Lodge CBSF A Skillet Full of Traditional Southern Lodge Cast Iron Recipes and Memories Cookbook

Lodge CBSF A Skillet Full of Traditional Southern Lodge Cast Iron Recipes and Memories CookbookI have been an avid user of cast iron for two decades and have used a variety of pots/skillets/dutch ovens/griddles for cooking darn near everything.I've used them for everything from cooking trout over a camp fire to making gourmet sauces for special occasions.

This is the first book I have seen devoted to the wonder of cast iron. But that's not what makes it such a great cook book.

The recipes are simple, filling and very good.Everything I have made so far has been a hit with my kids and hasn't left a huge mess of my kitchen. The skillet comes full from the oven or stove, goes straight to the table, and leaves empty. Many recipes can be finished easily in the short amount of time most of us have between arrriving home from work and when kids start howling with hunger. For those recipes that don't, I have made them one night and heated them through the next with great results.

I highly recommend this book for anyone wishing to serve good food easily. That it comes from cast iron is an extra benefit!

This cookbook is awesome.I needed to replace my old non-stick cookware and decided to buy cast iron cookware.AND of course I needed a cookbook for cast iron cooking. This cookbook has so many great receipes, everyone of the receipes sounds mouth watering delicious. I have already tried several recipes from this cookbook, and my family loves them. I'm so glad I switched to cast irson, everything tastes great in cast iron.

The book provided exellent recipies that guys can use for outdoor "grilling" on a double burner instead of the typical charcole method.

I purposely chose this book for the history it offered.Since recently returning to cast iron cookware, I wanted to know what other cooks have learned.Kind of like looking over Grandma's shoulders...soaking up her wisdom and experiences.Well this book offeres lots of Grandmothers AND Grandfathers who are experienced cooks!

I noticed one of the previous reviewers called the recipes "quirky."I personally have to disagree. The example the reviewer used was "Strawberry Pizza," pg 178.It's baked on a pizza pan as any fruit pizza would be.I did not find anything I'd call bizare. All the recipes I've seen are what I am used to seeing and preparing, plus a few unexpected surprises...

For instance, page 39 starts a section just for cornbread recipes.26 different recipes for cornbread...I grew up on just one recipe.I really can't wait to try "Ultimate Cornbread" (pg 48) which has sour cream and cheddar cheese listed as ingredients.

This book also offers all the other chapters you would expect to find; breads, veggies, eggs/cheese, poultry, fish, meat, etc.

All the recipes offer us a suggested pan to use, the names of the author(s) and sometimes a little story to go with the recipe.

I've truly enjoyed reading this cookbook. All in all, a delightfull, fun cookbook to use whether or not you are a fan of cast iron cookware!

I do hope this review helps you...

George Foreman GR144 144-Square-Inch Nonstick Family-Size Grill, Silver

George Foreman GR144 144-Square-Inch Nonstick Family-Size Grill, SilverWe have used this grill now for about a month and are very satisfied with it.We've used it for full chicken breasts, pork chops, chicken breasts sliced in half, hamburgers, bacon and much more.

I have to say, that this grill has made cooking a snap for our family. The larger surface area is the key on this, as every meal we've prepared on it has been for a family of four.

However, there are a couple of things that keep this from a 5 star product in my opinion.First is cleaning. It's not very user friendly, and paper towels are hard to get in between the valleys. You can use a sponge, but then yoursponge is pretty much dead after a couple of uses. They give you 2 spatulas that we've begun using to scrape the dry matter from the grill.Secondly is that there is no temperature control.Just plug it in, wait 8 minutes for the grill to heat up (I think it heats up a lot faster than that, however, the manual does say to wait 8 minutes) and hope you have the right time set for your meals. The instruction booklet does give recommended cook times which we have found to be way too long.Just tonight we cooked 4 .25lb hamburger patties in 5 minutes and they were well done.Lastly, it does not cook bacon very well. The strips near the top always burn, while the strips near the bottom don't seem to cook very well at all.The bacon itself tends to settle down in between the cooking area so the top doesn't really touch/cook the bacon from the top.It probably cooks it more by radiant heat on the top than direct.

All in all, we are very satisfied with this grill.Just be prepared to make mental notes on cook times for foods you like and use their initial cook times as a guide until you figure out how you like your food cooked.

Got this George Foreman grill as a gift.Promptly grilled sausages last night, bacon this morning, a panini this afternoon and hamburgers this evening!

It's a super versatile appliance heats up rapidly, cooks food evenly and swiftly.I like how it comes with 2 drip trays to catch all the fat you won't be eating! Also the two spatulas are helpful. Will be using this constantly! Can't wait to try salmon, veggies, etc.Only drawback short cord but understand that could be a safety feature.Love this grill!

