12" COMMERCIAL ALUMINUM FRY FRYING PAN - NSF GRADE

12' COMMERCIAL ALUMINUM FRY FRYING PAN - NSF GRADEWe had originally ordered a smaller version of this item and were very pleased.But, it was not large enough for creating dishes for company.This size is just fine and heats up well on the larger, standard burner on a home range.I am not sure I would want to try a larger one unless I had special burners.

Clean up has been easier than I thought, too.

It does what it is supposed to do just like most other such pans. No reason not to like it.

RE: Straight to the point! Look up Heavy Metal Poisoning, including Aluminum

This goes for all Aluminum cookware all across the board on NOT just Amazon but all over the internet.I just decided to look this up on my favorite etailer just to see if it were being sold on Amazon after reading the dangerous side effects of Heavy Metal poisoning from pure Aluminum cookware.

People on ships died from Heavy Metal poisoning in the past from lead, mercury, etcNeed I say anymore.These short term to long term side effects is no joke!

Guy Fieri 12-in. Pre-Seasoned Light Weight Cast Iron Fry Pan, Black

Guy Fieri 12-in. Pre-Seasoned Light Weight Cast Iron Fry Pan, BlackThe Guy Fieri lightweight cast iron is a dream come true. I love the health benefits of cooking on cast iron, but it's too heavy for me. This is not. The 12" pan weighs 67.2 oz (4.2 lbs), not the 2 lbs given in the Amazon description. That's still a few ounces less that my Lodge 8" skillet.

It is 12" across the top, with 8" of available flat cooking surface at the base. This wide flair makes it easy to scoop those last bits of food up and over the side into a waiting plate instead of picking up the pan to slide it out. If I do need to slide something like an omelet, it lifts and tilts easily with the handle in one hand and an oven mitt on the handle-less side.

The interior is cast iron with a bit of a swirl pattern. The pattern holds oil in small dimples, letting me use a fraction of the oil my old pans required. I use only one teaspoon of oil, and swab it about the pan with a silicone brush before adding the food. There's no sticking (including eggs!), but outstanding browning, in this pan.

The "black" exterior is really a very appealing charcoal gray. It is perfectly smooth for my ceramic cooktop, and also performs beautifully on my old electric stove.

Interior and exterior clean up easily, even after deeply browning a steak. Just hot soapy water and my fingers when the pan is deglazed and cooled. I have four pieces of this cookware 10 and 12 inch pans, 5 quart braiser, and 5.5 quart dutch oven... every other pan has been banished.

Excellent!The interior is smooth versus the old-school cast iron skillets.It is lightweight.It distributes heat very well.I threw out all of my non-stick skillets that are made and processed with all kinds of crazy chemicals and sealants.This is THE pan for cooking great food.I scramble eggs all the time and they don't stick.Clean up is a breeze.Hot water and a cloth and then re-season with a little oil.

Scanpan Classic 9-1/2-Inch Fry Pan

Scanpan Classic 9-1/2-Inch Fry PanI have this pan worked great for about 1.5 years but then began to "bubble" on the flat surface.Obviously this is a manufacturing issue & Scanpan claims to have a lifetime warranty on manufacturer defects.I sent it off to the factory & they refuse the claim due to lack of cleaning...

I work in a freaking research & development department for cookware.I know how to clean a fry pan.Their "claim" is a small area on the lip of the pan FAR AWAY from the main bubbling issue & an area I didn't scrub completely because once I noticed the bubbling, the pan is useless to me.

This is a complete joke & their warranty "policy" is apparently: unless if falls out of the manufacturer's box in 10 pieces all while catching it on camera with a factory representative on hand, we will not cover.

Roll the dice if you choose.This pan is so expensive, for them not to treat warranty claims with the respect they deserve is ridiculous.

