Cirulon Infinite 11-Inch Open Skillet

Cirulon Infinite 11-Inch Open SkilletWe decided on the Cirulon Infinite cookware after looking at a lot of other brands. The quality and versatility makes this affordable (a relative term, I know) line of cookware a great value. After 6 months of heavy use, we are more than pleased with the durability and performance.

* Very Thick Bottoms Allows for even heating of cooking surface

* Great Nonstick Surface Really nonstick, no issues at all DO NOT use nonstick sprays or "heavy oils" as these will ruin the nonstick properties (read the instructions)!

* Requires Less Oils We were able to cut way back on the amount of cooking oils we use

* Durable

* Oven Safe

* Dishwasher Safe

*Important* Follow the manufactures instructions and you will have great results.

Highly Recommended!

The pan arrived in two days. Packaging was more than adequate and prevented damage during shipping. When removing the packaging I was surprised to find a sticker stuck to the bottom of the pan directly on the cooking surface. It was one those stickers that are a nightmare to remove.

After soaking with soap and hot water with poor results, it finally took using Goo Gone three times to remove the sticker residue. Soak heavily in Goo Gone overnight then remove with a soft sponge and very hot water.

I called Meyer, spoke to Martha in customer service, and asked why Circulon would place a sticker smack dab in the middle of the cooking surface. I was told that Circulon would continue placing stickers on the bottom of their pans. Martha was prepared to offer a list of remedies to help remove the sticker, including the use of peanut butter. I would never think of using peanut butter.

So, after no more sticky residue, I get to use the pan. By now, I want to hate the pan and Meyer, but the pan works very well. After cooking eggs multiple times, they rarely stick bad enough for the yolk to break. Most items do stick a little but nothing serious. The pan is very easy to clean. It is one of the better non stick pans I have used. I am far more pleased with the non stick abilities of Circulon than Calphalon and I would happily purchase more of these pans if it were not for the sticker issue.

By the way, the sticker reads : The only nonstick cookware that is dishwasher safe (or close). They need to make a pan that is sticker safe.

One week now and cannot cook bacon/eggs without both sticking. I rarely have bacon stick unless I am cooking in cast iron. In the Circulon, the bacon will stick so bad it adheres to the bottom of the pan but will release after it is cooked more. I cannot cook an egg without it tearing apart. Still cleans up easy, but not as easy as a week ago. Stuff seems to deposit in the circles.

Spoke with Uniqua(sp) at Meyer about the pan. She feels the sticker residue and my attempts to remove it are why the pan is sticking so bad. Its been a week. If Meyer feels only certain means should be employed to remove the sticker then they should include this info in the packaging instructions or perhaps an additional sticker on the pan. 'Remove Me With Peanut Butter' She suggests that I return the pan since it is still under warranty. I was told there is no way to purchase another pan without a sticker. Corporate wants the sticker on the pan. I will return to Amazon instead of Meyer. I do not want another Circulon pan because I do not want to deal with the same problem again.

Any non necessary item included in final production that can lead to customer dissatisfaction and potential returns is a poor business decision and certainly not cost effective. Either move the sticker to a non cooking surface or eliminate it.

I love the Infinite Circulon line of cookware.I own the big set.I wanted something that would hold more than the 10 inch saute pan that came with the big set, so I order the 11 inch skillet. It is actually SMALLER on the bottom than the 10 inch saute pan.I think its going to hold less total volume and be easier to spill from.If you have the big set you don't need this skillet unless you really want the sloped sides instead of the straight up and down sides of the 10 inch saute pan.So my real frustration isn't so much with this skillet, which is an excellent skillet, but in the inability to tell what size a skillet really is. Returning the thing as heavy as it is will cost me too much to bother with.(Note:I ordered it from Cooking.com where they went so far as to call it 11.75 in., even though Circulon calls it 11 in.)

This skillet has every convenience and works beautifully. The best part is that it's fully dishwasher safe. I don't have many skillets that I can just pop into the dishwasher.

I feel I should comment about the handle. If you're accustomed to a skillet with steeper sides or non-metal handles, be aware that on higher flame the handle *does* get hot, just like pro cookware. If you handle your skillets while cooking, I suggest using a handle cover or towel to avoid burns.

Edit to re-review this pan after nearly 3 years: I have used this pan several times per week for nearly 3 years and it has held up beautifully with absolutely NO non-stick surface loss, wear, or scratching whatsoever. I wash this pan in the dishwasher and use it just as I would a normal non-stick pan, using only safe utensils, etc. Very, very high quality!

Ecolution Kitchen Extras Mini Cookware, 6-Piece Setthey are perfect for a dorm room or single person. My grand daughter uses them daily. High quality and cute, definitely mini sized.

These are cute. I live alone and it is a waste at times to use a big pan. These are perfect for making me a meal and are easy to clean. I saw these same pan's at a grocery store after I ordered here and they did not have the spatula's. I am very happy with these pans. The color's are beautiful and the cooking surface is non-stick.

I have to say that this product is of EXTREMELY high quality, and I am surprised how well they work. Something that has to be taken into extreme consideration, however are their size. Though they are high quality they are also not meant for any type of extreme cooking. They work for very basic meals, and are perfect for the beginner chef or the college student. To give you an idea of how small they are, none of the bases for any of the pans are larger than my hands. THAT small. Nevertheless storage is a breeze and the 3 different pieces give great opportunity to get creative when designing meals. You most definitely cannot serve more than one person with these, but their small size also means that everything cooks quicker under higher heat (can be a disadvantage). It also means that any worth while cooking must be cut up into miniature sizes, which can be fun as well.

