Circulon Symmetry Chocolate Hard Anodized Nonstick 11-Piece Cookware Set

Circulon Symmetry Chocolate Hard Anodized Nonstick 11-Piece Cookware SetThe non-stick coating on this cookware is called Autograph 2, it is one of the latest and best available. It is a three coat process that renders a very durable surface that can be used with metal utensils.

Purchased this set to replace our ancient mis-matched and abused pots and pans.First off I wanted to see if all of the claims were factual.Cleaned in the dishwasher, used metal utensils, even cooked eggs with no oil or spray, then used our portable induction burner.I can honestly say that everything passed with flying colors, the set is up to it all!

The hard anodised aluminum, which is stronger than steel, is thick and gives excellent heat distribution from the bottom and up the sides with no apparent "hot spots".Tried all of the cookware pieces on the induction burner with no problems at all.I will say that it's probably easier to clean this with just a wipe with a dishcloth and rinse, rather than use the dishwasher, the non stick is that good. Metal utensils worked fine, but we have so much of the nylon, as it was necessary with the old pots and pans, well, we use that.Could never fry eggs in the old stuff with out using some oil, not with this, the eggs just slide out.

We also purchased the four quart sauce pot and the covered stir fry pan to go with this set.The lid on the four quart fits the eight inch fry pan, nice to have.Have used the covered stir fry as a wok and as a steamer.Use a small stainless rack that fits in the bottom, great for steaming. Also, it does stir fry without as much heat as the old one, suppose because the heat conduction is so much better.

Am absolutely pleased with this purchase, it is tough, cooks very well and looks great!

Would I purchase again and recommend this set?----You bet I would!

()This is my first experience with a pan set in this price range. I have always been skeptical about these pricy sets, wondering if they really are any better. I have to say that I do think the price tag is worthy of the products in this case. I am in love with this set in every way.

The color is great a bronzy semi-matte metallic brown. I love the silicone grips on the lids and handles no more pot holders or oven mitts!

They are a nice weight, yet not overly bulky. They feel substantial and are a dream to cook with.

The non-stick surfaces are truly non-stick in every sense of the meaning. You know how when you dump out pasta into the strainer and there are a few lonely noodles left that kinda stick to the pan, not because they are burnt on, but just because of the starches I guess.. well that doesn't happen with these pans! EVERYTHING slides right off of and out of them. I know it is just a small rather meaningless example, but it is something that really sticks out to me as far as their performance with the non-stick coating.

They clean up so very well and super easily. Everything rinses right off. I have tried to overcook some items on/in these pans, just to really test them out and see if anything will stick, but so far nothing has. It is almost amazing. I have had other sets in the past that I thought were great, thought the non-stick coating was great, but there is something different and even better with these pans.

The sizing is great on these. I love that each piece is taller, instead of shorter and wider. The pour spout on the smaller pot is convenient.

There is something with the lids too, the way they sit on the pans or something that deters the pot from boiling over. The lids let out just enough steam I guess maybe, that it doesn't allow it to boil over. I have never used another set where I didn't have a boil over at some point. At one time or another as water was boiling for too long, the id would start to bobble and the water would boil out in between the pan and lid and of course over the side of the pan and onto the stove. This doesn't happen with this set.

The pans carmelize like heaven. I have never used a set that performed this well in that aspect. Everytime I cook with these, I fall in love all over again.

I really feel like everything cooks better in these. I originally thought the price tag was just for the brand name and they wouldn't be any better than my other Farberware set, but after using them for a while now it is easy to see that they do actually perform better overall and are worth it.

()This is our first new set or cookware in a long time and our first experience with anodized aluminum.

Anyway, on to our experience using this set, and dealing with customer service:

This is a very attractive cookware set, the chocolate brown coating is very well done IMHO and looks great on a stove top. Defintely does not look like a budget set at all.Additionally this set comes with all the bells and whistles of more expensive brands.Glass lids, silicone handles and scratch resistant teflon coatings.Metal thickness on the pots and pans seems equivalent to what is found on other sets as well.

Using the set with our gas stove has proven not to be an issue I was slightly concerned using the silicone sleeved handles with the gas cooktop.Ensuring not to use overly small pots on the biggest burner has meant this isn't an issue.

As to whether the pans are truly metal utensil safe we just don't plan on risking it.In fact our 2 quart pan developed a chip within the first couple of days of using it which we believed was a manufacturing defect. Here's the customer service part we didn't have to mail the pan back and the company promptly mailed us a new one.Great job on their part.

Small nitpick is that the handles are hollow at the base and near the tip but considering the value the set delivers in other places, I find the trade to be reasonable.

