BergHOFF Virgo 10-Inch Covered Deep Skillet, 3.1-Quart

BergHOFF Virgo 10-Inch Covered Deep Skillet, 3.1-QuartI originally bought this pan to replace another Berghoff 10" deep skillet that I had used for years and it was finally loosing some of it's non-stick covering. However, now that I'm using this new skillet I find that it is more of an upgrade than a replacement.I love the new ceramic non-stick interior.Nothing sticks and yet no Teflon! The lid holders on either side are an ingenious addition as are the built in strainer holes.Plus I love the bright vibrant color. Now if I could only figure out just how to remove the handle so I can put it in the oven...

I was hesitant to order this skillet as it was expensive but I was so desperate for a good heavy non stick skillet that I took a chance. And I'm so glad I did.It cooks very evenly and washing up is a dream.I simply wipe it with a paper towel and swish it in warm soapy dishwater and wallah! It's clean.I have a solid service cook top and it's heavenly to have a skillet that sits solid on it. I would order every piece that BergHOFF manufactures if I could afford it.The younger generation may not like washing it by hand but that's very little inconvenience for the beauty of the pan.

Buy BergHOFF Virgo 10-Inch Covered Deep Skillet, 3.1-Quart Now

A truly versatile pan! You can even cook pasta in it and drain water through provided strainer holes in the lid. The handle is removable you just twist the end of it and slide up or down, so you could bake something in it the oven. Ceramic non stick surface works perfectly, omelets just slide right out. This pan is made out of thick aluminum, so it's very light weight and makes a serious competition to cast iron pans that I used before.

I really like the skillet. Definitely nonstick. I used it for the second time today. Wasn't paying attention and food got burnt but it didn't stick at all. Slid off pan super easy. No damage to cooking surface. Propping up cover on handle was a great idea. However, as I was washing it, I noticed that the handle that props up cover was broken. Disappointed in an otherwise great product. Attempted to contact berghoff today for replacement. Let's see if they honor their 5 year warranty.

Poor product Poor customer service Would not buy again for half the price

Warning: First time reviewer here, but I use the reviews of products exclusively on whether or not to purchase products on amazon.com. I do not want any other users to go through the same poor customer service I did only to gain nothing.

I have purchased a set of Berghoff Scala Ceramic coated frying pans. I used the main 12" pan for about a month. As time progresses the pan started to stick. I contacted the customer service dept. that told me to deep clean the pan with baking soda and water. After it was dry add oil to the pan while slowly reheating it.I did this several times to cure my pan as suggested by the customer service rep. He assured me that it would take some time for this to work. This took place over 4 months after purchasing the set.I then got preoccupied when moving into my renovated kitchen. After dealing with my renovation I found the pan again. It was now 12 months since purchase.I had a new representative that made it sound like the guy I was speaking to previously did a poor job and was let go, which he was very rude. She stated they needed to find my files and reopen the review of my pan.She advised me to send the pan in so the warranty dept. could look at the pan. I had to pay shipping both ways but I figured they would at least get my pan back into good condition.Berghoff never called or emailed that they had my pan even though I sent a letter with the pan. After waiting a month I decided to email and see if they received the pan. The last customer service rep I had was now gone and I had a new one again. She had to find the pan again and pull up the files. After a reply from the newest customer service rep she stated that my pan was not covered under warranty.WHAT?

She explained that due to the color of the bottom of the pan I had overheated the pan and that the warranty was now void. I the dirt she cleaned on the bottom of my pan was on all our pans we had. We have a glass top range that we cool all our meals on. It does get dirty at times. I simply took a nylon scrubber to clean one of the other pans I had just to see how hard it was.I emailed back stating that her suggestion was not the case and that I wanted to speak to a supervisor.Three weeks later still no response.I called and was directed to the same person I was dealing with my emails. She said she brought the pan to her supervisor and stated that she agreed while refusing to allow me to speak to her supervisor.

The facts: Not once did I ever cook with the pan over ½ heat on my range top. I primarily cooked eggs, sausage, warmed up veggies, and cooked some fish. Mind you that I only used the pan 1 month.I hand washed it after every use. At first everything would slide out of the pan. The pan got to the point where I had to scrape it each time after use and then let it sit in soap water. THIS SHOULD NOT HAPPEN AFTER 1 MONTH OF USE!

Due to the numerous customer service representatives, poor service, and average pans I would never recommend anyone buy from this company. They did offer me a deal though, 50% off their retail of a new pan. That was almost the same price I could buy it off of amazon.com.

12" COMMERCIAL ALUMINUM FRY FRYING PAN - NSF GRADE

12' COMMERCIAL ALUMINUM FRY FRYING PAN - NSF GRADEWe had originally ordered a smaller version of this item and were very pleased. But, it was not large enough for creating dishes for company. This size is just fine and heats up well on the larger, standard burner on a home range.I am not sure I would want to try a larger one unless I had special burners.

Clean up has been easier than I thought, too.

It does what it is supposed to do just like most other such pans. No reason not to like it.

People on ships died from Heavy Metal poisoning in the past from lead, mercury, etcNeed I say anymore. These short term to long term side effects is no joke!

