Scanpan Classic Fry Pans

Scanpan Classic 8-Inch Fry PanI've owned several Scanpan products. This fry pan, an 8-inch fry pan and a sauce pan. All stick after being used for a while. After I had problems with the first one I talked to the store I bought it from and to Scanpan. They said to use lower heat and don't use cooking sprays. I followed those instructions with the next pan I bought and still had problems. I also tried the "restore" method mentioned in the manual using the steel wool that was included with the pan without any success.

When they were new they were great, but once they started sticking, they were worse than a regular pan without a non-stick coating. Plus the sellers won't back them up. I tried to return mine under their "Lifetime" warranty, none of the stores selling them would take them back without talking to the distributor first. The distributor never returned my phone calls. Also a major consumer testing magazine that originally gave these a high rating retracted that rating after getting bad feedback from owners. You can read back issues in your library.

(This review was for another Scanpan product but was combined by Amazon with the 10-1/4" fry pan.)

We got a large sauce pan, 1 small and 1 medium size fry pans.

I was very excited the first time we got our Scanpans. I read about the new technology surrounding this product that supposedly to be non-stick for many years. Now, we only have the big sauce pan left. We have to throw away the 2 frying pans.

To give it some credit, they lasted a couple of years before it started to peel off (actually not peeling off like a teflon. It starts to have some tiny holes on the surface which grows in size as you use it. Then finally when we see the metal base, we got worried that pieces of those non-stick surface gets to our food that we decided it's time to get rid of it). The non-stick properties starts to wear off before it lasted a year.

Pros:

-heavy and thick to distribute heat evenly

-Handles are oven resistant so you can actually use it to cook in the oven

-Well made, great construction. Durable.

Cons:

-Not as non-stick as teflon. And non-stick properties continue to deteriorates as you use it. Approximately a year.

-Not a good value. For the price, it should last much longer.

-Not for induction cooking.

I really liked the idea of non stick that could brown and didnt scratch. And it worked great-for 2 months. Then I noticed little bubbles.I called the company and the surly customer service person said that I would need to ship the pan to them, they would take a look at it and then if they deemed it a manufacturing problem-they would replace it.Of course I had to pay to ship my old pan, the new pan, and a handling charge.Forget it.My cheap nonstick cookware lasted longer than the scan pan.

Well, I did not check the reviews on this cookware before I bought it. I was impressed with the advertising and I bought THE ENTIRE COLLECTION!The saucepans have a few nicks, nothing that bad, but the fry pans did not last past the 2 years. Each fry pan has lost it's nonstick quality. I can still see it around the upper rim, but the inside surfaceof each pan isbald! Now it looks like any other pan that food "sticks" to.

At the price I paid, I feel like I was taken to the cleaners!

My new scanpan is great! Before purchasing this pan I was wondering if there would ever be a real solution for nonstick cooking, but at last, here it is.Teflon, although great for nonstick, has a limited lifespan. Thispan maintains its nonstick ability, yet DOESN'T peel!It cleans easily,I've followed the manufacturers instructions and have never had to scrub. This means carmalized onions, and, the all time sticker, eggs. The flatbottom distributes the heat evenly and works great on my glass top stove. No more need for scorching heats either, I've never had to use high heatsto cook things properly. Simply stated, this is a great pan, get one if youlove to cook.

Calphalon Unison Nonstick 13-Inch Flatbottom Wok with Lid

Calphalon Unison Nonstick 13-Inch Flatbottom Wok with LidI've owned several woks through the years with various coatings, not coated(cast iron) and this is the most durable trouble free wok I've owned. I've used it for high temp stir fry, searing, sauces and recipes that require finishing up in the oven. I followed the directions on the first seasoning and care instructions and have not had any finish degradation at all. I'm very happy with this pan as I head into the 2nd year of ownership.

I had a cheap wok several years ago everything stuck and it was miserable to cook with.So I was litlle skeptical that this wok would be any different --I was pleasantly surprised.I have used it a number of time with fabulous results. The non-stick surface is great!

I highly recommend being careful about the oil you use --I typically cook with EVO, but for high temp cooking, use something like peanut oil.Stirfrys turn out resturant quality!I am particularly pleased with the see-through lid perfect for steaming or watching quick-cookingitems.Amazon offers one of the best prices that I've seen for Caphalon, too. Great product.

