KitchenAid Gourmet Reserved Hard Base Round Grill Pans

KitchenAid Gourmet Reserved Hard Base 11-Inch Deep Round Grill Pan, RedI've been wanting a grill pan for quite some time and since putting my outdoor grill 'to rest' for the winter decided it was a perfect time to purchase one.An excellent decision as this deep sided grill pan exceeded my expectations! The secret to using the grill pan is to only use medium to low heat and always use a splatter guard.Steak, pork and chicken, turn out perfectly cooked and juicy.Beats using the oven broiler as there is less clean-up and no smoke. This was an excellent purchase with a great price.

At first I thought this pan was too light, but after using it have found it to cook quickly and evenly. The coating has held up well too and I use this pan a lot. Comes in very handy when the weather outside isn't cooperating with grilling outdoors. Kitchenaid comes through again with this pan.

Pan Gripper Deep Dish Model

Pan Gripper Deep Dish ModelIf your a cook of homemade pizza, and you have the high sided pans used in making pan pizza, you'll wonder how you ever got along without this useful little item.I got mine from the same company that produces and sells the aluminum 14" pizza pans on Amazon. It has been well worth the purchase price of a few bucks, and is very well made and sturdy. What I like about the design is that the tighter you squeeze on the clamp handle the tighter it grips the pan. This clamping handle will also work on any high sided metal baking pan; I put it to the test by lifting a hot, food filled 10" cast iron skillet from the oven just the other day.It worked with no difficulty what-so-ever, and offered a great leverage advantage on a very heavy pan.I wouldn't use it with glass pans though, as the pressure would obviously crack them. But for cakes, pies, and of course pizza, you can't go wrong having one of these clamp handles available for lifting hot pans from the oven.

Amazon recommended this gripper along with fourteen inch diameter, 2" deep pizza pans.

It will not handle 2" deep pans, in fact most "grippers" on the market will not do 2" deep

pans.

After trying to use this gripper... I put it in the drawer and went back to computer to look for another brand.... I was so dissappointed in this gripper.... It is very clumsy to use. Its not very well made and with no silicone covering the tong end it slips off the pan.. The handle arebent in a way thatmakes it difficult to use... I do not recommend this product...I have since found another product similar with silicone covered handles and rubber ends on the tongs that grip the pan to be lifted.... It was much better... Save your money....

This item had come up on what other customers had bought several times and after reading the reviews and burning myself a few times I decided to order. This is great for repositioning hot pans in the oven as well as lifting them. It really gripsthe pan. It is one of the little things that is really nice to have and ,fortunately, does not take up much space.

Also, a great item to have for the no knead bread baker. This handy little device enables the pan used on the bottom of the oven to be easily pulled out, the water quickly added, and then moved back into the oven before closing the oven door as the author of Artisan Bread in Five Minutes a Day: The Discovery That Revolutionizes Home Baking bread instructs to get that delightful crispy crust.

Very happy with MV Trading's sevice. Will do business with this seller again.

UPDATE: The rivets in the handle broke as some other reviewers complained. The fix is inexpensive and quick (less than 5 minutes).

two 6/32 X 1 1/2 bolt and two 6/32 self-locking nuts.

Viola! A better than newinexpensive kitchen gadget that I have come to depend on and use frequently.

We ordered the 14" deep dish pan and the gripper. But taking the pizza out of the oven, the gripper part that held the pan twisted and almost sent the pizza to the floor. It is a great concept just don't use it for the 14" pan, the pizza is just too heavy for it.

Calphalon UNISON Nonstick 12-inch Everyday Pan

Calphalon UNISON Nonstick 12-inch Everyday PanFast, simple, one pan cooking at its best is possible with this Calphalon Unison Nonstick 12-inch Everyday Pan. The nonstick interior is lightly textured to help properly sear meats, meaning you can think beyond skillet dinners-in-a-box or casseroles. To take the pan on a "test run", I preheated over medium-low heat on my gas stove top burner, lightly coated the interior with cooking oil spray and browned both sides of three chicken leg quarters within about 7 minutes, I then added a cup of water and chopped, fresh vegetables around the chicken legs, sprinkled on some seasonings, covered, reduced the heat to low and simmered everything for just under 20 minutes. The result? A delicious, healthy, quick and easy meal for my family at less than $3.00 total for all ingredients. I'll try to upload a picture.

