The kitchen store staff had some tips about how to perfect the process:1.) FIRST, put about 1 tsp. of butter in the pot with a small amount of vegies. (Wet vegies, such as tomatoes don't work as well. Green onions and peppers are great choices.)2.) Microwave your butter and vegies for about 30-40 seconds.3.) Break your two eggs in the pot, stir in salt and pepper, and add chesse...microwave for 40-50 seconds.4.) Scrape down sides and microwave again for 40-50 seconds.5.) Wait for 2 minutes to finish cooking then eat.

The omelets are nice and fluffy and ready in less than 5 minutes.The convenient size of the pot is beneficial to travelers.My son is putting it in his luggage while he Couch Surfs across the U.S.

I found these online for $7.95 and will be buying six or seven to give as future gifts.

I am not big fan of microwavable omelet in a first place; it taste a little bit rubbery.

Don't get me wrong this omelet maker is working, but it is another gadget-toy, which will take space in your kitchen and cost you about $20.00 w/shipping.

If you really, really want to make an omelet in your microwave follow the instruction:

Take ceramic or glass (microwave safe) cup or bowl cover it with a little bit of butter, add two eggs and what ever else you like, bit eggs with a fork a little bit, cover with paper towel or paper plate and microwave for 1-2 minutes and you got yourself an omelet, and you saved $20.00.

I own 4 of these and use them almost every day. We mix the ingredients the night before and place in the fridge, then I pop one in the microwave for 2 min while I take a shower. When I get out I have a nice fluffy omelet waiting. No it isn't gourmet, but it works, tastes great, is easy to clean and only uses one dish for cooking and serving. The white part is glazed ceramic and the yellow/orange is rubber. The rubber never comes in contact with your food. Since a touch of pam is used the cleaning couldn't be easier. I can barely keep eggs in the house!

I randomly bought this omelet pot in a store over the weekend. My expectations weren't terribly high, but I live in an extremely small space and have an efficiency kitchen, so one-dish/one-pot/minimal cleanup items are worth my time and attention.

This omelet pot far exceeded my expectations. It makes a light, fluffy, delicious omelet in a matter of minutes. My microwave is low-wattage, so it takes about four minutes to have a thoroughly cooked omelet, but I cannot complain at all for that.

All you have to do is pour the eggs (or egg substitute in my case) into the pot, add a bit of milk, whisk it with a fork, and drop in your ingredients and you have done all the work you have to do. Pop it in the microwave, wait for the ding, and eat straight from the pot.

It cleaned up well and I am pleased enough to consider buying a second one, since I would be very unhappy if I broke this one.

This product has totally spoiled me. I hardly use the stovetop anymore to do omelettes. My kids love the compact "english muffin" shape of the 1-egg omelette that this makes. Just 1 egg nicely whisked with a fork and a drop of olive oil. That's it. Sometimes, I add a basil leaf or some cilantro leaves.

However, I want to say that I have bought this item from Marshalls for $8 + tax. Broke the first one, and couldn't find another for 2 years ! It's a hit or miss finding things at Marshalls, so even at $16, I wouldn't hesitate to buy it on Amazon, just because the product is worth it.

1212823 Crepe Pan with Spreader and Spatula%2C 11%22 %2D Black MatteThe Staub crepe pan is simple and traditional.It is made in France and is a wonderful, purpose-built pan.It is made from cast iron which is ideal for making crepes because it retains heat well.The temperature of the pan does not dip as severely when the batter is first dropped and the temperature stays virtually constant throughout the cooking cycle.A small 1/8 inch lip helps contain batter at the perimeter of the pan, but is low so that you can effortlessly get beneath the crepe to flip it.

Only a copper crepe pan is arguably better.A thick copper crepe pan (e.g. Mauviel) will not only hold heat like cast iron, but because it is more conductive, it will transfer heat throughout the pan surface more quickly than will iron.As a result the pan heats more rapidly and regains any lost heat more rapidly as well.The only downside to copper is that any peaks in heat will be transmitted to the food pretty rapidly.If that happens, pull the pan off the heat source for a few moments until the pan temperature drops a bit.

