Paula Deen Signature Stainless Steel II 12-Piece Cookware Set

Paula Deen Signature Stainless Steel II 12-Piece Cookware Set ()Thanksgiving dinner is an ideal time to put new cookware through a workout; my Paula Deen Signature Stainless Steel II 12 piece set arrived in time for the holiday. As a food writer and recipe developer who's been cooking for more than 30 years, pots and pans are heavily used in my kitchen.Over the years I've bought and reviewed many brands of cookware. I've cooked on gas stoves, electric, and even glass topped electric ranges. Different kinds of cookware work better depending on the type of stove you have *and* how you tend to cook.

For example, a gas stove heats immediately. It's never a good idea-unless you're bringing liquid to a boil-to set the range temperture on high. In fact, with a gas stove, I even boil water over medium-high heat with any kind of pots or pans, especially nonstick. With an electric stove, care must be taken with regards to how long you leave a pot or pan on the hot burner, and for traditional cookware (without nonstick surface), you'll have to preheat the burner before trying to sear or brown meats, fry eggs, etc. Glass topped stoves can't take some types of cookware without risk of damaging the glass surface. THAT said, Paula Deen's Signature Stainless Steel II 12 Piece Cookware set can be used with care on any type of burner for many years of regular use. The set has a limited lifetime warranty.

Pros

-solidly made for long, reliable use of pots and lids

-traditional, uncoated pots can handle any type of utinsels, including wire whisks or immersion blenders

-lids fit snuggly

-well thought out, practical changes from earlier cookware sets by Paula Deen (see below)

Cons

-although stated oven-safety to 350 degrees, oven cooking could risk damage to handles

Another reviewer mentioned the cookware in the set is lightweight, which worried me until my set arrived. It isn't feather-light, and you wouldn't want it to be. Light cookware is often an indication of cheaply made pots and pans. This set is solid, medium weight, with hefty stainless steel bottoms for even heat distribution and aluminum with stainless steel construction. These aren't 100% stainless steel pots and pans; it says so right on the box. The nonstick pans are aluminum, meaning you'll have to keep cooking temperature lower to prevent damage... including flaking off or bubbling of the Teflon coating.

How does this set differ from Paula Deen's Traditional Stainless Steel set, or her 1st Signature Stainless Steel set? Aside from the obvious re-design of the glass lids (which are nicer in this new set), gone are the loose, floppy, annoying rings on the handles for hanging. Instead, the handles are much more solidly made with comfortable silicone grips and holes drilled into the outer ends for hanging. Construction of this new set is also far better and sturdier than her earlier sets. Unlike Paula's original signature series, these pots and pans don't have copper bottoms. As with most nonstick cookware, if you give the pans a serious workout on a daily basis, you can expect to replace them in a few years, but the pots and lids truly should last a decade or longer.

You'll receive 1, 2, and 3 quart covered saucepans, a 6 quart stock pot with lid, an 8" aluminum skillet, and a 10" aluminum skillet, plus a slotted turner and a slotted spoon. I'm rating the set at 4 stars. Paula Deen's new set is on par with a decent set of Revereware, is better than her enameled, nonstick set for longevity, is better than brands like T-fal, but probably isn't as great for a serious cook as Calphalon Unison. Nevertheless, it looks to be a reliable, affordable set of cookware.

()I've had this set of cookware for about 5 weeks now.I've used it enough to make a fair comparison to other stainless sets I've owned in the past few years. To be fair, this is the least expensive of three I've owned, so I will keep this in mind in my comparison.

This set has a nice selection of 4 stainless steel pots and 2 aluminum, teflon-coated skillets. The pots are attractive and unique in their teardrop shape, making them fun to have and use. They have a stainless-enclosed disc on the bottom for even heating, a feature that gives the pans a nice heft, and the rolled rims are finished very nicely. They come with well-fitting stainless steel rimmed, glass lids with "soft-touch," heat resistant handles that have copper inserts for a little added color and class. They are identified as oven safe for up to 350 degrees.

The skillets are made of aluminum and are of quite noticeably lighter weight, which immediately made me think "cheap", but they performed well, the foods sliding around without sticking and clean up was easy.I have a ceramic-top electric range so my concern with using skillets as light as these is warping after much use.So far, I have not had a problem. They sat flat and heated evenly, though I was careful to use low to medium heat. Time will tell. The two utensils (slotted spoon and spatula) that come with the set are handy and comfortable to use.

I've had no problems so far with the performance of this cookware and feel that it is a nice, inexpensive stainless steel set for someone starting out or wanting to update their kitchen cookware. There are certainly more expensive sets out there but I think that this is a very nice, well made, and attractive set for the price.

()The Paula Dean Signature Stainless Steel II 12-Piece Cookware Set is great for beginners, first-time homeowners, and as a general starter cookware set.The set is fairly inclusive with a couple of utensils, stockpot, three saucepans, four lids, and two skillets.

The skillets are very lightweight, which is good or okay depending on your desire. For those that need a lightweight set because of difficulty of lifting heavy items this is great. It's one of the lightest I've ever used. However, I personally prefer a thicker bottom for heat distribution and even cooking. The stockpot and saucepans are also fairly lightweight.

The lids are well made, however, some of the handles and screws were loose upon opening the box. They just needed a quick tightening, but it could be a question of quality in the future. The lids are glass and great for seeing what's cooking. The design is fairly simplistic with straight handles and gently molded stainless steel that curves along the top.The curves give it a slight southern feel in my opinion, especially with the ccpper-like accents on the handles. The utensils aren't a major addition in terms of quality.Very simple slotted spoon and slotted turner.

