Lodge Logic L17SK3 Pre-Seasoned Cast Iron Skillet, 17-inch

Lodge Logic L17SK3 Pre-Seasoned Cast Iron Skillet, 17-inchWith proper care this pan will last more than a lifetime. Most of the Cast Iron pans made in the late 1800's are still floating around. This pan can last that long too. While this pan is hugh and can cook lots and lots of food. It is better suited for outdoor cooking on a Campfire or a Turkey fryer base than useing in a kitchen. It is pretty big for a stove as you can have two burners heating it at once. I am glad I bought this pan. I also bought a smaller skillet for use on my home stove.

But for campfire cooking this is one of the most versitle pieces out there, you can fry in it, use it a a griddle and make monster pancakes. You can even whip up a big batch of Chili. If you likecamping or even backyard cooking this is a must have. I like to use mine with a Turkey deepfryer base as the heating element it works great.

I bought this specifically for making my homemade pizza. I've found that baking pizza in a cast iron skillet that was generously coated with shortening yielded wonderful results, whether one preferred thick (my choice), or thin crust (my wife's choice). It turns out a pastry-like crust that my extended family raves over. (Be sure to use a generous amount of olive oil in the dough..4 tablespoons per two cups of flour..)Baking it at 500 degrees is also part of the secret. The problem was that I previously had only the smaller 12" cast iron skillets, but this big boy allowed me to make a hearty pizza main course for four to five hungry adults. The cast iron also retained heat for quite a while, once out of the oven, so that my pizza stayed warm until the last slice had been eaten. Clean-up was a breeze..just wipe the pan out with a paper towel and give it a spray of cooking oil.

It's big, it's black, it's cast iron! I had the 15in skillet in my wish list for a long time when this one showed up in my gold box. I didn't even mind paying the higher price for a pre-seasoned piece which is a bonus for a skillet of this size. The two smaller handles on this one make it even easier to get in and out of the oven, not to mention giving it a better fit. It works just find on the stove top but will over hang the side a bit. A damp towell on the counter will help if your counter is not high heat proof. If you cook big meals for big crowds you're probably already in love with cast iron. Put this one on your list. And thank you Amazon; not many companies will wave shipping on somthing as heavy as cast iron.

This pan is an invaluable accessory on the burner you use for your turkey fryer. It's great cooking outside with this pan and the two loop handles make it easier to carry. And you'll need two hands to carry this pan. Also, the absence of the typical frying pan handle prevents it from being knocked or moved on the burner when working around it. If you're looking to cook large quantities of food quickly, don't hesitate to buy this pan!

The Pre-seasoning makes this pan so easy to maintain and a dream to cook with. Nice large capacity, high heat cooking without worrying about toxic teflon chemicals absorbing into food. This is healthy cooking with easy non-stick clean up.

I love making pan pizza in this skillet, everything just tastes better. You won't be dissapointed. Just brought my expensive set of teflon down the basement and am replacing with Lodge Logic.

Stansport Cast Iron Fry Pans

Stansport Cast Iron 13 Inch Fry PanHaving thrown out my latest "non stick" pan whose "non stick-ness" was peeling off, I decided to bow out of the process of moving products from the store shelf to the landfill with a brief stay in my kitchen.

This pan is nothing fancy, but works well. You could buy pre-seasoned pans for a little more money, but I recommend that you not bother.Once you have seasoned your own cookware, you will never need to throw them away.In the very worst case, you might scrape off the pan's seasoning (say, with a stainless steel scouring pad).Big deal! You can re-season it and be back in business tomorrow.

Lots of places on the Internet will tell you how to season pans.Very few will tell you about a very important initial step (and one which is only possible if you start with the bare cast iron cookware--not pre-seasoned).Buy a couple sheets of 60, 120, and 220 grit sandpaper.Start with 60 (the roughest) and sand all the inside surface with successively finer sandpaper grits.Don't rush it!Just carefully sand with each grit until the surface is as refined as that grit can make it.When you're done with the 220 grit, the whole inside will feel silky smooth.Wash with soap and warm water to get all the grit and mess out.*Now* you can season the pan.By getting rid of that initial roughness, your pan will perform better from day one, and only get better as its seasoning matures.

