Maxam KT17 17-Piece 9-Element Surgical-Stainless-Steel Waterless Cookware Set

Maxam KT17 17-Piece 9-Element Surgical-Stainless-Steel Waterless Cookware SetI had a Townecraft home demonstation and thought it was wonderful. The salesman was great and really made me excited. Then came the price.I've bought cars for less than that!I started looking around for that same brand on auction sites and found it 1/2 the price, but still very expensive.I went to the waterless cookware site and decided to give Maxam 9 a shot.It took 2 months to get, but the pans are good heavy quality, very easy to clean, and keep the food moist.Waterless cooking, however, takes patience to get right and you are likely to burn some meals if you stick to the time guidelines in the book.I've had them for about two monts now and finally got rid of all of the old teflon and rusty pans...they aren't coming back.I've cooked with the Townecraft pans before and you aren't going to see enough of a difference to warrant 6-8 times the price.Maxam 9 (World's Finest) is almost as good and won't kill your budget. As Zig Ziglar says "It's easier to justify cost once, than apologize for quality forever"The price is more than what you are going to pay in WalMart, but the cost over a lifetime will be much, much lower because you won't buy pans again.

UPDATE:On exactly the 30th day of purchase, while cooking, the skillet lid valve fell out of the lid into my skillet.I am getting a replacement and hope it was just a fluke and not indicative of quality of every set.

2nd UPDATE: The replacement fell apart within 30 days in the same manner as my first set.The steam valve fell out of the lid into the pan.I am returning for refund.I do love the oil-less water-less cooking but will look for a set that will last at least a couple of years.

What is 304 surgical stainless steel? The 304 surgical stainless steel contains about 18% chromium and a higher percentage of nickel than "ordinary" stainless steel. The popularity of 304 surgical stainless steel is due to its gleaming appearance which lasts for the life of a product. Its excellent corrosion resistance is due to an invisible, passive oxide film that forms on the metal's surface in air. Sometimes 304 surgical stainless is referred to as T304.

All pans (not lids) are oven safe to 350°F.

I found the pans easier to clean than my 18/10 stainless steel cookware and almost as easy to clean as my 316Titanium Saladmaster.I wonder if those having difficulties followed the written instructions for how to care and clean your cookware:"In case particles of food become burned in your pan, fill the pan with hot water in a hot pan, cold water in a cold pan, and let soak. The scorched particles should easily lift off. If a stubborn burn has been created, partly fill the pan with water and bring to a boil.use a wooden spoon to remove such burned particles. If a stain still remains, it can easily be removed with a good stainless steel cleaner."I haven't had much burn in my pan because i am not frying in them or using over high heat, I am following the directions for low-pressure waterless oil-less cooking.

Overall these pots work as they should. They take some getting used re: how long to cook and overall I was surprised at how quickly they cook vegetables.I found that if I waited for the valve to "whistle" then the veggies would burn and overcook, so instead as soon as I see steam coming out of the valve I close it and turn down to simmer. That works well.Biggest problem is the round metal whistle piece that fits into the pot handle falling out into the food during cooking. This happens constantly and I've given up pressing them back in and just leave them out now.

I fell in "want" with the nifty "waterless" cookware at the state fair, and drooled for years at the demos, but just couldn't justify the $2000-$3000 price tag. I knew I really wanted stainless steel pans, something heavy-duty, and that waterless cooking would be a plus. After LOTS of research, and many e-mails and calls to various manufacturers, distributors, etc. I decided to try this set I couldn't even find a decent set of regular stainless cookware for this price, much less waterless. Worst case scenario would be that I would have a decent heavy set of stainless steel pots and the waterless part might be a bust.

But it wasn't. Right off the bat, I was amazed at how colorful and flavorful my vegetables were, in less time and very little water (waterless cooking should actually be called less-water cooking in most cases). The carrots were awesome! I can cook meats and vegetables in the same pot, sort of in layers, in less time than conventional cooking the steam control valve provides a sort of low-pressure pressure-cooker effect, cooking the foods in less or no liquid in less time. Meats sear to the bottom, then release as they cook, in no liquid and clean up is easy. Even foods that seem to be "stuck," like the little browned parts of fried potatoes, soak off in minutes and clean easily. Anything that doesn't remove completely in water comes off readily with a Brillo-type pad (hooray for stainless steel!).

Something else I appreciated was that the sizes were ALL good sizes for our growing/larger family of ten. So many sets include little pans as standard, then charge a fortune for add-ons like 3-qt saucepans, etc. This set gave me four saucepans, a pretty big frying pan (just under 12 inch), plus the biggest Dutch oven I'd ever seen, at over 7 quarts! And the smallest saucepan is almost 2 quarts, so it's actually useful. The egg poaching insert with easy-clean cups is a bonus; great for quick breakfasts!

I have had my pots and pans for over ten years and they get HEAVY use. They still look great and work wonderfully. These are the pots and pans my daughters want for their kitchens. We liked the set so well that we wanted to make

this cookware available to our friends for their kitchens.

Combine this heavy duty stainless steel set with a few Kuhn Rikon pressure cookers for a well-outfitted kitchen!

By the way, this same manufacturer has another line besides Steam Control, but the distributors I "interrogated" said the others aren't quite the top of the line that these are. These should be the last pots you'll ever need!

To use the steam control valve, start cooking on medium to med-high heat (don't use high heat unless boiling something, like pasta water). Then when the valve begins to whistle (like a teakettle), close the valve and turn the heat down to low and finish cooking. The 9-element construction allows you to stack cook with this cookware (although I have not personally tried this): Begin cooking on individual burners and when the valve whistles you can invert the lids to stack the pans to finish cooking. The handles are resistant to heat, cold, and detergents.

I've been amazed at how easy-release they are even though they aren't "non stick," and they clean up very easily. And if you think you can't cook eggs in SS, think again. I have photos of eggs cooked with a thin lecithin/oil film (like Pam) and I don't even have to touch the pan with a spatula to slide the eggs out. Just don't cook above medium heat.(The one thing you need to remember is that they arrive with a thin coat of factory oil over them, so you should wash them really well before first use or they could slightly discolor from cooking the oil all over the outside.)