If you are a beginner college chef, go for it!

I bought these for my grand daughter who is 5yrs old, lol I know but the toy pots and pans for kitchen are made so cheaply. These are very nice and well built. Singles would love these just the right size.

I really like these pans. They are the right size for small single size cooking. I only gave it a 4 because I have a hard time getting them to stay up right on my gas stove. The handles are heavy and upset the pan. I have to put them have above the flame and half off to get them to stay up right.

Excelsteel 3-Piece Professional Carbon Steel Frypan Set with Ceramic Non-Stick Coating

Excelsteel 3-Piece Professional Carbon Steel Frypan Set with Ceramic Non-Stick CoatingThe pans looked fine and the surface feels nice and smooth, but you can not cook anything in these non-stick without sticking. I ended up using more oil to keep from sticking which defeated the purpose of using non-stick. The handles are cheap made from stamped steel. The first time I used the thin metal the inside bottom burnt.I would not buy.

Got this set of pans today. Started to cook and then saw a crack on the handle and they look cheap in general. Although saved some money but probably will have to return it and buy a better and more expensive set.

These steel pans have a ceramic coating that behaves as good as Teflon without the toxic drawbacks of that notorious plastic.

I have had them for a few weeks now and, so far, I can not tell the difference.

I also like the idea that they are made of steel and not aluminum. The weight is light and they are easy to clean.

I was disappointed in this purchase. The biggest problem is that the bottoms are not completely flat, making them a poor choice for a glass-top range. The quality of the "no stick" isn't very good. The very first thing my husband made was a cheese sandwich. The cheese melted, burned, and stuck. It took a lot of elbow grease to clean it, and a stain remained for quite a while.

KitchenAid Aluminum Nonstick 8-Inch Skillet, Red

KitchenAid Aluminum Nonstick 8-Inch Skillet, RedThis is my second KitchenAid nonstick pan. It really is nonstick. I think pans like this have a lifespan since cleaning them eventually diminishes the nonstick-ed-ness -as was the case with KitchenAid pan #1. However, for the small investment, this pan really lets you slip out the food with ease and allows you to cook with no fat -or just a whisper of PAM.

This is a well-designed product. It looks very nice on the range, heats quickly and evenly, and cleans up very easily. The handle is comfortable as well.It is a pleasure to use.

This pan has been going strong for well over a year of daily use. I cook oil-free, no problems. My other new 8" ceramic coated pan does not work without oil, and eggs stick so sits in the cabinet unused so guess need to give away or return one day.

This KitchenAid pan is used to daily to make my egg white omelette and my daughter's pancakes. We never use above 6 on the electric coil stove, 10 being the highest, since no reason ever to go that high. We use with AMCO nylon cooking utensils with stainless handles, which we like better than OXO because handles thinner, take up less storage space in our drawers and utensil bucket.

No one has gotten sick here, like one reviewer mentioned, but always good to throw out first batches of anything cooked in new pan. I always do that. Soap and water not enough. Some people boil water in their new pans after cleaning as well before first use.

Think we bought this in a set from Target, not Amazon, though. Anything we can not find locally, we head straight to Amazon.

Just received the KitchenAid Aluminum Nonstick 8-Inch Skillet in gorgeous Red, washed it, put in a copious quantity of high grade olive oil, put it on a small burner at medium (4) temperature and when the oil got hot, I slipped in two large eggs and in a very short time I had the most beautiful pair of the best looking and tasting eggs I have ever eaten. The whites were done all the way through and the yolks cooked just right. The pan did most of it, helped out by the burner and olive oil.The heat was so even that I didn't have to touch the eggs except to slide them out of the pan onto a plate.I have been using the bargain basement pans that warp out of shape after a few usages, but never again.KitchenAid will get all my business from this day on.It is of heavy, high quality aluminum and has a great heft to it...TRY IT, YOU'LL BUY IT!

This item says it is induction compatible, but not really. Our high-end Bosch induction cook top has worked with EVERY SINGLE PAN we have used on it (that is induction friendly) EXCEPT this one.Even the $10 Walmart generic pans work better. This pan only works on a single "burner", the smallest of those on the stove which is also closest to the wall. That means the over-sized pan has two major problems for us:

1) The pan cannot be easily manipulated because it is too close to the back wall.

2) The pan does not get nearly hot enough.Even on 8-of-10 (which is normally VERY HOT for most pans) this thing barely gets warm other than dead-center in the bottom of the pan, a 6" diameter area. The sidesof the pan, which is the whole reason to get a pan of this style, stay cool enough that nothing cooks if it is not touching the middle center of the pan.

Maybe this pan works on other induction tops but definitely not ours.Sadly I cannot find the cardboard logo wrapper that was around the pan, so we dropped $40 on something that is useless to us.Maybe I can send it to my mother's place and it will work better on a standard electric range.

Sadly disappointed. It looks great, but I don't but pans to look at them... in fact they hide in the cabinets under the cook top, so this really serves zero purpose for us.