Enjoy your pan!It will probably become one of your favorites, and be loved just as much by your grandchildren's grandchildren.

Do not waste your time. I had an exchange sent and the second one is worse then the first. These are obvious seconds and rejects that should have been melted down and recast. Both pans are extremely porous with sharp edges all over. The second one had the inside ground in places with a hand grinder to take down rough spots.I have been using cast pans for over 30 years and have never seen pans this bad.

Slowly but surely, several years ago, I started bringing the cast iron camping gear into the kitchen and retiring the standard pots and pans.It started out with just the skillet, since it does such a great job with eggs in the morning. Then came the griddle because it leaves those grill lines in the chicken breast and is so much healthier when the fat runs off steaks & burgers.Think stove-top, reverse engineered version of George Foreman Grill. Then the dutch over came indoors because roasts & casseroles turn out so much better. Can you see now how we even toss wood into the old Weber to use as a fire pit & oven? There is no better stir fry than an open flame in the Weber with a cast iron wok.Dutch ovens with hot coals on top of the lids have produced some of the tastiest stews. Our home now has a "hybrid" kitchen with cooking being done indoors & outdoors, and the traditional outdoors cast iron cookware seeing equal time on the stovetop & in the oven.

$19 to send back. it is packed and in my basement.

I purchased this electric skillet, and to my surprise it has been the very best one I used in a long time.I love cooking with it, it heats, and cooks wonderfully fast.I would purchase another if the need arises, and truly would recommend it to all of my friends.Thank you for a wonderful product.I really like the fact that it is shallow, and does not need very much oil when frying. The maintenance is great, and the weigth is very light, it surprised me when I took it out of the box.

Thanks

KitchenAid Gourmet Aluminum Nonstick 11-Inch Covered Deep Skillet, Red

KitchenAid Gourmet Aluminum Nonstick 11-Inch Covered Deep Skillet, RedAfter 3 months the non stick surface is coming off and I do not feel it is safe to cook in. Called them for the "hassle free warranty"....that went about like you would expect it would.... I try to only use plastic utensils in it so I don't think I scratched it to start the peeling of the non stick surface, and upon closer inspection it is starting to peel in quite a few places. The lid did fit great and was a great size....granted it is a pretty low price point for a quality skillet, but I assumed it would last longer than 3 months. I have a lot of KitchenAid items but this was my first piece of cookware from them. I will continue to purchase their appliances but never again on the cookware. My opinion, spend a little more money and go up a step on quality. I know it is more money up front but I really do feel I wasted 50 bucks on this one.

This is by far the best skillet I have ever purchased, and lives up to Kitchenaid's good reputation. The only fault I can find with it, it isn't dishwasher safe.

Duncan 2-Piece Long Handle Pan Holder

Duncan 2-Piece Long Handle Pan Holder, BlackThese are cute but not functional. You cannot leave it on the pot while you are cooking, because the green material begins to smoke. On their other products they say only the black part is heat resistant, yet these are designed with both green and black on the inside part that touches the pot handle. I was looking for something to use with cast iron cookware and this is not it.

These are terrible.

I bought these for cast iron....I smelled burning rubber after only a few seconds. I thought maybe I could at least use them for my stainless steel handles....but they also melt and smell.

You may be able to use these with plastic handles....I wouldn't know, my wife made me throw them out.

Whatever you do, DO NOT leave them on the handles while you cook.

I needed to replace my old Lodge Skillet Handle after using it for many years, and decided to get this product instead. Unfortunately when the skillet handle gets hot the holder gives off a horrible, toxic smelling odor and I can actually see fumes rising from it. This is with a pan on low to medium heat, not even high. I will not allow my family to breathe this, and as I gave one of the two handles away, I can't return it. I'm throwing it away and buying another Lodge handle.

I bought these handle covers for my cast iron pans because the old cloth ones were wearing out. These get hot if left on the pan and will smoke if they get over a hot spot on the stove.

