Vintage Corning Visions Visionware Amber 10 Inch Skillet Frying Pan w/ Lid
- Vintage Corning Visions Visionware Amber 10 Inch Skillet Frying Pan w/ Lid
For cooking vegetables and items that don't stick really badly, the Visionware has been great. I use this particular pan mainly to sautee or steam vegetables and to fry bacon.
It cleans up nicely when you soak it and scrub it out with a plastic scrubber. I then place it in the dishwasher for a thorough cleaning.
I have used Visionware for about 22 years, including this frying pan. I don't know why Visions made a 10" and a 10 3/4" skillet but I have both sizes and I have several of each due to my tendancy to batch cook.
The frying pan has never failed or exploded on me.I use them once or twice a week.
However, there have been some complaints about exploding Visionware (Google is your friend).
Some incidents can be attributed to thermal shock such as running cool water in a hot pot, or placing the hot item on a cool surface, or putting the cookware on a heat source with no water in it.
Also, if you have chipped, cracked, or scratched cookware, it is recommended that you discard it.Be sure to check the tiny notches on the bottom of the pot.If there are any cracks emanating from the notches, I would advise you to discard the piece.
I would recommend carefully checking your cookware and discarding it if it is damaged.
You will want to avoid scratching it with metal utensils.

T-fal C1190264 Signature Nonstick Expert Interior Thermo-Spot Heat Indicator Dishwasher Safe 8-Inc
I LOVE the ease and convenience of these T-Fal Signature saute pans. Nothing sticks-either inside or outside! The red circle pattern in center lets you know when it is preheated before adding food. I followed the instructions before first use: wash in warm soapy water, rinse, dry, then rub inside with a little cooking oil to season. I bought 2 flexible silicone coated pancake turners to use with these saute/frypans, but I had used steel utensils in the one at my vacation home with no problems. T-Fal Signature pans are an excellent value for the price. Amazon.com gave me free shipping and very fast service on these.
There is only one thing I wish these saute pans had:lids. I was able to find suitable lids to use from old pan sets I had for years.I bought an 8" & a 10" T-Fal Signature fry pan;they're GREAT:nothing sticks, they clean up easily, have even heat distribution;couldn't have gotten a better set of pans.I had read reviews before ordering all positive &, altho they were backordered, I was willing to wait;I highly recommend these pans.
Just because they say it is 8 inches does not make it so. It is more like 6 inches. I will use it, but you get what you pay for in this instance. Not a bargain at all.
Beware, this is not an 8 inch diameter pan.. the widest diameter is only 7.5 inches. The normal 8" lids will not fit this pan. This is the first 8" saute pan I ever bought that was not a true 8 inches.I returned it.
Berndes Tradition Fry pan Set, Includes 9-1/2-Inch Skillet, 11-Inch Skillet and Spatula
The pans have a nice weight to them and nothing, absolutely nothing ever sticks to them.
The only thing that is of concern is that the old pan did not have a wooden handle, and I was able to run it through the dishwasher from time to time.I am afraid that the wooden handles will not tolerate the dishwasher as well.

