Anolon Advanced Bronze Hard Anodized Nonstick 12-Inch Covered Deep Skillet

Anolon Advanced Bronze Hard Anodized Nonstick 12-Inch Covered Deep SkilletI ordered both the covered 12" skillet and the smaller 8" skillet from theAnolon Advanced Bronze Collection and was delighted to see they are even better than I expected. The weight is ideal--impressive but not too heavy for my older hands,The finish shouts quality inside and out. Cooking with them is a step-up in ease of cooking and cleaning. Meat browns nicely with only a tiny drop of oil in the pan.Instructions say no oil is needed, and I may get brave and try that, but in the meantime, can report that both skillets are a pleasure to use for a variety of food I've cooked on my gas range, including eggs, steak, chicken, fish, grilled veggies, e.g. onions, potatoes, stir-fry, etc.Pancakes and French Toast browned without using oil. Iparticularly appreciate that the exterior finish is also non-stick and wipes clean as easily as the interior, This should extend the attractiveness of the pans for a long, long time. The bronze color is nice, but I would have ordered the stainless finish if the sizes I wanted had been on sale at the time.Note:I forgot just how large a 12" skillet is, and will be ordering a 10" soon, as I'm usually cooking for two.

18 MONTH UPDATE: These pans were everything we wanted for about 12 months

before the exterior non-stick finish began to break down and I was unable to

find anyway to keep them looking good.Another 6 months, and the inside of

the 12" skillet had lost most of it's non-stick qualities, and was impossible

to clean. In all, these "better" quality" non-stick lasted just barely longer

than the less expensive ones and price considered, were not as economical.

BTW:We are a 2 person household and we both love to cook and know how to

care for our equipment. These pans were never over-heated of abused, and were

cleaned as instructed. In the 18 months of almost daily use of one or the other,

I could count on one hand the times the pan was NOT hand-washed and put away after use

and not just rinsed and wiped out.Only the small pan is still usable--but unsightly!

Question:Should I now order "best" non-stick, and hope they're worth it, or just

plan on replacement every year or so?

Analon advance pans are the best pans I have used. I have been cooking for 20 years and these are by far the best. Even heat distribution, and nonstick that works. These pans are quality! Heavy, built to survive, well, me. Handles are riveted on with over sized rivets and are super strong. I would bet if you filled these with lead it would probably hold (sorry i didn't try). I have cooked eggs, potatoes, gravy, meat, pancakes & tomato sauce in these pans, with no oil or spray, and have had success with all. Cleaning has been done with hot tap water from sink sprayer and they always came clean. Soap and sponge for safety but the food came out without them. I have several sizes and like them all. Some of the pans come with glass lids. Glass lids are nice and have wonderful handles, but lack a vent hole (the only downfall). I have used wooden and plastic utensils without any issues. At this time i have used the pans approx 20 times and they look and work like new.

I've been searching for a deep skillet for a while now and found this Anolon on Amazon. The non-stick is SO amazing that my husband (who hates cleaning dishes by hand) automatically washes this pan whenever he or I use it! You just need mild soap and a sponge and off comes everything! If this keeps up, I will be purchasing more items form Anolon.

Finally I can flip an egg without a mess. Out of the box, I washed it lightly in soap and water. First egg I tried stuck a little. Added some bacon grease to the pan with a towel and nothing sticks. I can now just wipe it clean with paper towels. Hot water rinse after frying hamburger. We are going to order a 10 inch to go with this one and throw all of our old frying pans away. I did some research online and non stick frying pans have a limited life expectancy. None of the available brands will last a lifetime. regardless of the price you pay. If I get several years of easy use I will be satisfied. The glass lid is a plus. Bacon grease doesn't fly all over the stove top.

From what I read you can extend the life of any non stick coating by keeping the temperature lower and not using metal utensils. Do not wash them in a dishwasher. Its overkill anyway. Either just wipe it clean with a towel or use hot water with a sponge. Do not use any abrasive scrubbers like the two sided sponge/scrubber.

I always keep a light coating of grease on the surfaces. If I use soap for cleaning, I will again give the pan a wipe with a towel and a few drops of grease.

