Deni 8340 Stainless Steel Electric Skillet, 12 in x 14.5 inch

Deni 8340 Stainless Steel Electric Skillet, 12 in x 14.5 inchThis Deni electric skillet is large enough to fry a whole chicken, and is non stick. We like using it to save energy and keep the kitchen cool during the Summer. It also means no stove or cook top to clean, which is a real plus! Portable, too, to take that hot dish to the pot luck, and keep it hot! But compare to it the new RECTANGLE electric skillet: West Bend 72215 12-by-15-Inch Extra-Deep Skillet which is our favorite. The West Bend has even higher sides (3 inches) and is easier to use because it is not ROUND, but long it measures 15 inches in length. We even bake an excellent lasagne in the West Bend because the lasagne noodles fit exactly! So we actually bought BOTH of these, but if forced to choose, the West Bend is a much better price and seems to be more useful.

I received this electric skillet as a gift. I am very pleased with it.I like the size (12 in x 14 in) and the shape of the skillet

(not round).Even when I prepare a "one person" meal, I do not find the skillet too large.I would not want a smaller skillet.I also like the vented see through glass lid better than a metal lid. I have not had trouble with "hotspots" due to the skillet's heating element.I rate this product as a five-star item.SC

I bought this skillet by mistake. I was going to send it back, but our daughter said she would like to have it. We gave it to her and she really likes it. Our grandson wanted one, so we ordered one for him too. We wanted one that was stainless steel inside and out.

I checked out a lot of electric skillet before decieding on this one and I'm so happy I chose it.The description is exactly what this skillet delivers. The temperature dial lets you choose any setting in between the printed degrees. It heats quickly and there are no hot/cool spots. There is no light to tell you if the unit is on or off, but there is a soft hum while it is heating. When the set temperature is reached, the hum stops. The temperature guage is a plug it easy to install and remove.Cleaning is a breeze: wipe with a paper towel or clean with soapy water and a cloth.Nice size: stores easily.

Farberware FS12B 12-by-12-Inch Nonstick Electric Skillet

Farberware FS12B 12-by-12-Inch Nonstick Electric SkilletMy wife is the primary user of this electric skillet, and this is what she tells me:

The thick, heavy metal makes this skillet appear substantial, and that's a plus. The fact that the skillet can be completely immersed for washing is another good point, and she likes the quality of the non-stick surface.But...

The electrical connector is very hard to plug and unplug from the skillet. It's definitely a two-hand operation to unplug, and that can be problematic or even dangerous when the skillet contains hot cooking oil. Also, the temperature control seems to be either off or on, but not really adjustable. In addition, the lid does not fit securely on the skillet. It is too easy to just bump the lid and make it slide off the skillet.

Bottom line:Some good points, some bad.The skillet fries well, but has some fairly serious convenience issues.

Thinking of the Farberware brand name I ordered this skillet without reading the reviews.Big mistake.Controller plugs into the back or front of the skillet...not under the side handles.Very difficult to use.It also, once plugged in, takes a gorilla to unplug. With the second use the non-stick coating begin to "frost up" over the circular heating coil and now food sticks to this round area.It would have paid to read the reviews...this skillet is next to worthless and it's annoying!

We were very impressed with the heat which was far superior to our previous skillet. We should have bought this skillet sooner instead of turning our old one on to 450 degrees for pancakes whereas this new one only required a setting of 325 to 350.

I have Farberware products and they are good quality. But, this is a big let down!!! Poor casting and the anti-stick stuff wore off fast! It is heavy and the plug is tight. I will be throwing it away much sooner than the cheap Chinese ones I have been using. I would not suggest getting this!

I had a great fry pan for years that accidentally got melted in the oven (don't ask) and I needed to replace it and thought Farberware would be a good choice as I normally like their cookware. This fry pan, however, I do not like at all: the surface heats very unevenly, even though it is a square, and you have to constantly shift the food around to make sure to get all sides cooked. The heating element also turns itself off and forces you to push the temperature dial up to restart it and then the heat is too high.Would not recommend this, I am going to try another brand.

Precise Heat Large Steam Control Skillet

Precise Heat Large Steam Control SkilletThis product is an excellent choice for steaming large fish filets and anything else one might have in mind. If there is any "down side" to this steamer it is the size which could be a storage issue if kitchen storage space is limited.