I also use my Kuhn Rikon pressure cookers DAILY, by the way. The KR cookers and my SS cookware are a great combination.

Coleman 12-Inch Steel Non-Stick Fry Pan

Coleman 12-Inch Steel Non-Stick Fry PanBought this because I wanted a fold up handle for packing. The light weight and folding handle packed into the camp kitchen very well. The folding handle is sturdy and the the small opposing handle is nice. But I could not rate this higher because the non-stick material is delicate and not very non-stick.After one weekend camping trip, there were scratches thru the non-stick coating.I will use it until the non-stick surface deteriorates, but it will be replaced by frying pan with a regular surface.

I bought this for my annual camping trip and was very excited when I received it.It was nice and large, and the folding handle was a cool feature...made for easy packing. But my excitement wore off the very first time I used it.I lit up the camping stove and started cooking some scrambled eggs.It seemed fine at first, but as it heated up the middle became extremely hot and there didn't seem to be good heat distribution.I stirred the eggs using a soft silicon spatula (no metal at all), but the non-stick surface in the middle still started chipping off.So after just one quick use, the inside of the pan was already missing some coating and the bottom was also heavily scratched from sitting on the stove.I'm be throwing this pan away and looking for something else for next year's trip.

See title. The folding handle is nice, the size is convenient, and the extra handle is a good feature, but all the extras in the world don't make a pan advertised as non-stick fulfill its most basic function. It's also too thin to spread heat properly the middle gets hot much faster than the rest, and if you're cooking something you can't stir (like fried eggs), food in the center burns (and sticks) while the edges stay raw. I'm very disappointed and will have to replace this skillet soon, which is sad and needlessly expensive.

This makes a great camping skillet. Handle folds for easy packing and it's not too heavy. We also use it at home sometimes because it's light, non-stick, and with handle folded it doesn't take up as much room as a traditional skillet.

This camping skillet is as good as any kitchen product and can withstand the cook stove or an open fire although the bottom takes some elbow grease to clean if you cook over an open campfire.Pretreat with PAM if using a campfire.

Ecolution Elements Eco-Friendly 8 Piece Cookware Sets

Ecolution Elements 8 Piece Cookware Set, GreyI bought this cookware set because they were Ecolution, and the color green was what I wanted.I used them twice and the coating on the bottoms of the pans are chipping off.I don't know if this will interfere with how they cook, but I did not expect that this would happen after only using a couple of times!I just missed the deadline to return them by a couple of weeks, so unless I want to only receive a minimal amount of the purchase price, plus the cost for return shipping, I will just chalk it up as a "poor selection", and purchase another set.

BARELY a 2 star review. Looks nice, non-stick coating is excellent, the issue is with the general construction. Sub-par rivets and handles are poorly designed and sure to fail during regular use. Our Ecolution 10" pan is only 3 months old and the handle is already starting to spin, and there is no way to tighten it. Fine for a cheap set to give to a student, or someone furnishing their first kitchen, but this is low end stuff hiding behind a fake eco-friendly name/label. It is NOT eco-friendly if you have to throw it away 6 months later.

Do not buy this product if you have a gas stove. St handle started smoldering & melting the first time I used it. There is no warning on the package whatsoever. highly Disappointed.

I brought these pots and pans because they are PFOA free. Since the non-stick coating seems very durable, I'm very happy with that. However, the outer green coating stains and scratches very easily (as another reviewer pointed out). It probably does not affect the functionality, but those scratches and stains are very noticeable and I find them very ugly. Since I'm happy with other Ecolution cookware, I would just avoid these green pots and pans for aesthetic reasons.

****Update****

There is another probelm I would like to point out. The handle on the Ecolution frying pans gets loose very easily. I have to tighten the screw almost every other time I use the frying pans. It happens to both of the frying pans from the 8 piece set and also to another Ecolution frying pan I bought separately. So, I have to say it's a design flaw.

I was so excited to recieve these until I used them! These are nice starters only! They are too thin, and the bottom started to peel the 1st time I used them. They will have to do for now, but I hate that I will have to replace them soon! Good short term, not long term!

Fagor Induction-Ready Cast Aluminum 23.5 Inch Griddle

Fagor Induction-Ready Cast Aluminum 23.5 Inch GriddleI would strongly recommend looking elsewhere, unless you are only looking to cook in the middle 9" circle of this griddle. There is absolutely no heat transfer outside this area.We eventually bought the All-Clad electric griddle from W-S.We are very happy with that. It's an excellent product, but way more expensive...

This griddle only heats in the center!!

The center heats up to boiling while I can still hold my finger on the edge!!

How is anyone suppose to cook on the sides of this when no heat gets to the sides? What is the use of the 23" griddle when only 12" are usable. Very bad design, unusable in my view!

We just purchased an induction stove and needed a new griddle for pancakes. This product stated that it heats evenly. It has a circular steel plate attached to the bottom which works with the induction stove but only heats the center.Center pancakes came out fine but anything to the side didn't cook.Pretty much useless unless you want to cook right in the center, then you can just use your frying pan!

It's a large griddle, but there is only one induction heat surface in the center of the pan.It should have two heat disks so it can be bridged across 2 burners, which would allow better heat distrubution. As it is, only the center gets hot and the ends never get warm enough to cook eggs or pancakes.Very poor heat distribution.Would not recommend this.

as per other reviews, product only heated where it made stove connection, heat did not disburse throughout unit. I tried on 2 burners but disc on bottom did not make enough contact to activate burners on my Wolf 5 burner stove, maybe they should make a griddle with 2 discs underneath.

De'Longhi CGH800 Contact Grill and Panini Press

De'Longhi CGH800 Contact Grill and Panini PressI used to be a restaurant owner and chef, serving great toasted sandwiches from several commercial sandwich presses with flat plates and I really missed them after I left the business. After much consideration and reading reviews, I hesitatingly bought this unit due to mostly 5 star reviews. The Delonghi has a nice feature in the temperature control and overall build quality, however after making one sandwich I realized its serious shortcomings which I suspect is common to all grooved griddles.