In summary, we are very happy with this.Happy cooking.

()Search Amazon or the Circulon site, and one will find a variety of cookware sets in a wide range of prices. The shopper wonders how much better the higher priced sets are and is this extra cost worth the outlay. I thought about these things when I bought Mrs. Spudman the Circulon Elite set for Christmas. She likes the set but found it wanting in number of pieces and in those lids with the annoying, hard to clean crevice on each one. When I was presented with the opportunity to review the Circulon Symmetry set of cookware, I wondered how different they could be and how much better they could be for the almost $150 price difference.

The difference in quality between the Circulon Symmentry cookware and its Elite cousin is readily apparent as one removes the new cookware from its carefully packed and protected cardboard cocoon. Each piece is resplendent in its elegance, design, and heavy composition. The handles are artfully designed and embellished with the Circulon logo. The ends of the Elite cookware have holes at the end of each piece to enable hanging. The Symmetry pieces have openings for hanging at the end of each handle, but the opening doesn't project through both sides of the handle. These pieces are so heavy that I'd be hesitant to hang them anyway.

The Symmetry pieces have a non sticking coating called Autograph. After some online research at cookware sites, Circulon and at DuPont, I concluded that the Autograph non stick treatment is a top of the line enhancement.

Other likes:

The small sauce pans have curved lips on the edges to accomodate pouring. A nice touch.

Symmetry pieces work well on our glasstop stove and heat quickly. Foods cook evenly and the only way cleanup could be easier is if somebody else did the cleaning for you.

Even though you normally can't see them, the bottoms of these pieces are aesthetic treats, shining in the middle witheasy to read, embedded printing stating the capacity of each piece.

Lids on the Symmetry pieces excel and surpass those of the Elite set. The lids are heavy and substantial with handles fastend with large screws that can be tightened as needed. No adjustments are possible on the Elite handles. Thes lids are also much easier to clean than the Elite lids because there is no hard to reach crevice built into the Symmetry lids.

We both find the chocolate exterior color very attractive. Also attractive that nonstick properties are on the outside and inside of each piece.

Finally The Circulon Elite is a nice set of pots and pans. It's a quality set one can own without breaking the bank. For those who are willing to pay more to move up a couple notches for a set that's both elegant in design and performs exquisitely, it's hard to find fault with the Circulon Symmetry set of cookware.

The cookware I ordered a month ago arrived in just a few days and I have been using all the pots and pans every day. They are the best cookware I have ever owned and I have had lots of sets in my 55 year marriage. I really love this set. They heat so even and are a breeze to wash. So far I haven't found anything to not like about them. The sets includes all the sizes of pots and pans I need. I am so happy I choose this set.

Farberware Nonstick 11-Inch Deep Skillet

Farberware Nonstick 11-Inch Deep SkilletIt's not as deep as it looked from the picture. Just the cover is very deep.

I love this pan.It is a substantial pan, not light in weight but not cumbersome either. While it really is not what I would call a deep frying pan, it does have a dome like top which will allow for largerpieces of meat to be cooked. I have found that square pans are much more functional than round, finding square pans is difficult. You can cook 5 to 6 burgers at one time verses 3 in a round pan and 5 pork chops verses 3 in a round pan.It is easy to clean. I have12 inch and10 inchRevere wear copper bottomfrying pans both with covers and they are now in the box marked GARAGE SALE!Because of it's shape it is also easier to store. Everything I have cooked in this pan hasdone very nicely and of course there is the price you can't go wrong for $8.80.

Not impressed with the size. Very shallow. I would return this this if I would have purchased this at a bick and morter store. Very cheap quality for farberware. You can do better just as well as buying one from wal-mart.

Old Mountain Pre Seasoned 10161 Cast Iron Pie Pan, 12 Inch x 9.5 Inch x 2 Inch

Old Mountain Pre Seasoned 10161 Cast Iron Pie Pan, 12 Inch x 9.5 Inch x 2 InchThe 12 inches are outside of handle to handle. The upper band is 9.75 inches. The inside bottom is 7.25 inches, if they had put this last number I don't believe I would have purchased it. The cast is good except for the handle, it could have been filed when released from the mold. The Product quality itself I would give 4.5 stars.

I use these four pans for everything I cook in the toaster oven. They are a great product. I am happy I bought four of them. I'm cooking really good now. I'm cooking better than ever now. No regrets!

Love this pie pan!!!I have always been a fan of cast iron cookware and this pie pan reminds me why.It provides even cooking and holds heat well. The best part is that I can use it on the stove top for general cooking and for baking a variety of dishes. It is non-stick and easy to clean.

