KitchenAid Hard-Base Porcelain Aluminum Nonstick 11-Inch Round Deep Grill Pan, Red

KitchenAid Hard-Base Porcelain Aluminum Nonstick 11-Inch Round Deep Grill Pan, RedI am SO in love with my KitchenAid grill pan. Nothing sticks to it! Believe me, I've given it lots of opportunities to let me down, and it always comes through. I've made steak fajitas, grilled chicken, salmon fillets all cooked perfectly, quickly and with those great grill marks to boot! Clean up is easy, too. I highly recommend this to anyone who loves cooking. A great buy!

I have been getting into watching The Food Network and many of the hosts use these grill pans for cooking everything from salmon to steaks. This pan seemed reasonably priced and of good quality so I ordered it.After washing it and preparing to use it to cook dinner, I then happened to read the fine print on the inside of the cardboard labeling.Do Not Use on Glass Smoothtop Electric Ranges as pan MAY FUZE TO COOKTOP.Not a good thing, so I returned it.Looked like it would work nicely for all other types of cooktops though.

I like good cookware, and own mostly Calphalon products. So, when I decided to try the Kitchen Aid, I wasn't expecting the quality of a high-end cooking utensil.Well, I am very impressed, and pleasantly surprised.Cooks evenly, easy clean up, and the red color is perfect.Highly recommend.

I used this pan to sear Filet Mignon at very high heat.It heats very quickly. The grill marks are unusual (circular).

For this money it is a superior buy.

It cleaned up in a jiffy with no effort.

This is a good buy.

this pan is a super addition to my cookware.

a grill pan is SUPER important if you are cooking meat indoor.my steaks always looked grey and weird, but now they look tasty!and taste better!just sprinkle salt & pepper (and, for even more flavor, add some chopped garlic to each side of the steak) and it will be as good as if you had grilled it outdoors!and it leaves beautiful marks (especially if you don't move it a lot during cooking.)

also, it is SO SO SO SO easy to clean, everything just wipes/rinses off. I have never had anything stick to this pan.

a cast iron grill pan is also important, as the heat capacity of cast iron is better for things like cold hamburgers/steaks, but a nonstick pan is essential for delicate items like fish.also, you could not deglaze a cast iron pan (the acidity hurts the seasoning) so if you wanted to deglaze this pan is better.(although nothing sticks so there is no fond!)

Lodge Color ECSGP53 Enameled Cast Iron Square Grill Pan, Emerald Green, 10-inch

Lodge Color ECSGP53 Enameled Cast Iron Square Grill Pan, Emerald Green, 10-inchI bought this and the Emerald Green Panini Press together. They make a great team together. The grill pan is great! it heats evenly and slowly. I use either EVOO or refined peanut oil on this pan to give it its non-stick properties. I use the Misto can to spray a light coat on it and when its at the desired temperature I start cooking. I havent had a problem with things sticking and burning to any of the Lodge Enamel products. Any sticking that has happened has been quite minor. Keep in mind no enamel product is going to be as non-stick as teflon. Period. But with the right cooking practices, they can be as non stick as you need it to be. The Lodge Silicone handles work perfectly fine with all the Lodge Enameled and Le Creuset products (including this one).

Lodge Color vs Lodge L-series: I talked directly to their customer service to get the low down on this subject. Both sets are enameled the same way by the same vendor with the same amount of enameled layers. They obtain the same quality control. Other than the obvious shape and color differences the only thing that separates the 2 sets are the stainless steel handles and embellishments on the L-series. I was also told by customer service that they are phasing out the L-series and are going to continue to move forward with the Color series.

Just an FYI the Emerald Green is a little darker than the Le Creuset Fennel Color if you are looking to match the two sets. You might notice more of a difference in color between the Lodge's dutch oven and Le Creuset's French oven (same thing) but overall they are quite close in color. But between the skillets you wont notice hardly any difference unless you examined them right next to each other. They actually match quite well. I own Le Creuset pieces in Fennel and Lodge Color pieces in Emerarld Green. I have not seen either out perform the other.

