at least 4 times a week and they still look brand new. We were worried that the color would scratch off onto the grill of our gas range, but at this point the bottoms of the pots and pans still look like new. The non-stick has not scratched and works as expected. We have not put them in the dishwasher and that may be why they still look so good. Overall this set has everything we need. We have recommended to many of our friends.

Bayou Classics Cast Iron Covered Skillet - 3 qt.

Bayou Classic 7440 3-Quart Deep Cast Iron Skillet with LidThey don't make cast-iron like they used to, but this skillet is great. It comes unseasoned, but that's easily remedied.First, wash the new skillet with soap and water to remove the packing wax. Then buy a small tub of pure lard (don't use thin oil), wipe it all over the inside and outside of the skillet (except for the very bottom), put it on a cookie sheet right-side-up and bake it at 200 degrees for 3 hours (the lower temp for a longer time allows it to penetrate better).Wipe out the excess oil, then when completely cool, wipe it again, and you're done!I store my oil in it and just scrape the bottom clean before each use (to remove old batter pieces that will burn).I have one deep skillet for frying fish and another for chicken and pork steaks.Remember to never use soap on cast iron or it will rust and you'll have to season it all over again -use your stove heat to kill the germs. There are care instructions included with the skillet.

We purchased this and use it daily in the kitchen and on the grill!!

The only caution I would offer is: This is NOT a pre-seasoned pan!!You will have to season it yourself.I didn't realize this when i purchased this skillet.I enjoyed the process of seasoning it, so i didn't mind, but it caught me off guard.

IRON PANS ARE GREAT, BUT THIS PAN WASN'T SEASONED PROPERLY.IT SEAMS AS IF THEY RUBBED SOME GREASE ONTO IT, AND CALLED IT SEASONED.I EVEN PLACED THE PAN IN THE OVEN TO HELP SEASON IT MORE, AND ALL I GOT WAS A LOT OF SMOKE IN MY HOUSE.IT TOOK HOURS TO GET THE SMOKE OUT.

I ALSOFIND THAT THEY RUST VERY EASILY.MY OLD, OLD PAN WORKS PERFECTLY. I WIPE IT OUT WITH A DAMP DISH TOWEL, USE A PAPER TOWEL TO DRY IT, AND IT IS READY TO USE.

Cajun Cookware Skillets 3-piece Seasoned Cast Iron Skillet Set - Gl10497s

Cajun Cookware Skillets 3-piece Seasoned Cast Iron Skillet Set - Gl10497sThis three piece set of cast iron skillets is definately a great value. It meets all expectations.Items were pre-seasoned and hold up very well.

They came pre-seasoned as advertised. You know a pan is great when egg yolk just beads off of it and scoops right up onto your spatula.I've fried eggs on just about every other type of pan and usually if you accidentally break one, you're through -everything sticks -NOT the case here.

I've been cooking with this set pretty much daily since I got it, and I'm also already feeling the benefits of getting enough dietary iron! (a known result of using cast iron cookware).

Mr. Wilcox, sorry, but next time you should probably bust out a ruler before you decide to buy something.Differences between what you think twelve inches looks like and what it actually does look like are not the seller's fault.

These are a great gift idea! They came carefully packed and ready to use. They say that they are pre-seasoned, but I seasoned them myself when they arrived anyway. They are a great value and are quite durable.

Cuisinart Professional Tri-Ply Stainless Steel Cookware (12 Piece Set)

Cuisinart Professional Tri-Ply Stainless Steel CookwareBought this very same set from Costco a few months ago. They sold out quickly and no longer sell it.I felt I had hit the jackpot because it was something like $179!It was an impulse buy since I had been looking at higher end cookware ($500 or more) and had decided it wasn't in the budget at that time.Did a few quick searches on my smartphone before buying.Reviews on a similar Cuisinart multiclad set were stellar. One of the reviews said this set was only slightly different than the other.I could tell from the demo pieces in the store that it was very good quality. They are solid and look to be very well made -with the possible exception of the basket part of the steamer insert...it is a bit thinner than others I have seen, but seems that it will hold up well if you don't do something impulsive like sit or stand on it.

And it IS very good quality for the price.Even with the power gas burner, I find that it can take a while to bring a boil compared to the regular pots we had before.Cuisinart instructs you not to use these pieces on high heat because the superior heat conduction will cause food to be prone to burn easily and therefore may be hard to clean.I have not had that issue at all.We find ourselves using high heat to achieve a boil or browning, and then turning down the heat to low or medium and using the lid and that works quite well.