This wok is absolutely fantastic.I completed a cooking class in Thailand and while sitting by the pool with Ipad I ordered this wok so it would be waiting for me when I arrived back home to USA.This WOK is genius. It has taken my cooking up a few notches.Heating is even.Non-stick is fantastic as always. Before buying this WOK I paused at the comments here about scratching non-stick.Turns out of course to be a non issue if you are used to non-stick (e.g. use Silicon spatulas and use a sponge to clean).Six months later surface of WOK is absolutely pristine.I will add one comment on this topic the glass lid if you are not careful CAN contact the surface of WOK and leave a scratch. However I have yet to find a use for the glass lid on a WOK.Whatever.This WOK has changed my cooking life. Not only are my Thai dishes made to perfection but I use the WOK for eggs, hamburgers, bacon all turn out great.

It is non-stick alright. However, the interior coating is easily scratched but using nylon spatula. I sent mine in for a replacement. The new one I received has exactly the same problem. It leads me to believe that the whole product line has the same quality. I would recommend for a $17 14" Carbon Steel Wok from Walmart. It is non-stick when seasoned correctly. I've been using one for three months now and it is very nice. I owned at least two sets of Calphalon cookware. Both are their high end product lines. The quality is going downhill and the price remains high.

8-Inch ECLIPSE Nonstick Aluminum Frying Pan, Fry Pan, Saute Omelette Pan, Commercial Grade - NSF Ce

8-Inch ECLIPSE Nonstick Aluminum Frying Pan, Fry Pan, Saute Omelette Pan, Commercial Grade - NSF CertifiedThis is a good, solid aluminum saute pan with a tough non-stick coating. It works great. So why only 3 stars? Because the handle is awful. It's just a flat slab of aluminum that feels clumsy in your hand and, because it's the same metal as the pan, it gets just as hot as the pan. You cannot touch it while cooking without a potholder.

S.S 11 INCH SQUARE GRIDDLE"

S.S 11 INCH SQUARE GRIDDLE'I looked at a lot of different skillets before finally deciding to purchase this one.I am very pleased with my purchase of this pan.4 slices of bread for grilled cheese or french toast, fit nicely into it, pancakes flip easily and it works good for meat and other foods too.I wanted to get away from a coated skillet and was first thinking of cast iron.I don't really like the heavy weight of cast iron though and I like my other stainless steel cookware pots that I own. This skillet is a nice sturdy weight and make.It cleans up easily and with the low sides it is good for easily flipping food. I would definitely recommend it.In the small photo the side edges look crimped or something. This is just the photo reflections as they are smooth and well made.

I have been looking all over for one of these because I was so tired for spending money on coated griddles that are not supposed to scratch and then finding that they eventually do. I have found that nothing beats stainless over a low flame. Trick is to make sure it is really clean with a powder stainless cleaner and to use a heat diffuser. The few extra minutes of care is well worth the effort involved. No chance of eating micro pieces of the coating and better results. Amazom comes through again for me. Thank you!

I have been looking for a griddle for my induction cooktop for over 2 years.I originally thought I wanted a multi-burner griddle, but after reading reviews decided to go for a single. This fits well over my larger burner and works like a charm, although I have to watch it because it cooks so quickly. The handle does not get hot.Cleans like a charm.Definitely recommend!

This is a thick and sturdy griddle. It is somewhat heavy (which I find a good thing), but not as heavy as cast iron. The griddle has a nice polished finish all over and is easy to clean. It is also compatible with induction stove-tops. Mine had some minor defects such as a rough spot on the edge and a slight discoloration on the side, but it's hardly noticeable. I think I'll just enjoy the positive aspects of this cookware, as a return for such petty marks do not seem worth it at the time. It certainly is a nice-looking piece.

Coleman 12-Inch Steel Non-Stick Fry Pan

Coleman 12-Inch Steel Non-Stick Fry PanBought this because I wanted a fold up handle for packing. The light weight and folding handle packed into the camp kitchen very well. The folding handle is sturdy and the the small opposing handle is nice. But I could not rate this higher because the non-stick material is delicate and not very non-stick.After one weekend camping trip, there were scratches thru the non-stick coating.I will use it until the non-stick surface deteriorates, but it will be replaced by frying pan with a regular surface.

I bought this for my annual camping trip and was very excited when I received it.It was nice and large, and the folding handle was a cool feature...made for easy packing. But my excitement wore off the very first time I used it.I lit up the camping stove and started cooking some scrambled eggs.It seemed fine at first, but as it heated up the middle became extremely hot and there didn't seem to be good heat distribution.I stirred the eggs using a soft silicon spatula (no metal at all), but the non-stick surface in the middle still started chipping off.So after just one quick use, the inside of the pan was already missing some coating and the bottom was also heavily scratched from sitting on the stove.I'm be throwing this pan away and looking for something else for next year's trip.