The quality of the steamer is excellent with an exterior mirror like finish which cleans up with ease and does not leave water spots.

The gauge of steel used is sturdy yet not heavy. The bottom is thick unlike less expensive steamers.I have made pasta and soups without the steamer tray with excellent results. The handles do not heat up and may not be used in the oven. The top plastic knob on the lid has a simple to use steam release valve which works very well should you wish to control the amount of steam being used.

Make sure when using this steamer you have set aside a 'landing zone' on the kitchen counter to set the top. Please remember, this steamer is 14 inches in diameter not counting those friendly helper handles.

Calphalon 5-qt. Commercial Hard-Anodized Saute Pan.

Calphalon 5-qt. Commercial Hard-Anodized Saute Pan.Pan was shipped quickly and put to use immediately. Watch the dimensions as it is a wide, shallow pan. But it heats up rapidly, cooks beautifully, and cleans up easily so I've been making pan meals non-stop since getting this... I love it. Highly recommend.

I needed to replace my existing pots and pans as they were all mismatched and well used (and not in a good way). The non stick was starting to lift so I researched a long lasting, hygenic alternative and the Calphalon Commerical Hard-Anodized products are what I've invested in.I'm very happy with all the pieces they cook well and clean up easily. The lids heat up a little over time, but I can cope with that.

I've just had the skillet a few weeks, but so far it does everything you want a non-stick skillet to do: heats evenly, the non-stick works very well, and cleanup is a breeze...paper towel wipe followed by a hot water rinse, and the outside, which is raw aluminum has stayed surprisingly clean with minimal effort so far. The pan itself isn't expensive, but they always kill you with the shipping. Cheepies, where I got my skillet, is particularly good at nailing you with shipping charges. So I wound up paying a little more than I'd have liked, but I have no complaints with the skillet.

KitchenAid Aluminum Non-stick 11" Covered Deep Skillet

KitchenAid Aluminum Nonstick 11' Covered Deep Skillet, RedI got this pan to replace the 2-quart skillet in the red Kitchen Aid set. At first I wasn't sure about the rounded bottom (the other set had more "square" bottoms, but that hasn't effected anything I've cooked thus far. However, unlike the old pan, you can't simply flip the lid with the handle in the pan for storage purposes.

Other than that, however, this is an example of the same high quality, reliable product I've found Kitchen Aid products to be over the past seven years.

Had another KitchenAid set that didn't come with a big pan. Bought this one to match and it works great!

Rachael Ray Porcelain Enamel II Nonstick 9-1/2-Inch Egg Poacher Plus Covered Deep Skillet, Orange

Rachael Ray Porcelain Enamel II Nonstick 9-1/2-Inch Egg Poacher Plus Covered Deep Skillet, Orange GradientI like poached eggs because you do not need to add butter or fat when cooking them. I mostly make mine the old fashioned way; in a skillet of barely boiling water, dropping in an egg from a saucer. But the egg has to be very fresh (or the white nearest the shell tends to run off and make ragged bits) and you have to have the courage to dump the egg right into the water and BELIEVE it will set up. Then you scoop it out with a slotted spoon. Here comes the downside; you have to DRAIN the egg or it gets your plate (and toast) all watery.

With this pan, you can poach the eggs in nonstick round compartments and then lift off the rack, dump out the water and continue on with sausage or potatoes or hash. Hash topped with poached eggs is great (and you can make hash from leftover roasts or corned beef from New England Boiled Dinner or Corned-Beef-n-Cabbage.) Recipes will follow at the end. Only one problem; keeping the eggs warm. I'd actually suggest cooking your sausage or hash first, keeping it warm in the microwave or covered in a dish in the oven, then swishing out the pan and continuing to poach the eggs. The eggs cool so fast, it makes sense to do them last.

I like the color. I like the nonstick surface. I like the round shape of the poacher. This is a terrific pan concept and versatile, as you can make anything really, in here. And I love orange accents in the kitchen--very bright and cheerful if your kitchen is beige, white, yellow, for example.

Recipes:

1. Turkey Sausage rolls or patties:Take ground dark turkey meat or a mix of white/dark fresh ground turkey (I do mine in a food processor, the commercial ground turkey seems to have additives.) Add in some breakfast sausage spice mix (make your own or buy a mix, I use Penzeys.) Make into patties, or roll into case-less rolls. Cook as you would any sausage. Lower fat, all the flavor. If you saute up a sausage cake with a depression in the middle, you can put the poached egg right inside it.

