This pan is really great!
The non-stick surface is very durable and even stands up to a metal whisk quite well.
The only bad side is the induction compatibility is delivered by a small, thin disk of steel in the base.

This was my second Calphalon purchase and the first non-stick.I'm not a big fan of non-stick, but this is great.Use it almost everyday. We have a Vegetarian Communist in our house and sometimes it is necessary to cook the same thing in two different pans...this comes in really handy when I want to leave something cooking while I concentrate on real food.Never had anything stick to this or burn, looks great too, have actually brought it to the table and served from it.Makes a great frittata, but be careful if you use it in the oven, not for use under the broiler. The handles get VERY hot.I knew that when I bought it, but just last night I picked it up without a pot holder and have the blisters to prove it.I can't believe I went all these years cooking without Calphalon, it's the best.Cleans up without any effort, a swish of the spongeand it's clean, or you could let the cat lick it out, nothing sticks to it.If you want what you're cooking to brown, this is not the pan to use, grab the hard-anodized for browningto perfection.Ciao!Read Best Reviews of Calphalon Commercial Nonstick 10-Inch Everyday Pan with Lid Here
I use this pan virtually every day, from 2 person stir-fry to successive omelettes, to re-heating a quick piece of chicken or hamburger or steak. It is perfect for 2 toad-in-the-hole or a succession of crepes.I use it to reduce sauces. It goes in the sink, quick swipe with a detergent sponge and back to the stove. It is probably the most functional pan I have ever used.Want Calphalon Commercial Nonstick 10-Inch Everyday Pan with Lid Discount?
I bought this pan based on the performance and construction of other Calphalon cookware I've purchased. However, as soon as I unpacked this one, it was apparent that the workmanship and finish was significantly below my other Calphalon pans. The pan rim was unevenly ground the lid fits flat, but looks uneven when the lid is removed. The polished lid has numerous tiny pits and marks not found on my U.S. made Calphalon.I suppose this is one of the trade-offs for the great price, although if I were Calphalon, I'd market the China-made line under a different name if they can't maintain the quality standards of the Ohio made line.I had previously purchased the 9" Commercial Nonstick Collector's Edition Everyday Pan with Lid from Amazon, which was made in the Ohio, and was very impressed with the contruction and finish. (It also works very well, but is a bit tippy on burners when empty.)
Cooking quality is fine so far. I hope the nonstick finish will prove as durable as the U.S. made pans.
The size, overall appearance, and dual loop handles allows this pan to work well as a serving piece on the table for casual dining.
West Bend 84915 5-Quart Oblong-Shaped Slow Cooker with Tote
The West Bend Versatility series is a quantum leap forward: non-stick metal pot that can be used to brown meat (any experienced slow-cooker knows what a convenience that is!); converts to a griddle if you don't have one handy; and has an infinite heating control from barely warm to just-short-of-boiling.
Because I'm a gadget geek, I made some tests. (First, please be aware that most slow-cookers typically peak at around the same point --somewhere between 180-210 degrees F, regardless of the heat setting. The main difference between Low, Medium, and High is how quickly the peak temperature is reached. Some of the more sophisticated cookers (the Versatility is one) have lower or higher peaks related to the setting. For the serious cook, these types are preferable).
My tests started with the pot 2/3 full of room-temperature water. I used a calibrated thermometer probe in the center of the pot. I put the cover on, but it wasn't seated where the probe wire exited.

I didn't do a time series on the #1 and #2 settings, but they topped out at 149 and 160 degrees respectively.
Remember that the Versatility setting is infinitely variable, so in-between heating speeds can be used. Also, bear in mind that these temperatures were measuring water only -cooking food may be different.
These ranges were relatively the same on both the 5-quart and 6-quart cookers.
Speaking of quarts, be aware that the "5-quart" has an actual maximum capacity of 4.3 quarts at overflowing. West Bend Customer Service still maintains that it's 5 quarts. The "6-quart" model is an actual 6-quart capacity. Practical capacity for cooking is, of course, less.
As other reviews have noted, there's no "off" setting, so you havee to unplug. However, the cooker end of the cored is unpluggable, so no big deal.
Other reviews have complained about the non-stick coating deteriorating. I refer them to the instructions in the manual, under the heading "Using Your Slow Cooker--First Use" wherein it describes how to avoid damage to the coating. I won't repeat it here -it's in the book. Also, note that while the coating is dishwasher-safe, it will last longer with hand-washing --a breeze due to the non-stick finish. Because so few users actually read directions, West Bend does not cover the non-stick under warranty.
All this said, the Versatiltiy is an incredible value for its price. It's a good example of how excellent design, engineering, and production can result in a quality product at very low cost. It's far and above any cooker I've used before.
4 stars only because it lacks an "off" switch, and the "5-quart" capacity is inaccurate and misleading.
Outstanding product and value!
This is my third West Bend Slow Cooker in 20 years.I got rid of my oldest one and now have two I use regularly. I ordered this one because it had a carrier tote; I take my slow cooker with me to covered-dish dinners and church socials. This is a nice extra feature, but I would have bought a West Bend anyway; I like the adjustable heat-not justhigh, medium and low. I use my slow cookers to thaw and reheat frozen foods, cook turkey breasts, and make soups. You can put ingredients in the cooker in the morning and come home to a hot dinner. This is a good product, easy to clean and can be used on the stove top or even in the freezer. I highly recommend it.

