King Kooker CIFP14 14-Inch Cast Iron Skillet

King Kooker CIFP14 14-Inch Cast Iron SkilletThis item is not as pictured, nor is it as described. Although the difference between the picture and the actual skillet I received is immaterial--as mine has a helper handle on the outer end from the pan handle. But the skillet is not 14 inches. It is not even 13. In fact, the box it is boxed in is only 13 inches. The pan is not quite 12 3/4 inches.

I find it amazing that there are no review like this to be read about the pan. But the pan I received was evidently returned by someone else because of this same issue because the box was ripped open significantly when I lifted it out of the mailing box from Amazon. So it was not reboxed to be sent to me to even cover this up.

I just wonder if the seller is somehow able to keep negative posts from showing. I will be calling Amazon if mine does not show.

Instructions to "season" cast iron would have been helpful. Those should be enclosed with cast iron purchases to insure successful use.

Proctor Silex 54004 Stainless Steel 11 Inch Covered Chicken Fryer

Proctor Silex 54004 Stainless Steel 11 Inch Covered Chicken FryerThis skillet is very thin metal, when half full and lifted it bends. I originally thought the handle was loose, but it was the skillet bending, It doesn't clean easily at all, and the outer handle opposite the lifting handle is about to come off. The lid is fine, but

with this skillet being and odd size I'm probably just going to have an odd lid after I pitch the skillet. Would appreciate suggestion for a low priced similar skillet.

T-fal A821SA94 Initiatives Nonstick Inside and Out Dishwasher Safe 10-Piece Cookware Set, Black

T-fal A821SA94 Initiatives Nonstick Inside and Out Dishwasher Safe 10-Piece Cookware Set, BlackT-Fal's nonstick cookware is the best for the price. You can pay a lot more for nonstick pans:they'll be heavy and the nonstick feature is the same.If you're thinking that buying more expensive nonstick pans will make the nonstick finish last longer, you'd be wrong. That's what I thought.I have several expensive nonstick pans and the nonstick will peel off of those just as quickly as any other nonstick pan. What really makes the difference with nonstick is HOW YOU TREAT IT.Read the Do's And Don'ts when you get your pans.Never heat above medium. It'll take longer to bring water to a boil or to stir-fry, but it WILL get hot enough.Never wash your nonstick in the dishwasher and wait until it cools to hand wash.Always use plastic or wood utensils:never use anything that will scratch the surface.Don't use spray release cooking agents as you don't need them and they can cause a film to develop on the surface.Never let your pots boil dry use a timer to remind you.

Thinking of stainless steel?Forget it.It's a headache to cook and clean with as everything sticks to it's surface unless you want to add a lot of fat to your cooking.Leave that for the professional cooks and save yourself the headaches.

I can still remember my Grandmother showing me a T-Fal pan that she bought and saying it was the best pan she ever owned.I just bought this set for my son who is moving into his own home and that's the confidence that I have in it.This is the quality and price point you're looking for.

P.S.When I first opened the set, I thought there was something wrong with it:there are little holes in the lids with no cover or vent. That's how it's supposed to be!Those tiny holes let a little steam out so that your pots won't boil over as easily. But, if you turn it up high enough and ignore it, it can still boil over.If it does, at least the outsides of these pans are constructed to withstand food stains. You'll love this set.If you treat it right, it'll last many years.

P.P.S.For a large family, I would buy some additional pieces:a large frying pan with high sides and a lid for large meals, frying chicken and stir-frying and a 3.5 qt saucepan for making large amts of rice, popcorn, chili, etc.I also bought a splatter cover for the large frying pan in the set because it is a regular fry pan with low sides and you'll get some splatter on your stove if you don't use a cover.

P.P.P.S. IMHO, the vegetable steamer that is included with this set is worthless. There's nothing wrong with it, but I haven't cooked veggies this way since 1980 and I wouldn't put the steel feet in my nonstick cookware.I would just use a microwavable bowl and the microwave to steam vegetables.