It takes a bit of experimenting with little balls of cooked-up sausage mix to find your flavoring balance (too much, it will be salty or too spicy.) Once you figure out your custom blend, you can make larger cakes of ground turkey sausage. This is very filling and the fat will be a lot lower than using pork sausage blend which is often high in fat content. The fat is not missed when you make fresh turkey sausage patties, and if you grind your own, you won't have the fat and skin, which is sometimes added to commercial ground poultry and adds to the fat content. White turkey ground is drier, but it is a lot lower still in fat and the spices add tons of flavor. The egg yolk from the poached egg will make it very moist.

2. Leftover Roast Hash--chop up leftover roast beef or corn beef in a food processor or mince on a board until coarsely chopped. Chop up about twice the amount of boiled, peeled potatoes and a diced yellow onion. Saute the onion in a small amount of olive oil until clear, add in the potato and meat and turn until well blended. Some people add seasoning like sage and black pepper, and you can add some gravy or water or broth to make it looser. You can also use leftover turkey to make turkey hash--but I find the turkey needs extra seasoning, such as hot pepper, green peppers, jalapenos, some kind of red chili powder, or even curry. Serve with poached egg on top. This makes a great brunch dish or "breakfast-for-dinner."

A big waste of money. The pan is not the quality I expected and the poachers do not poach evenly. I wish I had sent it back. Don't want to give away and loose a friend for thoughtlessness.

Well made, easy to use nonstick pan. Was disappointed in the poacher as it took much longer than the recommended time. The deep plastic trays increase cooking time. Would have preferred more shallow plastic trays.

It is hard to find a good Egg Poacher pan these days.I wanted a pan like my mother had when I was little, but all I found were silicone float cups, not exactly what I had in mind!I have bought Rachel Ray pans in the past and have been pleased with them, so I decided to chance it and buy this pan.It has worked out great!I love the fact that it is two pans in one!I do spray the egg cups before I put the eggs in, just to be sure, but that is how I have always cooked eggs. A few tips: crack the eggs into cups before you turn on the burner and when are are cooked, remove pan from heat & open the lid and allow steam to escape before removing the eggs. This helps to avoid any potential burns! Also, timing the eggs is a good idea, as the lid gets all steamed up and it is hard to detect when they are done.

George Foreman GGR50 Indoor/Outdoor Grill

George Foreman GGR50B Indoor/Outdoor GrillBefore I get into this review, we have to understand the product we are looking at: a George Foreman ELECTRIC grill. George Foreman products are essentially useful variations of hotplates. In this case, the hot plate takes the form of a grill (with a stand, a dome cover, a large cooking surface with raised grooves etc...).

That being said, this product caters to people (me) willing to try a product that is not a traditional charcoal grill, could be useful in smaller spaces/porches, looks like it is easy to use and clean up, could potentially cut some fat (never hurts, right?), and seems like it will work well as a good back-up grill or a quick solution to throwing mini-bbqs requiring even heat distribution without the hassle of buying/lighting/dumping coal. If that's you, then read on...

Here, I'll try my best to outline the grill's pros and cons, as well as do a quick, inevitable comparison it to a traditional charcoal grill.

PROS:

The pros of this grill basically equal the pros of using hot plates in general:

1) Quick Heat The whole surface heats up very quickly (you'll be ready to cook in a few minutes after you twist the switch)

2) Design Basically you have the stand, a bottom dome, the flat grill that sits on the bottom dome, then the lid (top dome). You can easily remove the flat grill part to use indoors separate from the stand, and it also makes for easy cleaning since you can just throw the flat grill surface in the sink.

3) Easy to Clean The grill surface is relatively easy to clean. Understand, grease is never easy to clean. But in my situation, i wipe off the chunks of grease with paper towels, then run hot water over it in the sink (yes it fits in my sink) and wash it with a soapy sponge. It's basically like cleaning a big oily plate by hand in the sink, however easy or hard that is to you.

4) Space Saving The bulk of the materials are where it should be: the grilling surface. Everything else (aka the stand) is small and portable.