I really like the pans but one handle was broken due to poor packaging. They arrived packed with small plastic pillow air bags in an over sized box. This was not well thought out as the cast iron is heavy and crushed the air bags while sliding around the box. I would recommend wrapping in heavy paper to avoid damage. Any how, one handle broken is no big deal and it's still usable and with the 4 for 3 deal on the pans it was a bargain. Although they are pie pans I use them for yeast and corn bread too. Cast iron is versatile and will last a lifetime if maintained.

Magnalite Classic 18-Inch Oval Covered Roaster

Magnalite Classic 18-Inch Oval Covered RoasterI have wanted a Magnalite Roaster for a very long time. When I searched the internet for the roaster, I located one at Amazon and at a reasonable price. When I received the roaster I was very dissatisfied with the product. The Oval Cover is out of round and their is no way that it will form a seal with the roaster.Their are gaps between the cover and roaster and the cover wobbles when it sits on top of the roaster.I know other people that have had this product for many years, and are very happy with it.I guess that either Magnalite is no longer manfucatured to the same standards as in the past or they do not perform a quality check after production and before shipping.

My first set of cookware was Magnalite and both my Mom and Grandmother owned Magnalite. This aint your usual Magnalite. It arrived warped and scratched up and was shipped in it's own box with no packing materials. It also appeared to be a return because the box had been opened and retaped shut. Not to be anti China but that's where this was maufactured. I will try to buy this made somewhere else because it looks to be a cheap immitation of the real thing.

I have used this kind of roaster for the holidays over the years and love them. It keeps the Turkey so moist and cooks very even.

The problem I have with this new one is it is made in China not the USA like my other one. The new one is not as heavy and the quality of workmanship not up to par. I never found it on the internet as a recalled item so I kept it but still am not really confortable with products made in CHINA because of the lead content in allot of their products.

I returned the product. The product was nothing close to the set of magnalite that I was trying to add to. The material was lighter in weight, the lid did not fit securely and the inside appeared to be unfinished. The texture was very rough. My original set, which is 15 years old still works perfectly and looks great.

I am originally from South Louisiana and was raised with magnalite cookware, my grandmothers, my aunts, my Mother everyone used only magnalite.I was lucky to inherit a couple of pieces but was determined to build up my own magnalite collection. Over the years I have been doing just that. There is no better cookware on the market. I have strayed and tried others but they end up being given away or thrown away and my magnalite is always there waiting to cook a superb meal. This roaster was one that took me a while to get, it is expensive but I knew it would be worth it and man oh man this thing is wonderful.

I cook a giant beef brisket in this roaster that is just so tender and juicy with a gravy that is fabulous, a turkey turns out beautiful and moist, in the summer I buy bushels of fresh okra, chop it and cook it down in this roaster with onions and tomato, bag it in ziplock bags and put it in the freezer, I have my okra for my gumbos all ready to go. And speaking of gumbo if you need to make a giant batch of gumbo this roaster will cover that task too! I use in on the stove and in the oven.

I never had a problem cleaning any of my magnalite pots, I do not put them in the dishwasher, I put a little dishwashing soap in them and some warm water let it soak a bit then use either a brillo pad or a teflon scrubber pad on them, it cleans amazingly easily. They will discolor inside over time but it has no effect on the cooking.

So many Cajun cooks lost their collections in Katrina and Rita, very sad because these were magnalite sets that had been handed down for generations! We are starting over and you can bet we will start over again with our magnalite!

You can not get anything better.

Bethany Housewares 365 Plett Pan

Bethany Housewares 365 Plett PanI have made only one attempt to use this plett pan, but it was very disappointing. No matter how well-greased the pan was, it was nearly impossible to turn the pancakes when they had cooked on one side. The pancakes stuck to the pan and burned as a result of my being unable to turn them in a timely fashion.I do not know if it is the texture of the pan, but as there were no instructions with it and it was, obviously, cheaply made in China, I would not recommend this version to anyone.

Farberware Porcelain Enamel Nonstick Straight 12-Piece Cookware Set, Black

Farberware Porcelain Enamel Nonstick Straight 12-Piece Cookware Set, BlackI have always liked Farberware. They are great pots & pan and I have used this brand exclusively for 23 years as they hold up well.

However, with the 'Porcelain Set' I have a problem with the handle on the lids.

I am referring to the handle to the lid only.Too bad.I'll have to send this set back.

Farberware P08-033 fry & sauce pan handle, long.

Farberware P08-033 fry & sauce pan handle, long.I had been struggling with a cracked handle on my Farberware fry pan for years. Finally, I solved that problem. This handle fit perfectly and was easy to install just a screwdriver.