I got these as part of our wedding registry here on Amazon and with about 2 months of use I am very happy with this set.More so than any other set of pots/pans that I own.

Here are some pro's:

1 The non-stick is truly non-stick and so easy to use.The fact that the outside is non-stick also makes cleaning up easy.

2 The handle really does stay cool, even near the edge on gas burners

3 The size of all 9 pieces are very convenient

4 Easy to wash due to non-stick and dishwasher safe

5 Thermospots assists in cooking evenly

6 Oven safe

Great price and value.

You can't go wrong with this set.It is exceptional. We gave our old set away when these came in and have'nt regretted it.

The coating is great, nothing sticks. They look sharp and perform very well. The lids are great because you can open them if needed or just leave them closed. They are so easy to clean. We are very pleased with them.

We have purchased several t-fal products over the years, including the more expensive professional grade products. In August we purchased a set of frying pans, which worked fine for about 3 months and then the coating started to bubble up and peel off. When I called consumer services, the representative informed me that I would have to pay to ship the defective frying pans back to them at my own expense.T-fal's website even suggests that I spend extra to insure the package. The representative informed me that t-fal would not pay for shipping because they would not know if the product was defective until they received it.Of course, no offer was made to reimburse me once they received the defective product and to make matters worse, I was told that had I returned the product within 30 days they would have provided a shipping label.I guess if it is within 30 days they don't care if it is defective or not.As these particular frying pans only cost us $25 dollars, spending close to $15 to return them did not make any sense. When I asked to speak to a manager, I was told that no one was available.Needless to say, I threw the pans out and will not be purchasing any t-fal products in the future.I have lost all confidence in the product and respect for the company.

Garcima 18-Inch Stainless Steel Paella Pan, 46cm

Garcima 18-Inch Stainless Steel Paella Pan, 46cmThis is the second paella pan I have purchased. The first one was smaller and was carbon steel because I didn't want to make a big investment on a pan that I wasn't sure I was going to use. I have been making paella for the past 5 years every few months and I serve it at an annual Christmas dinner party that my friends and family always look forward to attending. My old pan was getting worn out and was no longer creating a beautiful Socarrat on the bottombut was burning it instead. I finally bit the bullet and purchased this gorgeous stainless steel pan that is 3" larger in diameter than my old one. I tried it out as soon as I got it. Absolutely perfect! I thought it would be really heavy once it was full of ingredients but that is not the case. Once again the Socarrat is perfectly toasted and the cleanup was painless. I used a little bit of barkeeper's and a spongeit came clean very quickly. I can't wait to use it this weekend so our party guests can once again experience a perfectly cooked paella!

Old Mountain 10160 Pre-Seasoned 11-3/4-Inch Cast Iron Loaf Pan

Old Mountain 10160 Pre-Seasoned 11-3/4-Inch Cast Iron Loaf PanI own a LOT of cast iron..in fact, I probably own most of what Lodge has put out and typiually only purchase Lodge but I needed some additional bread pans and since cannot find Lodge brand any longer I purchased 2 from Sante Cabin and 2 from Old Mountain. Old Mountain arrived quickly, well wrapped/packaged and completely treated. Washed and used to encounter bread that dropped effortlessly from the pan without need for barely any prompting. After a few more uses the finish was even better...perfect.

The Sante Cabin cast iron arrived a few days later, washed to prepare for use and pan immediately began to rust. Description indicates "true seasoned" and "ready to use right out of the box" but also denotes "non-seasoned". It is NOT seasoned and rusted immediately after washing. On the other hand, the two Old Mountain loaf/bread pans were perfect. WAshed easily, zero rust, true non-seasoning and a beautifully shaped loaf.

Excellent purchase!

It is a good pan for baking bread but its description fooled me.I thought I was getting a nice long baking pan at 11 3/4 inches but that is the measurement which includes the handles. This is actually a 9 x 5.5 inch pan. Drat!