This pan is awesome, I'm not sure why people think it's difficult to clean, it's not.If youhave had any experience cooking with cast iron this is your pan, if you are a lover of non stick, it might not be.I've cooked burgers and chops and they come out beautifully!

This grill pan is a great alternative for grilling during the rainy winter months. Gets nice and hot and leaves good grill marks. Be careful though because the whole thing gets hot even the handles. That's why I gave it only 4 stars.

Nordic Ware Non-stick Egg Poacher Insert for 10 Inch to 12 Inch Skillets

Nordic Ware Non-stick Egg Poacher Insert for 10 Inch to 12 Inch SkilletsWe love our new egg poacher. So many poachers cook only three eggs; this one cooks four.It fits inside a skillet and, because the handle is short, the skillet's lid will cover it.Each section is a rounded triangle, which is cute, and wider than a standard "cup" shaped poacher section. This allows the white of the egg to spread out a bit more, and results in the white cooking more evenly. No more jiggly whites! After some experimentation, I found that I could bring the water to a boil in the skillet while I buttered the poacher and cracked the eggs into it, then place the poacher in the skillet, cover, reduce heat to medium, and set the timer for exactly three minutes. Perfect eggs every time!

I was searching for an egg poacher and was glad to find that I could get one without having to purchase another skillet. This works great and all the eggs cook evenly without any feathering, waste or mess.I add a little butter or cooking spray to the egg chambers and they come out without any sticking.Butter works best. I use a silicon spatula to remove my eggs. They don't stick to the pan, but they don't slide out without assistance.

Since feathering is no longer a problem, I started using this to poacheggs for salads like macaroni, potato, and tuna.Instead of waiting on eggs to boil and then peeling them, I poach the eggs until the yolks are set, cool them and then dice. A real time saver, especially if you forget to start the eggs with the pasta or potatoes.

The Nordic Ware Egg Poacher is a simple and economical product that produces consistent results and eliminates the need to buy an egg poaching skillet.I recommend it and would buy it again.

Tip: The use and care directions are printed on the back of the cover.

If you don't want to spend $30+ to on a specialized pan to poach eggs once in awhile, get this egg poacher insert. For less than $10 you get a versatile pan insert that fits in any 10" skillet, saving you time and money.Be sure you spray the surface with a non-stick spray before dropping in your eggs or the whites will stick.Once the whites stick too often, the pan becomes unusable. But who cares? At these prices, I bought 2!

This item claims to be non-stick but hardly passes the test. Unless you use butter and make sure the butter fully coats the container area were the eggs will touch, you may get achieve non-stick but don't count on it. If you use olive oil, you'll be scrubbing the egg off this product. My view of what a non-stick product is means you do not have to coat the pan with fats and oils to make it work. I guess you get what you pay for. In this case, you get what you didn't pay for.

Fagor Countertop Induction Cooking Set, 2-Piece

Fagor Countertop Induction Cooking Set, 2-PieceI attended a cooking class taught by the head chef at the Capital Hotel in Little Rock, AR and he used this device several time during the eveing. I bought one for myself and love it.I can just sit it on the count top and cook away without worrying about flames or heated coils.Just DO NOT USE IT ON A METAL SURFACE! think about it & you will know why!I am a house mother in a fraternity house and have a tiny apartment with no stove this is perfect.I would recommend it for anywhere, ex: camper. As long as you have electricity, you can have a stove right on the picnic table if you like.No flames to catch it on fire.Light weight, portable and works as well or better than gas.If you have caphelon sorry cannot use it on this device. But, any pan that a magnet will stick to will cook well.Try not to scratch it up as it is a glass surface device. Also you can use a razor blade scraper to clean up any big spills but they don't cook on the surface like other stoves and clean up is easier anyway. You can spread a cloth beneath it and throw it in the wash no counter to wipe.Yeah!I will even let my granddaughter cook on this device with supervision, of course.

