DeBuyer Crêpe Pan - 9.5"

DeBuyer Crêpe Pan - 9.5'The last crepe pan I bought before this one was the Calphalon Commercial nonstick crepe pan. A great pan but it stopped being nonstick after only 1 1/2 years. With all the controversy surrounding nonstick coatings I decided to go old fashioned and buy the classic blue steel crepe pan by De Buyer. Now after quite a few crepe batches I can say that this is the best type of crepe pan and it'll probably last you a lifetime. It heats up really well and cooks crepes at a low heat setting on my ceramic cooktop. It should be treated like cast iron but is much lighter and has a really smooth surface (unlike my cast iron round griddle) which is ideal for delicate crepes. It does need to be seasoned and its nonstickability improves after each use. Some caveats I discovered: follow the manufacturer's directions for seasoning; use only plastic or wood utensils (it can actually take metal, but metal can actually scratch your seasoning so you'll have reseason); never use soap or put in the dishwasher; and never scour the pan with anything stronger than the pads used for nonstick coatings. After cooking, I just rinse in hot water wiping with a sponge or a dobie pad, dry, heat on the stove on medium low heat, add a little oil, then wipe the pan with a paper towel and let it cool before putting the pan away. The clean-up is only one extra step but the pan is worth it. Don't worry if it discolors; it's just part of its patina and indicates the pan is developing its nonstick surface. I find that it does a superior job cooking crepes, pancakes, naan, eggs, etc. Its temperature response is better than the Calphalon and the price is right too!

BTW, only buy De Buyer. I bought a cheaper blue steel pan that was made in China and it warped when it was heated. De Buyer's been manufacturing these since 1830 in France; I think they have the best ones on the market.

I used this pan on my induction cook top and it is fantastic to use when you don't need a giant fry pan. There is plenty of room to cook a regular size tortilla or several large eggs. I also used it for dipping things in chocolate since the walls are nice and low. It is easy to get to whatever you have. Turning eggs over is a breeze because of the low walls. I love these pans and I also purchased the 13" and used it for making large crepes. They all work perfectly. Make sure you read up on seasoning pans and watch a couple youtube videos so you know how to do it. The more you season the pan and use oil in the beginning, the more non-stick it will become. This is a MUST. Once you have it seasoned well, you won't have any problems with food sticking, it will act like a teflon or ceramic pan.

This pan conducts and distributes heat extremely well.Unfortunately, that also means the handle gets really hot.Every time I use this pan, I burn myself.The pan is also quite heavy.

its a great pot/pan but a bit too heavy to lift if you like to toss, shake and flip the contents while stir frying food (think how they stir fry in chinese restaurants)

the 10 inch version is light enough that lifting it is not quite as burdensome.

Nordic Ware Superior Steel 8 Inch Saute PanI disagree wholeheartedly with the other review; not only is Nordicware the best saute pan I've ever used; It has better a non-stick surface than any other piece of cookware I've ever used; baking pans, roasting pans included.

It looks great; it has a beautiful look; however, works extremely well. The handle never heats up, despite it being all-metal. Thanks to this lovely feature, I can also use it in my oven twice a week. :D It is also American-Made and a tremendous value. I wouldn't trust anything from China that touches my food for a second. It's not safe.

I would not purchase this pan again. It was supposed to be durable and non-stick. I was very dissatisfied with it's performance.

Stansport Cast Iron 6 Piece Cookware Set

Stansport Cast Iron 6 Piece Cookware SetI put "cast iron cookware" on my Christmas list last year, and my husband got me this. First off, it's not very smooth, even after a year of continual use. I very carefully clean and re-season my cast iron after each use. Still, if I rub a paper towel over any of it, I'll have little bits of lint stuck all over it. My two Lodge pieces, which are newer, don't do that they're much smoother. Also, this stuff is made in China. That doesn't sit well with me (I frankly can't believe my husband got me China stuff when we're trying so hard to get rid of chemicals and questionable items like this, but there you have it). Until someone can tell me that there is 100% absolutely no lead or other crap in there that the Chinese don't seem to mind tossing into things to make a buck or two, I'll always wonder. I'm slowly replacing all my Stansport stuff with Lodge for the above reasons. So I basically gave this stuff three stars because it holds my food well as I'm cooking. My two Lodge pieces are different sizes than the ones in this set and I use them whenever I can. I'll slowly switch out all these pieces too. And no, I don't work for Lodge. I happen to own the two brands and I like Lodge better for the aforementioned reasons.