5) Easy to Assemble A no brainer. Put the pole of the stand into the foot of the stand. Attach the grilling surface to the bottom dome. Stick that whole thing on the stand. Then put the cover on top. Took a few minutes while I was watching TV.

6) Great Tasting Food Of course this part is important. I tried cooking everything unseasoned and it just tastes great. I mean, this this one thing I love about hotplates...food tastes good without a lot of seasoning. I cooked unseasoned burgers, top sirloin, chuck roast, kielbasa..it was fast, it tasted good, and it had good looking grill stripes on it when I was done.

Cons:

Seriously, not much that I can think of. If I had to be picky:

1) Could be a little heavy for people with a bad back?

2) When you lift it by the handles, the stand comes out (since they're not really "attached"....the grill just sits on the stand.) So you gotta lift it by the pole of the stand, really...this isn't even a con truthfully.

3) People complain about the grease not dripping into the pan. Well, it's a hot plate with grooves and a hole in it for grease to drip. Of course not all the grease magically swims toward the magical grease drip hole. But still, it works fine...I didn't notice sever grease build-up that stood in the way of my grilling.

Comparison to a Traditional Grill:

Really, there shouldn't be a comparison. Obviously this is not a charcoal grill and should never be compared to one. They are just 2 different things, and so they make food taste different: traditional grills basically fire cook your food through the coal's heat so you get the taste of charcoal while this product essentially "pan sears" your food. I'm a long time lover of all kinds of BBQ, and charcoal grills are great fun, make great tasting food and really cannot be replicated. You shouldn't be buying this grill to ever *REPLACE* a charcoal grill; it should be bought to be a 2nd grill that's great for rainy days or a primary grill if you really have no space and don't have time/space to deal with lighting and dumping charcoal.

Overall, this grill is an electric hot plate with raised grooves that makes great tasting food quickly, quietly, and easily. And for what it is, it's a SUPERB product (and relatively affordable too!). Go get one! I didn't regret my purchase and I don't think you will either.

Originally I saw my mother's George Forman grill (smaller indoor one with lid). Then I saw my brother's Party Size grill. Both of them love their grill.I was able to taste the food from both and found it very tasty and easy to use.I decided to do some investigating on my own intending to purchase the party size grill, when I saw the indoor/outdoor grill.I was impressed with the fact that it appeared to be a bigger cooking surface and the price I found was within reason.I purchased it for the purpose of using it as an extra grill for a cookout I was having. No one used the gas grill at all.I have since used it indoors without the stand, making it convient on rainy days.It is the easiest grill to use and clean that we have ever owned. You can cook everything evenly, because there are no coals to level out.It can easily hold 4 to 5 steaks, 10 big hamburgers, and the list goes one.I am sure there are some drawbacks to those that swear by gas/charcoal grills, but my gas grill has found a permanent residence in our shed, while George sits ready to use at any time indoors or out on our back porch.I am so impressed, that I am purchasing one for my parents for Christmas, to replace the charcoal grill that takes for ever to heat up and messy to clean. I'm sure they'll love it too!

I bought this grill 4 months ago and have used it several times per week ever since.I am a very lazy cook with 3 hungry teens and a hubby who eats like he's a heavyweight boxer. So, I needed something that would cook and clean-up as easily as possible.I can turn on the grill (it has an adjustable thermostat), take out a package of frozen chicken, hamburger patties, whatever, prepare it as usual, and the grill is ready to go to work. Dinner is on the table in no time. Its non-stick surface is just that, making clean-up simple and quick.

I am quite happy with the surface area, as I can easily fit 8 large burgers on at once. I live in the frozen north, so the fact that this grill will also work indoors is plus.

It's portable, reliable, easy to use and clean, and a bargain compared to other outdoor grills.

George put his name on a very good product.

Update: I have owned this grill for 2 1/2 years now and it still works like new!

Let's get right to it:

Pros:

1. Can be used on decks and balconies where gas or charcoal are forbidden as a fire risk.

2. Small footprint, can be used tableside or on pedestal

3. Foreman (Salton) quality is reliable

4. No gas or charcoal lighter flavor--great if you are chemically sensitive (I happen to be.)

5. Quick heating

6. No need to replenish a gas bottle or run out of charcoal.

Now the Cons:

1. Be careful of the fat drainage; if you clog the hole, it can get ugly, real ugly.

2. On that note, if you have a composite deck--one made of resin and sawdust or even a wood deck, any spilled fat or juices will stain your planks. An outdoor rug or mat under the grill is a good idea--something that will catch drips.