Le Creuset Enameled Cast-Iron Panini Press and Skillet Grill Sets
While shopping a retail cooking store, I fell in love with the Krups FDE312 panini press. A bit of Amazon research, however, turned up a disturbing pattern of sudden failures in this product. Research into other presses from Cuisinart, DeLonghi, Breville, Villaware, and others failed to produce a clear front runner. It seemed that each product had one or more issues non-removable grill plates, difficult cleaning, lack of grill ribs, flimsy handles, tendency to dry food, non-adjustable temperature, etc. Enter the Le Creuset 10 ¼" grill pan and panini press. You can submerge them to clean. They're coated with enamel, not Teflon, which means with proper care they should last two lifetimes (although they're only guaranteed for the lifetime of the original owner)(and note, this is a satin enamel coating, not the Le Creuset smooth coating, the longevity of which I can confirm from personal experience). There's no electrical element to burn out, no cord to store, no moving parts to break. Use is simple. Heat the grill on one burner (we have gas, but they're supposed to work with other technologies) and the press on the other. Wait until a spatter of water vaporizes almost instantly. Brush grill pan with some oil. Place sandwiches on grill pan. Pick up the press, brush on some oil, place on sandwiches and press for a few moments. Sizzle, sizzle. Wait until the cheese melts. Serve. The panini were just like what I'd eaten in Italy. I haven't owned an electric press, but I can't imagine they'd be better. Cleanup of the enamel surface requires a bit of care but, unlike every Teflon-coated product I've ever owned, that surface will probably still be there 20 years from now. And since the grill pan actually has sides (unlike every electric panini press I looked at), there was no side-spattering and thus no cleanup to do around the cooking area. The only disadvantages the grill/press combination costs $140, almost twice the cost of the average electric panini grill. But since many of the grill reviews I read spoke of this being their second (or third) electric grill, I suspect you'd make the money back over the next 20 years. Also, running multiple batches is a bit more of a problem than with a self-heating grill, since you need to place the now oily press back on the flame to reheat it, which can potentially lead to flaring of the residual oil, and will also get the burner oily. I intend to see, however, if you can reheat the press in the pan rather than putting it directly on a burner.Let me just get right to it:this works okay if you want to make one, maybe two sets of sandwiches at most.It may work better if you have a gas stovetop (I don't) but works passably with a flat top electric stove top (what I have) and I'm guessing it would work with electric burners as well.I got all excited reading other reviews about how this press will last forever (it probably will), how it is high quality (true), easier to store (also true), simple to clean (still true), has no breakable parts (yes, yes) and can also be used for other food items like burgers and chicken (probably also true). But I mostly wanted it for panini.
Using it: After opening it I read that this is not meant to be used with my type of cook top but I thought I could probably still make it work. And I did.But it took three batches of panini to get the crust I wanted.Too black, too white, just right-and I don't see how anyone, no matter the cook top, will avoid this process. No little dial to set like on a traditional panini maker for how you want your toasted product to turn out.Second, the instructions say, heat your pan and press on separate burners till hot. Then grease each piece and set the press inside the pan for a minute or so, then do your sandwiches OFF THE HEAT.Okay great. Now say you want to make more than two sandwiches, which is what the pan will hold.No problem for the pan, just put it back on the burner to reheat, but what about the press? It is now greased on the side you put directly in contact with the burner (perhaps more of a problem for electric ranges...).You can carefully wipe it dry (it's still hot) and stick it back on the burner, then grease it again (did that, annoying to deal with, but it worked). You can use the retained heat from the press and pan and get a much more lightly toasted second set of sandwiches (have also done that) and then you pretty much have to start over. With a traditional press you can just keep sliding sandwiches out, sandwiches in.I'm feeding a family of six, so to me this seems like a real selling point for the grills and a real drawback for the press.
After I mastered my pan and press I was all happy till I got to thinking, what would one of these taste like without the grill marks? Some of the traditional presses have two sided plates, one smooth, one ridged.I wanted to try a smooth panini. Luckily I had the wit to realize this would be a simple matter. I got out a plain old frying pan and made a no grill marks panini by simply using slighly thinner bread, and pressing the sandwich down with a spatula as it was cooking, then flipping it halfway through.I liked it better, but that is a matter of opinion. It did get me thinking though: I already have high quality skillets.Did I really just pay $150 for a fancy grilled cheese sandwich pan?Yes, I think I did.
I would say that the most value I got from this purchase is the little booklet that came with it urging you to mix spices in a small dish of olive oil, then to brush your panini bread with this mixture on the outside before making them.It is delicious.Don't think I would have thought of it on my own and my panini cookbook doesn't mention that great little idea, so kudos to Le Crueset for good cooking tips. But you may want to consider (as I wish I had), before dropping your cash:does anyone really need a panini maker? To cook something both sides at a time, thus saving a total of two minutes, and to imprint it with grill marks:is this worth $150 to you?Or $80 or $90 if you go the traditional press route? Before buying this or any panini press I would urge you to get out a heavy duty flat bottom skillet, assemble a panini, place it in the pan over medium heat, press it down with a spatula, and carefully flip it two minutes later. If this is tasty to you, you just saved yourself more than $100 and you are still enjoying a panini.
I hope to use this pan for other things, like burgers, steaks and chicken, to feel I got my money's worth out of it.It is a great pan, nothing wrong with it, thus the four stars. HOWEVER If I really wanted fancy grill marked panini I think I would rather have gone with a traditional press for the convenience of making multiple sandwiches, not using up more than half my stove to make what is supposed to be a quick and simple meal, and adjustable temperature control. Nor would I get one with multisided plates.I would use a frying pan for a "no grill marks" sandwich. Something to think about!

I bought this for my boyfriend for Christmas. In all honesty, I also bought it for myself, because I'm a vegetarian, and I needed some sort of method for introducing variety into my dinner routine.I was getting really tired of rice and beans and greens. This little set, while extremely expensive (in my opinion), really is a lot of fun, and the panini is excellent, as long as you FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS.We didn't read the manual carefully the first time we used it, so I was disappointed, but when you do exactly what the thing says, and get a decent feel for how long to let the sandwich cook for, it turns out great sandwiches. In short: heat both components up, like it says, and then take them OFF the heat, brush them with whatever (we use a spray cooking oil;olive oil did NOT work), put the top onto the bottom for a bit, and then put the sandwich in, press down, and wait.If you forget to put the top back onto the bottom, it won't work right, I have found. And you're not supposed to put it back onto the heat.Maybe all that is obvious to cooking people, but I'm a novice.