Overall, this is a great starter set. It's possible that you'd need a new set in 3-5 years (especially with the nonstick skillets), but it's a fairly nice design and is a good sized set.

()I am really enjoying cooking on this cookware. It cooks evenly but I've noticed you need to watch what you're cooking more closely than "coated" cookware.yAs for what it looks like, nothing is prettier than stainless steel pots all shined up. The lids are glass so you can see what you are cooking. The 2 skillets are non-stick. The info sheet says the pots (not skillets) are dishwasher safe. I put one of the pots in the dishwasher and didn't like the way it looked, lots of spots, so I hand-wash all of them. This cookware set would make a nice wedding gift. I definitely would recommend this!!

()And you'll still be able to see what's cooking. Why did we live so long without see-through lids???This non-stick set from Paula Deen isn't bad.I have never had a set of teflon cookware before, and I made a fried egg yesterday that explains why this stuff is so popular. The egg slid out beautifully, I cooked another one just for the fun of it.

The set is certainly complete for most needs. You get two frying pans, three saucepans (one, two and three-quart), a six quart "stockpot" (but if you make real stock, you know this is way too small...think of it as a pot for soups or stews). There are four lids. The two larger lids fit the biggest saucepan and stock pot, as well as the frying pans. You also get a slotted plastic for and a plastic spoon, about the quality of those sold in the 99C store.Nothing special, but then, they don't need to be.The handles are designed for hanging.

Speaking of handles are riveted on, but I'm already wondering how long before they start to loosen up. For $99.94, I want longevity. If the handles or the coatings prove problematic, I'll come back and revise this review. But right now, it's looking like five stars. The set certainly seems reasonably sturdy. The weight is about medium, not superlight/flimsy, and not so heavy your wrist snaps off when you drain the pasta. The handles are silicone...very comfortable to hold and they don't overheat. The set is ovenproof to 350 degrees.I really like the way the set looks. The pots are not straight sided, but have a slight curve. Very attractive and I understand that because the base is wider than the top, food heats faster and stays worm longer. There is probably a scientific term for this. There is probably a scientific term for everything, now that I think of it, but I will not look it up and inflict it upon you. You're being nice enough to read this in the first place and I don't want to push my luck here.

Using non-stick cookware seems a little counter intuitive. With regular pans, you have to heat the pan and then add cold oil to prevent sticking. With these, it's not a good idea to overheat an empty pan. This can, over time, cause the non-stick coating to bubble up.Other than that, it looks like these are no different from regular non-non-stick. Just remember to use plastic utensils only.

Now I have no excuse for not making one Paula's bacon and potato salad...a dish I actually have dreams about.

Ingredients

4 strips bacon

1 pound small red potatoes, unpeeled

1 green onion, sliced

1 boiled egg, chopped

1/4 cup mayonnaise

1 teaspoon Dijon mustard

Salt and pepper

Directions

Cook bacon until crispy. Drain, reserving a few tablespoons of the grease, and crumble. Set aside.

Place the potatoes in a large saucepan. Cover with cold water. Add a tablespoon of the bacon grease and some salt and place over medium-high heat. Bring to a boil and cook until the potatoes are tender, about 15 to 20 minutes. Drain and let the potatoes cool and then cut into bite-size pieces.

In a separate bowl, mix mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, salt, and pepper for dressing.

Toss potatoes, onion, and egg in dressing. Add bacon (I'd add even more back, maybe 3 or 4 more slices) Serve chilled.

This serves one person, two if the other one is very small and easily overpowered.

Revere 10-pc Stainless Steel Set with Tri-Ply Bottom

Revere 10-pc Stainless Steel Set with Tri-Ply BottomWhen I was a kid, we had Paul Revere pots and pans.I think my Mom still uses the same ones to this day.Once I took off on my own, I'd bought any number of different pots and pans none stood the test of time. From those brown clear glass things to a T-Fal pan that shed it's non-stick coating (yech!), they've all come and gone.It wasn't until last year that I asked for a full set of decent pots and pans. And what did I get but old faithful Revere Stainless steel set with tri-ply bottom.Sure, these aren't as sexy as some new non-stick thing you saw on TV, and they aren't endorsed by some wide-mouthed tv chef, but they'll last you a long time and clean up well. The pots are my favorite thing.Sturdy I've used them a ton, banged them around, cleaned them a million times and they still hold up.Sure, food can stick to them, but just use some elbow grease and the occasional SOS steel wool sponge and they're as good as new!I love them.I plan on using them for as long as they last which will be a very long time!!!!

I absolutely love Revereware. My mother used it and I still have apan and skillet from her which are still in use.My son has the rest of her set so we are a three generation Revereware family!!!

Cuisinart AMB-9SP 9-Inch Chef's Classic Nonstick Bakeware Springform Pan

Cuisinart AMB-9SP 9-Inch Chef's Classic Nonstick Bakeware Springform Pan, SilverI was happy at first with the quality of this pan: it has a nice weight and beautiful non-stick coating. But I have only used it a handful of times over 6 months and now it leaks badly. Apparently the clasp has already weakened and no longer pulls the pan closed tightly enough to form a complete seal. It has a "lifetime" guarantee, but you have to send $7 for return shipping and handling to Cuisinart. Together with what it will cost to mail, it's hardly worthwhile, since I purchased it for $12.95.

My Dad was a baker, So I always want really good quality pans to bake with. This surely is a A+ quality pan. I sprayed a little Pam in it and poured in my cake mix. I thought the batter may leak out a little at the bottom seams, do to it being a springform pan. But... No... It was perfect. No leaks. The cake baked nice and even in color. Also the cake removed very easily. In short..It's a Perfect baking pan for you to enjoy.