=really works

Reviewer: /Ken from Tracy, CA USA

I just got one. I tried cooking an egg with no oil in it on medium heat. It stuck a little, but I could clean it off with one wipe of a paper towel. I can't do this with any other pan I own. With just a slight amount of butter (a pat cut 1/16th inch thick), I repeated the test and was able to flip the egg with ease and there was NO stcking at all. It cleaned off with just dabbing a paper towel along the surface. The outside of the pan also has non stick sides, so if you get some slop on the sides on the outside of the pan, it wipes off as well. The heat distribution was superb as evidenced by the changing pattern from clear to white of the egg white and the uniformity of browning of the egg surface. I intend to use this pan for omlettes and crepes. It exceeds any other fry / saute pan I've used.

You can use metal utensils on this pan: amazing. The handle is suppossed to be good to 500 deg F. I finally found a non stick pan I can use!

I have Le Creuset, multiple stainless, plain cast iron and several (retired) non stick (including Corning and Analon). The eggs are cleaner than from cast iron. In the Le Cruset or stainless, a soaking is required for the same test.

I gave up my teflon pans years ago, and suffered through trials with stainless steel and cast iron skillets and disasters with Visionware.I heard about Scanpans on a cooking forum and took a chance on buying this sample pan.Man, oh man!It's so good to be able to cook a simple egg in butter again with no worries about burning or sticking.

Everything the other reviewers say about it is true.It sits flat on my ceramic cooktop and has no hotspots.It cooks evenly.It cleans up like a dream.Nothing, and I mean nothing, sticks or burns.I've used it for a year, two or even three times a day.It still looks like new.

After I use it for breakfast I just swish it clean so it's ready for dinner.At first I was afraid to put it in the dishwasher but got over that pretty quick.After dinner I throw it in the dishwasher.It's gone through the dishwasher every day for nearly a year.Did I mention it still looks like new?

It makes a great gift too!Get it, you'll love it!

edited 10/4/2006I'm back on Amazon today to buy another one for my son in college.These make fantastic gifts.Everyone I've given them to has raved about them.Mine are now two years old and still look like new.Having good equipment like Scanpans makes cooking downright fun!

Like several other reviewers for this pan or other Scanpan pieces/sets, my experience with this cookware has been awful.I've tossed a complete set out after just four years of use.I'm aware there is a warranty, but why replace bad with bad?Besides, the process for warranty replacement has less appeal than a root canal.It's a joke.

YOU REALLY OWE IT TO YOURSELF to check around on the Internet for consumer feedback/reviews on this overpriced and overrated cookware.Again and again you'll read about how the nonstick surface eventually discolors, then forms little bubbles, the surface degrades, then finally loses all its nonstick qualities.Take the time to read customers' 1-star ratings here on Amazon for both sets and single pieces, and you'll read the same thing over and over again.SERIOUSLY, FOLKS, THINK TWICE.

The Camp Chef SK-4 Cast Iron Skillet, 4 Inch Diameter

The Camp Chef SK-4 Cast Iron Skillet, 4 Inch DiameterI use it all the time to make one egg.Once it's seasoned it never sticks.While cooking my egg I put another small cast iron pan upside down on top and my egg cooks perfectly.The egg comes out perfectly round and is great for putting in an English muffin with Canadian bacon and a slice of cheese.Yum!

Pros: Easily concealed, oddly strange, small..

Cons: The raised stuff on the bottom makes this an impractical pan for real cooking.

On the plus side it is very fun to hide at friends houses until they find it.Thus the pro's for easily concealed.

Swiss Diamond Saute Pans

Swiss Diamond Nonstick 3.8-Qt. Cast Aluminum Open Sauté PanI've been cooking for over thirty years and can recommend this product without reservation.If you're in the market for a non-stick pan that isn't teflon, this is the pan for you.Even heating, a nice heft without being too heavy and easy cleanup these are some of the qualities of Swiss Diamond.I own a lot of expensive cookware.This brand is rapidly becoming my favorite.

The description for this product does say that it is virtually indestructible, but it does pit and scratch. However, even after the pits and scratches, still nothing sticks while cooking or cleaning! I have used the grill most, and this pan the third most, and I still love it. I also like that its bottom fits perfectly onto my large electric burner. I do wonder of whatever is pitting is coming off and into my food, but my guess is that, yes, it is. I am also guessing that it is diamonds coming out (I wish I could find some and sell themlol). Just like little kids eat rocks all day and nothing comes of it, I am not worried about my health the way I worry about using Teflon.