I do not understand the consumer fascination or hype for grill marks on sandwiches just so that you can get that Italian "Panini" look. Grill marks may look cute but they are a functional waste for a toasted sandwich. The problem is that the deep impression made in the bread causes an uneven heating of the bread surface and ingredients underneath. I made a classic Rueben with rye, big eye swiss, corned beef, kraut and thousand island dressing. The ridges pushed deeply enough into the bread to cause the cheese to melt through the bread where the untoasted surface was between the grooves. So the grooves were toasting but not the between where the cheese soaked through. ALso consider that rye is more dense than typical sandwich bread and it still did not withstand this process. The sandwich ended up a soggy mess within about 3-4 minutes and would not come out of the press very easily due to the deep grooves where the softer bread "gave up" and simply started falling apart from being soaked. So I returned the unit, unsatisfied with the results.

I then promptly replaced Delonghi with my second choice for which I should have trusted my initial instincts. I got the Breville unit because it is about the only one on the market that has flat griddle plates top and bottom for a truly even toasting over the entire surface of the sandwich. The heat level is perfect and the surface area is larger than the Delonghi and it will actually accommodate 4 sandwiches at one time. The bottom plate features a raised lip around the perimeter to contain ingredients that may run out or for cooking meat. You can leave the sandwich in longer than the Delonghi to allow a more crusty surface if desired or more heat to the interior ingredients without burning anything. It is very forgiving on cook time so it would be hard to ruin anything cooked in it. I have also found it wonderful for cooking hamburger patties. And it does it very quickly. A third to half pound pattie will cook in 3-5 minutes, cooking both sides at one time. Not to mention that my Rueben now comes out perfect. I have also cooked Tyson marinated chicken breasts in it, with great results. And will next try sirloin steak cuts, which I am sure will yield excellent results.

The Breville also has a stair step slider lid support on the side handle to allow you to set variable thicknesses for ingredients to avoid smashing your panini or toasted sandwiches to cardboard thin slices of bread. Also allows for great pizza reheating to crisp the crust on the bottom plate and setting the lid to the open "radiant heat" melt position, hovering to warm the topside ingredients while the crust does its thing. All in all, a much superior choice unless you like "tire rut" sandwiches. I am very impressed with this unit which performs as well as the $600 commercial units we used in my restaurant.

This is my first Panini Grill and I wish I had bought it sooner. I looked through many of the Panini Grills that Amazon has to offer and, in my opinion, this was the best. I have now had it for about 2 months, and am probably using it 3-4 times a week.

WHY I LIKE IT:

Using French loafs or Hoagie bread, my sandwiches take about three minutes to make. I turn on the grill while I am preparing the sandwich, and there is an indicator (near the middle of the handle) that lights up when the press has reached your desired temperature (which is controlled by a dial near the handle). Cheese very frequently oozes out, but that's a never a problem with the nonstick surface. A quick wipe afterwards with a damp towel and it is clean.

The ridges on the press are just the right size. Deep enough to make those beautiful grill marks, but not too deep to make cleaning a hassle. The distance between them was just about right too.

The whole press feels very sturdy. I have had no problems with the handle as some other people have. The top part is heavy enough and presses the sandwich firmly. A lot of the other grills (like the famed Foreman) are too light and I worry about their ability to firmly press my food. I haven't used them though so I may be wrong.

It has a "drain" on one corner and comes with a separate cup for catching runoff. I assume this is for grilling meats and catching the oil runoff, but I have not used it for meats. I don't think it is a good idea to use the same surface for raw meat and sandwiches. If you also use it for meat/chicken, make sure you wash it afterwards rather than just wipe it.

It looks great and matches the rest of my stainless steal equipment.

WHAT I WISH IT HAD:

An on-off switch would be so convenient. You have to use the plug. This is the only reason I cannot say this is a perfect machine. I wish I could give 4.5 stars, but four will do.

Had the Krups model FDE312-75 for about 3 years before it decided not to turn on one day -so to replace it, thought I'd try something different.Went with the DeLonghi this time, about $20 cheaper.I loved my Krups, and initially thought I'd like the DeLonghi a bit better. Here's my experience:

*Krups always "sparked" at the outlet when I unplugged it. Not so with the DeLonghi.

*DeLonghi has adjustable heat, so, although I only used the Krups for Panini, I'm kind of excited about the options I now have with the DeLonghi.Might try a burger or chicken! It also has a channel where the grease can run off -and a little cup to catch the grease. If you'd ever use the Krups for anything other than a sandwich -the grease would have no where to go.

*DeLonghi has wider channels on the grill plate -which make it a lot easier to clean up. But the panini does NOT get as crispy as it does with the Krups...for specifically that reason.

*The Krups latch, meant to hold the top & bottom together so you can store it on its side, was flimsy and broke after a week.It latched when I didn't want it to -and wouldn't when I did.(A minor thing, but it got to be annoying.) There seems to be no threat of that happening with the big latch on the DeLonghi.

*The DeLonghi is kind of "chunky" -it takes up more space when stored on its side than the Krups. The Krups also has a slightly bigger grill surface.

There's my 2 cents.Happy sandwich-making!

I'm glad I had previously read a customer review explaining it has no on/off switch.Because an insurance adjuster had explained to me a long time ago that repeatedly pulling an electrical cord out of an outlet while the appliance is on ultimately causes house fires to start at that outlet, I went to Radio Shack and purchased a plug-in, dual on/off switch with outlets (about $7.00).The Radio Shack device's on/off switch lights up when the appliance is on, so you know whether you've turned it off.Otherwise, I love the appliance; my husband uses it frequently to make hot sandwiches, and it's easy to clean with a damp paper towel.Melted cheese turns crisp and comes right off the grill with no problems. It's a great product with multiple heat settings, a "ready" light to let you know when it's reached the desired heat, and my only complaint is that the engineer needs to be shot for not putting an on/off switch on the device.

I have had my panini maker for a year now, and have used it sparsely, up until now.Since I've been using it more, I now wish it had closer 'ribs', as I think this would cook the sandwiches more evenly and quicker (as in the Krups).

