Cuisinart Contour Stainless Open Skillet with Helper Handle

Cuisinart 422-20 Contour Stainless 8-Inch Open SkilletI received it as a Christmas gift from a friend when I mentioned my worries about the teflon. It is a wonderful skillet that I use every day. It is important to use PAM or some kind of spray to prevent the food to stick to it and to wash and dry it after each use. Low to medium heat to prevent burn marks. If it gets any yellow mark (hopefully you do not burn it), you may use "Brillo" softly to remove any stain (I have done this and it did not cause any damage). You may also use 1/2 vinegar 1/2 water (for a few lets say about 10 minutes). All that works for me. My skillet looks almost like new after constant ever day use for more than 3 months. I love it!!!!!

Bought this during the holidays, actually very beautiful (I suppose an odd thing to say about a kitchen utensil, but it makes your kitchen look that much more designer, lol ;) ).

Works just as the ad says, easy to clean too.

Ok, here's the tip, if you need a great fitting cover that's just as shiny, has glass viewing too, & a steam vent, do this:

Hint: Use olive oil spray or liquid for easy non-stick cooking. I swear by stainless steel--I don't use teflon due to the release of toxins during cooking.

We decided to try a couple of individual pieces before committing to a complete set. This skillet was the first to arrive and we tried it out at lunchtime by frying an egg for a fried egg sandwich.I had read reviews of the complete sets where people had complained about eggs sticking.I can't imagine what they were doing. They must have put an egg in a dry, hot pan.We put a little butter in the cold pan and heated it up before cracking the egg.The egg rolled around in the pan like it was on ball bearings. No sticking. This pan only requires moderate heat.It works great and looks great.I can't wait for the big skillet to arrive.I'm sure that I can convince my wife to spring for a complete set of this fine cookware.

This replaces a Tefal equivalent where the non-stick coating was starting to go.

This pan has a very solid base, and it works well on our gas range in that even at high, there were no hot spots allowing for even cooking, and the pan heats quickly too.

We were worried about straight stainless as opposed to non-stick, and we were surprised that the food doesn't attach that easily to the surface.

Cleaning with a plastic non-abrasive pad worked well, no soaking necessary, that may change after the pan gets more wear, but so far, very pleased.

The handle does not get hot or warm, even on our biggest burner at max heat after 15 minutes searing we can hold the handle without getting burned.

The sides are not the thickest metal but the pan does not flex and the build quality we found excellent compared to our other pans.

This product looks identical to the Emerill line except for the branding Cuisinard.

We're sold on this particular build quality, the next time we need a pan or a pot, we'll look for the same product line.

T-fal A8210594 Initiatives Nonstick Inside and Out Oven Safe Dishwasher Safe Fry Pan/Saute Pan Cook

T-fal A8210264 Initiatives Nonstick Inside and Out Oven Safe Dishwasher Safe 8-Inch Fry Pan / Saute Pan Cookware, Greyi agree that the pan does have a certain limited life expectancy, especially under heavy use...but for those moderate cooks, it will hold up for a few years.I have had mine for about 2.5 years and i am a moderate cook myself. It is a great pan at a great price.Good heat distribution and light-weight materials, yet rather sturdy. The handle does wobble a bit, but its stayed in place just fine. This is my pan of choice for browning or caramelizing onions and garlic!! C'est magnifique!!Great pan at this price!!!

I have used the T-Fal skillet pictured in the past and was very pleased with it, but it is NOT what I received. The pan with the red dot heat indicator is shown. The one received did not have the red dot feature, more importantly it is much thinner and has a cheaper handle attachment than the one pictured. I suspect this is due to carelessness on Amazon's part, rather than an effort to cheat customers, never the less, it is effectively a case of "bait and switch," Note that this product comes from Amazon, not an associated seller.

My first bad experience with AmazonI hope my last!

Buy T-fal A8210594 Initiatives Nonstick Inside and Out Oven Safe Dishwasher Safe Fry Pan/Saute Pan Cook Now

First, I think expensive non-stick is a waste since the cookware has to be resurfaced or replaced once it's scratched or worn.I was looking for a super slick inner surface for not a lot of buck. The T-Fal pans were it.

The inside of the pans are very slick. They are not heavily textured like other pans. This seems counter-intuitive to me; expensive pans want to last longer so they texture their surface yet that adds more surface area for the food to stick to.As an example, I have a harder time cleaning the bottom of the pans than I do the inside.

The thickness of the pan is thin.It is thick enough to even low and medium flames but it cools very quickly. It's a very nice egg pan.

My only complaint is the handle.Even as tight as the screw will go, two of my handles still move slightly side-to-side.It's not enough to affect cooking, but it's annoying.