This Pro Cast line from Nordic Ware is NICE!That's why I'm so disappointed that I can't use it.The bottom is not flat, but has round, raised, rough spots all over. Not smooth cooktop compatible.

I looked long and hard for a made in the USA skillet just because I believe our quality standards well exceed many of the countries that make most of the famous Chef skillets and well-known brands and I finally found Nordic Ware.I also didn't want to spend a lot of money on non-stick pans when they really have a limited life-span with all the wear-and-tear of normal cooking. This pan fit both criteria.Don't need any oil or butter really, except for flavoring because the food didn't stick to the pan.I've browned meat in the skillet and am pleased with the overall results. What I really like is the heat is well distributed throughout the entire pan and I don't have to adjust meat pieces in order to evenly brown them.Easy to clean as well.

We have tried many highend frying pans, but none of the others compare to this pan.It was much lighter than I expected, but it cooks perfectly.

Even more surprizing, nothing sticks to it.We had burned fish in it one day.The house cleaners came, looked at it and hid it in the stove rather than try to clean it.I put it in water for 5 minutes, and everything wiped right out.

I'm usually impressed by Nordicware products, but not this one.I never actually got around to using the skillet because the handle was snapped off near the base. There was no damage to the Amazon box. There was no damage to the Nordic Ware box inside. The Amazon box had adequate filler to prevent excessive shifting. There is no explanation for this other than that the handle is made of cheap material.

One of the other reviewers mentioned that the skillet looks like it will scratch smooth-top ranges.I'd have to agree with this, although I didn't have the chance to test it out.I didn't realize from the single photo image for this item that the bottom surface has dozens of small, raised circular buttons (there are probably better words to describe them, but none come to mind) that are about 1/2 inch in diameter. Each of these raised buttons has a sharp edge, so I'm sure that's what the other reviewer was concerned about.I thought is was just a rough surface, so I took the chance that it would be something that I could smooth down with some extra fine steel wool.

The last comment I'll make is that the skillet surface has a bit of a bronze tone to it, not the brushed aluminum or steel look I expected from the photo. That's not necessarily bad, but it's not what I'd prefer.

Two stars for this one, Nordic Ware.

Sanyo HPS-MC3 3-in-1 Nonstick Electric Multi-Cooker

Sanyo HPS-MC3 3-in-1 Nonstick Electric Multi-CookerI am cheap (Asian), and was not keen on plopping down $100 on this cooker. Totally worth it. I got it after I saw some little old ladies at 99 Ranch buying one!

Cooks hot pot like a CHAMP. I was using a single burner with a divided hot pot pot (lol) on top and I had to boil a separate pot the stove to keep up with demand (feeding 4 adults). No more! This thing is sooo convenient. Super easy to adjust the temperature and it heats up quickly.

Nice safety feature that it has a magnetic power cord, in case someone trips over it or you have kids. It stays on just fine.

Also works great as a steamer.

The finish is conducive to easy cleanup.

The grill part...well, I mean...it's essentially a one-sided George Foreman grill. Nothing too special there--but it is very easy to clean.

Buy it! You know if the old Chinese ladies at 99 Ranch were buying, it HAS to be good.

**Update**

Owned it now for almost a year. Still going strong, still highly recommended. It even saved me through a stove issue (2 weeks for the new part to arrive). There are a lot of things you can make with this cooker, I have to say.

I just moved into a tiny place with no kitchen to speak of and this product is perfect for me.With interchangeable grill plate and cooking pot, the one base takes up less overall space in my cabinet.I've used it for eggs, pancakes, stir-fry, steaming vegetables, macaroni and cheese, grilled steak and chicken.I'll make some mean chili this fall I'm sure. The whole thing is nonstick and cleans up easily with a paper towel.I recommend this for a dorm room or as an efficient alternative to a full size cooktop.I first discovered SANYO a few years ago when I bought my first toaster oven.I debated buying an indoor grill but went all out for this "multi-cooker".

I bought this for my wife so we could do Nabe / Hot Pot/ Shabu Shabu / etc. It's significantly more expensive than buying a pot and a gas burner (which you can get at an Asian grocery for ~$40), but it is very high quality.

We've done Japanese Nabe and Sichuan Hot Pot in this pot and they were both great. The pot cooks very evenly and is more than enough for 4 people (I would think it could serve up to 8, definitely could do 6). The whole apparatus feels very solid like it was built to last.

Included also is a metal rack that that can be used to steam food (we used it for shumai and gyoza / jiaozi / potstickers.) We had been using our rice cooker for this, but the HPS-MC3 is a lot larger allowing you to steam a whole meal's worth and the design is such that it's easy to put it on your table and eat your food fresh from the steam.

The HPS-MC3 also includes a grilling plate which we might use some day but we haven't used it for that purpose.

I would highly recommend the HPS-MC3 for your home hotpot needs. Also, you can find it for less than $100 on other websites, but just make sure to do your math because shipping is free over $25 on Amazon but other websites have different policies.

I was hoping this would live up to all the reviews I read, and it does! I made beef sukiyaki and ginger pork all under 2 hours, it is the best hot pot and I really love it, great for making Japanese dishes, and I was really surprised how easy it was to clean up afterwards, just so people get this beforehand, Wash out each peice very throughly(not the base peice obviously), just run each through the dishwasher to get rid of the coating, don't try burning it off because it has that new nonstick smell lol But all in all this was the easiest easiest!!