Tramontina Limited Editions Barazzoni Full-Clad Copper Exterior Saute Pans

Tramontina Limited Editions Barazzoni 12 Inch Full-Clad Copper Exterior Saute PanI sigh with pleasure when my eye catches my copper-clad Barazzoni pots hanging in my kitchen. The pots are beautiful and they perform excellently. They have an elegant shape; a soft, but sturdy feel to the handles, and they have a nice weight--not light-weight, but not too heavy to lift or maneuver either. The line is called "Butterfly" and it was designed by Claudio Bellini. They feel good. The cool-to-the-touch handles are made of oxidized metal that creates a dull black finish that compliments and highlights the gleam of the copper. The handles are on the slim side, but they still work fine for my long, thin fingers.

I am reviewing the 3.5 quart-size pan that is one of the sizes available here.It has a handled lid, and besides the long handle on the pan, there is also a "helper" handle on the opposite side.Looking at the pictures, it might not be obvious to see: The lid is shiny stainless steel with the same dull black handle as the pot.

I bought this size because I love my Calphalon Contemporary non-stick 13" diameter, deep-sided skillet. This pan is basically the same size.I really like the high walls--seems to serve my purpose more often than my low-sided 12" skillet.I also like the way the pots angle in slightly at the top--the shape seems to help hold and distribute the heat. I have a Viking gas cook top that does not allow a very low simmer flame and with this line of pots I can achieve a small, very slow bubble simmer that I usually cannot create and maintain.

How to clean? Cleaning these copper pots is a breeze if you use Wright's Copper Cream.Wright's Copper Cream Polish, 8-oz. This is a great product that never scratches (always make sure your sponge is clean and your pot is already washed.) "Elbow grease" is not necessary either, if you don't wait too long between treatments. You can clean a copper pot in a minute or two.

With this Barazzoni Butterfly line, I do not believe that quality or performance could be affected by pot size--they will all work wonderfully well. And the lip is the same on the entire line, so they should all be "dripless".

Unsurpassed in utility, quality, usefulness and beauty. If you can afford the price, buy as many as you can find magnificent.

Lodge Logic L6SC3 Cast Iron Lid, 9-inch

Lodge Logic L6SC3 Cast Iron Lid, 9-inchgot rid of the microwave and don't have a toaster oven. This lid makes the pan essentially a little oven of sorts. It also allows for frying up things that splatter while containing the mess, sometimes I use it with the lid ajar so steam escapes and splatters mostly don't.I'm probably going to buy lids for presents for members of my family, cause I like having a lid that much.

Something to keep in mind is that the lid has to be treated the same way as a cast iron pan, for me that involves mostly inverting it over an open flame after use.Failure to do this will result in a rusty lid, you don't really want that.Mostly I don't wash it cause by and large it is covered in either water or oil/fat and I'm ok with baking those out.

Purchased for a 9 inch skillet,; it does not fit properly, however, it fits my chef skillet perfect.; am very happy about that. Need to order a 9.5" lid for the 9" skillet.

Bayou Classics Cast Iron Jumbo 20 in. Skillet

Bayou Classic 7438 20-Inch Cast-Iron SkilletI was SO looking forward to receiving this pan, as I read a review that touted it as absolutely the best pizza pan ever.Well, I should have paid more attention to the previous review...Titanic is an understatement! This pan is so big, that it doesn't fit inside my wall oven.So if your plan is to use it in your oven, measure it first! The oven needs to be a minimum of 22" wide. From rim to rim the pan measures 21", from outer edge of handle to handle, it measures 22-1/2".Looks like the Boy Scouts will be getting a donation from us!!I'm giving it 4 stars because it is a beautiful pan!

The first skillet I received was badly warped, but Amazon sent a replacement right away.

These cast iron skillets are not "seasoned" which is what I was looking for. They are rough when new and require a fair amount of work before curing: Removing the protective wax coating, sanding the inside (is a must), coating with vegetable oil and then curing at 500f in an oven for an hour. Read on the web "Cast Iron Jack McGrew's" method for curing cast iron. If done correctly they are excellent and the final product is better than the pre-seasoned skillets.

At 20 inches and 33lbs these skillets are huge but we always fill it up; eight to ten slices of french toast or two pounds+ of bacon or three to five pounds of potatoes.

For even heat control, use over a sturdy gas burner (Bayou Classic's Banjo cooker) or a fire grate with low coals.

The first time we used it the pan developed a huge crack. It is now unuseable. We did follow the directions to "season" the pan by pre-heating and putting oil on it.