I like the design of this cooktop, the simplicity of the controls, size, operation, power cord, noise level, all very good. And the frypan was well built and attractive for a non-stick item.

I would like to give it a 5 star rating, but can't because the unit I received was defective, and the replacement unit was also defective (but in a different way).I would like to think I just got a couple of bad units, as with proper operation, it would be a great unit.

I was excited to receive the unit, I had been reading about induction cook tops for quite some time.I already had two pans, a small carbon steel wok, and a stainless steel (with magnetic heat disk bottom) omlete pan.Plus this unit came with a really great non-stick frypan with a bottom magnetic heat disk bonded to the bottom. So I knew I had the right cookware to use. I also had an electric meter to test the wattage draw at various settings so I could evaluate the performance with each setting.

Intial set-up was simple, plug it in, place a pan with a couple of cups of water on the unit, and hit the on button. It defaulted to the #5 setting, (specified as 800w) and with-in a couple minutes water was boiling. All pans performed in a similar manner, but I did note that the wattage varied by the pan, from 600w to 700w.I continued testing the lower settings, the wattage dropped some, heating seemed consistant, the lower two settings seemed to jump from .5w to 200 to 500 and back again, as expected from what the manual said. All was fine and good, I was pretty happy with the unit.

Then I tried the higher settings, with each of the pans.Other than a slight variation in wattage, results were the same.#6 jumped the wattage up about 100, #7 another 50w to 850w, but #8, 9, & 10 would surge from 600w to 1100w, water would boil ferociously, then not, then back again. If I tried adding more water (like one quart) it took forever to get it to boil, even on the highest setting.I was so dissapointed.

I reluctantly asked Amazon for a replacement, they were great, sent me out a new one in two days, I got a pre-printed return label, a great experience.

Then to test the new unit.I was so hopeful, but where the first unit seemed to work properly on settings #6 and lower, the replacement unit seemed to surge on all the power settings, and would never rise above 900w, even on the highest settings.

It was so dissappointing.Since the unit is rated at 1600w, I think I just got two bad units. The first one worked so well in the lower settings, where one would do most of their cooking, but I need the ability to boil as well.So much promise, I really liked the unit, but the performance was not there for me.

I returned both units, and purchased an 1800w Duxtop unit.I will review it after another week of use, so far so good, I don't like the design as well, the lower settings are a bit hotter than I wanted, but lots and lots of heat at the higher settings.

We have a small kitchen area there with a microwave, but no means of actually cooking anything.I wanted this to mainly make some eggs to go along with toast for breakfast.Wow the eggs are ready by the time the toast is done and I start them both together.I only use the setting of 3, not sure how hot it gets on 5!I really like this product does exactly what it says it would do.

Vollrath S4014 Aluminum Wear-Ever Fry Pan with Powercoat2 Interior And Cool Handle, 14-InchI recieved as a gift a wearever cool handle fry pan for Christmas 25 years ago. It is just now showing some wear on it. So I decided to order me a a 14" everwear cool handle fry pan, I was so excited to receive it. When I recieved it, it was exactly what I expected. The nicest thing about these forever lastingpans is the cool handle that they have on them, easy to pick up and handle withoout burning yourself. Oh yeah! did I mentioned how long they last? As long as you don't use metal utensils while cooking this pan will last, I have had my old one for twenty-five years now and I think I can maybe get another five out of it or more before I stop using it. It's a little pricey but, well worth it!

Joyce Chen 23-0003, 11.5 inch Lightweight Cast Iron Stir Fry

Joyce Chen 23-0003, 11.5 inch Lightweight Cast Iron Stir FryI bought this wok to use it on the inner rings of my flat surface stove so than the range hood can suck all the smoke while i am cooking. The size is perfect. The bottom size is 6", which fits the ring perfectly. The top size is perfect too, though i can use a 12" one too. The wok is solid and heavy and can hold up heat. I have used very cheap cast iron pots and cabon steel pots. They are either too heavy or too light. This one is great.

