Lodge Logic L17SK3 Pre-Seasoned Cast Iron Skillet, 17-inch

Lodge Logic L17SK3 Pre-Seasoned Cast Iron Skillet, 17-inchWith proper care this pan will last more than a lifetime. Most of the Cast Iron pans made in the late 1800's are still floating around. This pan can last that long too. While this pan is hugh and can cook lots and lots of food. It is better suited for outdoor cooking on a Campfire or a Turkey fryer base than useing in a kitchen. It is pretty big for a stove as you can have two burners heating it at once. I am glad I bought this pan. I also bought a smaller skillet for use on my home stove.

But for campfire cooking this is one of the most versitle pieces out there, you can fry in it, use it a a griddle and make monster pancakes. You can even whip up a big batch of Chili. If you likecamping or even backyard cooking this is a must have. I like to use mine with a Turkey deepfryer base as the heating element it works great.

I bought this specifically for making my homemade pizza. I've found that baking pizza in a cast iron skillet that was generously coated with shortening yielded wonderful results, whether one preferred thick (my choice), or thin crust (my wife's choice). It turns out a pastry-like crust that my extended family raves over. (Be sure to use a generous amount of olive oil in the dough..4 tablespoons per two cups of flour..)Baking it at 500 degrees is also part of the secret. The problem was that I previously had only the smaller 12" cast iron skillets, but this big boy allowed me to make a hearty pizza main course for four to five hungry adults. The cast iron also retained heat for quite a while, once out of the oven, so that my pizza stayed warm until the last slice had been eaten. Clean-up was a breeze..just wipe the pan out with a paper towel and give it a spray of cooking oil.

It's big, it's black, it's cast iron! I had the 15in skillet in my wish list for a long time when this one showed up in my gold box. I didn't even mind paying the higher price for a pre-seasoned piece which is a bonus for a skillet of this size. The two smaller handles on this one make it even easier to get in and out of the oven, not to mention giving it a better fit. It works just find on the stove top but will over hang the side a bit. A damp towell on the counter will help if your counter is not high heat proof. If you cook big meals for big crowds you're probably already in love with cast iron. Put this one on your list. And thank you Amazon; not many companies will wave shipping on somthing as heavy as cast iron.

This pan is an invaluable accessory on the burner you use for your turkey fryer. It's great cooking outside with this pan and the two loop handles make it easier to carry. And you'll need two hands to carry this pan. Also, the absence of the typical frying pan handle prevents it from being knocked or moved on the burner when working around it. If you're looking to cook large quantities of food quickly, don't hesitate to buy this pan!

The Pre-seasoning makes this pan so easy to maintain and a dream to cook with. Nice large capacity, high heat cooking without worrying about toxic teflon chemicals absorbing into food. This is healthy cooking with easy non-stick clean up.

I love making pan pizza in this skillet, everything just tastes better. You won't be dissapointed. Just brought my expensive set of teflon down the basement and am replacing with Lodge Logic.

Anolon Advanced Hard Anodized Nonstick 14-Inch Mega Skillet

Anolon Advanced Hard Anodized Nonstick 14-Inch Mega SkilletI was so pleased to find this item.Comparable items from the private "Pampered Chef" Executive line are twice as expensive. It turns out that the Anolon Advanced appears to be an exact match to their pieces. The quality far exceeds the typical Wal-Mart, Target, Penney's offerings. The thickness of the anondized construction as well as the fabulous "Dupont Autograph 2" coating makes these pieces perfect for family life.Having that coating on the outside really insures the beauty of the pieces is maintained over time. The Hard anondized construction is great but if you had anything spatter on it (like olive oil), you would always see that after it was washed and dried. With Anonlon Advanced you get the best of both worlds! The skillet it super huge so no worries about capicity.