Important information for anyone buying any kind of nonstick cookware, including Calphalon Unison (which is the very best by my experience), is to never have your stove top burner set higher than medium, always use wooden, plastic or nylon utinsels, and lightly oil the interior occasionally after washing. Although Unison cookware is supposed to be oven safe to 500 degrees, I wouldn't (personally) place it in an oven hotter than 400 degrees... I generally set my oven temperature at no higher than 375 for anything that isn't dedicated bakeware. With simple care, this Everyday Pan should last for years. I love that it's large enough to make a meal in one pan so cleanup isn't a chore after a meal.

Having tried many, many brands of regular and nonstick cookware over the years, Calphalon Unison pieces have proven to be the most durable and reliable with daily, heavy use. Yes, it's expensive, but so is replacing a less expensive, lower quality, much-used pan every two to five years. If you're able to pick up this brand at a reduced price you'll save even more money over time.

Pan was shipped promptly and was well packed.GREAT price.Calphalon says it can go in the dishwasher, but I haven't tried that yet.Not sure I want to chance dulling the outside finish.I like the TWO handles, as a 12" pan is two heavy for me to lift with one handle when it is full of food.I have never had a glass lid before. I liked being able to see in as the food cooked; but I don't like that glass can break. This finish is "sear" rather than regular non-stick, so it is supposed to be able to brown food before simmering.Haven't tried that yet, either.

In the store I had to buy a lot of Calphalon to get this, but here, I just bought it for a great price. It's a great piece of cookware. The new Unison non-stick, dishwasher approved cookware is wonderful. And this pan does great saute dishes I download from the food network.

Buy it and enjoy it. It's a great deal.

This item says it is induction compatible, but not really. Our high-end Bosch induction cook top has worked with EVERY SINGLE PAN we have used on it (that is induction friendly) EXCEPT this one.Even the $10 Walmart generic pans work better. This pan only works on a single "burner", the smallest of those on the stove which is also closest to the wall. That means the over-sized pan has two major problems for us:

1) The pan cannot be easily manipulated because it is too close to the back wall.

2) The pan does not get nearly hot enough.Even on 8-of-10 (which is normally VERY HOT for most pans) this thing barely gets warm other than dead-center in the bottom of the pan, a 6" diameter area. The sidesof the pan, which is the whole reason to get a pan of this style, stay cool enough that nothing cooks if it is not touching the middle center of the pan.

Maybe this pan works on other induction tops but definitely not ours.Sadly I cannot find the cardboard logo wrapper that was around the pan, so we dropped $40 on something that is useless to us.Maybe I can send it to my mother's place and it will work better on a standard electric range.

Sadly disappointed. It looks great, but I don't but pans to look at them... in fact they hide in the cabinets under the cook top, so this really serves zero purpose for us.

There is about a one-inch x quarter inch area near the bottom of the pot where the colored finish didn't cover properly.Looks like it came off the assembly line that way.Guess that's the chance one takes when ordering on line.A slightly defective piece can be shipped with the hope that the person won't return it (the case with me). However, I am still disappointed that I was sent a less-than-top-quality pot.

Tramontina Style Simple Cooking Fry Pan

Tramontina Style Simple Cooking Fry PanI love this pan so much! It makes the best bacon perfectly evenly cooked and nice wavy strips. It also makes the best fried eggs. With one little spray of cooking oil you can flip your eggs over in the air just using the pan no spatula needed! I've also loved it for potatoes such as hash browns. The only thing I did not like it for was browning ground beef because the pan is almost too slippery it makes it hard to break up and crumble the meat in the pan with a wooden spoon. Another great thing about these pans is how easily they clean up. I highly recommend them!