I got this because of a friend's recommendation about a year and a half ago.I was expecting more of a Rival Crockpot type of device and when I first opened it I thought this just is not going to work well.
I am really surprised. It cooks well on the range top, the griddle part also works well as a griddle, and when you put the two together it also works just fine.
I made a pot roast a couple of weeks ago.I first browned onions, garlic and carrotson the stove top. Then I browned the meat an all sides as well.Took that out and tossed a little wine in to mix it all up and then put the meat, the onions, garlic and carrots and bay leaves, rosemary and thyme in the pot.Added beef stock half way up the roast, set it on the griddle base, turned it to low and let it go for about 6 hours. It came out just right.Everything done in the one pot and just the way I like it.
Way better than the old type of crock pot in my opinion.Lots of uses in one device and easy to clean up as well.Could not do better and it was not expensive.

The only reason I can't give this product a 5-star rating is the color. (The picture on Amazon appeared white, the product box used for shipping definitely showed white, but the product is a matte-finish grey. I'm dubious about how it will hold up over time.)I ordered this product to replace the same thing, received over 30 years ago for a wedding gift. And the only reason I needed a replacement was because the lower portion (element/grill) was lost in a move! All of the original item still worked when last used. I can't say that for any other electrical item that old in my house.
This product has been so reliable and convenient over the years for me that I love to give it for wedding gifts! It's the best way I've found to both brown a roast stove-top, forget it while cooking low on the grill with veggies or beans, and still take the dish to another location. The additional tote I now have with the new cooker will just make transport that much easier. And I frequently refrigerate the leftovers in the pan with lid. Reheating on stove-top is so easy.
Great product!

Le Creuset 26CM Round Grill Cerise
One says it heats up quickly on medium or low heat. Um, no, it heats up pretty slowly, because it's a massive hunk of steel. Only 10 inches though, so you can't fit two T-bones on it, but it fits anywhere. The mass of this grill helps achieve outdoor BBQ style. It's a grill, not a griddle or frypan, so using it on medium heat is counterproductive. Throw it on a High flame for a few minutes before you try to cook. Yes, it will smoke. But you're trying to cook, not worry about air quality!
Another review says things stuck to it because it was not coated. Yes, it is. But things still stick to it because the cast iron surface under the coating was evidently pretty coarse. Oh, well. You don't scrub it with a sponge, you heat it up and plunge it under running water and the "deglazing" will lift off most of the gunk. Give it a scrub with a brush (no soap) and return it to the heat to dry. Total time about 45 seconds.
The third review said that fish stuck to it. This is possible. They used nonstick spray, which isn't all that ideal with nonstick or cast iron surfaces. But mostly I suspect the grill wasn't hot enough.
I, however, did ribeye steaks last night and they were perfect. Look on foodtv.com for Alton Brown's method and follow that. It's great. But remember: HOT!This is the first grill pan I have had that has not warped after the first use.The thin ridges leave a nice looking sear mark on the food and the valleys between are deep enough to allow the oils to run off so you are grilling and not frying. It is a fairly easy pan to clean and it looks great too boot. The one down side: it is a bit on the small side.A tad expensive but it is worth the cost.

I purchased this item as a "bonus offer" to another Le Creuset item I purchased, even though I didn't think I'd get much use out of it since I already had the Le Creuset double burner grill.Turns out though, I use this little grill more often than my larger grill, or any of my other Le Creuset pieces. It's the perfect size for grilling up a couple of chicken breasts, salmon fillets, or steaks when I'm cooking for just my husband and myself.I can also grill up to four burgers on it.Just like my larger grill, I love the cooking results I get from using this little grill, but it's especially handy when I need access to my other burners on my stovetop. It's also much easier to clean than the double burner grill. If you are just starting your Le Creuset collection, this is a definite "must have" item to your kitchen. And especially at the price Amazon.com is offering it, you can't go wrong!