I like to use my pans in the oven and these pot holders do not allow me to pick up a cast iron skillet without additional protection.

The one bright spot is that I can put them in the top rack of the dishwasher.

This product, while it does protect my hands from the hot pot handle, I have to be careful not to put it all the way on or it starts to get so hot itself that it gives off a melting rubber smell.

Cuisinart Contour Stainless Open Skillet with Helper Handle

Cuisinart 422-20 Contour Stainless 8-Inch Open SkilletI received it as a Christmas gift from a friend when I mentioned my worries about the teflon. It is a wonderful skillet that I use every day. It is important to use PAM or some kind of spray to prevent the food to stick to it and to wash and dry it after each use. Low to medium heat to prevent burn marks. If it gets any yellow mark (hopefully you do not burn it), you may use "Brillo" softly to remove any stain (I have done this and it did not cause any damage). You may also use 1/2 vinegar 1/2 water (for a few lets say about 10 minutes). All that works for me. My skillet looks almost like new after constant ever day use for more than 3 months. I love it!!!!!

Bought this during the holidays, actually very beautiful (I suppose an odd thing to say about a kitchen utensil, but it makes your kitchen look that much more designer, lol ;) ).

Works just as the ad says, easy to clean too.

Ok, here's the tip, if you need a great fitting cover that's just as shiny, has glass viewing too, & a steam vent, do this:

We decided to try a couple of individual pieces before committing to a complete set. This skillet was the first to arrive and we tried it out at lunchtime by frying an egg for a fried egg sandwich.I had read reviews of the complete sets where people had complained about eggs sticking.I can't imagine what they were doing. They must have put an egg in a dry, hot pan.We put a little butter in the cold pan and heated it up before cracking the egg.The egg rolled around in the pan like it was on ball bearings. No sticking. This pan only requires moderate heat.It works great and looks great.I can't wait for the big skillet to arrive.I'm sure that I can convince my wife to spring for a complete set of this fine cookware.

This replaces a Tefal equivalent where the non-stick coating was starting to go.

This pan has a very solid base, and it works well on our gas range in that even at high, there were no hot spots allowing for even cooking, and the pan heats quickly too.

We were worried about straight stainless as opposed to non-stick, and we were surprised that the food doesn't attach that easily to the surface.

Cleaning with a plastic non-abrasive pad worked well, no soaking necessary, that may change after the pan gets more wear, but so far, very pleased.

The handle does not get hot or warm, even on our biggest burner at max heat after 15 minutes searing we can hold the handle without getting burned.

The sides are not the thickest metal but the pan does not flex and the build quality we found excellent compared to our other pans.

This product looks identical to the Emerill line except for the branding Cuisinard.

We're sold on this particular build quality, the next time we need a pan or a pot, we'll look for the same product line.

Le Creuset Classic Enameled Cast-Iron 6-Piece Cookware Sets

Le Creuset Classic Enameled Cast-Iron 6-Piece Cookware Set, FlameThis is by far the best cookware available. My advice, READ the manual before using if you are not familiar with the way cast iron cooks. I made the mistake of turning my burners to high heat when they function on low to medium! You will burn your food and ruin your pan if you use the high heat! Other than that (which is entirely my fault for not reading) this is so nice to have in my collection. This set is perfect to round off a cookware set.

I bought the Dune set on a lightning deal. The 5.5 qt oven had a pitting problem. Two deep pits on the bottom interior surface and many minor pits on the outside. It would be a second in the Le Creuset outlet. I contacted Amazon and they were great and sent out a replacement set, not only the oven. The second set had one pit mark on the interior side of the 5.5 qt so I keept it and sent the rest of the second set back with the first pitted 5.5 qt oven. It was a pain since the box weighs 40 pounds. Amazon did well by me but Le Creuset needs better quality control.

P.S. I lost out on the bonus since I had to order lightning fast to get the deal, so be prepared if you are tracking this set for a deal.