I am not a big baker but I thought I would start with these pans. So far, they have worked great. The batter does not leak our, the cakes do not stick, and they come right out of the pan when you open them up.

I ordered two pans. After the first baking, one pan no longer closed securely. Now there is a gap between the inside plate and the outside springform. I have no idea why this happened. The other pan seems to be fine.

Flat Cast Iron Frying Pan / Pancake Griddle / Skillet

Flat Cast Iron Frying Pan / Pancake Griddle / SkilletGreat little pan, perfect size; holds/makes enough yet easy to clean. Well made, solid yet light. I did not season it before I used it, it appeared well seasoned and was! I really like this pan. You can make breakfast, pancakes, crepes, etc. Buy it!

Eggs and pancakes stuck to the pan surface. The rough surface is okay for bacon if one does not mind splattering grease. However, that was just a test as I don't eat bacon and I may have cooked the bacon wrong. When I do cook bacon for others, I use my George Forman appliance and the bacon comes out perfect every time. But eggs stuck to the pan until I spent an hour smoothing the surface with a stone and drill grinder.Eggs then had a metalic taste until I learned from the Internet how to season it.No instructions for use or care came with this pan.I since bought a like pan that has a smooth, milled surface and after I seasoned it, I made the best tasting eggs I have had since I was a kid.I am giving away this pan to Purple Hearts Vets, Good Will, or the like. All this is just the subjective opinion of one 72-year-old man from Rhode Island now living in Maryland. My mom had a cast iron pan and as a kid, I cooked delicious pan toast aka 'Texas' toast but using regular bread and margerine. That was in the 1950s.One of my six elder sisters took the pan after mom passed.

Starfrit Die-Cast Aluminum Nonstick 10-Inch Square Grill Pan with Foldable Handle

Starfrit Die-Cast Aluminum Nonstick 10-Inch Square Grill Pan with Foldable HandleI have only used this over a stove, not a fire, but it heats up really well.I heat it for 3-4 minutes first, then slap on the meat and it gets a really nice sizzle and broiler marks.the pan is clever too because it has grease spill indents on both sides to pour off grease.Only negative is the same that all these fold up pans have ... they fold up too easily. There needs to be a locking mechanism so they don't fold up when you are trying to cook with them. Therefore you cannot flip with this pan because the handle will not lock in place.but that is minor. It's also very light which is what I need since I'll be backpacking.

CucinaPro Stainless Steel Electric Skillet

CucinaPro 1454 Stainless Steel Round Classic Electric Skillet 16 InchI'm very satisfied with my purchase.I wanted a stylish electric skillet.I did not want one with a non-stick coating, as those tend to flake off over time.I wanted something that had enough eye-appeal to use on a buffet table or to carry to potlucks.Typically, I use this skillet for lightly fried Italian dishes like scallopini, breaded zucchini, and chicken piccata.Having a temperature dial is useful when making these dishes as you can easily keep the oil at proper temperature to crisp the food without getting it soggy. This skillet does tasks that my deep fryer and crock pot do not do well.Basically, a deep fryer is too large for scallopini, and a crock pot is too deep for certain buffet presentations.Recently, I took it to a pot luck and used it to serve Buffalo wings. The instructions indicated that the pan needs to be "seasoned" before first use to avoid sticking. I did have some complications in seasoning the pan. When I called customer service, they said the easiest way to season the pan is to cook bacon in it.Any excuse to eat bacon is usually a good one.I did manage to properly season my pan and I do not have problems with sticking. The glass lid is nice.It has a tiny hole in it to allow steam to escape.

I have been looking for a large, high quality skillet, electric frying pan for a while.I decided to replace my current non-stick pan because it just didn't work right. It didn't get hot enough and scratched easily. The last time i used it i got so frustrated i unplugged it and walked out the door and threw it in the trash, still hot.so i began to research. You know, all of the pans at target, sears, williams sonoma are just junk.i guess people are just settling for lower quality items. Not me.I wanted a stainless steel pan.Non-stick is just not cutting it.anyway i read some of the negative reviews on this pan and was hesitant. So i called the company and was greeted by a very friendly woman that put my concerns to rest.i got the pan and messed up the seasoning process.I again called the company and was told to use a brillo pad but not while the pan was in water. If the pan is under water the steel fragments get inside the plug elements and short out.Anyway, i used the pad, came out great and then seasoned it by cooking a pound of bacon in it.I was set to go.I cooked summer sliced squash dipped in a egg wash and then seasoned bread crumbs and fried them in olive oil at about 325 degrees. (kind of an italian thing) The results were outstanding. The squash browned perfectly. It heated evenly and retained its temperature throughout the process.Cleaning was a breeze.I just slowly added about a cup of water, let it come to a boil and deglazed the pan.It was that simple.Who needs non-stick.That stuff is not a healthy product.I really had to look hard for this pan and would not settle for second best.I knew what i wanted and found it with this item.If you want a VERY LARGE, QUALITY pan then this is for you.Someone mentioned the sharp edge on the top ridge but i don't see that at all.The only problem, if it is one, is that there is no mark as a temperature guide setting.I called and asked and was informed that the light indicator is the mark.i don't see a problem with where the plug is located, in fact i think it is a logical place because if you are going tomove the pan you should unplug it.Its a great pan.I am a woodworker and my wife thought it hilarious that instead of asking for some type of tool for my birthday i wanted an electric frying pan.Oh yeah, it does a great job frying italian peppers.Life is good.