The Staub cast iron pan comes with the traditional, wooden crepe spreader for distributing the batter evenly.For a pan of this nature and, I believe, in general, the spreader allows a quicker and much more even and thorough distribution of batter then the "tilt and swirl" method.Just watch a couple of videos on youtube showing Paris street vendors using the spreader to see the proper technique if you do not know how.You can master it in two minutes, but it consists of spreading the batter in a sweeping motion by rotating the wooden spreader from the center of the pan like the second hand of a watch.One end of the spreader stays largely stationary at the center of the pan, while the other end rotates around the circumference of the pan.You can then drag the spreader across the crepe once or twice very quickly if you need to strike it off a bit.

The first time I ever made crepes and galettes, I did so perfectly using this pan and the included wooden spreader.I wondered why so many people struggle making crepes the first time.If you let the batter set up properly for at least an hour to allow the flour to absorb the water, get this pan to the correct medium-heat temperature and spread the batter in a sweeping motion with the wooden spreader from the center of the pan like the second hand of a watch, you should be able to make a perfect crepe as well.

The first and possibly the second crepe off the pan will typically be lacking and are thrown away, so don't judge your efforts by the first one or two.After that, the pan should have the oil evenly dispersed and be evenly heated, so your results will improve.

My mother bought this pan for me about 10 years ago in France. I'd tried to use it a few times but always had better luck with the non-stick crepe pans. After problems with non-stick coatings peeling off despite careful use (no metal, no scrubbing), I decided to make a serious attempt to switch my crepe-making to this pan.

I started by cleaning it per Blackirondude's amazing Black Iron Blog oven cleaner and garbage bags for about a week followed by a really serious scrub with lots of soap and water. Then heated it slowly on the cooktop, increasing the temperature steadily until it was extremely hot. Gave it a quick swab with Crisco, then reduced the temperature and kept wiping off Crisco until it was cool and had a uniform coat. (Yes, it smokes up the kitchen.) Did this about four times over a week or two and ended up with a gorgeous black (non-stick) finish on the pan.

When I use this pan, I follow the Dude's recommendation of always heating the pan first, then adding a little butter or oil and starting to cook. It works beautifully no sticking, no throw-aways at the beginning, just great galettes and crepes. Clean up when the pan has cooled hot water, soft brush or maybe a little soap on a sponge if the fillings leaked, hand dry, then back on a low flame burner for about 20 minutes to thoroughly dry. Follow up with a very light coating of oil for storage.

Wish it were slightly larger for the dinner-style galettes. Would love to find it in a 12"-14" cooking surface.

Our friends from France had a similar French-made crepe pan that they make their crepes with.I thought I'd try this pan, especially because Staub creates such excellent cookware.

It is a beautiful addition to our kitchen.My only complaint is that it is heavy.If you like to swirl the crepe batter to create your crepes, this makes maneuvering the pan hard on the wrist.This crepe pan is meant to be left on the stove top while using the included wooden spreader for the batter--the manner people from Brittany say they grew up with.

We're going to get a second lighter weight crepe pan (for the tilt and swirl method) so that we can keep the crepes coming at home.

If anything, just looking at this pan brings back wonderful memories of a trip to France.

Why oh why did I wait so long to get this! I received my "griddle" on Thurs. evening and decided right then we were having pancakes for breakfast on Friday even though I had to hurry. They were fabulous just as I suspected. Staub should really be officially considered no stick cookware! My oil spread evenly and STAYED where put it, I never had to adjust the temperature after warming the pan to the correct heat and even the FIRST batch was PERFECT! This pan is HEAVY, but I love it so much it's worth every penny I paid. Can't wait to try crepes! It's also a gorgeous piece too!