Good size.Good layout.Better than the rounder grills. This is my fifth big grill from George. If ever one needed a variable temp control, this is it.This sucker is HOT compared to the other Foreman grills. The grills have a drip channel around the grilling surface which is most useful when cleaning. For some obscure reason the engineers didn't extend the outside channel ridge on this model around the back. When cleaning the top if you drip any liquid it runs onto the counter. This is the only one I've seen with this unfortunate feature.

I LOVE my grill. I've been using it every day for about a week and a half now and I get delicious results every time. I've made sweet italian sausages, steaks, pepper steak, chicken, burgers, tortillas and grilled veggies.

Cleanup is a pain if you don't clean it right away and you let it sit. For example, I let the grill heat up for about 6 minutes, dropped two steaks and as they sizzled I grinded some salt and pepper on top. I then dropped the top lid and let them sit for about 3 minutes gorgeous grill marks, crunchy crust and perfectly medium rare. I served the steaks and after we were done eating...I went to clean it and the 'crust' that develops from spices and juice was stuck and difficult to clean. I used a soft sponge and turned the unit back on so it would release the gunk easier. I got it cleaned but I managed to rub off some of the teflon. A small 1 inch section of it.

Since then I always grab a paper towel and right after I remove the food and and turn it off, I remove anything on the grill plates with the dry paper towel. I then take the grill (unplugged) and lean it over the sink and use a wet paper towel.

I would have purchased one of the models with removable grill plates but there were too many complaints of the plates not heating up enough, this one is just perfect once you get the hang of it.

It would have been 5 stars if the teflon didn't rub off so easily.

***Update***

5 Months later and still the best :) We used it about 3 times a week, sometimes more and have no complaints.

****Update 2****

It's been 1 year 5 mos and the plastic black handle broke yesterday...really not sure why it broke since we're not hard on it and have been using the grill once a week, sometimes once a month. I suppose the heat weakened it over time? We plan on using it still but with a pot holder.

I bought this for my mother. It is our family's first George Foreman grill, but I couldn't imagine what use the regular size one would have unless you are living alone and cooking for just yourself.Within a few days after buying it my family has already made bacon, chicken, and steak on this grill, and it's been great.

BergHOFF Copper Clad 12-Inch Stainless Steel Fry Pan

BergHOFF Copper Clad 12-Inch Stainless Steel Fry PanI have the BergHOFF Earthchef series and love them. This pan is absolutely terrible.Very light weight and EVERYTHING sticks to it no matter how or what you are cooking.Complete waste of money.Do not buy.

So first of all this is the first review for this item so accordingly when I bought it there was non :) Too bad for me ..may be I would no buy it if there would be a review. So here you go..

To begin with the packaging was horrible. The box came with the handle sticking out of it.

As long as I had a big issue and fight with American Kitchen because some of their 18/10 stainless steel is NOT a real stainless steel every time I buy 18/10 SS I check it.This one is NOT %100 18/10 SS (I mean those parts that suppose to be 18/10). However it is close and not that bad (I would say about %75 is 18/10) otherwise I would ship it strait back.

So I decided to give it a shot.

It heated very slowly and than cooled down same slow (which is normal and good).

I wasted about 12 eggs trying to fry them on low heat, on high heat, with different types of oil but no matter what I did I could not get even one normally fried egg. They just kept sticking to the pan.

I bought it here from Amazon for $32.31 and I will not return it but will look for some better option (better does not mean more expensive).

If you would ask me I would not suggest buying it.

Update:Just tried to fry some meat and it worked out almost perfectly. And that increased my opinion about this pan.

Calphalon Commercial Nonstick 10-Inch Everyday Pan with Lid

Calphalon Commercial Nonstick 10-Inch Everyday Pan with LidI bought this at [a local store]. I love this pan. Tough, durable, nice heavy (without being too heavy) weight, able to take oven to stove to fridge without warping unlike some other cheap pans I have. Cleaning is a breeze. This really WOULD be my everyday pan except for the fact that it's a little smaller in size to be truly an everyday pan and I'm only cooking for 2 people. Fork over the money and pay a little more to get the 12 inch pan. That will be much more practical.

Got this little Calphalon pan about two months ago because of its price. Have been impressed with it ever since! Heats fast and evenly. Can cook on much lower temps than I do with my commercial stainless steel cookware. This "three-layer" nonstick coating IS FAR SUPERIOR TO CALPHALON'S TWO-LAYER NONSTICK USED ON SOME OF ITS OTHER PRODUCT LINES! Downside: a) Thought it would be made in Toledo, OH, as are other Calphalon Commercial pans, but was made in China; b) Is on the smallish side and its rounded sides make spillage and overflow a problem if you fill it much more than half-capacity with something that requires stirring--don't expect to cook servings for more than two or three in it; c) Lid and handles do get hot, so have to be careful. But overall, given its price and quality--not to mention its pleasing aesthetics--it is a "must have" pan for every kitchen! (Curiously, despite Calphalon describing this pan as its "commercial" line, the lifetime warranty notes that it does not apply if "used in commercial establishments"!)