World Cuisine 9.5-Inch Crepe Pan (51224)

World Cuisine 9.5-Inch Crepe PanSo you are not like the negative reviewers for this product. They obviously did not do their homework or understand what they were buying. It is like blaming the pencil for a misspelled word.

As previously noted, these are authentic crepe pans that need to be seasoned and need a tiny bit of TLC...but it is actually easier than cleaning most other pans.Treat these just like you would a cast iron pan, and you will get years of service from them. They HAVE to be seasoned first, and you cannot leave water on them or leave them sitting for the afternoon in the sink, or they will rust.

When you get one home, wash it really good with soap and water. They usually have an oil film on them to protect them from rusting in storage.I wash mine with hot water and soap, at least twice, then dry with a towel.Immediately, put the pan on the stove and turn it to high. When the pan is nice and hot, take a paper towel and rub the interior of the pan with a little bit of cooking olive oil or peanut oil.The pan is gonna smoke, let it smoke until it stops, then wipe it again.Do this a total of four or five times. (I keep a dry paper towel handy, to make sure that the oil is not puddling in the pan it needs to be VERY thin coats.)After the fifth time, I let the pan go until there is no smoke or anything coming from the pan and there is no oil left, if there is still some oil moving around, keep it wiped out.(Do not do just the bottom of the pan, do all the way up the sides too...just fyi.)While the pan is still blazing hot, I turn off the stove, and wipe the bottom of the pan and outside with one of the papertowels with the oil residue on, and just keep wiping until it is not slick anymore.Be careful not to burn your hands. And that is it, the pan is seasoned.

As mentioned before never use soap or scrubbers on the pan, it will kill the seasoning and you have to start over.NEVER leave submerged in water or sitting in the sink where it can rest on water.I leave mine on the burner until I am ready to clean it and put it away.NEVER put it in the dishwasher.Once you have the seasoning on, you can just wipe it out, with a little warm water if necessary, and then dry it on the stove.About once every three or four uses, I wipe it down with a little oil while drying it on the stove, let it smoke, and turn it off and let the pan cool when the smoke stops. You will get years of use out of this pan.

The best part about this pan is it is cheap, but high quality.Other ones identical to this one are twice as much!

(Oh, and so I don't get an posting back even in my best seasoned pan, for some reason, the first crepe is always rough.Don't know why.We call it the Doggie's wish, because he gets the trashed one. But, from the second one on, they are perfect!

This is a real crepe pan. It's carbon steel, not plastic coated and it's not aluminum or stainless. The pan must be cured (like cast iron) to prevent it from rusting and to create a non-stick surface. The more you use and appropriately maintain it, the slicker the surface will become. If you're not ready to do what's necessary to make this pan work, you should buy something different.

But, this is the McCoy.If you know what you're doing, you really can't do much better (maybe Vollrath or Bourgeat). At the price ... a steal.

No offense to two of the previous reviewers, but they were clueless.

Buy World Cuisine 9.5-Inch Crepe Pan (51224) Now

I had one of these pans for over an year. Extremely good pan for Crepes and omelets. Never had an issue with rust. I am not sure how the earlier reviewer get it rusted. I am assuming that he may storing water in it, or may not be washing it and drying it after use.

First few times I had problems with crepes sticking to it.

There are few things you have to do with this pan. After you finished using it wash it hot water, never use soap. Heat it on the stove top for few minutes and apply some oil it. It takes me 3 mins to do it, which personally is not an issue for me.

You don't have to deal with the possible health issues with this, and it makes much better tasting omelets and crepes. It is hard to get a crispy crepes with non-sticks. I have crepes pans that costs almost 10 times as this one, but this still work almost as good as the expensive one.

She loves crepes and she loves this pan.I downloaded information on "seasoning" the pan. This was really a good idea as she was not aware of seasoning and sometimes kids do not like to be told how to do stuff. When she opened the box the seasoning instructions were included with the pan.The pan worked great right off the bat.It is a good pan.You won't be disappointed.

Wish I had bought one of these years ago.I have well seasoned cast iron pans, but this beats them for non-stick.I intend to get one or two more of these carbon steel pans, one probably will be a paella pan good for stir frying.

I had no problems seasoning it.The more you use it, the darker it gets, the better the seasoning.I wash it when still warm with a stiff dish brush and hot water.Nothing sticks to it.Great purchase.

Also, someone mentioned wiping the sides and bottom when seasoning.I do that too to keep the whole pan from getting any rust.Once you have the outside and bottom sealed, it pretty much will stay that way unless you're forgetful and use soap on it.

For all of you who seem to have a problem with this pan, just start over and do it again. You didn't ruin it just scrub it well with soap and hot water (only time to use soap) and put it on the stove to heat.Rub Crisco or oil on it in a thin coat (don't forget the sides or edges). When it starts to smoke, turn off the heat and leave it for a few minutes.Wipe with a paper towel.Put more Crisco on as above.Repeat the process a couple/several times. You want thin coats of oil.It should look really slick when you've done it correctly.Don't worry about any uneven color in the pan eventually it will all turn darker and even out.Even if it doesn't, its fine. And every time you use it, wipe a little oil on after washing, before you put it away.

Also, if something sticks to it, you probably didn't let it preheat long enough or didn't have it at a high enough temp.

ExcelSteel 13-Inch super lightweight cast iron wok

ExcelSteel 13-Inch super lightweight cast iron wokLove this wok. It's a good sized wok, very light so it's easy on the hand and heats up very fast. Food won't stick if you first heat up the wok real good and then swirl in the oil.