The only thing i dont like is that it seems to have a coating. After we used it the first time, the coating was burned off. I guess it is the seasoning coating. Hope it is harmless.

I only used it for one month. I coat it with oil before and after each use, it still gets sticky after one month. The dark "natural seasoning"comes off as small pieces, then mixed with my food. After their "natural seasoning" comes off, the pan became very sticky like a stainless pan, and it's not stainless, it's rusty. I'd go back to Starfrit's cast iron pan, even though it costs little more.

This wok stays cute on my oven top, suitable for 2-3 person. It is light weight, easy to clean and maintain. It heats up quickly and can get very hot. The vegetable it cooked looks fresh and with good taste. With meat, it did stick a little bit at the beginning, but I think for cast iron it takes time, the more you use it, the less it sticks. For those who have 4-5 people to serve, I would suggest you to try that 14" one. Before buying this one, I was struggling between a carbon steel and light cast iron, finally I decided on cast iron, because a friend shared that she had both of them, both get heat quickly and not stick, but carbon steel more easily gets the vegetable steamed, with more water come out, while cast iron makes food come out dry and still taste juicy.

I recently purchased an induction burner (Max Burton 6200 1800W) which I love, but the problem I ran into was finding a cooking vessel that could take advantage of its heating potential. After some experimentation with various pots and pans, I found that the ones made of carbon steel and cast iron work the best....by far.

I was really happy to find a cast iron wok that didn't weight 75 lbs and was the perfect design (wide bottom). I got it yesterday and was blown away by two things; how light it was and how hot you can get this wok. I used a thermal gun on it and got readings above 800 degrees. Even my carbon steel wok didn't get that hot.

This wok comes pre-seasoned, looks to be well constructed, is priced right and definitely does what a wok is supposed to do...."get rocket hot". If you are looking for a good gift set for that vegetarian cook in your life, get this wok and a good induction burner (they aren't expensive). They'll love you forever.

La Paella Carbon Steel Paella Pan

22 Inch Traditional Steel Paella PanFits great inside my standard size webber grill. good heat distribution, cover outside bottom with dish soap before using on grill, makes it easier to clean afterwards

Initially I thought the 16-inch pan would be too small. You end up with 5-6 servings (prepare to be amazed at how fast people come back for seconds). But it ends up being perfect for my grill a slightly bigger pan would fit, but I wouldn't be able to close the grill, don't forget to account for the handles.

Like any thin pan, don't heat it up without anything it, or you'll make it lopsided. The plastic/rubber coating on the handles doesn't come off on the grill which is nice. A bigger pan would be a bit harder to hold on to as well. Make sure you order a good oven mitt.

Buy La Paella Carbon Steel Paella Pan Now

Bought this after getting tired of cooking paella in a stainless steel frying pan could never create the "socarrat" aka crusty layer of rice at the bottom, and this pan really allows you to do so. Researched different materials and this one seemed to be the most recommended. It's quite wide my first time using it I had leftover paella for days! So keep in mind that if you don't have large burners on your stove, you might be using two side-by-side to cook the paella. Because the pan spread across two burners on my stove, the key was to keep moving it so that no two spots became "hot spots" and to ensure the rice cooked evenly. I am hoping this is a pan I keep for years so far it's seemed perfect.

The only reason I'm not giving it 5 stars is because the instructions it came with said to simmer the pan with a dash of white vinegar before the first use to get the film/coating off the surface. I did so then washed and dried it, and it left the pan looking dull and slightly worn even though it was brand new. Not that it takes away from its functionality, it just won't look new and shiny any more.

I have a big family and I wanted to make Paella where I don't have to make it twice or thrice and bought this. Love how this can serve 15-20 people. So glad that I made the right choice of buying this.