I purchased this grill because it showed up in my daily "Gold Box" at a reasonable price.Inasmuch as I am an incurable meat eater, I grill a lot of hamburgers and steaks. As it's inefficient to fire up a charcoal grill for one little steak or hamburger (I don't think gas grills have the flavor), the skinny grill seemed a good idea.I usually just pan fry in either my dad's old cast iron pan or my copper bottom Revere Ware pan.Because I buy New York strip steaks and burgers with the lowest fat content possible, I have never had much of a problem with fat in either of my regular pans. But now, so I reasoned, I CAN HAVE SEAR MARKS!Not worth the thought; although I did not turn my electric coils up to high or anywhere near high, it seemed that the enamel on the bottom of the grill wanted to cook faster than the meat in the pan. (The enamel is still on my coils and it has been several weeks since I last used the skinny grill.) Further, in my opinion, the little handles on either side of the pan look nice, but were hard to grip when holding hot pads because they are TOO little. (With an electric cooktop, one obviously has to move the pan immediately upon completion of cooking.)As for the smoking pan, I did think that there was more smoke with this grill than with my usual pan but that was not my major complaint. If you like a steak that is "seared and rare" I don't think this pan is for you. You will end up with a seared and melted enameled grill.I did return the grill and, thanks to Amazon, it was received without question and no UPS return charges were applied to my credit.I bought this for quick grilling. For cast iron, the weight is fairly light and it is very managable in the kitchen. It was a bit sticky on the first use, but it has improved tremendously with use.I don't find it necessary to use the highest flame on my stove to get this hot.I am using closer to a medium flame, so I do wait a couple of minutes or so for the pan to come to temperature.I have no problem with getting the grill marks on the food.I used to own an electric Jenn Aire stove, and the grill on it was always wimpy. This little pan beats the old grill completely.I am very happy with this addition to my kitchen.
Mauviel M'Heritage M150B 6535.30 12-Inch Crepe Frying Pan with Bronze Handle
So I bought this Mauviel 12" crepe pan, which is 1.5mm copper with a stainless lined interior.Mauviel has 3 different handle options for most of the cookware stainless, cast-iron or bronze. For this pan, I could only find the bronze.
The handle has turned-out to be the biggest problem.First of all, this is a heavy pan, weighing nearly 4 pounds. The handle is just too thin it is barely an inch wide, and about 1/4" thick. It is just uncomfortable to work with lifting, rotating, flipping the crepes with this handle built like a butterknife. But, by FAR the biggest problem is that the bronze handle conducts a ton of heat from the pan up the handle.By the time I made maybe 4 or 5 crepes, the handle was so hot I couldn't touch it anymore. So I had to grab an oven mitt and use that for the remainder of the batch.
I don't understand how a company that has been making cookware since the Andrew Jackson administration hasn't yet figured-out how to make pan handles that are cool and comfortable to use??I NEVER have this problem with my All-clad.Why doesn't Mauviel redesign the handle, or at least offer a silicone handle sleeve to fit their pan handles? Is this the best they can do for $250?
So now I am looking for a silicone handle sleeve that will fit which is a nightmare because no one publishes any dimension on these sleeves, except the length. So it will be trial and error until I find one that fits properly.
On the positive side, the pan worked as well as I could have hoped: it resulted in beautiful, uniform, even browning and absolutely nothing stuck to the nicely polished stainless.Of course, being raw copper, the exterior quickly oxidized with a pattern of bluish/purplish colors in the pattern of the gas burner. It is relatively easy to bring it back to new with copper cleaners, but I'm not sure if I will bother doing that every time.I bought this for its cooking performance, not as an art object.
Update Aug 2012: I did find a silicone handle that works really well a 'black silicone pan handle for 14" pans' (product #806849) from US Foods Culinary E&S Next Day Gourmet Black Silicone Pan Handle 6-1/4"L For 14" Fry Pans that was very inexpensive. This makes all the difference in the world. WITH the handle, I will upgrade the rating from 3* to 5* it makes that much difference. Never mind the 1* review on the handle it fits perfectly on this pan.Perfect crepes every time. Great addition to kitchen and mauviel collection.
Easy to clean and use. We love love love it.

Panini Grill (Refurbished)
I have used both the Cuisinart and now the Breville so glad I have the Breville!
I used the Cuisinart Gourmet grill at my daughters' house and decided I had to have one. While researching I found this Breville and chose it because it seemed sturdier and more substantial; it stored upright out of the way; and it was about $25 cheaper.I made a great decision.I have had it about a month and have used it for toast, quesadillas, chicken breast, paninis, grilled cheese and I even cooked bacon strips in it! (Multiple settings make this possible.)I have a small kitchen and very few one-use appliances. This little guy stores upright out of the way but easy to get to...love it.
The grills aren't removable but they are still very easy to clean.I am thinking about getting one of these for my mom.Definitely would recommend it.