Magnalite Classic 13-Piece Cookware Set

Magnalite Classic 13-Piece Cookware SetI own five pieces of this cookware branded Magnalite. Four pieces were my mother's. She had them for over thirty years. They were made and marked by General Housewares Corp (GHC), an Indiana company, at their plant in Sidney, Ohio. The fifth piece was made there too but not by GHC and that's the problem. GHC made Magnalite up until 1995 when they sold the name Magnalite and the plant. The fourth piece I own was made in Ohio after 1995 by another company. Though it looks similiar in design, it is measurably half the thickness and weight of my mother's pieces. There is also another company that is using the name Magnalite that is making them in China. Replacement parts for the new Magnalite will not fit the original old pieces. So todays Magnalite is not the same as your mother's. Be advised.

My mother has had this line since she was married in 1970.They have been through everything from burnt-on peanut brittle syrup that required a few hours of steel wool and elbow grease to remove to 35 years of dishwasher cleanings.I expect she'll go to her grave with these pots.I, on the other hand, was married four years ago and recieved a "top-of-the-line" brand of cookware that has a non-stick coating that cost the same as this set.I've now had to replace the non-stick pans because the coating has started to peel, and my pans have never heated as evenly as those of my mother's.I've invested in Magnalites, and I expect they'll be the last cookware I'll ever buy.

The solid contruction and well machined lids make these a joy to use.We didn't want high maint. type of cookware just a high quality, easy to use and maintain product that looks good on the pot racks but cooks well every day.Boy we are impressed! These cook with even heat and the only negative found was that the lids fit so well you have remember to take them off befor the dish cools or a vacume can form inside requiring reheat to remove the lid. They are easy to clean and a dream to handle.

Cuisinart GR-3 Griddler Jr 3-in-1 Nonstick Countertop Grill

Cuisinart GR-3 Griddler Jr 3-in-1 Nonstick Countertop GrillBefore deciding to buy the Griddler Jr. I called Cuisinart (and got someone on the line within a few minutes) to ask about the wattage rating of this product, which I could not find listed on Cuisinart's site or in the manual for this product (which is available in PDF format at their site). It's 1200 watts. The GR-4, which I guess is Griddler "Senior," is rated at 1500 watts. The tiny Hamilton Beach indoor grill (with NON-removable grills) that I used before getting the Griddler Jr. is rated at 750 watts.

According to an article titled "Grill Power" in the February, 2006 issue of Prevention Magazine, Steven Raichlen, host of Barbecue University on PBS, says, "The lower the wattage [of indoor electric grills], the less likely your meat will taste like it came from an outdoor barbecue. It'll taste like it was steamed, instead." The author of the article, Amanda Pressner, suggests choosing an indoor electric grill "at least 1000 to 1500 watts. Smaller appliances usually use around 750 watts; that won't get hot enough to really brown your food or apply grill marks."

So far I have cooked chicken, salmon, lean ground beef burgers, petite sirloin steaks, vegetables, panini, chicken quesadillas, beef quesadillas, plain old grilled cheese sandwiches, and Oscar Mayer Turkey Smoked Sausage on my Griddler Jr. Boneless chicken breasts come out juicy really juicy with serious grill marks and tasting great. Panini wow; comes out great. Quesadillas come out great, with grill marks, and they go straight to the table nice and hot.

Before learning about the importance of wattage, my main reason for wanting to upgrade from the Hamilton Beach to the Cuisinart Griddler Jr. was because the Griddler Jr. has removable grills to facilitate easy cleaning. But the Griddler Jr. has so much more going for it... With it's stainless finish (all of the exterior but the handle and base are stainless steel), it's a handsome kitchen appliance. If your kitchen has room for it, you'll want to leave it out where it can be seen. It's "floating lid" allows you to get a thick piece of poultry or meat inside it or a thick sandwich or panini, and the top and bottom grills will make even contact with whatever is being cooked. And although this is the "Jr." sized model, it is a good size. The surfaces of the grills measure (by my own measurements) 7 1/8 X 11 1/8. The entire unit, when you include the handle, etc., fits in a footprint that is approximately 13 X 12.