This piece is huge!! I can do so many different things in this pan. I love the tough non stick inside and out!! Clean up is incredible. And it goes in the oven up to 400 degrees. I did a huge fritata over the weekend for the family, we covered it in cheese and put it in the oven. It slid out of the pan onto my serving platter, cooked evenly thru out no burning on the bottom (have you ever seen that when you start something on top of the stove) wow!!! I can not say enough about this piece, it was a great choice for us!!

We received our skillet a couple of weeks ago, and we are thrilled with it! We've used it several times already, and like the way it fits perfectly on the large burners on the stove. The skillet heats evenly, and quickly, and the high sides avoid alot of food mishaps, like oil sloshing over the sides, and food falling out when you stir it. The rubber coated handles are a lifesaver as well, since you don't have to scramble for potholders when you have to move it from one location to another. The small handle on the opposite side of the pan makes lifting a breeze. The nonstick coating allows for quick and easy cleanup as well.

Just make sure you have a spot large enough to stow this skillet in. It is BIG!

UPDATE... 5 Months, We have used this skillet for just about everything and I highly recommend this Anolon Advanced Nonstick Hard-Anodized Aluminum Cookware to everyone looking for great, heavy duty, long lasting cookware for the following reasons...

I wanting a big skillet, I use it 2-3 times a week for just about everything you can think of cooking and even on my grill. Now I did things to this skillet for a reason before I was going to buy a new set, things you would never do too nonstick cookware. I have Deep-fried, Seared, and once burned this skillet to the point "I thought" I had destroyed it. Once I even dropped it when it was very hot "in cold water" putting it down on the edge of the sink to cool. I have owned dozens of nonstick cookware over 30 years of cooking. I always went with less costly pots and pans sets but found that the nonstick coating did not holdup at all on the skillets. I tried just about every brand of nonstick skillets made over 30 years. I also use, good old cast-iron which takes high heat very well but as anyone knows, is very heavy. Why am I saying all of this... Simple!

Anolon Hard-Anodized Aluminum Cookware is "Heavy Duty" but lightweight; The Advanced Nonstick Coating on my French Skillet has ~very slightly~ turned brown in the middle most likely from when I burned it. If this had been another brand, I would have thrown the skillet away because, once you burn the nonstick coating, it peels and scraps right off! My Anolon Advanced Skillet is heavy duty, has taken high heat, like cast-iron but weighs a quarter of what my 14-in cast-iron pan does.

However, what I have done is find that this cookware can standup to abuse like no other cookware I have ever used. This is what sold me on the advanced nonstick coating. I know with the right care, and uses, the Pots, Pans, and Skillets will last for years! This is why I purchased a whole set of Anolon Advanced Nonstick Hard-Anodized Aluminum 12-Piece Cookware Set. "Are they worth the higher cost?" After what I did to this skillet the past 4 months "I'm Sold" they are the best cookware for the price! ~will be updating this again~

Take care not to burn the pan as it is not recommended for greater than med-high heat.I used mine on high to stirfry and the nonstick coating changed color slightly.Nonstick coating is durable and works well, but not perfect. Also, be careful not to burn yourself on the metal portion of the handles on either side of the silicone.

UPDATE: 3/2009 I have had this pan for about a year and a half and it is going bad.The non-stick coating is no longer working well and I am going to have to order a new pan.The non-stick coating on this pan was always a good deal "rougher" feeling than the Revere-ware pan I purchased at the same time and now it is starting to let food stick. That's why I am on Amazon today, ordering a new (NOT Anolon) pan...

Wow, I more or less just wasted my $43 on this skillet.I'd return it, but it will do as a 12 inch skillet for me.But I am very disappointed.

I had a T-Fal skillet that measured about 11 inches at the base, with a gradual slope up the sides that would allow me to pile a fairly good amount of fish, or pork chops in the pan quite easily.I have no idea where it came from, I may have gotten it by default when I got married. It has served me well over the years.

But it has some scratches and the non-stick coating is getting rough (still doesn't stick, looks like it is slightly bubbling.)I read that this means it is time for a new pan.

