All-Clad Stainless 2-Quart Saucepan

All-Clad Stainless 2-Quart SaucepanI have read people's comments about the relatively small diameter (6") of All-Clad's 2-quart saucepan.I find that the narrow diameter of this pan maintains a very hot, moist "atmosphere" in the upper region of the inside, even with the lid off.Because of that, the top of the food in the pan benefits from the radiant heat above it as well as from the physical-contact heat of the bottom and sides of the pan, even as you are adding ingredients and stirring, and with little loss of moisture from the food. The narrowness of the top of the pan helps prevent the wafting away of heat and moisture.(Using a long-handled stirring tool helps to protect your fingertips from the steam!)If you find that you are filling this pot with food, you really should transfer the food to a larger pot.In the 2-quart pan, leave enough space above the food for the "head of steam".A truly wonderful design!

I recently purchased the All-Clad 2Qt. Stainless Saucepan. The pan is heavier than most saucepans I have used in the past, but the added length of the handle more than compensates for the additional weight.

I found the pan to be extremely adept.I found that the heat transferred evenly throughout the cooking process. My ingredients did not scald or burn.

I have purchased premium cookware (I thought) in the past, but the All-Clad is by far superior to what I have. This was my first purchase, but not my last.

This is another of the workhorse pans in my kitchen. The AllClad Stainless 2qt pot is marvelous for cooking sauces that will bubble or foam; for sauces involving fruits that may need to boil. The height allows for ingredients to grow, and the small diameter means you are not waiting for items to heat up. The pot heats quickly and evenly.

Try it for cranberry sauce at the holidays, or any small sauces involving milk or cheese. Remember that the pan does not have a great surface area, so timing and delicacy in preparations is key. Leaving the pot unattended on a high heat is not a smart idea. Keeping the pot with a good warmth, slowly working up the heat of your sauce or fruit is one of the best ways to use it.

The only downside of this pot is that yes, it is difficult to pour from, and the small surface area of the pot (=smaller open area) means that ladles are often too unwieldy for it. So be prepared beforehand to know how you're going to get your sauce out of the pot without making much of a mess.

Have fun in your kitchen!

I just discovered All-Clad about six months ago, and ordered two of their less-expensive items.I was so impressed with the quality and the functionality -not to speak of the elegant appearance -that I've gone on to replace almost all of my old (VERY old!!) set of pots and pans.I've kept a few that I find useful -a cast iron griddle, for example -but I've bought a new All-Clad piece or two about once a month, and now have almost everything I need, but not all I want.I LOVE this stuff!!

I had never heard of ALL-CLAD products until my brother-in-law (of all people--he hates to cook) purchased a set of cookware that was on sale. When I saw it in his kitchen, I thought it looked so good, I picked up this saucepan (I'm forever making sauces). It was one of the best purchases, kitchenwise, I'd made in a while. It has the two qualities that all cooks demand: it's easy to clean and it's durable. The lid sits firmly and snugly.

Calphalon Contemporary Nonstick 5-Quart Saute with Glass Lid

Calphalon Contemporary Nonstick 5-Quart Saute with Glass LidAfter 3 tries I am giving up on this pan.I replaced it 2 times because there was a black coating on the inside rim of the lid that was flaking off.Now the 3rd pan has warped.I would expect more from a $179 pan.Amazon has had great customer service though.I'm glad I didn't have to go back to the department store each time.

I have a glass top stove. The Calphalon contemporary after only 3-4 uses slightly warped. It was enough to have a perceivable "wobble" when using it on the glass top.I subsequently have purchased the Anolon Pro series of pans which has not exibited this behavior.I have used the pans significantly longer than I did the Calphalon.

I've never used it on a glass-top stove (I like my cast-iron too much to use a glass-top stove), but I've never had any real problem with mine, and I use it for just about everything I cook. The nonstick is beginning to peel off after 5 years of use, but since I ignore recommendations and put it in the dishwasher, and have been known occasionally to use a metal spatula in it, I have trouble being too bent out of shape about it. Certainly when, in another year or two, this one wears out I intend to buy another Calphalon to replace it.

I am tired of my anodized infused, expensive flat bottomed Calphalon pans turning into woks. They are simply not suited for glass top ranges. Over time, they warp and develop a rounded bottom that causes them to spin dangerously on the stove top when stirring, and they make very poor contact with the heating surface. I have had the same experience with every flat bottomed piece that I have purchased, and while their warranty is OK, I don't care to spend my time sending cookware back to the manufacturer.

Cuisinart Chef's Classic Enameled Cast Iron 14-Inch Roasting/Lasagna Pan

Cuisinart CI1136-24CR Chef's Classic Enameled Cast Iron 14-Inch Roasting/Lasagna Pan, Cardinal RedI was so disappointed when this item came. The vendor has the description listed as being 3.8 inches deep, not 2.8 inches deep like it is.They offered to refund my money, but I would have had to send it back on my dollar, and a cast iron lasagna pan would have cost too much to send back, so I decided to let myself be stuck with it.

Nice quality; however, the pan is nowhere near as deep as advertised. It is only 2 and 3/4 inches deep (total outside depth).Inside is only 2 1/2 inches deep.