Cuisinart 655-35 Chef's Classic Nonstick Hard-Anodized 13-Inch by 20-Inch Double Burner Griddle

Cuisinart 655-35 Chef's Classic Nonstick Hard-Anodized 13-Inch by 20-Inch Double Burner GriddleI bought this Griddle for my wife back in July of 2002, it warped really bad after only a few week's of use! It's been put away ever since but this morning i found it & was going to fix breakfast for my wife & me, i guess i had forgotten how bad it was. I set it on the stove & it is so warped i could hold one corner of it down & slip my hand under the oppisite corner, this made me so mad i just had to tell other's about this product! I think i'll give it to my dog to eat out of. George in MO.

I bought this griddle after borrowing my friend's Cuisinart double burner griddle in April.I liked that griddle so much that I tried to get one for myself.Unfortunately, I could not find the older model anywhere so I bought this one. This current model just doesn't seem as sturdy as the original nor of the same quality. I'm disappointed.

I was looking for a big griddle I could more than one pancake (or crepe) at a time. This fit the bill. I have other Cuisinart pots and pans which are awesome, and so I figured this would be pretty good.Given that the negative reviews were both very old and kind of inarticulate, I did not worry about them.I briefly looked at the "green" one offered by Cuisinart, but the negative reviews on that one were pretty clear, plus that one was smaller than this one.

I have a ceramic-top range (a Kenmore something-or-other), and this thing fits perfectly over a front and rear burner.I've cooked a bunch of crepes using this griddle, and it works great, even on the flat top range; it doesn't matter that the bottom of the pan doesn't rest directly on the burner, it's actually a plus because the heat has a chance to get transferred to the entire bottom of the pan.

I haven't noticed any warping.I will definitely buy another one of these when I wear this one out.

I was looking for a griddle for a large stovetop and this was the largest I could find.

It worked well for the first use but after only three uses the griddle warped and now will not sit flat on my stovetop.

For the price I paid for this, it should not have warped.

Nordic Ware Pro Cast 10 Inch Saute Skillet

Nordic Ware Pro Cast 10 Inch Saute SkilletWhile Nordic Ware calls this a "texture-infused nonstick surface," this is not a nonstick pan like a Teflon coated one is. This should be classified as a "low stick" pan. For many things, you can cook without added oil and they will slide out just fine, but for tenacious stickers, like eggs, you do need a small amount of oil. Then you'll end up chasing your food around the inside of the pan with spatula, it's that stick free. As with all nonstick cookware, no metallic utensils or cleaning objects (like a stainless steel scrubby), please.

This pan heats up evenly and cooks well. There are no rivets on the inside to collect gunk. Cleaning up the inside of the breeze with just a sweep with a soapy sponge. It is oven safe up to 400°F.

The outside is a different matter. Cleaning the sides is easy, but the bottom of the pan is covered with little nubs (Nordic Ware calls this an "air cushioned bottom") that I guess are supposed to help distribute heat evenly. The pan does heat evenly so I guess they work, but cleaning the bottom is a real pain. If you get any kind of gunk baked on between the nubs it's darn near impossible to clean. If you're anal about this kind of stuff, this will drive you nuts! If you're one of those who likes to hang your spotlessly clean cookware on a rack for all to admire, this pan is not for you. Another effect of the nubs if you have a gas stove: when you shake the pan it doesn't slide over the grates, but "clunk" as the nubs catch the burner grate bars.

Overall though, this is a great pan. It's nicely balanced, heats evenly, and cleans up easily. Highly recommended, but just remember this is a "low stick" pan not a "nonstick" pan. Made in America is a bonus.

Purchased this pan one month ago to replace an equivocally priced pan (made in China) that was no longer non-stick.We've made cheese omelets, BBQ, and many other dishes, non sticking and wipes clean with just a paper towel.Completely satisfied and it's made in the USA.

Calphalon Triply Stainless Steel 12-Inch Stir Fry with Cover

Calphalon Triply Stainless Steel 12-Inch Stir Fry with CoverThis is a great wok. I own Calphalon nonstick cookware, knives and am very happy with the brand.I saw this wok on Amazon and bought it to replace a brand-nameless nonstick wok that I bought on a whim at a discount store. Despite what a prior reviewer said, I found this wok to be of good quality. The lid has a substantially thicker rim and is heavier than the glass/metal lids on my Calphalon nonstick set. The wok itself is not too heavy (which is why I bought it) and is big enough to make a meal for 4-6.I found it heated well and I was able to cook on a gas burner just-under-medium heat and my wok heated quickly and cooked the food quickly as well. I generally don't put too much heat under my woks (unless the recipe requires it)as I would under my other stainless steel pots as the wok always seems to cook very well with little heat. So I had no problem with hot handles as my burner was not that high. When I was done cooking, I left the remaining food in the wok as I ate dinner and the food did not stick to the sides as I have had happen with other woks.It was easy to clean with a non-scratch sponge hours after I had finished cooking.

Its been a week since I started using this pan and I absolutely love it! This was my first transition from non-stick to stainless steel, and so I was very uncertain about how the experience would be, whether stuff would stick and I'd have to use a lot of oil. However, its been much easier than I expected. From the get go, I followed other users' suggestion to heat the pan thoroughly before adding oil or any other ingredient, and it has worked very well for me. I've cooked all our family meals for the past week in this pan and its been great! Highly recommend it.