Overall, I'm very happy with spending $10 for a super slick pan.

Anolon Advanced Bronze Hard Anodized Nonstick 12-Inch Round Griddle

Anolon Advanced Bronze Hard Anodized Nonstick 12-Inch Round GriddleThis review is for the 12" ANOLON ADVANCED BRONZE GRIDDLE PAN (without grill marks). I own several other Anolon Bronze pans and have used them over 5 months. The color is very appealing, although I find the "bronze" to be more akin to dark tan.

This pan looked perfect for my needs; a large, flat pan that utilizes all 12" of the non-stick surface. I purchased two of them to serve my direct purpose cooking large batches of pancakes and fritters.

This ANOLON ADVANCED BRONZE pan is medium-heavy weight, with a comfortable soft grip, cool touch, riveted handle. The cooking surface is deep brown-black in color and is non-stick. The exterior color is not very visible on this pan due to the low, 1/2" height profile, and although listed as Anolon BRONZE, only the handle is colored; the sides and bottom of the pan are a uniform dark gray.

PROS:

*Can utilize all 12" of pan surface, thus increasing "production".

*These pans clean up very easily, with the exception of one pan that has residual grease adhering to the exterior (eldest son used it not sure if the cooking temperature was too high).

*Eye appealing; bronze color is nice, but only visible on handle.

*Comfortable easy grip, cool touch handle.

*Bought it on sale for $50 from another vendor.

CONS:

*Manufacturer recommends only medium temps (not high) be used for cooking.

*Due the weight of the handle, the pan does not sit flat on electric stove burner, subsequently, any shortening/butter/oil used during cooking "pools" at side closest to handle. This results in uneven frying of foods. I resort to tedious tilting of the pan during cooking to assure shortening reaches all of the food.

*Difficulty regulating cooking temperature during initial use. (Note: I pre-warm my pans on LOW for several minutes to evenly disperse heat, then adjust to medium to frying.) On medium heat, the pan seems either too cool to fry crisply, or too hot, causing burned edges of fritters/pancakes. (This could, in part be due to the uneven dispersion of shortening in pan, or simply my need for an extended product "adjustment/acclimation" period.)

*Cooking surface shows minor scratches with consistent use of silicone spatula and only rare use of nylon or metal (an expected finding since non-stick pans are not impervious).

All in all, I DO LIKE these griddle pans with one MAJOR caveat the heavy handle "tilt", causing shortening to "pool" at one side. At a price point of $50-$80 per pan, I wouldn't expect such a design flaw. However, if you cook solely without use of shortenings, then this pan may be the perfect one for you.

If BUDGET CONSCIOUS, you may want to consider the ANOLON ADVANCED black griddle pan Anolon Advanced 12-Inch Open Round Griddle; cost $25-50 with the difference being the color of the handle and perhaps a basic black colored non-stick interior.

I purchased this item, because of the super value and to add to the basic 10 piece starter set I already own. These pots and pans are a nice weight and very non-stick inside and out, which makes for super easy clean up.The color is complimentary to sophisticated and goes well with most kitchen decors. I would certainly purchase this product line again in the future.

Lodge LFSR3 Sizzlin' Hot Case Iron Fajita Set

Lodge LFSR3 Sizzlin' Hot Case Iron Fajita SetIf you've ever had fajitas in a Mexican restaurant, you know one of the best parts is the sizzling plate on which the meal is brought. At home, it's not practical in most cases to bring your entire skillet out to the table, and even if you can do that it's more fun to have individual sizzling plates to serve yourself from. That's exactly what this is.Buy one per person or per two people, stick them in the oven while you make your fajitas on a larger skillet and transfer the food to this heated mini-skillet.Ba da bing! Instant sizzle that'll last right to the table and bring smiles to your family and guests.

Obviously, this is only a practical gift if fajitas are a staple item in your home.If they're not, you might consider it, particularly if you've got a family.Fajitas are incredibly healthy (just sliced proteins like chicken breast, flank steak, shrimp, whatever, with onions and peppers and whatever other veggies you want), quite cheap, fast to make and of course tons of fun when you bring those sizzling platters out to your family.Persons concerned about glutens or grains can wrap the fajitas in any strong large-leafed green. And of course you can adjust how healthy or not by adding or subtracting sour cream, cheese, guac, etc. as accompaniments.

The fajita "set" is only one skillet, along with a cute mini oven mitt customized for the skillet and a wooden undercarriage so you don't ruin your table. The skillet is a Lodge, well made and easy to keep seasoned. The little mitt is kind of cute and a nice touch.