Hamilton Beach saucepan is NOT non-stick.It is not actually a "color;" it is a different material from the "Black" color (which is truly nonstick).I had to return the former and order the latter.Have the black one in hand now: it is pretty nice, medium-light weight, has nice steel grooved bottom to even heat conduction (haven't tested this property yet).My qualm is that the handle is rather too long: not necessary to have that looped part at the end, and it takes up extra cupboard space.Also, the lid fits poorly -not a tight fit.But passable for ~$20.



I was looking for a stainless steel covered saucepan with a non-stick cooking surface and this one caught my eye after a lot of shopping.When it arrived, I was highly disappointed that nowhere on the packaging did I see references to a non-stick cooking surface although the title of the product on Amazon is described as "Hamilton Beach Nonstick Contempo Saucepans".The quality of this product appears decent and it would be unfair to rate it on just the bad description on this site, so on that basis I gave it a 3; but I'm still returning it as it doesn't fit my needs.Another reviewer apparently had the same experience.

Farberware High Performance Aluminum Nonstick 10-Piece Cookware Set, Black ()This set is 5 stars for what it is lightweight, non-stick, a great set for someone starting out, or for a cook like me doing basic cooking like beef stew, chicken taco soup, grilled cheese, scrambled eggs... that sort of thing.I've never made a roux in my life (please tell me I spelled roux correctly), and I'm not looking to do high heat cooking or anything fancy.By the way, when I say these are lightweight, I don't mean they're cheap, I just mean that they're a heckuva lot lighter and easier to manage than cast iron.(I once owned a 12" cast iron skillet and hated using it due to the weight of it.)

I've been using non-stick cookware for over a decade, and I've ruined a few over the years.Here's some advice in that you may want to exercise some care with non-stick cookware like this:

I don't think you'd want to do "dry" high heat cooking with non-stick cookware, even though Farberware says these are oven safe to 350*.You can boil water on high heat, that's fine, but don't put the skillet on the stove, crank up the temperature to high, and sear a steak on it.My husband did this with an inexpensive 3-year-old T-Fal non-stick skillet and the non-stick finish came off and stuck to the steak.The smokey fumes were terrible, it wasn't burnt beef, it was the smell of burning non-stick finish.And if you're lucky and don't ruin the non-stick finish with dry high heat cooking, you might warp the bottom of the pot or pan.If you have a traditional gas burner you may not notice it, but we have a smooth glass stovetop and a warped pot or pan will rock and not come into full contact with the stovetop.NOTE:I haven't ruined the non-stick finish or warped any of these Farberware pans in this set... I'm in my 30s and have ruined pans in the past, and am now more careful.And I'm not willing to ruin any of these Farberware pans as test subjects by cranking up the high heat just to see how the pan holds up to it.=)

This Farberware set says it's dishwasher safe, but if you want to maintain the non-stick finish as long as you can, wash this cookware set by hand.Dishwasher detergents are harsh and will also discolor the outside of these pans, making them not-so-pretty.

Okay, onto what I like about this set:

Love the red color, it's pretty, and I like the glass lids that I can see through to what's cooking inside.I like the sizes that come in this set.Even the little 1-quart saucepan, I often use it for hard boiling 4 or 5 eggs at a time for making egg salad (I'm the only one who eats egg salad).And even though I'm just cooking for myself and my husband, I like the larger sizes too as I like to make a big batch of stew or soup and freeze part of it to be eaten later.

The one piece in this set I don't really use?The 8" skillet.I always reach for the 10" skillet... for making scrambled eggs for the two of us, or making a grilled cheese for myself.The 8" doesn't have 8" of totally flat space because of its sloped sides, so the sliced sourdough bread I use for grilled cheese ends up a little bit on these sloped sides.I just like the extra roominess of the 10" skillet... maybe because I'm not very skilled at flipping things, and I can't be trusted not to flip a grilled cheese or scrambled eggs out of the 8" skillet on accident.