Cleans up easily. I used the steamer insert on the stockpot to corral all of the debris used to make chicken stock, and it served the purpose very well.Nothing stuck or burned at the bottom of the pot despite cooking the stock for 2 days (boiling/simmering at various times). I initially overfilled the pot so there were spillovers between the pot and steamer insert early on that I didn't bother to clean until the stock was finished today (with the insert I was able to make 4 quarts -and could have made 5 or 6 without the insert). The residue was was baked-on and dark brown so I expected it to be hard to clean.Just wiped right off with a nylon abrasive sponge.

We fried some sausage links in the covered 4 QT saute pan.The residue was a bit baked on but that washed right off with a sponge in hot soapy water.

I like the glass lids. They are attractive, and being able to look in without opening the lid is nice, though with any condensation you will have to lift the lid anyway to really see what's going on.Other reviewers have noted you have to be extra careful with glass lids because they can shatter if dropped, so I try to be sure to put them only in safe places on the counter.

I'm a big fan of tri-ply now and will never buy anything else. We've had multiclad bottoms only and they don't compare to fully tri-ply.I can't give a long-term report on this cookware, but so far we have really liked it.I have never had All-Clad or anything else high-end so I really can't compare. One of the reviews I had seen on Amazon before purchasing this set said that it is in the same league in terms of how it cooks.

A few notes from the box:

* all-range capable (if I remember correctly from the brochure it is oven-safe but not sure about the lids)

* stay-cool handles...

* dishwasher safe (we hand-wash to preserve the finish)

* tapered rims for drip-free pouring

An aside:you can occasionally find single pieces of Calphalon tri-ply on deep discount at Macy's -less than half price if you avail yourself of the discounts and coupons. That's one way to add to your tri-ply collection.Calphalon appears to be a notch higher than this set -though I would wager it cooks the same. The workmanship/styling on Calphalon just looks better.I'm on the hunt for tri-ply pieces at an affordable price now! Mix 'n match is fine with me as long as the quality and price are there!

Hope this helps.Get a set if you can!Even at $200-300, knowing what I know now, I would definitely purchase this set even at those prices, because I have never seen a tri-ply set even close to being in that price range. If you do, snap it up!

Very sturdy pots and pans. No issues with them at all. For sure would recommend to others if asked about.

5.5" CAST IRON PLATE STAND COOLING RACK / PLANT STAND

5.5' CAST IRON PLATE STAND COOLING RACK / PLANT STANDIt's supposed to be a black cast iron trivet, but it's actually a dark blue painted metal thing. It's still useful, I just don't like being lied to.

My grandmother was a baker, her pies were delicious. When my grandma passed, the cast iron racks she used to cool her pies were lost, when I found these cooling racks on Amazon, they looked quite similar to those my grandmother used. The racks I ordered were very reasonably priced and arrived quickly, my only disappointment is that the racks are smaller than I'd anticipated. Of course, that is my own fault for not checking the size more closely, the cooling racks are great and will work!!

Personal Microwave Breakfast Maker

Nordic Ware Microwave Eggs 'n Muffin Breakfast PanI take a small bowl, mix two large eggs with a splash of milk (don't over beat it, just get it mixed well) and pour it into the gray side of the container.Close the lid, and microwave it for a minute and a half (our microwave says it's 850 watts if that helps). The steam will cause a little bit of popping noise here and there. Some steam might shoot out from under the lid and onto the bottom of the microwave, but I haven't had any issues with egg splattering inside the microwave.

Before opening the thing, I flip it over and give it a gentle shake so the egg falls into the lid. Then I open it up and flip the egg onto some bread. This way I have better aim to get the egg on the bread instead of shaking it over the bread to get the egg out of the cooker. Not that its hard to get out, but that little bit of a shake can make your egg land off center of the bread.I'm just OCD enough that my egg must be centered. This thing is small enough that you can set your bread or muffin on top of the cooked egg and then flip.

As far as cleaning goes...a little bit of egg will be stuck to the inside of the cooker, but it's not baked on hard.It cleans out easily enough.Just wipe the egg out and toss the thing in the dishwasher.I haven't tried using cooking spray in it yet, but you might want to try it if you want this to be even easier to clean out.

It's just a nice, handy little microwave container that's really inexpensive. The way I do it, it makes a nice thick fluffy disc of egg which is perfect for making sandwiches. It's hot enough when you first take it out of the microwave that if you throw a slice of cheese on there it will melt enough to be tasty. It doesn't taste the same as frying an egg in a pan on the stove, but it's not supposed to, and it's not going to, and it's healthier than frying anyway.