I will say that the finish on the wood underpinnings is pretty cheap -it's starting to fade after just a few uses. That and the relatively high price (You can buy a 10" or 12" Lodge skillet for less.Which you should.) hold back the rating here to four stars.Five stars, IMO, are for a must-have item and these are by any definition a fun extravagance.

Swiss Diamond Pressure Cast Aluminum Non Stick Induction Fry Pan, Grey

Swiss Diamond Pressure Cast Aluminum Non Stick Induction Fry Pan, Grey, 12-1/2-InchWe have had our Swiss Diamond Induction Fry pan for almost a year and LOVE it.It is truly a non stick fry pan that is perfect for omelets, frying eggs, pancakes, rewarming, etc. I can use metal in it without worry. We can even flip our food in the air as it slides so easily.I just wish that I had a lid for it. Now we are saving for a large Swiss Diamond Induction skillet to fry golden brown potatoes without sticking.I am also looking to buy a small skillet for a wedding present.I would like to share something that will be useful for years to come.

I have looked for and used several non-stick pans. I am frustrated how after a year all of myprevious pans would lose their surface, and no longer be non-stick. I was hoping that I had found the holy grail, and paid well for it. Unfortunately, this pan still sticks, and does not keep up to expectations. Eggs still stick. The pan does wash up well, and is of solid construction. Yet after only using it for a month, the $100 plus price tag was not worth it.

I love cooking with this pan.The cooking surface area is larger than most pans of this type. However I'm disappointed in how easily It scratches. It works on induction cooktop which is the main reason I bought it.Nothing sticks to it and that is a huge plus.I have tried numerous types and done a lot of research and so far this is the best one I have found!

I purchased this fry pan because I moved to a new house that has an induction cooktop. It works perfectly on the cooktop with no issues. The pan is quite heavy for it's size. Not as heavy as cast iron but definitely heavier than our old non-stick skillet.Clean up is as easy as can be.Seems to be of top quality and I would no doubt recommend it.

If you like to have steady, even, and precise heating this is your pan. I was skeptical about paying so much for one stinking pan but wow, it just cooks so predictably and consistently. Perfect pancakes, perfect eggs, perfect fried veggies, perfect bacon even heating across the pan. No wobbles. No weird heat distribution.

I am using this on a Thermador induction cooktop. I also use the Emeril All-Clad pans they work ok but I only use now when the Swiss Diamond fry pan doesn't match what I'm cooking (like soup!).

Anolon Ultra Clad Stainless Steel 10-Piece Cookware Set

Anolon Ultra Clad Stainless Steel 10-Piece Cookware SetI ordered this set using my frequent flyer miles. It is the nicest cookware set I've ever owned! My previous sets were non-stick, so it did take a little getting used to cooking with stainless steel (hot pan, cold oil; food won't stick). I've only been using it for about a month but they seem very durable. They are also very stylish! I'm very satisfied with the purchase.

These are made by Meyer Corp, who also makes Circulon, Faberware, KitchenAid, Silverstone and Bonjour products. All their brands are great. I you can get these pans for less than $300 than this is one of the best buys out there for Stainless steel cookware. Consumer reports rates this set very well. It retails for $399.99, which is much to high to pay, but amazon has them at a good $300. This set is tri-ply which means that it has 3 layers of metal. The center metal is aluminum which conducts heat better than other metals. They heat fast and uniformly, which makes it nice to cook anything on/in these. My set came with some minor cosmetic damage, whether due to shipping or manufacturing, but will not effect the performance of the cookware. These tend to be fingerprint magnets as well. Overall they are a great value for what you are getting. I would also recommend one good non-stick skillet for more delicate foods and when you don't want to cook with oils.

They clean up well and unlike the reviewer who said his stained easily they have not had any issues retaining color from anything cooked in them, or changing color. The handles are very sturdy and i can see these lasting a very long time under standard use. The handles are coated in s silicon rubber that stays cool/warm to the touch. They should be somewhat safer to use with utensils than their non-stick counterparts, but I've already put scratches in one of the sauce pans. On top of it all they are oven safe up to 400F in the oven and dishwasher safe as well. I will still clean mine by hand and use wooden or plastic utensils, just because I'm like that. The overall look is nice and they shine when clean and fingerprint free. I use mine on a gas range, but they say these work well on glass and induction based cooking tops as well. I really wanted to get an All-Clad set, but the price just ins;t justified for their product. This Anolon set has surpassed my expectations and I think that you'll enjoy cooking with it as much if not more than I do.

*I'll update my review with more as I continue to use this cookware.

I received this set yesterday, it's an excellent set of cookware. The pieces seem to be built in a very quality manner, and appear to be indestructible.I cooked a small meal, and can absolutely say that this set creates a very even distribution of heat and cooked everything very nicely.