In summary, I love this set, it fits me well.I'll update if there are any longevity issues, like if my husband tries to high-heat sear a steak again.=)



()Consider this carefully please. Most items in my kitchen are commerical professionalquality except the ones that will not fit for size reasons. I examined this set carefully from another point of view. This is a excellent set to give to a couple just starting out in life without expendable income.. meaning one pan of high high quality can cost more than this entire set. Thisset will last them a good amount of time while they build their life together and improve on the quality of pans as their marriage grows. Another person I would recommend this for is someone with arthritis or elderly that needs lighter cookware for lifting reasons. This is perfect for them. I have nice things to say about it because we (my friends and I) tested this seriously looking at it from several angles. It really is easy to clean. It really does brown well with no issues.. you simply cook on a lower heat. Something I liked and respected about the way Faberware marketed this and put clearly in the instructions is that if you have a bird in the room ANY teflon product may not be for you. Sometimes its lead to death in birds in the room when things cook at high temperatures. Its great that they didn't attempt to hide that fact. A nice feature considering the price is you can put this in the oven up to 350 degrees safely.

Not under the broiler though.. so be careful. I consider this a good value for the price and if I was (god forbid lol) starting over again would purchase it because its a extremely practical value for the money and well made. Something to consider also is this red set is a sort of soft brick color... almost cranberry. Its softly beautiful and will accent any kitchen.

I got this set because I love the color red, and I thought that this set would look nice in my house. I wasn't disappointed--the deep reds of this set are awesome!

We used a couple of these camping, and they held up extremely well. I think the fire of the campfire is much hotter than the 350° max that they recommend, but the handles didn't melt at all.

They did get a lot of scratches and water spots, and a lot of the non-stick stuff wore off, but we did use these pans every single day for over a year, and often we used them more than once a day. We usually washed them in the dishwasher, but I do think they would have held up a little better if we had hand washed them.

I thought these were awesome, and I rate them 5 stars. But, I asked my girlfriend, and she said that she would only rate the set 2.5 stars, because of how they didn't hold up too well.

Pros:

+If you like reds, you'll love this set

+Holds up under extreme heat

+Great for an everyday set

Cons:

-After a lot of use, they get a lot of random scratches

-The nonstick Teflon stuff wears off after a while

-The pots pick up water stains really easily that are hard to clean off

()This is a nice, heavy duty set of pans for the price. These are not thin, light pans, and I love that. Although this set is on the lower end of the price scale, I feel that it's a set that will last many years. They feel solid and very well made.

The nonstick is great. It is true nonstick coating. Everything slides right off and rinses right off. You can tell the nonstick coating is somewhat thick and you don't have to be scared of scraping or it peeling off, etc.

They heat quickly and evenly. I have found that I can boil a full pot of water in the stock pot somewhat faster than with my previous set without turning the heat up any higher.

The handles are plastic and do not get hot. I must be honest and say though that the handles give the pans sort of a "cheap" look (in my opinion). I do prefer chrome or metal handles. But that is just my preference in the visuals I guess not a functional downfall of this set. The handles do not have the metal attachments inside the pan for the food to get caked in, on or around and I love that as well less to worry about cleaning.

I also love that the sauce pans are tall and deep instead of shorter and wider. The skillets are sized perfectly as well as the stock pot. I love using them.

The lids are solid and fairly hefty as well. The handles on the lids are plastic too and do not get hot.

I have the set in Red and it actually has a shimmer to the paint, almost glittery, but very faintly these aren't going to sparkle all over the place, but there is definitely a bit of shimmer to them. Anyone who likes shiny red things will love them lol.

For the price, this set it awesome. I recently spent more on a set and was totally disappointed with it. It was so thin and lightweight and so not worth the money. They ended up being returned. This set here is just perfect.