3. The grill really isn't as hot as really hot charcoal or gas and you won't get that char-broiled taste. No different than cooking indoors.

4. Requires an outlet.

This type of grill is very common in Europe, where charcoal and gas are not popular or outright forbidden (for example, in Germany, where fires are taken seriously. In a country where houses are cheek-by-jowl, fire prevention is of primary concern.) If you are in an area that does not allow open fire or outdoor grilling, this is a very excellent alternative.

My only problem is the "convenient" drip pan.Maybe i'm the only one who likes to cook more than one thing at a time; but anyways, the fat and juices of the meat quickly overflowed the tiny drip pan and ran out the bottom making a mess everywhere. The "convenient" drip pan is located under the hot metal plate and you just try and empty it while cooking.Luckily I was cooking outside!! The grill works surprisingly well and the food produced was just excellent.Be aware of this problem or you might not be so lucky.

Stainless Steel USA-Made Wok, flat bottom (round bottom available) Lid sold separately

Stainless Steel USA-Made Wok, flat bottom Lid sold separatelyThe product received was not in the condition I as expecting a new Wok to be in.

Bottom looked like it was worn, handles like they had just been welded on. Poor quality to say the least.

I have requested money back (going on a week now), have not heard from seller regarding my request. Would not recommend this seller.

NOT HAPPY!!

Other reviews for this are so off-base! These are authentic Chinese style woks made in the USA. They might look welded, or hand-crafted, AS THEY ARE! If you are looking for a shiny and pretty All Clad quality showpiece for the top of your stove, then this is definitely NOT the wok for you. This is a much better choice for those that want a well shaped rounded flat bottom wok for electric ranges (so common in the US) for cooking authentic Chinese style recipes. The contours and angles of this wok's bowl are just perfect in terms of a flat bottomed wok for tossing and turning food, and will give you a great stir-frying experience. Though truthfully, stir-frying in stainless is not the most ideal situation (seasoned carbon steel!) All Clad makes a much, much prettier showcase stainless wok for your stove top to impress visitors, but the contours of their bowl are a joke if you are serious about Chinese cooking (particularly stir-frying) at home.

Farberware Classic Stainless Steel 11-Inch Square Griddle

Farberware Classic Stainless Steel 11-Inch Square GriddleThis skillet acts like a heavy duty pan yet is surprisingly light weight!I shopped around before I purchased this and believe it to be a great bargain.I have found Farberwear cookwear to be the most long lasting of all my cookware.I'll never buy any other brand!

Santa brought this pan for us and we both have to say that it's really a great pan and a good value.

So far, the non-stick finish is holding up real well (although we have only used it less than a month to be honest)..

What surprised me was how evenly it heats (figured the corners would be colder) and how light weight it is.

We have done the burgers and pancakes on it with out an issue, as well as toasted rolls, french toast, bacon, sautéed peppers and onions, fried eggs etc... and have not had a bit of problem so far.

We did learn a few years ago that non-stick surfaces last longer if you take the extra time to hand wash and dry them, and have done so with this pan too.So far, it still looks like the day Santa dropped it off.

I will say that my wife would like it a bit better if it had a cushioned grip, but so far, that isn't a deal breaker.

Hope this helps some...

Eco Life Aluminum 8-Inch and 10-Inch Fry Pan, 2-Pack

Eco Life Aluminum 8-Inch and 10-Inch Fry Pan, 2-PackI recently purchased a roasting pan by the same company and loved the weight, size, and the fact that there are no PFO/PFTE used in making the pan. This lead me to give these frying pans a try and I have not been dissapointed. The sizes are great and the non-stick works perfectly. They may seem pricey but after researching many brands of safe non-stick pans that had poor reviews I am very happy that I decided to try the frying pans from Eco Life.

I am very picky about cookware. I have gone through many non stick pans through the years and these are some of the best. The coating is not just one of the most "non stick" that I have used, it is also one of the most durable. I have been using these pans for almost a year now and see almost no wear to the cooking surface. Overall if you are in need of a quality product for a reasonable price these are a good pick.