The only issue is that this set can be bought much cheaper directly from the manufacturer.

The cookware set was bought for use on an induction cooktop. It meets all expectations and cleans easily.I would like to be able to find other sized pieces to add to my set.

Want Anolon Ultra Clad Stainless Steel 10-Piece Cookware Set Discount?

I used to have three pans of All-Clad, and hoped, over time, to get more. I got a portable induction burner, which changed my cooking life, and needed appropriate pans. I got an inexpensive set at WalMart and though they weren't bad, I missed my wonderful cookware.I first bought the 1-qt saucepan and fell in love with it. I now have 3 more of this type. They are sturdy, quality pans, which also look great.

I don't like nonstick pans because one eventually ends up eating the finish, though I will get a frying pan eventually for the occasional fried egg. But, I don't really have trouble cleaning these pans. At worst, I will soak one for an hour or so, and then it cleans up easily. Usually, by the time I am done cleaning the other dishes, and if I have soaked the dirty pan while I am doing it, it cleans readily.I couldn't be happier.

Lodge Logic L8SQ3 Pre-Seasoned Cast Iron Square Skillet, 10.5-inch

Lodge Logic L8SQ3 Pre-Seasoned Cast Iron Square Skillet, 10.5-inchWe bought this one to cook steaks without a grill (500F in a oven for at least half an hour to preheat the pan, then on the stove over big flames, then one minute for each side (oil the meat, not the pan, we use egg timer) and then back in the oven for 3-5 minutes till it is done your way).Like others, I recommend to fry some fat meat or bacon first, because while the pan is seasoned, the surface is NOT smooth and will benefit from some bacon frying a lot.

This pan is useable. My biggest complaint is that the cooking surface is not 10.5 inches, the top rim is.The cooking area is only about nine, which makes a huge difference. It isn't really even big enough to cookbacon, which is why I wanted a square pan. I use it for eggs and cornbread, but I think my cornbread tastes better in a round cake pan.I like the way it looks.I am not sure how well it was pre-seasoned.

Forget about your teflon pans.Sure, they are easier to clean, but this is a REAL PAN!It weighs enough to use as a deadly weapon, in case you have ever wanted to chase somebody with a frying pan.Aside from its weight, there is something great about cooking in this pan that is hard to describe.I imagined my grandmother making bacon and eggs in a pan like this.Like an old shoe, this pan gets better every time you use it.It heats up slowly and evenly, and I have a hard time burning anything in this pan.I use it both on the stovetop and on the extra side burner on our gas grill.Like the instructions say, you clean it only with hot water and a stiff brush--no soap or dishwasher. That would defeat the purpose of a cast iron pan, which is intended to be "seasoned" by the foods you cook in it.After cleaning with hot water, it is important to dry it completely and either spray or rub it with cooking oil (or olive oil) to keep it from rusting. We store ours in the oven, since the oily surface could transfer to those wimpy pots and pans hiding in your cabinets. If your husband doesn't like to cook, buy one of these. He will feel like a MAN cooking with one of these babies.I might also add that the price is incredibly cheap, especially considering that we will be using this pan long after those teflon pans end up in the donation box. This is the kind of pan you use for 10-20 years until your kids are so embarrassed by it that they threaten to throw it away.

I tought I was going to have to give up on cornbread baked in cast iron. No matter what I did, or how I treated the molds, everything stuck!, all the time. I literally spent hours trying to "cure" my molds and pans to no avail. This was my last effort and thank you Lodge Logic, it worked! I bought the 10 1/2" square skillet and what great results. It is also just the perfect size for a homemade cornbread recipe. I now also have the 12", the 8" and just ordered the dutch oven. I'm sold on Lodge Logic and AMAZON.com. So easy to order and items always arrive promptly. Thank you so much. Another great thing about shopping at Amazon.com is you can take all the time you need, research anything you're interested in, pick from hundreds of selections and you're not getting pushed and shoved andrushed down an aisle and still not finding what you're looking for. T-fal Nonstick Dishwasher Safe Hard Enamel 8-Quart Stock Pot with Glass Lid Cookware

It's excellent quality, dishwasher safe, and large enough to cook extra of anything. I am so happy I found it at Amazon and loved the price, too. [Edit 2/22/13] I saw some critical reviews due to this being "tall & skinny". I find that to be a plus. I can use this 8-qt with my 12-qt on burners that are adjacent. I wasn't able to do that before. Despite appearances, 8-qts is 8-qts and the pot will hold....8 qts. This is perfect for soups, stews, or anything else you want to make a big amount of. True, a turkey wont fit but don't you need a roaster for that?