The directions that came with it were not very clear, and the positions of the lid was 'reversed'; I had quite a time getting that clear from the manufacturer. And it was supposed to come with a 'comprehensive' cookbook; the one that I eventually had to send away for was just a small one, not what Ihad expected.Being a first-time user, I needed all the tips and recipes I could get!

A plus is that it does have variable heat settings.

I wish it had an on-off switch! You have to pull out the cord to cut it off!For something this expensive, I expect better quality!

Also, the locking mechanism that keeps the two parts together keeps locking together when you don't want it to very annoying!

Kalorik WM 30821 Rotate S.S Waffle MakerI purchased this waffle maker because I used one similar at a hotel. This model is terrible. It is really hard to get the handle lined up to shut it tight, difficult to swivel, & cooks unevenly. It's almost all plastic & the metal is cheap cheap cheap! Farberware Classic Stainless Steel 10-Piece Cookware Set

Farberware Classic Stainless Steel 10-Piece Cookware SetI have always liked the Farberware cookware for over 30 years. The steel pots are perfect. I am not crazy about the non-stick ones, wish they had covers too, and a bit heavier. Besides, I don't care for non-stick surface as much because it could leave toxins after a scratch. I like the glass lids, they are easier to clean. The size of most pots in this set is fairly small which you may not realize from the size provided in quarts, but appropriate for a small household's kitchen. Overall, it's a pretty good quality set for the price compared to all those other brands with highly inflated prices.

I love the farberware cookware.the pots are perfect.some lightweight pots my wife purchased actually warped and thus rattled on the stovetop.since i am the cook, it drove me crazy.i threw them out in less than a month.the only "problem" and the reason for 4 not 5 stars is the non-stick pans. I hate the non stick surface because they scratch and can leave toxins in the food .cant convince my wife that you must use wooden utensils, so i just threw them out

I have owned my Farberware for 12 years and love it.It was made in the USA. So when I wanted to get cookware for my daughter, Farberware was my 1st choice.I ordered a "10 piece classic set" from Amazon(They sent it through another shipper but it came on time and was well packed)

When the set came my daughter cooked oatmeal in the small sauce pan for 3 mornings and noticed the finish on the bottom of the pan was chipping off I called the plant and they said that they would replace it. Before I could send it back we used one of the larger pans and noticed it had a small chip in the bottom and was discolored on the sides and bottom. I looked for the warranty which said it was "limited lifetime" but didn't cover discoloring and a lot of other things. This was STAINLESS STEEL. It didn't say what was meant by "lifetime" so I guess it was the lifetime of the pan, which was 3 days in this case.I then checked to see where it was made and it was Thailand. I called the plant again and they don't make anything in the USA anymore.I boxed it all up and returned it.I learned most cookware is made overseas now, so I don't know what to buy. But it won't be Farberware. It is a bunch of junk! I'm hoping some other factories overseas are better, they couldn't be any worse.

Chef King 7 Gauge Steel Griddle, 14 Inch x 23 Inch

Chef King 7 Gauge Steel Griddle, 14 Inch x 23 InchThis is the cooking tool I've been looking for!I have been updating my kitchenware for the past couple months, throwing out the cheap non-stick cookware and buying some shiny new stainless steel pots and pans.I spent lots of money on a full set of Demeyere Atlantis cookware and now I'm regretting the purchase of some of those items because of the utility I get out of this griddle.

I had so much fun cranking out pancakes with scrambled eggs for the whole familylike a pro plus I got to eat at the same time as everyone else, hot pancakes and eggs for dad! This was large enough that I could cook everything at the same time and not have to cook the food in batches.

This griddle is heavy duty as people say, it is 7 guage steel which seems equivalent if not thicker than the Demeyere 7-ply clad cookware. This means it's heavy and a pretty even distribution of heat even though I've got it on one large burner and one small burner on the stove inside. It's not perfectly distributing the heat, but much better than the Lodge cast iron I was previously using for pancakes. When I cook on the grill outside, this griddle is perfectly heated by the gas burners for a completely even cooking surface.

I love that this is NSF certified, and made in the USA for an extra comfort level that it is safe to eat from.

I have kept this griddle out on top of my stove because it doesn't quite fit inside the oven for storage. At first I was disappointed that it just barely by a fraction of an inch didn't fit in the stove, but now I find it very useful to just turn on a burner and cook what I need without having to bring out any pans.

After only 3 uses, it developed a nice black non-stick seasoning which is smoother than my 10 year old lodge cast-iron skillet. The other day I cooked some scrambled eggs and used a flat metal spatula to scrape every little bit of eggs off the griddle. No sticking, no mess and no wasted eggs!I then used a little oil on a paper towel to wipe off the surface and that was it, no need for any further cleaning.

I'm now looking at buying a heavy duty carbon steel fry pan because of this great experience with the griddle. I may even trade both in my shiny new stainless steel Demeyere skillet and my Lodge skillet for a carbon steel fry pan.I wish Chef King made a whole line of cookware!

I bought this griddle to replace several other griddles I had.The other griddles were not heavy enough, didn't get hot enough, the non-stick coating chipped and peeled, they did not fit over the stove burners and the handles got dangerously loose after use.The Chef King griddle is heavy, gets very hot, fits over the burners nicely and the handles feel very secure.Although this griddle does not have a non-stick surface, it is not hard to keep clean and maintain. I really enjoy cooking on it.I have not used it for outdoor cooking but can see how it would work out nicely there too. Very sturdy!

I have been looking for a flat bottom griddle this size for years. Most of the others in this range always have a raised grill on the other side but in addition to camping, I wanted to use this griddle over two elements of a flat top stove and with the very thick steel, it spreads heat evenly enough and sits perfectly flat. It is large enough to cook a big breakfast or a load of pancakes all at once. The raised sides are higher than most at 3/4" so keep slopping over the side to a minimum. It took seasoning well. Excellent griddle.