It is a well-designed and sturdy wok. I have gone through several nonstick woks by T-Fal and Calphalon.I have destroyed them all using them at high heat. This Calphalon pan is very sturdy and handles the high heat. However, even with preheating the pan before putting in the oil, I find that the food still sticks to the bottom of the pan.I think that like other stainless steel pans, it doesn't distribute the heat as well as aluminum pans or even a traditional carbon steel wok. Also, it came with a nice sturdy glass lid.I wish the lid had came with a hole to release the steam.

I am satisfied with it though. It is easy to clean.I would not recommend washing it in the dishwasher--it will scratch the outside surface of the pan.

Berndes Tradition Fry pan Set, Includes 9-1/2-Inch Skillet, 11-Inch Skillet and SpatulaShipping was fast & product is amazing!!!These pans are the best investment I've made. After cooking with these you are going to want to replace your entire cookware collection, like I did.Clean up is a breeze & everything cooks so much better.Plus, nothing sticks to the bottom.I use a small amount of nonstick spray & I'm good to go.These pans are a must have. Most definitely recommend this brand/product.

I found one of these pans in a Marshall Fields store many years ago at a very discounted price. When the pan bit the dust after about 15 years of everyday, faithful service, I replaced it with this set and am very happy that I did.

The pans have a nice weight to them and nothing, absolutely nothing ever sticks to them.

The only thing that is of concern is that the old pan did not have a wooden handle, and I was able to run it through the dishwasher from time to time.I am afraid that the wooden handles will not tolerate the dishwasher as well.

Precise Heat 6pc Stainless Steel Skillet Set with Steam Control Knobs

Precise Heat 6pc Stainless Steel Skillet Set with Steam Control KnobsMy wife and I are very pleased with these skillets we purchased online. We really enjoy using them, learning to cook the "waterless and "greaseless" way. When we grill meat on the skillet, we do not need to use any cooking oil. The meat gets cooked in its own fat. For vegetables, we find the cooking time shorter using the skillet, compared to using other pans or pots we have. In addition, the cooked vegetable retains its own natural sweetness. The skillets are also easy to clean.

It's truly the healthier way of cooking. On top of that, we save on the cooking oil as well as the gas.

I absolutely love these pans and wouldn't cook with anything else. I would recommend them to over any other pan on the market.

Frieling Catering Frypan

Sitram Catering Frypan with Helper Handle, 13.5-Inch diameterThe Sitram Catering line is among the world's finest. The pots are virtually indestructible (anything can break during shipping and it means zero about the brand) they are super easy to clean and they retain heat better than anything out there, even Le Creuset. The line comes in very small to very large sizes, something you will not see with other brands such as All-Clad.You have a very smart lid system which will allow you to have many pieces that share the same lid if you want.

I could not give a product a higher recommendation.Sitram is the bomb.

As a part-time chef I own and use lots of so called "professional" cookware.

The nice thing about Sitram specifically is the fact that most of their better lines do not have rivets.

Not having rivets through the cooking surface qualifies this cookware to be NSF certified. Old, dirty food

particles get caught up in the crevice around the rivet. This crud is unclean, and very difficult to really ever get out of the pan.

So next time you eat out hopefully your restaurants kitchen is using rivetless cookware! Sitram is the worlds largest commercial stainless cookware company for a reason. All stainless cookware has coloring after being used, especially on a gas stove. This is very normal. The main difference in the Profisserie line and more upgraded line is that the the base model has a stainless subbase under the stainless surface versus a copper base. As I stated at the beginning I own lots of cookware including quite a bit of AllClad, some very old US made Calphalon, and even a few French made Cuisinart pieces. Of all of these, I personally prefer to use my Sitram when possible.

I ordered this pan from amazon, and received the 13.5 inch Sitram Profiserie pan, which is a cheaper option without the copper bottom.I complained and they shipped a replacement, and AGAIN I received the Profiserie pan.Beware, Amazon has this item mislabeled, so I would not order it from Amazon.

The 13.5-inch diameter pan is just what I wanted, and I gave it all five stars.

However, I found that it does not fit into my home kitchen oven.It nearly fits, but not quite. The door almost closes, with about 1.5 inch more to move.If you would need to put the pan into your oven (for finishing or holding the food), here's what I know about the size.

My oven is a Kitchenaid convection oven. The convection fan's shroud intrudes a bit into the oven. The rectangular clear space available seems to be about 16 x 22 inches, though I have to estimate the 16 inch dimension because I can't measure easily where the door is when it's closed!

The pan's outside diameter is 14.25 inches. There are two handles, and the distance from one end of the loop handle to the tip of the long handle is 25.5 inches.

While I'm measuring stuff... the base disk is 11-1/8 inches where it meets the pan, and tapers to 10-3/4 inches diameter. The disk is 1/4 inch thick, but I cannot see how much of that thickness is copper.I don't see any copper color; it must be clad with something else.

It's big.I bought the comercial lid too.Unfortunately, neither handle is riveted to the pan.The long handle broke completely off during shipping even though the box that it came in was still in good shape. The spot welds were inadequate (downright crummy).

Pans without rivets are a bit easier to clean, so I figured I give this pan a try instead of an All-Clad.If the spotwelds had been up to par, I would happier.

Amazon was quick to send a shipping tag for both the pan and lid.Amazon quickly refunded everything including shipping.