Pyrex 10-Piece Cookware Set

Pyrex 10-Piece Cookware Set, Stainless Steel ()I was pleasantly surprised by this set. While it's not super heavy stainless, it's definitely not flimsy either. The walls of the pans are substantial and every pan in the set has a weighted bottom.Pyrex has incorporated some innovative features in this set that make it stand out.Overall, I think it's a great set, especially for the price. The combination of pans in this set make it a perfect starter or replacement set.

Positives

* The handles are silicone covered making them easier to grip and less likely to burn the cook.Even the 6 qt pan has silicone grips on the bottom side of the handles.

* The unique feature that allows the lids to be perched on the pans prevents the frustrating drip of water all over the stove and reduces the risk of burns from steam.

* All of the pans have pour spouts, making it easier to drain or pour the contents.

* Even with the pour spouts, the lids can adequately seal the pans when positioned correctly.

* The pans and lids are a good weight, not flimsy and thin.

* All pans have a weighted bottom layer allowing them to heat evenly and prevent hot spots and warping.

* The lid handles make it easy to grip and are not likely to burn cooks or slip from hands.

* The silicone handle covers provide a non-slip spoon rest for frequently stirred dishes.

* Measurements inside every pan.

* Clear size information and care instructions on the bottom of each pan.

* Sizes and measurements are both standard and metric.

Negatives

* Only oven safe to 350 degrees, but the pans in this set are not really the type of pans that most people would use in a hotter oven anyway.

* The great handles on the lids also mean they can't be easily stacked for storage as some lids can.The set might take up more cabinet space than some because of them.

* The skillets are non-stick.Although they work beautifully now, it's been my experience that no non-stick pans remain so for more than two or three years.

Followup after more use

The innovative feature that allows you to hang the lid on the pans is actually more trouble than the dripping condensation issue of normal lids.

If your pot contains much food, the lid will touch or dip into the food when hung on the pot wall and create more of a mess than condensation would have.

The lids handles are easy grip and not likely to slip out of your hands, but for all practical purposes, the hanging feature will rarely be used.

We bought the nonstick 10-piece set about a week ago (from a brick & mortar retailer), and thought they were wonderful, especially the measurement markings and the fact that they can go in the dishwasher as well as the oven. However, we recently noticed that around the area where the lid touches the pots, bits of the non-stick coating had been scratched off. Examining the lid revealed a seam in the metal that scrapes off the nonstick coating when you spin the lid while the lid is on the pot or pan. I called Pyrex and they said that there is nothing to be concerned about, as the area where the nonstick coating had been scratched off will not affect cooking performance. I then brought up the fact that bits of coating will end up in our food, and their reply was that the coating is non-toxic. Since I do not want to take that chance, I will be returning the set.

Buy Pyrex 10-Piece Cookware Set Now

()This is a nice stainless steel set which more that the usual finishing touches. Sure they feel good, cook evenly, and have a comfortable handle... but so do a lot of other pots and pans. What sets these apart are all the thoughtful touches that Pyrex adds.

My favorite is the measurement markings, no more filling up a big stock pot 2 cups at a time with a measuring cup... all the units are printed/etched (probably laser etched, I didn't notice any texture and it doesn't quite look like ink) right on the inside. Also pretty nice is the small lip on each pot and pan, which aids in pouring and when used with the lid, you can stain off any liquid. The other feature that's cool, but I don't think I'll get as much use out of since I have the counter space is that each lid can be held up by the pot itself (see the stock pot in the picture), but it could be a huge deal for the small kitchen.

PROS:

+ Marked measuring units in all the pots (Hmmm... My measuring bowls are made by Pyrex too)

+ Self straining lid design

+ Self holding lid feature

+ Quality heft

+ Super effective non-stick coating

+ Dishwasher safe

+ Oven safe

+ Comfortable/Cool handles

+ Stylish design

CONS:

If the lid isn't centered it may let out a little more steam than desired through the pour lips (Not much though)

The pots when tapped sound a little thin, but obviously are not (I'm sure this is just me)

On the shallower pots with the lid in the self holding position it could touch/go into the food (Not a serious problem)

Oven temperature limited to 350 degrees (Probably because of the handles, anything over that and your probably in an oven made dish anyways)

The cons don't really justify any dings to my 5 star rating, since they are just reasonable compromises to allow for the improvements. If you're looking for Stainless Steel or would just like your cookware to be a little bit more convenient, then you should really consider this set.

