Paula Deen Signature Cast Iron Ginger Bread House Mold

Paula Deen Signature Cast Iron Ginger Bread House MoldThis mold is extremely heavy (being cast iron) and would not be good for people that have trouble lifting or using heavy things. Of course the upside of that is that it will last for ages if taken care of. The thing about this mold that I don't like is that you have to do your baking in two stages, since it is all in one piece; bake cookies on one side, then bake cookies on the other once the first batch are done. I would much have prefered a mold that was two pieces both so that it would be less heavy, and so that all the baking could be done at once.

There is nothing wrong with this mold. It just takes a really long time to make an entire house and an eternity if you are making multiple. The included recipe takes 20 minutes to bake, 25 minutes to cool and then you have to let the cast iron pan cool more to reuse. Easily takes an hour per side. You have to bake on both sides to make a complete house. The pieces are very brittle (using the included recipe) and broke easily meaning I had to bake replacement pieces. Next year we'll go back to hot gluing graham crackers for our houses.

This is a heavy cast iron mold. I liked the house, but found the chimney and people hard to remove from the pan. The larger pieces were fine and I liked the rustic look.I used a different chimney and people from a different mold that I purchased so it changed the character of the house.

If you are a kitchen cast iron collector this is for you.Yes, it is indeed heavy but that's what cast iron is about.I haven't used it for gingerbread houses but I don't think I would have trouble making one because cast iron is what I work with all the time.

Like the others, I found this to be very heavy. I also had a very hard time removing the smaller parts. I wished I had just bought the cut outs instead.