The skillet looks like it is just what I was looking for, but it came "Cracked". This was due to the fact that it was poorly packaged, it was simply put in a cardboard box, with NO foam, newspaper, or bubble wrap, to protect it during shipment. I notified Amazon, and they promptly replaced it, with another cracked skillet.

If I could get one, without a crack in it, I would give it 5 stars.

Diamant Stone fryng pan cm. 32

Diamant Stone fryng pan cm. 32While in Italy, 2 months ago, this beautiful, sleek cookware caught my eye and I purchased a couple of pieces. After cooking with it, I ordered this skillet and another piece as well. It's attractive, with black metal and rich wooden handle, which comes off so the pieces can be used in the oven. It's heavy and heats evenly, but not as heavy as cast iron.It cooks beautifully and I love to cook, soquality cookware is important to me, as are my Henckle knives . . . . .so you know what level of quality I use. They are non-stick and cleanup is a breeze.I have only had my initial pieces for two months, so I do not yet know how well the interior finish will hold up, but I have high hopes and plan to purchase more and complete the set !

Chef's Design Single Burner Reversible Grill/Griddle

Chef's Design Single Burner Reversible Grill/GriddleI ordered this item and was excited about using it, but I had to return it. Its not listed in the item description, but on the box it says the griddle is not compatible with flat top stoves.

This is a superb product. It works great in both modes and really does defrost things quickly as well...something I was a little sceptical of.

Compared to the price for grill pans it was a REAL bargain and does the job as well or better because there are no issues of being able to get at the meat to turn it.I would love a bigger one that covers more than one burner!

I bought this on 8/21/08 solely to cook chicken and steak in the COLD Cleveland, Ohio months when I didn't feel like starting my outdoor propane grill this winter (2008-09).

I had no idea of it's touted claim of "defrosting foods quickly" until I actually had it in my home and read the brochures in the box.THIS THING IS INCREDIBLE!I kid you not, stuff that would take 6-8 hours to thaw on my counter-top are ready in about an hour(or less!).It's like Magic!!

A helpful-hint:If you want "grill-marks", put it in a 500-degree oven for 10 minutes or so before putting it on your stove-top burner....This thing hold a lot of heat!

...I personally like my steak "Mooing" on the inside but with a nice crust of seasoning and/or flesh-cooked about 1/32nd inch on each side.If I have a really 'nice' piece of meat, I've left the grill in the 500-degree over for upwards of 15 minutes before putting it on the stove-top and adding the piece of meat.

You certainly don't need to "pre-heat" it in the oven and you wouldn't want to if you were making say, a pancake or an egg....From 'Cold' to stove-top, DO pre-heat for 6-10 minutes at medium-high.

This is the drawback:I actually love the one I got so I wanted to buy another one!I originally paid $13.26 on 8/21/08 for this wonderful thing.--It's a little more than a month later, 9/30/08, and the price has more than doubled to $32.32!

It's NOT worth $30+ but it is worth $15.If it's 'On Sale' for $15 or less, BUY IT!You won't regret it if for nothing else than it's Quick-Defrost Magic!!

Blessings,

LC

I came back to the US from living abroad and I had to buy everything for my home, starting from scratch.I bought a set of pans that have disappointed me, so I began looking for a new fry pan, at least. I looked at skillets, electric skillets and fry pans of all makes and models. I have so many electric things that I have to store away! I really didn't want one more. I took a chance with this single burner grill/griddle and I absolutely love it. I leave it on the stove always. I do spray it before using. One time I forgot and made steak kabobs. Usually a quick rinse will get the goop off. This time it was more difficult. So, I put it back on the burner, poured a little water on it, brought it to a sizzle and the crust came right off!If I had been the designer, I would have added a small handle. Love this product and use it daily!

Kotobuki Tamagoyaki Japanese Omelette Pan

Kotobuki Tamagoyaki Japanese Omelette PanIt comes with a basic-quality non-stick coating. Eggs, oil and a mini silicone spatula are not items that cause surface scratches and I am pretty careful about how I prepare tamago (Japanese omelette)...Nevertheless, I managed to make a couple of chicken scratches on the bottom of the pan near the side edges after the third time used. I'd recommend cutting a styromfoam plate to fit the bottom of the pan to minimize storage scratches.I would have paid more for a Silverstone coating or higher quality coating, but couldn't find something comparable that didn't cost an arm and a leg. It's a more delicate surface than most regular non-stick 'fry' pans, but like most non-stick cookware, you'll probably end up replacing it after hard use. Overall, it's a relatively inexpensive purchase if you don't cook a lot of tamago but would like a pan that fits the purpose.