Read Best Reviews of Pyrex 10-Piece Cookware Set Here

()This basic ten piece cooking set has lots of nifty design extras. The inside of the pots are marked with measurement lines, which could save you from having to wash measuring cups. The pots also have a pouring lip, making transferring liquids easier. The handles for the pots and pans have a nice comfortable, stylish grip. Most noticeable are the fancy lids. The lids can be hooked onto the pot while you're cooking, so you don't have to find a place to put the lids when you need to take them off.

Though the set has lots of extras, it's not my favorite choice for cooking. First, I don't really like cooking on non-stick pans, but that's just a personal preference. If you like non-stick then these non-stick will satisfy you. Second, for the price, I think pots could have been a bit more substantial. Don't get me wrong; they aren't flimsy, but I like pots a little thicker. Third, some of the improvements seem a little gimmicky to me. For example, I don't really think the redesign of the lids is as helpful as Pyrex wishes it was. Bigger, oddly shaped lids are harder to fit into your dishwasher. Also, if your pot is quite full, the lid will be partially submerged in the food, which is messy (my pots are frequently quite full).

This is a great, high quality product, but ultimately how well you like it will depend on your own personal cooking style. Look at the extras and improvements and think carefully about whether those things will really make life in YOUR kitchen easier.

You betcha it can!I HATED the thought of spending hundreds and hundreds of dollars on cookware especially when I am not a huge cook.In fact, my current cookware is from ... err ... 1979 (and boy does it show it).

A few months back I finally had to break down and buy a large part to make spaghetti.Paid close to $40 for that pot alone!Wish I had known about this set first because this is a far better deal for the same quality if not better.

I haven't used it much again because I'm not a big cook. But the pieces I have used are great.Love the fact that there are clear lids. (Old pots/pans had solid lids and I hated them.)

I'm a huge bargain shopper and I think this is one of the best deals around. Plus, it's making me want to cook more.(Better check my smoke alarms!)

Breville EW30XL Electric Gourmet Wok

Breville EW30XL Electric Gourmet WokI've done a fair amount of stirfry over the years, and for a long time had a professional level one similar to this Breville.Once it died, I did not get another, and anytime I tried to do stirfry on the oven it was a disaster.Even a new pretty powerful $800 gas oven did NOT get the on-the-stove pan hot enough.I would end up 'stewing' the food, and it bore little resemblance to my stirfry's of the past.

I was VERY impressed with the excellent instructions that are provided in the book this comes with.I studied all their tips for an hour, and was amazed at the things I did NOT know, or had forgotten.Someone who never stirfried before could get first rate results by studying just a few pages.Little things are important I used to just turn it on, and throw in the oil and wait for it to get hot.WRONG!You are supposed to turn it on EMPTY, let it get VERY hot, and only then put in the oil.And I realized I had started to get lazy, and was not doing smaller batches of items at a time, which does end up with better results.

If I need to get things out of the pan, I just hold a big bowl or plastic container next to it, and slide stuff up the side and out or I just tip it up and dump it on a plate.Although it is good to know that once every few months I could actually take it apart for an old-fashioned cleaning, all you really need to do is wipe it out with a sponge. The non-stick surface is fantastic. The temperature dial is excellent, and it comes with the most heavy duty cord you ever saw!

Stir-fry is my teenaged son's favorite meal, and without a good wok, I hardly ever cooked it for him.Now when I tell him we're having stir-fry, he's thrilled.Remember this thing would be good for a lot more than just stirfry too.I was amazed that it could slow cook as well.I can make beef stew a one pot dish. Can't wait to try it out on tempura, which it will also be great for! There are also a lot of great recipes in the book.

I bought this wok based on the reviews posted here.I have to say that I agree that it gets really hot and I am amazed at how well it performs. That being said, I have noticed that the non-stick surface has a lot of surface scratches and I use a plastic spatula.Yesterday, I made Beef Lo Mein and the pan was just as great as beforehand. However, upon washing it up in the sink, I noticed that a piece of the non-stick had peeled off.My experience with that coating suggests that this will continue to occur as I use the appliance more often. This is very disappointing as this is the best performing wok that I have ever used.I'm crossing my fingers hoping that the non-stick won't continue to peel. That would certainly betray the overall performance of an otherwise excellent appliance

Solid, heavy gage construction cooks evenly.See-through lid is equally thick, which is good because it retains heat and doesn't cause steam condensation as as most others do.

It appears non-stick coating will last -again, because heavier construction dissipates heat and won't sear the surface.Time will tell.

Would be great if base could be removed without turning over.Removing contents to a bowl for serving can be a trick.Removal for cleaning is good.

Size is smaller than Maxim? that I had previously. Not that the larger size is needed for large amounts (wok cooking tends to boil or steam large amounts instead of searing the food; rather, a larger size would make stirring easier.