I've bought several of the Swiss Diamond pans in the past six months. They are holding up beautifully, almost a joy to wash them, and they are a good weight, very stable but not heavy like some ceramic or wrought iron pans. I just used my 10" frying pan in the oven after browning a pork roast in it on the stove top; almost no clean up afterwards. Now to see if they hold up year after year; fingers crossed.

I've had this 4.3 qt. saute pan now for a few months and it's the best skillet I've ever owned.It heats hotter than any other pan I've owned and everything cooks evenly and consistently on the cooking surface of the pan (and a little quicker too).I've not burned anything in it but, have made some things that are a little sticky and the clean up is extremely effortless.

I have not used metal utensils in my pan (and don't plan on doing so); I hope this will be the last skillet I ever have to buy.

I also own the 8" covered skillet and I love that pan as well; it's especially good for cooking eggs, omelets or any small portions of food. I bought this particular pan because it's one of the very few 8" pans I've found that come with a lid (clear, at that).

The lids for these pans are the best because you can see what's going on inside without having to lift the lid.

All in all, nothing sticks to these pans and I'm very satisfied with my purchase. Wish I knew about Swiss Diamond a long time ago.

Johnson-Rose French Style Steel Fry Pan, 10-3/4 Inch x 1-5/8 Inch

Johnson-Rose French Style Steel Fry Pan, 10-3/4 Inch x 1-5/8 InchThese warp on high heat and put out noxious fumes.Absolute junk.Spend a few dollars more and buy Vollrath, which are french style, carbon steel, and are exceptonally good.

The pan is light weight, but the these light weight pans are more than adequate for my cooking style.First the pan is cleaned with soap and water. Next I boiled some potatoes peels in the pan for about 15 to 20 minutes to get clean the pan of the shipping coating. The pan is then rinsed with water and wipe dry with a clean cloth or paper towel.Next using some high smoke point oil like coconut oil to coat the entire pan.Put the pan in 400 F heated oven for about 20 minutes.Wipe the pan down with paper towels while hot, be sure to use a pot holder to hold the pan to avoid burning yourself.The pan is now really for cooking duties.

My first use with the pan was to pan fry a couple fish fillets.The fillets were seasoned with olive oil.I sat the gas stove burner on medium and put the new pan on to the burner without adding any oil onto the pan.After fifteen seconds or so and noticing the pan was becoming hot, I added a spoon of olive oil to the pan and I move the pan while still over the flame to have the one spoon oil spread out over the pan.I then transferred the fillets to the hot pan.The fillets were red snapper, not too large for the pan. After 3 minutes, I turned the fillets over and the fillets were easy to turn over on the pan, just like a nonstick pan would allow you turn over. And another three minutes, I transfer the fillets to a serving plate.The fillets looks professionally cooked as fillets were brown just perfect and the fillets were not broken into pieces. They were beautifully browned and in one piece.For cleaning of the pan, I poured about an inch of water in the pan while the pan is still very hot. I let the water remain in the pan until I finished my meal.I then just used a plastic scrubber to clean the pan. After cleaning and rinsing the pan clean, I wipe down the pan to dry the pan. To store the pan for my next cooking session, I put the pan on the stove burner on high heat for about ten seconds to ensure the pan is dry to prevent rust on the pan.

Since the pan is only about 2 lbs vs a heavy pan weighting over 4 lbs, do not over heat the pan by using a high flame to it.It is not necessary to use a high flame to cook your foods, a medium flame or heat setting is just fine.When I do pancakes on the pan, I use a low heat on the pan as I like my pancake to golden brown, not burned brown.The light weight pans are a good value just go easy with the heat. And you save on gas or electric using these pans.

By the way, in my cooking experiences with these pans due to lower heat setting that I use, the handle of the pan do not get so hot that I can not hold the pan handle.