Buy Calphalon Commercial Nonstick 10-Inch Everyday Pan with Lid Now

This was my second Calphalon purchase and the first non-stick.I'm not a big fan of non-stick, but this is great.Use it almost everyday. We have a Vegetarian Communist in our house and sometimes it is necessary to cook the same thing in two different pans...this comes in really handy when I want to leave something cooking while I concentrate on real food.Never had anything stick to this or burn, looks great too, have actually brought it to the table and served from it.Makes a great frittata, but be careful if you use it in the oven, not for use under the broiler. The handles get VERY hot.I knew that when I bought it, but just last night I picked it up without a pot holder and have the blisters to prove it.I can't believe I went all these years cooking without Calphalon, it's the best.Cleans up without any effort, a swish of the spongeand it's clean, or you could let the cat lick it out, nothing sticks to it.If you want what you're cooking to brown, this is not the pan to use, grab the hard-anodized for browningto perfection.Ciao!

I use this pan virtually every day, from 2 person stir-fry to successive omelettes, to re-heating a quick piece of chicken or hamburger or steak. It is perfect for 2 toad-in-the-hole or a succession of crepes.I use it to reduce sauces. It goes in the sink, quick swipe with a detergent sponge and back to the stove. It is probably the most functional pan I have ever used.

Want Calphalon Commercial Nonstick 10-Inch Everyday Pan with Lid Discount?

I bought this pan based on the performance and construction of other Calphalon cookware I've purchased. However, as soon as I unpacked this one, it was apparent that the workmanship and finish was significantly below my other Calphalon pans. The pan rim was unevenly ground the lid fits flat, but looks uneven when the lid is removed. The polished lid has numerous tiny pits and marks not found on my U.S. made Calphalon.I suppose this is one of the trade-offs for the great price, although if I were Calphalon, I'd market the China-made line under a different name if they can't maintain the quality standards of the Ohio made line.

I had previously purchased the 9" Commercial Nonstick Collector's Edition Everyday Pan with Lid from Amazon, which was made in the Ohio, and was very impressed with the contruction and finish. (It also works very well, but is a bit tippy on burners when empty.)

Cooking quality is fine so far. I hope the nonstick finish will prove as durable as the U.S. made pans.

The size, overall appearance, and dual loop handles allows this pan to work well as a serving piece on the table for casual dining.

Rachael Ray Hard Anodized Nonstick 11-by-9-Inch Rectangular Skillet with Cast-Iron Flat Press, Oran

Rachael Ray Hard Anodized Nonstick 11-by-9-Inch Rectangular Skillet with Cast-Iron Flat Press, OrangeI have always wanted to try this cookware but truthfully have been too cheap! I finally got this particular pan and am in love with it! I will be expanding my collection soon I hope. For the first 2 weeks this pan was literally always on the stove. You can cook anything in it and clean up is awesome. The press helps cook meats faster than I've ever seen! Bacon goes from the fridge to crisp in literally 2 minutes! It makes awesome scambled eggs too. I cannot say enough good things about it. You have to try it to believe it!

I really like bacon but I've always had a hard time with getting it to cook evenly, that's why I purchased this pan.It really does a good job with heating evenly and the press keeps the bacon flat on the pan so the ends don't curl up and then not cook.I've also discovered that because of it's shape and non stick properties, it does a great job on french toast because you can put 4 slices in the pan at once and just like the bacon, it cooks evenly. My only complaint is that the handle on the press should have been made so that it doesn't conduct heat. After a while you have to use an oven mit to pick up the press. If the handle could be made to stay cool, I would have given it 5 stars.

I am using this about four times as often as I anticipated, sometimes with the press, which works great, and sometimes without.Amazing the versatility that the shape of the skillet provides. Heavy, but not crippling.;)I don't think anyone would have regrets about this purchase.

I ordered all of the Rachael Ray Pans and I have to say the quality is supurb. They clean up easily and do not stick.I bought the hard anodized or something like that. You have to cook on medium heat and no higher but the outcome of what you are preparing will make you proud. Try it I'm sure you will love it as much as I do.

After using this for a little over six months, I can honestly say there are both good things and not-so-good things.Love the size and shape that's the primary reason for purchasing. We used this skillet on average twice a week for cooking bacon and cook on a smooth cooktop surface. At this point, our primary dissatisfaction is that the center of the skillet has bowed inward a bit.Now the bacon in the center 4-5" of the skillet burns before the ends of each piece are completely cooked.Because we thoroughly allow cooking utensils to return to room temperature before washing them and always wash them by hand, this should not have happened. The bacon press is nice and heavy and does its job well. When using the bacon press, the bacon cooks much more evenly.I will probably try another brand of skillet to see if there's something out there that will hold up better.