Oh, but no new screw came with the handle. I had to use the original screw that came with the pan when I bought it. So don't throw the old screw away with the broken part. Just a warning.

This handle works great. My installation was a breeze once I heated the pan on the stove.By doing so the handle receptacle expanded and allowed for a perfect fit.Start by threading the screw through the handle and into the sauce pan until the handle just starts for its way into the receptacle for the handle. Then heat the pan until hot, add a few more turns to the screw, and repeat this process until the handle is completely seated into place.

This is a great way to keep from replacing the entire pan, and at a quarter of the price as well.

Buy Farberware P08-033 fry & sauce pan handle, long. Now

Part does not fit into mating square of pan without filing all four sides of the handle. Also, the screw hole is so far off, the head of the screw does not clear the wall of the pocket. I had to redrill the hole and grind the head of the screw.

If you need to replace the screw, it is a #10-24 x 1-1/2" long. I used a button head hex socket drive as my replacement. I recommend stainless because it will be going into the dishwasher. The new screw fit well into the old (broken) handle, but as I mentioned, the head would not clear the handle's pocket without rework.

I hope this is a knock off and not a Farberware product. Either way it will give them a bad name.

UPDATE: I called Farberware to complain about the quality of the handle and to see if I could get a replacement. They informed me that while it is likely their product, they have not made this handle for two years. Online vendors are working through their existing stock. I did find out that my pan was, remarkably after 25 years, still under warranty. So, I do have the option to return the entire pan.

FYI The Farberware rep informed me this handle was designed to fit their products made from the mid-70's through the late 90's. She gave me the exact years, but I do not recall what they were at this point. Good Luck.

I had a hard time getting this handle to fit onto my saucepan the angle was slightly different where the handle meets the pan. My Farberware is over 30 years old, so that may be why. The handle itself is well-made and looks good.

This handle does not fit the opening of my Farberware pan. I have been working on it all afternoon with a file to make it fit. I think I finally have it fairly close. Now, I have to find a screw because the handle did not come with a new screw and my old one is very worn. We'll see how that goes.

Duxtop Whole-Clad Tri-Ply Stainless Steel Induction Ready Premium Cookware with Lid

Duxtop Whole-Clad Tri-Ply Stainless Steel Induction Ready Premium Cookware SaucePan with Cover 3-QuartI bought this 6.5 Quart Saucepan to go along with an induction cooktop by the same company. To test it out though I tried it with cubed chicken breast on an electric stove, which in lesser quality pans usually causes hotspots and results in some chicken underdone, some overdone. I was impressed that the Duxtop pan heated evenly and the chicken was consistently cooked over the entire surface of the pan. When it came time to add a sauce and up the heat for reduction, it also performed well but I did need to watch the heat as not to have anything stick or burn, normal for a new pot though.

The handles stayed pretty cool and I did not need to use pot holders. This is a fairly heavy pan for the money about $27 as an Amazon Warehouse Deal and not sure I'd pay more than that considering the lid. The lid is VERY thin and does not sit exactly flush across the top of the pot; a little bend to it so it allows some steam to escape. Not a deal breaker for me. Attractive shiny finish is a plus looks great on the stove. Deglazed and cleaned up with very little effort.

Will update with induction cooking results.

Overall, so far, pleased with this purchase.

01/29/21 UPDATE: I have used this pan on the Duxtop Induction Cooktop to create an Asian stir fry with noodles. The pan heated quickly at the default setting which is 5; I raised the heat in increments to 10 and used peanut oil to help avoid smoking. It seared the chicken very quickly with barely any sticking. Some bits did begin to brown and coat the bottom of the pan. As I added four tablespoons of Thai fish sauce the brown bits quickly released and the pan deglazed very easily. The rice noodles did not stick until the very end when I allowed them to sit just a little too long while getting plates. Once the pan was empty I added a cup of water to it while it was still warm and the remaining noodles came loose easily. Cleanup was quick and only required a scrubbie sponge.

I bought this with duxtop cooktop because we are not sure if the cookware we already have can use on induction cooktop. To our surprise, the pan we received is a heavy duty stainless steel pan, the steel is much thicker than all the other cookwares we have. It works great on my induction cooktop and my electric burner. And I am pretty sure it will last forever.

Nicely made, even heating. Only negative is that the handle is too round in cross-section, making it hard to pour from the saucepan one-handed. Nevertheless a great value.

