Farberware Dishwasher Safe Aluminum Nonstick 10-1/2-Inch Covered Deep Skillet, ChampagneI like it. it is light weight, easy to clean, good looking, and durable. Just be careful not to put meat with bones seen from the outside into the pan or they will scratch the serface.

This frying pan is a non-stick beauty that exceeds all of my expections.I believe it will last a long time and give me many years of use.

If you are looking for a deep pan then this is not the right choice. I received the item in good condition but was disappointed that it was hardly deep for the purpose I bought it. The rest looks fine.

Kalorik DKP-21898 1400-Watt Portable Chrome Double Burner with 2 Cast-Iron Cooking Plates

Kalorik DKP-21898 1400-Watt Portable Chrome Double Burner with 2 Cast-Iron Cooking PlatesI purchased 3 of these from Amazon at the beginning of the school year for my 4H Foods Group which consists of 22 kids. These hot plates have been used twice a week, every week, and at competition.

They work great and have been very reliable. The only complaint I have is that they take a while to get hot, and then after you're done cooking it takes equally as long for it to cool off.....but those are small prices to pay to get a hot plate that works every time you need it too.

These are holding up well to the abuse the kids dish out and they still look and act just like they did out of the box!

I like that the burners are sealed, and it cooks very well. The one thing I didn't like was that the crome surround gets very hot to the touch.Keep this away from small children.Other than that it is a good product.

I purchased this to add to my outdoor kitchen as I needed some additional cook tops.

We use this outside, store it indoors.

It arrived very well packed. Is easy to use and it looks good.

The burnes are a bit slow getting hot, but that is to be expected with the cast iron. However it does a good job.

If you set it up to 5 it shuts itself off when it reaches the appropiate temp. At max it keeps going. We have used it for deep frying, boiling water etc. Pretty much all regular cooking is being done on it.

It runs about 1400 watts I believe, I am running it on a 20 amp circuit and it is fine.

Good product, good price.

Nordic Ware 12-Inch Skillet Extraordinaire

Nordic Ware 12-Inch Skillet ExtraordinaireThis skillet is amazing. It's very high quality, the likes of which a chef at a restaurant would use.Nothing sticks to it, and it cooks things real nice.If you demand the best out of your cookware, go with this brand.

This Pro Cast line from Nordic Ware is NICE!That's why I'm so disappointed that I can't use it.The bottom is not flat, but has round, raised, rough spots all over. Not smooth cooktop compatible.

This would have been good to know BEFORE ordering.I've contacted the manufacturer as well.Online descriptions need to note this information.

I looked long and hard for a made in the USA skillet just because I believe our quality standards well exceed many of the countries that make most of the famous Chef skillets and well-known brands and I finally found Nordic Ware.I also didn't want to spend a lot of money on non-stick pans when they really have a limited life-span with all the wear-and-tear of normal cooking. This pan fit both criteria.Don't need any oil or butter really, except for flavoring because the food didn't stick to the pan.I've browned meat in the skillet and am pleased with the overall results. What I really like is the heat is well distributed throughout the entire pan and I don't have to adjust meat pieces in order to evenly brown them.Easy to clean as well.

We have tried many highend frying pans, but none of the others compare to this pan.It was much lighter than I expected, but it cooks perfectly.

Even more surprizing, nothing sticks to it.We had burned fish in it one day.The house cleaners came, looked at it and hid it in the stove rather than try to clean it.I put it in water for 5 minutes, and everything wiped right out.

Want Nordic Ware 12-Inch Skillet Extraordinaire Discount?

I'm usually impressed by Nordicware products, but not this one.I never actually got around to using the skillet because the handle was snapped off near the base. There was no damage to the Amazon box. There was no damage to the Nordic Ware box inside. The Amazon box had adequate filler to prevent excessive shifting. There is no explanation for this other than that the handle is made of cheap material.

