My issue with ordinary oven mitts was that I would accidentally dip the tips of the thumb into food all the time, not sure if it was lack of coordination or incompetence, but the grip on this glove is easy to clean, as well as being great at gripping glass and almost completely heat resistant. Glad I took a chance on it