I've owned this griddle for a year or so...buy this, and you will never need to purchase another griddle again, ever!Everyone who sees mine asks,"Where did you get that!" It's like having a professional griddle covering my gas stovetop, like you might see at the neighborhood burger joint. It's incredible...it cooks perfectly...cleans up effortlessly...and is indestructable.I am actually amazed that this product is not sold in any store I've ever seen...it's not at Target...not at JCPenney's...not at Sears...not even at the higher priced cooking stores probably because once you purchase this, you won't ever need another one again, unlike the non-stick junk sold everywhere which gets easily damaged. It shouldn't be so hard to find chemical free cookware...but be happy when you do...this griddle is worth every penny!

I may be crazy, but I like stainless steel type cookware. Those non-stick pans end up scratching no matter how careful you are with them and your family ends up eating some of the coating.I am sure it cannot be good for you. This product is stainless steel. No coating you use OIL or BUTTER to keep the food from sticking.Yeh, I know that adds calories to the food. But, it is better than eating the coating from a non-stick pan.

That said, this grill is huge and heavy. It is used almost daily at my home and is holding up well.

If you are a wimp, do not buy this grill. It is very heavy, but, you can tell it will NEVER break. It hasn't warped or anything.Anyway, I like to find the positive in things. The weight has some advantages. If you can lift it...it makes an excellent weapon to hit people over the head with!

Bialetti Arte Collection Cookware Saute Pan

Bialetti Arte Collection Cookware Saute PanMy original set of Bialetti pans purchased seven years ago at Costco were made in Italy, and I love them. This pan was ordered to replace one of the pans thatis used frequently and is showing its age.Unfortunately, not only isthe newpan made in CHINA, but the side wall and base plate thickness is thinner. My email inquiries to Bialettiremain unanswered to this day, so I have no choice but to believe that their quality appears to have degraded.Lookslike another corporation has succumbed tofarming outtheir product manufacturing, as well aszero customer service.Makesme wonderhow they would back up their so calledLifetime Warrantyif put to the test when they don't even bother to respond to a simple inquiry.Good news is thatAmazon quickly refunded my money when I sent this cheap product back.

This is a great pan. My friend bought me this set awhile back and it has been perfect. My son recently bought his first house so I went searching online to find the same set years later. I found it only from one vendor on Amazon, so I snatched it quickly! This pan didn't come with the set so I purchased it separately because I knew it would come in handy. Make sure to buy the 8inch pan as well, that is the one we use the most for eggs, grilled cheese, pancakes, etc.

Calphalon Contemporary Stainless-Steel 2-Quart Chef's Pan with Glass Lid

Calphalon Contemporary Stainless-Steel 2-Quart Chef's Pan with Glass LidFirst of all, in case you're concerned, let me say that the quality of Calphalon's stainless cookware has greatly improved as they have recently made the switch from not-so-good impact-bonded stainless bottom (Simply Stainless) to a tri-ply construction that's on par with All-Clad.

As a result, this pan offers very good heat retention and distribution (i.e. no hot spots), and clean-up is a breeze. Since I got this pan, I have been using it for every thing from small batches of soup, cheese sauce for mac'n'cheese, spinach filling for spanakopita... And with that rounded bottom, I cannot wait to make risotto!

Also, the glass lid fits very nicely and makes it easy to watch what's going on inside your pan.

This is not just a great value for the price -it's a great pan, which just happens to have an unbeatable price.

This item is a great starter to the Calphalon Contemporary Stainless Steel cookware line. It's a solid product that looks great and functions as it's pricier siblings. Cooking with this has been a pleasure and don't be surprised if you end up buying the rest of the cookware in the series. I should not that the pot gets hot very fast and the handle can be hot but is rather cool towards the end.

If you have a hanging pot-rack, then this would make you very happy.

One last thing, if you were wodering why the item is so cheap, well, it's meant to hook you into buying more... It has the same build quality as the rest of the cookware in the line.

I've had this pot for about a month now, and use it often. The handle on the pot stays cool, it's a great size, the shape is perfect for stirring, the see-through lid is wonderful, and the price is excellent. My only complaint is that it's been hell to clean.I don't have a dishwasher, so I scrub (and scrub and scrub) by hand, but there always seems to be a thin film of whatever food I was cooking stuck to the bottom (even with overnight soaking), and the inside becomes weirdly discolored even after I clean it, from doing non-messy things like boiling pasta.Bar Keeper's Friend helps a bit, but this pot literally takes me 15 minutes to even get it passably clean (forget new-looking/shiny).

This pan caught my eye because it's so attractive and it had a great price. The glass lid is a plus, too. It's wondeful, I used it to cook rice the first time I used it and the water boiled so quickly, a fraction of the time it takes with the other pans we have.Cleaning the pan was very simple, didn't have the use an SOS.The only complaint I have is that the bottom was already discolored after one use with a blue-green pattern.

Swiss Diamond Induction Series 11 Inch Open Fry Pan

Swiss Diamond Induction Series 11 Inch Open Fry PanI have owned two of these pans for just over a year. Use them almost daily. High quality interior and exterior. I hand wash immediately after use. Bought them for my induction cooktop in another state. Now in another house where I use them on electric cooktop. I bought the glass cover as well. Absolutely tremendous pans. By the way, I do not use oils or grease or Pan just water or broth. I have learned to let ingredients get to "dry" and then add some water gives the same brown color and flavor as using oil, without the calories and greasy feel to foods. I highly recommend this pan

My husband and I bought this frying pan because we do a lot of cooking and go through the cheap ones in just a few short weeks. Even the more expensive pans usually start to lose their non-stick coating in a month or so. We were a little apprehensive about spending so much money on one frying pan, but it is well worth the cost. I highly recommend these pans for anyone who does a lot of cooking and gets tired of replacing their cheaper pans.

For a number of reasons, I enjoy my smooth-top stove. However, I found it important that my pots and pans have smooth bottoms, fully touching the burner to provide even heat. Needing a big frying pan that would produce nice, even-color pancakes (for instance) on a smooth-top stove, I first researched cooking sets on Consumer Reports. I found that Swiss Diamond cookware did very well on their tests. The price is high but decided the purchase was for long-term use, when quality pays for itself. Since purchasing this pan, I've found it lived up to my cooking expectations and enjoy the bonus that it is very easy to clean. It is a little on the heavy side but I don't know of a lighter weight pan that would heat as evenly.I am considering replacing some of my other cookware with this brand when and as my budget allows.

