Electric Skillet with Lid

Electric Skillet with LidAmazons seller, this is twice as much as I paid for mine at Bed Bath and Beyond, they sell it for $40 and with a 20 percent off coupon...it was a great deal!! I love this skillet, it's large and the sides are nice and tall, very easy to clean, temperature control...can't go wrong!

I looove my skillet. I've had it for a while now and so far it's worked very well. I've had it for a lil over a year now and I've made all kinds of meals on it and it's still working just like it was new. Luv it!

I purchased this for my Mom for her birthday and she loves it.It's a nice size as well as nice quality.

UPDATE:

I purchased this grill for my Mom for her birthday and she was pleased with how big it was so I decided to also purchase one for myself from Cuccinabella. THAT was a BIG mistake purchasing from them! My grill looked new but the thermostat plug obviously wasn't new! The box for the thermostat had oil on both ends AND the unit had a ding in it where you adjust the temp, not to mention the plug-in part was all discolored from being used. Upon receiving and opening the box I was very upset and contacted seller as well as Amazon to report this and requested a full refund as well as them to pay for the return shipping costs.

The company wrote me back the next day stating "I am sorry to hear that. We normally ask for pictures of the item to see who was in charged of packing it the condition but we trust you are being honest so I just went ahead and issue your refund you should see it back to your card that you used to pay for the grill in 1 day. As far as the grill as a token for our mistake we will let you keep it. Again sorry for the inconvenience, we noticed that you bought another grill from us before so we wouldnt want to lose you as a customer for this mistake. Please keep the grill as a token for our mistake".

I thought that was an honest attempt from the company to right a wrong. That was until the seller got caught trying to deceive me on only paying me $35 and not the TAXES and SHIPPING/HANDLING fees associated with the purchase. Total purchase cost of item, taxes, and s/h came to $51.89. Since they had to refund me yesterday for the full amount, I received a UPS mailer from them this morning now wanting the item returned. I just want to make others aware of the bad business practices, order at your own risk!

Rachael Ray Porcelain Enamel II Nonstick Cookware Set, 10-Piece

Rachael Ray Porcelain Enamel II Nonstick 10-Piece Cookware Set, Orange Gradient ()They cook evenly. Pretty sturdily made with with rivets and they are lightweight without being flimsy. Easy to clean. Bottom of pans did not distort when heated. The padded handles for the lids and the pots are a sort of rubber or silicone which make for easy gripping and are cool to the touch (especially for the lids unlike metal handles). The colors are fun. The color is a an orange gradient that mutes the brightness of the orange color.

Why not a five star rating? I would like to see the layer of non-stick material to be thicker for more durability, but note that the pots and pans do come with a lifetime guarantee.

Good value for the money.

Also, note that these pots are not recommended for glass top stoves (per manual) as the ceramic bottom of the cookware could melt to the glass top.

()An attractive cookware set that covers the basics. The well-made pans offer a good cooking foundation, but are a little too lightweight.

I've been cooking elaborately for years and have used a wide variety of kitchen gear.Like most seasoned cooks, I have my favorite pans and pan-types, and habits in how I use them.I was pleased to see several of my "usual" sizes included in this set, including the 3qt saute pan, the 6qt dutch-oven style stockpot, and the 10" skillet. The 2qt saucepan is adequate, though I usually prefer a 2.5qt.The sides of the saute pan are high enough to stir a thick pasta sauce, the stockpot has a wide enough base to allow meat to brown.

The one omission is a heavy-bottomed 12" skillet, something I use regularly for frying and searing.

Less useful is the 1qt saucepan-there's not much I'd make in a 1qt that wouldn't be fine in the 2qt, and the 8.5" skillet is too small to be useful-it's fine if you want to fry an egg, or saute garlic (or a single shallot) separately, but I prefer to do that in the larger pan with the rest of the ingredients, the better to meld the flavors (and to have fewer dishes to wash). Most things that you would sear, toast, or saute will benefit from being in contact with the pan's cooking surface, making a small surface area less useful. But four (out of 6) useful pans is a much better ratio than most sets.

Caveats:Unlike my Calphalon pans, the handles on these are only rated oven-safe to 350F (rather than a more useful 450-500F ceiling). After 3 months use on a glass-top electric range, the 10" skillet (the piece I've been using most) has dark mars on the bottom (bad if you hang/display your pans).

The largest caveat is that these pans are entry-level thin. They do heat up quickly, but the thinness makes them bad for cooking dishes where the pan temperature needs to stay low-but-even, or where you're going to be adding cold items to the hot pan (eg, searing-these are far too thin to retain heat when you plop down a New York Strip).