Buy Old Mountain 10160 Pre-Seasoned 11-3/4-Inch Cast Iron Loaf Pan Now

I have been looking for an alternative to non-stick for some time, and I finally decided on cast iron for a healthy replacement. After reading other reviews, I decided to try the Old Mountain one. I followed the instructions for new out of box care, and after using it for the first time, I noticed some of the finish came off onto my loaf. I had also noticed an odd smell coming from the pan. I was concerned about what the factory "pre-seasoning" was made of (it's made in China), so I scrubbed it off and followed the instructions for re-seasoning. I used grapeseed oil, and it worked perfectly!

Despite the issues with first time use, this pan does get 5 stars as the smell disappeared after the re-seasoning, and everything I have made (from wheat bread to banana bread) has popped right out with perfect, golden crusts. My recommendation is to re-season it before first use, it's definitely worth the money and improves after every use.

Want Old Mountain 10160 Pre-Seasoned 11-3/4-Inch Cast Iron Loaf Pan Discount?

We have owned two of these cast iron bread loaf pans since May 2010. We bake our homemade bread at least once per week, five loaves at a time in our smallish electric home oven. When we bake we use one glass, one ceramic, one untreated stone, and two old mountain cast iron bread pans. There is absolutely no question that our stone pan (Pampered Chef) and our cast iron pans are the best. The only problem with the stone pan is that it's too large. We recently broke first the glass pan and now the ceramic pan and decided to get two more cast iron pans to replace them. They just can't be beat. Perfect loaf size, perfect crumb, great rising because the dough climbs up the slightly roughened surface, and the bread always slips ever so easily from the pan leaving behind a perfect crust that remains moist but firm. Our bread is 100% whole grain without any oils and the bread is consistently delicious and beautiful every time. I would say that the only thing to watch out for is burns. Be careful removing the pans from the oven and for a spell afterwards because they will burn your skin as they retain heat. Ouch! But, generally if that happens at all it only happens once, right? Enjoy! By the way... One reviewer said to wait to find a Lodge cast iron pan (impossible but good luck!), but I say why wait when you could be getting so much pleasure out of baking and eating right now!

Rachael Ray Stainless Steel II 6-Quart Covered Chef Pan with Helper Handle, Orange

Rachael Ray Stainless Steel II 6-Quart Covered Chef Pan with Helper Handle, Orangeawesome for the induction cook top! Like a slow cooker. Rachael Ray is the best! Love her show and food ideas!

I had bought the set that this matches but it did not come with this pan so I decided that I would pick this one up separately and after looking everywhere locally found that I could buy it here competitively priced.

I love this set but as anyone that has ever cooked with stainless steel will tell you; it's not the same as cooking on something non stick and requires more attention to heat etc…

I love the handles; they have a silicone or similar material covering the stainless handle and are angled in a way that makes pouring much more comfortable than most department store pots and pans. The clear lids are great and have similar handles so you can see what your cooking and not burn your fingers when removing the lids.

Bayou Classic 7417 12-Quart Cast-Iron Oval Roaster with Domed Lid

Bayou Classic 7417 12-Quart Cast-Iron Oval Roaster with Domed LidThis pan (After a lot of cleaning and seasoning) made the best Thanksgiving Turkey ever...It was moist and perfect and a few guests told me it was the best they had ever had.I had never used Bayou as I love Lodge but they did not offer a roaster in this size (needed something for a 18lb turkey that JUST fit.)The quality of the cast iron was OK and needed more seasoning than a lodge that are pre seasoned but it did a GREAT JOB...I have cooked 2 small chickens in it and they were great as well...

After reading the other reviews I was a bit skeptical, but the problems seemed associated only with the inadequate packaging for shipping. With Amazon's free shipping, I thought I would just have them send me a replacement if necessary.