As a westerner, and non-Asian, who loves to cook Asian (especially Japanese) recipes at home, I was nervous since this pan has such mixed reviews. Let me put those to rest by saying if you are careful, it works great. It does just what it says, and the tamagoyaki does NOT stick. You must use oil, as the mixture contains sugar. It will stick to anything with no oil. Do not skip (or reduce) the oil, and you will find that your yummy snack comes out just as it should. I recommend watching a professional make tamagoyaki, to get a realistic view of the use of the oil. I found lots of good ones on you tube. Happy cooking!

This pan is shaped perfectly to make great tamagoyaki. However, one needs to be more gentle with the surface than I have been.I've used it about a dozen times since I bought it, and the coating is starting to flake off from the pan -this is limited to areas that show scratches on the surface, which were probably from either manipulating the omelets with chopsticks, or from scraping off burned-on egg with a butter knife. My fault, I know, so be warned.Use only silicone tools when contacting the pan's surface -not chopsticks or cutlery.

Also, the picture doesn't show it, but although the metal tang of the handle goes all the way to the end, the wooden part does NOT wrap around fully to the bottom. That is, when you hold the pan by the handle, your fingers wrap around the handle from the wood part to the metal underneath. This is a problem because the metal carries the heat from your cooking flame and will burn your fingers.I have to wear an oven mitt or wrap a towel around the handle to avoid this.

This is a great little omelette pan!I say little because it's smaller than I expected but that hasn't been an issue really. You'd be surprised at how many eggs you can fit when you're rolling them up!I haven't had any issues with sticking like some of the other reviewers have but I do make sure to use a little oil in the pan when I'm making the eggs. Also, the pan feels quite heavy and well made.I've been cooking professionally for longer than I care to think about and I can tell you I've held allot of pots over the years and this one feels better than most for it's price range.Sure, it doesn't have a heavy bottom like some fancier pans but you really don't need all that for making Tamago. The pan conducts heat really quickly and I've made dozens of omelets without burning a single one!It works like a champ!

Overall, it's a great pan for cooking eggs and I'd recommend it to anyone wanting to try their hand at Tamagoyaki! You won't be disappointed!

Jamie Oliver by T-fal C942SA64 Nonstick Hard Anodized Thermo-Spot Heat Indicator 10-Piece Cookware

Jamie Oliver by T-fal C942SA64 Nonstick Hard Anodized Thermo-Spot Heat Indicator 10-Piece Cookware Set, Black ()Previously, I've owned the New T-fal D913SC64 Signature Hard Anodized 12-Piece Cookware Set by T-fal, which I loved.I expected to feel the same way about this T-fal set.I was especially excited to try the square grill pan.

I seasoned the pans as directed, then I used the square grill pan for frying up some pork chops (something my other set of T-fal excels at).I couldn't believe how badly those chops stuck to the pan!Even after soaking the pan in hot, soapy water for an hour, I still had to use a lot of elbow grease to get it clean! It wasn't a matter of cooking it wrong either...The first time, I cooked them exactly the same as I do with my other pans. The second time, I used a much lower temperature (thinking that I may have accidentally cooked at too high a temperature the first time).Even using the lowest temperature, the chops still stuck!

After a little research, I think I've figured out why.T-fal has two different manufacturers produce their pans.My previous set (the D913SC64) is made in France. This Jamie Oliver set is made in China, and it shows.T-fal, I'm disappointed.

()The only thing "unique" about this set is the Thermo-Spot heat indicator, which lets you know when your pan is heated up by turning solid red. That's a fine feature, though I don't find it terribly important-how hard is it to just wait a minute? I guess if you're in a rush and need to know right away, it's cool.

But I have several issues with this set:

1. NOT dishwasher safe. The manual says all their other sets are dishwasher safe, EXCEPT the hard anodized exterior sets. This is not made clear on the packaging.

2. Nonstick doesn't work well. Like another reviewer, I first tried cooking eggs in the small pan. They stuck like crazy! It specifically tells you not to use cooking spray or oil because it can mess up the pans, but there's no way I could go without it. I even took a photo because I couldn't believe what a mess it was to get these eggs out of the pan. I've had much better nonstick pans before.