Got my 11 Inch Open fry pan in September 2012.Yesterday, 12 Dec, noted that small blisters were starting to appear on left side of pan.Have called their customer service several times to get answering machine.Have also sent e mail but that may take a few days to process.Never used the pan on any hoter surface hotter than slightly above medium and of my skillets I use this one very little as cooking for two use more an 8 inch to 10 inch pans.So out of 14 weeks have had pan we have been out of country 4 of those weeks.Have special pans for high heat cooking.By buying this pan I did break a rule I have about non stick, and that is buy cheap and throw away after one year.My first impression of this pan was GREAT, but now I am going to wait and see what they do about it.If this is just a one in a million factory defect and they handle it in professional manor then I may upgrade my current impression

BergHOFF Touch Screen Single Induction Cooktop and Scala 10-Inch Deep Skillet

BergHOFF Touch Screen Single Induction Cooktop and Scala 10-Inch Deep Skillet ()I'd give the pan a "5" and the induction burner a "3".

The ceramic pan is great! For those of us who are health conscious it is very difficult to find a "non-toxic" pan that is easy to clean. This ceramic pan appears to be the ideal solution. This is a very nice high quality construction pan.It is fairly heavy. The ceramic surface in theory doesn't leach any toxins into the food you are cooking.Cleaning is a breeze as it wipes clean with a light touch.

The induction burner is a very cool piece of technology.Of course it only works with pans which will respond to a magnetic field (iron or some steel pans).

On "standby" the induction burner pulls 0.37 amps, so do follow the instructions and unplug it when you are not using it.

When drawing power it pulls 900 watts (I never tried it on full power). The default setting of "5" is equal to "270" degrees (far above boiling). They warn you not to use full power (450 degrees) for more than three minutes.

The instruction manual is one of the weakest points, it clearly was written by someone that doesn't fully understand English. In several places it just plain doesn't make sense. The company is Belgian but the unit is made in China. The unit itself is easy to use and the instruction manual isn't really necessary.

One of the best features is the instant responsiveness to temperature changes, it's like cooking with a gas stove top.The delivery of energy is extremely fast. You will feel like you are "instantly" cooking (instead of waiting for a heating element to warm up).As a test I was cooking at "210" and I decreased it to "180", the heater immediately responded by cutting power usage to only 5 watts as it cooled (power usage returned to 900 watts when it detected it needed to heat back up).

It isn't silent, the cooling fan built into the burner makes a fair amount of noise.

It's large and heavy, thus it will be hard to store. If you had the counter space it would make sense to leave it sit out on a counter but you have to remember to plug the unit in when you want to use it (and unplug it when you are done).

Perhaps my biggest disappointment is not having finer control of the power settings. The settings (according to the manual) are: 150, 180, 210, 240, 270, 300, 330, 360, 390, 420, 450.Essentially this is 150 to 450 in 30 degree increments.Since in my opinion there is no reason to cook above 212 degrees (boiling), I would prefer if this ranged from 110 degrees to 240 degrees in smaller increments.

I do question the safety of using such a strong magnetic field. The manual warns anyone with a pacemaker to stay a minimum of 23 inches away.

The manual says it has a "short" power cord, but the power cord is actually quite long!

All in all this is an excellent product.

()The package contains the cooktop and the skillet, packaged separately. The skillet requires a bit of assembly and if you aren't used to putting the handles on your pot, it can be confusing. And the instructions left much to be desired (the skillet assembly instructions only included pictures which weren't all that clear) and the cooktop instructions made me wonder if someone had poorly translated it from another language.

That aside, I got the skillet together and inspected it. My first thought was: This sucker is heavy. It's a strong, well-made skillet and I've needed to use two hands when using it for making meals. Cleaning it was simple, except when something gets burned (I learned that the hard way early on). Which brings me to the next point, make certain you don't turn the heat too high.

When I first tried it out, I went ahead and set this thing on 4. That is high. And it heats up so quickly that if you step away for a moment, you can come back to a burning mess. There really is minimal heat-up time required, which may be unsettling if you're used to an electric range which needs a minute or two to get good-n-ready.

Newbie SNAFU aside, I've successfully been using this cooktop for the past several months and have made some observations:

+ Heat up happens quickly and doesn't require you to set it as high as you would with a typical electric range.

+ Certain foods do cook more quickly, while others still take roughly the same amount of time.

+ It used less energy than using my electric range which makes it a go-to for quick small meals.

+ It works with cast iron and some steel cookware (to test, just hold up a magnet and see if it sticks to the bottom of your cookware--if it does, it will work); I was pleasantly surprised to find my old cookware worked just fine with this.

+ I also like that it will switch itself off if it doesn't detect cookware on its surface after a minute or two.

+ The LEDs are very easy to read and, after some getting used to, understand.

However, there are a few things I didn't much care for:

It's not very quiet when it's on.

It draws energy when not in use, meaning you'll need to unplug it.

It's large and takes up a good amount of counter space in my kitchen. If I didn't use it about 3 times a week, it would quickly become a nuisance.

I also wish that it had finer temperature adjustments. It doesn't allow you to adjust by a degree or 10, but jumps in 30 degree increments.

So far, this cooktop has held up nicely and served me well for several months without problems.

()This is a cool little cooking option if you have enough space in your kitchen to hook it up. It seems perfect to me for someone who wants to find out what it's like to cook with an induction stovetop without having to redo their whole kitchen. Our kitchen is a little small so there's not too much space to use it (but that's the fault of our kitchen not the product).

I didn't find it to be any different (cooking-wise, speed-wise) than using a regular cooktop but it has the added bonus of being safer and using less energy. The touchscreen is really easy to understand and use and makes using this thing easier.

The skillet that came with it is also great (but I'm not cookware snob so I probably wouldn't know "good" from "great" or just "okay").