The unit arrived without shipping damage. But it contained a large crack which was due to the original casting operation. Also the cover didn't fit.I decided to try ordering the Camp Chef to see if that was any better.

On the packing slip, it states that the S&H was over $26.Amazon must be losing money on just shipping this unit, let alone having to pay for the return shipment via USPS!I can't believe that Amazon doesn't either pull the product or make Bayou Classic fix their horrendous QC problems.

I purchased this roaster from another retailer because I had a coupon but wanted to rate it here since I depend on Amazon reviews when it comes to making purchases.

The first thing I did was take sandpaper to it & scrub it with hot soapy water to remove what was on it. After several times of seasoning I decided to try it out before Thanksgiving.I fried a chicken using two burners on my stove top and it turned out great, no sticking. I fried in it a couple more times to help with extra seasoning then it was time to do the turkey.

Thanksgiving, I roasted a 24# turkey. The turkey fit nicely in the pan and came out very moist and flavorful. I wasn't able to use the lid with a turkey this large so I used heavy duty foil instead. I'm sure with a little smaller turkey the lid will work fine.

The casting's not the best, but then again it's not Lodge. The lid doesn't fit perfectly, but it does fit and has a lip so it won't slid off and as with any cast iron, it's very, very heavy. Overall I'm extremely happy with this roaster and glad I made the purchase.

With this cast iron roaster you can do it all. I use it in the oven, over a fire, in a fire, on the cooktop, in a gas grill, over propane flames, etc.We used it for fryin fish, cooking biscuits, roasting pot roast, baking cakes, and onand on. It is very heavy, so be warned. But you can used it everywhere to cook nearly anything.

Bayou Classic 7417 12-Quart Cast-Iron Oval Roaster with Domed LidI purchased this roaster twice and each time it arrived broken and/or cracked. It arrived both times in a thin card board box with two plastic straps around it.The packaging was obviously insufficient.Even though this roaster wasn't as substantial as the Emeril cast iron smoker, it seemed like a good buy. After two tries, with a request for additional packaging after the first broken roaster, I guess this is what it is.You take a chance.I don't recommend this roaster.

Guy Fieri 12-in. Pre-Seasoned Light Weight Cast Iron Fry Pan, Hot Rod Red

Guy Fieri 12-in. Pre-Seasoned Light Weight Cast Iron Fry Pan, Hot Rod RedThis skillet works really well, has a nice weight, cleans up nicely. Would be a great gift for a cook.

I bought this since I needed another skillet and wanted to try cast iron.Regular cast iron is just too heavy for me (I'm only 5 feet tall), so I thought this would suffice and it had good reviews. So far, I haven't been impressed. It's not as 'non-stick' as some of the reviewers said and it started to develop some coloring that makes it worse.

To be fair, I am not a regular cast-iron user, so I wash it in soap and water the same way I wash every other kitchen pan, dishware, etc.Maybe I should stick with the brands I've known to perform consistently.

NEW 8" Aluminum Non-stick Omelette Fry Pan Skillet Wok Cookware

NEW 8' Aluminum Non-stick Omelette Fry Pan Skillet Wok CookwareI like this Product because it's lightweight and easy to clean. I am disabled and have weakness inmy arms at times, yet I can still lift this pan even when it is almost full.

The only thing I don't like about the Product is the Teflon surface scratches very easily compared to other non-stick cooksare pieces I have.

Great pan if it weren't for the fact that's made of aluminum / aluminium. Aluminum and cooking should not be mixed until it's proven safe to do so, as some studies indicate aluminum is correlated with Alzheimer's and other serious ailments.

Taken from Wikipedia, please check the sources (wiki-search aluminum) if interested:

"Because aluminium competes with calcium for absorption, increased amounts of dietary aluminium may contribute to the reduced skeletal mineralization (osteopenia) observed in preterm infants and infants with growth retardation. In very high doses, aluminium can cause neurotoxicity, and is associated with altered function of the blood-brain barrier."