So I came here looking for a slightly bigger pan to replace it, as I always seem to have one filet or chop that won't quite fit or I have to cram the food in tightly.

So I settled on the Anolon 14 inch skillet that I am reviewing here.I also ordered a Revere Convenience 12-Inch Skillet thinking it could replace my smaller 10 inch pan that was also showing some scratches.

I received the Anolon 14 inch skillet and hauled out my tape measure and it has roughly a 10 1/2 inch base. The same as the cheaper, and smaller sized Rever Convenience 12-Inch Skillet. The top is 14 inches in diameter, but the base is the same as my 12 inch skillet.

How is that helpful? This is just a more expensive, takes up more space on the stovetop skillet with the same cooking surface area of my 12 inch Revere skillet!

I am not happy at all with this. The sides are very gradually sloped, so I can see that this might be useful if you are using it as a WOK or for vegetables, but for meats that you want solidly on the cooking surface, this is just a bulky, space stealing pan.

You're better off with something else.

Weight Watchers WWA22-24D Divided Skillet, 10-Inch

Weight Watchers WWA22-24D Divided Skillet, 10-InchThis pan is perfect for cooking two items at the same time without the food mixing together.I love when I have to make eggs and pancakes. Its perfect. Even though the pancakes are half a circle my family doesn't care. It saves time for me and only one pan to clean up.Clean up was simple, the food doesn't stick. There was no scrubbing, food just falls off the pan in dish soap and water. I would recommend this to anyone who wants to cook two dishes at once.It is a small pan so only two pieces of chicken can fit in one side of it. Just to give you a ruff idea how small the one side is.

This pan is really great!

The non-stick surface is very durable and even stands up to a metal whisk quite well.

The only bad side is the induction compatibility is delivered by a small, thin disk of steel in the base.

Hamilton Beach Nonstick Contempo Skillets

Hamilton Beach 92101 Nonstick Contempo 10 Inch Skillet, BlackAfter one time using this skillet on low heat, it turned dark brown. Handle wiggles. I find things stuck to it all the time.

Allow me to preface my review by saying that while I enjoy cooking, I am by no means a professional chef nor am I an avid cooking enthusiast. As such, my review score is based on the expectations of a "layman" who cooks for loved ones and friends. I am not comparing this skillet to premium cookware with a high price tag.

I mainly use this skillet for breakfast food such as eggs or ham and dinners consisting of chicken, pork, vegetables or seafood. My skillet appears to heat evenly as I have not detected any "hot spots". I've had consistent results with a variety of foods and so I am pleased with this skillet. A skillet is just a tool and so the tastiness of food is a result of the cook's skill. That said, I can report that I have had dishes ruined by flaws in other skillets but I have never had that problem with this one.

I bought this skillet for under $6 during one of Amazon's infamous price fluctuations and it is easy to say how great it is with such a cheap price. The current price is about $20 and even then I'd say the skillet is worth it. If the price goes much higher than that I'd suggest that you consider other skillets.

Buy Hamilton Beach Nonstick Contempo Skillets Now

Good size larger skillet for the price. Only problem I have found is the handle (even with the coating on it) gets a bit hot. I use this skillet daily and so far the nonstick coating has held up. No flaking or scratches. I use it on a gas stove over medium heat and it seems to heat up pretty evenly. I would buy this skillet again.

Ikea Kavalkad Frying Pan Set of 2, Black Teflon Classic Non-stick Coating

Ikea Kavalkad Frying Pan Set of 2, Black Teflon Classic Non-stick CoatingLike most people are, I was sceptical about buying this because it was so inexpensive but I'm glad I did. I've made eggs, bacon, French toast, and a bunch of other food items in these pans and nothing will stick to them. Be very careful about the utensils you use because metal will scratch these easily (minus one star) but if you use nylon then there should be no problem. These are built sturdy also unlike a lot of other inexpensive pans. I recommend giving these a try before dropping large amounts of money on other pans.