The Griddler Jr. has a red "on" light to the left of the heat control knob, and a green light to the right that comes on when the grills have reached the setting you've turned the knob to. At the highest setting, the grills get very hot. I find that I can cook a panini so that it is hot on the outside with melted cheese and warm to hot insides in about 6 minutes after the green light comes on, with the dial set to the medium temperature setting. Cooking a boneless chicken breast at that setting takes about 10-12 minutes (I use a fork-type battery operated thermometer to check the internal temperature of the chicken).

It is so easy to clean. When done cooking with it, turn the knob to the off position, unplug the unit, and leave it open to cool while you eat. After 30 minutes the unit is completely cool and the grills can be easily removed for washing, and if all you've cooked is panini and there's not a big mess on the grills, they can probably be wiped clean without removing them.

Before getting the Griddler Jr., I ordered a full size Griddler model GR-4 from Amazon's Warehouse Deals, where it was sold at a reduced price and listed as an open box unit. When I received it the handle was broken, and so I returned it. Getting to see it made me realize that it was larger than what I needed, and I didn't really need the two-sided grills that the GR-4 comes with. I mention this because it is obvious that both the full size Griddler and the Griddler Jr. are manufactured up to the same high standards. The Griddler Jr. is just that, a junior or smaller and less functional version of its parent (less functional in that it doesn't have reversible grills), as opposed to a lower quality version. The same high quality is there.

I love it. I'm so glad I got it. I'd recommend it without hesitation to anyone who is in the market for an indoor grill.

I'd been looking at panini grills for years, but had never found the perfect model. Many of the grills I looked at in stores seemed very cheap and poorly built. One clear exception was the Cuisinart grill, which was very well constructed, but it was very expensive and also very large. When I saw this new Cuisinart Junior, I decided to take the plunge. It has become the hit of our kitchen. Making fancy grilled sandwiches has become a highlight of our weekends. My teenage kids love the sandwiches off the grill, and they don't seem to notice that they're eating healthier than before. The quality of panini sandwiches off this little grill is far superior to the paninis we get at our local restaurants.

Here are the features that make this grill a winner for me:

The grill plates really are nonstick. I've never had to do more than wipe them clean, even when drippings seem to have burned on. The plates remove super easily, and also snap back in very easily.

The grill pre-heats very quickly. I turn it on before I start making the sandwich, and it's always hot enough by the time the sandwich is assembled.

The grill always creates the perfectly grilled panini. When I used to make grilled sandwiches in a frying pan, getting them perfectly grilled without burning was hit or miss. With this grill, I just set the dial a bit shy of medium and every sandwich comes out perfectly grilled.

The hinged lid let's us make fairly huge sandwiches (a few inches thick). This might not sound like a big deal, but it's key to having fun with the grill, since it let's you make creative sandwiches that you could never cook all the way through or flip in a frying pan.

The small size is perfect. It cooks one very large or two smaller panini, and it doesn't take up a ton of counter space. It's small enough that I can leave it out all the time, which makes it a lot more convenient to use.

One thing to be careful of:The lid does get hot. Make sure you only use the handle for opening and closing. I wouldn't let younger kids work the grill by themselves.

I have not tried cooking meat with the grill. We use it strictly as a panini grill.

I don't generally get excited about kitchen appliances, but this little grill is downright fun. Any gadget that can get my teenagers psyched about going to the grocery store to find wacky things they can turn into grilled sandwiches is a hit in my book.(BTW, our favorite sandwiches so far are: tomato and fresh mozzarela with basil pesto; chicken, apple, and raspberry with provolone; and pear with brie. My apologies if I'm not spelling some of these foods right.)