See title. The folding handle is nice, the size is convenient, and the extra handle is a good feature, but all the extras in the world don't make a pan advertised as non-stick fulfill its most basic function. It's also too thin to spread heat properly the middle gets hot much faster than the rest, and if you're cooking something you can't stir (like fried eggs), food in the center burns (and sticks) while the edges stay raw. I'm very disappointed and will have to replace this skillet soon, which is sad and needlessly expensive.

This makes a great camping skillet. Handle folds for easy packing and it's not too heavy. We also use it at home sometimes because it's light, non-stick, and with handle folded it doesn't take up as much room as a traditional skillet.

Paderno World Cuisine 7-7/8-Inch Stainless Steel Ceramic Coated Frying Pan

Paderno World Cuisine 7-7/8-Inch Stainless Steel Ceramic Coated Frying PanI was searching all over for the right non-stick pan for my mother. She wanted one that was PFOA-free so that no toxic fumes would be released at any time when cooking nor toxic mojo getting into her food. The other challenge was getting one that was small enough for my mom to lift and use with one hand. She's slightly built and has arthritis and she didn't want Teflon or any similar PFOA-containing pan after all that we have read and learned about the damage those pans can do. There was even a report on the local news in the past month about a family whose two 30+ year old McCaw parrots died when they cleaned their oven because the oven had the PFOA coating inside. There's a reason why they used to use canaries in coal mines canaries die BEFORE you do. That being said, my mother has reported that the pan is the perfect size. She's able to fry an egg, make a tiny omelet, or cook any small portion in there and it is indeed very non-stick and very easy to clean. Suffice to say, it's a hit.

Received as scheduled and I am very satisfied with the pan.Have tried fried eggs, omelettes, etc., and the pan performs as advertised.I like the ceramic coating it beats the usual Teflon or similar material. The fried eggs I am referring to above slid off and on as if there was some cooking oil added to the pan which was not.Very satisfied with it.

This looked like a nice pan for the 5 minutes I had it. I ordered it because it says it is made of stainless steel and I bought an induction "burner" and this pan to go with it. Turns out that the pan is aluminum which won't work with the burner. Amazon sent the return form and it is on it's way back unopened and unused.

Lodge Seasoned Finish 10-1/2-Inch Cast Iron Round Griddle

Lodge Seasoned Finish 10-1/2-Inch Cast Iron Round GriddleI am a great fan of cast iron cookware and have quite a few pieces. The 10-1/2 in. round griddle is my first by Lodge however, I just happened to see it on sale and bought it.Although I think the overall quality is good, I soon realized the handle was much too short.I do not have large hands (I'm 5'8" and 145 lbs. male) yet handling the pan is really awkward especially if the handle or my hand is wet (forget soapy). In fact I have a couple of 10-1/2 in. skillets (not Lodge nor both the same brand) that even though they are heavier they are much easier to handle because they weren't so stingy with the amount of material used for the handle.

I bought this griddle barely three weeks ago.I didn't really need it, but I thought the price at the time was a bargain ($9.99), and I needed something else around $10 to avoid the dreaded S/H charge.

I have been using cast iron for a long time and still have my firstcast iron skillet that has seen it's share of trials and tribulations over a 20 year period, including bouts in the dishwasher from a roommate who was clueless about any type of cookware. All I had to do was reseason it and it was restored.

I like cast iron because it gets really hot and retains heat, and lasts forever. This griddle is no exception.I already have a pizza stone, but I had a recipe that featured baking the pizza in cast iron cookware, and I wanted to try it so I made it on the griddle. The results were spectacular. The crust browned evenly on the bottom and was nice and crispy, and I cut it and served right from the griddle. The griddle is also perfect for making biscuits.Preheat the pan in the oven for about 10 minutes, then place the biscuits on it and bake as usual.Baking the biscuits on the preheated griddle, makes the bottoms crispy.

I have also used the griddle for grilled cheese, panini's (using the grill press) and quesadilla's.All, in all, I think this is a great piece of cookware that makes a nice addition to my collection of cast iron.I own several pieces of Lodge cookware and have never had any problems like cracking, warping, or twisting.Someone mentioned in an earlier review that the griddle was starting to "discolor" after only 3 uses. It's supposed to "discolor."It goes from its orignial factory finish gray, to hues of brown and eventually coal black with repeated use.