Buy Le Creuset Classic Enameled Cast-Iron 6-Piece Cookware Sets Now

Had this saved in my cart for about a year, and it finally hit a price point that was too good to pass up.A great complement to the 5-piece set I had purchased last year.I have not seen any pitting. Each piece will get a workout in my kitchen.A great set for those who are looking to upgrade their cookware.Satin Dune might not be the most exciting color, but it will blend in with most "standard" kitchen decor.I'm not big on everything being perfectly color matched (I have Le Creuset items in about 3 different colors now), but I know it is a consideration for some.Be sure to watch for special offers, as they come up often.

Lodge Pro-Logic P12S3 Pre-Seasoned Skillet, 12-inch

Lodge Pro-Logic P12S3 Pre-Seasoned Skillet, 12-inchI have to admit, one of the factors that lead me to buy the Lodge Pro-Logic 12" skillet was that it looked sexy.I read a lot of reviews, which were all generally favorable, but now, after having used it for a few weeks, I feel I might have been better off with the more classic design in the 12 inch.

A few things I'm going to keep in mind if I decide to replace this skillet include the size the 12' measurement refers to the outside diameter. When you take into account the sloped sides, the flat cooking surface is more like 8.5 8.75 inches.A friend has a "Wagner 1891 original" in a 10.5 inch and the cooking surface is the same, give or take a quarter inch. The sloped sides may also make it easier to tip food out of the skillet or maneuver a spatula, but if you're interested in this feature for tossing and flipping food then you need to be a strong person with strong wrists, or get ready to have both hands on the handle (or handles) this skillet is pretty heavy.

I was also expecting the handle to be more ergonomic, but It's broad and flat (about 1.5" wide) which turned out to be a little awkward for me.To hold it comfortably (and I have fairly large hands) I have to place the palm of my hand more fully on the underside of the handle for a more "underhanded" grip.Perhaps it's just me, but that's not usually how I hold a skillet.

The pre-seasoning works well there was a little bit of sticking the first time around, but I was expecting that. All reviews I've read about the best non-stick performance of cast iron say it simply comes from years of use.

If you want sloped side cast iron for tossing and flipping food, I would recommend the Lodge Logic 10" chef's skillet. It's smaller, lighter weight, has a nice curved version of the standard handle, and if you're a stickler for detail, you might enjoy the presence of the pour spouts, which are not on the pro-logic 12".

Experienced Cooks may like or need some of the features of the Pro-Logic, and some might like a collection of different shaped skillets made out of different materials for all sorts of cooking, but I'm just an average guy who liked the idea of buying one skillet which would last the rest of my life.I would recommend a time tested design over the update.

I always heard that if you are serious about beef steak, you cook it on hot cast iron. Well, after getting this pan, I found out this to be true. It's also great for chicken, pork, and lamb but I still prefer a non-stick surface for fish and eggs.

I also love the more contemporary styling. The only problem is the up-turned loop handle breaks off easily. I bought another one for a friend and it snapped off in shipping. I dropped my own (because I didn't use the loop handle) and again it snapped off.

Also...and this is not a criticism, just an observation...if you like traditional skillet cornbread, get the smaller (10 inch is good for this), more classically shaped style. The rounded sides of the pro logic skillet give the bread an odd flying saucer like quality.

Buy Lodge Pro-Logic P12S3 Pre-Seasoned Skillet, 12-inch Now

This is a great shape for omlettes and frittatas, and is non-stick if you know how to use it. I just figured this out. You need one flat-bottom pan for searing at high heat and another (this one) for delicate, medium-heat foods like eggs and fish. I used to sear in all my cast iron but it would burn off the seasoning oils and my eggs would stick. Get rid off your cancer-causing non-stick pans and try this one. You will not regret it.

I went to Macy's looking for a cast iron skillet. They just had the small skillets and they weren't pre-seasoned. The clerk recommend that I go to Williams-Sonoma, which was in the mall. Williams-Sonoma had this skillet and it was priced at $24.

This is the first time I've seen pre-seasoned cast iron. You can use it right away! I made mac'n'cheese and broiled without having to change pots. My family said that was the best mac'n'cheese I've ever made. This convince me to purchase more Lodge Pre-seasoned pots, pans, muffin cups, etc. Amazon has them priced right and the free s&h makes it more attractive. I had not used a cast iron skillet in many years, and due to not knowing how to care for it properly back then, it became rusty and I gave up on cast iron.