One of the other reviewers mentioned that the skillet looks like it will scratch smooth-top ranges.I'd have to agree with this, although I didn't have the chance to test it out.I didn't realize from the single photo image for this item that the bottom surface has dozens of small, raised circular buttons (there are probably better words to describe them, but none come to mind) that are about 1/2 inch in diameter. Each of these raised buttons has a sharp edge, so I'm sure that's what the other reviewer was concerned about.I thought is was just a rough surface, so I took the chance that it would be something that I could smooth down with some extra fine steel wool.

The last comment I'll make is that the skillet surface has a bit of a bronze tone to it, not the brushed aluminum or steel look I expected from the photo. That's not necessarily bad, but it's not what I'd prefer.

Two stars for this one, Nordic Ware.

T-fal E9189764 Ultimate Nonstick Thermo-Spot Heat Indicator Dishwasher Safe 10-Inch Deep Saute Pan

T-fal E9189764 Ultimate Nonstick Thermo-Spot Heat Indicator Dishwasher Safe 10-Inch Deep Saute Pan / Fry Pan with Glass Lid Cookware, GrayI have three of the non-stick hard enamel frying pans from T-Fal now. It is deeper and has a lid but otherwise it is the same type of pan as this one: T-fal E6080862 Ultimate Nonstick Hard Enamel 12.5-Inch Fry Pan / Saute Pan, Black. I like it that it does not have Teflon but is still non-stick. It is a fairly heavy pan which does not warp like cheaper ones. You would expect that all cookware nowadays is dishwasher safe but it is not (including many T-fal products). However, this one is dishwasher safe. This pan is basically an extra deep frying pan with a lid. I find it as easy to use as a normal frying pan without the extra the depth. However, the extra depth is handy when I sautee bulky stuff like spinach. The bottom has a thermo-spot heat indicator which I never use and find a useless feature (it basically tells you that the pan is hot). In additon, the red heat indicator darkens over time and looses therefore its effectiveness.

This 10-inch fry pan with lid, from Amazon, makes it easy to create a perfect omelette. The lid fits tight so that the top of the omelette cooks along with the bottom. After a bit of practice I can now flip a six-egg omelette in the T-Fal without any breaks to the omelette. 6 eggs! That makes making an omelette fun!

I have been using this pan for over a year and it has held up very well. T-Fal has lots of pans so look for the ones with the 'techno resist base' as they are a higher quality than some others. Look for the pattern on the base pictured with this product and you will be happy. I mostly wash by hand as I have read that dishwashers are very hard on non stick surfaces and want these to last. This pan was the first I tried and I went back to the big box store and picked up two others in different sizes. I use them every day. Read the instructions just cuz they are non stick doesn't mean they should be used without any oil. I put a small amount of EVOO in the bottom before I cook anything. I have retired the Farberware I received when I got married and am not looking back.

I like TFal pans not only because of the non stick feature but also because I can put them into the dishwasher.I am tired of spending a small fortune on nonstick pans that say they have to be washed by hand.Seriously, I don't think any one washes pans by hand any more. They last and cook evenly, two more pluses for cookware in my book.

Old Mountain Pre Seasoned 10119 Two Burner Reversible Grill / Griddle, 20 Inch

Old Mountain Pre Seasoned 10119 Two Burner Reversible Grill / Griddle, 20 InchI didn't dislike this unit. It's advertised as being 20" in length. However, the cooking surface is only about 16" X 7", which is much smaller than I wanted. I returned the item and got a Lodge Logic double-burner griddle/grill. It wasn't because I disliked this unit though. It was simply because I wanted a larger piece of cookware. I would still recommend the product for people who aren't looking to cook huge quantities at once. If you want to make pancakes, which I love to make, you can easily make two at a time. You can also cook about 3 medium-sized hamburger patties or 2 smal steaks at once.

I bought one of these as a gift for my mom. She loves it. She was overjoyed that it came pre-seasoned. (She's old school and all of her past cast iron she had to season) Her one complaint is that the grease trap lip is alittle too shallow. Not a problem, can just be messy. All-in-all a great product.