World Cuisine green enamel cast-iron sauce pan with a beautiful wooden handle. It has a small spout

World Cuisine green enamel cast-iron sauce pan with a beautiful wooden handle. It has a small spout on the lip for easy pouring.I love enameled cast iron, but this pan weighed a TON for a rather small pan.The color I got wasn't the same green as in the photo and somehow the whole piece was not a work of art, which I was expecting after paying nearly $100 for a pan to heat milk in!For that price you're buying beauty and perfection, and for me, it didn't hit the mark.

Cuisinart FCT33-28H French Classic Tri-Ply Stainless 5-1/2-Quart Saute Pan with Helper Handle and C

Cuisinart FCT33-28H French Classic Tri-Ply Stainless 5-1/2-Quart Saute Pan with Helper Handle and CoverI wanted to switch from my 12yr old Circulon nonstick set to stainless, so I bought this to try out the concept.I picked this specific piece because a large sauté pan isn't included in most tri-ply sets.I used one of the 20 percent off coupons at Bed Bath and Beyond to pick up this sample of the mid-priced French Classic line.I also picked up a Cuisinart MCP19-16 MultiClad Pro Stainless-Steel 1-1/2-Quart Saucepan with Cover from the lower priced Cuisinart Multiclad Pro line, because I wanted to compare the two lines, and a small pot like this is also not included in most tri-ply sets.Along the way, I was able to side by side compare both Cuisinart lines to All-Clad, Calphalon, and Emeril lines of tri-ply. From what I can tell, the lines are all made from the same basic material. The layers are visible at the top of each pot, and they look the same. The pots sound the same when tapped, and have similar weights. It appears that the only difference is in the details.

The French Classic is by far the nicest looking. The mirror polished outside of the pans is like a chrome bumper on a classic car.Interestingly, you can get reproductions of chrome bumpers done in polished stainless steel. They hold up very well, and scratches can be polished out of them.I assume the same can be said for these pots. The French Classic line also has nicer handles. They are cast steel, versus stamped, and are thus more substantial. They are unique, and artistic. They also have a flat spot that extends out a bit from the pot, before the first hole.Others, including the Multi-Clad Pro line have a handle that branches into a Y shape before it attaches to the pot. This Y shape lets spilled food run down the side of the pan and stick in the Y, which is hard to clean. The French Classic's handle is a solid piece for about a half inch out from the pot, forming an easier to clean ledge, instead of a tight, food catching triangle formed by the pot wall and the Y shape. Finally, the French handle is attached with noticeably smaller rivets, which are also smoother, meaning they will be easier to clean. The MCP's rivets look like...well they look like they were made in China, slightly rough and misshapen.

Let's talk lids. They both are non-magnetic polished stainless, as opposed to the pots themselves, which are magnetic. They aren't the same materials, though. The MCP lid is thinner and softer.Heck, a regular kitchen towel left swirl marks on it when I dried it.The same towel did nothing on the French lid.I would say that the Frenchie fits tighter because the rim of the pot isn't rolled like the MCP. Let's talk handles. The MCP handle (and lid) shows finger prints much easier than the French handle (and lid). There is a difference in polishing technique that has somehow resulted in a better surface on the French line. This will pay off as the pots get used.

The MultiClad line has two functional advantages over the French Classic, though.First, the lips of the pots are rolled outward, making it a bit easier to pour from them. I don't do that very often, so it's not a factor for me.Second, the outside is two tone. Most of the pot is brushed stainless, but the top half inch and the lid are mirror polished. The brushed stainless might wear better than the entirely polished (except the bottoms) French Classic outsides, although you can polish a scratch out of a mirror finish, but not a brushed finish.Appearance wise, it's a matter of taste, but I can tell you the unique handles and mirror polish of the Frenchie is striking.