BUT, I was re-introduced to cast iron again a few months ago when I bought this skillet. I'm so glad, too: it's absolutely one of the best skillets I've ever had! The pre-seasoning makes it so easy to use and care for, and everything I've cooked in it turns out great. With minimal care, it stays in top condition. I just love it!

Norpro Enamel Cast Iron Panini Press

Norpro Enamel Cast Iron Panini PressI bought this to use with a Le Creuset enameled cast iron grill pan, 10-1/4 inch square.First the good news:it fits perfectly, it cost a fraction of the Le Creuset press which is around $70, it's heavy and it does the job.Preheating it for a few minutes directly on my gas stove provided nice grill marks on some sausages we grilled. Now the bad news:I seriously doubt that it is truly "enameled" cast iron.It looks no different from old fashioned cast iron, say, made by Lodge. In fact the box mine came in makes no claim to have an enamel coating.I suspect it does have a spray coating of vegetable oil to "preseason" it.The Le Creuset grill pans and presses truly are enameled cast iron. You can see the difference if you compare them side by side. Why does this make a difference? The way they explained it to me at Williams-Sonoma, the enamel gives you the best of both worlds -great heat retention from the cast iron with the easy clean-up of glass/enamel.They told me that because of the enamel the Le Creuset grill pan and press are dishwasher safe, though this is not recommended. The Norpro press must be hand washed and dried. Finally, my press came in a torn, broken box with no instructions, just a small slip of paper with a total of two panini recipes -one requiring 12 ounces of prosciutto -no heating or cleaning directions to be found.I am going to keep this press, but I want others to be informed before purchasing.

The Norprp cast iron panini press is a very good and useful gadget.I had really gotten tired of using a filled-up tea kettle as the top weight on my grilled cheese sandwiches. The press has just the right amount of weight, covers a wide area on my 11-inch calphalon grill pan, and is easy to clean (just a quick wipe-and-dry).The reason I gave it four instead of five stars is that the ridges on the underside are pretty useless. You can't really heat this thing up enough on the gas burner to use it to simultaneously grill the top-side of your sandwich as the product lit promises. It never gets hot enough and loses heat as soon as it comes off the flame. So for me it's just a fancy weight -but that's what I bought it for.

I found this exact panini press at Marshalls for $10...what a steal!

When I got home, I could not wait to use it with my Le Creuset skillet. When I bought the skillet, I did not spend the extra money for the panini press. I had seen this panini press on Amazon and toyed with the idea of buying it there and saving some money instead of spending $70 on the Le Creuset equivalent.

The panini press is a heavy cast iron and is excellent for making paninis! My tuna melt came out beautifully and clean up was a breeze. I highly recommend it, especially if you have the Le Creuset square skillet--it fits perfectly!

This item is good but not as great as it's advertised. It works very well as a heavy press but you'll still need to flip the sandwich since it doesn't stay hot enough for you to get the pretty grill marks on the top side. It's useful and definitely great if you don't wanna spend a lot of money on a fancy Panini Press!

Calphalon Tri-Ply Stainless Steel 14-Inch Roaster with Rack and Lifters

Calphalon Tri-Ply Stainless Steel 14-Inch Roaster with Rack and LiftersFor some reason the Amazon page doesn't give the actual height of the sides once its out of the box; it is about 2 7/8" if you want to know.I bought this to replace an All-Clad Petite Rosti pan.To me this is the better pan hands down.

Here's why.(1) This pan is actually clad, with stainless steel surrounding an interior aluminum core. The All-Clad pan does not have the aluminum center. So I expect this one to conduct heat better.(2) This pan is certainly is a lot lighter (I compared the weight before I gave the old one to Goodwill). I think its lighter because it has the aluminum core.(3) The bottom is pretty flat. The bottom of the All-Clad is kind of convex, which makes it harder to use over an electric burner or flat stovetop. And it is hard to make gravy in the All-Clad since the juices you're cooking down roll to the sides, but the flat bottom of this pan makes it a snap.(4) Both pans include a roasting rack, but this one does not have the two bars across the bottom that come on the All-Clad so it is much easier to clean.I have not seen a problem holding chickens in it even though the two bars are not present.(5) This pan is significantly less expensive, at least here on Amazon.