I've had it for over a year now. It is indeed lot lighter than a regular make. I seasoned it and it works pretty well. It's not completely non-stick as I don't like heating oil to avery high temperature before putting food in. But the sticky parts are usually very easy to take off using a spatula, and they become crunchy once the whole pan heat up evenly, and then even easier to take off.

While lots of stir fry pans have round bottom, this one has flat bottom , make it safer on the stove. One con being that it is light and the bottom tends to slip. You have to be especially careful if your stove sits in a kitchen island and make sure it does not flip over. I always grip the handle strongly when I mix and toss with spatula.

Usually, cast iron woks are very heavy, but, because of the thin, lightweight design of this wok, the wok is pretty light -light enough to carry with just one hand when there is no food in the wok. Also, the food cooks nicely and evenly. The only problem for you might be that it is not as large as some of the other woks out there.

If you are even considering buying cast iron, you probably know that many of the health gurus recommend buying cast iron over other materials such as aluminum, which leeches into the food and has been linked to Alzheimer's Disease, or stainless steel, which can also leech into the food, causing who knows what.

So, if you are looking for a cast iron wok, I highly recommend this wok because it is lightweight. Just know that this wok is slightly smaller than some of the other woks out there.

My review:

Pros:

Lightweight for cast iron

Durable and solidly constructed

Large13" rim on the top, much narrow on bottom

Cons:

Coating on the inside surface to protect from oxidation, rusting rubs off very easily

If you haven't maintained cast iron cookware before, don't start here, this wok is tons of maintenance

After every use, requires soaking to loosen buildup at bottom of wok from cooking with oil, lots of rubbing with soft sponge (bristles or scrub will damage coating), hand drying, and then coating with oil for storage. If you don't take these steps, the wok will oxidize and you will see faint rust spots on the surface of the metal. Honestly, it takes me 15 minutes after every use just to maintain this wok before storage. I'm giving it away and buying a Circulon Infinite Deep Skillet with a high end teflon coating.

Delonghi Model CS-17GE Cookware Set, Genoa, 17-Piece

Delonghi Model CS-17GE Cookware Set, Genoa, 17-PieceI love this cookware set. It's very sturdy and made with great quality. I would recommend this set to my friends. I love the steamers it works great.

Let me tell you this is exactly what I was looking for. 1st the rivets are stainless steel which was important to me, 2nd I wanted a pasta insert and this set has one, I wanted a steamer and guess what this set has one, 3rd and lastly the size of the Cookware is perfect. I am very happy-Thanks Mom!!!

I love these pots and pans, they clean up great, look nice and store easily.I actually forgot one of them on the stove top with oil in it and it was smoking and turned black, (thankfully I did not burn the house down!!). I thought the pan would be ruined. It cleaned up great and looks as good as new.I will say that I never had anything stick to the pan, eggs turned out great and even cheese wiped right off.You would think they had a non-stick coating but they don't.After the one almost caught things do stick to it from time to time but it still cleans up wonderfully.

Admetior 26cm Stainless Steel Skillet with removeable digital thermometer

Admetior 26cm Stainless Steel Skillet with removeable digital thermometerI'm on my second 26 cm Admeitior pan. It's a great pan even without the thermometer, but before I had this it seems I could never get my pancakes right the inside would be gooshy, or the whole thing would burn. With omelets, I just couldn't get that nice, consistent fluffy texture all the way through. Now they turn out great. If you have an electric stove, this is particularly useful since you have less control over the temperature.

So why am I on my 2nd pan?Well, the pan says it's dishwasher safe (the thermometer part is not).I always hand-washed it, but my daughter put the pan in the dishwasher and the sensor inside the pan broke. The removable digital piece with the display and buttons still works great when tested on my new pan it didn't go through the dishwasher.

I hightly recommend this pan, but don't put it in the dishwasher.

Emeril Stainless Steel Fry Pans

Emeril Stainless Steel 12 Inch Fry PanI purchased this pan recently and have used it several times.

As other reviewers of other Emeril fry pans have noted, you must get used to cooking with a lower temperature than other more traditional pans, so food won't stick, and won't burn.I have a gas range oven, and it works great so far, using it on the lowest temperature settings.Just warm it up for awhile before use with oil at low setting.

Even without a no-stick surface, as long as you oil it well when using (I have used high quality olive and canola oils), and don't overheat it, it has cleaned up just fine. The interior will stain a bit but that's what Cameo is for.

Note this pan is rather heavy, so not recommended to senior citizens and those who would be impacted as such.It does have a nice feel when using, though.

What I question is the "clad in copper".This is a poor joke on the consumer. The "copper" layer appears to actually be aluminum, with a copper metal PAINT over it.After the second use, the paint was already wearing off, revealing an ugly ring of irregular coloring. So much for "handsome", or whatever marketing term they use.Who knows what they really use.Perhaps some scrap metal?Docked a star for this.

I am fairly certain this pan is made in China.Don't expect an All-Clad made in the USA.

I bought the 8" pan.It stains like crazy. It's also weighted in such as way that the pan tips over very easily (the handle I guess makes it much heavier on one side).I would buy from another company.