Trying to avoid Teflon I purchased these coated aluminum pans.Don't know if this coating is any tougher or safer. They are fine for daily general use, not fancy but adequate. The coating appears to be holding up well so far (three weeks) and I've had no issues of sticking. The handles are hollow and have a brushed aluminum appearance, not real solid stainless so the pans are light grade.Don't use high heat and use wood or nylon tools and these should be worth the price.

Looking for a ceramic non-stick pan, I had high hopes for this because I thought it was like one I had purchased for my mom. The coating looked great and would probably last about as long as the next pan, but I couldn't keep it to make sure because it warped when I put it on the heat. I have a glass cook top and as soon as I set the pan down I noticed it rocked back and forth a little, getting worse as it heated up. I went up to a higher price point and found heavier built pans.

George Foreman SKG01GFB 12-by-15-Inch Electric Skillet with Glass Lid

George Foreman SKG01GFB 12-by-15-Inch Electric Skillet with Glass LidGeorge Foreman's name is associated with quality small appliances and this electric skillet is no exception. This medium size appliance is manufactured with a nonstick cooking surface, a diecast base, and heat resistant side handles. It looks very nice on your countertop with its black color and glass lid and it can be used to prepare many different foods.

This skillet has met and exceeded my expectations in every category. It takes only two or three minutes to reach the temperature of your choosing and the nonstick surface is so easy to clean, there is really no need to place it in a dishwasher. It is dishwasher safe if you remove the probe, but it cleans so easily, there isn't any need.

Among the many positive qualities with this electric skillet, one of the most important is its depth. Many electric skillets are shallow in design, and this severaly limits their usefulness. But this electric skillet offers plenty of depth, and that means you can use it to heat/cook foods containing liquid without any worries. The liquid won't spill, making this George Foreman Electric Skillet more versatile than most.

Another quality I like with this electric skillet is the glass lid. True, there is the added risk of breakage, but as long as you handle with care, this should not be an issue. The good thing about glass is that you can see the food as it cooks and glass makes for a more attractive appearance. With most stovetop skillets, the lids are solid metal and that means you can't see the food as it cooks. And don't worry that the lid will blow offthere is a small, round opening in the top for ventilation purposes.

George Foreman will always be known for his skill as a professional boxer, but he is eually skilled when it comes to sales of small appliances and this electric skillet is one of his best. It can be used to fry several foods at once or to keep food warm, with high walls to hold foods in place. Cleanup is a breeze and the appliance looks very attractive on most any kitchen counter. Could there be anything bad to say about this appliance? Not that I can see, and this makes it one of the best small appliances I have purchased in a long time.

Many other non-stick skillets reviewed here seem to have problems of one kind or another. When I bought this one, there were no reviews but I have two other George Foreman products one is an outdoor grill and the other is an indoor classic double-sided Foreman grill that really works well so I decided to give this one a shot. I'm glad I did! It works very well. The temperature control seems accurate, it really does take just a minute to clean up, whatever you are cooking doesn't stick and the see-through glass cover is very handy for watching items cook that require the lid to be on. It is generously sized and relatively light weight.

Finally, it was about half the price of some others I considered. What's not to like?

I gave this skillet 3 stars because it's just OK.It heats up quickly and gets very hot (almost too hot). When the thermostat shuts off the heat, whatever you are cooking stops cooking and then continues when the heat comes back on.Simmering is almost non-existent.

The non-stick surface is good (no problems).Clean up is fairly easy considering this skillet is non-submersible in water.

If I had known these things, I probably wouldn't have bought it.

I received this skillet for Christmas. this is my first electric skillet though I have used my moms in the past.

I really like this skillet. It is a large size which allows me to cook larger meals with out having to use the oven. I use it a loot for browning meat, making breakfast (pancakes cooking bacon/sausage, eggs, But my favorite use is for pasta meals I start by preparing the sauce in the skillet, i brown the meat in a separate pan add it and once the noodles are done drain them and add as well. The skillet is large enough to mix it all around (adding pasta to the sauce is a great way to prevent clumping vs keeping separate)with out creating a mess and helps keep it warm for seconds!

There are many things I really like about this frying pan; the size, the non-stick surface, but I have to agree with some other reviews about the inconsistent heating. I've used electric frying pans for 40 years and have never had this problem. There is no way to simmer foods. Either the heat is on or it's off. This makes it hard to leave the house while preparing something like sauce or chili, which need to slowly simmer for several hours. This would be a great product if this aspect could be improved.