This quickly became a favorite for our Sunday friends and family dinners, especially during the spring and summer months, when we can eat outdoors by the pool. The recipes are plentiful and adjustible to your families taste. I began with a 22 inch then bought the 14 inch, we always make both, the 22 inch "Paella de la Valencia" seafood and the 14 inch all meat, sausage and chicken for the non fish eaters.

I would recommend that a purchase of the 14, 18, 22 or 36 pan would be best, Why those sizes you ask? Well, Weber kettle comes in those sizes, the pan fits right on top of the appropriate grill (you do need an airgap between the pan and lip of the grill or it will snuff your heat) and anyone can cook this amazing dish to your own taste, in a method as close to tradition as possible (without a fire on the ground) in your own backyard. Oh yea the red handle means HOT, someone else recommended good grill gloves and I second that. I use welding gloves, but I already had them. I also wrap the handle with a kitchen towel or washcloth while it is on the table to remind our guests that the handle is HOT also.

The only other things needed to make this dish properly is Spanish "Bomba" rice, saffron and a long (20"+ recommended)spatula. I have not seen these items cheaper than Amazon anywhere else I shop near home, you're gonna want to make this stuff pretty quick after you get your pan so may as well order it now.

Norpro Nonstick Heart Pancake Egg Rings, Set of 2

Norpro Nonstick Heart Pancake Egg Rings, Set of 2I was thrilled to receive these in my Christmas stocking! I have used them a few times to make heart-shaped blueberry pancakes and they work great. They are easy to use, don't stick to the pancake (you may have to run a knife between the edge and the batter before flipping) and the little knobs stay cool so you don't burn your fingers. I rinse them off before throwing them in the dishwasher and it's been working great. They make the cutest little pancakes, I uploaded a photo of the very first pancakes we made with them. Easy and so worth it.

I had no problems using these for fried eggs in a skillet. Remember that the cooking surface should be flat as rounded bottoms will cause leaking. I also greased the ring it self with a small amount of country crock on my fingers before cooking. The eggs slid out easily. The kids and wife were impressed and my 3 year old squealed with delight.

I was pleasantly surprised at how well these rings worked. I believe I had read some reviews about people having difficulty with eggs/pancake batter seeping out. Although i have not tried these with eggs yet, i can say that i didnt have this problem with pancake batter. Just make sure that the pan is hot and ready to go, and the rings have been coated with non-stick spray along the inside. I also set them on the pan for a couple minutes to warm up before pouring in the batter. They worked really well and made the cutest heart shaped pancakes! I will be uploading a picture of them as well.

Earth Pan Stainless Steel 9" and 11" Skillet Twin Pack

Earth Pan Stainless Steel 9' and 11' Skillet Twin PackWe were initially impressed with how slippery the surface was we could hardly flip eggs they were so slippery! However, we have had them 4 months and within a couple of months residue was sticking to the pans and we took special care never to be abrasive with them -had to be very careful to let residue actually stay on them as we couldn't get it off at all!!Now the actual finish is coming off and there are areas all over both pans where the finish is completely missing. They are impossible to clean and look awful...plus the finish is disappearing!! They are a waste of money and will not last more than 6 months if you use them much at all!Stir frying veggies, frying eggs, bacon etc. are just not possible without permanent staining, residue buildup, and the finish coming off in a few months!!I am really upset cause it was around Christmastime and I ordered one for my mother also!!I can promise they were not abused and we just had to buy new skillets as everything now sticks to them and they will NOT clean. I fried fish in one the other night and the whole battered outside stuck to the pan and wouldn't even clean off. If you have to use real abrasive cleaners you might as well write it off...the finish is coming off and we haven't even used anything abrasive on them! The inside of the handle also has two screws which collect food and don't clean easily, either.Put your money elsewhere! They won't fall apart until your 30 day return policy has expired! The rapid deterioration may be due to frying in these pans and the heat involved we have gas burners and I have no idea if it is the heat on them that has caused this but we do not heat them without food in them and if you can't use them to stir fry or fry eggs then what good are they?