I really love using this product and have used it several times just for the fun of it, but you do kind of have to plan ahead to clear out some space for it if you want to use it. Also seems like it would be convenient for camping (if you had an electrical outlet).

()I love having this single cooktop as an option when I have dinner parties.I always seem to be a burner short when cooking and this will come in very handy during the holiday season.Since it uses induction as a method of heating, pots and pans with magnetic bottoms work best. The BerghHOFF induction cooktop is slim and easy to store away with no protruding parts to get stuck. No complaints from this user!

The cooktop has touch screen controls and my concern that they would get hot while cooking was unfounded. It's compact (18"L x 14"W x 7"H) and easy to pack for travel, as long as you have an outlet. We are going to bring it camping this summer. The 10" skillet is deep enough and includes a cover to make it versatile for most cooking needs except boiling water for pasta.Boiling water took the same amount of time to boil on this cooktop as the largest burner on my gas stovetop but did heat food quicker in most cases.I was leery of using this cooktop to fry foods but found it to work the same as my gas stovetop with the same results.

The only downside is the steep price. However, it is more energy efficient, can cook food faster in some instances and is the perfect solution when an extra burner is needed (and it stores away easily when not in use).Another bonus?Using an induction cooktop is perfect for dorm living it gets around that no hotplate rule!It ensures 100% safety and reliability against overheating or electrical overloads.Sweet.

()The Berghoff touch screen induction cooktop is a pretty impressive piece of kitchen equipment, one I think could easily become my favorite. It has a lot of advanced features which give you more control than near anything out there, and that is speaking as someone with some of the top line appliances...One piece of equipment in my kitchen that falls short of the mark is our stove, which was replaced by American Home Shield with a piece of junk, when the old one broke. It is a glass cooktop which seems to have 2 settings: luke warm & burn. Now, in our old house we had a Jenn-aire which I was quite happy with. However, this cooktop both gives you more control, and is more responsive (and efficient).I decided to put it to the test by making some curry, which likely would have burned on our stove.I was not sure what to make of the preset #5 (though, I guess that is medium), when I noticed that there was an option to set the temperature.I set it to 360 and in less than a minute it was boiling.I turned it down to 330 worried about cooking chicken at a much lower temperature, and a few minutes later my daughter said she thought it was burning.I took the pot off and the cooktop turned off!At that point our dinner was nearly done, so I set it to 150 to keep warm.I love being able to select the temperature, set the timer (and have it automatically turn off). Beyond that, it is very responsive, heating and modulating temperature quickly. I guess this is also a unique feature of induction cooking. The pot gets hot, but not the cook top. There is no question but that this is the smartest piece of equipment in my kitchen.I will just have to get used to things cooking more quickly and at a lower temperature than I am used to.In that regard it is more efficient than our convection over; more like a pressure cooker (strictly in terms of time and efficiency). It is a well built, nice looking piece of equipment too!The only real issue I have with it is that the shorter (built in) handle is metal and gets very hot (as did the metal handle on the lid to the included pot).Because it is a large pot and was quite full I took it off using both hands and got a burn, at that point not thinking to use an over mitt when I reached for a handle. I have the same issue with my Caphalon pots, but know they do that so that the pans may be used it the oven (though I personally would prefer heat proof, seldom using a frying pan in the oven). In this instance I do not understand why the second handle is not heat proof since the pot was meant to be used on the cooktop, and not in the oven (and with one plastic handle, it couldn't).It is odd that they did not think of that, given that the manual notes that it is almost impossible to burn yoursefl as the cooktop itself never gets hot.I managed to (but, it was not a very bad burn).

While this is not a problem or defect, I wish I could use it outside (the manual says not to).Since it is a portable cooktop, that would be a nice feature. It is also fairly large and is going to present a bit of a challenge to store. That said, I may well find myself leaving it out because it works so much better than my stove.Ideally i would like to be able to replace my stovetop with something like this, and then there would be no storage issue ;)I am very impressed with its performance and suspect I will be using it more often than not.It is going to be awfully hard to risk burned or improperly cooked food now that I have this, and may just use my stove to do what it does best: boil water.

I'd say that this is just about the perfect solution for people in apartments, that is if you use it in place of a stove.I have a pretty good sized kitchen, but still have storage issues as I like to cook and have quite a few specialty appliances. This doesn't replace any of the small ones, but will likely in short order replace one of the large ones: my stove!Because it uses practically all the heat it generates, it has the additional benefit of not heating the kitchen up very much.the more I think about it, the more I think this will be replacing my stove, certainly during the summer!

one other thing worth noting is that it may not wortk with all of your old cookware.it comes with a very nice, large non-stick heavy cast aluminum pot. This was initially somewhat of a puzzle as the unit operates by magnetic induction, and comes with a magnet to test the appropriateness of your cookware.the manual says that it has a 'ferro-ceramic" coating. This is unique in my experience; a magnetic (ferrous) ceramic. It does make for a nice looking and more substantial non-stick surface; one which is easier to clean as well.I am very impressed with the qulity of the pot as well and will be looking at what else scala has in this line (ideally with all hea-proof handles) ;)

All in all, I love the cook top and the pot which came with it.I would just prefer one in which both handles are heat proof. Now that i know that the second handle gets hot I can work with it as I do my caphalon.Hopefully if you are aware of it too you can prevent that initial burn.

Heuck 33027 Porcelain Enamel Cast Iron 10.5 Inch Chicken Fryer, Red

Heuck 33027 Porcelain Enamel Cast Iron 10.5 Inch Chicken Fryer, RedI read the first review and thought the complaint was with the shipping. So I purchased the Heuck to get away frome teflon. It arrived in 3 boxes within one The original manufacture box, inside another box then a box for that one. Ours arrived in great condition. BTW the red colour is a pleasent red not and orange red. I tested it for lead content with a home kit and it passed with flying colours. This has become our favorite pan, we are glad we ordered the one with the lid.

Product is made of cast iron skillet. When it arrived, the handle of the pan had broken off.It was packaged extremely poorly (from the manufacturer, not the shipping packaging). The cardboard box it was packaged in did not support the weight of the skillet. The skillet itself, was also much lighter than a cast iron skillet of that size should have been, which also makes me wonder about the quality of the product.