Great purchase. Getting used more heavily than our stove. I'm hooked.

The grill has a modern brushed stainless steel finish that will fit in well with any kitchen. It is compact, light in weight, but heats up quickly to the appropriate temperature. Veggies, fish, chicken and steak cook evenly and quickly. It toasts panini's well even with the thickest bread and a multitude of fillings. The plates snap out easily so you can pop them into your sink or dishwasher and the plasticcleaning tool is well designed to let you get into the grooves and remove any grease. The only draw back is if you are grilling a large steak some of the grease may miss the drip cup and dripdown the front of the unit, but I guess that's why sponges were invented. All in all a fine product that is useful in any kitchen.

Read Best Reviews of Cuisinart GR-3 Griddler Jr 3-in-1 Nonstick Countertop Grill Here

The unit is small enough to fit almost anywhere. It cooks very well and sometimes too well if you have the heat on too high.I have used it to cook steaks, pork chops, hamburgers, bacon, sausages and grilled cheese sandwiches. And if you like hash browns but want to avoid immersing it in grease (bad for cholesterol!), get the shredded type and cook it in this unit.Works very well!

If the bacon is too long, you may have to cut it in half (minor irritation) to fit but otherwise it does a great job.

The main problem as others have pointed out ... GREASE DRIPPINGS! ... Aaaargh! Those drip cups are next to useless! They could have at least done two things to make it better.Design the DRIP spouts (where the grease drips from)a bit longer with a better lip or design the drip cups higher so it fits perfectly under the drip spouts.

The reason they didn't is because the metal gets hot that the plastic will melt if it touches the plates. I know cause I toasted one of my plastic measuring cups. So, why not make the drip cups out of metal?

Other than that, the unit works very well! But cleaning the grease all over the counter and especially under the unit can be very aggravating if one has to do it after every use.#@$!%$#and more explatives!

Inspite of that I gave it four stars simply because it works well and best of all, it's easy to clean the removable plates!Wait till it's cool, run it through some hot water while brushing it lightly with a soft brush with some dish soap .. dry it and you're done!

Addendum: (12-22-2009)

In regards to the drip spouts, I think that had they made it another 1/4" longer and angled it down, it would help in avoiding the drippings from running underneath the spout and down against the unit.

Berndes Cucinare Stainless Induction 10-Piece Cookware Set

Berndes Cucinare Stainless Induction 10-Piece Cookware SetBeautiful finish and sturdy construction was my 1st impression on this set. I was concerned that some of the pots do not come with matching lids. However, after using our GE induction cooktop range for a month now the lids are not needed. The entire base of the pot becomes the heating element so the cooking is very even.

The pots can be a little tricky as far as sticking. Butter, olive oil or Pam is mandatory for keeping food from adhering to the pots. A neat trick we found if you do get burned on or stained surfaces is to put water in the pot, pour some super washing soda in and bring it to a boil. Let the pot sit for an hour or when you're ready to wash dishes and the stuff magically rinses clean. But all in all it is a very well built set and the cost makes it seem like a bargain.

These pots are of excellent quality and beauty. I've been using mine for more than one year now and they still look like new. If they stain, it is enough to rinse them with a mixture of water and vinegar and they go right back to their initial beauty.

When the set of cookware arrived, one of the lids was damaged, not in shipping but in manufacturing.Long story short, I had nothing but trouble with the U.S. distributor of the product (Range Kleen in Ohio). And frankly, Stores123, the Amazon partner who I purchased the product from, wasn't much better. All I wanted was a new lid.I ended up requesting to send the whole set back or I would simply dispute the charge with my credit card company. No resolution yet.I will never consider a purchase of Berndes or Range Kleen products of any sort, and welcome the opportunity to let people to know how uncooperative the company was with a customer who received a damaged product.

Great cookware, have not had any problems. I want to leave them out on my cooktop because they are so lovely. After 2 years of use I still love this cookware, our lids are perfect and we have not had any problems. We do find sticking occurs if not properly using a fat which can be a problem for us since we try and not use oil/butter but overall have been a great addition to our kitchen.