Presto 07050 Cool-Touch Foldaway Griddle

Presto 07050 Cool-Touch Foldaway GriddleThe presto foldaway is a nice design with the large cooking surface and collapsable legs make it easy to store. Performance was way below what I expected. The heat is not evenly distributed at all. Even after letting it warm up for 10 to 20 minutes, the pancakes would come out with one half of one side nearly burnt, and the other half of the same side white. To avoid burning the pancakes you have to turn them before you should then the pancakes get puffy bumps on them because one side of the pancake is getting more heat on it, so the end result is a pancake that looks like volcano cake. Turning the temperature down didn't help either, it only took longer to get a pancake that looked the one I just described. While testing out the cooking surface, I was able to pour 9 pancakes, because of the uneven heating surface, the cakes on the outer edges cooked faster and the one on the top right nearest the control cooked much faster than the others. The one in the center had to be moved to the outside to finish cooking.

The only thing that folds is the side supports; when folded, it lays flatter but still takes up a lot of storage space.It cooks fairly evenly (a little hotter near the control) and really can cook 9 pancakes (or 9 eggs) at a time.It slopes slightly toward the front, which is great for bacon (drainage) but not so good for frying eggs (I sometimes shim the front sides to level it up).I haven't scratched the cooking surface yet, but I'm pretty careful with it.Overall I am very happy with it.

I really enjoy this griddle.I don't have a ton of storage space so I needed a foldaway unit.The legs fold down so it's not more than 2" wide & you can easily slide it into a storage cabinet.The heating element works well there are a couple of less-hot spots, but nothing that makes the unit unworkable.The non-stick surface is also very easy to clean.

We bought this griddle at Target for just under $40. We made 6 pancakes on it after we got it home, 4 in one batch, 2 the next. The pancakes turned out great, even better than when we used the pan on the stove. We didn't notice any cool spots. And it heated up quickly, while we prepared the batter. I believe we will get a lot of good use out of this. Also, the fact that it is fully submersible and dishwasher safe, after removing the plug in element, and has a catch tray for any grease, just makes it that much better.

I got this griddle for my birthday about a month ago as a gift.I'd been searching for a replacement for the old jumbo griddle I have because it's incredibly difficult to clean and too large for the number of people I normally feed. I've used this new griddle a couple times now and I have slightly mixed feelings for it.I really like how the plastic legs on the side fold under to make the storage profile a little smaller.The square shape also helps with storage because can fit into a cupboard easier.It's not as small as the griddles that fold in half for storage, but that's okay because I think the heating is more even this way.I wish that the control held the item/temp. equivalent chart that my old one did because now I have to look up what temperature I need for pancakes or sandwiches.The other thing that's unfortunate is that I wanted a griddle that would be easier to clean, but it turns out that the foldaway griddle is slightly wider than my sink is.I'm sure this isn't a problem if you have a dishwasher, but you might want to measure your sink before purchasing if you wash your electric griddle by hand.

On the plus side, the heating seems to be pretty evenly distributed if you let it warm up properly. And I was really surprised at how spacious the square design turned out to be.You can easily fit six good-sized pork chops on there without crowding them in the least.

Fagor Countertop Induction Cooking Set, 2-Piece

Fagor Countertop Induction Cooking Set, 2-PieceI attended a cooking class taught by the head chef at the Capital Hotel in Little Rock, AR and he used this device several time during the eveing. I bought one for myself and love it.I can just sit it on the count top and cook away without worrying about flames or heated coils.Just DO NOT USE IT ON A METAL SURFACE! think about it & you will know why!I am a house mother in a fraternity house and have a tiny apartment with no stove this is perfect.I would recommend it for anywhere, ex: camper.As long as you have electricity, you can have a stove right on the picnic table if you like.No flames to catch it on fire.Light weight, portable and works as well or better than gas.If you have caphelon sorry cannot use it on this device.But, any pan that a magnet will stick to will cook well.Try not to scratch it up as it is a glass surface device.Also you can use a razor blade scraper to clean up any big spills but they don't cook on the surface like other stoves and clean up is easier anyway.You can spread a cloth beneath it and throw it in the wash no counter to wipe.Yeah!I will even let my granddaughter cook on this device with supervision, of course.