On to cooking performance...they seem the same to me.Both have the same weight, construction and interior material and finish, which are identical to the other brands. So far, I've cooked steaks, taco meat, oatmeal, bacon and eggs in these two pans.A little soaking and a light scrubbing with a dish rag gets them clean. Not much harder to clean than the outgoing Circulon non-stick stuff.I did notice a slight haze developing on the inside that I couldn't clean off with a soapy rag, but a very light with Bar Keepers Friend® Cleanser & Polish: 12 OZ took care of that.Basically, both lines seem to be easy to clean, except for the fingerprints and swirl marks mentioned above. As for heat transfer, well they both worked at least as good as the old Circulon anodised aluminium, and I don't have to worry about non-stick coatings or aluminium leaching. One advantage over the non-stick is that you can get caramelization to form on the food and the pan when you saute a steak or some onions.Deglaze the pan with red wine or liquid of your choice and reduce it down to a nice sauce. The steak I made in this pan with mushrooms and onions in a red wine sauce was one of the best steaks I've ever had.

Ok, so which line is better, the French Classic or the Multi-Clad Pro?Which set will be brought in to replace the Circulon set?Hmmm...performance is the same. The Frenchie price is a bit higher, but not much higher if you shop around.Appearance is definitely different between the two lines, and I feel that the artistic handles and polished look of the Frenchie are a cut above anything else on the market, at any price. The MCP's two toned look is also nice, but side by side they look cheap compared to the French line.

Sounds like the French Classic is the one to get, right?Maybe. The problem with this line is the lack of selection in it.They just don't have many different types of pans in it.They only have one medium sized sauce pan, and it's only two quarts, for example. Where's the 3 and 4 quart sauce pans that are available in the MCP line? They do have a nice 4.5 quart Dutch Oven in the set that you can't get in the MCP.Beyond that, the only other French choices you can get besides this large pan being reviewed is a 6 quart stock pot, a 12 inch skillet, and non-stick versions of the open skillets.I read that this line hasn't been out for a year yet, so maybe more items will become available soon.

Here's what I think I'm going to do...I think I'll use another 20 percent off coupon at BBandB, which will bring the price of the French set down to $240.I'll keep my large 3 and 4 quart Circulon sauce pans for the few times I need one, and wait to see if a large sauce pan comes available in the French line, or maybe I'll stumble across one I like in open stock of another line, maybe even the Cuisinart MCP194-20 MultiClad Pro Stainless-Steel 4-Quart Saucepan with Cover. The deciding factor? They just seem better made. Made in France, not made in China like the MCP line and most other low to mid priced brands out there on the market.

Received my Cuisinart French Classic 5.5Qt Saute Pan today, and it seems like a very nice product. However, the product appeared brand new in the package, but there were several burrs (appearing to be tooling marks) in the rim of the pan. They weren't a big deal, but when paying almost $100 for a single pan, I expect the final product to be flawless.Otherwise, the pan looks magnificentpolished stainless on the sides and matte on the cooking surface and the bottom.Very heavy and a nice handle.Just be careful when you receive the product and check it for manufacturing defects.Other than that, I have no doubt this product will provide years and years of faithful service.

This is very high quality. They are quite thick, are great conductors of heat, and will hold up well. The exterior finish is gloss, and it will become scratched with time, but it's not on display, it's for cooking. The lip is not rolled, and it may be a bit difficult to pour sauce. That's not a bad thing, just a note. It's much easier to clean with a plain edge anyhow.

We chose this pan for a few reasons, one was that it was stainless steel, but what was really nice was the fact that it was advertised as being light weight. My wife and I have wanted to get a pan or dutch oven that could be put in the oven to cook or use on the stove, but dutch ovens are so heavy. So we got this to do our stir frys or whatever else where having deep sides would be a good benefit.

It works great and we use it frequently. The construction is good too and YES it is NOT made in China!!!! It's made in France!! The handle does not get hot and the extra grip on the side is really helpful.

It's a great piece and worth the price. We expect to keep this cookware for many many years over.