I received this for set for Christmas and have already used it a few times. I cooked yellow fin tuna the first use and it came out spectacular. Love the grill marks, and even cooking. This is definitely a piece of cookware that loves low/slow heat, I had it on my main burner on a low heat and got the oil to just about smoking and then threw on my tuna. Cooked it 5 mins a side and it came out with a terrific natural taste! The main event was the panini, I cut my ciabatta bread up, sprayed it with olive oil and layerd on the prosciutto and provolone. I heated the top press on one burner and the skillet on another, once the pan was sufficiently hot (water sizzle/pop) i turned off the heat on both and threw on the first panini and put the press on top. I let it cook for about 5 minutes and found it to be beautifully browned with nice even grill marks. The second one cooked the same without having to apply any more heat. Great set, I'm looking forward to cooking more with it!Want Le Creuset Enameled Cast-Iron Panini Press and Skillet Grill Sets Discount?
This is a great product. The grill pan itself is very heavy, and retains heat very well. The press is similarly robust but has not proved to be as useful on electric ranges -the range can't get the press hot enough to really do much more than weight the food down.Originally we purchased this item to facilitate preparation of panini, but we've since grown accustomed to using it for all indoor grilling applications.
Emeril Hard Anodized Nonstick Fry Pans
All Clad, the parent company of the Emeril line, confirmed that the bonus sets (like 8 and 12 inch pans--ASIN B00284B9QK, model E920S264) are of lesser quality with standard handles.Promotional offers are decidedly not of the same quality as the regular line.
Another promotional offer of theirs is the 10-piece set (ASIN B00284B9KQ, model E920SA64).All Clad confirmed that the quality of this set is inferior to the hollow-core handles offered on the more expensive individual pans sold.
Since all items have the same title and product description, there isn't a way for Amazon.com to see the difference.
Buyer beware; when you purchase a set or pair at a seeming bargain price, it's because you're buying inferior quality. If you seek the hollow core handles good for gripping, spend the extra on the individual pot or pan.Leave the sets alone.
My son gave me both the 12" and the 8" Emeril frying pans.I use the small one for crepes. They have been perfect pans, and they are in constant use.I do not put them in the dishwasher, but nothing sticks to them, and it's not necessary.I use wooden or plastic utensils with them, but there is not a single scratch in either pan, after 2 or 3 years. The finish is very nice. They wash easily with just a sponge or a dish rag.The weight is sturdy, but not too heavy. They are really the two nicest pans I have had and do have.I just ordered 2 more this morning, since they are on sale, and I want my kids to have them.I don't know why people seem to have problems with them. They're great!

Emeril Hard Anodized Nonstick 8-Inch and 12-Inch Fry Pan Set
If you want a non-stick fry pan that lasts, from a company that stands behind their LIFETIME non-stick guarantee, you don't want this pan or anything from Emeril. I had the Emeril 12" nonstick fry pan for about 2 years. I followed ALL of the care instructions to the letter, but it became a gummy mess that everything stuck to. I returned it for a new pan under their lifetime guarantee, and was surprised when they returned my old pan suggesting that I hadn't followed their care instructions. I even called a manager to no avail. This pan was babied. If you get anything non-stick, get a Calphalon. I also had an 8-year old Calphalon non-stick fry pan that I returned at the same time as the Emeril. Calphalon sent me a new pan with a sample of their suggested cleaning product. The Calphalon lasted four times as long as the Emeril, and Calphalon stood behind their lifetime warranty. I threw the Emeril in the trash and went out and bought another Calphalon.

I really couldn't believe I was going to get an authentic Emerilware from All-Clad pan, figured there had to be a catch somewhere, I own All-Clad Stainless steel, a set my husband got for me one year and love it but still needed a nonstick pan. As you may know, All-clad is very pricey just for one item. Low and behold I found this, of course on Amazon.com. I bought two, just in case one "broke down" after use, at least I would have a new one to fall back on until I found something I liked. Afer all, I couldn't beat the price. Well low and behold I now own two fabulous pcs. of non-stick cookware. Highly recomend, you won't be dissapointed. And remember, as some of my friends and family seem to forget, DO NOT PUT NONSTICK IN THE DISHWASHER!! Wash by hand and they will look like new forever...