I like the design of this cooktop, the simplicity of the controls, size, operation, power cord, noise level, all very good. And the frypan was well built and attractive for a non-stick item.

I would like to give it a 5 star rating, but can't because the unit I received was defective, and the replacement unit was also defective (but in a different way).I would like to think I just got a couple of bad units, as with proper operation, it would be a great unit.

I was excited to receive the unit, I had been reading about induction cook tops for quite some time.I already had two pans, a small carbon steel wok, and a stainless steel (with magnetic heat disk bottom) omlete pan.Plus this unit came with a really great non-stick frypan with a bottom magnetic heat disk bonded to the bottom.So I knew I had the right cookware to use. I also had an electric meter to test the wattage draw at various settings so I could evaluate the performance with each setting.

Intial set-up was simple, plug it in, place a pan with a couple of cups of water on the unit, and hit the on button.It defaulted to the #5 setting, (specified as 800w) and with-in a couple minutes water was boiling.All pans performed in a similar manner, but I did note that the wattage varied by the pan, from 600w to 700w.I continued testing the lower settings, the wattage dropped some, heating seemed consistant, the lower two settings seemed to jump from .5w to 200 to 500 and back again, as expected from what the manual said.All was fine and good, I was pretty happy with the unit.

Then I tried the higher settings, with each of the pans.Other than a slight variation in wattage, results were the same.#6 jumped the wattage up about 100, #7 another 50w to 850w, but #8, 9, & 10 would surge from 600w to 1100w, water would boil ferociously, then not, then back again.If I tried adding more water (like one quart) it took forever to get it to boil, even on the highest setting.I was so dissapointed.

I reluctantly asked Amazon for a replacement, they were great, sent me out a new one in two days, I got a pre-printed return label, a great experience.

Then to test the new unit.I was so hopeful, but where the first unit seemed to work properly on settings #6 and lower, the replacement unit seemed to surge on all the power settings, and would never rise above 900w, even on the highest settings.

It was so dissappointing.Since the unit is rated at 1600w, I think I just got two bad units. The first one worked so well in the lower settings, where one would do most of their cooking, but I need the ability to boil as well.So much promise, I really liked the unit, but the performance was not there for me.

I returned both units, and purchased an 1800w Duxtop unit.I will review it after another week of use, so far so good, I don't like the design as well, the lower settings are a bit hotter than I wanted, but lots and lots of heat at the higher settings.

KitchenAid Gourmet Distinctions Stainless Steel 16-1/2-Inch Polished Roaster with Rack

KitchenAid Gourmet Distinctions Stainless Steel 16-1/2-Inch Polished Roaster with RackI purchased this item expecting that it would be a light to medium grade stainless steel pan, would be easy to clean up, and would produce well-browned even cooking results.I was very pleased, and feel it's a fabulous value and really good quality.I prepared a wonderful "kurobuta" pork roast, and finished a sauce on top of my stove from the pan juices.There were no hot spots in the pan at all, and after all was said and done, the pan was a breeze to clean no scouring was even required!

The rack was a pleasant surprise...it is very sturdy, and fits snugly in the pan elevating contents at an appropriate height, but cradling them in a slightly rounded rack instead of a sharply angled "v" shaped rack.This allows for the liquids to evaporate evenly, coating the food being cooked well and keeping meats moist.

I'm sure the All-Clad pan for almost 4 times the price would perform very well too, but this pan performs very well and is a tremendous value.

I just used this to cook a 20 lb. turkey for Christmas dinner.The bird maxed out the pan.Next time I will not purchase larger than an 18 lb. bird as 19 or 20 is too large.

Other than the size limitation of an 18 lb. bird, the pan and rack are great and well designed.The roasting pan is plenty thick enough.Sure, it's not as thick as the 40 year old Revereware I inherited from my Grandmother, but what is now days that doesn't cost an arm and a leg?I made gravy from the drippings right in this roasting pan and did not have any problems.If your gravy burns using this pan, it's because your temp is too high and/or you're not stirring enough.I look forward to many years of use.

I really like the roasting rack. It cradles turkeys and roasts very well, while not getting itself stuck to the meat during the cooking process.