UPDATE 7-2012

I had this for a year and then the pan warped and the oil always spread the wrong way, it didn't heat right and I donated it and bought a zojirushi instead, it was great for about 5 mos and then I just put up with it until I could get something better.

This multi-cooker is perfect for small kitchens that have limited storage.I can grill, steam, stew, makes great home fries.I wouldn't be surprised if I could bake things like cornbread. With the flat bottom it makes nice looking omelets. Enough said, it's well worth the $85.00 (with free shipping).I try to buy locally, but the neighborhood store didn't want to go lower than their $110.00. Sorry, I need to watch my dollars as much as possible these days.Thank you Amazon.

Old Mountain Pre Seasoned 10132 Fajita Plate Set with Wood Tray and Hot Mit, 15 1/4 Inch x 7 1/4 In

Old Mountain Pre Seasoned 10132 Fajita Plate Set with Wood Tray and Hot Mit, 15 1/4 Inch x 7 1/4 InchI ordered four skillets mainly for use in making sizzling steaks hot off the grill.Skillets are of great quality, but the wood bases are not.One of the bases was split in two during shipping (we fixed it with wood glue). It isn't surprising since the non-broken bases we received could have easily been cracked in half by hand.

Kitchen, Fajita Plate Serving Set / B001AT5CGM

We actually bought these fajita plate sets in order to serve hot apple pie "restaurant style" hot and sizzling on the skillet, with bubbling butter and rapidly melting ice cream...yum!

These plates aren't particularly large if you wanted to serve a large fajita fixings spread, I'm not certain that you wouldn't want to use two, but then I'm used to the huge restaurant portions and these are probably adequate for home cooking. The cast iron is very solid and sturdy and conducts heat well; and I can testify that they hold up to the occasional dishwasher washing because I tend to toss everything in the dishwasher even when I'm not supposed to.

The wooden bases are, however, really...cheap. Like another reviewer, one of my two wooden bases cracked cleanly in two during shipping and I had to order a replacement from Amazon (a painless process, but it would have been annoying if we'd needed the plates right away for an immediate dinner party or something). So far, the wooden bases haven't cracked from home use, but we've been very careful because the wood just doesn't seem like a high quality. The bases are thick enough it's just that one can't help but feel that my boyfriend could crack them in half without much exertion. Along the same vein, the hot mitts that come with this are a nice touch but they don't stay attractive for very long I think the seams will unravel soon on one of them and we haven't even used them that much.

So, all in all, I recommend these plates for occasional use but if you're planning on daily or even weekly regular use, you might want to opt up for something nicer, because you are definitely getting what you pay here for with this skillet. Not that there's anything wrong with that.

I have been adding to my cast iron serving collection and I wanted a set (6 or more) of fajita plates.I was a little suspicious of this one due to it's low price.I read about it's rather flimsy tray so I just purchased one set in order to check it out. Here is my opinion:

I think that most of the cast iron fajita plates are just about the same, they may even be made by the same manufacturer. This plate did not disappoint.I first tried it with fajitas and it worked as expected.I cooked all of the meat (marinated skirt steak), onions and bell peppers in my large sauté pan and then transferred it to this plate. The reason that these plates are traditionally used is that cast iron retains heat and your fajita stuffings stay hot throughout the meal.I have a clay holder for my tortillas so each fajita is warm and tasty.

I really expect to use these more for meat entrées rather than fajitas. When I host a dinner party I have noticed that my guests usually eat much slower than usual, mostly because they are engaging in conversation and just enjoying themselves. However, as the cook it drives me a little nuts.I want people to eat what I spent a lot of time and effort to make while it is hot. Now!Of course I can't tell them to shut up and eat so I plan on using a cast iron serving plate that will keep everything nice and warm for the whole meal.

I cooked a rather nice 8 oz. filet mignon (covered in Bearnaise sauce) for myself along with a sautéed mushroom melody, grilled asparagus, and a twice baked potato (I know, a typical "guy" dish.)I placed the potato in a small, oval cast iron serving dish and the steak, asparagus, and mushrooms on the fajita plate (they were just a little bit crowded.)The sizzle of the grilled filet hitting that heated plate was wonderful and impressive.I cooked the steak just a little rarer than usual in order to let the plate continue to cook it.I poured the sauce on the steak and then walked away from it for 15 minutes (this was SO hard to do.)When I came back to it the food was still hot and desirable. The Bearnaise sauce that hit the plate was a little burned but the asparagus, mushrooms, and steak were perfect.

The hot mitt was fine for moving the plate around once it is on the table, but I wouldn't recommend it for bringing the plate off of the stove to the table, it's just not padded enough. I will be using plates like these for fajitas and steaks as well as certain fish and poultry dishes.Although my set arrived with an unbroken tray, I can see that it will not hold up to much use.I could easily snap it in half with my bare hands if I wanted to.I plan on buying a full set of them, but I will spend more money and get a plate with a better wood tray.

Starfrit Eco Pan 5.5 Inch Mini Egg Pan, Black

Starfrit Eco Pan 5.5 Inch Mini Egg Pan, BlackThis small egg pan seemed just what I needed to replace my 5 inch cast iron pan for gently cooking an egg.

I am slightly disappointed with the "non-stick" aspects of this glass lined pan.It is NOT as effective as Teflon (which I will no longer ever use).Even when I add a small amount of oil, the egg still sticks in certain places.