I'm not big on buying things because they have celebrities' names on them, but this pan came into my house through no fault of my own. My boyfriend bought it because he wanted an inexpensive pan with a smooth non-stick surface for making eggs. We had basically no expectations and were prepared to throw it away and buy another one in 6 months.Boy, was I surprised!
I have come to love this pan so much it has come between me and my beloved 8-inch cast iron skillet, which USED to be the pan I used for everything. While the cast iron skillet browns a little better, you just can't beat the ease of use of the Emeril skillet. I use it so often I got tired of it always being dirty, and I actually went out and deliberately bought a second one. It's my go-to pan not just for eggs, but for a single serving of just about anything.
In my cooking lifetime, I've become resigned to spending hours trying to scrub leftover cooking oil off non-stick pans, only to have a permanent layer gradually build up, which impairs the non-stick quality over time. No matter how I scrub with soap and hot water, when I rinse, there's still a visible oil sheen. With this Emeril pan, that struggle is over.It releases both food and grease like nobody's business, and you almost don't need soap to get itclean! Almost.
I've also been highly impressed by the durability. I've been using pan #1 for at least a year now, I think, and despite near-constant use, it doesn't have a single scratch on it, nor any discoloration on the interior (there is some on the bottom but who cares). It continues to release food and grease as beautifully as the day itcame into my house.
The only downside I've observed is that the handle is not as heat-resistant as I'd like. It's usually not a problem, but occasionally I have to hand off a hot skillet to my cooking partner, and I found out the hard way that the lower part of the handle actually gets too hot to easily touch. You have to keep your hand out at the end. Or use a hot mitt, of course. Considering I also cook with cast iron, which does not come with fancy features like heat-resistant handles, I'm not fazed by this, but I was still surprised.
I've been very surprised by the bad reviews for this line which say the durability is terrible or even only so-so, as that has not been my experience at all. So far it has proven to be the most durable of any non-stick pan I've ever bought. Can you honestly say you've ever had a non-stick pan last a solid year, with frequent use and washing, with absolutely NO degradation in performance? I couldn't until now. I note that another review stated the quality of the sets is noticeably less than the individual pans, and I wonder if that's the reason for the bad reviews.
WearEver Admiration Nonstick Fry Pan / Saute Pan Dishwasher Safe Cookware, Gray
Although I've been very, very careful, my cook top is horribly scratched after only three weeks of use. Sadly, I'll have to look for another 10" saute pan to replace this one.Have used a 10" WearEver Saute Pan for several years with complete satisfaction. Took the information from the bottom of the pan, did a computer search for an identical pan. Elected to order two of the pans from Amazon from among the many sources found in the search results indicating the same pan description. The pans came in, with the same markings as my old pan. That is the only thing similar. Old pan is heavy guage quality pan with a non-slip handle (simply a jam-up pan). What I received was lightweight junk with cheap handles, etal. (What else can I say but "JUNK"!) I don't have any idea why Amazon, much less WearEver would use such deceptive marketing tactics just to sell a cheap saute pan. Don't think I will consider WearEver anymore and I will have to give a considerable amount of thought before ordering anything else from Amazon! Only reason I gave this product a 1-star rating, they do not offer a -5!

I recently installed a wall-mounted Calphalon pot rack, which I like a lot.Unfortunately, the two hooks I just ordered both fail to work properply with the potrack. One is simply too small to fit onto the rack; the other one fits on but is too large, and comes off when removing pans.Additionally, these hooks are either made from a different material and/or finsihed differently from the ones that shipped with pot rack originally.Calphalon would be better off charging more money for hooks that actually work than continuing to ship these things.Whatever company Calphalon has contracted to make these things is doing a terrible job.

Calphalon Contemporary Bronze Anodized Edition Nonstick Saute Pan with Cover
I had a big Calphalon pan that I used almost every day for maybe 7 or 8 years. It was dark gray anodized aluminum on the outside and non-stick on the inside, was 5 quarts big and had 5005 imprinted on the bottom. The non-stick finally wore out and I went searching, trying to replace it exactly. After searching in many places for many months, I gave up on the idea that I could replace it exactly.
Part way through my searching, I did find an Amazon product page that showed a picture of it; I ordered it; received it and was so disappointed when I opened the box--it was a totally different shaped pan from what was pictured.I sent it back.
I went back to searching, this time, when I searched "5005" up popped an Amazon link to this pan. This pan is called "bronze anodized".I took a chance and bought it, hoping that it would be somewhat similar to the one I had.IT IS EXACTLY--except for a bronze-y tint on top of the dark gray anodized--THE SAME PAN.The finish on the handle is a little shinier, I think, but then I'm comparing an old pan to a new pan.
I love this pan because it is so large and because of the unique kind-of concave curve of the sides.Where the bottom and sides come together, there is a distinct angle--not a curve.Nothing ever slops out of it when I'm stirring. The pan distributes heat perfectly and quickly. It is not lightweight, nor is it too heavy to lift (for a big pan.)The handles are well-proportioned and balanced to both help lift the pan when it's full of food and to turn it while it's settting on the cook top.
My old pan never warped, and since this new one is just a variation in color, I assume that it will not warp either. If you choose this pan and in the past only used pans with a curved bottom, you will need to purchase a "stirrer" with a slightly angled bottom: I use a wooden or bamboo one and (as not all wooden utensils are created equal) I search through the selection to find one with a finely-tapered flat end so I can use it like a spatula too.
This pan arrived in a box within a box and showed up on my doorstep oh-so-quick!I couldn't be more pleased.