Lodge preseasons its pans with olive oil apparently Heuck preseasons its pans with a petroleum based product or paint. As Iuse cast ironbecause I don't want the toxcicity ofteflon I foundthis appalling, i would rather use the teflon, at least that doesn't smell! The actualpan is nowhere near as smooth asthe Lodge pan ( for approximately the same price). The lidis not one piece but has thelittleknob screwed on the top. I fear the screw will melt if subjected to thehigh tempsthe rest of the panshould handle. The pan itself does not appear to be even some areas areclearly thinner than others. When I read the instructions for use it said to wash the pan in hot soapy water before use! Anyonewho uses cast iron knows that you never wash a cast iron pan with soap, unless you want to remove the finish.( washing it did not remove the finish, unfortunately). I would strongly advise against this product, Ifeel that the coating on the pan is not healthy,at the very least itwill ruin the flavor of any food cooked in it and willsend a retched smell througout your homewhen you firstuse it.buy lodge or or old mountainor something else..

Silit Fresh 9-Inch Deep Frying Pan, Lemon Green

Silit Fresh 9-Inch Deep Frying Pan, Lemon GreenIn my never ending quest to improve my health, I discovered that the nickel in stainless steel was affecting me adversely. I began searching for "nickel-free" stainless steel, and in a round about way, my Google Searches led me to the Silit brand of "allergy-free cookware". Amazon.com had the best price that I could find, so I ordered the 9 inch and the 11 inch "Fry and Serve Pans".

They are on the heavy side (they weight the same as cast iron). This is a bit of a challenge with the 11 inch Fry and Serve as I am trying to get the contents out and into a storage container.

I was nervous that they would fail to live up to the "non-stick" claim lucky for me, that fear was unwarranted. They are wonderfully "non-stick" (it is like cooking on glass). Clean up is a breeze.

And Wow are they Beautiful! The colors in my kitchen are yellow, blue and green. I may have to buy a pot hanger, and find a reason to buy a blue and a yellow Silit cookware piece so that I can display them coordinating with my kitchen colors!

Lodge Logic L8CB3 Pre-Seasoned Cornbread Wedge Pan

Lodge Logic L8CB3 Pre-Seasoned Cornbread Wedge PanI am very glad that I finally picked up this piece!I have several Lodge pieces and they are all very important pieces in my kitchen.

I would like it to be a little bit larger and was also kind of hoping it would come with some basic cooking instructions. But, since I am fairly experienced with cast iron, I didn't have a hard time figuring out the best way to use this pan.

If anybody out there is thinking about getting it, or has already purchased this pan and has yet to master it, here is what I have come up with -

1)Preheat your oven (I use 450F for cornbread).THEN, put a small amount ofbutter (or whatever fat it is that you prefer) in the wedges and kind of brush it around so that it will coat both the sides and the bottom.Put the pan in the preheated oven to get it nice and hot.

2)Meanwhile, have your cornbread batter ready to go.I found that it takes about half of the recipe that I was using in an 8" square Pyrex previously.Take the pan out of the oven (I have one of those Lodge skillet handle potholders that works great).IMMEDIATELY, spoon the batter into the wedges.I have found (through trial & error) that filling each well to about 3/16" from the top works great.Get it right back in the oven. For me, 15-16 minutes baking time seemed to be about perfect.

As long as you heat up the pan and the fat that you use in the pan (I prefer a little tiny bit of butter in each well), it will cook evenly and nothing will stick to the pan.I mean, there isn't even residue in the corners or anything. The pan looked clean when I removed the cornbread.I did this several times with identical results.

One more hint for the day If you want to additionally season the pan (I did this before the first time I used it), scrub it out and dry it VERY well.Place a thin coat of Crisco over every surface of the pan.Don't slather it on thickly, and be sure that the top surfaces don't have any excess (I gently run a paper towel over the top ridges of the pan). Preheat the oven to 400-425F.Put the pan in the oven upside down, so that there is less surface area on the oven rack, and leave it in the hot oven for at least anhour.Turn off the oven, leaving the pan inside to cool of its own accord. You will have a beautifully seasoned pan that doesn't have the residue that you get using oil.

This is the only pan that can produce a corn muffin that is crunchy on all sides. The finish alsoeliminates the need for seasoning the pan.Just be certain to lubricate the corners throughly.

I love this pan.It is good for all kinds of cooking, and nice and heavy.I have wheat allergy (celiac disease), and must use special flour when I bake.I find that this pan heats more surface area and gets the job done very well with the flour I must use.The cornbread (or cake or bread) comes out in very nice wedges.I definitely would order another of these pans!

First off, let me start by saying I'm a cast iron fan.I currently own two cast iron skillets, with plans for a third (I'll get to that in a second).I don't mind cleaning or seasoning them -it's worth it.

Second, this makes great cornbread. No real complaints there.

But this thing is ridiculous. The preformed wedges leave difficult-to-clean corners where food gets trapped and refuses to come out.Cornbread doesn't cause much of a cleaning problem, ifthe pan is seasoned and lubricated properly, but I tried making a version of a pineapple upside-down cake, and I was scrubbing melted brown sugar residue out of this thing with a toothbrush for an hour.

Granted, this is primarily a cornbread pan, so I guess it's my fault for trying something else in it (although the description does say "cornbread, scones, and more.")But I wanted to make this thing less of a one-trick-pony.