Emerilware Stainless 12-Inch Fry Pan

I have been using this particular pan now for about 2 weeks, & I bought it here at Amazon because I am a "Savvy Shopper" who likes to save $$$. This 12" Stainless Steel Skillet by Emerilware is worth every cent I paid for it & THEN SOME! Emerilware is really made by "All-Clad" Metal Crafters who aretops in the business for making Stainless Steel Cookware, & also among the highest in what they charge for it too. NOT WITH EMERILWARE THO, this is why I own the whole set, it is like "All-Clad", "Without Breaking the Bank". I really like the usage of COPPER sandwiched between aluminum & stainless steel,(triple clad) discs on bottom. We all know aluminum is a great conductor of heat, well...COPPER is even better. Your getting "Two Bangs For Your Buck" with his line. And "If That Weren't Enough", because of this "Triple Clad" technology, you can save more $$$ by turning DOWN the flame on your stove while cooking, because of the extra added COPPER! Now who wouldn't appreciate that in this day & age? Before cooking, I just spray the bottom of fry pan w/a little Pam Spray, in addition to that for some foods I use oils. When done cooking, because of the special lip around the top edge of all Emeril's pans, the grease dripping pour out with ease where ever you aim them, NOT all over the place! Clean-up couldn't be more easy. Scrape the pan, run a little water in it to soak a few minutes, empty out the water, sprinkle a little Cameo, or Bar Keeper's Friend, in the bottom, use scrubber w/a little "Elbow Grease", rub out with dish cloth in water, rinse, & your done. Shines like new, & there is no worry that the pan will ever release & transfer those NASTY "PTFE or PFOA" CHEMICALS on your food that you can expect to get w/Non Stick Cookware. Your copper ring around bottom sides may tarnish just like a copper penny does, but that doesn't bother me! There is a nice "Stay Cool Handle" on the pan too, & I don't think that this pan is very heavy-at all! This is why I love Emerilware & own the whole set!All I can say is "GO FOR IT, WHILE THE GETTIN'S GOOD!!!

I went to a close-out store (in the tv commerical, the store's name began with a T, ended with a X.) The shopping cart was not very wide, I couldn't put it in flat, so I put the pan in the cart at an angle. I had two bags of coffee, 3 bags of cookies and two wash towels on top of it when my shopping was done. The check-out girl noticed the fry pan was wrapped, she asked me whether I want another one. Wrapped? It can not be my other items weighted probably 5 lbs. How soft was "the stainless steel"? I did not get another one. Maybe manufacturer sent B grade to close-out store?

Cuisinart GG-12 GreenGourmet Hard-Anodized Nonstick 12-Piece Cookware Set

Cuisinart GG-12 GreenGourmet Hard-Anodized Nonstick 12-Piece Cookware SetWe have now been using this set for 6 months. When we first received and began using them, the pans were perfectly nonstick so that food including eggs could be cooked without any oil, and cleaning was fast and easy.Unfortunately this is no longer true -the pan we've used most often now requires oil in order than food doesn't stick, despite hand-washing and following the manufacturer's other directions. If no oil is used, the pan is like a traditional pan and not only does food stick, but the pan requires prolonged soaking and scrubbing to get it clean. You must also be careful not to stack the pans (chipping and scratching).

The pan handles do not get hot, but the lid handles do, so be prepared to use a potholder to move the lids.

The set must be hand-washed and handled carefully to avoid chipping, but this is not a problem for us.

I would have rated the set 5 stars had it retained its nonstick performance. The loss of the nonstick capacity and the subsequent difficulty with cleaning the pans drops my rating to two stars.

1/3/10 Edited to add:We've now been using this set for a year and I've noticed several minute to small chips out of the cooking surfaces of more that half the pieces. We do not use metal utensils (silicon only) and are careful with cleaning and storing. One piece has also absorbed the smell of the food that was cooked in it.I am now looking for a different set of cookware, and regret buying this one. While I prefer a "green," eco-friendly product, I think this one needs some improvements in quality and design.

My wife recently began researching possible harmful items in our home, and asked me to get cookware without Teflon. Having grown up with non-stick pans, and having had a bad encounter with stainless steel, I was expecting this change to be a nightmare. Fortunately, I was pleasantly surprised.

I researched healthy alternatives to non-stick and came up with ionized aluminum, stainless steel, cast iron and ceramic coated cast iron. None of these seemed like a great choice. I then went to Bed Bath and Beyond to look at pans and discovered the Cuisinart Green line. After seeing the cast iron, I realized we probably would somehow damage our new glasstop stove as it was so heavy, so ceramic coated aluminum sounded great.

I settled on either Calphalon One infused ionized aluminum or the Cuisinart line. However, Bed Bath and Beyond is a bit confusing with the Cuisinart line. They sell Cuisinart "Greenware" as a set and Green "Gourmet" as individual pieces. The Green Gourmet set is a bit more expensive, and I was advised by the salesperson not to buy GreenWare as it has a rough bottom that may scratch a glass top stove. He offerred to order a Green Gourmet set, but I decided to buy one Caphalon and one GreenGourmet frying pan and test them before investing in a set. I honestly didn't expect either to work as well as my non-stick pans.

I generally only cook breakfast on the weekends, so I cooked what I know how to cook. I took both pans and set the burner at the same setting (6 on my stove which is the setting I used for the non-stick pans). I made pancake batter and used an organic olive oil cooking spray. Interestingly, the Cuisinart pan was too hot at 6 so the pancakes burned and I had to set the stove at 4 to get the same results as the 6 on the Calphalon pan. Both pans were great with the pancakes--better than my non-stick pan and probably the prettiest looking pancakes I have ever made. The Cuisinart pan was very easy to clean, but the Calphalon took a bit more effort. On another day, I cooked eggs. Again using the same Olive Oil spray. The eggs immediately stuck to the Calphalon pan. Having read instructions on using cast iron and waiting for the eggs to "release", I waited, and waited and waited. What a mess! I couln't get the burnt eggs off the pan. Of course as soon as I put the pan in the sink with water, they popped right off so clean up was easy. I'm sure there is a correct way to cook eggs on this pan, but I couldn't do it after 4 tries. On the Cuisinart Pan, I had no problem, and surprisingly, the eggs seemed to be easier to turn over than on our old Farberware non-stick.