Great grill and the quality of the manufacturing is good versus most of the other in the market. Pre Seasoned bit is a questionable since it had a little rust when I got it, but once I conditioned and cleaned thoroughly it has been great.

If you like kitchen products designed by someone who obviously has never cooked, then, this griddle is for you. Do you want to make french toast? You can only make 4 at a time using standard-sized bread. If the grease trap was part of the usable cooking surface, you could make 8 at a time. Do you want to oil or butter the surface for cooking? Too bad. If the griddle isn't perfectly level, your butter will be lost in the trough on the edge. Granted, it cooks very well, but, all cast iron should do likewise. It's simply too narrow if you're cooking for more than one person, and very wasteful to see your butter/oil become hopelessly lost to the non-cooking surface. The trough makes this a waste of time and money.

Tramontina Set of 3 Saute Pans

Tramontina Set of 3 Saute PansI got this 3 piece set for 20 bucks from a local store. It is the right kind of heavy in my opinion. The Cook's Illustrated highly recommends the 12 inch skillet. And I can see why. They cook evenly and are super easy to clean. I never wash them in the dishwasher though, so my skillets have very few scratches despite heavy use for past 6 months. Sometimes I get scorch stains on the bottom of the pan but they always come off with a little elbow grease. These are the best non stick skillets that I have ever owned.

These pans have heavy duty riveted handles, cook well, ez to clean. They are Made in the USA by your neighbors!

My wife likes having three sizes.

Buy Tramontina Set of 3 Saute Pans Now

I've been buying non-stick cookware since it first came out. I will say that I always use a tiny bit of oil in the pan, because food cooked without oil is not very tasty to me. MANY of the Teflon pans I bought years ago lasted less than a year before they began to discolor and get scratches in them. Even the high-dollar Calphalon pan began to stick and get a rough surface after about 2 months. The Emeril steel pans did not perform as promised and were like all others, requiring overnight soaking with baking soda to loosen the stuck food, followed by a rubbing with Barkeeper's Friend, to make it shine. I finally accepted the fact that non-stick cookware is like a cardboard box -it won't last forever, so don't think of it as the last pan you'll ever buy; it will have to be replaced frequently. My main objective became finding a non-stick pan that will last longer than a few weeks before it starts clinging to food. I bought my first Tramontina pan a couple of years ago, and it remained smooth and functional for over two years, and I used it daily. The exterior of the pan, coated with something amazing, also remained clean over that time. It finally got one tiny scratch in it, which didn't affect the efficiency of it, but I decided it was getting old, and who knows what happens over time to the chemical structure of the surface itself? So I bought this set of three a few months ago, and they still look like they just came out of the packaging. They do a wonderful job on everything I cook in them (and I DO use HIGH heat, even though instructions warn against it). They do not discolor over at least two years. The surface does not begin to get a sandpaper texture to it, like the Teflon pans always did. And the first one I had was still stick-free after two years. If you want a pan that you can hand down to your grandchildren, buy cast iron or stainless steel, but you will need to buy plenty of steel wool (for the iron) and a case of Barkeeper's Friend (for the steel). This is the best non-stick I have found. It cooks evenly, cleans easily, and outlasts any others I've tried.

I bought this set at Costco (Sorry, Amazon, but they had it cheaper) after reading reviews of the product. So far I have been very, very happy with the purchase. The pans are a nice size assortment and have a good feel to them; I also like the rubber handles. Granted the pans don't have lids, but you can purchase an all-sizes lid on Amazon or any kitchen-ey type place. Sure, I don't know how long they will last, but in their price range they seem to be of above-average quality. I'm more than content with them. Be sure to season the pans, as the manufacturer recommends, which takes less than five minutes.