These are great for a few uses & then the non stick just isn't there. High heat cooking seems to speed up the loss of the non-stick surface. They stain easily & are just a major disappointment. The instructions tell you not to use oil or butter... who cooks without oil or butter? I was thrilled for the first few uses... than sadly let down. Don't waste your money, like me. I thought after my first purchase of one pan they were great & ordered 4 more, only to realize they were not worth the money after several uses.

My advice is to anyone who still wants to try it-make sure you use a small pan for a WHILE(MANY MONTHS)cook a variety of things in it and make sure to only use medium to low setting always..

Save your money folks! This is piece of junk. I bought this only after consumer reports' smart shop recommended this product as the best overall. What a joke! They certainly need to do that research again.Like everyone else I was thrilled to use this the first three times or so but after that the food seemed to get stuck more and more to a point even a heavy coat of oil didn't help from food sticking. I couldn't fry eggs even with 1/4" oil without sticking. I mean come on that's not what I call non stick by any means. I bought 10 and 12 inch pans and I am regretting it heavily. What a total disappointment and waste of money!

These pans were great when I first bought them. However, now that I've had them for less than a year, everything sticks to them. The only thing reliable about them is that every time I clean them, more of the finish disappears.Do not buy these pans.I sadly got an entire set last year for Christmas and now I will need to reinvest this year.A wasteof a couple of hundred dollars.

Hamilton Beach 25450 Gourmet Panini Press

Hamilton Beach 25450 Gourmet Panini PressYou can't give this machine a bad rating. This Hamilton Beach Panini Press does one thing and one thing only, but it does it very well. If you enjoy pressed/grilled sandwhiches you will love this machine. As I write this I'm eating a feta/olive/artichoke/roasted peppers on pita sandwhich hot off the panini press, and it's scrumptious. I actually bought this as a christmas gift for my mother, but I probably use it more than she does.

The machine looks good on the counter, and has a large, non stick service. It's not on a hinge so it's designed to accept even the thickest sandwhiches without squeezing all the filling out. You can even "lock" the lid down to apply constant pressure, or lock it up to maintain minimal pressure or to not make contact with the top at all. It's great for quesidillas as well. Ignore the user that says it takes too long to heat up, it takes only a couple of minutes, about the time a waffle maker would take to heat. Even cooking on the stove you need to take a few mins to heat the pan! Also ignore the comment that this machine burns the bread before heating the filling, I've never had such problems, although I do wish there was a temperature control for further versatility. But my bread never burns... I find 2-6 min will brown the bread perfectly, from lightly browned to nice and crispy (depending on how you like it) without burning it at all. I've never burned anything on this machine. Maybe this would happen if you used the wrong bread, but I can't say for sure. I even once used it to grill some chicken, and it did the job nicely, though it's not really designed for that.

There are a few down sides. This is a no-frills unit. There is no included recipe book, just a few hastily thrown together ideas in the instruction booklet. That's not a big deal, as I'm sure you'll have plenty of ideas of your own. More disappointing is the lack of a temperature control. That might have helped the reviewer who had problems with bread burning, and would give better flexibility. The machine itself gets very hot on the outside, but that's to be expected. Keep youngin's away from this thing, though. There's no alternate "plates" or cooking surfaces for say a flat "griddle" style surfaces, so if you prefer that or find a need for one. I don't think that's a huge deal, but I do think I'd prefer a flat surface, as that means more surface contact and more browning (though you wouldn't get those nice brown grill marks).

This is a decent machine at a decent price. It could be better with a temp control, some added weight, and some extra features, but all-in-all, you can't complain too much there.

*Update*

After having this a while, we noticed the non-stick coating was beginning to a) lose its nonstick ability, and b) peel and flake off the cooking surface (and into our food!).