Revere Polished Aluminum 8-Inch Nonstick Skillet

Revere Polished Aluminum 8-Inch Nonstick SkilletThis is the best frying pan I have ever had. Nothing sticks. Everything turns out perfectly. It cooks evenly. The handle is perfectly shaped and proportioned to the hand. The pan is balanced, not heavy on the side away from the handle. It is feather-light, not a heavy clunker that wears you out just lifting it. (An elderly person cares greatly about the weight of utensils, but I think all women care about that aspect as well.) It cleans up so easily, just a few wipes because nothing, absolutely nothing, sticks. I use a flexible spatula to protect the surface, of course. The size is fine for a couple of eggs with bacon, or a few fried potatoes. Don't waste your money, as I did for my entire life, on the poorly designed skillets that come with famous chefs' names or huge advertising budgets. Revere is the only one you will want if you once try it. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS ITEM. AND THE PRICE WAS REALLY EXCELLENT. I love buying from Amazon. Besides the prices, I have never been left in the lurch waiting for a product.

Works well, as expected. This is a replacement for the same pan model that served us for over 10 years. We expect the same from this one.

I have had these skillets for almost 17 years now and needed to replace this size as the finish was no longer acceptable on my current one (and may I add that I did the finish in-no flaw of the skillet.)I have had very expensive skillets and none of them were any better than these.I do wish they would offer lids for them and I wish they were still made in the good old USA.

DeLonghi BQ100 Indoor Grill and Smokeless Broiler

DeLonghi BQ100 Indoor Grill and Smokeless BroilerI love using an indoor grill and thought I was stepping up with this one.Big mistake. It doesn't grill or broil the food, it kind of sautes it.Wish I hadn't thrown the box out, I'd send it back.Very disappointed.

This is a great indoor grill!Bought for my hubby who loves to grill but not in the snow.I decided to get this model with the broiler. We rarely use the broiler, but probably because we haven't researched what all we can do with a broiler. We rarely broil anything anyway. The grill does not smoke at all, and he can get his grill lines he wants too. This does cook fast, sort of like a george foreman fast.I thought he may use this occassionally, but we use it all the time for everything during the winter.Burgers, Steak, Chicken, shrimp, veggies, and fish, etc.We always mist with Pam before to avoid sticking, as we do with our outdoor grill. As the wife, I worried it would be a pain to clean. Not at all.The grill lifts off easily and a quick rinse, suds under running water and voila clean! We store in the pantry and it is lighter than it looks. We can easily grab it and put onto our countertop for cooking.

I purchased this grill at the beginning of the year.It is perfect for a family of four or when we want to grill two packages of hot dogs for a group. The hot dogs come out just like they came off the outside grill. We use ours for burgers, steaks, fish, etc.I love it and would highly recommend. We have had no issues with the item not working properly and use it alot.

This product shows how a previously well thought of product name can fall victim to the greed of quick profits. This unit worked for all of 1 hour. The temperature control went bad and refused to heat above the warm level.Contact with the company proved a waste of time. There are no parts available for the product.

Simply replacing the control unit would have solved the problem, a simple matter, but their only approach was for me to shoulder the expense of shipping the unit to them. The cost easily exceeding the value of the unit when added on top of the initial cost.

Looking closely at the unit, the cheapness of construction was evident.I would recommend finding another brand.

Weber Q 6504 Griddle

Weber Q 6504 GriddleThe Webber Q Griddle is a must have option to the Q Grill along with the stand. It is a heavy, well made casting with a very tough finish. It easily cooks breakfast foods but will bake those canned biscuits perfectly, just lay some foil to keep from over doing the bottoms. I use it all for camping with excellent results. There's a fairly quick learning curve to figure out the best settings etc. When I get home I place the dirty griddle face down on my regular grill, close the top and crank it up and burn it off. I gently wash the residue off later. There's lots of different types of cooking you can do with the the griddle, top open or closed, generally anything that you don't want to fall thru the grill grate or be exposed to the direct flame. Don't go camping without it.