3. Thinner than I'm used to. The pots and pans are weighty-they don't feel cheap-but they must be thinner or more conductive on the bottom than my usual pans because I had major trouble cooking pancakes... I have a gas range, and even on a low setting, the pancakes burned on the outside very fast, yet were liquid on the inside. Even after several rounds, I couldn't get the pancakes to cook right. I'll keep trying with thinner pancakes and an even lower setting.

5. Cannot be used under the broiler because of the rubberized handles.

6. The "large" saute pan is really just medium-sized... that's the one I used for pancakes, and I could really just cook one large pancake at a time. It would not suffice for a real dinner for more than one person. You'd still need to buy a separate large saute pan for everyday use.

It's an attractive set, it feels good in the hand, and it's nice to have three lids with the set, but I can't recommend it in good conscience because of the above issues.

Buy Jamie Oliver by T-fal C942SA64 Nonstick Hard Anodized Thermo-Spot Heat Indicator 10-Piece Cookware Now

()Some of the reviews so far have not been particularly favorable, and I understand the concerns of those folk.Nonetheless, I've been thoroughly delighted with the set, which is impressive in appearance, has a decent, if not "Calphalonic" weight to each of the pieces, and stack easily in a small space (I have them on the top rack of a smallish baker's rack).

The pans conduct heat nicely and (surprisingly) evenly.I have not had any of the issues others have mentioned with things like releasing an egg from the pan, though I must admit, I use a bit of butter (always) and not cooking sprays (ever) for my eggs (or anything else personal preference).I live alone, but entertain frequently and I've had no issue with the size of the pans, though I tend to make multiple courses of smaller amounts.

The only issue I've had with this set is that I generally make my sauces in a skillet (rather than a saucepan) and the shallowness of the pans makes serving the sauce directly from the pan a bit clumsy and unnecessarily messy and when eating alone, don't feel I should have to pour the sauce from a pan into a serving vessel merely to get it onto my plate.A quick wipe up of the stove and that's remedied, but a bit more depth to the skillets would have been nice.Perhaps in the next incarnation with the next celebrity chef!

Read Best Reviews of Jamie Oliver by T-fal C942SA64 Nonstick Hard Anodized Thermo-Spot Heat Indicator 10-Piece Cookware Here

()I received far more than I expected and am so delighted about this T-fal Set.At first glance I thought this is just another set of cookware and began reading the instructions.Do this and do that so you can begin using this pot or skillet. No bid deal but a bit more work than most new sets require.I started with a small sauce pan and worked my way up to the big pot along with the skillets and honestly this is one fine set no matter how you might want to classify it.

Put the raw food in, cook for a while and it's over.Clean up is a white tornado of speed. The pots and all are lightweight and tough. The little center Thermo-heat spot is there and it appears to be effective but I am too much of a novice to be an expert. The sauce pans heat quickly but when using they do not scorch nor burn the contents.Being able to see the food cook with the glass tops is another plus and makes the process just that much more enjoyable. After using all pieces I have had zero defects or problems and highly recommend this set for the amateur or the professional.

Want Jamie Oliver by T-fal C942SA64 Nonstick Hard Anodized Thermo-Spot Heat Indicator 10-Piece Cookware Discount?

I was looking for an Anodized set because of what people say about it (twice as strong as stainless steel, professional look, etc) and I went to the stores to find myself one but they were very expensive. I could not believe I found this set on Amazon at this price. I have had T-fal product before and the non-stick is great. And I also love Jamie Oliver and what he stands for so I thought the combination of both T-fal and Jamie would be a winner.

No doubt about it, this set is awesome.

The non-stick inside is second to none and nothing sticks and sooooo easy to clean.

The outside is very pretty and should last me a lifetime.

The handles are made of a soft rubbery material like silicone so they are super comfortable to grip and it also means your pans can go in the oven at a higher temperature than my old pans with plastic handles.

The 2 fry pans and the grill pan have the red dot in the middle which tells you when your pan is at the right temperature to start cooking. I had never really used it on my old T-fal pans but I thought I would give it a shot with these new ones. It actually does make a difference. If you heat your pan (with no oil) until the dot turns solid red and then you pour in a little bit of oil your food will actually take less time to cook and will cook at the right temperature. It's a cool little feature I will be using more often.

Overall.......... a great set of pots and pans and it has all the pieces you really need to do most of your regular everyday cooking at home. The beautiful grill pan is a plus. Such a nice pan.