So after this, I decided to get the Cuisinart and ordered from Amazon which was $50 cheaper than the price quoted by the Bed Bath and Beyond salesperson who offerred to order it for me.

I agree with those who said that this cookware worked well only in the beginning. After only five months of regular use and following all manufacturer's instructions when caring for the set, the coating began to chip off. I sent one of the pots back to Cuisinart, but still haven't received a replacement. Whenever I call I am told that this item is currently not available and they don't know when I will get a new pot. I've been waiting for over five months already. For this amount of money I would expect the set to last more than half a year. If you need a "disposable" set, then I guess Cuisinart is a good idea. Also, do not expect Cuisinart to rush with the replacement. As for nonstick surface, well it's no longer so. Even though the idea of creating a green line cookware is something lots of us had been waiting for, the quality of this set is very poor.

The Cuisinart Green Gourmet Eco-Friendly cookware is great!Heats evenly, does not need heavy oils, butter, or sprays to cook in (once seasoned).Cleans very easily also with little effort.I would have given these products a 5 star rating, but 2 of the pans I bought from Bed, Bath and Beyond had to be return/replaced because they had some strange shading in the coating.I was unsure if that would affect the life or use of the product and returned for replacement.I have had no problems with any other of these pans that I have bought elsewhere, it may have just been the batch sent to that store, so I can definitely say I recommend this cookware. One note, if you are a "put everything in your dishwasher" kind of person, you will not like how these look or wear if you do that.I use to be that way and have now gotten use to hand washing these wonderful pans and my new set of knives to extend their life and use.Go green!

I got this cookware set and was initially really pleased, especially with the price. After about two months of using the cookware there were a few things I didn't like.Number one, the large pot would not sit flat on my glass cooktop.Maybe it was just a faulty piece. The large pot also had a very small chip in the nonstick coating.I don't know whether the chip was there from the start or not, but I was careful not to stack the pans, didn't use metal in them and hand washed them. The other thing I did not like about this set is that it left aluminum marks all over my glass cooktop.I ended up returning the set and getting the Chantal Copper Fusion 9 piece set. It's more pricey, but I think it will last much much longer and is definitely safe as far as having no teflon chemicals.

Bakers & Chefs 10" Nonstick Restaurant Fry Pan (2 Pack)

Bakers & Chefs 10' Nonstick Restaurant Fry Panwife says that it is an excellent nonstick fry pan; uses it every day and is happy, happy, happy with item.

I've had one of these skillets for several months, now, got it from Amazon. Before buying, I did some research on the Eclipse non-stick coating. Standard industry Lab tests indicate that Eclipse is orders of magnitude better than previous non-stick coatings. I have to agree; this is the best skillet I've ever used; nothing sticks to it, it cooks evenly, eggs slide around as if they were on ice skates. It cleans up like new. I wipe it out with a paper towel, then rinse it out with hot water, and a dishrag (no soap, ever), even the raw aluminum outside surface. The pan is a good weight, good balance, it feels good in your hands, you can flip things easily, even things, like pancakes, that stick to some other pans.

I bought these two, one for each of my daughters; they tell me that they love the pans...and me. I give Bakers & Chefs an A+ for the design (sides are sloped, so you can easily flip the contents), construction (three burly rivets hold the cast Stainless Steel handle in place, and the slide on / off silicone handle cover ensures that you won't burn your hands. This is my favorite skillet.

Delonghi BG24 Perfecto Indoor Grill

Delonghi BG24 Perfecto Indoor GrillI am very satisfied with this grill; I have also given it as a gift to a relative who also loves it and uses it frequently.

Some of the problems described here (not hot enough, etc.), in my opinion, stem from improper use.Like any grill, you have to let it warm up, before plopping quarter pound hamburgers on it. My daughter over-cooked chicken breasts on it(they looked great (grill lines, etc.) but they were dry)--so the comments here about the heating element not working are simply not true.

I love the glass top that contains spattering; I also line the bottom of the grill (when cooking) with aluminum foil to make clean up easier. The grill itself is something of a pain to clean, but I put mine in the dishwasher and it comes out great.

This grill performs very well, but you have to allow sufficient time for the heating element to get the grill hot and choose the correct heat settings in connection with what you are cooking--not exactly rocket science, but judging from the reviews here, some people obviously find this challenging.

I got this grill about a week ago and I love it. First of all the cooking area is BIG.. and wonderful so that you can really cook. I also love how you can adjust the heat setting depending on what you are cooking instead of like my former George where it was 1 temp was supposed to cook all ( which burnt the outside of thick pieces of meat and chicken breast and left the inside way underdone)I also love how the fat drips down immediatlyinto the tray. On my George ( a big one) the fat would come sort of off one burger and then run into the other burger and stay therewithout ever going into the tray thing. Clean up is alot easier than George because I can stick all of it except the temp control into the sink or dishwasher to wash. I also like the lid that keeps the food from drying out while cooking and warm before it is served. I will admit it is not as fast as George but honestly the quality of food I cook is so much better b/c it has been cooked right and not just fast. This grill IMO is much more similar to cooking on an outside grill and the taste is better for it. I highly reccomed this product over it's competition, there is no comparrison! Move over George, YOU GO GRILL!