Which brings up another point. Most cornbread recipes I can find are for a 10" skillet (without partitions). Not only does that mean breaking out my high-school math book to calculate volume changes, it also means that cooking times change, particularly due to the additional heated metal of the partitions baking the cornbread from all angles. One recipe was done in half the time it was supposed to be.Granted, this can be a good thing once you're used to it, but getting there will leave a trail of blackened cornbread in your path -and several hours of scrubbing.

So bottom line: this does make some fine cornbread, but it's a unitasker if there every was one, it's tough to clean, and it will mess with your recipes.Personally, I plan on switching to a standard 10" cast-iron skillet. But if you make a lot of cornbread, don't try new recipes, and just want it done fast and easy, this will work out fine.

I bought this pan for making scones and while I have only used it once so far, I couldn't be happier with it!The scones baked faster and came out crisper than baking them on a cookie sheet.

Just a few comments on the use of this pan.According to the Lodge website, you should NOT put the pan into a hot oven.Instead you should first grease the pan, then put it into the oven at the start of the preheating, letting the pan preheat slowly while the oven does.Once the oven is hot, pull out the pan, fill being careful not to burn yourself, then put the pan back into the oven. This method was great for the scones, since they started to rise as soon as the dough hit the hot pan!

I had to run a knife around the edge of each wedge to get the scones out of the pan, but they didn't stick.I imagine as the pan gets more seasoned over time, the wedges should pop out easier.I have a cast iron bread pan that I have used twice weekly for 8 months now and all I do is tip the pan over and the baked bread just falls right out.

I cleaned this pan easily with a dish rag and hot water NO SOAP.Found the rag was easier to get into the corners than a sponge.DO NOT SOAK cast iron pans as they will rust.If this happens, as it has to me, you need to re-season the pan.To do this, first scrub off the rust with a rag or scrubber making sure todry the pan very well.Next you coat the pan with a thin layer of shortening, wiping off any excess. Then put the pan upside down into a hot oven (350 or 400 degrees) and bake for an hour.I put a sheet of foil on the rack beneath the pan to catch the shortening drips. When done, turn off the oven and let the pan cool a bit before taking out.Pan will be very hot!

I am thrilled with this pan and the fact that it is made in the USA is an added benefit!

Lodge Pro-Logic P14P3 Cast Iron Pizza Pan, Black, 14-inch

Lodge Pro-Logic P14P3 Cast Iron Pizza Pan, Black, 14-inchThis review is divided into two parts:

1. A short review for those who want quick info

2. A long review for those curious about the ins and outs of this great piece of cookware.

I have also attached photos (see customer images above)

SHORT REVIEW

Pros:

*Preseasoned

*Multiple uses

*Can be used almost anywhere

*Makes best pizza ever

*Heats evenly

*Won't stain

*Provides iron in diet

*Easy cleanup

*Made in the USA

Cons:

*It is 11 pounds (Not a con for me, but could be heavy for some)

Bottom Line:

Glad I bought it and would recommend it to anyone interested.

LONG REVIEW

What comes in the box:

*Lodge Logic Preseasoned Pizza Pan16 x 15 x 2.5 (** Cooking surface is 14 inches **), 11 pounds. The length of the pan from handle to handle is exactly 15 and 1/4 inches (38.74 cm).

*Recipe Card with recipes for: pizza dough, pizza sauce, muffuletta pizza, mushroom & sweet pepper pizza, herb roasted potatoes, & instructions on how to care for your cast iron.

Preseasoned:

Preseasoned is a great thing but realize what it means. It means that it is on its way to being fully seasoned; like 2/3 of the way done. Before you can get that true black cast iron slickness, it still needs one or two more rounds in the oven with Crisco or just cook a pound a bacon on it like I did.

Multiple uses:

*Pizza Pan

*Roasting vegetables

*Overall Baking sheet (bake cookies, breads, biscuits, fries, pastries, etc). Please note that flavors can transfer onto the pan so you may have to clean it between different uses.

*Griddle on stove for eggs, bacon, pancakes, burgers, hot dogsand similar items

*Stir Fry (Use it on one burner; the middle gets the hottest and it gets cooler towards the edges, just like a wok!)

*Broiler Plate for the oven

*Shallow roaster

*Tortilla warmer

*Crepe/dosa maker

As a side note I have used this in the oven at 450 degrees without a problem.Just remember that the pan will be extremely hot and any sudden changes in temperature may cause the pan to warp or crack so please be careful. For example, if I took the pan out of a blazing hot oven and ran cold water on it right away, it may bend or break. It always best to let the pan get to a manageable temperature before starting the cleanup.

Can be used almost anywhere:

This pan can be used on almost any surface; on the stove (I have used it on both gas and electric ranges), in the oven and under the broiler, on the grill (both gas and charcoal), even with a campfire/hot coals if you know what you are doing.

Pizza:

It makes the best pizza I have ever had.The pan heats evenly all the way to the center creating a perfect, uniform crust.I sometimes make my own dough but in a pinch I go down to my favorite local pizzeria and buy some dough from them. The pan can make crispy or soft pizza.

Everyone has their own method to making pizza and this is mine:

For crispy pizza:

Place the dough on room temperature Lodge Pro Logic Pizza Pan and put it in a 400 degree oven for 5-8 min.Once the dough starts to get firm, take it out the oven, spread out a half a cup of sauce, and evenly cover with cheese. At this point you can add whatever toppings you like (make sure meat toppings are already cooked). Bake for about 10 to 15 minutes until desired crispness.2 minutes before I pull it from the oven, I add a little more cheese so it is just melted and gives you that string cheese pull like in the commercials.(see customer image above)

For softer pizza, follow the same directions as above without first baking the dough.