This was within a year or two of owning and using with only non-metal utensils. We only used the grill occasionally, so it's not like it was due to over use.

I've also since come to realize that nonstick in general, and PTFE (Teflon) in particular, make absolutely no sense in an application like this--the surface must get quite hot to do it's job well, and that both burns the coating and causes it to release harmful fumes into the air. I've reverted to using a pair of well-seasoned, cast-iron pans, one small enough to fit inside the other. I preheat the pans until they are very hot, and let time and weight to the rest. No harmful fumes, no limited lifetime, and cast iron holds and distributes heat as well if not better than even the higher end presses.

If you're looking for this kind of grill, you'll have these problems with almost any model, but I would recommend a plain cast iron model without nonstick if you can find one (I've never seen one). You may also want to just try doing it the old fashioned way. Honestly, I don't remember why I thought having a dedicated sandwich press was a good idea.

Excellent value because it's not just a panini press -you can also use it as a contact grill for vegetables, burgers, etc. You do this by using a set screw to lock the upper plate at the height you want. Bingo: buy one appliance rather than two.

The upper plate has about 3" to 4" of travel, so you can press fairly thick sandwiches. The size is nicely compact, with the overall dimensions not much bigger than the heating plates.

The plates have very fine ribbing, so you can't use this grill to fry eggs or pancakes. If you want those options, consider the Breville SG620XL panini press/grill (which has flat plates that lock into 6 positions), or the smaller Hamilton Beach 25219 Contact Grill.

Mechanically, the press has a nice design and it works OK for a $40 item. The upper lid is not hinged, so it can be raised very high to accomodate thick sandwiches.Bread comes out nicely ridged and crunchy. It does take a while for the unit to heat to cooking temperature, however. The main problem seems to be how to cook the inside of the sandwich without burning the bread; for an average sandwich (3 oz. ham and 2 oz. cheese) after 1.75 minutes the bread is done, but the ham is not sufficiently warm nor the cheese melted. This may be an issue with all lower-end panini presses, I suppose; perhaps some experimentation with different bread types and cooking times will solve my little dilemma. In any case, so far the resulting sandwiches are better than if served at room temperature, but not as good as those heated in my toaster oven and then slapped together.

First off:

1) I've used it now for over 6 months and not a single flake of the teflon coming off. My husband is a panini addict too. The machine is used every other day at the very least!

2) The plates are not flat because they are not supposed to be! I know one reviewer commented that they hated it because its not flat. This is a PANINI machine and not a griddle.

3) One reason people's sandwiches are not hot through out could be because we are used to eating HUGE sandwiches. Remember this cooks from the outside in, so if your sandwich is HUGE, the middle is going to be cold. That is just common sense. I like more meat than bread when I have a sandwich because I am not a bread person. (I eat my hamburgers with no bun or only half a bun.) But my sandwiches on the panini are hot throughout and they are not skinny whimpy ones. And if you are going to have lettuce and tomato, put it on after you cook the sandwich. I personally do not like cooked lettuce, tomato, pickle, etc. on my sandwiches...YUK!

4) Another reason could be because you need to put your ingredients on evenly. Don't clump a bunch of stuff in the middle and then expect it to be hot, it's not going to. Lay your ingredients evenly across the sandwich and there shouldn't be a problem with it heating throughly. Also remember the thickness of the cuts that you put on effects it too. Slice your vegetables thinner and there shouldn't be a problem!

5) It doesn't take a long time to heat up if you do it right. You go in the kitchen, get out the panini machine, and plug it in. THEN go to the refrigerator and get your items, wash your vegetables, slice things up, etc. By the time you have everything ready, your machine with be hot and ready to go!

6) It's plenty big! I have a big husband and son. Between the 3 of us it takes mere minutes to make our sandwiches. We fit at least 4 sandwiches at a time on our machine. So I'll make the guys their sandwiches, then plunk my sandwich on after theirs, put away all the fixings, and when I'm done so is my sandwich! Or we put the panini in the middle of the table and get all the fixings together. While someone enjoys their salad, another cooks their sandwiches. Good conversation and good panini sandwiches, you can't beat that!