I was really impressed with these. I loved the easy clean and the way they cook.More expensive pots and pans have a certain evenness in the heat when cooking.The metal core of the pan/pot dissipates the heat evenly.I've bought cheap pans that will have certain areas of the pan that burn food while other areas do not get hot.These work just as good as expensive copper core pots/pans at a bargain price.My only beef was that the must have been sitting a for a long time in some dirty warehouse.They arrived pretty dirty.Not a biggie though.I cleaned and seasoned them.Gonna BBQ with these this Summer! :-)

One of the items listed in this set is a 5 quart chicken fryer.This chicken fryer is not large enough to hold a chicken and in fact only holds 2.5 quarts.This is decieving and wrong.I measured the volume with water and rust appeared in the fryer and dutch oven after I measured them.The seasoning was not complete.The handles are very short also.I now understand why the set appeared to be a good value.It's a good price, but you don't get what you think you're getting.I'm going back to Old Mountain cookware.

Did a return, the new one came next day, works fine.

It gets hot and heats up quickly.

I'm not a fan on the latch, worry about breaking it, same for the hinges. There's less space in the pockets than you would think. The grease catch is about useless if you even remotely over fill the quesadilla.

That said, it's $25 and the quesadillas tasted great.

Worth it imo. If you can shop around and actually inspect the unit, maybe go with a different model. They all look the same on here, can't imagine they're really any better quality.

Very happy with this item. It is smaller than I expected so you have to get the smaller sized tortillas. Product works just like it claims and the quesadillas have been great. Only negative is that it is a little difficult to clean. You have to wait until it cools before cleaning and getting dried cheese out of the crevices can be challenging.

My initial attempts at using this skillet were not very successful. The food stuck to the two handle rivets and could not be loosed easily while cooking.As I continued to use it, however, the problem disappeared and I can say that the product has worked very nicely since then.

Flip Jack Pan

Flip Jack PanI have seen the ads on TV saying just how good this thing is so, when I found one at a local Walgreen's, I bought it.I used it a couple of times and, as of today, I tossed it in the recycler because it is useless.

OK, the good news is that it cooks well and I never had a problem with food sticking BUT to keep it from sticking you HAVE to apply some cooking spray to both pans before you start to heat them.

The bad news is just about everything else.First and foremost--it leaks.When you try to flip the pan over if there is anything that is even slightly liquid inside it will leak out the joint between the pans.It could be egg white or batter, if it is still liquid it will leak.Second, and something that the commercials never mention, you cook in the lower pan while the upper pan is still upright.You close the upper pan and flip the thing over.Now you have to wait while the (used to be) upper pan heats up and begins to cook.Also, in the commercial they show a woman blowing on a pancake to make it slide out of the pan and it is nowhere near that easy.While the food doesn't stick badly, it often has to be gently nudged to make it slide out.This needs to be re-engineered so that the edges of the pans overlap rather than just meeting.That would help stop the leaking.The heating of the second pan is something we would just have to live with.Do I recommend it?Absolutely not!



I bought this hoping that it would be good at making eggs over easy.Unfortunately, it's not so good.The non-stick just doesn't work and the eggs end up stuck to the upper lid of the pan.Even after i seasoned it like the instructions say.Eggs definitely don't slip around the pan as in the commercial.Well it's only $20.i'll try it using cooking spray.

UPDATE:

Having used it for a few weeks now, I've figured a few things out.First, I have to use cooking spray.Without question.And I need to spray it on while the pan is cold.Spraying it on when hot just makes a mess.Second.I need to flip the pan and pre-heat the top before putting anything in it.Third, I think this pan will completely fail when the hinge fails.It's made with very small rivets.They don't look like they will stand up to a lot of use or abuse.So I think there is a life expectancy that I have to look forward to.

I was very excited when I bought this, but upon getting it home I realized it had to be seasoned just like any cast iron skillet. When did nonstick surfaces need to be seasoned? It was also cheaply built. Upon cleaning after seasoning it, the rivets on one handle popped loose and the handle was floppy after one cleaning.

When I finally did test it out by cooking eggs, upon flipping it over, not only did the eggs stick to the top I now had a real mess as i had eggs on top and on bottom. I grabbed a plastic spatula to slide the remaining egg into my old cast iron skillet and had to actually scrape to get the egg from the orgreenic pan. They were not burned they were just stuck to it as they would have been to a non greased iron pan. I finished cooking the mess in my properly seasoned cast iron skilled, to which they did not stick, and tossed the Orgreenic pan in the trash.

This was an awful experience from the ordering process to my attempt to cancel.When ordering, either online or by phone, I was asked for credit card information before I was even given a final price.I did order online and after completing my order, was informed to "allow 3 to 6 weeks for delivery".Since I was not willing to wait that long to get the product, I tried to cancel so I could purchase the item at a local store.I was told by customer service that the order took 48 hours to show up on their system and I should call back in a day or two.When I called back two days later, I was told that the product had already shipped and I would need to reject it when it was delivered.Tracking the item online is impossible.