This is a great, sturdy roaster that also browns food very evenly. My only complaint would be that it is a little on the small size.I can't knock points off for that, since I knew it was only 14 inches when I bought it, but I guess I didn't realize just how small that would be when actually using it.If you're looking for a heavy-duty roaster that you can use for chickens or smaller turkeys, then this is a great buy for a Tri-Ply pan. But if you're looking to roast monstrous birds for special occasions, then I would suggest something larger.

This is a beautiful little roasting pan that easily fits a nice chicken surrounded by roasting vegetables. The best part is that the juices don't burn because it conducts heat so evenly. The bottom is flat, so you can set it on the stovetop for deglazing.

I bought the Calphalon Tri-Ply Stainless Steel 14-Inch Roaster with Rack and Lifters to roast vegetables and prepare dishes that require time on the stove top and in the oven/broiler.

My first impression was that the pan is very sturdy, but not so heavy that it's a pain to lift.I was looking for a large, but not mega-sized pan, and 14" was ideal for me. The bottom of the pan is very flat.

My first use was to make some roasted rosemary sweet potatoes in a 475 degree oven, and the pan performed flawlessly, evenly roasting the potatoes. When I used to do this on a baking sheet, I would always have a few hot spots that would burn some of the potatoes if I didn't turn them frequently, but not with this pan.My second use was for a red sauce that began on the stove top and then moved to the broiler.Again, the results were wonderful!

I don't eat meat, so I probably won't have any use for the Rack and Lifters, but they seem to be high quality and I'm sure they would work well.

Emeril by All-Clad E8840264 Chef's Stainless Steel Dishwasher Safe 8-Inch Fry Pan / Saute Pan Cookware, SilverI love this pan for cooking any thing, stew, frying a chicken even making soup. And it cleans ups so well your can not believe it.if you burn anything to it just add some hot water and soap place back on stove and reheat it up, let sit for about 15 minutes and whip out all the burned on stuff, it works. It you really did a job you may have to clean a bit with baking soda too.Best pan I have ever had. and I cook alot!

This is a great pan all the way around. It has even heat distribution, good weight, elegant look and easy to clean. The even heat and quick heat up is energy saving and insures even cooking and seasoning during the process of food preperation. The only negative is it does not come with a lid and this hurts its overall use and you cannot buy a lid for it. I have cooked eggs, steaks, pork chops and bacon all with perfect results.

As most others, I think this is a great pan and I cook a lot. But the reason I can't give it 5 stars is also stated by another reviewer. If you saute anything with gas heat at more than low, and who doesn't?, the sides of the pan scorch. I'll live with that because it's a great pan but it does take away a bit from the enjoyment.

Farberware Classic Stainless Steel 8-Inch and 10-Inch Skillet Twin Pack

Farberware Classic Stainless Steel 8-Inch and 10-Inch Skillet Twin PackGreat buy.I love Farberware.Just spray with non-stick and it comes pretty clean or use a little baking soda when cleaning it and you can get it clean out really well.I prefer these than non-stick since the non-stick coating wears off (into your food) eventually and that worries me.

The skillets are an incredible value for the price, and they look and feel really nice.In regards to cooking, they are easy to use and clean (I use baking soda for the stuck on messes). However within a few days of use, a metallic charcoal or dark gray colored fluid started seeping out onto the exterior from inside the rim each time the pans heated up.The fluid wipes off with a paper towel while it is still hot, but every time the skillets heat up, it leaks out again. When it cools down, the fluid solidifies, and I cannot wipe or clean it off with a soft sponge (don't want to scrub hard and scratch the stainless finish).I don't know what it is and if it will ever stop, but I decided to keep the pans anyways because I just need them for cooking and it does not interfere with that.