I serve & cut the pizza in the pan.Although the pizza does still cook while in the pan, I noticed it basically keeps it warm until the last slice.I use a pizza cutter from the dollar store which will cut the pizza but will not scratch or scrap the seasoning off.If you cut your pizza in the pan, please be careful not to scratch seasoning. If you do, just reseason (see below).

Because it is cast iron, it won't stain like a pizza stone or get those burnt spots like aluminum does. Also, cooking in cast iron provides iron in your diet because the food absorbs some of the iron.

Size:

It makes a pizza big enough for 2 people with a good appetite (assuming they have a side dish) or 3 people with less of an appetite.Sometimes the pizza is so good I can eat the whole thing myself! Normally, I eat about 2/3 of the pie along with a side salad and I am satisfied--I do have a good appetite. If I had a large family, I would definitely consider buying two.Of course for you folks with the large family, try one pan first and then make the decision yourself.(The photos included above do have a US quarter in the picture so you can gauge the size of the pie).

Clean up & Seasoning:

After cooking, take a dry paper towel while the pan is still warm and wipe it down (if it is really dirty use a little water but I never use soap). If you use water, you can reheat the pan to get it dry. After it is clean and dry, spray it with Pam and then wipe away any excess oil.Place pan back in the warm oven or on top of the burner just used. That's it! The residual heat will reseason the pan while the oven/stove is cooling down.Food never sticks using this method. If your seasoning ever comes off, just apply some oil and bake in the oven; repeat as necessary.Be careful not to use too much oil while seasoning or you will get a sticky or gummy residue on it--this should be avoided.

An added bonus is that it is made in the USA by Lodge, so you can buy and use with confidence knowing this product was made here by a company with over 100 years experience in the business.Lodge customer service has always been super helpful and friendly to me.

So in conclusion, this is a great pan that I am sure you will love as much as I do!

If you have any questions or comments, feel free to post them.I check this post regularly and would love to hear from you!

I hope you found this review helpful. Thanks for reading.

Best pizza pan by far. And I should know, I've had several, including one of those round stones. Great baking, nonstick and like all cast iron, should last forever. One nice thing is the lip of the pan, no more pizza sauce or cheese spills. If you need one (or two) this is it, you'll never need another one.

This pan cooks wonderful pizzas! The iron holds the heat, and uniformly cooks the crust. It is just awesome! Since it is preseasoned, all you need to do is follow the directions, and you will have NONSTICK pizza every time! Remember, do not use soap with cast iron! Hot water is all that is necessary.(and a little vegetable oil rubbed in before cooking)... You will not be disappointed with this pizza pan, and it will last for generations~~literally!

Bought one of these a year ago, and used it several times. Really liked it non-stick, even cooking, makes GREAT pizza. This weekend I needed to make two pizzas, so I used this and a regular aluminum pizza pan. As usual, pizza was perfect on the Lodge. By comparison, the pizza stuck to the aluminum, was burned in sections and the crust was overly crisp. The aluminmum pizza pan got tossed and I bought a second Lodge Pro Logic pizza pan.

I am totally sold on the Lodge Logic and Pro-Logic lines. They are the workhorses of the kitchen. I have just about every pan they make in these lines, and while I have a superb set of copper cookware and stainless when it's heavy duty cooking, these are what I reach for.

Pros: easy care, easy clean up. Pour a little hot water in the pan when done and use a scrubber rinse in hot water, dry and wipe down with a very thin coating of vegetable or canola oil. Can take high temperatures without warping. Already seasoned (for those of us who just can't seem to get the seasoning of cast iron down pat!) Hefty, sturdy, well made. Get smooth and black after steady usage and proper maintenance.

Paula Deen 9-Inch and 11-Inch Porcelain Cookware Skillets, Twin Pack

Paula Deen Signature Porcelain Nonstick 9-Inch and 11-Inch Nonstick Skillet Twin Pack, Robin's Egg Blue SpeckleI like the way food cooks in these skillets right now, but they are not quite two months old and already they are scratched. The the only utensils ever used in them are the ones that were sold with the set.I love them now, but am waiting to see what they will be like in a few months.

Solid construction. The porcelain finish allows the out side to be just as non-stick as the inside. I love that they are not only great for cooking, but look great if left on the stove.

I purchased these pans for my camping kitchen kit....We were headed out on a weekend campout with my 4 girls and my old pans made the food stick. They are wonderful pans, nonstick, right size for coleman stove and cleanup was a breeze. The only minor flaw was they were dented slightly on one side.Only the llinch. But not really noticable unless you really inspected them.I will definately still keep and use for camping.Paula Deen has good quality cookware and I really like her stuff.

Paula Deen Signature Porcelain 9 & 11 inch Nonstick Skillet Set, Butter

I've been looking for an all purpose skillet set that is versitile and can distribute the heat evenly throughout the bottom of the skillet, these Paula Deen skillets are the best that I've tried and nothing sticks to the bottom.

Like most kitchens, mine has pots and pans from various manufactures, an after shot of my trials to find something that approaches the ultimate cooking surface. I must say this: They are the best that I've tried.