I did purchase the Flip Jack Pan a a local store and am very sorry that I did.I seasoned the pan as instructed and it ended up gooey, like when you use a spray oil on a non-stick pan.And, after seasoning, as other reviewers said, eggs stuck to the pan.I much prefer a similar product called Green Pan (it is grey in color) which I have used for many months with great satisfaction.

When I purchased the Pizza Pan I assumed it was at least 12 inches BECAUSE THERE WAS NO SIZE GIVEN!

That is bare minimum size for a Pizza Pan, the one I purchased was 10 inches!!!!

I think that makes for a pretty SMALL PIZZA, SO LESSON LEARNED!

Sellers should ALWAYS include ALL DETAILS about their product!!!

Information on this item doesn't mention that it is only 10 inches in diameter. Other than that it's a great pizza pan that can also be used as a griddle. I love cast iron but wish it were 12 to 14 inches in diameter. 10 inches is an awfully small pizza!

Farberware Premium Aluminum Nonstick 10-Piece Cookware Set with Stainless Handles, PlatinumI got these pans as a "oh-gosh-I'm-moving-I-need-new-pans-QUICK" set. They were on sale, so I figured above $50 and under $100 for a nice set of pans would last me a few years. All I have to say is... meh. These pans are mediocre. The nonstick coating is nice and seems to be lasting well (2 months into using them every day). However, they are really, really light! As someone who cooks every day, I prefer pans that can stand up to any saute-ing, whisking, stirring, or shaking I can throw at them. I have to be careful what I put into thesenothing really heavyor they'll be off balance and difficult to use.

These pans will work great for someone who doesn't cook a lot, like a college student, or just for like scrambling eggs and reheating soup every now and again. For someone who loves cooking, though, these are not a viable option. I don't expect these to last me more than a year at best, since they already have scratches and deep stains. I'll be looking for some heavier, pricier ones soonor better yet, building my own set from individual pieces.

This is not a heavy duty set of pots and pans. Before buying mine I did some research and discovered that I could save alot of money on a good set of pans by making sure to care for them properly. I think if you do that with these, you'll be pleased. While I don't think you'll be giving them to your children and them to theirs, they'll probably last a kid through 4 years of college or so. Lightweight, handles stay cool, they really, really do clean up easy. Just don't use metal utensils or full blast heat on them and you're good to go.

I purchased an individual piece from this set at a discount retailer. I was in the market for a open stock circulon frying pan but just didn't want to spend the money at the time. I picked the small frying pan up in the store and noticed the weight on it was decent, the bottom sturdy and the handle rubber (these on amazon are metal...) I cooked two omelets this morning for my fiance and I and used spray oil on the first one to make sure it did not stick. The second one I used no spray. Both omelets released from the pan beautifully and I even let the second one sit a little longer, almost to see if it WOULD stick. It didn't. I don't think these are the greatest pans, they aren't heavy duty but they won't warp easily either. We are getting married in September and I just switched the expensive set of cookware on our registry to this. I figure, if it lasts us four years, at this price, I will be pretty pleased. I like to use low heat for cooking because I believe its easier on your stove and your cookware, I think if these are well taken care of they will last just fine. :)

I only complaint I have is that the outside of the pan is hard to clean, my frying pan has burnt on grease/sauce stains.

I just now found out Ultrex cookware was recalled years ago because it is dangerous.

The coating can separate from the pan and be forcefully propelled from the pan.I had no idea until now.I bought two sets from HSN and they never notified the customers that the product was dangerous.The Ultrex company went out of business as soon as they realized the product was unsafe so that they would not have to cover the lifetime warranty.As usual, HSN claims no responsibility for endangering lives.Furthermore, it is illegal to resell a recalled product.Please do not buy or use this product.

I bought 2 sets of Ultrex cookware and they are still in excellent condition. I do not cook everyday and I do not use high heat. If the company is out of business, I would not recommend anyone buying anything from a company which no longer exists. If people say they had problems, I would pay attention. But like I said, I have had my sets for years, can't even remember how long, but at least seven.The largest fry pans I have used only sparingly, but to date, I would say I got my money's worth.

I started using Circulon for simple everyday recipes as pancakes, sunny-side-ups, French toasts and vegetable stir-frying.These pans are very easy to clean and non-stick when cooking, even without adding oil.They are best cleaned without abrasive products.Using only water to clean and low heat to fry will make these non-stick pans last longer.However, the coating do come off with extensive use, so they needed to be replaced occasionally.

Scanpan Classic Ceramic Titanium 10-1/2-Inch Square Fry PanI purchased this pan to try out the glass ceramic titanium surface.It is a superior surface.We used the pan for 3 months.The problem arose the last time my wife used the pan.She was cooking in the kitchen and I began to smell melting plastic in the other end of the house.The smell lasted for days.There is no external damage to the handle.It must be occuring under the metal band that attaches the handle to the pan.I am afraid to use the pan again.