Cuisinart Chef's Classic Enameled Cast Iron 14-Inch Roasting/Lasagna Pan, Cardinal Red

This turns out to be the one of the best cooking purchases I've ever made. I used it for roasting vegetables and they turned out great. I've also used it as a casserole dish (baked and stuffed chicken) and everything came out perfectly done.

As for carrying a dish to another's house there is no comparison to cast iron for maintaining the heat.

I really like cast iron pans, so thought this would be great for lasagna and it is, but the size of this thing weighs a ton, especially when loaded with lasagna, which is heavy anyway. If you use this thing in the oven, you'd best have some pretty heavy-duty oven racks and some arm muscles to wrestle it in and out of the oven!

In my Mom's brand new Maytag Neptune stove the oven rack flexed, but didn't permanently bend the rack. A lesser oven rack would, undoubtedly, be permanently damaged.

The pan was so heavy loaded with lasagna neither my Mom nor I could get it into or out of the oven. Had to have my husband do it. I wouldn't advise putting it onto a dishwasher rack!

Clean-up was great...nothing stuck to it and washing was easy except for hefting it over to rinse.

I think I'd best look for a cermaic version of this same size pan.

I bought this from Amazon before a family Thanksgiving dinner that I was asked to bring stuffing.I used this pan, covered it with foil after cooking, and the stuffing stayed hot for hours.Clean up is a breeze too. I hope that Cuisinart will soon be offering many other pieces in this enameled cast iron at such a reasonable price as this.I absolutely recommend this pan!

Joie Microwave Egg Poacher

Joie Microwave Egg PoacherWorks great, teaspoon water, 80 seconds at power3..perfect egg. You have to adjust the power on the MW I have a 1100 watt so power 3 is perfect.

Not only is the time absolutely impossible to predict, leaving partially uncooked/partially overcooked poached eggs, but the device itself is of poor quality. The top pops off and gets lodged in the egg. It's a real pain. Don't bother with this product. I was excited that I could poach at work, but really I'll just stick to scrambled for microwave cooking.

Buy Joie Microwave Egg Poacher Now

You have to be very careful on the time and power you set on your oven because even though there are a couple of holes in the lid, it still explodes very often and leaves egg pieces everywhere on your Microwave. I usually have to heat once very low power so the lid doesn't pop and then place it again for a few seconds so the egg gets cooked correctly.

I found that it is a lot better and I get a better result if I just use a cup to make the eggs..

I bought this not expecting much. I was pleasantly surprised by how well it works! I like the cute face on it and I have been enjoying poached eggs in 20 seconds for breakfast many mornings since buying it :)

Want Joie Microwave Egg Poacher Discount?

First of all I really enjoy my other Joie products but unfortunately this particular product does not work. No matter how much water you put in with the egg, the top cover will pop off when the egg explodes in the microwave and it makes a mess. The top probably needs to be heavier to handle the pressure inside. I would suggest the company discontinue selling this product and redesign this product to make sure it works before selling it on Amazon.com.

Lodge 5-Piece Cast Iron Cookware Set, Black

Lodge 5-Piece Cast Iron Cookware Set, BlackTo give a little background I had never cooked with cast iron prior to this set.I grew up with teflon, tried out the "titanium waterless cookware" (which was super expensive) and everything burned.I went back to teflon, but my last set was getting all scratched up and needed replacing so I was looking into other options.I had heard through my best friend who is a nutritionist that cast iron is the healthiest and best, but was intimidated by the maintenance.Long story short, after researching everything I decided for the price it was worth trying (half the cost of a Rachael Ray or Paula Deen teflon set).I'm so glad I did! This really is super easy to maintain, I just wipe with a towel after every use and grease slightly with crisco to restore the sheen and they look brand new!I didn't even have to wash or retreat, as they were non stick right out of the box.I liked that they cook evenly and the only other real "adjustment" I had to make to my cooking style is remembering to wear an oven mit when handling.I'm super pleased with this set and highly recommend it!

This set is currently listed for $107. I just put all these items in my cart individually and it totals $68.32. I love my lodge cast iron, but for the life of me I can't figure out why the set costs more than the pieces purchased individually. If you're interested in this set (and it's a great combo) do the math first to find out which way is cheapest.

Also, season your pans a few times before using them. I rub on a thin coat of coconut oil, put them in a 350 degree oven for an hour, then let cool. A few times of this and they are amazing to use.

West Bend Grill/Griddle

West Bend Grill/GriddleFirst let me say I eat a lot of pancakes. I mean like everyday, sometimes more than once a day. This grill is the best pancake maker I could ever imagine. Except just one thing...for pancakes you need to prop up the back 1/4" (I use a pair of bath tiles) because the grill is designed so fat will run into the rear mounted drip tray, but you don't want your cakes doing that. When propped up, the grill is flat as a pancake (pun intended) and your cakes will be perfectly round every time. The grill heats fast and the heat is uniform. No stick surface takes a few batches to get broke in, then it works good. I leave the thermostat in one position and just plug it in and out. It's super consistent that way. Overall great product. Bought at Target for a few bucks more that Amazon. No big deal...got to see the runner ups in person. Oh yeah, the surface flips over for cooking meat. Now I just hope it lasts a long time.