My husband & I had been looking for this product at local stores for over a year & it could not be found. We had an electric skillet just like this one & we completely wore it out. The heating dial apparently was broke on 350 or 400 degrees & there was no way to simmer, the dial would just turn around & around. Needless to say, I had some very well done smothered pork chops. I was tickled to find this exact skillet on-line.

Most important it's easy to cook and clean with the detachable design. I believe it makes food taste better, the double sided pan helps to cook food faster and keep the juiciness of meat. Totally worth the purchase.

I think it's a must-have for every household. It can replace most of the your existing pans. I wonder if they come in other colors though.

HI,

The frying pan is working well for my family. My mum is enjoying her cooking with this new piece of addition in the kitchen. I am going get at least two more of these pans for my relatives as gifts.

The product does exactly what it is expected to do. The oil stays inside the pan. I can't be sure whether the food that comes out from it tastes better because my mum does not add too much salt and oil into the food. But I reckon it saves some gas and creates a cleaner kitchen which incidentally can be translated into fewer clean-ups.

The service staff from xFish seems friendly and promptly answers my questions with some degree of diligence.

These people are serious with what they are doing.

Helen Chen's Asian Kitchen 14-inch Carbon Steel Wok with Bamboo Handles

Helen Chen's Asian Kitchen 14-inch Carbon Steel Wok with Bamboo HandlesI purchased this wok about 1 month ago.I spent some time researching woks before I made the purchase, including going to stores to look at them, and reading reviews on the internet.I ended up choosing this one and am very happy with my selection. I like the fact that it has bamboo handles and thick carbon steel. It is also well made.

I looked at woks at stores and found that most of them were poorly made.At one box store there was one for about $20.It looked okay, but upon inspection, the metal was thin and the handles were not made well.

I also went to a cooking store only to find poor quality too.The wok I looked at was about $39.Very thin material.

I will agree with one cooking expert who said not to buy an expensive wok.You can spend up to $100 on one, but you don't need one that expensive. In fact, a good carbon steel wok with decent thickness should cost you about $20 to $30.I got mine for a little over $22.

This wok is about the thickest one you can buy on the market. 1.8mm.I think Helen Chen sells another one that is 2mm thick too. The thickness of this one is just perfect.Compared to others I looked at, this one doesn't flex when you pick it up.

As far as seasoning the wok. Use a gas stove. An electric stove doesn't get hot enough.I initially used my electric stove, but was not satisfied with the glaze, so I got my white gas Coleman camping stove out.It worked just perfect! The electric stove works fine for cooking though.

If you have an electric stove, like I do, and need to season your wok, go to a friend's home that has a gas stove, or use a camping stove like I did.Open all the windows, it does get quite smokey and the smoke will set off the smoke alarm.

In conclusion, I recommend this wok.If you like stir fry like I do, you will be very satisfied with your purchase.

Thanks for reading my review.

I bought this wok based on the good reviews and attractive design. I've had it for 6 months now and the bamboo helper handle has dried out and fallen apart in pieces literally. Lesson learned I would recommend buying the plastic handle woks instead of these glued bamboo handles especially if you use high heat for stir frying.

It's not worth the shipping for warranty and have it rejected to say that it's been abused due to using high heat, which is how you are suppose to cook with a wok anyway. Additionally, I don't want to bother going through trouble of re-seasoning a new wok again.

The exposed helper handle is actually composed of two L-shaped metal pieces with a gap in-between them instead of one solid U-shaped handle. so it loosely rotates a little and is rendered useless without the bamboo wrapped around it bad design I'd say. For now, I've made a fix by wrapping a makeshift pipe around those two metal pieces to serve as a handle.

I would never buy wooden handle cookware, especially glued bamboo types, again.

I purchased a wok for my sister for Christmass. I purchased a non-stick coated wok. After receiving the wok my sister went on the net to see reviews of several woks. She decided not to keep the wok I bought because of cancer reports due to TEFLON coatings. After reviewing many woks on AMAZON, I decided on the wok by Helen Chen. After receiving it both of us were very satisfied with the quality of the product. Being the first wok we ever seasoned, we got it wright on the second try. It works great on a flat top electric stove.

Was a little bit worried about the fact that this wok needed to be seasoned, but it was easy and now works great. All the other pans have pretty much stayed in the cupboard, and this one stays on the burner. This is the cheapest pan that I own, and my favorite. Don't need to worry about scratching it, don't need to worry about denting it. After seasoning it is slicker than my teflon pan. Great value.

Want Helen Chen's Asian Kitchen 14-inch Carbon Steel Wok with Bamboo Handles Discount?