I have purchased this pan in 12 inch, 10 inch and 8 inch.To be fair, the 10 inch and 8 inch were a package deal at Costco. The 12 inch version I bought at Bed Bath and Beyond.I specifically bought these to leave at the vacation house we rent for a week+ each year.I got better prices elsewhere instead of Amazon, but in any event, they don't break the bank.

When on vacation, I use these pans several times each day and the rest of the year they are used by folks who aren't particularly careful. That being said, they have held up very well and after two years are working just fine. A few small scratches on the nonstick and some scorch marks on the bottoms, but they still work just great.

Do my AllClad at home work better?Yes.They also cost at least five times as much. Will the nonstick coating on the expensive pans last five times longer? No, not really.

At home, I'm planning to purchase an induction stove.AllClad will work on induction, aluminum pans will not.Otherwise, I'd use these at home too.

This is a durable fry pan.It replaced a much more expensive stanless steel item which didn't last long enough. The construction is solid and the pan performs well and cleans easily.

Napoleon 56003 Elite-Professional Cast Iron Skillet with Bakelite Serving TrayIdeal for cooking a sizzling steak on an open grill just like in those fancy restaurants, can be cooked & eaten off the same plate.

Beware, this item has much less cooking surface than the measurements of 17 x 7.1 x 2 inches would lead you to believe.Apparently, the 17" measurement includes the long handle being attached, which is not in the picture on the website. So the cooking surface is roughly half of that width.Basically, you could bake fajitas for one person on it but that is it.I am sure it is a quality product, but it was not the size I was expecting and therefore I have decided to return.

Corning Amber Vision Visions 10" Skillet

Corning Amber Vision Visions 10' SkilletI prefer a non-toxic pan for cooking which is why I purchased this glass cookware.

For cooking vegetables and items that don't stick really badly, the Visionware has been great. I use this particular pan mainly to sautee or steam vegetables and to fry bacon.

It cleans up nicely when you soak it and scrub it out with a plastic scrubber. I then place it in the dishwasher for a thorough cleaning.

I have used Visionware for about 22 years, including this frying pan.

The frying pan has never failed or exploded on me.

However, there have been some complaints about exploding Visionware (Google is your friend).

Some incidents can be attributed to thermal shock such as running cool water in a hot pot, or placing the hot item on a cool surface, or putting the cookware on a heat source with no water in it.

Also, if you have chipped, cracked, or scratched cookware, it is recommended that you discard it.

I would recommend carefully checking your cookware and discarding it if it is damaged.

You will want to avoid scratching it with metal utensils.

I have several of these pans because I tend to batch cook.

Corning no longer manufactures this product.

Total Chef TCIS11BNG Induction Cooktop with Bonus Pan and Glass Lid Black

Total Chef TCIS11BNG Induction Cooktop with Bonus Pan and Glass Lid BlackOur first impression of this cook top is that it is very well put together, small and relatively energy efficient compared to other forms of electric cooking. My wife had purchased this one because it included a 'bonus' pan to use with the induction cook top, but we quickly realized this pan is way too thin to be useful on this cook top. It's stainless steel, but its very thin, somewhere on the order of the thickness of card stock paper, maybe. This ultra thin pan is very easy to burn on even low settings, as we found out attempting to use it for the first time.

Pros:

Cook top is small, lightweight and relatively efficient for it's price point.

Cook top operates in either preset heat modes (1 10) or by temperature in increments.

Cook top will not operate with cookware that is not magnetic (glass, aluminum, etc.) and will not even stay on if attempting to use them.

Cook top is not swipe sensitive, so it's not easy to change settings or turn it on accidentally, but provides concise controls when used appropriately (by touching)

Cook top heats up quickly and provides consistent heating across the surface.

Cons:

Included 'bonus' pan is great for boiling water and cooking pasta, but not much else. Any small amount of material (butter, margarine, PAM for example) will burn even on the lowest setting within seconds.

Emeril Cast Iron 10-Inch Square Grill Pan

Emeril Cast Iron 10-Inch Square Grill PanThis grill pan made my turkey burgers taste as though I had grilled them outdoors.