The more you use cast iron, the better it gets.If you use it daily, it will turn black quicker than if you use it on occasion.I still have pieces that I have had in excess of 5 years that are still not black.Since I only use those pieces occasionally, that's to be expected.

I first saw this griddle at a friend's house. We used it to make crepes, and the results were absolutely perfect. Subsequently I've been using mine to grill panini, brown chicken breasts until golden, slowly sizzle perfect salmon filets, and turn out beautifully done steaks and chops. It even works well in the oven to finish cooking a beef or pork tenderloin. Note, I am a serious cast-iron cookware devotee, and I like utensils and tools that are multi-taskers. This griddle fits that bill and stays busy on my stove. Perfect for one person or a couple.

KitchenAid Hard Anodized Nonstick 9-Inch and 11-1/2-Inch Skillet Twin Pack

KitchenAid Hard Anodized Nonstick 9-Inch and 11-1/2-Inch Skillet Twin PackWell, I'm sorry to say that my Emeril pans from Calphalon finally failed. You know, the non-stick flakes off and adds that extra burst of chemicals to your food?!So, I bought this set and have been very thrilled with them.I do need to mention that the exterior is quite thin, thus making them very bendable which I think is quite weird for Kitchenaid.Yes, I am a Kitchenaid gal and love most of their products. The core in these is just excellent perfectly cooked food every time and nothing ever burns even on a cheap stove! Very, very pleased and they're cheap enough so that if they do decide to check out on me, they're easily replaced.Highly recommend!

These are very well made pans. They have a very hard teflon like surface.Nothing sticks! They are fantastic. This is my first time using the anodized cookware and I am sold on them.I want to add more to my kitchen. The old type surfaces begin to flake off after a short time.I was concerned about the health hazards from foods being cooked on these flaking surfaces.I usually had to replace my pans after only a year.I hope to get a lot more time out of this cookware. The handles on the pans are shaped to be comfortable in your hand and do not get hot.So, no potholder needed.

I love these!Got them as a gift and couldn't be more pleased.

This is the first set of frying pans I have purchased with the hard anodized coating. I was tired of the Teflon coated pans flaking and going bad. Evenhigh dollar Calphalon pan I bought only lasted a year before the coating was destroyed. I think this hard anodizing might be the solution for longevity.

The set has a nice feel with the rubberized handles and the pans feel decently well built and rugged. If I get 2 years out of them, it will be an improvement over the last few.

the pans are great, but they don't have enough flat space. The 11 1/2 inch pan only has 8 inches of flat bottom. That means that if I have a fish fillet that is over 8", I have to cut it to in into smaller pieces to make it fit in this pan.It is not possible to cook as much as I want of anything that requires direct connection with the pan surface.Otherwise, I love it.The non-stick coating is terrific. You can fry and egg with no oil and it will slide right out.

Lodge Logic L5IC3 Cast Iron Lid, 8-inch

Lodge Logic L5IC3 Cast Iron Lid, 8-inchThe 8" Lodge skillet isgreat little pan as you probably know. After purchasing it I decided I wanted to add the lid and did so, but there are a couple things you might consider in such a purchase:

1)What was an economical cast iron pan ballooned into almost $30 for the combo. While cast iron devotees probably won't find this a problem, others might want to consider that a lot of excellent stainless lined aluminum 8" pans come with lids and are available forless. In the overall scheme of things thirty bucks isn't a lot of money, but it does cast the economical skillet in a different light when you complete your purchase with the lid.

2)Unlike other Lodge lids, the 8" model doesn't have the "ears" necessary to cover the dual pouring lips on the skillet. This means you can lose heat and moisture when you may not want to.This is particularly odd since they cast this lid with the "drip spikes" specifically designed for moisture retention.

3)While this is somewhat subjective, the quality doesn't appear to be the same as the 10" and 12" lids I have for other Lodge products. The casting doesn't appear as smooth and the lid doesn't fit as precisely as the larger lids. I belatedly tried another 8" lid (from an All-Clad saute pan) and found it to be a better fit than this Lodge lid.

I don't have a gripe against Lodge and, as you can tell by the many glowing reviews, people here on amazon love the product line.I just thought providing some information I discovered after my purchase might help you make a moreinformed decision.

Ordered this to use with my eight-inch Lodge cast iron pan. Same quality as Lodge pans, heavy and solid. Pretty straightforwardit does the job for which it was intended and it nests upside down in the pan nicely enough to store easily.