I prefer stainless steel to Teflon because of all those health concerns and these are just great for everyday cooking. No need to worry about scratching them. Very sturdy and good sizes! I only wish they came with top lids, which you need to buy separately. Very useful.

I really love this set.I don't really like the non stick surfaces that come off with the food. These stainless skillets really perform very well.I like the nice even heating and the great cleanup, it is also dishwasher safe.

8 Person Stelvio Raclette Party Grill with Granite Stone

8 Person Stelvio Raclette Party Grill with Granite StoneI was very disappointed to unpack this item and only find the granite top included. The pictures show both a granite top and a metal top.The description also states it come with "Reversible non-stick top for grilling; flip over to cook eggs, pancakes, and crepes."That reversible top was not included and I'm waiting to hear what the company is going to do about it.

This is our second raclette by Swissmar and I was excited to try the granite top.I quickly learned that it doesn't get as hot as the reversible metal top on my other raclette and it doesn't cook meat or vegetables nearly as fast.I know I can put it in my over to get it hotter than the element can do and then put it on the raclette but the element should be able to heat it enough to cook as the metal grills cook.Because there is no lip on the granite top, it is difficult to turn things over with a spatula. The cutout around the grill for juices to run into fills up quickly and then the grill overflows onto the table or counter. We love our raclette with the metal top and use it 2 -3 times a week and have created lots of great recipes for it.We were excited to get the second one so we could have people over for dinner as the first is way too small for 8 people. Now we have two but one doesn't cook well because it only has the granite top.

Cuisinart Chef's Classic Enameled Cast Iron Round Covered Casserole Collection

Cuisinart CI650-25CR Chef's Classic Enameled Cast Iron 5-Quart Round Covered Casserole, Cardinal RedThe enameled cast iron casserole, or dutch oven, is a great addition to any chef's kitchen. It generally becomes a family heirloom, because the pot will outlast the chef.

The most well known brand is Le Creuset, but those are also the most expensive.I've found this Cuisinart to be very capable and it's about half the price. Its taken some punishment from me over the past few weeks and performed admirably.

I have a Le Creuset enameled aluminum stock pot.I can't see a noticeable difference in the quality of their enameling. This bad boy is serious cookware for serious cooking.

If you are looking for affordable enameled cast iron this is it.I've used Le Creuset many times and it is great cookware...but this is just as good for much less money.I bought this piece the 7qt oval Dutch Oven in Cherry Red for $89.90 on Amamzon..(the corresponding Le Creuset piece goes for $275.00) and is is beautifully made...not like some of the cheaper knock-offs.Its VERY heavy and the enamel is applied perfectly. Will buy additional pieces (5qt Dutch Oven, grill pan etc.) now that I know Cuisinart makes their Enameled Cast Iron so well.

I bought this enameled cast iron pan in hopes that it would be high enough quality to last. Unfortunately, I found cracks in the enamel after only two uses of very light wear. My stovetop use did not exceed the medium setting and my oven use didn't exceed 300 degrees. I would consider that very gentle handling! I will be returning this and buying a le creuset in hopes of a better result.

I bought one of these pans recently (retail) for about $70.The first thing I cooked in it was a nice lean pork loin roast. There's just something about cooking in cast iron everything comes out juicy and delicious. Also this Cuisinart pot has such a nice finish, it cleaned up SO easily, I barely had to wipe it! I did put a skim of veg oil in the bottom before I added the roast.Anyway, I won't be spending the $$ for Le Creuset enamel cookware any more.

This was purchased for me to encourage my growing love for cooking. I bought a Le Creuset Enameled Cast-Iron 5-1/2-Quart Round French Oven, Red last year. Sadly this Cuisinart does not come close to the same quality of manufacture.

After a few weeks the lid of the Cuisinart pot started to rust and became immediately unusable! Now into only the 2nd month of regular use the bottom can be seen to be noticeably wearing away ): Please see my uploaded images at the top of this Amazon listing.

I don't expectthis pot to last more than 6-9 months at the current rate of wear. I have been very happy with the cooking performance of enameled cast iron cookware, but from now on I will stick with the quality and Lifetime Warranty of Le Creuset.

Peace, Ben