These are some of the attributes:

9-inch open skillet and 11-inch open skillet

Aluminum construction for fast, even heating; speckled, porcelain-enamel exterior; nonstick interior

Dual-riveted, rubberized, stay-cool handles; copper-plated rings for convenient hanging

Hand wash only; oven-safe to 350 degrees F

Limited lifetime warranty

But like most good cooks, you want a lid to preserve the heat, to help in the cooking process, and to preserve the nutrients in your prepared meal, sadly these skillets do NOT come with lids.

But do not fear, I found a perfect match to these wonderful skillets. These are Cuisinart lids, and they make a very good seal, fit like they were made for these skillets, and you can find them here at Amazon, Cuisinart 71-2228CG Chef's Classic Stainless 2-Piece Glass Lid Set.

What more would a good cook want, well I'll leave that question opened.

These Paula Deen skillets are a dream to cook with, even heat distribution making your job much easier and the clean up quick and easy as nothing sticks to these skillets.

An epicurean Bon Appetite

In terms of functionality, these pans do the job they're meant to do, which is why I kept the four star review. In all honesty though, people are buying these pans (and the other Paula Deen sets) because of how they look, which unfortunately doesn't last long. I used the set on a gas stove and the pans were discolored after a dozen or so uses, making them a mucky brown on the bottom and sides which were impossible to remove. The warranty states that discoloration is common. If you're getting these for their look, don't be disappointed when it doesn't last.

Nordic Ware Restaurant 7-Piece Cookware Set

Nordic Ware Restaurant 7-Piece Cookware SetFirst for the price you really can't go wrong. It would be a good "working set" for just about anyone.

Pros-

Cost, you really cant get a single pot for the price on Amazon for this set.

Non-stick surface

Good weight/quality

Cons -

The large stock pot doesn't seem to be as thick or heavy duty as the other pots/pans.

Lids are kind of thin, I would think the might get banged up some.

Long ship time from amazon approximately 2+ weeks. They tell you that up front.

Overall Again I'm trying to be fair, if your expecting some show pieces for you kitchen to display these probably aren't for you. If you want a nice working set of pots and pans you can't beat these for the price.

Update 12/08Since my review the price doubled on the Nordic Ware set. What was a great deal at $50 is just so-so at $100ish. Still a decent set, just not sure you couldn't piece together something else for the price range.

I love this stuff. Lightweight and non-stick.I use the largest pot to make popcorn. I make popcorn with olive oil and the Teflon is so slick that I never have to wash the pot with soap. I just wipe it out with a paper towel. Great value and supports American labor. The more money we pour back into our communities, the better. The economy is like a river. The more tributaries that feed it, the stronger the river or vice verse.

I just bought this cookware set and it's excellent! All of the pieces are of extremely high quality. The skillet and pots are good, solid aluminum; heavy enough to heat evenly but light enough that they're easy to cook with.I just tried out the skillet and made a wonderful omelette. This is excellent cookware at an incredible price.I'm going to buy some more NordicWare pieces.

We were shopping for a good set of cookware for a good price. The problem is that reasonably priced sets tend to be junk and/or have some lid gimmick making them impossible to clean. They also tend to have some weird size saucepan or tiny stockpot that forces you to spend more money and your stuck with a piece you don't need.

This Nordicware set is the ultimate minimalist set.Only the things you need, perfectly constructed. The pans are thick aluminum and super-slick.We have experienced no warping or flaking non-stick.We even abuse these pans by putting them in the diswasher. The rubber handle covering can be slid off for placement in the oven.I couldn't find anything indicating the oven-safe temperature, but my guess is 350F is safe.

The only complaint I could come up with is he lack of a 12" skillet.Fortunately, I already have a nice skillet and no need for a second.

It looks like the price has shot-up since I purchased this set.

This cookware is simply the best I've had in a long time. I was looking for some budget pans to supplement what I had. Boy was I surprised when I opened the box. At this price you better snatch one up for yourself! The non-stick coating in the pans is thick, not that stuff that flakes off after a few uses. The pots are heavy and well balanced. It takes a little longer for them to start heating, but then they cook well. They hold heat well and don't burn the food on the bottom.

Winware Stainless Steel Fry Pans

Winware Stainless Steel 14 Inch Fry PanI'm picky about my pans, but unfortunately bought this product without fully researching it, which I have now done after the fact. Before getting into that, Amazon originally listed this item in the shipping section as 20 pounds.I knew that had to be a mistake. They subsequently corrected this, and now that I have the pan, it actually weighs around one pound. My husband thought it was of a good weight for cooking; I think it's a little lighter than it should be.It's also listed as an 8 inch pan, but be aware that your existing 8 inch lids won't fit it correctly; I know because I had three different lids and thought that one of them would surely fit, but none of them do.

If you want to research this Winco (not "Winware" as Amazon has it listed) product or any others in this line, here is the web information:www.wincodwl.comI provide this because "Winware" is the wrong name (the label on the pan says Winco), and this pan doesn't come up easily on a Google search; you have to look for it.The company's toll free number is: 1-888-946-2682.The Winco product number, which you will need (not provided by Amazon) is SSFP-8.I would strongly encourage you to fully research any Winco products before you buy them.