I also purchased a 10.5 inch fry pan of the same product line (Starfrit Eco Pan). The 10.5 inch pan has a glass coating that has a slightly different appearance. When I use it, it is the best NON-stick fry pan I have ever used.It is still "new" so I can not attest to how it will hold up, but at this point I am delighted with it.

Neither pan has a logo.I do not know if Starfrit is not proud of their products or if there is some other reason for omitting the identy.

I highly endorse the larger pan, but I would NOT buy anothr of the 5.5 inch pans (or one with same coating version).

Nice small pan works as advertised.Non-stick is good. For the price I paid, I am impressed.Perfect size for a one egg omelet. The pan has an odd, thin riveted handle, which is not obvious from the photo. For this, I have given one less star.I prefer the Berndes design, but they don't make a pan this small, and the cost is significantly more. You can find a lid that fits.It is the Ballarini Tempered Glass 14 cm lid.Amazon has this for sale too.TypeB000PQP83I in the search line. You will be happy.

Was looking for a small ceramic non-stick pan for pancakes and eggs not so many to choose from, only found this one. It states the size is 5.5", but they probably measured on the top, not on the bottom: it goes much smaller on the bottom, where the working surface is, and I got somewhat dissapointed with that.

Also, don't use an oil spray it burns on this pan, although I did use the same oil spray on my old teflon little pan and it never burnt.

After a couple of uses I sort of managed to adjust: replaced the oil spray with regular oil, and I cannot make pancakes on big fire, it burns but on medium fire and with regular oil it's OK. Cleans pretty well.

Buying the second one to save time in the mornings (I have 2 kids, and it's a real time saver to make pancakes or eggs on 2 pans in the mornings). HOWEVER... I don't recommend this pan to those who don't have patience to adjust things etc, it will really get you frustrated. I am quite patient, so it did work for me.

I have Ozeri 10" ceramic frying pan I am very much happy with it, I just wish they had small ones, but they only keep 8", 10" and 12" :(

UPDATE, a year later. Those 2 pans only served about half a year at the end they were burnt on the sides, although I consider myself a very careful user and most of my kitchen appliance serves me for a long time. I ended up replacing them with 8" Ozeri pans they are not as big as I thought they are, and besides they started to sell glass lids for them, so it works pretty well. Having them for about 5-6 months as of 8/21/12, and very pleased. Still look brand-new, although I use them 2-4 times a week.

I'm not sure what the reviewer that commented on the surface being different than the larger pans was referring to. Looks and acts exactly the same.It works perfect for my 2 egg omelets. It's not the same heavy construction as the larger pans but for the small size it doesn't have to be. The surface is all I could ask for. Use a light coat of oil as instructed and wash with soapy water and the surface looks like new. I'm delighted with all the Starfrit pans.

I ordered this small frying pan specifically beacuse it is listed for induction ranges/cooktops.As stated in "Product Features": "Integrated induction base is for use on all stovetops including induction".Well, not so, it is not designed for induction cooking and does not work on my induction cooktop. $17,58 thrown away due to misinformation. Stay away if you need a pan that can be used on induction plates/cooktops.

Update:Product features updated since my initial review and no longer list this pan for use with induction cooktops.Kudos to Amazon for quick update. One star was for misinformation only, not for the quality of the product that I cannot evaluate

LODGE L8SQ3 SQUARE SKILLET 10-1/21"

LODGE L8SQ3 SQUARE SKILLET 10-1/21'I have a huge collection of Lodge cookware and this is the pan I use most.It is a great, convenient size and works superbly.I highly recommend any of Lodge's products.

I received this pan as a gift about 2 years ago.I wasn't familiar with the seasoning process or how to care for cast-iron, so it wasn't effective and it sat in the bottom of the pan drawer.About a year ago, I learned about the seasoning process and how to care for cast iron, so I figured I'd give it another go.

This has now become the go-to pan for me, and I use it to cook everything. My Calphalon stainless set sits idle most days now.

It's a little frustrating at first (like any cast-iron), but once you have a good season, you can cook pretty much anything and clean-up takes literally one minute with hot water and a plastic scotch-brite pad.

My only complaint about the square pan is not having a cover that fits, but I think it makes up for it by having almost 30% more cooking area than a circle pan of the same dimensions.

This is a good, heavy pan that is very adaptable for many types of cooking.I love the shape because I can make breads with sautéed ingredients in one pan and because of the square shape, it is easily served. It is also great for steak that is started on the stovetop and finished in the oven.I appreciated not having to season the pan before the first use.

Staub 12" American Square Grill Pan

Staub 12' American Square Grill Pan, BlackI purchased the 10" Lodge Logic Grill Pan and the 10" Staub Grill Pan at the same time. The Staub pan is approximately three times the cost of the lodge logic pan. I find the Staub pan to be suburb in both look and feel, but both pans are entirely functional. Surprisingly, I found the lodge pan to have a smoother coating of outer enamel I was less worried about scratching my glass top stove when using it. The lodge pan is about 1/2" shorter than the Staub pan which may result in additional splatter. The cooking surfaces of both pans are the same size, however the surface of the lodge pan feels more porous than that of the Staub pan.