This is a fantastic pan. There is no hot spots, food browns evenly and beautifully. I find that it heats up faster than my other pans and I use lower heat than I need with other pans. I have bought many other non-stick cookware from Scanpan and I love them all. The food I cook on Scanpan always turns out better than when I use my other pans.

You can't beat a Scanpan product!I use this square shape pan when making pancakes rather than hauling out my electric "same shape" electric fry pan which never did have such a good non-stick surface.The pan cleans up extremely easy.Product purchased through Amazon.

This is still a great non-stick pan, but something has changed since I purchased my original pan (a long time ago). I use this pan almost every day and the handle is already loose on the new pan, whereas the one on my old pan is sturdy as ever.

Jo!e Whisky Egg Non-Stick Double Sided Omelette PanWhen I first saw this pan in the store I thought it was just so cute because it is tiny and the egg face sealed the deal.I've alway liked my larger folding omlette pan but stopped using it since it is just too big.This little pan, although not perfect, is perfect for me.The first time I used it I melted the plastic handle because the pan was too small for the burner I chose.I solved the problem by using my tiny simmer burner on the lowest setting.Before using the pan I always spray it with some type of non-stick cooking oil.Even with spraying I still get small specks but they do come off with a gentle handwashing.This is best used for a plain 3 egg omelette.I will on occasion add a 'small' amount of cheese or ham but it gets really full. I added too much egg once and learned my lesson fast after cleaning up spilled on the hot stove top.If you use only 2 eggs you have a little bit more room in the pan to get creative with additional ingredients.The omelette pan turns out a perfect little puffy round one person omelette.I am not planning on putting this in my dishwasher but it is so small that handwashing is very quick.Overall, it is a perfect one person pan.Just make sure to usethe pan on the smallest burner, use pre-spray and handwash.It's cheap and I don't expect it to last more than a year or two but it is fun to have.



This pan is excellent for the single person.It makes a perfect serving for one. I use it for the small serving needed for my diet and it is great.Truly non-stick and easy to care for.Highly recommend.

I impulsively bought this product at somewhere other than Amazon, but as usual Amazon sells everything so I thought I'd come over here to look for reviews. I wasn't an omelet eater until I bought this, now I eat them at least 2 times per week. I've read many of the reviews here and I don't know if it's the product that's faulty or the operator. The first time I used this pan I sprayed it with Pam and in the process of cooking got oil everywhere.

After that my method was to saute bacon, onion and, optionally, green or jalapeno pepper in a little butter and olive oil until onions are transparent. Chop or shred any cheeses and put aside. Drop just a bit of butter in the Omelet Ease and pre-heat over medium burner. Add your cheese to omelet mixture, pour in pan, lock handle, cook for 3 minutes, flip sharply, cook for 3 more minutes, slip onto plate, enjoy. The bacon, EVOO, and butter was enough without added spray oil to keep the omelet from sticking. One key step is to make sure the pan is hot enough. Flick beads of water in the heating pan, and if they dance madly across the surface the pan is ready.

There's a small flyer attached to the pan that calls for cooking each side 3 minutes, not 2 1/2 minutes, not 4 minutes. I have a glass cook-top stove; I don't know how different conditions are with gas burner stoves and regular coil electric stoves, but their instructions work perfect for me. Will my pan start failing me? The non-stick coating? Locks and hinges? I don't know, but it's been a good 2 months for me and no problems yet.

Eclectic Electric Skillet CookBookI've tried a few recipes from this book and they are well written and turn out as desired. I wanted more one pan meals and there is a section in the back for "meals in a fry pan." Includes appetizers, dressings and the usual meats and vegetables.There are plenty of helps in the front and back about steaming, stir frying and fat-free cooking.I was surprised that there are some recipes for baking bread right in the skillet.

Some recipes require the use of the skillet, empty and wash, then continue to use it. I found this to be too much trouble for me anyway. I cook some of my ingredients on the stove and then place in the skillet. But I suppose the author was trying to use the skillet exclusively for a complete meal.

Overall, it's a nice cookbook specifically for the electric skillet.

This book has a nice selection of recipes.I enjoy the pictures and good instructions.It makes a nice addition to my new skillet.

The reason I ordered this book is because I do not like to take the time to go to Presto.com and look up recipies.As for the recipies themselves, over-all they are a bit above of time & interest level.Need I mention skill level?Since I am way-below-average as a meal preparer for a family of four, most of you meal preparers will probably find the recipies rather "elementary, my dear".I don't regret the purchase.Order the grill insert also.Mine is around here somewhere.