Lodge Silicone Hot Handle Holder

Lodge ASHH41 Silicone Hot Handle Holder, RedEDIT: Now that I have about a month using these holders under my belt, I've learned more how to use them better. Still, my original review below pretty much stands. So, I found that trying to firmly grasp the silicone handles the way you would using a cloth isn't the best way to go about using these handles. Using a looser grip allowing the front bottom of the holder to sit on your index finger and the rear top of the holder to press up against your palm provides a much better grip and control of the pan. It's a looser bottom-front and top-rear balance that works best. This method even mostly negates the lubrication effect from modestly oily pan handles. You still don't want oily handles or you're asking for it. So try that looser balancing grip instead of the firm clench grip. :)

Also, a note on the cloth Hot Handles that are supposedly-silicone lined. Um, they're not silicone-lined. At least not with any kind of silicone I've ever seen. And don't ask me why, but the multi-colored hot pepper design holder is a bit bigger and its interior just looks like the metalized cloth we've been using on the contact surface of cloth oven mitts for decades. The red hot pepper design has a cream colored teri cloth inside and is just a bit smaller than the multi-colored pepper holders. I like the multi-colored pepper holders the best both for the interior, feel and pattern.

If I'm cooking on low heat I leave the silicone handles on. If I'm sauteeing, and therefore flipping, or if I'm using higher heat I use the cloth handles and put 'em on as needed and remove 'em when done.

ORIGINAL REVIEW:

Okay, I will take for granted that if you're reading this you already have a Lodge cast iron pan(s). They are fantastic pans that have reignited my love of cooking. My Analon Pro pans sit in the cupboard doing nothing now other than loan their great glass lids to the Lodge pans.

But this isn't about the pans. Despite their very humble price, all of us who own Lodge know that they are superior pans already. This is about this handle holder. If you've used silicone in the past as a pot holder or oven mitt, you know that it is an excellent heat barrier and very very easy to clean and dries almost instantly. This holder is no different. It can be left on the pans even when they are on medium high heat and though they get hot, not hot enough so the pan can't be lifted.

The problem with this holder is that it only comes in one size and is internally deeply ribbed (presumably to create an air channel and less contact for cooling efficiency). I have 6.5" through 15" Lodge pans. Each handle is a different size and shape. The 6.5" is so small that this holder allows the handle to just slosh around inside. The only way to get a confident grip on the pan with the holder on is to really squeeze down on the holder. As the holder is quite thick, it won't fold over and the internal ribs prevent real compression of the holder. Sort of a spring action. In short, the little handle is so short and narrow that this holder just swallows it up and confident grasp is really not possible. Factor this in with the fact that oil/grease finds its way up cast iron handles and you have a real issue because of the internal ribs. There is very little actual contact between the holder and the handle because of these ribs. Good for low heat transfer. REALLY bad for grabbing the handle.

But who uses such tiny pans other than myself? Let's talk about the 10" that everybody uses. The fit here is much much better. Still, not snug enough. Unlike with the 6.5" pan, heft and weight of the pan is an issue. Though the fit is more snug, the greater effort maneuvering the 10" gives a less-than-confident feeling. I like to sautee so I flip my pans a lot. Yes, even heavy cast iron pans. Not with this holder on the handle. The ribs simply limit contact with the pan far too much. It's back to the trusty old cloth for sauteeing... ANY grease on the handle and the holder becomes a lubricated sleeve that can actually spin around the handle.

The 15" pan's handle fits about the same in the holder as the 10" though it reaches closer to the holder's tip.

In summary, this holder is fine for simply grabbing the pan and rotating it on the burner or for holding the pan as you stir its contents or for two-handed lifts using the helper handle (and hey, where's the helper handle holders???). For sauteeing or one-handed lifts (or even two-handed lifts by the main handle only), the poor grip (even lubricated SLIDING) of this holder really limits its usefulness as a handle holder.