I am an Asian housewife and I do my share of stir fry cooking several times a week. I have several carbon steel woks already but I was looking for a less heavy one, so I bought the Helen Chen's wok.It is lighter, but everything else about this wok has been a disappointment.Despite a careful seasoning process I did before I used this wok for real cooking, the wok turned brown and black in its first mission, and it rusts so easily, I have to rush into cleaning it, drying it, and hanging it right after the food is out of this wok. Carbon steel woks do rust, but shouldn't be in such a lightening speed, my other woks made in Japan or Taiwan are so much better. What makes it worse is, even if I clean and dry the wok in time, the next time before I cook with it,I'll be sure to find new rust, so I have to clean it again before using it.

If this is not bad enough, there is further news. The helper handler broke into three pieces within 2 weeks. Because it was broken, I got to look inside how it was built, and that just tells me why this wok has so many problems --because it was made cheaply.Underneath the bamboo handler, there is supposed to be an iron piece that really hold the wok, guess what, that piece of iron is not really in one piece ! I saw two fractured iron stick there, they are not even connected to each other !So I was actually using the bamboo to hold the wok, yet the bamboo is made of four pieces that were glued together. No wonder it didn't last forever.

It was such a disappointment, if I could have given it a zero star, I would. This wok is certainly not up to the duty of high temperature stir fry dishes. The price is low, but its performance is much lower. Not worth the money.

Update International SFP-11 SuperSteel Induction ready Stainless Steel Fry Pans with Helper Handle,

Update International SFP-11 SuperSteel Induction ready Stainless Steel Fry Pans with Helper Handle, 11-Inch, Natural FinishI have several Update International fry pans that I bought from a different vendor. They are well built pans with an aluminum disk ~3/16" thick bonded to the bottom for even heat. If you are looking for a functional, well made stainless pan at a bargain price look no farther.

**I have this size but without helper handle, a 7" and a 14". The 14" is huge and really too big to use on a standard range so mine is stored away in the attic.

I bought this skillet for my induction cooktop. It was quite inexpensive. The fact that it doesn't have a lid doesn't bother me, as I have an almost infinite number of lids from many previous cookware sets.... I always keep the lids... you never know when you can use them.I allow my "little one" to use it, along with a few other stainless pans as she is not allowed to use my expensive "tri ply" and enamel coated iron cookware, (due to non compliance with the no metal utensils rule).I don't use anything but silicone and wood utensils in all of my "good" cookware. It performs well and is quite easy to clean, and will be easy to replace should something happen to it.

Duxtop Whole-Clad Tri-Ply Stainless Steel Induction Ready Premium Cookware with Lid

Duxtop Whole-Clad Tri-Ply Stainless Steel Induction Ready Premium Cookware SaucePan with Cover 3-QuartI bought this 6.5 Quart Saucepan to go along with an induction cooktop by the same company. To test it out though I tried it with cubed chicken breast on an electric stove, which in lesser quality pans usually causes hotspots and results in some chicken underdone, some overdone. I was impressed that the Duxtop pan heated evenly and the chicken was consistently cooked over the entire surface of the pan. When it came time to add a sauce and up the heat for reduction, it also performed well but I did need to watch the heat as not to have anything stick or burn, normal for a new pot though.

The handles stayed pretty cool and I did not need to use pot holders. This is a fairly heavy pan for the money about $27 as an Amazon Warehouse Deal and not sure I'd pay more than that considering the lid. The lid is VERY thin and does not sit exactly flush across the top of the pot; a little bend to it so it allows some steam to escape. Not a deal breaker for me. Attractive shiny finish is a plus looks great on the stove. Deglazed and cleaned up with very little effort.

Will update with induction cooking results.

Overall, so far, pleased with this purchase.

01/29/21 UPDATE: I have used this pan on the Duxtop Induction Cooktop to create an Asian stir fry with noodles. The pan heated quickly at the default setting which is 5; I raised the heat in increments to 10 and used peanut oil to help avoid smoking. It seared the chicken very quickly with barely any sticking. Some bits did begin to brown and coat the bottom of the pan. As I added four tablespoons of Thai fish sauce the brown bits quickly released and the pan deglazed very easily. The rice noodles did not stick until the very end when I allowed them to sit just a little too long while getting plates. Once the pan was empty I added a cup of water to it while it was still warm and the remaining noodles came loose easily. Cleanup was quick and only required a scrubbie sponge.

I bought this with duxtop cooktop because we are not sure if the cookware we already have can use on induction cooktop. To our surprise, the pan we received is a heavy duty stainless steel pan, the steel is much thicker than all the other cookwares we have. It works great on my induction cooktop and my electric burner. And I am pretty sure it will last forever.