I have been looking for an alternative to the lightweight grill pans (which end up losing their coating and subsequently start sticking) and my George Foreman grill (which is an older model and so frustrating to clean because of the non-removable grills) and decided to try Emeril's grill pan. I just finished my first experiment with it....simple grilled chicken breasts.....and I have to say I am thrilled with the pan. I have a ceramic cooktop and the grill heated up very nicely so that when I put the chicken breasts into the pan, they immediately started to sizzle. The chicken did not stick at all and came out beautifully with perfect grill marks on each side. I am still letting it cool off since it retains its heat for a long time, so can't report on the cleaning process, but it says to wash with hot water only and a stiff brush. The only downside is the weight of the pan, but that's to be expected from any cast iron pan. In my younger days it wouldn't have mattered but I have to use two hands to lift the pan comfortably...not a big deal!

This cast iron grilling-cooking pan is terrific! Received it as a bonus gift and love it. In our home, we've cooked with cast iron all of our lives and this is THE BEST cast iron skillet I've used.

Pros: Wavy grill bottom to pan that creates grill marks using indoor heat source and creates more surface for other dishes--just cooked cornbread dressing in the pan and it browned dressing nicely

Great price at ~$28

Cleans up easily--it was no problem to clean the first time, although I did "season it" before first use

You can authentically shout "BANG" when you cook!

Cons: Very heavy skillet which is bulky to handle and clean

Dense, so the heating time is longer that thinner cast iron skillets and may take longer overall for your recipe to cook

I bought this pan because I trusted Emeril. I didn't think he would associate his name with any inferior product. Well, I was wrong. This skillet just does not deliver no matter what you do, and I have ruined my last expensive steak with this hunk of junk. Oh, and it weighs a TON.

First off, it never seems to get hot enough no matter how long or how slowly you heat it. And if it does, it somehow manages to boil the meat in its own juices! So mystified was I by this phenomenon that I actually studied it like a science project, taking notes. Here's what I've concluded: The raised grill grates are so thin and spaced so far apart that the meat gets practically no contact with hot metal at all. So, no way are you ever going to get a seared steak in this pan. Instead, the heat from the gutters (in between the grill grates) draws the juices from the meat and boils them. This in turn creates hot steam. So what you get is a very tough piece of steamed meat, with skinny grill marks, that's had all the juices sucked out of it. Yummy, huh? Now, if I can figure this out why couldn't the geniuses that designed this pan? Did they think we wouldn't notice? It's just a design failure, pure and simple. Emeril, you should be ashamed of yourself. I think your incessant self-promotion has led you far astray. Buyer beware. Don't buy this skillet!

I ended up buying it from shopko.com since Amazon did not have it in stock. The item that I ordered (and received) is the exact part number that was reviewed by Cook's Illustrated.

All I can say is that Cook's was right. This pan has amazing non-stick properties. I've been using the pan for several months now on a daily basis (I'm on a carb-restricted diet, so I eat fried eggs for breakfast every morning) and the non-stick properties of this pan are simply amazing. No sticking. Clean-up is a breeze. I'm VERY satisfied with this pan and will not hesitate to purchase another when this one wears out (hey, nothing lasts forever).

Those who complain that they found this pan model (E9380864) at a lower price elsewhere are confused. They were looking at a different, quite inferior product. This model has been out of stock in stores and internet for months. The other, cheaper model has been mistaken for this one. I know; I bought one of them. The model number was completely different, but I thought it was a replacement. Not so.

OK, I love this pan's non stick... the CI review and the amazon people were right... however the one I got has a definite "hump" in the middle. If you put a tbs of oil in it as per a recipe, it all runs to the sides, leaving the middle dry.if you put eggs in it to fry, same thing.I wish I would have returned it, as no one else has had this issue....so long story short, check it when you get it, and return it if you get a bum one like I did... I would order another and simply check it for this issue...

After reading about this product on Cook's Illustrated, I decided to hunt for one.Lots of trouble finding it, but at some point, Amazon came through with the T-Fal Professional Nonstick (with thermo spot

and prometal pro interior). After buying Calphalon, Cuisinart and other nonsticks over the years, I have been very disappointed because they really aren't nonstick and don't hold up well. This pan is amazing! I use it for omelets, vegetable sautes, meat sautes and general stovetop uses.It is lighter weight than most cooktop pans, but it is wide with slightly sloped sides so I can get a lot in it.And things saute to a nice brown with minimal fata winner in my opinion!I sure hope Tfal makes this product available again!