Griddle covers about 2/3 of grill's grate surface. Why so small?Leaves room togrill items (like scallops or kebobs) while you cook something needing support like fish on the griddle.good surface and seasoned easily.

Cooked up 2 pounds of bacon on this, worked good. There are little pouring lips on the corners so you can grab the whole griddle with the provided handles, scoot the bacon to one side and tilt (very much under control)pour the grease off to save for cooking other things.Quite heavy, probably about 10 lbs.We store it in the box it came in.

I was shown this product by another camper who was watching me assemble my new grill at the campground.Seems to be something of a cult following with the RV crowd with these weber Q grills.

Once he showed me the griddle, and the beer butt chicken cooker, I imedelatly had to have one.

First thing I did was get on amazon, find the best deal and ordered both.Typical Weber high quality product with the particlar design aspect that allows you to grill and griddle at the same time.Awesome for making sausage and eggs for breakfast when camping.

While the entry cost into the Q system is a little steep, I wish I had purchsed these products years ago as I now understand why they are well liked and prevalent with the RV crowd.

The beer butt chicken holder is a must have as well.

Tramontina Gourmet Cast Iron Covered Braisers

Tramontina Gourmet 4 Quart Cast Iron Covered Braiser, Red EnamelI am novice cook and I am familiar with using ceramic lined cast iron cookware, in fact I love them if not for their high price.Found this wonderful Braiser at Target that I can substitute as a wok and a skillet!I am willing to look over the difference in red color hue; this is only a tat more red in comparison to my Le Creuset dutch oven to make it a set.

Good thing about cast iron is, you only need to turn up the heat to the maximum of medium! The lid is heavy and does not wobble at boiling temperature.A good sign of a quality product worthy as heirloom pots; to be pass down to next generation, if there is such a label.Overall, a versatile cooking "pot" that is good value for you money. If you are allowed only 1 cooking pot, you won't go wrong with this!

It passed my fried rice test (not a lot of nasty charred rice crust at the bottom) and also passed my meat test.I pan fried a chicken breast with 1 tsp of vegetable oil to a nice golden brown!Stir frying of vegetables is a little trickier though.Unless you like your vegetables a little al dente, then this is good, otherwise the vegetables tend to overcook!I had this Braiser/wok for just 1 week, thus I still need time to fine tune my cooking time for vegetables.

Have purchased many LaCrueset pans for years. They are good, but have found that less expenses pans work just as well. This is one on them.

West Bend 72215 Electric Extra-Deep Oblong 12-by-15-Inch Nonstick Skillet

West Bend 72215 Electric Extra-Deep Oblong 12-by-15-Inch Nonstick SkilletIf you know anything about non stick electric fry pans, you know they usually have two things in common, 1. they only heat where the heating coil is in the bottom, resulting in uneven heating, then that area wears out, creating a permanent sticky ring in the bottom of the fryer that peels, bubbles, and burns everything. 2. they have notoriously LOW sides making their usefulness very limited. This West Bend 72215 Electric nonstick skillet addresses those very issues. First of all, you'll get even heating and the non stick is very durable. Second, the pan is OBLONG and has EXTRA DEEP sides! The shape and size makes it very much more versatile than any other electric fry pan you may have tried. And at under fifty dollars, it is a steal! I like to use a pan like this to avoid heating up the kitchen (OR having to clean the stove!) in the Summer, and at the Cabin. Grab one, you won't be disappointed!

love using electric skillets but found out this one doesn't keep its nonstick coating on...very disappointing...seeing that I do not want to be eating it in my food...I thought maybe plastic utensils were gouging it & turned to just silicone spatulas...but it didn't matter...more&more coating is coming off no matter what I do...Also like the other review said it does heat up to really hot & then it shuts off...Ive had it for 6 months now & use it once or twice a week...I like the size & the depth of the pan..wish it wasn't so flaky..