I love so much my Duxtop Whole-Clad Tri-Ply Stainless Steel Sauce pan! It's very well built, the quality is over my expectation frankly. I want a multiclad or allclad cookware for a long time, many friends owned this kind of cookware and can not stop raving about them. They are the permanent solution to get rid of Teflon cookware. But I think the all clad multi-ply stainless steel cook wares are expensive for me. Now, I feel I'm lucky to find my Duxtop Whole-Clad Tri-Ply Stainless Steel Sauce pan, I was suspicious about the quality, so just ordered one sauce pan to see if everything matched my expectation. Stainless Steel Non-Stick Frying Pan

BergHOFF Copper Clad 10-Inch Stainless Steel Fry Pan Non-StickI grew up in the restaurant business, my wife and i love to cook a lot. I would rate this pan a fair. The overall quality is fair, the main issue is the machining/finishing on the bottom of the pan which is of very poor quality with tiny groves that make it next to impossible to properly clean.

Would not recommend. There are better options out there.

West Bend 6112 Panini Press and Sandwich Maker

West Bend 6112 Panini Press and Sandwich MakerYes it won't do nice grill marks on chicken or on your sandwiches but who cares.

It also has ridges all round the bottom so the fat/chess etc doesn't run out and onto the counter most of the others just let it ooze out the front .. (if you are lucky )

it s very good and powerfull machine. you can press the sandwich and get a good crusty bread. the only think i didn t like it s very hot all over so extra cautions. overall a good choise

This is without a doubt one of the best purchases i've made on here. With how little I spent for the sandwich maker it sees action every morning since I received it.It's a far better choice than those overpriced models from bigger name companies.

Calphalon 12-in. Commercial Hard-Anodized Omelette Pan.

Calphalon 12-in. Commercial Hard-Anodized Omelette Pan.I do a good bit of my cooking at high temp's to develop a crust on a hamburger, or a steak, to brown off a thin-cut pork chop before the center is overcooked and that sort of thing. That's tough on a true non-stick skillet and they just can't stand up to that kind of sustained heat. They typically wear out after about 6 months of my rather intense cooking.I decided to try one of the anodized aluminum skillets to see if it was a match for my style of cooking and am pretty happy with it.

This is NOT a "Non-stick" skillet, it is stick RESISTANT.Do NOT crack an egg into an un-oiled anodized aluminum pan unless you want to explore it's scrubber-friendly hardness. The egg will stick like white on Mitt Romney!

However, if you want to develop a fonde on the bottom of your skillet while searing a steak so you can deglaze it with a splash of red wine, this is the pan for you.If you want to saute' a stir-fry dish, this is a good pan.It excels at high temperature cooking, though you should have good ventilation when doing so as the aluminum is said to give off harmful vapors.I have a good vent fan that exhausts to the outside so I'm not sweating it.

The pan is VERY scrubbable and you can use a stainless steel scrubbing pad without worry. You can use metal utensils like spatulas and spoons and not worry about scratching the surface. You can use a two-pronged meat fork to stab into a steak when flipping it and not cringe because you will NOT hurt this surface. It's harder than stainless steel!

I bought one about 10 years ago and we are using it in our travel trailer so I am buying this one for the house.I HAVE, recommended it to friends.

I have been buying the Calphalon non-stick for years but decided to try this one.Really didn't realize that it wasn't non-stick.It definitely isn't.Bacon sticks, eggs, ever thing. It can't be wiped clean. Can't be washed clean has to be scrubbed.I do like the size and the fact that the bottom is much flatter. But next time I will go back to the non-stick.

I had this pan for about 25 years and used it to make a variety of meals. I have other very old commercial hard-anodized Calphalon pans, including a stockpot, two saucepans and a tiny skillet. They have all performed excellently and held up well. But the 12-in. Calphalon is the favorite of all my pans (including some from other manufacturers).

It warped, although I followed the care directions throughout the years. I don't think the warp was my fault or a manufacturing defect on Calphalon's part. I don't blame the pan. You should have seen the old cooktop I was using it on. I didn't even realize it was warped until the recent installation of a new flat-glass cooktop.

I still had the instructions but not the receipt. To Calphalon's credit, they replaced it with a brand new one. The quality seems just as good as the older one, and looking at the price on Amazon, I think I paid about the same in non-inflation-adjusted dollars for it way back then. It's an investment, but one I've never regretted. Although Calphalon was very gracious in replacing the pan since I didn't save the receipt, save yours if you choose to invest in this quality cookware. You never know if you might need it after 25 great years of cooking!

I purchased this to replace an identical one that is used daily. It is now 13, and my son took it home to use.

After many years of using non-stick cookware that always seemed too thin (including various calphalon pans), I decided to try one that wasn't non-stick. Most of my pans have warped no matter how careful I am, so cooking on a glass-top stove means they don't heat as evenly as they originally did. This pan is thick so I hope it won't warp. I used it to fry some lightly breaded chicken in a thin layer of olive oil. Turned out perfect and crispy. I then made an omelet with a little olive oil and it cooked nicer than any of my other pans had. Based on tips from other reviewers,I did use a slightly lower heat than I normally would have, which was very good advice.