Calphalon Tri-Ply Stainless Steel Omelette

Calphalon Tri-Ply Stainless Steel 10-Inch OmeletteThis pan is a fantastic workhorse. It's the 'go-to' pan in my kitchen. It goes from stove-top to oven/broiler without missing a beat and without doubts from the cook. Heats evenly and quickly, and the handle stays cool (on the stovetop), unlike some much more expensive copper pans with cast-iron handles I've used. This pan meets or exceeds the French & Belgian copper I've used, in terms of kitchen performance; the only place it might rate 2nd is in the aesthetics area, if one prefers a copper/cast iron look and European pedigree. The Calphalon was made in China.

But honestly, the Calphalon pan is one I never have to second guess it does exactly what is asked of it.

For anyone with qualms about foods catching in the pan, do the following:

1. Pre-heat the pan on MEDIUM heat prior to putting any food/oil/butter in it. Once the pan is hot, one can add the food. For example, I've put raw, unseasoned steaks in this pan once it's hot. The meat will adhere for 20-30 seconds until the pan-side is seared, then can be moved, turned, etc. quite as easily as if the pan had a Teflon coating. Eggs also are loose, as long as they've been put into a hot pan that has had a bit of butter added. A fried egg slides around after 20-30 seconds as though it was on ice, as long as one has begun with a HOT PAN.

2. This pan heats up nicely at 60-75% of the burner heat capacity; i.e., if your burner goes from "0" (cold) to "15" (max heat), you shouldn't need to turn it above "11" to get a nicely heated pan that will respond to your culinary desires. Remember it goes to "11."

3. Throw this pan into the oven at 300-F for hours, or under a hot broiler for 10 minutes. And forget about it I have had no warping or any problems whatsoever.

4. The pan cleans easily. Let it cool. Then any stuck-on bits wipe out with a splash of water. If something has really caught, scrape the stainless steel surface with a flathead screwdriver; it will be fine. After several years, I have some superficial scratches on the interior surface, but it's still shiny. The bottom of the pan is slightly tan in places, but again it's just superficial surface discoloration (much less than an All-Clad pan I have, which shows much more brown heat-scarring).

In sum, Calphalon has a fantastic 10-inch pan here. Life is too short to fret over a frying pan anyway.

If you want one, get it. It can probably deflect a hail of bullets too, if an angry mob should appear or one could just fry up some bacon in the pan and toss it to the mob to placate them.

You have to follow these instructions if you want to cook in a stainless steel pan like a pro (instructions from my father :p):

1. Put the pan over low heat without oil in it for a while; a while is usually until you can drop some water on it and see it evaporate pretty quickly.

2. Pour enough oil to coat the bottom and since the pan is hot, you want to make sure that you add your food after you've swirled the oil around in the hot pan a few times to coat the bottom.

3. Make sure there's a little bit of oil in the pan at all times, otherwise you're going to end up burning the oil on the pan.

4. After cooking remove the food and rinse off the pan under hot running water, right away; don't use cold water as it might warp the pan.

All in all, I love this pan, but I would really love it if it came with a lid; I know, it's a fry pan, but I can cook and I want a lid for my more creative projects!!!

Buy Calphalon Tri-Ply Stainless Steel Omelette Now

I own several pans from the Calphalon Tri-Ply collection and believe these are great pans for many uses.Anyone saying these pans don't clean easily is clearly doing something wrong. These pans are not "non-stick" so yes, there may be some elbow grease involved from time to time, but good luck searing a piece of meat with a non-stick pan. These pans do get hot easier and faster than some cheaper pans, especially because a lot of cheaper pans only heat the bottom of the pan by heating an encapsulated disc bonded to the bottom where as these pans heat throughout the entire pan. Make sure when using these pans you get them nice and hot and make sure you have some fat in the pan before adding food.Bar Keepers Friend works great at removing residue stuck on the pans that dish soap usually isnt able to remove on its own.

After using this wonderful pan one can only conclude that negative reviewers, despite their statements to the contrary, must have misused their pans in one way or another. No pan, no matter how well-constructed, can survive abuse unscathed.