I have not yet put them in the dishwasher, so I cannot report on that experience. I may do so once they are older and I am done being so gentle with them. I have noticed in the past that putting pans in the dishwasher sometimes discolors the bottoms of the pans and I do not want that to happen with this set. I want them to stay "pretty" :I hang them along an exposed beam in my kitchen, so I want them to look good up there.

This would make an excellent housewarming gift or starter set too. It will last for yeas to come, I'm sure. It is also plenty perfect too of course for your everyday set.

If you're on a budget, but want/need a good set that will last, this is the one. It is a great set.

()I was excited to get this set. A couple of our T-Fal pans were on their way out.So this was perfect timing.Typically we buy nonstick cooking equipment to last for about 2-3 years.We intend for them to be used everyday, be dishwasher safe, and look nice.I don't expect them to last a lifetime (I have cast iron cookware for that), because I know that eventually the non-stick surface wears out.That said this Farberware set fits the bill.

We have in the past purchased T-Fal sets and have always been pleased with them, this was our first Farberware set.The set is nice.I like the glass lids, allowing me to see what is cooking.The pans seem to heat evenly across the surface without any noticeable hot spots. They do seem lighter in weight than our comparable T-Fal set, but I have noticed any issue from that.Everything seems to have been put together sturdy.I could definitely see this set lasting 3 years.

My only complaint is the size of some of the pots. A 1 quart saucepan is useless in our household.basically I can boil a couple of eggs in it.I would have much rather had an extra 3-quart saucepan and given up both the 1 qt. and 2 qt. saucepans.The 8" skillet is also of little use.We usually buy a separate 13" or larger skillet.But this size set is common among manufacturers at this price.

I think this is a great everyday set that you will enjoy and it won't break the bank.

Farberware Superior Nonstick 12-Piece Cookware Set, BlackI had all but given up on the elusive "non-stick" cookwear set.I recieved this set as a christmas present and I couldn't be happier.I have burned cheese, made scrambled eggs, and just about every other sticky thing you can think of and every time clean up is a simple wipe and rinse.I would recomend this set to anyone.I do hang them rather than stack them and use rubberized utensils in them because I don't want to scratch them, but regular use has not caused any scratches or worn areas that stick.I have had pans that looked worn out soon after using them, not these, still good as new after 2 months of constant use, cooking 3 meals a day for 6 people.

Tonight I used the large fry pan and the finish on the bottom came off and left marks on my stove that cannot be removed.....simply awful.....very frustrated by this.Would expect better from this company.

Would not recommend to anyone.

All-Clad Stainless 12-Inch Fry Pan Lid

All-Clad Stainless 12-Inch Fry Pan LidMy All Clad LTD 12" fry pan is my most used pan.While this 12" fry pan lid fits the pan, it doesn't seal as well as it should.The bottom lip is very shallow and is smaller than the diameter of the fry pan.I need to be careful to put the cover on properly.I compared this 12" fry pan lid to my All Clad sauté pan lids (since the All Clad sauté and fry pans both have flared lips) and the sauté lids have larger and more squared bottom lips that closely matches the pan opening than this fry pan lid.

I will keep this lid.But if there is the chance that All Clad listens, they have a chance to get up to five stars.

Potential buyers should be aware of a couple things:

1. Most of All-Clad's lids and other accessories (things other than pots and pans) are made in China and aren't actually "clad," the 3-layer bonded metal that is characteristic of the company's U.S. made cookware.Nobody needs a bonded metal lid, you aren't cooking on it.This info is from their website.

2. You can get way cheaper lids.For example, the Calphalon "everyday pan with lid" often goes on sale on Amazon for about two dollars more than just this lid costs.That lid fits this pan like it was made for it, and is also domed so you get more space inside.Plus you have an extra pan.

My advice is get a cheaper lid made by another company, or buy an all-clad skillet with this lid included when its on sale for 80-100 dollars which happens from time to time.