Cooks Standard NC-00239 12-Inch Ply Clad Stainless Steel Fry Pan with Dome Lid, Multi

Cooks Standard NC-00239 12-Inch Ply Clad Stainless Steel Fry Pan with Dome Lid, MultiVery nice deep frying pan. Great for frying chicken. These Cooks Standard pans are comparable with the very high priced All Clad pans. They look and feel great and the handles do stay amazingly cool to the touch.

The sandwiched layers of aluminum and stainless steel all the way up the sides give you a very well distributed heat. You end up being able to use less heat for all aspects of cooking. Cleanup is easy.

I've read one review that said the pans burned everything and they couldn't even get the eggs off the pan.

Folks, a pan never burned anything. A cook burns food. I suggest to anyone having trouble cooking with a stainless pan to do a search for "cooking with stainless steel pans". You can still end up with a bit of caramelized food sometimes stuck to the bottom and a 15 minute soak will remove it nicely with no scrubbing needed.

I'm done replacing non stick pans every few years, these high quality pans should be able to be handed down to my son so he can avoid the dangers of teflon also.

this is a great pan and you cannot beat the price. The All-Clad 12 inch fry pan witout the lid is over $150. This has a great weight, cooks food evenly and cleans up great if you know what you are doing. Please ignore the 1 star rating from the person that does not understand how to cook with stainless steel. Her review is about the cooking method and NOT this product.I have recommended this pan as well as the set to all my friends & family

this cookware is exceptional. i have a new induction stove and needmultiply construction in order to heat the pans all the way up the sides as well as the bottom.the magnetic or encapsulated "Bottoms only" of other "induction ready brands" are a poor choice for induction cooking because only the bottom can heat and cook. Induction is exceptional when used with proper cookware. this set is fabulous! the closest alternatives were ALL-CLAD at about $1600.00 for an 8pc set. not an option for me. i splurged and got the extra 12 inch multi-cooker and cant wait to add the wok and 12 inch lidded fry pan. i'm serious about my families health and food, so cleaning a pan is nothing new or unacceptable to me. Quality Pans. under$250, 12 pieces (counting my multi-cooker) at amazon. beautiful, too.

First, I read most of the reviews concerning this and other products; comparing features ,pricing, and even complaints(most seem to have problems with food sticking/burning and cleanup).I will try to address most of these with a reasonable quick answers but with true thoughts.

Lets look at features and pricing. This is an all clad design(meaning that it has a core sandwich between two layers that extends the full body of the item), which helps with even heating. The stay cool handles are comforable and securely attached to the body and the product is oven safe too(within recommended limits). The weight of the item is heavy but reasonable when compare with same/equal and lesser quality items. The appaearance/cosmetic/look is high polished and retains it's looks even after several events of cooking as long as you use common sense care in use.As for pricing, all you have to do is compare simailar products and you will find that most items with these features and quality is 2 to 4 times the price of this item(don't take my word, compare for yourself).

Now, as to the problems(food sticking/burning and cleanup), these are user related. The first thing you need to do is follow instructions on use and care. When you recieve the item please wash and dry according to enclosed brochure. To stop and or reduce the chance of sticking, preheat the item around a mid setting; then add oil and reduce heat to a mid-low setting(too high of setting will result in the proability of sticking and or burning of food); then add desired food product(s).Never forget your process of cooking, the best is to not leave and finish your cooking. If you follow these steps your chance of sticking and burning of food is reduce highly. With the steps provided above, cleanup should be a breeze. Most of the time all is needed is warm soapy water and a cloth and rinse well; but if needed you may use a cleaner to remove stain or food particles.Use recommended cleaners and no metal pads or etc, that might scratch the surfaces.(also you can use a mixture of water with lemon juice and or vinager and let soak for 1/2 hour to 2 hours, then wash as stated). All this information is available on the web for you to research and use in caring for this or simalar products.

Inclusion, this product is a quality item at a afforable price and will last for several years of use if properly care for.If you are looking for SS cookware, then this item should aquire your attention, thoughts, and your consideration.

I have thrown out all my teflon pans and am using only cast iron and stainless now. Before I used my new cooks standard pan I read about how to cook with stainless steel. It is wonderful! I love it!! It is well worth the money because it will last and last. Also, no more concerns about toxins. I also highly recommend Lodge cast iron for anyone interested in getting rid of even aluminum sheet pans and loaf pans.