However, I was disappointed with the roasting pan itself. With it being KitchenAid Distinctions, I assumed it would be a thicker stainless steel like the rest of my set.

I like to make gravy on my stovetop with the drippings, but I'm less confident turning my back on this pan for a few seconds to drain potatoes or something because, with the thinness of the pan, the heat does not spread throughout the bottom of the pan evenly. There are distinct hot spots.

That said, the price was great. And I really do like the rack much more than any I've ever tried.

This is probably worth the price but I was quite disappointed to find that the bottom is not flat so it will not work on my flat-top stove for making sauces from the pan drippings.It is slightly indented with a slightly raised rim, therefore it does not make contact with the stove except at the edges.I'm sure this design was needed to add structural strength since overall the walls and bottom are quite thin (thinner than I expected) and would otherwise tend to warp.If you have a gas stove or a stove with raised burners, this would probably work fine.It is attractive and has a good rack.

Bought this roaster for our Thanksgiving turkey. It worked out wonderfully. It is not to heavy so when you get a 20 lb. turkey in it you can still lift the pan. It did a great job, nice browning, and the pan is easy to use with the stand up handles and easy to remove rack. It also worked wonderfully on top of the stove to make the gravy from the drippings. Couldn't be happier, I highly recomend this pan.

de Buyer Steel Frying Pan, Made of Heavy Quality Steel

de Buyer Steel Frying Pan, Made of Heavy Quality Steel - 20cmSpecs for 24 cm/9.5 in. pan:

* 9 3/8" outer diameter

* 9 1/4" inner diameter

* 6 3/4" flat bottom cooking diameter

* 1 1/2" depth

* 3/32" (~2.38 mm) thickness of steel

* 3.0 lbs. weight

The back of the minimal packaging states:

"IRON FRYING PAN * without coating * PFOA and PTFE free guaranteed * No chemicals added Environment safe protection * Ecological, recyclable, adn good for the environment * HEALTH: Iron molecules from the pan contribute to good health * Allows for high heat which seals quickly keeping vitamins and nutrients in food * COOKING QUALITIES: High temperature = perfect for SEALING, BROWNING and GRILLING * SEASONING: the more the pan is used, the better the performance * The darker it becomes the better it is for natural nonstick properties * "

The first thing I noticed was the handle had some sort of speckled coating/paint on it. The only de Buyer pan I've seen in person had a handle that was bare steel, just like the pan itself. Time will tell if the finish holds up well.

The small pamphlet did not include the "boil potato peelings" seasoning tip. The included instructions said to add 1 mm of oil and heat until smoke appears. My sister-in-law, who recommended de Buyer, had success with the potato peel method, so that is what I chose to do.

I've only used the pan a few times. It has worked almost as well as a teflon fry pan, with only a little sticking. Cleaning was very easy with hot water and a stiff brush; easier than modern (rough) cast iron. Perfect size for an omelette.

This is my first product review, so I'm witholding a 5 star rating only to see how this pan will hold up over time. I'm not sure there's really anything that could be done to improve a fry pan. I would only note that 3 lbs. may be heavy for some folks. I personally like it because it's very stable on the stove.

I can't add photos to this review, so I'll try to add it to the product description.

Tumbleweed Pottery Microwave Egg Scrambler

Tumbleweed Pottery Microwave Egg ScramblerThis cooker was exactly what I was looking for! I love that it's not plastic, and it's just the right size for 2 eggs plus any scrambler additions (ie: cheese, meat, veggies). It also makes great over medium and over hard eggs. Just don't scramble them, and cook them (1min @ a time) until they're cooked the way you like them.

Plus, the eggs slide right out of the bowl and onto your plate with the use of just a tiny bit of butter or spray. Really great product!

I've used the plastic egg microwave cookers for years and have worried about them emitting nasty chemicals just as long. I was looking for a safe microwave dish and I believe this is it. I use it with redi-egg whites to cut the cholesterol. Spray some pam in the bottom first and clean-up is a cinch. Also add a touch of butter for flavor. The little egg handle will help you pick it up. I love this dish!