The two major things I was looking for was the gauge of the stainless steel and whether this pan would go in the dishwasher. This information is not provided either on the Amazon page or on the product label, so I was hopeful for good news, but it wasn't.Most high quality pans are a level of 18 gauge stainless steel, preferably 18/10.This pan is 20 gauge. The lower the gauge number, the thicker the steel, meaning that this pan is thinner than most quality cookware. The customer service representative did say that this pan uses induction heat, if that is important to you.I did give it the acid test, making scrambled eggs with cream cheese, and it worked okay and cleaned up well. Also, this pan will tolerate the dishwasher.

From an appearance standpoint, this is a cheap looking pan. It's made in China, and it shows. The handle is riveted on, and I'm wondering whether it with stand up to normal use.I will revisit this review after I have used it for several months, but my initial outlook is pessimistic.Amazon currently has this pan on sale for $14.88.If I had this to do over, I wouldn't buy the pan at all, but having it, I think it's worth about $10 given the gauge of the steel and that conventional 8 inch lids will not fit it.

September 10, 2011 update:This pan has held up better than expected, although it does not get too much use.The handle is sturdy (no flex) and the pan's finish has held up through dishwasher cleaning.I still would not recommend spending the current price for this pan, however.

Good Quality pan.

I bought this pan in summer 2010, in spite of an earlier review.Maybe the product changed since previous review, but I find the current item to be of good construction. It's solidly made, and appears to use the high-quality stainless specified (18/10 grade top notch material).Perfectly acceptable for home use, low price.

EDIT:I forgot to say, 18/10 stainless means the base steel contains 18% chrome and 10% nickel (nominal). This is an expensive grade, and under normal use you shouldn't need to worry about corrosion for a couple thousand years or so.Also, the pan won't melt until you get it up to ~2800*F +/-.Good stuff.FYI

Buy Winware Stainless Steel Fry Pans Now

This is my second purchase of this skillet/frying pan (son wants one). I purchased this same one last year and love it. It is much easier to fry larger batches without spilling all over the stovetop and I found a lid here on Amazon that fit perfectly Danesco Gastronome Pro Stainless Steel 14-Inch Diameter Lid. I can't imagine how I lived without a skillet this large but now that I have used one, I will ensure I always do! It doesn't require a lot of heat. As a matter of fact, if you use too high heat it will cause food to stick.I have a gas stove and cook at the lowest setting but then I have no trouble. If you are used to stainless this pan won't cause you any trouble. If you're not used to it, now you know use lower heat!It is a wonderful addition to my kitchen.

Smart Planet PP-5 Waffle Cone Maker

Smart Planet PP-5 Waffle Cone MakerI love the waffle cone maker. The cones come out great! The only thing is, it gets so hot, that even with a mitt, it's difficult to open it up when ready.

I ordered this product on a whim one afternoon and wanted it the next day so I could make waffle cones for a 4th of July picnic. It came, and it almost conquered. If you've ever wanted waffle cones at home, this is a pretty easy and inexpensive way to take the consumption of ice cream to the next level.

The good: It heats up relatively quickly and its nonstick surface is easy to clean. Its instruction booklet comes with two recipes (original and chocolate). The original is pretty good. This appliance will smell pretty darn good if you don't leave the batter in too long. It makes for a good-sized cone, but can also do minis if you'd like. OR you can place a waffle over a tea cup or glass to make a waffle bowl.

Things to look out for with the APPLIANCE:

MESSY--as with most kitchen endeavors, waffle cone making is a messy process with any iron/method. With this product, make sure you have a towel or plate underneath it to catch any batter spillage. If you're putting in 1-2 tbs of batter, it should be pretty minimal.

HOT--Use a hot pad or towel to open the iron after it's done cooking. Have a butter knife or thin spatula on hand to remove the waffle from the iron and to place it on a towel on your rolling surface. Use the towel to roll the cone with the provided cone mold so it doesn't burn you.

Extra things about waffle cone making in general:

See above, because it's going to be true for most methods.

Try David Lebovitz's waffle cone recipe from The Perfect Scoop (available from Amazon) or Jeni Bauer's recipe from Jeni's Splendid Ice Cream At Home (also on Amazon). Finally, the best recipe I've done so far is actually Gluten-Free!

The above authors/ice cream makers give good tips on the process as well.

I'd recommend this product to anyone interested in making waffle cones for fun--it's definitely a hit with parties, family and friends. It is not, however, NSF-certified and if you're in the business of making ice cream, you'd already know that and be looking elsewhere.

Buy Smart Planet PP-5 Waffle Cone Maker Now

I used to work at an ice cream shop and love fresh waffle cones, so my husband surprised me with this appliance for my birthday.I was not expecting it to make restaurant quality cones, but I thought I would get some decent cones at least. The only thing great about this appliance is the batter recipe found in the booklet. After trying to roll over 15 waffle cones, I'm returning it immediately, and here's why:

The lid isn't stable and will slam shut on you at the slightest touch (burning hot!)

The front handle/ lip that is supposed to be used for lifting the lid is burning hot and you have to use an oven mitt to touch it.

The indicator light does not click on and off consistently.Sometimes it indicates "ready" when the waffle is undercooked, and sometimes it indicates "ready" when the waffle is completely burned and inedible.

The waffles that I managed to cook okay were paper thin and tore easily, making it very difficult to roll into the cone shape.

The instructions were not very easy to follow and seemed disorganized.

Like I mentioned, many of the torn waffle scraps I sampled were delicious and the recipe is right on.But that's where the good ends and the bad begins. Please, don't waste your money or put anyone in danger by operating this appliance.