I love so much my Duxtop Whole-Clad Tri-Ply Stainless Steel Sauce pan! It's very well built, the quality is over my expectation frankly. But I think the all clad multi-ply stainless steel cook wares are expensive for me. Now, I feel I'm lucky to find my Duxtop Whole-Clad Tri-Ply Stainless Steel Sauce pan, I was suspicious about the quality, so just ordered one sauce pan to see if everything matched my expectation. LOVE IT!!!!

The top of this pan is the same size as the one I was replacing, but the sides are sloped far more. That results in a smaller usable cooking area at the bottom of the pan. Not a big deal, but now I make smaller crepes.

The nonstick surface is amazing though. I'm pretty sure even the butter was beading up.

Earth Pan Nonstick Cookware 8-Inch Skillet, Espresso

Earth Pan Nonstick Cookware 8-Inch Skillet, EspressoThis coating is awesome. I waited a couple of months to make a review of it to see how it holds up. it is great, true no stick surface! Now I need a spatula that is as "slippery". :-)

The pan worked good for a year, then it turned into a dud.

I use this for eggs 4-5 times a week.Initially it performed as described. The eggs slowly started to stick.I smoked some oil in the pan once, that pretty much killed the nonstick. It never seen to work the same when I used the dishwasher on it.The non-stick just doesn't like the heat.

I'd advise staying away.I won't be buying another.

Silit Passion 11-Inch Fry-and-Serve Pan, Energy Red

Silit Passion 11-Inch Fry-and-Serve Pan, Energy RedWe bought this pan in Germany while living there and brought it back to the states with us it's so solid and heavy it kicked up the baggage weight! But this is my partner's absolutely favorite sautee pan and we have quite a variety of good quality tri-ply and old fashioned cast iron.

The finish and cooking surface are the very definition of German craftsmanship and just a little seasoning goes a long way like the 1st reviewer says it's not "non-stick" and we're happy for that since ALL the non-stick pans are **very** toxic and not a healthy choice -

this is a kind of baked ceramic finish and just the best to cook with and healthy to boot.A piece of cookware that will last for **years** no problem.

In the first Indiana Jones film, Marian whacks a bad guy on the head with a frying pan and he goes down hard (I think he died)...meet that frying pan. Its painted like a sexy Lamborghini and is NOT light. The ceramic coating is NOT Teflon and won't flake off when you decide to boil water in it. I've fried eggs with a little butter (this isn't really non-stick), fried fish sticks, and made Chinese noodles ...all with no problems...and cleaned up the pan with water and a sponge.

The only thing that stuck a little (left a "ghost print" which eventually scrubbed off) were Chinese steamed dumplings. I've got this and the 9.5 inch frying pan and am contemplating the 8 inch model. I live in Germany, so the price isn't so insane! Keep your eyes peeled for Silit Silargan cookware like this...I can't imagine you'll be disappointed!

George Foreman SKG01GFB 12-by-15-Inch Electric Skillet with Glass Lid

George Foreman SKG01GFB 12-by-15-Inch Electric Skillet with Glass LidGeorge Foreman's name is associated with quality small appliances and this electric skillet is no exception. This medium size appliance is manufactured with a nonstick cooking surface, a diecast base, and heat resistant side handles. It looks very nice on your countertop with its black color and glass lid and it can be used to prepare many different foods.

This skillet has met and exceeded my expectations in every category. It takes only two or three minutes to reach the temperature of your choosing and the nonstick surface is so easy to clean, there is really no need to place it in a dishwasher. It is dishwasher safe if you remove the probe, but it cleans so easily, there isn't any need.

Among the many positive qualities with this electric skillet, one of the most important is its depth. Many electric skillets are shallow in design, and this severaly limits their usefulness. But this electric skillet offers plenty of depth, and that means you can use it to heat/cook foods containing liquid without any worries. The liquid won't spill, making this George Foreman Electric Skillet more versatile than most.

Another quality I like with this electric skillet is the glass lid. True, there is the added risk of breakage, but as long as you handle with care, this should not be an issue. The good thing about glass is that you can see the food as it cooks and glass makes for a more attractive appearance. With most stovetop skillets, the lids are solid metal and that means you can't see the food as it cooks. And don't worry that the lid will blow offthere is a small, round opening in the top for ventilation purposes.

George Foreman will always be known for his skill as a professional boxer, but he is eually skilled when it comes to sales of small appliances and this electric skillet is one of his best. It can be used to fry several foods at once or to keep food warm, with high walls to hold foods in place. Cleanup is a breeze and the appliance looks very attractive on most any kitchen counter. Could there be anything bad to say about this appliance? Not that I can see, and this makes it one of the best small appliances I have purchased in a long time.