I found cleaning to be very simple for both pans. If you are having difficulty I suggest soaking the griddle surface in hot water and detergent for an hour. This gives a chance for the detergent to break down and release fats. If you want to prevent burning try cooking with temperatures no more than medium high this is stated in the included manual. Be sure to give your pan a good coat of olive oil when cooking I use the pressurized spray olive oil as it is far easier to get an even coat.

Staub Grill Pan Review Summary:

Pros (Compared to Lodge Logic): Height (Approx 1/2" Taller than Staub Grill Pan), Quality of Cooking Surface Enamel, No Pour Spout, General Appearance

Cons (Compared to Lodge Logic): High Cost, Smoothness of Outer Enamel

Overall Stars Staub 10" Grill Pan: 5/5

Overall Stars Lodge Logic: 4/5

If both pans had been the same height I would have given both a rating of 5. The rest of the cons are outweighed by the difference in cost between the pans. At it's price point, the lodge pan is still a very good deal. If you have a modest budget by all means purchase the lodge pan. It works. If you are concerned about splatter and visual appeal and have the budget buy the Staub.

I have used both griddles twice now and am posting pictures and as you will see both appear brand new though they have been used.

This pan is da shazzizo.Really.

HEAVY cast iron, with a glossy enamel exterior and a rough black enamel interior. It really doesn't need seasoning, as the enamel doesn't rust or stick.Preheat it until smoking hot, add a seasoned steak, leave on for a minute or two, rotate 90 degrees to get those great crosshatched grill marks, flip and repeat, then put into a preheated 450 oven for 4+ minutes, depending on how thick the steak is and how rare you want it.

Seriously foolproof steakhouse good steak, every time, as long as you don't over cook.

The same technique works really well for fish as well.Whatever you cook the sear and blast method works great, and it's easy to make pan sauce.

Although I give this five stars, be warned that it's not easy to clean.Forget trying to get it back to factory condition, ain't gonna happen. However, because the cast iron isn't exposed, but instead your dealing with black matte enamel, you can use dish soap and a scrubbie to get the worst, then leave it on medium heat to dry.

I use this pan constantly, particularly in the winter when it's not so much fun to grill, I'm giving my Alaskan brother one for his birthday. However, even in the summer months it still sees a lot of use.

This and my 9 qt. dutch oven get the heaviest use, and the biggest bang for my cookware buck.

Buy Staub 12" American Square Grill Pan Now

The day I got it from Sur La Table I went and bought two New York Strips to break it in.They were text-book picture perfect with an external sear with blood red rare interiors.Incredible for seared steaks or burgers.Preheat on high heat for at least five minutes before cooking.Get it smoking hot before you put the meat on the grill.Juices from deglazing or rendered fat can easily be poured off with the two pour spouts to make sauces or reductions. And it is oven and broiler safe. You will not be sorry!

Smoke concentrates in the grooves between the ridges, which enhances the taste of seared steaks. You can make the grill marks as light-brown or black as you want. This sure beats trying to grill outdoors in the middle of winter, and the results are delish.

If you don't have a strong hood fan, you may have to open some windows and close bedroom doors, this thing can get generate as much smoke as grilling on the barbie.

For water-softening of burnt residue, pouring water into a searing hot enameled pan might crack the enamel due to differential contractions of rapidly cooled enamel and iron.A safer technique is to let the pan cool for a good 20 minutes, then pour in water and reheat the stove, letting the water low-boil for awhile, e.g. 30 minutes. You can use dishsoap or not.I just pour the soapless water out and wipe with a some paper towels.I don't worry about getting it spic and span, a little gray-browning of the last towel is okay with me, I treat this like my seasoned cast iron skillets and woks.

This worked well for its purpose but after only 6 or so uses it cracked, while heating, close to the angle of the metal spout.Since others have reported similar cracks, the sharp angle of the spout is presumably a design flaw.

Cuisinart MultiClad Pro Stainless-Steel Saucepan with Cover

Cuisinart MCP19-16 MultiClad Pro Stainless-Steel 1-1/2-Quart Saucepan with CoverI'm a self-confessed cookware junkie and professionally-trained home chef.I have at least 60 or so different pots and pans, and actually use most of them regularly.I've been biased toward Calphalon Anodized (not non-stick) for nearly 20 years, and still love the line.I got into Calphalon Tri-Ply, which is superb, but thought I'd try this pan to see if the value was there.

IMHO, Calphalon Tri-Ply, Cuisinart Multiclad, and KitchenAid Clad all have far surpassed All-Clad for various reasons.Basically, All-Clad hasn't changed its design in ages, and has missed out on a number of very real improvements.

To Wit: the rolled lip that eliminates pouring drips and runs of liquid down the outside of the pan.A simple improvement, but a huge one for simplifying clean-up later, and for whatever surface you rest the pan on.So far, I think Calphalon has the best lids -glass, deep draw, and very nicely fitting. This Cuisinart pan's top fits acceptably well, but it's probably the weak link.As for strengths, this pan weighs in as heavy or heavier than either the All-Clad or Calphalon offerings of similar size, so that's a big win for heat dispersion and uniformity (All-Clad has become really thin over the years!).Unlike the KitchenAid, the exterior is matte finished except for the top 1/2 inch or so.This helps to ensure that the pan will look good despite real-world use.The shape is nice -not too tall and narrow, so it works well on a small burner.