For the beginner cook who doesn't have their own preferences or existing collection, this is a nice set to get them started, and it look nice too-a good choice for a gift. This 10-piece set is a bit expensive (versus other entry-level sets) and has a couple of "filler" pieces, but is a well-rounded package.Recommended with caveats.

UPDATE NOV 2012: These pans continue to hold up surprisingly well after a year of solid usage, and I've grown increasingly fond of them, so increasing my rating from 4 stars to 5 stars. The outer surfaces have gotten discolored/stained from such regular usage but the interiors remain flawless, and I find I reach for these pans more often than some of my heavier old-school pans.

I have had this set for almost a year.We use them every day. They look beautiful hanging in my kitchen and they just make cooking a little more fun. They have held up perfectly.I have a glass top stove so I was a little concerned when I read in the manual that they arent ideal for that type of stove, but I have never had an issue.

They are light in weight, but not in durability. They clean up easily and beautifully.I have used an SOS pad on the outside and it doesnt scratch. I have also found them in the dishwasher when my children have to clean the kitchen and they have remained scratch free. They actually look almost as good as the day I bought them!I am now ordering sets for my friends for Christmas!

I used some points from my credit card company to purchase this cookware set but wasn't completely sold on the orange color. A year later I am so glad that I didn't let the color keep me from getting this set. The one downside is that they are not dishwasher safe. On the other hand the nonstick works so well that it is effortless to wash these by hand. I have made sure to use utensils that won't scrach the coating, but these work great for everyday use. In the very distant future if I have to replace this set, I will definately buy again.

I received this set in green for Christmas this past year from my husband. I have some other RR products and I really liked them so he thought he was picking a good gift for me, however he didn't know they would leak! The pans leak where they are riveted together at the handle. Every time I make something in them it leaks out. It also happens when I wash them. (I know you can put them in the dishwasher, but I never put pots and pans in the dishwasher!)I was really disappointed in the quality of the item. I would have returned them, but before I used them I through the box and all the invoices away. I guess I learned to keep all receipts!

Paderno Heavy Duty Carbon Steel Frying Pans

Paderno Heavy Duty Carbon Steel 8 Inch Frying PanMy husband is an Alton Brown (Food Network) fan. Alton said that carbon steel pans were great so I decided to get one for my husband.I bought a Paderno Heavy Duty Carbon Steel Frying Pan, World Cuisine brand from Amazon and a Matfer brand Black Steel Omelet Pan from another retailer. The Matfer Black Steel Pan was more expensive.More expensive is usually better. It wasn't better. I conditioned both pans in an identical process according to the three step conditioning recommendations that I found online--(oil, heat in oven, wipe out with paper towels and lots of salt to get the stickiness out; oil, heat on the stovetop, wipe with paper towels and no salt; oil, heat on stovetop, fry potato peelings).I even repeated the potato cooking process a second time, switching burners because there was an enormous difference in quality and I didn't want to dislike an expensive new pan when the fault might have been my stovetop.By the time I was done with the potatoes, I could tell a huge difference. The potatoes in the Paderno/World Cuisine pan were crispy on both sides, they didn't stick to the pan at all and they were of the quality of what you could expect at a restaurant. In the Matfer Black Steel Omelet pan that I bought from a different website, the potatoes got a little crispy and then proceeded to get mushy. No matter how long I cooked them, which burner I cooked them on or how high the heat was, they just became mushier and lost their texture, whereas the potatoes in the Paderno/World Cuisine Carbon Steel pan got crispier with more cooking but didn't burn. The potatoes stuck to the Matfer Black Steel Pan in spots and I had to scrape it to get the potatoes off of the pan.The Paderno/World Cuisine Pan didn't stick at all, like a teflon pan.Another thing I noticed was that the Matfer Black Steel pan seemed to concentrate its heat in a 4" radius in the center, whereas the Paderno/World Cuisine carbon steel pan spread the heat out evenly.I look forward to using the Paderno pan and will probably not use the Matfer black steel pan very often.

I am a big fan of these carbon steel pans. They season much the same as cast iron pans and need to be taken care of in the same manner as cast iron.Once they are nicely seasoned they are virtualy non-stick.They distribute heat very rapidly and evenly and work well on any burner surface from gas to induction glass top. They are perfect for sticking into the oven or running something under the broiler. The big advantage over cast iron is the long handle that makes them much easier to lift and handle, these pans are heavy, and the shape with the rounded sides.