We love this panini sandwich maker. I've seen many more units that are fancier and MUCH more expensive but I don't need all the bells and whistles for a sandwich for pete's sake! I have brunch or lunch dates with family and friends all the time and we make panini's. We set out the fixings and let everyone put together a sandwich and make their own panini! Seven people have bought their own machine since then! One of the greatest gifts this machine gives is an easy way to eat healthy. You don't need any grease, butter, margarine, Pam, or anything when you use it. That is so much healthier! By far, one of the best kitchen gadgets I have ever purchased!

I've been using this press every day since it arrived at my doorstep. I love it! It does have a few issues:

1) The lever that secures the height of the press broke after 1 day of light use. Also, the black paint started to peel off in its first use. I just took the entire thing off and it still works just fine.

2) The surface of the press is not insulated. I have to keep my young children away from it.

3) It does not have an on/off feature. Just plug it in to turn it on.

4) The grill plates are not removable for easy cleaning. I would have given it 5 stars if it had this feature.

I still gave it 4 stars because I consider these issues to be minor compared to the great food this thing makes. Makes a killer grilled cheese sandwich. I have also made quesadillas with it. Yummy!

To address some of the other reviewer's comments:

1) Do not overstuff your sandwiches. There is a very popular, expensive deli in our area that makes terrific paninis. They dont put much in the middle but the fixings become hot, yummy goodness. I have gone to other deli that try to give you a big bang for your buck and put in tons of fixings. The fixings came out cold and the cheese not melted. If that happens with their commerical panini maker, you bet it would happen with this one.

2) I like the fact that the surface is NOT flat. It leaves wonderful grill marks. I think the food should look as good as it tastes.

Overall, a great panini maker especially for the price I bought it for ($39.54, not including the $25 off $125 promo discount). Target sells this thing for $49.99.

Cooks Standard NC-00236 12-Inch Ply Clad Stainless Steel Fry Pan, Multi

Cooks Standard NC-00236 12-Inch Ply Clad Stainless Steel Fry Pan, MultiI researched extensively before I purchased and demanded tri clad up the sides. Researched how to use to cook meat: set pan on burner to get the sides hot, then add 1-2 tbl oil, then add food and move pan a little to move the food around until the meat gets a glaze on the exterior and no longer wants to stick. Cover with a lid and cook meat until done on lower heat and remove from pan. Then add a cup or two of broth, a splash of wine, and 1-2 tbl of cornstarach and stir. Makes the worlds quickest gravy. I have read you can only do this process with a stainless pan.New technique for me and makes your meat taste gourmet.I don't mind if the pan discolors on the bottom. I am too busy to care. From the reviews I've read, every pan on the planet does that and some people complain about it. My mom scrubs hers with barkeepers friend. Would have been nice if it had a lid. Works ok to use and ill-fitting lid from another pan.Very happy.

Wash prior to using to remove the substance that was put on the pan for protection. I really like this pan. It heats evenly and cleans up wonderfully. The pan is substantial in thickness and the handle is perfect. It does not get hot and it is easy to hold. I would recommend this pan.

I have been purchasing new stainless cookware, one item at a time, for several months... a by-product of taking classes toward a non-professional culinary certificate. I have bought all tri-clad products from a few different manufacturers based on reviews, but I've stuck to the name-brands that I knew and spent a lot of money. Then, just before Christmas, this one went on sale and I thought the price was good enough, and reviews enthusiastic enough, to take a chance... so I did. I couldn't be happier! It is a very solid skillet, with a nice, flat bottom, and it heats very evenly. It cooks better than my 10" tri-clad skillet that cost about twice as much. It simply sautés beautifully! I'm going to look further at this line as I buy other pans.