I purchased this grill/griddle to replace my aging 9 x 15 Teflon-coated Presto griddle.I wanted a larger size, a better nonstick surface, and more even heating.

This product performs the second and third requirements well. However the 11.25 x 18 plate size is misleading; the actual cooking surface is 10 x 16.5.I was able to cook 9 slices of bacon comfortably (perhaps 1 or 2 more crowded), but only 6 slices of French toast (same as my old Presto).

My surface thermometer indicated a temperature of 325° when the griddle was set for 300°, but this amount of inaccuracy is not unusual in griddles and skillets in this price range.

It is a nice looking grill/griddle but it does not stay hot very well. I was looking for a good griddle to replace my mother-in-laws because she loves the one she has but it is very old and starting to fall apart. The only problem is finding a griddle that will hold its temperature well. She uses it a lot to make tortillas but finding one that does the job is proving tough.

Mauviel M'steel Frying Pan, 8-Inch

Mauviel M'steel Frying Pan, 8-InchI bought the Mauviel M'steel Frying Pan in the 8 inch and 9.5 inch this Christmas to replace some Calphalon Non Stick pans that were wearing out.Real Simple magazine had a review on this brand and indicated they were a great buy/great find.

They arrived very well packed, and had a layer of wax on them to protect them as well.It was a bit daunting to get the wax off, and took a bit of time to cure them--we did the process (peanut oil and high heat) two times, and then were very careful when cooking with them for a few times after.

The effort was well worth it!The pans are the perfect sizes for just an egg (8 inch) or eggs or an omelette or potatoes (9.5 inch) and they are completely non stick now.The handle feels substantial and very comfortable (I have small hands, my honey has big hands and we both like the handle equally). My honey says that eggs taste better in these pans than any pan he has cooked with in many years--and he is a wonderful cook with lots of experience!

We do not use soap, and we wash out the pans by hand, dry them and hang from our pot rack in the kitchen which protects them from bumping into other pots and pans.

We have used the pans almost every day since Christmas--10 to 12 times each at least.

I really like the way they look too.Very utilitarian looking, they make a statement about how serious we are about cooking and preparing tasty meals. The old adage "use the right tool for the right job" applies here--these are definitely the right tools for this "cook a lot couple"!

We are extremely happy with these pans, and expect that they will serve us well for many years to come.

Simple elegance, functional, it just works.I use it for creeps, omelette, fish (not at the same time).Cleaning is simple just rinse with water or heat slightly and wipe clean with a paper towel.Looks like a very old piece in a matter of weeks, really cool patina.

Wilton Armetale Gourmet Grillware

Wilton Armetale Gourmet Grillware Fry Pan, Round, 8-Inch ()I've always admired the Wilton Armetale products when I would see them in stores. They are very attractive so I was excited to get this griddle and try it out.

Upon receiving it, I first did a little research on the types of metal used in the production of this piece. I was a little concerned with the use of aluminum which I try to avoid for health concerns. I decided to try it out despite my concerns because I figured this would be used occasionally and not daily.

It fit right on 2 of my burners. I made a couple of grilled cheese sandwiches using plenty of butter. They stuck horribly to the griddle. It was quite a job to remove the stuck on food. This was just the bread itself sticking too and not cheese which is odd, I've never had a problem with bread sticking to my pans, especially since I used butter. I also tried making sautéed onions and peppers with plenty of oil. Again, horrible sticking and cleanup was a bear.

I've decided between the use of aluminum in the product and the sticking that I'm going to use this as a large and very pretty trivet and tray. I've found it nice to place on the table and set dishes on. I also sit it on my counter and place a lit candle on it.

Pricey for just a tray or trivet but it is quite attractive. I recommend using an old-fashioned cast iron griddle. You can't beat them.

()Saw this on Vine, and thought I'd get it to replace/supplement the workhorse griddle I've been using for about 10 years now. It turns out this is a bit smaller than your standard pancake-type griddle--about an inch or two narrower and shorter. That meant it didn't quite lay right on our cooktop--the burners were just about at the edge of each end instead of comfortably in the middle.

Don't get me wrong--this griddle looks a thousand times better than my old workhorse with its ugly rubber-coated handles. But, as I had suspected, those ugly handles serve a very important purpose: they make it possible to handle the griddle without searing your flesh off or using a potholder. I saw firsthand why this matters. To get some leverage while flipping the pancakes, I wanted to hold the griddle steady. While trying to flip, I knocked the griddle off its perch so that the near end--the one I was holding with the pothodler--was directly over the exposed flame of the gas burner. Ouch.

It turns out that this griddle is considerably stickier than my old workhorse, with pancakes, eggs, and butter all sticking to the surface--the latter despite two washings. So while I started out with high hopes for this griddle, it's just not functional as an everyday piece of cookware.

I saw that another user uses their griddle on this grill, and I might save this for that use, since it is definitely sized right. But for regular pancakes in the kitchen, I'm sticking with my old workhorse.