I ordered this pan to replace another Calphalon pan that I had. When it arrived, I was surprised that it was so much larger than the other pan I was replacing. As it turns out, this was not a bad thing. I made Chicken Parmesan last weekend and the pan was big enough to hold 5 chicken breasts on top of a large batch of sauce. I also love the clear lid. I'm very happy with the pan.Scanpan IQ Fry Pan
()I like this fry pan, but I have a small complaint. The instructions that come with this pan, tell you not to use non-stick spray. Well, that was a mistake. This was tried twice, both times the food stuck and left small food burns on the pan. Therefore there was a small burn taste one of the times. However the clean up was great, but it just is not the non-stick miracle they say it is.
I do like the way the pan fits the stove top. It seems to be perfect for the ceramic stove top. I do not love this stove top, but it is what I have right now, and this pan seems to balance and sit perfectly on the stove top. Which of course means even heat.()I've owned a few Scanpan pans over the years.I also recently purchased a new ceramic glass top range and have slowly been replacing my cookware.Scanpan makes some of the best, long-lasting pans on the market. The IQ 10.25-inch fry pan is no different.
Quality and craftsmanship is something that Scanpan takes seriously. The pan is Pfoa-free and while it's safe for metal utensils, I've never used them on my non-stick skillets.I always use silicon or plastic utensils and I always hand wash them.Even though they almost always say dishwasher safe I just never like putting expensive items like this in the dishwasher. If you keep care of it, the pan will last a long time. With that said, the pan has gotten a bunch of use and has cooked all types of food.It has held up considerably well. It's not easily scratched and surface (inside and outside) maintains its finish.
I've not had any problems with food sticking in this pan or any other Scanpan that I've owned.Cooks evenly and works on smooth glass top surfaces (as well as most other cooking surfaces).Clean up is a snap.
The fry pan is oven safe up to 500 degrees.I find the weight of this particular pan to be of medium weight.Certainly not heavy, but not the lightest I've ever held.On the lighter end, somewhere in the middle.Of course, something of this quality is bound to have some weight to it, but it's still easy to handle and use.My only gripe with Scanpan are the sizes of some of their pans.At 10.25-inch, you'll likely find that most of your existing lids are not going to work.

()This has got to be the nicest non-stick surface I've ever used. I am not a master chef by any means. I like a lot of things extra well done and sometimes I accidentally burn stuff and have to scrub the charred food from my pans. The non-stick surface is like something that arrived from another planet. I can practically use one pass of a paper towel and get all the crud out of the pan. Unlike other non-stick surfaces, it's fairly easy to brown your food without adding a ton of butter. It's the only non-stick cookware I've ever used that advertises that the use of metal utensils is fine. We don't have an induction stove, so I cannot review that functionality but I've been very impressed with this light weight, but very durable pan. My other pans' lids fit this one perfectly as well. A fine piece of cookware for any kitchen.

()You've heard the old saying "you get what you pay for" and in this case it is true! This one pan runs what I've paid for boxed sets of non-stick cookware, and I've never gotten the results from the boxed sets that I have received from this pan.
The 10.25" pan itself is quite hefty weighing in at almost 2-1/2 pounds (That's what my 8" cast iron pan weighs!) It is nicely designed with a comfortable handle and balances well on my gas stove top grates. However, what most impresses me most is the even cooking. I purposefully overcrowded the pan to see how it would cook. Everything browned and cooked evenly. I didn't have to move the contents around from cool side to hot side, as there wasn't any!
Clean-up was a breeze as the meat didn't stick. Those food particles that were left behind let loose with just a swipe from the dishcloth. The bottom of the pan didn't pick up any marring from usage (as my boxed sets did), and even with continual usage, I've had no problem keeping this pan looking pristine.
This pan is a cooks dream come true!