Many other non-stick skillets reviewed here seem to have problems of one kind or another. When I bought this one, there were no reviews but I have two other George Foreman products one is an outdoor grill and the other is an indoor classic double-sided Foreman grill that really works well so I decided to give this one a shot. I'm glad I did! It works very well. The temperature control seems accurate, it really does take just a minute to clean up, whatever you are cooking doesn't stick and the see-through glass cover is very handy for watching items cook that require the lid to be on. It is generously sized and relatively light weight.

Finally, it was about half the price of some others I considered. What's not to like?

I gave this skillet 3 stars because it's just OK.It heats up quickly and gets very hot (almost too hot). When the thermostat shuts off the heat, whatever you are cooking stops cooking and then continues when the heat comes back on.Simmering is almost non-existent.

The non-stick surface is good (no problems).Clean up is fairly easy considering this skillet is non-submersible in water.

If I had known these things, I probably wouldn't have bought it.

I received this skillet for Christmas. this is my first electric skillet though I have used my moms in the past.

I really like this skillet. It is a large size which allows me to cook larger meals with out having to use the oven. I use it a loot for browning meat, making breakfast (pancakes cooking bacon/sausage, eggs, But my favorite use is for pasta meals I start by preparing the sauce in the skillet, i brown the meat in a separate pan add it and once the noodles are done drain them and add as well. The skillet is large enough to mix it all around (adding pasta to the sauce is a great way to prevent clumping vs keeping separate)with out creating a mess and helps keep it warm for seconds!

There are many things I really like about this frying pan; the size, the non-stick surface, but I have to agree with some other reviews about the inconsistent heating. I've used electric frying pans for 40 years and have never had this problem. There is no way to simmer foods. Either the heat is on or it's off. This makes it hard to leave the house while preparing something like sauce or chili, which need to slowly simmer for several hours. This would be a great product if this aspect could be improved.

Delonghi BG24 Perfecto Indoor Grill

Delonghi BG24 Perfecto Indoor GrillI am very satisfied with this grill; I have also given it as a gift to a relative who also loves it and uses it frequently.

Some of the problems described here (not hot enough, etc.), in my opinion, stem from improper use.Like any grill, you have to let it warm up, before plopping quarter pound hamburgers on it. My daughter over-cooked chicken breasts on it(they looked great (grill lines, etc.) but they were dry)--so the comments here about the heating element not working are simply not true.

I love the glass top that contains spattering; I also line the bottom of the grill (when cooking) with aluminum foil to make clean up easier. The grill itself is something of a pain to clean, but I put mine in the dishwasher and it comes out great.

This grill performs very well, but you have to allow sufficient time for the heating element to get the grill hot and choose the correct heat settings in connection with what you are cooking--not exactly rocket science, but judging from the reviews here, some people obviously find this challenging.

I got this grill about a week ago and I love it. First of all the cooking area is BIG.. and wonderful so that you can really cook. I also love how you can adjust the heat setting depending on what you are cooking instead of like my former George where it was 1 temp was supposed to cook all ( which burnt the outside of thick pieces of meat and chicken breast and left the inside way underdone)I also love how the fat drips down immediatlyinto the tray. On my George ( a big one) the fat would come sort of off one burger and then run into the other burger and stay therewithout ever going into the tray thing. Clean up is alot easier than George because I can stick all of it except the temp control into the sink or dishwasher to wash. I also like the lid that keeps the food from drying out while cooking and warm before it is served. I will admit it is not as fast as George but honestly the quality of food I cook is so much better b/c it has been cooked right and not just fast. This grill IMO is much more similar to cooking on an outside grill and the taste is better for it. I highly reccomed this product over it's competition, there is no comparrison! Move over George, YOU GO GRILL!

I have had my grill for a week, we've cooked lean steaks on it, pork chops, and the other night we cooked hamburgers on it.This is my first indoor grill so when one review mentioned the "George Foreman" grill was a bit faster, I was amazed I thought the Delonghi cooked pretty fast!!Clean up was really easy and one MUST remember to preheat it.I gather some have not.And as to smoking I haven't had any but then I buy lean meats and put water in the bottom if I think the food will drip a lot of fat.Fat dripping into the large tray in the bottom is what burns and causes the smoke.I've only used water once, with the hamburgers (no smoking). This really is a great grill and large enough to be more than satisfying (actual cooking space is 15"x11").Ease and comfort of use is amazing.I highly recommend it!