I have had my grill for a week, we've cooked lean steaks on it, pork chops, and the other night we cooked hamburgers on it.This is my first indoor grill so when one review mentioned the "George Foreman" grill was a bit faster, I was amazed I thought the Delonghi cooked pretty fast!!Clean up was really easy and one MUST remember to preheat it.I gather some have not.And as to smoking I haven't had any but then I buy lean meats and put water in the bottom if I think the food will drip a lot of fat.Fat dripping into the large tray in the bottom is what burns and causes the smoke.I've only used water once, with the hamburgers (no smoking). This really is a great grill and large enough to be more than satisfying (actual cooking space is 15"x11").Ease and comfort of use is amazing.I highly recommend it!

I've had this grill for about 2 years now but I've only used it about four times. After using it the last time I noticed blistering of the grill non-stick coating (Teflon?).I was able to scratch this off in a few places with my fingernail to verify if the coating was blistering or if these spots were just imperfections underneath.I wasn't pleasantly surprised to find that the blistering came off easily and that this could be in my food the next time I use it (healthy grilling!). I had many flects of coating on the table after running my fingernail over the blisters exposing the bare metal of the grill.

I therefore cannot recommend this product to anyone.By the way, I've only used a soapy sponge to clean the grill and never used metalic utensils on in while cooking. The "blistering" of the teflon tells me that the metal of the grill was not primed correctly before the coating was applied.Has this happened to anyone else? Before I throw this grill away I'm going to try to contact the manufacturer and see if they can replace the grill element seeing how this looks like a manufacturing defect.

This is the third Delonghi grill I have owned. The first was very similar to this model in that it had a non-stick surface. It was great.I had to replace it after 2-3 years since the power plug in unit broke.I replaced it with a Delonghi unit that did NOT have a non stick surface. It was impossible to clean.I returned it for astore credit and bought the Perfecto from Amazon on-line.I have used it 2-3 times a week since I got it.It is easy to use, easy to clean and I am very pleased with the unit.

Norpro 9.5 Inch Nonstick Egg Poacher Skillet Set with Removable 4 Egg Poacher

Norpro 9.5 Inch Nonstick Egg Poacher Skillet Set with Removable 4 Egg PoacherThis is a very nice product. The only complaint is that the cups that hold the eggs are molded into the pan.Our last poacher had removable cups with a little tab-like handle. This made it much easier to remove the eggs.

I've tried other egg poachers, but none of them are as good as this. It is well made, sturdy and gives perfect results every time I use it ...which is often. I purchased the Nordic Non-stick 10" egg poacher. A huge mistake, it began losing the non-stick coating after the first use. It became unusable after using it a few times. The eggs cooked unevenly and stuck to the surface even when I used Pam spray or butter. Get this product instead and you will be pleased. I hope this helps.

I've had this pan just over 3 months and have only used it a few times. Already the finish is coming off the bottom of the skillet. It is coated with a very thin layer of nonstick coating, which is not durable at all and not high quality. I have always washed it by hand, not in the dishwasher, so it hasn't been exposed to harsh conditions, other than boiling water on the stovetop. Other than that, the poachers work well, don't stick, and so far are not starting to peel.

As devotees of poached eggs, we have tried a number of poachers. This is the best ever. We use a bit of sprayed oil and have never had trouble with with sticking eggs or clean up. The egg holding tray is up a bit higher above the bottom of the pan than most poachers, which we like. While we were not especially interested in having to buy a whole pan, etc., in this case, we are very glad we did! Enjoy!

Scanpan Classic 11-Inch Square Griddle

Scanpan Classic 11-Inch Square GriddleI spent a good deal of money on what I thought would be the last fry pan I would ever own. It's backed by a lifetime warranty, so how can you loose?Well, let me tell you.The lifetime warranty covers manufacturing defects like bubbles and chips. But, there are more ways for the fry pan to fail than are covered by the lifetime warranty.

I've owned this for about a year.I've never used metal utensils, never put it into the dishwasher, and never cleaned it with steel wool.Over the time I've owned it, the pan developed a sheen to it.Without warning, one day the pan just stopped being non-stick.Now everything sticks, even with liberal amounts of butter or oil.I wrote to Scanpan to ask them about their lifetime warranty. They sent me two pages of photographs of situations which aren't covered. What seems like normal use to me might look like over-heating to them, which voids the warranty.

The problem is Scanpan puts a large metal disc on the bottom, which appears to be designed to provide even heating. What it does in practice is a) requires a long time to heat up and b) burns the corners since this is a square pan with a heavy round disc.

So, I'm buying another brand today, much cheaper. Why spend a fortune on a pan which only lasts a year when a cheaper pan will do the same job at a fraction of the price?I cannot recommend Scanpan products.

edit: I just received the Calphalon Contemporary Nonstick 11-Inch Square Griddle, purchased here from Amazon and I'm much happier. It takes a lot less time to heat up, looks better, and has a better non-stick finish than this more expensive one.It doesn't have the heavy metal disc on the bottom so I don't have to wait as long for it to warm up and the corners are in less of a danger of being burnt.Save your money.Don't buy from a company who will not honor their so-called lifetime warranty.I didn't get any more use out of this pan than far less expensive models.Use the money you save to buy yourself a nice steak.

The pan does everything we wanted and cleaning is a snap.We checked out every pan there is this size and this is the best.Great for Pancakes, bacon, eggs, grilled cheese sandwiches, and burgers.Never burns or smokes like teflon pans and surface doesn't peel.

As you can tell we love it.