Finally there is the handle. This doesn't have the cool-V design of the Calphalon, but it stays pretty cool anyway.I have a major problem with All-Clad handles, which are extremely uncomfortable for me, the way I lift pans (I have very strong arms and wrists, so I usually lift pans overhand, unlike many who go underhand to get the extra muscle leverage).Lifting overhand, the All-Clad handles dig into my palm in a very uncomfortable way. These Cuisinart (and Calphalon and KitchenAid) handles do not.

4.5 stars overall; 1/2 star docked for the lid being less than perfect (but still as good as all the competition except Calphalon).

UPDATE: Feb 18, 2009: I've compared the Cuisinart Multiclad Pro and All-Clad Stainless pans side by side, and if anything, the Cuisinarts are heavier duty, certainly not meaningfully lighter! The All-Clad LTD pans (some of them) do appear to be thicker/heavier than their stainless counterparts, but then we're comparing apples and oranges, and in any event it's pretty much gilding the lily to go much thicker than they are already. The pouring lip on the Cuisinarts is a huge in-use advantage as well (far less messy). On the whole, the Multiclad Pro line is an incredible bargain. Search my reviews for other comments about these vis-a-vis Calphalon etc.

This pan looks great and performs great. It's less heavy duty than All-Clad, but unless the kitchen is in the middle of a stone quarry it is plenty, plenty heavy duty enough. And it looks great, too.In addition to the price advantage, another lead over All-Clad is the turned lip.One disadvantage, though, is the handle. It's not a light pot, and when it is full it is simply heavy. The handle is not broad/thick/shaped enough, and there is no helper handle on the opposite side.It works, certainly, but the 2006 version could be improved.

Buy Cuisinart MultiClad Pro Stainless-Steel Saucepan with Cover Now

I thought I would love this pan. And I do love the multi-clad. And the handle's fine, along with the rivets.

The problem is the lid.

For some reason, the Pro and stainless Chef's lines use a lid that just sits on top of the pot rather than utilize the lid they provide for the non-stick Chef's line, one that has an underrim on it and is seated within the pan (like the Calphalon lids; and, like the Calphalon lids, the non-stick Chef's line lids are glass). The end result is that if and when the contents begin to boil, the steam begins to boil over, even if the contents themselves do not (and if it's anywhere near full, the contents boil over as well; either way, you have a mess). Therefore, unless you watch it like a hawk, or leave the lid off, the 1 1/2qt pan becomes, practically, a 1qt pan, and you may as well get the 2qt if you want 1 1/2qts capacity. Or go with the non-stick Chef's line. Or Calphalon (which, unfortunately, is nearly three times the price).

I bought this pan because of the similarities to the Calphalon Tri-Ply and the All Clad Stainless I own, but at a lower price. When it arrived today, I was delighted! Every bit as high quality as the much more expensive pans I own.

The interior and the exterior around the lip is mirror polished so very easy to clean. The bottom half and the base of the pan is slightly brushed so that it doesn't show scratches or fingerprints. It features a slightly curved out lip for dripless pouring that is identical to Calphalon. The handle is well balanced and doesn't get hot when cooking on the stove. The lid is a heavy gauge stainless and fits snugly.

It features the aluminum core that is sandwiched between 2 layers of stainless steel. Note that this is NOT the less expensive disc base you find on lesser products. It is smooth and seamless and provides superior heat conduction and retention. You will definitely need to use much lower heat if you've been using cheaper pans.

These do not have a non-stick coating but they clean up beautifully. If you ever burn something, use a little Bar Keepers Friend and your pan will look like new. It will also go into the dishwasher no problem.

I can definitely recommend this line so from now on, I will check All Clad, Calphalon Tri-Ply, and Cuisinart Multiclad Pro and then choose whatever's on sale because as far as I'm concerned, they are equally high quality.

This cookware overall is an excellent choice for the price. It heats uniformally cleans up well and looks great, I have them hanging on a pot rack in the kitchen. The handles do well on heat they don't get to hot unless they have been on the burner for an extended period of time but I've used more expensive pots that heat up much faster. If I have a complaint it's that they haven't expanded the line at all.I'd like to see more choices in the multiclad like like they have in their other sets.

Presto 07046 Tilt 'n Drain Big Griddle Cool-Touch Electric Griddle

Presto 07046 Tilt 'n Drain Big Griddle Cool-Touch Electric GriddleI love making pancakes. In the past I would use two large cast-iron skillets for the task. I found myself constantly adjusting my burner temperature and I would always get a few very dark (or burnt) or a few undercooked pancakes out of each batch. Plus I could only cook two pancakes at a time; one in the center of each skillet (I like making large, perfectly round, 5-6" diameter pancakes.)

After much research, I finally broke down and bought the Presto Tilt'nDrain BigGriddle because I liked the enormous cooking area it offered. And I liked the fact that is was made of heavy cast aluminum and that it sat perfectly level (some griddles have sloped cooking decks to allow grease and juices to run away from the foods... NOT desirable when making pancakes or scrambled eggs.) And I liked how the griddle can be quickly adjusted so that it WILL tilt forward which *does* allow grease to run away when you want it to! (it has a grease channel and catch-tray along the front edge of the unit.)

My first impressions with this unit:

It's huge! 18.5" x 15" cooking area.