In short, this should be an extremely sturdy product cast iron lasts a long, long time. This product, however, couldn't last from manufacturing through shipping.

I also bought a 12" cast iron enamel skillet to get away from teflon. I enjoyed the skillet for 2 months before the enamel flaked off! About the size of a quarter. I went against my best judgement and bought this product even though i knew it was made in China. I'm not bashing the Chinese but it seems that the idea of profits out weighs the quality of the product. I don't plan on returning this for an exchange. I put it in the recycling bin where it belongs. I will not purchase anymore of these products or any others manufactured in China.

Yes, it looks like it, yes it's cast iron, But no it's not Le Creuset. I wanted my

daughter to put LeCreuset on her bridal registry, she did. Well some thoughtful person thought buying a cheaper version would be acceptable. Guess what.........it's full of pits and breaks in the enamel. She'sused it for pasta sauce and chili. She's not even married a year it's garbage, don't fall for the price, there's a reason it's so much cheaper than Le Creuset. Can you say QUALITY, and you get what you pay for!!!

West Bend 72215 Electric Extra-Deep Oblong 12-by-15-Inch Nonstick Skillet

West Bend 72215 Electric Extra-Deep Oblong 12-by-15-Inch Nonstick SkilletIf you know anything about non stick electric fry pans, you know they usually have two things in common, 1. they only heat where the heating coil is in the bottom, resulting in uneven heating, then that area wears out, creating a permanent sticky ring in the bottom of the fryer that peels, bubbles, and burns everything. 2. they have notoriously LOW sides making their usefulness very limited. This West Bend 72215 Electric nonstick skillet addresses those very issues. First of all, you'll get even heating and the non stick is very durable. Second, the pan is OBLONG and has EXTRA DEEP sides! The shape and size makes it very much more versatile than any other electric fry pan you may have tried. And at under fifty dollars, it is a steal! I like to use a pan like this to avoid heating up the kitchen (OR having to clean the stove!) in the Summer, and at the Cabin. Grab one, you won't be disappointed!

love using electric skillets but found out this one doesn't keep its nonstick coating on...very disappointing...seeing that I do not want to be eating it in my food...I thought maybe plastic utensils were gouging it & turned to just silicone spatulas...but it didn't matter...more&more coating is coming off no matter what I do...Also like the other review said it does heat up to really hot & then it shuts off...Ive had it for 6 months now & use it once or twice a week...I like the size & the depth of the pan..wish it wasn't so flaky..

This skillet has some major shortcomings. It has VERY thin sidewalls which results in a significant uneven distribution of heat. One has to consistently move food to get it to cook evenly. The thin sidewalls also do not hold the heat. While cooking, the skillet cycles through getting extremely hot then shuts off and stops cooking. It seems unable to even remotely hold a constant temperature.I use a skillet for a lot of my cooking but this one is literally unusable.

I have to really wonder about any good reviews on this product. We were "gifted" this skillet for a 10 year employment anniversary gift where my husband works. I researched the gift options and chose this in spite of poor reviews. I lowered my expectations and hoped for the best. I guess I didn't lower them enough.

I used it for the first time today frying up some chicken tenders. I figured that would give an an idea about the heating, seeing how each piece turned out. The only good thing about this skillet is it's size (I was able to lay out 10 tenders at once), but that falls way short as it just means more food to cook unevenly or burn. The heating in this skillet is anything but even. Very hot at the source and cooler on the other end and all kinds of temp differences in between. One of the last pieces to go in was starting to burn before it was time to turn the first piece which never really got a good brown on it at all. (it was right next to the other piece) Some were crispy and most weren't. That's not counting the overcooked ones.

As far as the structure, it does as other reviewers say, have very thin walls around it. As I was cleaning it and handling it I could feel a slight give in the side wall. The ends are so close to the handles that you can't get anything in between to clean there if you get something spilled over the edge. And as for the tilt leg... What tilt leg? I never could find it after seriously trying to figure that out. The legs are part of the one solid piece of plastic on each end that is the handle. Nothing moves to tilt anything. Of course that could just be me. I mean this thing being so high tech it was probably over my head to figure it out.

Don't waste your time on this skillet... it's NOT worth the money.

We have had this pan only three months and already it is ready for the scrap heap.

We have taken care of it very carefully but already it has several chips out of the finish and food is sticking on the bottom of the pan. In fact, I tried to fry an egg this morning and it stuck, even in bacon grease! Seems to me you should get more than a few months use out of a skillet before having to throw it away. We really feel ripped off.

Swiss Diamond Nonstick Fry Pan with Lid - 8 in.

Swiss Diamond Nonstick Fry Pan with Lid - 8 in.This the best non stick I've had! Heavy so it holds the heat. NOTHING sticks to it. Expensive? Yes, but worth it.

Try it, you"ll like i.

I bought this pan because Swiss Diamond cookware was top rated by Consumer Reports in their latest cookware test. So far, no matter what I cook in it, it just wipes clean. This size is great for scrambling 1-5 eggs and is also great for making a single grilled cheese sandwich. It has the slipperiest surface of any pan I've ever used. Metal utensils can be used with it too, though I haven't done so. The mfg mentions that it is dishwasher safe, but then says if you routinely run it through your dishwasher, the finish of the pan will degrade over time. In any case, since it just wipes clean, there's no need to put it in the dishwasher.

Calphalon 12-in. Commercial Hard-Anodized Stir Fry Pan

Calphalon 12-in. Commercial Hard-Anodized Stir Fry PanI purchased this wok because Calphalon is a decent brand. It turned out that the non stick property is fair. It's non-stick to vegetables but not to meat. However there is no chemical layer that can easily fall off with this product. So this is trade off. I searched all the woks, and asked friends around. It seems that there is no perfect wok. I returned it because it does not meet my expectation atthis price, and they charged me $15 for returning. But later I found that the other woks have problems in other aspects as well. The size of the wok is good, it's very heavy. Just don't have very high expectation on it, you can use it.