Would have gotten 5 stars if larger and base were removable while cooking.

I bought this wok based on the great reviews, although I still had some trepidation about how well a non-stick, electric wok would perform. After using it for a while, I can say that my worries were baseless; this is a great wok.

The other reviews are spot-on.Some real thought went into this wok's design; it's well made and a pleasure to use.It gets super hot for searing the food, responds quickly to temperature changes, and cleanup is a snap.I've made some excellent Chinese dishese with this wok.

The only negative thing I have to say is that you can't easily lift and pour from this wok while cooking. For example, let's say you are deep frying some meat, and then need to pour off most of the oil and reserve a couple tablespoons for stir-frying.Although the wok detaches from the base, you need to manipulate a dial on the underside of the base in order to do so.Your other option is to lift the entire thing, including the base, but remember that the cord is plugged into the base. This kind of thing can be worked around, though, so I didn't think it was a big enough deal to dock a star.Just something to keep in mind.

This electric wok is fantastic. Just disregard all you've heard about how electric woks don't match up. The Breville EW30XL is different and it rates 5 stars by many people for good reasons. This wok is extremely well made and should last a lifetime. It gets so hot on the highest setting, that it melted the end of a plastic wok turner I purchased to use with it (use good quality hardwood and toss quickly). It's non-stick coating is there to stay and because of it, you use less or even no oil (be sure to use appropriate oils). Peanut oil is a perfect choice. This is a high quality wok that you will enjoy for years to come.

Wolfgang Puck 10" Round Grill Pan

Wolfgang Puck 10' Round Grill PanThis was a Christmas gift for a family member, and she really likes it.When you have a smooth ceramic cooktop, finding a grill pan is a real challenge. This does the trick.

I first purchased a Wolfgang Puck cookware stainless steel set off QVC some 3-4 years ago to supplement an older Teflon set. Since then I have been pleased with the quality of the line and the way it cooks my food. Now I have decided to completely replace the supplement set and just use WP and have no regrets doing.I have not purchased any of the Teflon cookware but I might just to judge for myself.

From the picture online, the grill marks appear larger than they are in reality. I cooked a steak on the highest setting, sear at 550 degrees, for three minutes per side, and little if any grill marks appeared on the cooked steak. In its favor, the pan was easy to clean using Zud and a soft cloth on one side and nylon scrubbers on the other. I really would like to find a product equivalent to outside grilling. George Foreman grills gave similar results. Puck 10" grill pan was purchased at Amazon.

This pan does a wonderful job of grilling meat without the added fat.We have cooked great steaks and pork tenderloin on it so far.We like the fact that the lid is glass so we can watch and see what is cooking. We already have Wolfgang set of cookware so this makes a great addition to the set!

Earth Pan Stainless Steel 9" and 11" Skillet Twin Pack

Earth Pan Stainless Steel 9' and 11' Skillet Twin PackWe were initially impressed with how slippery the surface was we could hardly flip eggs they were so slippery! However, we have had them 4 months and within a couple of months residue was sticking to the pans and we took special care never to be abrasive with them -had to be very careful to let residue actually stay on them as we couldn't get it off at all!!Now the actual finish is coming off and there are areas all over both pans where the finish is completely missing. They are impossible to clean and look awful...plus the finish is disappearing!! They are a waste of money and will not last more than 6 months if you use them much at all!Stir frying veggies, frying eggs, bacon etc. are just not possible without permanent staining, residue buildup, and the finish coming off in a few months!!I am really upset cause it was around Christmastime and I ordered one for my mother also!!I can promise they were not abused and we just had to buy new skillets as everything now sticks to them and they will NOT clean. I fried fish in one the other night and the whole battered outside stuck to the pan and wouldn't even clean off. If you have to use real abrasive cleaners you might as well write it off...the finish is coming off and we haven't even used anything abrasive on them! The inside of the handle also has two screws which collect food and don't clean easily, either.Put your money elsewhere! They won't fall apart until your 30 day return policy has expired! The rapid deterioration may be due to frying in these pans and the heat involved we have gas burners and I have no idea if it is the heat on them that has caused this but we do not heat them without food in them and if you can't use them to stir fry or fry eggs then what good are they?

These are great for a few uses & then the non stick just isn't there. High heat cooking seems to speed up the loss of the non-stick surface. They stain easily & are just a major disappointment. The instructions tell you not to use oil or butter... who cooks without oil or butter? I was thrilled for the first few uses... than sadly let down. Don't waste your money, like me. I thought after my first purchase of one pan they were great & ordered 4 more, only to realize they were not worth the money after several uses.