I had been using a good-quality hard-anodized omelet pan for my fried eggs.Seemed OK, but I decided to try a stainless steel pan and chose this one.I am delighted I did.The pan has good weight to it, and is beautifully constructed with a brilliant finish.

I put a little butter in the pan over medium-low heat. The butter melted more quickly and evenly than it did in my non-stick pan.I cracked two eggs and continued cooking over a fairly gentle heat. They cooked thoroughly and evenly. After gentle prodding with a turner they slid around the pan better than they ever did in the non-stick.I never had to turn the heat up high at all.

I am sold and it cost me:I ordered replacements for all sizes of my pans.I will, however, keep this pan as a dedicated egg pan.I think that, along with careful cooking and clean-up, will insure a long life of good service.

Universal N180 cast iron skillet set.

Universal N180 cast iron skillet set.I bought this set after the recent issues with Teflon. I did my research on all non-Teflon items and decided upon iron cast pans as the Aluminum pans do give off some aluminum into the food and may (key word here is may) contribute to Alzheimer's (according to some), and the Stainless steel gives off chromium and nickel into the foods, both of which I am allergic too. Pure copper with no aluminum is extremely expensive; a good set of a few items are $600+. There are also ceramic glass pots and pants made by Corning/Pyrex called Visionware (also known as Visions) that can be found on eBay (and a few are left here on Amazon) as they are no longer in production. Finally, there are also items made of ceramics and clay that should be safe alternatives

The items have been great so far, however, you will really want to do some research in google (or any other search engine) on how to care for them as there are some things that you really shouldn't do such as rinse a very hot pan in cold water (it will crack or break) etc. In addition, you will also want to so some research on how to "season" them which makes them very close to being non-stick (you basically smear them with an oil than can take high temperatures and "bake" the pans for an hour at 350 degrees Fahrenheit). I did this and I just made eggs from eggbeaters without any oil which always used to stick in my nonstick Teflon pan, but very little stuck in my seasoned cast iron pan.

The downsides are that the handle can get hot when it is left on the stove for long period of time and that you cannot stick the pan into the dishwasher (and I tried....it will come out a little bit rustier-but the little rust does come off very easily). The sizes are also a little bit on the smaller side for me. So I think I will buy one more in a larger size.

The upsides are price, no chemicals (except for some iron) in your food, easy to care for, and very non stick when seasoned. This is a great starter set.

So I have a set of cast iron pots inherited from my grandmother need I tell u there from the 1900's so the best way I can tell you is to Use vegetable or corn oil to rub down your pots and pans down. With the new pots and pans this may take several times to do before u get the shine that I have on my pots keep in mind my grandmother had them from along time ago so it's prob the original. When washing them do not use SOS pads for this will scratch your pots .after washing and drying just take a Lil oil and rub the pans down and this will help season and keep from rusting. I'm 40 and my mother is 60 and the pots are still in good use and I hope to pass down to my kids as my mother still has several sets my grandmother sure did love her cast iron pots

I hope this helps but all in all they are the best. Did I mention that my pots are black oh and if you wash your dishes in bleach like u do please make sure you run it down with oil

I purchased this set of pans based on the product description which described them as natural cast iron and that they need to be seasoned.Well this is not the case. The pans arrived and in big bold letters read "pre-seasoned". I was very disappointed.I do not wish to have a sprayed on chemical on my pans.I am not sure what pans the one reviewer received because she stated that they need to be seasoned.Obviously she received different pans from the ones I received.I spoke with Goodmans and they said they would send me an RA label to return the pans.I will get back to everyone as to what kind of credit I am issued and the time it takes to receive the credit.