I've had this grill for about 2 years now but I've only used it about four times. After using it the last time I noticed blistering of the grill non-stick coating (Teflon?).I was able to scratch this off in a few places with my fingernail to verify if the coating was blistering or if these spots were just imperfections underneath.I wasn't pleasantly surprised to find that the blistering came off easily and that this could be in my food the next time I use it (healthy grilling!). I had many flects of coating on the table after running my fingernail over the blisters exposing the bare metal of the grill.

I therefore cannot recommend this product to anyone.By the way, I've only used a soapy sponge to clean the grill and never used metalic utensils on in while cooking. The "blistering" of the teflon tells me that the metal of the grill was not primed correctly before the coating was applied.Has this happened to anyone else? Before I throw this grill away I'm going to try to contact the manufacturer and see if they can replace the grill element seeing how this looks like a manufacturing defect.

This is the third Delonghi grill I have owned. The first was very similar to this model in that it had a non-stick surface. It was great.I had to replace it after 2-3 years since the power plug in unit broke.I replaced it with a Delonghi unit that did NOT have a non stick surface. It was impossible to clean.I returned it for astore credit and bought the Perfecto from Amazon on-line.I have used it 2-3 times a week since I got it.It is easy to use, easy to clean and I am very pleased with the unit.

Lodge Logic L2SP3 Cast Iron Serving Pot, Black, 2-Quart

Lodge Logic L2SP3 Cast Iron Serving Pot, Black, 2-QuartThis would be a great pot to subsitute for a dutch oven for a single person or couple because of it's smaller size.We are a family of 4 and it is the perfect size for side dishes like baked beans also. When you don't need the bigger 5 quart dutch oven, this pan gets the job done.As always, LOVE the pre-seansoning!

This is a great pot -so great in fact that within a half hour of its delivery, I was ordering a second from Amazon.

Think of it as: a two quart Dutch Oven; an 8 inch wide, three inch (almost) tall skillet WITH LID; a braising pan for a couple of chicken breasts; a sauce pan; a casserole dish.

This is a lot of pot, especially for the price!

I'd given up on cast iron because I could never seem to get and keep the iron seasoned. But Lodge's new preseasoning solves my problem -I'm now replacing all my cookware with Lodge Logic (the fact it's an American company makes me even happier).THANKS, Lodge!

This is probably the cutiest and the least used cast iron cookware in my collection. If you need to cook anything which requires stirring, this one is too small. There is too little room to toss and turn the food around. It maybe fine for heating soups and beans etc. but then its an overkill to buy something for just heating stuff. I often find myself using the 3 quart chicken frier a lot. Even if you make smaller quantities of food, you still need some room to maneuver.

I love this pot so much that I just ordered 2 more. We put all our side dishes in this. The size is perfect. It has a nice weight, not too heavy to handle.

It comes pre-seasoned which is convenient. As always with Lodge, quality is great. Nothing sticks and cleanup is a breeze.

We are trying to convert all our cooking over to cast iron. Cast iron lasts forever, cleanup is easy, things don't stick and I feel it is so much safer than using something with Teflon or aluminum.

My favorite use for this little guy is to make rice over the firepit and then dump a can of soup in. It fills you right up and comforts your soul at the same time. This pan is great on the stove and in the oven! Also, if you're ever being shot at I'm sure it could easily take a few bullets.

Norpro Cast Iron Plett Pan

Norpro Cast Iron Plett PanI picked up this pan on a bit of a whim. I don't make a lot of swedish pancakes, or any type really, and honestly I'm not usually too concerned about how perfectly round my food is.I am a big fan of cast iron cookware so don't expect one of those, "I soaked it in the sink and it left rust stains," angry iron-neophyte reviews. The pan came unseasoned but I gave it a quick scrub, did a quick stovetop seasoning, and had zero problems with sticking or anything else.

I have cast iron cookware from Lodge and a few other makers and this is as good. Pre-seasoning might have been nice but seasoning a pan isn't actually hard. The quality of the pan is higher than the packaging by a mile. They spell "plett" three different ways and managed to miscount the number of depressions when describing the pan. None of that really matters but it's good for a laugh.

The included recipe will be useful if you aren't familiar with Swedish pancakes. It's similar to a crepe recipe and produces a nice thin batter that loves to spread out. You can find other (better) recipes online. I would probably go with more egg and less flour. Traditionalists would also go for more fat. The pan would also work fine for savory pancakes and perhaps other less pancake-like dishes. The dwells are 7 centimeters in diameter -a shade under 3 inches -and quite shallow. Amazon's product description says you could make cornbread with this pan but I don't see it. Not conventional American cornbread anyway. You could use it for creative hors d'oeurves if you were minded.