I do wonder why lids cost more than pans, but given none of the Lodge pans and lids are very expensive, especially compared to other cookware with much shorter lifespans, I don't have a problem with it.

Also, kudos to Amazon for continuing to mail even heavy items without shipping charges. That policy, and responsive customer service during this period of price gouging and an enraging lack of customer service across all industries, ensures I remain a loyal customer of Amazon.com. So two thumbs-up, Amazon!

Calphalon Contemporary Stainless 10-Inch Omelet Pan

Calphalon Contemporary Stainless 10-Inch Omelet PanI own the entire set of Calphalon Contemporary and use it daily. These pans are outstanding; the heat distribution is excellent (I've checked it with a laser thermometer), it's nicely weighted and the curved sides on the pan itself are excellent when flipping contents (which makes you look quite professional, if I do say so myself).

As for the handles, the curved design makes it easy to keep the contents of the pan level when picking it up and they stay surprisingly cool during cooking. While they're long enough to give the proper leverage, they are slightly shorter than some other pans I've used. This is a tremendous benefit though I have two little girls in the house and I always point the handles inward toward the center of my cooktop; because they're slightly shorter, they don't overlap or tangle with one another.

I did notice another reviewer remark that food sticks to them and that they're hard to clean. I don't want to pick on anyone, but I suspect that the problem lies more in the cleaning and prep than the pan itself. As a general rule, stainless cookware needs a reasonable coating of fat or oil before the cooking contents are added. Even if a recipe calls for a certain amount of oil at the onset, a few drops swished around the bottom and sides of the pan before heating works wonders. Also, how you clean them is key. Like cast iron, stainless steel can actually be seasoned (oil settles into the microscopic pores of the steel) and that makes it somewhat nonstick. However, if you use a strong soap and abrasive pads to clean the pan, you eliminate the seasoning and are always starting from scratch! I find a tiny amount of soap (if any) and warm water will keep the cookware clean, smooth and low maintenance.

I have purchased many pots and pans in this collection. I have the exact pan in non-stick but wanted the stainless version. Now I've had some mishaps (tilapia) but for the most part the pan has performed extremely well.It heats up very fast and I have a ceramic cooktop. I love the feeling of cooking with out non-stick cookware. I plan on purchasing the 12 inch soon.

Frieling Frypan

Sitram 11-Inch Stainless Steel Non Stick Open FrypanThis pan is excellent.I use it primarily to cook eggs, pancakes, quesadillas, and anything else that might stick to regular pans.So far, nothing sticks to it!

One of the best features of this pan is the handle, which is the same round stay-cool handle found on other Sitram cookware. The handle is easier to hold, because it is larger than the ones you would find on Calphalon or All-Clad cookware, which I have also used.

One of the things that makes cleaing a breeze is the way the handle is connected to the pan.As with all Sitram cookware, the handle is not riveted to the pan. With Calphalon and All-Clad cookware, food can get stuck in between and around the rivets. This is helpful when cleaning, because there are no rivets.I'm not sure if Sitram's method of affixing the handle to the pan is as strong as the riveted method, but so far, I haven't had a problem.

The previous reviewer, Hal Lewis, makes a good point about the pan being "induction ready."I use a gas stove, so I haven't run into this issue. However, Sitram's website clearly states that this pan is not induction ready.

Lastly, I have to point out that this pan is not made in France like most of Sitram's other cookware. However, I have not had an issue with its build quality. The pan performs very well.I own a several pieces of Sitram's Cybernox line, which are all made in France, and this pan is very similar in its construction.

Over all, I highly recommend this product.

The Amazon description of this says it is suitable for "any cooking surface," without any restrictions, and the Sitram Web site specifically says "induction ready." So to be sure I e-mailed Sitram, and they assured me that it was indeed induction ready. Well, it is not. Aluminum and stainless steel, without the ferromagnetic material needed to work on an induction cooktop. Amazon did not explicitly misrepresent it, but Sitram did. If that doesn't matter to you, it looks like a fine pan. If it does matter, be warned not to believe what you read.

Buy Frieling Frypan Now

I was under the impression that Sitram welded their handles. This skillet has riveted handles which makes it hard to clean. Not to mention my whisk and spoons catch on the rivets when I scrape around the edge of the pan. I've never understood why anyone would want riveted handles. The welded handles on my existing cookware has lasted many years and are much easier to keep clean.