FancyCook Enamel Cast Iron Red Deep Skillet 11-Inch

FancyCook Enamel Cast Iron Red Deep Skillet 11-InchI read another review of this product stating that it is sticky.I couldn't disagree more.I have this pan and one other by this same brand.I specifically bought this pan after thoroughly enjoying the other.I do not own any Le Creuset and at five times the cost of Lodge I don't think I ever will.Lodge is excellent, but this pan is just as good.I make omellettes for one in this every time and do not notice excessive sticking. And it cleans very, very easily.Heuck on the other hand is horrendous for cleaning!Avoid that at all costs!

My only complaint (in general) is that I hate how pans are measured. This 11 inch is far smaller than I expected. The usable space of the pan in diameter (inside rim to inside not on the pour spouts) is 9.75 inches. The sides of the pan slope down slightly and the flat bottom base of the pan is about 8 inches.I'm very picky about this because I've been disappointed in size when ordering online...but that seems to be the standard across all brands to measure the diameter on the outside of the spout across.

This is a nice enamel-finished cast-iron pan. Enamel coating does not make it non-stick just easier to clean and therefor a cleaner pan to cook with. If you don't use enough oil and the food sticks, baking soda does the trick of easily cleaning any burnt parts off. Only downside is that it is very heavy. Works great for sauces. Love the color.

This is great, and exactly what I was looking for on my budget.Would I prefer Le Creuset? No.Not after using this for a few weeks. It has everything except a fancy french name.

Cooking with cast iron requires some technique.Pans heat slowly, but they are easy to overheat.Always warm the skillet before adding butter or oil, always heat the butter or oil before adding whatever it is that you're cooking. But hey that's Cooking 101.

It's especially tricky to find the exact right temperature to cook if you have an electric instead of gas range, as I am cursed with.Just keep an eye on what works. If a 3 setting is working for you, I advise placing the pan on the burner, set the burnet to 3, and wait (10 minutes?) . . . instead of setting it high and turning it down.It will ensure that it heats slowly and evenly.

If you haven't burned your food, cleanup is a snap.Just start with some boiling water, and come back in a few.Even though it's enameled, I still find myself using soap infrequently.Never ever put cold water in a hot iron skillet when you are done cooking. It can crack the skillet.

Overall I'm thrilled, we will see how the red enamel on the exterior holds up.

People on ships died from Heavy Metal poisoning in the past from lead, mercury, etcNeed I say anymore. These short term to long term side effects is no joke!

Hamilton Beach 25332 Indoor Grill With Removable G

Hamilton Beach 25332 Indoor Grill With Removable GI bought this grill 2 months ago as a replacement for a very similar (white) Hamilton Beach grill.I thought it was the same one with some cosmetic changes.Loved the previous one, used it for many years 3 times or more a week. This new unit has been a total disaster, and I am already looking for a replacement. The lower grill has much deeper trenches, which I suppose is suppose to allow for better drain-off, but it makes the unit almost impossible to clean (I'm yet to find a cleaning implement that can reach down into the trenches). After only a couple of hand-washings, the no-stick coating began to flake off, and after only two months almost none is left on the bottom grill (don't know if it would fare better in a dishwasher, since we don't have one, but we've been very careful when cleaning it by hand). The actual space available for cooking is much smaller than on the old model, making it very difficult to cook for two.The drainage tray doesn't stay put, and is not shaped properly to catch the run-off from the upper grill when the unit is open, which has led to a lot of mess (you can pull the tray out slightly to fix is problem, but it doesn't help much since it won't stay where you put it).The heat from the grill has also begun to warp the plastic drainage tray. Finally, for reasons that I haven't been able to figure out, after I finish cooking, the grill begins to smell very strongly of char.It stinks up the entire house.Never had that problem with the old one.

i disposed the box after the 3rd time using the grill, the clip that holds the plate in place broke off the very next time i used it. therefore, i have to openboth sides in order to cook. the last one i purchased about 3yrs ago was very sturdy, unlike this one!

I've had this Hamilton Beach item for about 5 months and it is terrible.I had one of these previously that was made about 10 years ago by Hamilton Beachthat I loved and wanted to replace it.This one is very cheaply made. The numbers for the timer on the front have already worn off so I can't read them.Items stick on it, even when sprayed with cooking spray, and the grooves are so deep it is almost impossible to clean. They provide a plastic piece to clean it that I used today and it scraped the non-stick surface right off in several places.I would never buy this again.