I've ordered the Lodge cloth-exteriored (but still internally silicone-lined) holders hoping for better grip. I understand that those handles can't be left on the pans. I'll use them as a replacement for a cloth. Hopefully there aren't any internal ribs on those holders or they'll get sent back prior to use.

Lodge really dropped the ball here, only offering one size. Frankly, I think they should include custom-fitted handles with every pan. They are cheap to make and wouldn't increase the cost of the pans much. They should also be made of much thicker silicone without ribs. This way, they can just stay on the pans and will fit and grip MUCH MUCH better and restrict heat at least as well.

I hope you're listening, Lodge... Send me a free set for review. ;)

While not absolutely perfect, this is the best solution for hot cast iron handles I have come across.

Pros:

1) Avoids the problem of forgetting the cast iron pan handle it hot and burning yourself. You can leave it on while using it on the stovetop.

2) This silicone holder has several advantages over a cloth handle holder or potholder:

.a) You can leave this on a gas burner when using the pan.NOT something you can do with a cloth because of fire concerns.

.b) The silicone material can get wet without losing its insulating qualities.

.c) If it gets oily it can easily be washed and reused much quicker than cloth. It can be put in a dishwasher.

Cons:

1) It fits kind of loose on a pan handle. This requires you to "be aware" of how to grip it right so the pan doesn't slip out of your grip. This is not difficult, just that the grip is not as solid as no holder at all.

2) While I haven't had any issues yet, the silicone could break down under extreme heat (more than 450 °F according to Lodge). This might only be an issue while using on a gas burner, as the heat can "lick up" and be more intense in the handle area than electric.I use gas, so I back the holder off a smidge from the edge while using on gas. This in turn makes the grip issue a little worse, but still usable. However, it is still better than no holder at all or cloth, as those have greater risks.

3) You can't leave it on when using a pan in the oven. The silicone gets too hot to touch. While you CAN slip it on the hot pan to take it out, you can also just use a regular glove or potholder. Not really a huge advantage for oven use.

Summary:

Considering the extreme requirements for a handle holder, this is a good product and I can think of no better solution for a gas burner.Definitely saves you from a burned hand!

The holder is much too large for the skillets. The skillet handles are all the same size on my three skillets (12", 10" and 8") and this holder does not fit. One would think they could make a holder that fits their own skillet handles. It is so loose that it is dangerous. I have another holder by another company I bought at a local kitchen store that fits better than the Lodge holder. I do not recommend this product.

I own both the lodge seasoned cast iron and the Lodge ceramic enameled cast iron. I was hesitant to buy this product because of all the reviews that said the handle holder was too big and sloppy. Put your mind at rest! If you are buying for the Seasoned Cast Iron the reviews are right. This product was not designed for those at least not from what i could tell. If you are looking for those use these "Lodge Max Temp Handle Mitt, Black". These Silicone hot handle holders work perfectly for the enamel covered cast iron pans from Lodge. I can attest to that. They are tight and hold snug and go all the to the base of the product. For its purpose i give these 5 stars (as you can see). Just remember these are for the LODGE ENAMELED PRODUCTS not the seasoned cast iron.

I also own 2 pieces of Le Creuset cookware that these fit perfectly on too!

The reviews are split on this but I am coming in on the "not so great" side.A silicone handle cover is safer than a quilted pad type is the only pro I can list.

I have lodge pans and as this is a lodge product I expected it to fit the skillet handle. It's way too loose and when the pan is hot the handle cover become my pliable and twists and slides around.Let me also state that skillet handle isn't oily and oil isn't a factor.

I won't be purchasing any more either for myself or for a gift.(Fortunately I purchased only one to try out and was hoping for a great gift idea.)

I bought the pans because our old ones had lost a lot of the teflon...not good. I was looking for red items to brighten up our kitchen so these fit the bill!

The pans have good strong, well connected handles and the bottoms are reinforced. The color is bright and nice.