This skillet has some major shortcomings. It has VERY thin sidewalls which results in a significant uneven distribution of heat. One has to consistently move food to get it to cook evenly. The thin sidewalls also do not hold the heat. While cooking, the skillet cycles through getting extremely hot then shuts off and stops cooking. It seems unable to even remotely hold a constant temperature.I use a skillet for a lot of my cooking but this one is literally unusable.

I have to really wonder about any good reviews on this product. We were "gifted" this skillet for a 10 year employment anniversary gift where my husband works. I researched the gift options and chose this in spite of poor reviews. I lowered my expectations and hoped for the best. I guess I didn't lower them enough.

I used it for the first time today frying up some chicken tenders. I figured that would give an an idea about the heating, seeing how each piece turned out. The only good thing about this skillet is it's size (I was able to lay out 10 tenders at once), but that falls way short as it just means more food to cook unevenly or burn. The heating in this skillet is anything but even. Very hot at the source and cooler on the other end and all kinds of temp differences in between. One of the last pieces to go in was starting to burn before it was time to turn the first piece which never really got a good brown on it at all. (it was right next to the other piece) Some were crispy and most weren't. That's not counting the overcooked ones.

As far as the structure, it does as other reviewers say, have very thin walls around it. As I was cleaning it and handling it I could feel a slight give in the side wall. The ends are so close to the handles that you can't get anything in between to clean there if you get something spilled over the edge. And as for the tilt leg... What tilt leg? I never could find it after seriously trying to figure that out. The legs are part of the one solid piece of plastic on each end that is the handle. Nothing moves to tilt anything. Of course that could just be me. I mean this thing being so high tech it was probably over my head to figure it out.

Don't waste your time on this skillet... it's NOT worth the money.

Like other reviews have pointed out, this is a large, heavy, solid pan.

That said, it's definitely worth it. It heats very evenly (make sure to pre-heat for a few minutes and use some real oil/butter, not the aerosol stuff), cleans up well (polish with Bon Ami if desired never use steel wool) and feels like it's been forged of one continuous piece of metal (unlike other pans where cheap rivets make the handle attachment wobbly).

This has become my go-to pan for most stove-top tasks. Admittedly it's a tad big for some small jobs (a single fried egg looks comically tiny), but that's no reason not to buy.

This purchase has made me want to get more pieces from the CIA Masters Collection I like the brand better than All-Clad for both performance and price. FYI, this also comes in a 10" version and both sizes are available with a nonstick coating.

Tip: If you want to move this pan one-handed when it's laden with food, you can grab close to where handle is attached and brace it against your forearm (the handle's curve and size makes it feel like it was designed for this). While not as easy as using both hands and the helper handle, it's a good way to muscle things about.

Pan is heavy, and needs the auxiliary handle. It heats well and evenly on low heats. We bought this for specific use on a glass top range. I am not a large person, and found that I can pick up the skillet with my left hand, the trick being to use the heighth and length of the handle against my forearm for support.I can transport it to the table that way, serving with my free hand.I believe it was great value for the money.

I bought this hoping to make this my go-to pan for most dishes. It distributes the heat pretty well, cooking my chicken cutlets nicely even up on the edge.Sears pretty well not losing much heat from a cold piece of meat.My problem is that I have a glass top stove, and after about 4-5 uses it developed a warp where the center of the bottom bumped out just enough so that the pan now spins like a top when set on my glass cooking surface.Urrgh!I didn't think I abused it by dousing it in cold water too quickly, but I don't know...must have.I thought the 7 layers helped match the thermal expansion so this wouldn't happen, but no.Don't buy this unless you are ridiculously careful with the cold water wash or don't have a flat cooking surface.

This is one of those times I should have checked out the product in person prior to purchasing. It's a great saute pan, and cooks very evenly. However, it is so heavy it is difficult to lift, even with the "helper handle". Still love it though.