I purchased one of these Hamilton Beach #25332 grills from WalMart about 4 years ago. It was used two to three times a month. The non-stick coating on the bottom grill plates is peeling off so time to replace it. Other than the issue with the coating, the unit was still fully functional.

What I like about the product:

1. Removeable grill plates. We had a large Foreman grill with non-removeable plates and rarely used it because it was so difficult to clean.

2. The 15 minute mechanical timer. 15 minutes seems to be the right amount of time for grilling most meats, including burgers, sausages, average-thickness steaks, and chicken. The fact that the timer is mechanical instead of electronic means it is probably more reliable. This timer now has a stay-on mode that my older unit did not have. The product description on the Hamilton Beach web site states that "most foods cook in 10 minutes or less", and that's a fairly accurate statement. Bacon may take longer if you like it crispy.

3. The drip tray sits in a recess in the side of the grill so it can't accidentally be bumped and spill the contents. The drip tray on this particular model is too small for some kinds of meat, like 70/30 hamburger, or bacon, that produce a lot of grease. Be prepared to empty the drip tray at least once while cooking very fatty meats.

4. The wattage of the heating elements (600 watts each for top and bottom plates, 1200 total) is about right for most meat grilling.

5. Replacement grill plates can be ordered from Hamilton Beach for $14 each. Of course, the whole grill on Amazon is only $35 so it's probably not worth it to replace grill plates in an old grill.

6. The top lid swings 180ยบ and lays flat so if you don't need to cook your food with the lid closed, you can have an open grill with 110 square inches of surface. Cooking bacon this way works pretty good.

What I don't like about the product:

1. I wish it was a little larger. For example, it will cook up to three Johnsonville Brats split in half and laid flat, or three medium size burger patties. The actual cooking area, from the Hamilton Beach web site, is only 55 square inches (110 with the lid open and using it as an open grill). If you are cooking for four or more people, it is too small; you will have to cook in batches. There are larger grills available from other manufacturers (George Foreman and Cuisinart, among others), but I have not found one of these larger models with removable grill plates.

2. The non-stick coating failed after less than 200 uses. I have several saucepans and frying pans with PTFE coating that are at least 15 years old, and the coating is worn but not peeling. So I know it's possible to coat aluminum with PTFE that lasts a long time.

CONCLUSION: If this was a perfect world, Hamilton Beach would sell a larger version of this product with removable grill plates measuring at least 144 square inches, like the big Foreman grill, and with premium quality PTFE coating on the grill plates that would last several years. For the $35 Amazon price, this is a very nice grill with lots of nifty features, if you can live with the relatively small grill plates. For a household of only one or two people, it's perfect, but if you have a bunch of hungry kids to feed, you might want to look for a larger grill like the Foreman 144 square inch model.I am giving it 4 stars instead of 5 because of the short lifespan of the non-stick coating on my grill (maybe newer ones are better?). Overall value for the $35 price is excellent, so I recommend this product if the relatively small grill plate size is acceptable to you.

So I bought this to replace my 6+year old George Foreman, which I was tired of cleaning and which always leaked grease everywhere. When I first opened the box, I was impressed. It just "looks" better than my Foreman. However, I was extremely disappointed in the small size of the drip tray, and in how it slides into the side. Can we say "accident waiting to happen?"It doesn't seat very well, and that's without any liquid even in it.I have already accidentally knocked the drip tray twice in arranging the unit on my counter.I guess time will tell when I actually use it.The plates snap out of the unit so that you can wash them in the washing machine. The metal snap that holds each plate is rather small and doesn't look like it will convincingly hold up for years.Again, I guess time will tell!In any case, it LOOKS fantastic on my counter, and I hope that the non-stick coating stays on!