If you screw up the seasoning by burning something, simply run the pan through a cycle of a self cleaning oven. All the accumulated grease and crud will come off, rinse off and carefully dry.The pan will be as new and will need to be re-seasoned much as a brand new pan. With a minum of care these pans last a lifetime.

Do not confuse these pans with much less expensive and much lighter weight French style steel pans. Those heat unevenly and get hot spots.

I've been around enough chefs in my life to know that "carbon steel" equals "Hardcore" in the kitchen, from pans to knives, etc. But it was only recently that I decided to go Hardcore in the pan department, having been a bit intimated by the seasoning and maintenance responsibilities. Not sure why, since I've had my trusty cast iron pans for years, and the commitment is pretty much the same. The Paderno 12.5" has become an almost mystical object in our kitchen. It really seems to have a certain magical property with proteins in particular. Seared at high heat, and then thrown into the oven, steaks, burgers, pork tenderloin, salmon, etc. come out just amazing. This pan also seems to have a particular affinity for eggs, and makes truly profound omelets. This size is quite large and hefty, and I plan on adding a smaller size or two, but it serves well for dinner for two, with ample room for dinner for four. As for the anxiety over seasoning and maintenance, it was all for naught. Wash it, dry it, rub it with oil, and give it some time in the oven. Don't cook anything particularly liquid or acidic in it right away, reserving it for animal proteins / fats during it's initiation. It soon develops a miraculous non-stick, easy clean surface that will have you suspecting some sort of witchcraft. Beats the pants off *non-stick* environmentally unfriendly coatings. It's also very responsive to temperature / burner change settings, allowing for very fine heat control ( I speak only for gas stoves). You can easily pay the same price for a crap non-stick pan that is destined for the land fill after a year or two of duty, Why not treat yourself to a genuine quality item, that will last virtually forever, and make you feel all Chef-like and stuff?a

This pan is very heavy duty.I bought the 12.5 inch pan.I bought it because we are getting rid of our teflon nonstick pans for good.I considered cast iron, but I did not like the rough surface the new ones have and the weight.Carbon steel pans season just like cast iron, but are extremely smooth and not as heavy. Ironically the cast iron pans our grandmother's used (Griswald especially) were lighter in weight and were very smooth, similar to this carbon steel pan.I like heavy cast iron pans, but anything over 12 inches is way too heavy especially once the pan is full of food. Tip on seasoning. wash pan well with soap and water and dry well. over high heat, heat pan until it darkens (you will have to move pan around some to get the corners and sides).Cool to medium low.Cut a potato in half and rub the cut side all around (it might smoke some).Potato starch acts like a glue which helps hold the layer of oil on the pan.If you did not do this, the layer of oil will begin to flake with repeated use. Some people will fry bacon or other food stuff, then scrape it clean and season it.Then rub a very thin film of oil in pan (I use flaxseed oil that you get at healthfood stores. And I mean thin, pretty much wipe it all out.I prefer flaxseed oil because it polymerizes extremely well) and heat for 30-40 minutes and cool.VERY IMPORTANT use a flat metal spatula and scrape the pan (not too hard, but how you would flip food in normal use. Repeat the potato rub and then the oil rub and spatula scraping to smooth the surface (high heat is not required at this point).now it is ready to useIt will look uneven for awhile, but with repeated use and repeated seasoning, it will turn jet black and have a dullish shiny surface. To clean, most things will simply wipe clean. If some food sticks, I salt the pan and use the salt as abrasive, then wipe clean.Don't be afraid to quickly use soap and water if things stick really bad, just dry it out and wipe a thin film of oil.Keep using the metal spatula!!!!!!!

These are really nicely built pans. I got the 12.5 and the 7.25 and both are great. I will say however that the 12.5 is really big and the 7.25 is about the size of one cracked egg in the bottom. If I were to do this order again I would get the next size up and down from these sizes for more average sized pans. This has nothing to do with the quality of the item. It is a very good pan.

Cuisinart TPC22-24NSP MultiClad Pro Stainless Nonstick 10-Inch Skillet

Cuisinart TPC22-24NSP MultiClad Pro Stainless Nonstick 10-Inch SkilletWow, what a great pan! It is very well made with a beautiful, glossy stainless exterior and a perfect teflon interior. The handle is a sexy, polished stainless casting that feels great and is riveted firmly to the body.