I recently purchased an All Clad 12 inch skillet and lid.My pan and lid have approximately 1/8 to 1/4 inch of play between the edges of the skillet and lid. I would expect this from a cheap set of pots and pans, but not from All Clad. A few of the other reviewers have also mentioned issues regarding the fit.

I have an 8 inch All Clad skillet and lid and those two fit perfectly. It appears there may be a production/quality problem with the 12 inch lid. I am not happy with the purchase.

I ordered this lid to use with my 12" All Clad Copper Core fry pan.After all, if you drop $225 to purchase one of the world's best fry pans, you want a beautiful, perfectly matched lid to go with it, even it it is going to set you back another $50, right?It is a nice theory, but as others have pointed out, things don't quite work out that way.On its own, this lid is a handsome piece of adamantine stainless steel, a tribute to the founder's art.But when paired with its mate, it stumbles, and nearly fails.It simply does not fit properly.

Can it be used?I suppose so.But it requires a certain amount of fiddling and titration which is not compatible with the frenetic activity which sometimes accompanies bringing a complex mutli-dish meal in for a smooth landing.In short, it is a frustrating solution, especially when you have expended almostfor the combination of pan and lid.Fortunately, I have a glass lid from a long discardedTarget fry pan which fits well.I would consider buying this lid if I needed one, and if the asthetics of mis-matched lids is irksome to you.It is usable, even if it is somewhat vexatious.So, for purposes of having a matched set, I am glad I own it. I'm just not so happy I bought it.

Kudos to marketplace seller Metro Kitchen for getting this bit of dreck to me promptly and well packed.

NB All Clad:It is absurd that this pan does not come with one of your "made in China lids".But it is even more absurd that alid does not fit afry pan.You will not stay the cookware of choice for serious cooks if you keep putting out poorly engineered items such as this lid.Perhaps if your lids were made at the same factory as your pans (here in the US) instead of in China, such miscues would become obvious in time to correct them.Given your stratospheric prices, it is beyond my ken to comprehend why you feel the need to cut corners by outsourcing your lids overseas.A pox on your accountants and purchasing agents, as well as your senior management.;^)

In comparison, the All-Clad lids for my 10.5 inch frying pan an 1-quart sauce pan fit perfectly.

I gave it only 2 stars because of the fit was not what I expect for a $47 lid.

Researched how to use to cook meat: set pan on burner to get the sides hot, then add 1-2 tbl oil, then add food and move pan a little to move the food around until the meat gets a glaze on the exterior and no longer wants to stick. Cover with a lid and cook meat until done on lower heat and remove from pan. Then add a cup or two of broth, a splash of wine, and 1-2 tbl of cornstarach and stir. Makes the worlds quickest gravy. I have read you can only do this process with a stainless pan.New technique for me and makes your meat taste gourmet.I don't mind if the pan discolors on the bottom. I am too busy to care. From the reviews I've read, every pan on the planet does that and some people complain about it. My mom scrubs hers with barkeepers friend. Would have been nice if it had a lid. Works ok to use and ill-fitting lid from another pan.Very happy.

Wash prior to using to remove the substance that was put on the pan for protection. I really like this pan. It heats evenly and cleans up wonderfully. The pan is substantial in thickness and the handle is perfect. It does not get hot and it is easy to hold. I would recommend this pan.

I have been purchasing new stainless cookware, one item at a time, for several months... a by-product of taking classes toward a non-professional culinary certificate. I have bought all tri-clad products from a few different manufacturers based on reviews, but I've stuck to the name-brands that I knew and spent a lot of money. Then, just before Christmas, this one went on sale and I thought the price was good enough, and reviews enthusiastic enough, to take a chance... so I did. I couldn't be happier! It is a very solid skillet, with a nice, flat bottom, and it heats very evenly. It cooks better than my 10" tri-clad skillet that cost about twice as much. It simply sautés beautifully! I'm going to look further at this line as I buy other pans.