We first saw this model in action from a family member who had paid full price. We have been very happy with our grilled sandwiches. Thanks to Amazon reviews, we also found out that it is great for reheating pizza when you let the top plate hover over the toppings instead of touching like you do with a sandwich. The best part is that the top is hinged so that you can adjust the height. There were no signs that this was a refurbished item. We've had it for a couple of months and use it at least once a week.Want Panini Grill (Refurbished) Discount?
I had no problems with the product being refurbished. There were only a couple signs the press was refurbished (eg there was 1 minor scratch on the nonstick coating and paper manual was a little wrinkled). Otherwise, the press looked brand new. I believe this is the same press Williams Sonoma is selling at full price, so this is definitely a good deal. The panini press came with the manual and all the accessories (e.g., scrapper and tray). Breville makes a high quality, study press. The exterior print on the box stated 1 year warranty, so I assume it has the same warranty as if it were new.
It's very easy to use. I've used the sear setting to grill chicken breast, strip steak, onions, and red peppers. Then I set the dial setting to panini and make delicious panini sandwiches.
Cleanup is also pretty easy. However, you will use some paper towels in the clean up process. While it's still hot, I use the scrapper, followed by wet paper towels. When it cooled off, I clean with more paper towels.
I'm very happy with this panini press. It makes a great meal.

I love this thing. But I have two caveats.(1) I wish the lid were ventable.(2) I wish the handle on the lid were designed to reduce heat. It's a hassle to have to put on a mitt just to lift the lid.I use this pan just about everyday. The size is great for frying bacon because you can spread the bacon out. I cook meat dishes that need to be finished in the over, it is great for that. It cleans up with just a Dawn on a sponge and a rinse and it is ready to go to the next dish. I would definitely recommend this skillet and any other Cuisinart Nonstick Hard-Anodized cookware. I am giving an Cuisinart everyday pan to a friend for Christmas.
It's exactly what I was looking for and the price can't be beat. I was looking in stores for a simple skillet like this and I could not find anything that didn't cost a fortune. I don't cook very much, so for me it wasn't worth investing in very expensive cookware. I would recommend it. So far so good.
Ecolution Artistry Eco-Friendly Fry Pans
The nonstick surface of the somewhat more expensive Cuisinart Greenware did not perform as well as the Ecolution Artistry.
I am giving it only 4 stars because the environmental attributes of the product are not very impressive.Hydrolon appears to be a patented acrylic material that is made from non-renewable fossil fuels. Was looking for healthly choice in non-stick at a reasonable price; with good to better quality...i found it in this line of products. Beats competition with no questions. Was very pleased how well it is balanced and handling to flip foods and the non-stick is superb. The bottom/base is perfect and true to description--use on low, med and high heat with excellent results. I took a risk and it surpassed my expectations. Would recommend!(T-Fal, Cuisinart,P.D., Emeril, Ecogreenics, etc. are just a few I have tried)

I've already used this pan several times and IT IS AWESOME. It's big and got more of a cooking surface than other pans its size because of the way the sides curl/curve up. It's thick & strong, well made and an easy grip handle. I will look into buying another one of these, maybe the next size smaller.

I bought this pan on Amazon in May '12.
I use the pan 4-5 times a week and it is a great non-stick pan. The non-stick coating is still like new, and the pan performs like the first day I bought it.
I wish I could say the same for the rest of the pan. The handle started to get loose after a couple weeks of use, and I had to add a washer to the bolt that holds it to the pan and for now that is holding well. The enamel like coating on the outside (sides and bottom) of the pan is flaking off and the aluminum is showing.
I have deducted one star for those issues, but the business end (coating) of the pan performs so well, I would still recommend it.
Viking Nonstick Fry Pan
I was in love with this pan when I first got it for all he reasons the others mention. Great weight and angle on the handle, cooks evenly and truly non stick. However, I question how long the reviewers have had their pans before rating it. I've had mine a little under two years, and it's barely any more non stick than my plain stainless steel pan. I've never used metal utensils on it and there are no visible scratches or flaking, it just doesn't work as well. I've put it in the dishwasher but it says it's dishwasher safe, and I have burned a few things on it at times, but don't feel it should damage the pan to this degree.
I still liking Viking for stainless steel and other cookware which will last a lifetime, but it's just not worth shelling out $200 every two years for a non stick.

My wife and I love this skillet. it cooks evenly. Possibly the Best Skillet Ever! I wish I had two ;)Now only if I had a bigger kitchen haha.Viking's Belgium-made cookware is fantastic. It is build to last for generations and is designed to look and function superbly. The 13 Inch Stainless Steel Non-Stick Fry Pan is great if you need to cook for many people because it heats very evenly, non-stick surface is top notch. It is heavy, but it has to be with multi-layer steel and coating. Don't confuse with China-made cookware! Highly recommended, like all Viking cookware.I did a lot of research before purchasing this pan.I am over-the-top happy with it.