This pan heats very evenly and is like magic for a two-egg omlette. I have produced only moist and tender omlettes with this pan. I've used many omlette pans including a stainless All Clad and some non-stick commercial pans and this one...is almost like magic. I thought I was jaded and could not be suprised what a delight.

This is a real bargain. Buy and use this beauty with confidence.

These pans are so wonderful for cooking with, you really need two.

I started with one, but I used it so much, I kept pulling it out of the dishwasher.

I bought a second one at the clearance price.

I was just thrilled there were still some left.

I also recomend you buy the Farberware 10" lid sold on Amazon.

Either the glass or the stainless one will fit this pan.

You rarely find this kind of quality in stainless steel non-stick but to find it in tri-ply and at this price is almost unreal.I bought one of these and promptly bought two more. They heat every bit as evenly as my All Clad stainless, the handle stays cool and clean up is a snap.My husband loves this pan as he had trouble with things sticking when using our All Clad.I can't recommend this highly enough.I'd love to see a larger one. This pan would be a bargain at twice the price.Buy them for gifts too!

Having recently started doing the Atkins diet, breakfasts in our house now usually involve cooking eggs of some type. Our old pans started sticking (a MAJOR problem for me), so I went looking for the ultimate skillet.

My criteria?A pan that would have outstanding non-stick properties, have solid feel, conduct heat evenly and well, would clean up easily, and if it looked good, so much the better.Fully expecting to pay dearly for an All Clad-type pan when I started looking, was pleasantly surprised to find this Cuisinart pan available for < $$$.I took a chance and I'm VERY glad I did!

The non-stick surface works wonders, heat conduction is even and efficient, the pan is not heavy and not light. It's got excellent balance... just feels right in my hands and on the stove. The handle feels terrific and stays cool. Have been using this pan at least daily for the past 5 weeks. It's performed flawlessly. As a plus, it looks good and cleans up easily.

The sides have a more abrupt taper than some pans, but it's not a concern... just something others should be aware of when shopping.

The size is perfect for one to two person dishes.

Overall, this pan has exceeded all of my expectations. It's a useful kitchen tool that works the way it's suppopsed to.Very highly recommended!

This is the best non-stick skillet I've owned, period. I've purchased others and tossed them out after only a few months. I never use any sprays or oils with this skillet and everything browns evenly. Now, keep in mind this isn't the pan for deep frying, but it's perfect for browning breakfast foods and other items that do not require extra fat or oil. Non-stick pans should never visit the dishwasher... hand wash and dry. Easy! Always start the pan on medium heat because high heat isn't necessary and may damage the non-stick surface. The pan is ready to cook in only a couple of minutes.

I probably shouldn't review this, as I have never made a cake. But I used to watch my mom make cakes, and she had stainless steel pans, which she would have to make several extra layers, she made great cakes, and often would make them for the church to sell or auction off.So they had to be pretty.Of course this meant I got to eat the ones that broke when they wouldn't come out of the pan.Fortunately for me, this happened quite often, but the downside was she hated to make cakes because of this problem, had to do a lot of extra work making extra batter that would not end up in one piece after cooking. So if she had some of these, i might have actually gotten more homemade cake.

I bought myself one of these, I have a lot of Circulon and really like it, but also have some clad pans I inherited from my mom.

But so far, I have mostly used it for cornbread.Since I live by myself, I cut the recipe down and it comes out pretty thin, so I did find that when making a regular size recipe, the cornbread falls right out, but when it is very thin, I butter the pan.It cleans up really easily, but I cook my cornbread at 450 degrees, so it will stick a bit.But the thick ones still just fall out.The pans are very thick and pretty heavy and coated with the hard anodized coating which stays put, and is all over the pan, top and bottom. The inside bottom edges are rounded which helps the stuff pop out.My son is the big cook in the family and I bought him a set of these, in order to encourage him to make cakes.Of course he can use them for brownies as well. And cornbread! But a high quality product, should last for a long time.

Bayou Classic 7400, 4-Qt. Cast Iron Dutch Oven with Dutch Oven Lid

Bayou Classic 7400, 4-Qt. Cast Iron Dutch Oven with Dutch Oven LidThis Dutch oven was simply a disappointment. From the savagely dented box to the very lack of any packing materials what so ever, it was no wonder this poorly cast piece of iron arrived with a large gapping crack down the side. Its not clear weather this happened during manufacture or shipping but never the less, I won't stray from Lodge again.

This oven is typical quality of cast iron cookware I already have.Basic, not fancy. It is a heavy and solid piece, the cover fits snugly. Like the other cast iron pans I have, I think this will be used a very long time.
