The stainless steel is solidly constructed and easy to clean.The aluminum core goes from rim to rim.The boiling water test shows that bubbles are almost uniform along the bottom of the pan, so hot spots are not an issue.It's Night and day when compared to the cheap stainless steel one can buy from Target and Wal-Mart. I've used it for a couple of months now without discoloration or warping even though I add cold water to soak it right after cooking.