Gordon Ramsay by Royal Doulton Stainless Frying Pan

Gordon Ramsay by Royal Doulton Stainless-Steel 10-Inch Fry PanAs a professional chef, I was looking to update my cookware. I have had a set of Calphalon hard anodized that have been great, but nonetheless I wanted to upgrade. I was debating between All-Clad, Demeyere, and Royal Doulton. I have a new 12 inch All-Clad Stainless pan, so I bought one of the Royal Doulton 12" stainless to put it up against it.

First the overall impressions. The AC (All-Clad) was a fair amount lighter than the RD (Royal Doulton) pan. Both are tri-ply throughout with aluminum between the steel. From a design standpoint, I prefer the angled sides of the RD as opposed to the sloped sides seen in most other pans. The RD pans also were much shinier than the AC pan was. As far as size, the AC pan was a tad roomier. I assume this is due to RD's original measurements being in metric form. The handle of the RD pan was preferable to the AC's. From what I've heard, this is a fairly common complaint with All-Clad, albeit the only consistent one I've heard.

Now for performance. Both pans placed under a medium flame heated to searing heat within about 1 to 1 1/2 minutes. The RD was a tad hotter, but not enough at that point to make a difference. Where there was a difference was in carmelization and fond development. The RD gave a much nicer color to the chicken than the AC, and the fond output was a bit higher with better color. After deglazing, the AC did clean up slightly better than the RD did with soap and water. After cleaning again with Barkeepers Friend, both pans had their orriginal luster, save for some slight marking on the bottom of the RD pan from the flames.

Overall I found the RD to be of just as good quality as the AC, and for a bit less in price. The RD pans are made in China whereas the AC pans are made in the USA. So depending on where you stand with that in mind will decide for you.

Loved the quality of the finish, the weight of the cookware and the easy cleanup. It's great for roasting seeds and nuts and cooking everything I throw at it. Sadly, I have an electric stove and this pan does not sit level on the level burner without tipping toward the handle. ugggg..It's so frustrating. I have to prop something under the pan while I'm heating.

This is very good pan for daily use. The most I liked about this is that it heats up very fast, and great for searing the steak, chickens and fish. With stainless steel handle and body, you can put in the oven without worrying about damaging it.

As with any stainless steel, clean up is usually a breeze. However, sometimes it leaves white marker on the bottom. But with few rub of Bar Keepers Friend® Cleanser & Polish: 12 OZ cleaner, it is as good as new. Good clean up also make food difficult to stick. The best way to make it non stick is to heat up the pan well first, and spray a little oil with Misto M100S Gourmet Brushed Aluminum Olive Oil Sprayer or Pam, and then start cooking.

I use this daily, not only for searing the food, but also for stir fry, making pancake, scrabbled eggs, and everything else. It's un-destructible with its solid build.

The only thing I don't like about it is it's lip. When you pour things out, the juice tend to drip to the side. Wiping with paper towel will remedy it.

Overall, I like this a lot. It's a good value that last forever. I will never go back to Teflon non-stick pan again.

We bout a few items from the Gordon Ramsay line and this is the workhorse pan we use the most.It gets hot 10 times faster than our old no-name collection ever did.Just that alone takes a couple times to get comfortable with when you've been using something else for so long.We sear our steaks and finish them in the oven and they turn out awesome!!It's a lot for a pan, but if it's the only fry pan you'll need for the next 40 years, it's well worth it!!

Farberware Classic Nonstick Polished Aluminum Deep Skillet

Farberware Classic Nonstick Polished Aluminum Deep Skillet, 12-InchThis is the perfect pan for making single-skillet meals.Unlike conventional shallow pans this one is deep enough to hold food for four people.Scramble eggs for the whole family!Basically it's a modern replacement for a wok -lots of capacity without the carcinogen risk of high-heat cooking.

The only downside? There's no lid.I can make do with the lid from my 20-quart lobster-cooking pot, but it's not an exact fit.I'd gladly pay a couple extra bucks for a matching lid.

Farberware seems to have hit the sweet spot in trading off sturdiness and economy.I've dropped this once or twice onto my kitchen floor and the bootom is still flat. The non-stick coating is still non-sticking.Yes, you can get better-quality skillets, but not for near this price.

Highly recommended.

I love my pan.The only drawback is that it doesn't come with a lid.I happen to have one that fits, so that isn't a problem for me.I even use this big pan to fry a couple of eggs.It is used almost every meal.Great quality!

I was so impressed with the quality of this pan, compared to the more expensive ones I own. It is so easy to cook omelets, hashbrowns, crepes, and all my families other favorite dishes. The clean up is virtually painless too. This pan will last a very long time due to its fine construction and durability.

I'm so very pleased and plan on purchasing other sizes as well.

For the price, this pan has so far served me very well.I've only had it for a month or so, so I suppose it may wear out, but at the moment it's an excellent pan.And at this price, it doesn't exactly have to last a lifetime, either.