It heats evenly. My infrared (IR) non-contact thermometer gun showed very little temperature variation across the cooking surface once it was fully heated (I let the thermostat cycle several times -about 10 minutes -before I took my readings.) My pancakes verified this finding with each one being equally browned.

The thermostat is accurate. I set the unit to 350-degrees F., and it heated to 350-degrees F. as verified by my IR thermometer gun.

The raised lip around the sides and back of the unit is high enough to contain pancake batter and keep it from spilling over and is low enough to be completely unobtrusive.

After un-boxing the unit, I cleaned, plugged, and turned on the unit (set for 350-degrees F.) After a 10 minute warm up, I applied my pancake batter. As noted earlier, in the past I was only able to make two pancakes at a time using two separate skillets. The Presto griddle allowed me to cook 6 (yes, SIX!!) of my large pancakes at the same time. All six pancakes browned evenly with no hot or cold spots seen. Flipping the pancakes was a breeze and I used no oil on the non-stick surface.

I made two batches of pancakes, one batch after the other, and both turned out exactly the same... and that was "perfectly." I made a two batches of pancakes (12 pancakes total) in the same amount of time it took to make 4 in the past. For the first time my whole family ate pancakes together at the same time!!

So, in summary, the Presto Tilt'nDrain BigGriddle is well designed, easy to use, heats accurately and evenly, and has a very large cooking surface. Clean-up was quick and easy. I highly recommend this unit to anyone who needs a large griddle that cooks accurately and evenly.

NOTE: Regarding a few other reviews here, I don't see how anyone can rate this product 2 or 3 stars, faulting the unit because it's too large to store. I mean, come on!! It's a big griddle by DESIGN!! If it's too large for you, then you should have bought a smaller griddle! ;-)

I bought this griddle over a year ago.I love it.I can cook an entire pack of bacon all at one time, six large pancakes, or four plate size pancakes, 12 pieces of french toast, you get the picture. As far as I know, the largest griddle available.I use frequently, have had no problems of any kind, including the non-stick surface which shows no sign of wear. This is a big improvement over griddles and other non-stick cookware I've owned before.Yes, it does have hot and cold spots, IF you don't let it pre-heat adequately. It's big, give it 10-15 minutes to pre-heat.Yes, you have to get creative to find a suitable storage space.I fortunately have a perfect cabinet (tall, deep and narrow) in my kitchen, although if I didn't I'd probably have to use the broom closet, coat closet, or some other unusual space. It is also a handful when washing at the sink, since it's too big to fit in the sink. However, it's hard to knock it for being too big when that's the whole idea.If you want something easier to store and wash, you'll be cooking longer and in batches. If you have a houseful of kids, you'll love this griddle.Put it under your bed if you have to.

I purchased this griddle because the electric frypan we had was simply too small. While trying to flip a few pancakes in it, half of it didn't stay in!!The first thing I cooked with this griddle was therefore pancakes.Instead of the 4 batches it used to take, I did it in 1.Flipping the pancakes was mess-free and effortless with the nonstick surface.I have since tried eggs and also bacon.I love the tilt function with the grease trap.It definitely helps keep splattering down. The one thing you will need is space to use it as well as store it.I set it on our stovetop while in use, which works for me.

Highly Recommend this product.

Bought the griddle for a big camping trip and it worked awesome. Plenty of cooking space (200 square inch surface). I was able to feed 12 people at once! If you are looking for a large cooking surface with easy clean up this is the griddle.

Want Presto 07046 Tilt 'n Drain Big Griddle Cool-Touch Electric Griddle Discount?

The griddle has exceeded my expectations. I put it to hard use, for catered events at places without a kitchen (I know it's for "home use") and it is flawless, or nearly so. It does have that cheesy home construction, and the pull-out sides for fat draining purposes are not lock-able, but I expected those little flaws--as a light-weight large griddle, it is super. No hot spot/cold spot issues, plenty of space, i can actually do 2 things at once on it for hors d'oeuvres presentation. It saved me during the holidays. It's inexpensive enough that if I wear it out, i can get another one. Does double-duty at home, too for pancakes for the family crowd. I can make twice as many as on the stove top griddle I have. It's easy to clean, easy to use--a well thought-out product. I'd purchase it again without a second thought. There is no commercial-use product that can beat it that I've found, either.

I am not usually a nonstick pan person.I needed one for certain dishes so I went to my favorite resource, Cooks Illustrated. They recommended T-Fal Professional Total Nonstick Fry Pan but it was back-ordered so I went with this version.I've had it for a couple of weeks and have been very satisfied.I used it to make a healthy stir fry and it handled that task much better than my Le Creuset skillet. It allowed the meat and veggies to move easily in the pan while still allowing a nice browning and slight crust on the meat.It will never replace the traditional Le Creuset for me, but it is a great addition to the collection and performs well when nonstick is necessary.According to CI, certain T-Fal models also out-perform much more expensive models.I recommend this to anyone looking for a nonstick skillet.

First T-Fal enamel cookware pan.Have had it almost a year now and still no scratches, even after using metal tongs. The pan is heavier than you expect and this size is pretty large.I use it to stir fry, cook eggs, brown cuts of meat or fish and finish them off in the oven and especially for making pasta sauce and adding pasta and finishing it all off in the pan.I would definitely buy this again over their cheaper lines. The heft and construction quality is really nice. The fact that it is oven-safe is even better.Cleans up well too.