Well originally I loved this pan but with time(not to long) I noticed everyone was right about this pan! It stinks! As time went on the eggs stuck more and more, etc. So glad I didn't buy the set! My advice is to anyone who still wants to try it-make sure you use a small pan for a WHILE(MANY MONTHS)cook a variety of things in it and make sure to only use medium to low setting always..

There are some new green pans at bed bath I think they sell them here also, supposed to be good.

Save your money folks! This is piece of junk. I bought this only after consumer reports' smart shop recommended this product as the best overall. What a joke! They certainly need to do that research again.Like everyone else I was thrilled to use this the first three times or so but after that the food seemed to get stuck more and more to a point even a heavy coat of oil didn't help from food sticking. I couldn't fry eggs even with 1/4" oil without sticking. I mean come on that's not what I call non stick by any means. I bought 10 and 12 inch pans and I am regretting it heavily. What a total disappointment and waste of money!

These pans were great when I first bought them. However, now that I've had them for less than a year, everything sticks to them. The only thing reliable about them is that every time I clean them, more of the finish disappears.Do not buy these pans.I sadly got an entire set last year for Christmas and now I will need to reinvest this year.A wasteof a couple of hundred dollars.

Swiss Diamond Cast-Aluminum Nonstick 8-Inch Fry Pan with Lid

Swiss Diamond Cast-Aluminum Nonstick 8-Inch Fry Pan with LidOver the years, my wife and I have tried all sorts of cookware. We have a good set of Calphalon stainless-steel cookware, but we've never mastered the art of cooking sticky dishes such as eggs without a non-stick pan. We've tried every type of non-stick pan we've encountered. Some are non-stick for a short time only before the surface gets mucked up. Our best Teflon pans, such as those by Calphalon, seem to remain non-stick for a very long time with careful cleaning, but recently we've learned that when heated, Teflon (PFOA) cookware outgases chemicals that are definitely not good for you. (An advisory committee has recommended that the EPA classify PFOA as a possible carcinogen.)

Swiss Diamond is PFOA-free and fantastically non-stick. We've used our two skillets extensively to cook eggs and to brown meat, and they look and work like new. Nothing sticks. Omelets are easy to prepare. Cleanup is a breeze. The lids have vents that can be opened or closed, a useful feature. The manufacturer says you can use metal utensils, but we've stuck with plastic, so I can't say how they'll hold up to contact with metal. I can't recommend Swiss Diamond cookware too highly. It is the stuff I've been looking for for decades.

We searched locally for an 8 inch frying pan with a lid.It didn't seem to us that we were trying to find anything obscure yet, after looking in store after store, I finally decided to try Amazon.I was pleased to find both this one, as well as a more expensive one by Caphalon.I hemmed and hawed over whether I should get the more expensive pan, since I was was more familiar with the Caphalon name, but ultimately I bought this Swiss Diamond pan.

If you are indecisive like me, FEAR NOT.This pan is terrific and exceptionally well made. It's heavy not at all flimsy. It feels just as well made as Magnalite or Caphalon. It very much resembles cast iron in the way it feels, too.For a small pan, it's surprisingly thick and heavy. The handle is solid and it cooks food beautifully.I highly recommend this item.

I heard about Swiss Diamond over on the food forum & was in need of a small nonstick "egg" pan.

The person loved their s.d. so much that I thought I'd give one a try. I guess I've had it about 3 months & use it every day.It browns food well, cooks evenly, & is a breeze to clean.

I have a big drawer full of All-Clad....which I love.....but a little nonstick pan like this DOES have it's uses in my kitchen.

I have to admit that I've been treating my new baby carefully even tho they say you don't have to.We'll see how it lasts over the long haul.

I'm thinking about getting the whole set. It's about the same price as a pan & a half of the All-Clad.

PS.I often read criticism about the use of n.s. cookware but I've noticed most cooks I've seen on tv use them for certain things.......including Julia Child & Jacques Pepin.

EDIT May 2010

I have been using this dandy little pan at least twice a day for over 9 months & still love it.I haven't experienced any flaking or chipping of the non-stick material but I don't use metal with it & hand wash. The clean-up is every easy.

I have been looking for non-stick frying pans that utilize cast aluminum. If you've ever cooked with cast aluminum, you'll agree with me that it's the only way to cook. On top of that, it's difficult to find frying pans with glass lids and plastic handles. Other items I've looked at expect you to cover the pan with a dinner plate while holding the handle with an oven mitt.

I was in heaven when I found these and am in heaven when I'm cooking. No burnt food. No weird hotspots. No sticking. No burnt hands when pouring out grease. And no peeling teflon. Then I found out about the lifetime warranty.

Need I say more???