The main trick to using this pan was to give the outer ring of pancakes a half-turn about mid-way through cooking to give more even browning. That might not be necessary depending on your heat source. I used a bamboo skewer to chase the edge of the pancake/make sure it wasn't sticking, then to spin each cake around. If you've seen someone making ebelskivers (there are videos online) you will know where I got the idea. Flipping the cakes took a bit of fiddling at first but wasn't actually difficult.

The main thing that keeps me from giving this five stars is that it's so specialized. It's nice, and at $15 or $16 it's not expensive, but you can do the same job with a griddle or skillet. If you want perfectly round little cakes get yourself some egg/pancake rings -you'll save a few bucks and probably take up less storage space. On the other hand, if you have plenty of space and a love for specialized cast iron cookware, add a star.

This is a typical plett pan each well is about 1/4" and it can hold exactly 1 tablespoon of liquid.Swedish pancakes are small, thin, and light. The recipe that arrived with it was wonderful. After seasoning I had a few sticking issues with the first two batches, but after that it was perfect.

I took the pan out of its box and immediately noticed that the 7 pancake holes were not straight sided like usual. The holes were very shallow.I held the pan by the handle and turned it over to look at the bottom. The "cast iron" handle snapped off and the pan fell to the floor.Back it goes!

I had really wanted one with bigger circles in it. These are around the size of cookies. A little too small for what I wanted but the pan's quality is fine and it shipped quick enough.

I bought this pan on a whim.I have never eaten authentic Plett but the descriptions sounded appealing.I seasoned the pan on the stovetop since it is 90 degrees outside. Not my preferred method but it worked.

I whipped up a batch of Plett using a 3-egg recipe I found on the web. I level Tablespoon of the batter worked perfectly.(These recipes make a LOT of Plett, but they freeze well.)I left out the sugar and put savory toppings on them.Sauteed mushrooms, smoked salmon, sliced cheese, etc.Nice contrast with the eggy texture of the Plett. They are great "pancakes" for little tykes.

Next, I used the pan for some buckwheat blini.Worked perfectly. Also used it for circles of scrambled egg and prosciutto to put on top of the blini.Made mini bacon/egg/cheese sandwiches.

Every culture has some form of pancake.Haven't tried Dosa batter yet, but I've used cornmeal andbuckwheat crepe mixtures with great success.

One thing you should know is that this pan is not the same as the pictured pad in the listing.the pan I received does not have the pour lip on the side of the pan and the pancake wells have tapered sides rather than straight sides.

It's sturdy.It's non-stick.It does what it's supposed to do.I'm very pleased.

UPDATE:I like this pan more every time I use it.I have found some tools in my kitchen that make the process easier and and cuts my cooking time in half.

1.I use Alton Brown's crepe recipe, but usually have to thin it with 2-4 Tablespoons of water if I let the batter sit overnight.I usually leave out the sugar because I usually use the plett for savory recipes.I keep a batch of sweet plett in the freezer. It is a very easy recipe and makes about 50 eggy plett/crepes.Again, they freeze well.

2.Different wells in the pan cook at different speeds, depending on their location on the pan.The 2 wells right in front of the handle cook the slowest and the center well cooks the fastest. As a result, I fill the 2 wells by the handle first and the center well last.

3.Use a pancake pen to fill the wells.

Tovolo Pancake Pen

It takes just a little bit of practice, but once you find your rhythm, it is MUCH faster than measuring each tablespoonful.I use it to fill small baking molds like bouchons and financiers as well. You could also use the cupcake pen.

4.Flipping the plett in their wells is aggravating and time consuming.Because of the egg content, they puff up and don't sit flat in the well when you turn them over.Have a second pan heated on the stove and move the plett directly to that pan to cook on the second side.It speeds up the process considerably. You can refill the wells while the plett cook on the second side in the other pan.I really like the pan below for this purpose:

Lodge Logic Pre-Seasoned Round Griddle, 10.5"

It has low sides, so you can turn the plett without burning you hand.I also use it to broil fish.I preheat it, put some oil in the bottom and put in the fish. The cast iron holds the heat, so it cooks the fish on both sides without turning.

5.Lose the barbecue skewers. They work, but they are a little slow, awkward, and can poke holes in the plett if they are a little under done. I usea mini metal frosting knife and a mini spatula.Thay are easier to use and speed up the process.

Dexter-Russell 2-by-2.5-Inch Stainless Steel and Walnut Mini Turner

and

Ateco 4.25 by 0.75-Inch Small Sized Blade Ultra Spatula

I use the small cake decorating spatula to steady one side of the plett while I slip the other spatula underneath to transfer it to the second pan.

Using these 4 items, I can cook up an entire batch of batter very quickly.