Nordic Ware also makes a microwave egg broiler which can hard boil 4 eggs at a time in the microwave. If you like to hard boil eggs (or even soft boil them too) I would also recommend that product.

This is an awesome product! It makes great fluffy quality eggs in under two minutes for a tasty egg muffin. Cooking time varies greatly by microwave wattage. It took me a few attempts to perfect the time. I have a 700 watt microwave so I cook mine for 1:45. My father has a 900 watt oven and cooks his for 1:15. So many microwave cooking items fail to meet expectations, but the Nordic Ware egg muffin cooker does what it claims. Egg quality tastes fabulous. Lots of possibilities for additions, like cheese. Super easy cleanup for this high performance convenience. Highly recommended!

This is very handy indeed and works like a charm. I'm not really sure what the problem was with Penmouse's cooker, but this one closes perfectly and leaves absolutely zero mess in the microwave. Not only that, but the cookware itself cleans up very easily. The egg literally just peels right out of the dish, which makes it very simple to use and is an added bonus when making your breakfast sandwich.

It does fit a muffin perfectly, but also just plain toasted bread. It is about the size of a piece of lunch meat.

I've added all kinds of veggies to it with great success, although if you add a lot of extras you should only use one egg instead of two, otherwise it will reach over the lip of the dish. You could experiment yourself just to be sure. It also warns you that any meat you wish to add should be cooked before cooking the egg because the cooking time for an egg is much faster than meat.

You can use two eggs but I would recommend that if you are using jumbo eggs, or adding a lot of extras, that you mix it in a bowl prior to putting it in the cookware dish. Two jumbo eggs alone nearly reach the lip of the dish, so it will get messy when trying to beat the eggs (but only when beating, not cooking). A bowl is a simple solution and works perfectly.

When using two jumbo eggs alone (with a little milk), the cooked eggs are light and fluffy and about an inch thick. It really does make an excellent breakfast sandwich.

This is my first Nordic Ware purchase and I've always stayed away from microwave cooking, but you can be assured that I'll start microwaving more often and I'll definitely be making more Nordic Ware purchases. I had no idea how easy this was.

I love this, I bought 2 of these. One for hubby & myself.

Spray the bottom lightly, mix your 1 egg & a touch of water, do not over stir.

I have a 1,000 watt microwave.

I cook on high 45 sec. stir & cook another 25 sec.

No sticking, just rinse & done.

This product is awesome. It makes cooking breakfast sandwiches completely trivial -about two minutes (including the time to open the refrigerator, break the eggs, etc.) and you're good to go. I usually do one whole egg and another eggwhite and scramble them together. Put those in the (1000-watt) microwave for about 30 seconds, then open it up, mix the eggs a little more, and throw a slice of ham on top and cook it for another 30 seconds then put it on a toasted bagel with cheese. It's really easy.

Other reviewers have complained about the lid not staying down -I think this may be a function of trying to poach eggs rather than scramble them. I've never had a problem with the lid staying down, but then I always scramble the eggs. Also, I've found the clean-up very easy -whatever egg remnants are left don't stick and you can clean the cooker in the sink or dishwasher no problem.

This isn't exactly an item for gourmet cooking, but for getting bagelor english muffin-shaped scrambled eggs cooked quickly and easily, it's highly recommended.

8 Person Stelvio Raclette Party Grill with Granite Stone

8 Person Stelvio Raclette Party Grill with Granite StoneI was very disappointed to unpack this item and only find the granite top included. The pictures show both a granite top and a metal top.The description also states it come with "Reversible non-stick top for grilling; flip over to cook eggs, pancakes, and crepes."That reversible top was not included and I'm waiting to hear what the company is going to do about it.

This is our second raclette by Swissmar and I was excited to try the granite top.I quickly learned that it doesn't get as hot as the reversible metal top on my other raclette and it doesn't cook meat or vegetables nearly as fast.I know I can put it in my over to get it hotter than the element can do and then put it on the raclette but the element should be able to heat it enough to cook as the metal grills cook.Because there is no lip on the granite top, it is difficult to turn things over with a spatula. The cutout around the grill for juices to run into fills up quickly and then the grill overflows onto the table or counter. We love our raclette with the metal top and use it 2 -3 times a week and have created lots of great recipes for it.We were excited to get the second one so we could have people over for dinner as the first is way too small for 8 people. Now we have two but one doesn't cook well because it only has the granite top.
